Paris Olympics 2024: Neeraj Chopra – The gold medalist Neeraj Chopra is an Indian track-and-field athlete who has brought India’s name to the global map of Javelin. Today, he is the holder of a Diamond League title and again earned the new title of India’s Golden Boy at the Paris Olympics 2024. From the Olympics and many other championships, he collected splendid gold medals.
Currently, he is portraying himself as an Indian Athlete at the Paris Olympics 2024. With his hard work and determination, he is now qualified for the finals that will be held on 8 August 2024.
Since emerging as a gold medalist in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games he consolidated his role as the first Indian track-and-field athlete singly to win an Olympic gold and the second Indian athlete overall just after Abhinav Bindras’s double triumph in the 2008 Olympics. Chopra is now paying attention to holding his gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. 
He is truly the inspirational personality of today’s generation. So let’s give some light on Neeraj Chopra’s life journey. 
What are Neeraj Chopra’s life and times?
Neeraj Chopra was born on 24 December 1997 in Khandra, Haryana, India and his forename is Subedar Major Neeraj Chopra. As described above, he is an Indian track and field athlete who is reigning the Olympic champion and World championship in Men’s javelin throw.
His birth took place in the Ror family. Serving in Panipat Haryana, he was born to Satish Kumar who is a farmer, and his mother, Saroj Devi who is a homemaker. Chopra has two siblings and he is the eldest sibling in the family, with two minor siblings.
He completed his schooling in his town and graduated from Chandigarh and as of 2021, he was pursuing a Bachelor of Arts from Punjab. 
Chopra’s family was concerned about his weight when he was a teenager and urged him to start going to the gym in Panipat daily. Chopra would sit at the adjacent Shivaji Stadium to watch boys of his age practice javelin throwing after a session.
Despite the lack of knowledge about javelin in their village, Chopra’s family supported him when they heard about his enthusiasm for the sport. He trained at Shivaji Stadium for a year before moving to the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Panchkula, Haryana, where Naseem Ahmad coached him.
This success in the Olympics was topped off by a sporting career that had started at the age of 13 years. Now he has become the defending champion. At the age of 19, he was also serving as a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in the Indian Army. 
How did Neeraj Chopra’s athletic career begin?
After his parents sent him for training. Subsequently, he began receiving training, and in 2010, he decided to pursue his passion for javelin throwing and applied for admission to the Sports Authority of India facility.
Fortunately, Neeraj caught the attention of renowned javelin thrower Jaiveer Choudhary, who chose to instruct him. He then proceeded to Jalandhar to train with other superior javelin throwers. Neeraj pleaded with his father to let him live in Panipat after getting his first medal in a district tournament.
He emerged into the public at the age of fifteen in 2010, he was the nation’s under-16 champion in javelin and in the following years, he received many accolades in the national category.
What are the achievements in his International career?
He secured his first international medal (silver medal) at the Youth Olympic Games qualification competition in Bangkok in 2014.
In 2016, he won a gold medal at the South Asian Games during the athletics final in Guwahati, he also secured gold medals in the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, and hold the position of the first Indian athlete to achieve a world record by setting the record 86.43 m.
His journey was unstoppable besides these medals and achievements. In 2018, Chopra came into triumph during the year 2018 where he won a gold medal during the Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia, and the Asian Games held in Jakarta.
In the finals of the Tokyo Olympics, Chopra also became the holder of one gold medal making him India’s first gold medalist in track and field. 
Therefore, by the end of 2022, Chopra set the highest, national record in the esteem by achieving an 89.94-meter throw. Though the injuries occurred in 2023, he was able to clinch the later World Athletics Championships and the Asian Games.
In 2024, he secured victories at various events, including the Federation Cup and Paavo Nurmi Games. He is tied up for the showdown of the Paris 2024 Olympics and is a proud holder of the gold medal. Already he has become an inspirational story for many other individuals.
He is competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics and representing India at the global level of Games. If he secured the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, Chopra would be marked in the history of the Olympics.

For his commendable and unforgettable contributions to sports, Neeraj Chopra has been awarded many awards. The notable awards are the Padma Shri Award, the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, and the Vishisht Seva Medal by the Indian Army.

