Playing on my mind blurb where the band is out walking or getting coffee and they run into y/n. She’s in her regular clothes (maybe even just sweats?), no makeup and super chill. After you and Matty are done catching up (he introduces you to everyone) and she leaves, the boys all sit down and just listen to Matty talk about you for the rest of the time:

“So…?’

“She seems very cool, matty”

“And pretty too right? Just absolutely gorgeous…”

“Sigh… yes matty she is very pretty”

Oh, this is a sweet concept… you would be so mortified this is how you're meeting his friends but also so fucking excited to meet his friends. I'm gonna alter this slightly and just have you meet George, i have different ideas for the other two boys…

I think it's probably early on a Sunday, and George and Matty crashed at the studio last night, falling asleep at the mixing desk before trudging to the sofas at 3 am. So once it hits 8 a.m., and they wake up, they are in desperate need of a coffee.

You had a slightly less fun or productive night, just staying up late catching up on the newest episodes of the great British bake-off (yes this is me projecting <3). You don't think you'll run into anyone so you're dressed pretty comfy, in jogging bottoms and an oversized jumper.

You nearly wore your newly purchased 1975 hoodie, but it was in the wash after you spilt tea on it last night. Thank GOD. yes, you were embarrassed about buying it, but your yearning for Matty had reached new heights. This was a way to cope with those feelings that wouldn't get you fired…

You order your coffee and are waiting to hear your name be called, and it is - but not by a barista. 

“y/n! Ohmygod, hi!” Matty says insinctively coming to hug you but catching himself at the last second and just waving awkwardly, with George standing behind him equally as awkward. 

“MATTY! Oh wow - hi!!” You say moving your hands to fix your hair and pull at your clothes self-consciously.

Holy fuck WHY was he here??? When you looked like this?? Sometimes you show up looking very cute, prepared to work in the coffee shop and live your fantasy of being that cool girl in a cafe.

But OF COURSE, the one time he shows up, you look like this. In a snoopy hoodie, no makeup and your massive glasses on. 

Matty is immediately enamoured by you, his brain going straight to domestic delusions. Seeing you dressed like that in his house whilst you're making tea, or when you are getting ready for a movie night.

He focuses on your freckles and your glasses, feeling his heart stutter at how beautiful you look when you're not even trying.

Matty thanked god George told him to fix his hair before he left. 

Speaking of George, he was still there, but he might as well not have been. You two were standing in silence, grinning and drooling over each other, and it's then when it clicks to George exactly who you are.

Matty had been talking about you for MONTHS.

“y/n wore a red dress today” 

“She waved goodbye to me this morning”

“I saw her at the Christmas disco and nearly gave her a drink”

“No, I don't like her!! Shut up, George. I'm not 15, I don't have crushes anymore”

Despite Matty's denial, he had heard all about you from Matty and from Adam, who watched you two interact recently and reported it back to George and Ross.

“he was basically drooling. Do you remember how he was with Julie Smith in year 10? Like that, but WORSE!”

“oh god, he's down bad huh”

George coughed lightly behind Matty, and suddenly he came back to life and introduced him, “Right! Yes! Sorry, y/n, this is George, my best friend and bandmate. George, this is Annie's teacher, y/n!”

You wave politely at George, and he waves back, cheekily saying, “Ah yes, y/n! I've heard SO MUCH about you” which earns him an elbow in the stomach from Matty.

You obsess over him saying this FOR MONTHSSSS. “But what did he mean??? So much?? From Matty or Annie??? Or adam?? Probably not from Matty… BUT WHAT IF IT WAS??" (your cat does not respond to this rant sadly)

Soon after, your name is called, and you couldn't run away quicker, internally dying at Matty seeing you like this. Matty and George sit down, and Matty is staring out the window, looking in the direction you walked off in wistfully and sighing. 

George taps his nails against the cup to bring Matty back and is just about to start talking about the track they were working on but Matty starts talking before he can. 

“So…?” Matty says with a lovesick look in his eyes.

George briefly considers not humouring Matty and ignoring what he said, but he plays along anyway, “Yeah she seems really cool Matty, just like you described.” 

“I don't talk about her that much! … but yeah, she is really cool. And pretty too, right? Just absolutely gorgeous. But not in a weird way or an ‘I like her’ way just… objectively” he says unsurely, as if he is trying to convince himself as well as George.

With a heavy sigh, knowing no work will get done today, George agrees with Matty “Yes Matty she is very pretty.”

