@plasticsouled from s.c. [ Jordan to Eva ]
"Ah, uh, hi Eva." He laughed nervously as he stumbled over his words. It had been a few months since his last 'visit' to earth. He appeared in different clothes this time, looking more casual and comfortable with himself than the last time he visited. Though he still wore the signature green from the earth team's color scheme, in a military styled jacket. He looked very army casual. He looked very...Jordan.
"Sorry I missed your race last week. I was watching though, you did great."

@carpemusa asked: ‘ surprised to run into you here. ’ for Jordan from aikka
"Frankly, I'm surprised too. It took me awhile to find this place." He grinned, pushing his way through some plants carefully so he could hop onto the path that Aikka was on. It was almost too casual, considering they were currently on Nourasia. "I haven't exactly memorized all the placements of all the planets yet." He grinned and rubbed at the back of his head.
He seemed to be wearing the signature avatar robes, but the front was left open and showing he wore very casual clothes underneath. It was kind of a jarring difference, but with a snap of his fingers the robes disappeared and he was left with his military casual outfit, sticking his hands in his pockets. "I promised Eva I'd drop in and check on you." Which explained everything in one sentence, but he would be lying if he said that he wasn't wanting to visit Aikka on his own terms aswell. Rivalry be damned, he missed the prince. Not that he would EVER say that aloud.
"Haven't been causing too much trouble, have you?"

"Hey, give a guy some credit, I can learn and grow if I want to." Though he had never been much for academics before, he did find a lot of the history of the galaxy fascinating to learn about. "Plus the ancients won't really let me have a bias to any one species or plant, so asking questions kind of became a priority." Though they both knew that his love for Earth and his kind would always be number one.
"That's the thing, not every galaxy can even see that set of stars. I'd say only the handful in this galaxy even can. Some can see one star out of the group but it can make up a completely different constellation to them." He explained, gesturing with his hands some. "Plus, I can't really pronounce alot of the other names for it." He laughed softly, rubbing at the side of his neck. "Alot of them involve bears, or the planet's equivalent to a bear-like creature, though. Even ours. The big dipper makes up part of a bigger constellation known as Ursa Major, or the Great Bear, for us. Some old greek myth or something is the story behind it, but it's weird that they all involve bears." He goes silent for a moment, tilting his head slightly. His eyes seem to glow as he points and lights up other constellations.
"The ancients say that though they made every planet as unique as possible, there were bound to be some overlap. Like...how can I put it." He closed his eyes for a moment before looking at Eva, eyes still glowing faintly. "It's like the planets are related, like having a sibling, or cousins? Cousins might be a better comparison. They share the same dna, and can look alike, but in the end, they're two different 'people' so to speak."
A soft 'hmm?' escaped her as Jordan said to follow, watching him for a moment before following behind (grateful for the change in topic). Slowly, she sat down beside him & laid back in the grass, gaze looking up at the stars. She was quiet as she watched his finger trace lines in the sky, a silent awe filling her when they actually connected with rays of light. The things he could do as the Avatar would always amaze her.
"Wow ..." The universe had so much mystery to it, so much wonder. Eva wished she could see it all. See ... what Jordan saw. But he probably wasn't allowed to just take someone galivanting across the universe, huh? The ancient ones seemed like the type to give that a hearty 'no' -- not that she's so sure her dad would be keen on the idea, either.
"You've learned so much. What happened to my shoot first ask questions later partner?" Eva teased lightly, head turning to look at Jordan as she gently kicked his foot with hers. Her gaze stayed on him a moment longer, smile turning soft as she realized just how much she missed him when he couldn't visit for a while. When she realized she was staring, a faint blush colored her cheeks & she very quickly looked back up at the stars.
Shuffling a little closer so she could nudge him with her elbow, Eva pointed up to gesture to a grouping of stars. "What do they call this one on some other planets? We call it the Big Dipper, but I'm sure it has other names. Do other planets even connect these stars like we do?"

"You're probably right." He wouldn't put it past them. He argued with them on a semi normal basis it seemed like. Some days he would just go along with it because he didn't want to fight while other days they really got on his nerves. But they were pretty much the only company he had on oban that could actually hold a conversation, so it stopped him from going insane during training and days of isolation at least.
"Uh huh..." He looked at her for a moment, not entirely believing her but he wouldn't make it worse by pointing it out. He stretched out his arms and walked further into the yard. "Come here, I want to show you something cool." He laid down in the grass once he found a good spot, patting the ground next to him so she would join him. When she did, he pointed up towards the sky.
"I'm learning alot about constellations and the planets that make up them." He draws out a constellation with his finger, and to Eva in the night sky, it looked as if they were being connected by rays of light. "You know the ancient ones didn't make planets with the intention of people piecing them together into constellations? That's something the people of the universe made up all on their own." He smiled as he explained. "Every world has a different way for using constellations. Like we used to use them for navigation, or telling the time." He continues tracing out constellations as he speaks, barely taking a pause - showing how much he had really learned about the night sky as he didn't need to question what lines he was making. "But there's planets out there that use constellations for other things. Like one planet worships their constellations as gods, and can only do certain things when those constellations are in the sky over a specific part of the planet. They worship the avatar too, actually. But I've made it a point not to visit. Don't want to ruin their image of the avatar until I can get the whole big bad visual down you know?" He laughed nervously, then quickly changed the subject.
"Another planet uses the constellations to show what crop they're going to grow. Or even what the weather will be like."

