Behind her eyelids the forests burn.  Forests where she spent her childhood, where she grew up, the ones she loved so fiercely she thought it might destroy her one day.  Someone once told her that childhood dreams are never meant to last, but she knows now that they were wrong.  They last.  They last past when they are welcome, they twist and morph and they turn themselves sour and dark, pressing into the crevices of memory and settle themselves there like a disease.

Except this isn’t childish imagination run rampant.  This is real life, playing in vivid technicolour, and there is nothing Lucy can do to stop it.  The forests burn, and she watches, smoke filling her lungs and blocking out the sky, and when she wakes she is choking on clean air and soaked with sweat, though the room is kept relatively cool.  

Half an hour later she isn’t much better, shaking enough for it to be visible, her heart pounding so hard she thinks half the ship must hear it.  Her burning world has been left behind now, but that doesn’t make it any less real, doesn’t make the horror she saw any less memorable.  Distance does nothing to erase memories that have dug their claws in.  

She stands, moves as quietly as she is able.  The ship has twists and turns and she follows them easily, has learned the quickest route to the one person she trusts now - the one familiarity she has left.  Perhaps it’s improper, perhaps it’s overstepping boundaries, but she crawls across the bed, curls up against his chest as though she were no older than five, though more than a decade has past since that point.  She’s not very big to begin with, but she makes herself even smaller, gets as close to him as she dares without actually touching.

It doesn’t mean she’ll sleep.  It hardly even guarantees that her panic will ebb.  All Lucy knows is that Anakin can keep her safe, and she trusts him implicitly, and he breaths evenly and reminds her of Peter, whom she cannot think of without crying, and she knows he gets nightmares too.  Maybe it’s one of the reasons she crawled in with him.  Shared trauma is nothing to take lightly, and she hopes - she hopes perhaps he’ll understand.  She has always been reliant on others - this is no different.  This is what safety is now.  What it has to be.  She has nothing else left.

Opinion on;

Character in general: I haven’t watched as much Star Wars as I should, and I probably should seeing as my ass has been whipped into Space Aesthetic(TM). I was always more of a Star Trek person because of my dad, but still. Beginning tangent over. What I know of Ani, which is surprisingly a lot, I like. It’s just enough cheese and heartbreak to not be overpowered by either of the two, and I really do like the character itself and the barriers the entire franchise broke for its time. How they play them: Zach knows this, but he can essentially nail any character he plays: from Heather Chandler to Fried Space Dad. He does an excellent job, and deserves all of the love he gets.The Mun: Zach is the most gross piece of shit nerd that I have the pleasure of talking to. We haven’t talked in a while and that’s partially my fault, but he’s very sweet and kind -- if you’re friends with him then I recommend that you keep it that way. Because his friendship is a kind and rare type.
