iRobot/Bladerunner Waldo idea, which is basically making Waldo a brand of helper robot, but there are defective ones the Detective needs to find. Or they were meant to help the Detective’s family, and they kept glitching out, so they are on the fifth replacement model, the others are thrown away, but reactivate and come back in various states of decay, like Ex Machina. (I never played Detroit: Beyond Human but I imagine it would have parallels to those ideas too)
Ooo, ok, idea, kinda weird: Wenda is the female version. Detective has had this model, but at some point she is damaged beyond repair, so they order a new one, but a glitch has the company send the Waldo model instead. They try to fix it, but the automated customer service keeps sending Waldos. The Detective isn’t enthused with it, despite Waldo’s helpful demeanor. The rejection causes the Waldos to glitch, confused as to why they are not being wanted, when they have ported memories from the Wenda OS of the Detective being so nice and kind, when now they are cold and distant.

Negotiator (2008) by iRobot, Bedford, MA. “Negotiator is a low-cost, tactical robot designed to meet the basic reconnaissance needs of public safety professionals, such as police and fire departments, counter-terrorism forces and domestic security experts. While the company's PackBot 510 with First Responder Kit focuses on missions requiring a larger robot with more advanced capabilities, Negotiator will provide basic services to a much broader group of public safety professionals. The robot has applications for bomb squads, SWAT teams and surveillance, as well as hazardous material detection. “There is growing support and demand for unmanned ground robots as people recognize the difference they make by offering life saving ‘eyes on’ benefits to teams in the field,” said Joe Dyer, president of iRobot Government and Industrial Robots.” – iRobot Negotiator civil response robot, by Emily Clark.

How Technology is Shaping the Future of Cleaning Services in Australia
Technology is changing the way we live, work, and do business — and the cleaning industry in Australia is no exception. From smart cleaning technology and automation to sustainable innovations, technology is revolutionizing cleaning services across the country.
In this blog, we'll explore how new technology is impacting the future of cleaning services in Australia and what this means for businesses, cleaning professionals, and customers.
1. Smart Cleaning Equipment and Tools
The most notable trend in the cleaning industry is the introduction of intelligent cleaning machines. Floor cleaning robots, robotic vacuum cleaners, and automatic window cleaning machines are now being used both at home and commercially. Not only are these time-saving, but they also reduce human labor.
This is especially helpful in services like end of lease cleaning, where time and thoroughness are of utmost importance. Robot and automated cleaning equipment can help ensure properties are cleaned quickly and to the high level of standards that landlords and real estate agents typically require.
For example, robot vacuum cleaners like the iRobot Roomba or Ecovacs are able to clean large areas with minimal supervision. With intelligent sensors, mapping, and scheduling capabilities, they are ideal for office, hotel, and even aged care facility use.
This kind of technology is particularly handy in Australia, where labor shortages and rising wages make automation an attractive option for cleaning businesses.
2. IoT and Real-Time Monitoring
The Internet of Things (IoT) is also playing a seminal role in cleaning services today. IoT-enabled devices can monitor the usage of bathrooms, soap dispensers, and paper towel supplies in real time. This data tells cleaners exactly where and when to clean, restock, or service.
This means fewer wasted cleaning rounds and better use of time and resources. In facilities like airports, shopping centers, and office buildings, this means better hygiene standards and greater customer satisfaction levels.
3. Green and Sustainable Cleaning Technologies
Sustainability is at the top of Australia's agenda today, and the cleaning sector is doing its part by embracing green cleaning technologies.
There are new cleaning products with fewer chemicals and more biodegradable and natural ingredients. There are even machines that use steam or electrolyzed water for cleaning without relying on harsh chemicals, which makes it safer for the environment and the people using them.
There is also the use of energy-efficient cleaning equipment and water-conserving technology being used on a large scale to reduce environmental footprint. This makes a big difference for businesses going for green certifications and corporate social responsibility.
4. Cloud-Based Scheduling and Communication
Thanks to cloud-based software and mobile apps, cleaning businesses can now schedule, manage personnel, and communicate with clients more efficiently.
These tools facilitate real-time updates, job tracking, and instant feedback from clients. Cleaners can use mobile apps to check tasks, upload photos, or report issues on the go. For clients, it provides transparency and better communication with service providers.
This is especially useful for businesses like carpet cleaning, where booking appointments, confirming job details, and reporting outcomes (like before-and-after photos) can help improve the customer experience and keep businesses better organized.
For businesses with multiple locations or large teams, this kind of system allows for better coordination and quality control.
5. AI and Data Analytics
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics are also increasing in their potential to optimise cleaning operations. By analysing data from sensors and apps, businesses can track performance, identify trends, and more effectively predict cleaning needs.
Data, for example, can show that areas of a building get dirtier at specific times, allowing cleaning schedules to be reorganised accordingly. This avoids wasted effort and delivers a consistently clean environment.
In Australia's competitive cleaning market, these revelations can give businesses a serious edge.
6. Virtual Training and Safety Improvements
Technology has also improved the way cleaners are trained. Virtual reality (VR) and web-based training modules allow employees to learn safety protocols and cleaning techniques in a safe, interactive environment.
This is especially important for risky or industrial cleaning jobs, where safety is of the utmost importance. Such sites guarantee employees who are well-trained, reducing accidents and optimizing job satisfaction.
Final Thoughts
The cleaning industry in Australia is experiencing a major transformation, driven by innovation and smart technology. Robots and data analytics, green equipment, and cloud-based systems are some of the developments that are making cleaning services more efficient, safe, and sustainable than ever before.
As technology continues to evolve, cleaning businesses that embrace these advancements will be well positioned to surpass customer expectations, reduce costs, and stay ahead of the competition.
Whether you’re a business owner, a cleaning professional, or a customer, it’s clear that the future of cleaning in Australia is bright — and it’s powered by technology.