A few seconds of silence pass, and George can't help himself,

“You totally like her though”

“GEORGE NO I DON'T. LISTEN OKAY JUST BECAUSE-”

I think Harrow might actually like tea with milk and sugar but I bet John is one of those insufferable pretentious assholes who goes on about how you’re altering the flavor profile and there’s no point even drinking it with milk or sweetener because it’s not the real experience. (as a barista, if you rude to us, we will give you decaf. most people can't tell the difference in taste. doesn't work the other way around though (i.e giving someone caf instead of decaf) because i don't want to kill someone)

i’ve worked in sm hospitality/retail jobs and my fav thing as a barista was giving nice ppl extra drinks. like if i was making a frappuccino, i’d ‘accidentally’ make too much and pour it into a smaller drink container for them. charles would absolutely do the same, only for the nice ones tho. he 100% gives reader free drinks and is SHOCKED when she’s like ‘no thanks i’ll pay 👍’. like hello?? from him that’s a declaration of MARRIAGE.

as a milk enjoyer. on a scale of 1-10 how insane is my boyfriend for going through a gallon of milk every 1-2 days by himself? i swear to god he has single-handedly spent thousands on milk. i really really wish i was joking

No wait wait why would this be a joke. This makes sense. A gallon of milk isn't as much as you think. So I drink let's say 4 glasses of milk a day. I would say a gallon is 10 glasses (glass =/ cup) so he is having let's say 7 glasses of milk a day. I drink 4/10 a gallon a day and he drinks 7/10 (which I respect). I am also drinking water. If he isn't drinking water, this makes complete sense. Milk is a nutrionally dense substitute for water. I know you are mortified but I absolutely love this for him!!!

“Welcome to the official launch of the fall Minkiway collection” Mingi rehearsed out loud, he had been preparing and curating a line for his official fall launch for the past 2 years.  

“For this fall collection, we will be featuring both neutral and warm tones to accentuate the warm feeling of fall” 

“Our goal with this launch is…. The goal of this launch is… God this is so stupid!”

You watched from the hallway as Mingi threw his drafts in the trash, his shoulders tense and his voice hoarse. To help ease his worries, you snuck behind him to wrap your arms around his shoulders and press gentle kisses to the back of his neck 

“Hey, you’re doing great”

“Baby, I’m not. Look at me, I’m a mess” Mingi stood up, visible bags under his eyes growing darker and his disheveled hair sticking up in all directions 

A small tear fell from his face as he slowly lowered his head to rest in between your shoulder and neck, slowly taking in your scent. 

“I don’t know if I can do this”

“You can”

“How?”

Mingi lifted his head from your shoulders and looked down intently at your eyes, his eyes red from the tears that once fell from them 

“Well, you’re Song Mingi aren’t you?”

“Yes, bu-“

“No but’s! This is your dream, right?”

Mingi nodded slowly, using the back of his hand to rub his residual tears 

“Well, I can help you write this speech and you deliver it, okay? You’re going to do great” 

Mingi nodded again, his heart swelled with love and joy as he stared at you, the absolute love of his life. 

A few hours later and 3 cups of coffee, a moving and encouraging speech had been written. 

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen, 

Thank you for coming to the official fall launch of Minkiway. As many of you may know, Minkiway was originally the name of a brief Youtube series I had produced along with my company while I was active with Ateez. The name Minki is a little nickname I was given, by our fans we called Atiny, it was quite adorable. That aside, before I unveil the pieces I curated for this fall collection, I want to share why I wanted to create my own clothing line” 

Mingi stood tall, straightening out his suit as he held onto his paper, stared out to the distance to find your eyes before he continued 

“I created this clothing line to well, indulge on my love for fashion and dressing up. This fall collection features a mix of textures, materials and neutral warm and cool tones. This fall collection is one of my favorites as it is quite versatile and can be worn year round. Many of these pieces in this collection are part of my personal time capsule. I hope as you all browse through this collection, that you can learn more about me and my personal style.

As the crowd stood to applaud him, Mingi turned around to cut the ribbon to his store. The crowd eventually dispersed into the store to walk around the beautiful layout Mingi had painstakingly drafted out years before.  

“See, I knew you could do it” You winked as you hugged him from the side 

“Not without you though” Mingi leaned down to press a soft kiss to your forehead.

BUT ALSO may I make the argument that Fictional!Matty might be even more miserable? Like IRL Matty is at least double fisting what looks like multiple forms of coffee. Meanwhile:

HOWEVER ATKH, when Fictional!Matty does drink coffee, it's for utility rather than enjoyment so he is drinking plain black coffee and hoping he survives. Typically, because it's cheap he is consuming instant coffee mixed with water for breakfast. (He may have even considered just like eating it once but thankfully resisted) Fictional!George meanwhile is an iced coffee with oat milk enthusiast and is drinking whatever the local coffee shop equivalent to a brown sugar shaken oat milk espresso is.

bestie idk if you have farmers markets near you but you should try raw milk if it’s available (and safe!) in your area! it’s pricey but my partner and i get it as a special treat sometimes, with the stipulation that it is ONLY for drinking. (if you’re in the us, they also have it at some organic markets if it’s allowed in your state!)

