What if ...

Sid isn't really injured at all?

What if this is all just an elaborate prank on Nate?

The way Sid supposedly spent two years telling Nate, who was building a house next door to Sid's, that he was about to move.

I used to go to bed, fall asleep and sleep until right before my alarm went off. (A really ideal sleep pattern.)

Now? I seem to be alternating between waking up two hours early, which is 3 a.m. and not at all ideal, or sleeping 9 hours straight (when I don't have my alarm set). Also not truly ideal.

The Pens' YouTube channel seems to have disappeared.

It vanished from my subscribers list and a search resulted in a "this account has been terminated" message.

Crazy.

(There's one that claims to be "official" and has the usual Pens logo, but its content is ... not the standard Pens content.)

Dear popular mail-order pet supply business, I love your products and your nice, sturdy boxes, which is why I was a regular customer for a few years there.

But I wish you would have taken the hint when I requested removal from your email mailing list after you sent that one featuring the graphic with the adorable cat and the "We miss you."

The actual snail-mail mailer with the even more adorable kitten and the "Long time no treat" to start the new year was no more popular in my house. We still miss him. But I don't think buying him more treats is going to bring him back.

OK, so I'm really hoping Yohe is right and Sid has no real damage to his left arm/wrist after getting "tangled." But ...

In a 2:24-minute post-game (2-4-25 Devils) video on the Pens' website, he did not once move his left arm. Every time he wiped at his face or scratched, he used his right hand. The left side of his body was held still. He didn't even shrug his left shoulder.

Compare that to the 2:14-minute post-game video from 2-1-25 (Predators), when he raised his left hand almost immediately to wipe or scratch at his face and proceeded to do so three more times in the first 90 seconds.

In a quick, random sampling of seven other post-game videos from this season, he used his left hand to wipe at sweat or scratch his face in five of them. He used his right hand in one of them (it was the hand holding a towel). He used both his left and his right hand in one of them.

I'm not going to argue that he never uses his right hand for wiping at sweat or scratching his stubble, but I do feel like he's more likely to use his left hand. Which makes me wonder.

What about his left hand/arm led him to hold it still (and largely out of view of the cameras)? He used his left hand to offer fist bumps during the shootout, which surely is a good sign. (I took it as one at the time.) But wiping sweat or scratching stubble isn't overly challenging.

Once again, I've started doing a thing. A thing involving, this time around, Valentine's Day ... and baked goods.

And it's not exactly an Advent calendar.

But ... here there be Epiphany baked goods (and words about happenings in the life of a fictional bakery owner and his hockey-playing boyfriend).

Good grief ... it's been an hour and I'm probably 40% caught up on my dash! Sorry for the reblogging spree, but it needs to happen. (Ideally, I'll be caught up sometime in the next two hours.)

I am so, so far behind on my dash. I will catch up -- always do! But it won't happen before work this morning.

(Not complaining! I'm behind simply because there is so, so much to enjoy!) (Looking at you, Sid! A lot, actually!)

For the next 5 seconds or so, maybe, I've managed to catch up on my dash dating back to Monday! We'll see how far behind I am again by the time I get home from work!

Good grief. It's only quarter 'til 9 (my time). It feels like it should be 11. (And that game felt 5 hours long. Yes, it did!)

Tagging considerations ...

Generally, I tag something like "vs the Kraken" or "vs the Blues," etc.

It feels wrong adding "Utah" to the mix ... "vs Utah Hockey Club".

But it doesn't feel any more right to tag "vs the Hockey Club".

Thoughts? My best idea at this point is to simply muddle through until they get around to picking a name.

Anyone have any suggestions for a photo editing program that isn't Phot0shop but allows resizing (including resolution), toning and converting to jpg's when the photo isn't already a jpg?

It's for work, so it needs to be something good, but cheaper than the aforementioned.