“Wah!!” Thank the stars indeed. He almost had blinked out for a moment out of surprise, but manages to keep the solid form and hug her back with a laugh.
“Now who could ever forget about you?” He grins and gave her a light punch back. Though she mentions his look, and he couldn’t help but blush. He laughs nervously, rubbing at the side of his neck. “Yeah it took me awhile but I figured out how to make myself some more clothes out of all the fabrics Satis had laying around, and I found a bunch of plants on oban too that can make fabric so–” He realizes he’s rambling and drops his hand back to his side. “The ancient ones still make me wear the robes during lessons, but apparently they’re supposed to help enhance my powers or whatever. I’m still not sure how it works.”
Like how he didn’t know how alot of things worked, still. The ancient ones say he was making good progress all things considered, but he wasn’t sure. He felt like he should be doing more, not just with his powers but with the general state of the universe. But the ancient ones stressed that going out to actually help other worlds would be dangerous if he didn’t have the basics grasped. Which might be why they didn’t speak up against his visits to earth. Technically speaking, he was practicing.
“I didn’t realize it’d be so late when I got here, though.” He said, looking up at the night sky then back down to Eva. Looks like he was getting used to the day and night cycle on oban more. It kind of made him sad. but he continues. “What are you doing up?”
He was making his own clothes now? Like ... making them, making them? Or just using his Avatar powers to make them? Regardless, she was glad to see him in something that actually felt like HIM. Not that the Avatar robes looked bad on him or anything, they just ... weren’t very ‘Jordan’.
“Honestly, I don’t trust everything the ancient ones say. They probably just want you to look the part more than anything.” Eva rolled her eyes, arms crossed as she let out a small huff. She remembered how snippy they had been with her & Jordan before -- they seemed like the types to come up with an excuse to get the Avatar wearing the Avatar’s robes.
“Oh, uh,” Eva hesitated, gaze blinking from Jordan & then up to the starry sky. A foot raised to lightly tap her toes against the dirt, fingers fiddling with the sleeves of her pajama top. “I couldn’t sleep.” She had a nightmare -- of a memory. The race ... Canaletto ... it made her wake up in a cold sweat, & when she couldn’t go back to sleep she snuck outside.
“I thought some fresh air might help.”

"As if! You're just as much as a troublemaker as me, don't try to deny it." He waved a finger at the prince-- King. (He has been forgetting that part for ahwile now). Then he grinned all the same as he lowered his hand. He supposed he should treat royalty with some respect, Aikka had earned that much. But how could he, considering everything they've gone through? Not to mention that as the Avatar, technically he outranked the royalty of the galaxy, no matter who they were. Perhaps he'd keep that in his back pocket to bring up and rub in the king's face later. That'd be funny.
"Watch that mouth or maybe I'll just send something your way, hm?" He scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest. Though he knew that Aikka was just teasing, it still rubbed at a bit of a sore spot.
"Me? Well, as good as I can, I guess." He looks away for a moment, wondering how much he should, or even could, talk about. "The ancients sound like a bunch of grandparents trying to get their grandkid to follow in the same path as them. It's annoying, but bearable." He moves his arms down to put a hand on his hip as he looked over at Aikka. "I'm sure you know what it's like, following traditions and all that."
There wasn't much he could change, either. The more he learned about the avatar's role the more he learned how restricting it was. So much power, but with so many rules. It made sense, but it made him feel as if he was trapped in a gilded cage more often than not. He's glad he took the position instead of Eva - she would have hated it. But Jordan himself, was used to rules, having been in the military. So at least he was coping better than he thought he would.
"But enough about that. This is my first time on Nourasia- care to give me a tour?"
Aikka’s brow was furrowed as he watched the other stumble out of the greenery. There were certainly more bizarre and dramatic ways the Avatar could make an entrance. But perhaps Jordan simply lacked the taste for theater that Satise partook in.
“If I recall, Jordan, it was often you who caused trouble for me.”
Aikka’s words were clipped and curt as he lifted his chin. He stood before the other no longer a prince but a king. Following the loss of his father during the Crog occupation of Nourasia as the Great Race drew to a close. He held a stoic face for a moment before he could no longer hold back the way his lips curled up in amusement. The facade only lasted a few seconds before he let his shoulders relax.
It was good to see Jordan. Even if he’d never admit so. He once held no small amount of annoyance for the human but his dedication and sacrifices for Eva’s sake had more than Earned Aikka’s respect.
“You can let Eva know I am well. My duties keep me far from harm from life threatening races or trigger happy human pilots,” He smirked, “How have you been managing?”