OKAY I do have tons of farmers markets near me but I know the one in my town has like one flower vendor and one vegetable vendor total and pretty much everyone else is food or local businesses. I really should look at the ones from the farm towns near by. ALSO this is so random but I have had plenty of unpasteurized goat milk because pretty much my entire extended family raises sheep and goats and no one milks the sheep but they always used to give me goat milk and I hated it because it tasted like the smell of a goat. Then they made ice cream from their milk and it actually slapped so hard

Here are 7 little facts about my donkey and how his summer is going :)

1. I received an anon the other day asking if Pirou was still a working donkey who carries my firewood for me, and the answer is yes. I've been cutting some branches from the big cherry tree that fell down the other day, and Pirlouit has been valiantly carrying them to the woodshed—fun fact, for this activity he likes to wear his ears like this:

Probably because this T position is reminiscent of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, which is how Pirlouit perceives himself as he carries heavy logs for me. He's willing, but his martyrdom should be acknowledged.

I stopped so they could have their little chat.

2. Pirou has been chatting with a lot of new friends lately—we met these horses on a walk and he was so happy to stop and touch noses with them while making equid noises. Llamas are good with the nose-touching but their llama noises are just less interesting to Pirlouit. He had such interested ears here! "Finally a serious grown-up conversation"

We also met this goose during the same walk and Pirlouit was a lot less eager to go say hi to her. The goose was yelling threats at us and we prudently stayed away, and Pirou was clearly thinking "this bird is doing a better job at protecting her home from intruders than Pandolf ever could" (it's true, Pan assumes intruders are friends until proven otherwise)

3. You'll notice that there are houses in this pic! Our walks got longer and longer until one day we went all the way to the village (it took 1 hour 20min at Pirlouit's leisurely pace). I was so proud of him. I've been trying to convince my friends to go to the village on donkeyback (this requires two people, because you can ride Pirlouit but you can't tell him where to go unless there's someone holding his rope and leading the way)—my friends were reluctant because they still sort of perceive Pirou as the feral animal terrified of everything that he was when I got him. They know he's made a lot of progress but going to town on donkeyback still seemed foolhardy.

So we've been riding Pirlouit in the woods, in familiar environments, and we also went to town with him but without riding him. He was amazingly calm and brave! There's a river that cuts the village in two and the first time we went, we stopped before the bridge, since it's pretty narrow and cars would have to drive very close to Pirlouit, we didn't want to risk it. We just went to say hi to the librarian who lives on the right side of the river, but since Pirlouit was very serene, we did cross the bridge the second time.

He did not care at all about cars driving very close to him (he had one familiar human on either side of him and the drivers were very considerate and went slowly), which emboldened us to stop for a drink on the terrace of the coffeeshop on main street (< also a narrow street with cars driving by quite close to Pirlouit). There was just no problem at all, Pirou let total strangers rub his forehead and was more interested in iced tea than main street traffic.

It was a hot day and we gave him all the ice cubes from our drinks and he chewed them enthusiastically.

4. We made a stop at the pharmacy on our way home because we had another 1 hour 20min walk ahead and I had a blister, and the pharmacist noticed my donkey parked outside his shop and in a determined tone he said, "I want to try something." He took one of the donkey milk soaps from the overpriced-Provence-soaps-for-tourists display and opened the door and offered it for Pirlouit to sniff.

... I'm not sure what he was expecting—for my donkey to go "ohhh this smells like Mother's milk and aloe vera 🥺"—but unfortunately nothing happened.

(4. bis—Sorry, this 4th fact was anticlimactic.)

5. Pirlouit is now the proud owner of a surcingle. Not for equestrian vaulting and not for his log-carrying job because I don't know if it would be solid enough for the weight of a bag full of logs, but I'd like to tie bags or baskets to it to take Pirlouit grocery shopping, now that I know he's okay with going to town :) He even seems to enjoy the adventure, and the attention he gets from children.

And actually I shouldn't write off equestrian vaulting because Pirou is also remarkably chill with weird things happening on his back. I used to be very careful to climb on his back in a quick & fluid way so he wouldn't spook (because he used to! a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil used to spook him!) but now that my friends are riding him I can confirm we've reached a point where you can climb on Pirlouit's back in any way you want and he'll just be like "...... sure"

6. I almost forgot to mention that Pirou turned 15 last month, according to his ID papers :) Donkeys have a longer life expectancy than horses, they can live 30-40 years on average so he's still a young lad really. Happy 15th birthday Pirlouit :)

7. I wanted to conclude with a nice aesthetic pic of Pirou's shadow on the road during all those walks, like I did with Poldine, but unfortunately donkey shadows do not have the chic je-ne-sais-quoi of llama shadows. Pirlouit looks like a hammerhead shark wearing a tiny fez and that's not his fault.

Good question! thats tough! some of my safe foods for sure tho are rice crispy treats n trail mix with salted nuts n dried fruit, i can always eat em even when m having a hard food day! good for fuel while also being super yummy 💕

and cuties n cherries but only when theyre in season, and vanilla Yoplait Oui yogurt! sometimes i like to reuse the jars from the yogurt to make myself chia seed pudding, and sweeten it with honey :b
