For All Tn State University Alum, current students, and community members this morning a radio host, Ralph Bristol on 99.7 (Nashville)decided to repeat a statement by a local councilmen and call the university Thug State University. I take issue with defaming my university for several reasons. Do not refer to Tennessee State University as Thug State University. TSU has developed countless leaders. My three diplomas do not say Thug State Universiry. Violence on our campus does not define us. Please contact the following people below. Start with the program manager and let them know that this is not acceptable. I wasnt going to do this because of persoanl feelings, but let me give my Alma Mater so positive social media press. #IamTSU #TnState was not my first choice. GA Tech was, but i didnt get in and A&T & Tuskegee only offered partial scholarships. My Aunt told my mom about a bridge engineering program where if you performed well you could earn a full ride to school. I earned the full ride. At TSU i was an honor student, member of several organizations, led a movement to place 6 to 9 credits of an afrocentric curriculum in the core curriculum. I earned 3 degress from TSU. My first was BS in Architecture Engineering. My second was a MPA in Public Adminstration w/a Healthcare Certificate. My third was an EDs in Adminstration Supervision. Who am I know? I am a social engineer in a nutshell. I work at Fisk. I have been working on a black boys initiative on campus for a few years. I have started a fatherhood initiative. I have worked with mens health issues. Im a community father. I do yoga. What is priority right now is men of color initiative and the think tank. I need your money to support my programs, summer program, & scholarship at Fisk. I need volunteers to help build this initiative. I need people who are interested in being on a community board.