Sydney Michelle McLaughlin-Levrone (August 7, 1999) is a hurdler and sprinter who competes in the 400-meter hurdles. She is the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2024 Paris Olympics champion and 2022 World champion. She set a world record time of 50.65 seconds at the US Olympic Trials (2024). She is the first track athlete to break four world records in the same event: setting four world records during 13 months, she was the first woman to break the 52-second (2021) and 51-second (2022) barriers in the 400 m hurdles. She won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships. She took gold as part of a women’s 4 × 400 m relay team.
She was the 2015 World Youth Champion. In 2016, she was the youngest athlete since 1980 to qualify for the Olympic track team, having placed third at the US Olympic Trials, with the world under-18 best of 54.15 seconds, the world U20 record. She holds the current world U20 record of 53.60 seconds, having achieved a junior personal best of 52.75 seconds (2018). She is the only woman who broke the 51-second barrier, leaving her with a nearly one-second advantage on the world's all-time list. She holds six out of the ten fastest times on this list. She was the 2019 Diamond League champion.
In 2022, she was voted World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year.
She was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Willie McLaughlin, a member of the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame as a three-time All-American, and Mary Neumeister McLaughlin, a 2:12 half-miler at Cardinal O’Hara High School in Tonawanda, New York, where she ran on the boys’ team.
She grew up in Dunellen, New Jersey. She was the first two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in Track & Field. Her sister, Morgan, ran for St. Peter’s University. Her brother, Taylor, ran for the University of Michigan and won silver in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships. He and she both qualified for the 2016 US Olympic team. Her brother, Ryan, was the fifth member of the family to win a New Jersey county track title.

Neeraj Chopra is an Indian athlete who competes in the javelin throw. He was born on December 24, 1997, in Khandra village of Panipat district, Haryana, India. He comes from a family of farmers and was interested in sports since his childhood.
Chopra started his athletics career as a sprinter and a cricket player. However, he later switched to javelin throw and trained under the guidance of coach Naseem Ahmad. He quickly made a name for himself in the junior circuit, winning gold medals at the 2016 South Asian Games and the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships.
In 2018, Chopra broke the national record in javelin throw with a throw of 87.43 meters at the Diamond League event in Doha. He also won gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2018 Asian Games, setting a new national record of 88.06 meters in the latter.

Sir Mohamed Muktar Jama Farah CBE OLY (born Hussein Abdi Kahin; March 23, 1983) is a British long-distance runner. His ten global championship gold medals make him the most successful male track distance runner ever, and he is the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history.
He is the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medallist in both the 5,000 m and 10,000 m. He is the second athlete, to win both the 5,000 m and 10,000 m titles at successive Olympic Games. He completed the ‘distance double’ at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships in Athletics. After finishing second in the 10,000 meters at the 2011 World Championships, he had an unbroken streak of ten global final wins. The streak ended in his final championship track race, when he finished second in the 2017 5,000-meter final.
He mostly competed for over 5,000 m and 10,000 m but has run competitively from 1,500 m to the marathon. In 2017, he indicated his intention to switch wholly to road racing following victory at his final track race, the 2017 IAAF Diamond League 5,000 m final. He won the 2018 Chicago Marathon in a time of 2:05:11, a European record.
Born in present-day Somaliland, was trafficked from Djibouti to London, at the age of nine where he was forced into child labor. He adopted the name, becoming a British citizen. He is the European record holder for the 10,000 m, half marathon, marathon, and two miles, the British record holder for the 5,000 m, the British indoor record holder for the 3,000 m, and the current world record holder for the one hour run and indoor world record holder for the two miles.
He was the first British athlete to win two gold medals at the same world championships. He has won the European Athlete of the Year award and the British Athletics Writers Association British Athlete of the Year award more than any other athlete, three times and six times. In 2017, he won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

At the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Monaco, Usain Bolt demonstrated once again, as he approaches his career’s finish line, that he is still a winner.
Despite making a sluggish start on the Stade Louis II track, the Bolt effect a sporting world has come to know and love duly took place from 30 metres onwards, and with 20 metres remaining the 30-year-old was already closing down and cruising before he crossed the line in 9.95, 0.03 ahead of his closest challenger, Isiah Young of the United States.
