with her husband away on a fishing trip, eilís could get some housework done. she took care of the dishes, swept and mopped the floors, did laundry, everything a good housewife would do to make sure the home was clean for her husband's eventual return. he would usually be gone for a few days with his friends and bring back fish for her to prepare for meals. it wasn't the life eilís imagined for herself, and yet... here she is. miserable, unloved, yearning for the sea. she found herself staring out at it through the living room window, watching the waves wash over the shore, seeing some children playing in the sand.

the buzzer for the dryer goes off and her attention quickly returns to her work. she folds the clothes and puts them away. once that was all taken care of, eilís washed up a bit, changed clothes and headed out into town for groceries. the air smells of the sea and it makes the selkie's heart ache.

eilís heads into the store after parking her car, grabbing a cart and moving through the aisles with her list in hand. fresh fruits and vegetables, some baking supplies... eilís stops and is pulled out of her thoughts when she bumps into someone, a soft gasp leaving her. she doesn't meet the man's gaze, instantly lowering her head and shuffling her feet.
