hi atlas!! if you’re comfortable with answering (if no I get it, gotta keep something secret yk) I was wondering how do you make your posters ?? im curious because the editing is so cool
hi!!! i'm happy to share somewhat how i make them for sure! im afraid i cant give like a fully comprehensive tutorial Because a lot of what i do is so trial and error, but i can give some basics!! (under the cut so this isnt super long on the dash fjrnd)
so, firstly, i use picsart to make them! also, i find a majority of the images i use from pinterest, though if there's a specific image i want i'll just look it up (like in the example below i Knew i wanted to use a png of old school headphones, so googled that, but for the paper background searched for crumpled paper png on pinterest till i found the one i used)
the most important tools i use for making the posters are (as pictured below):
- remove bg: pretty self explanatory, i use this to remove the backgrounds of images i use and make them transparent. sometimes, it doesn't remove the background properly/as i want it so i Also use the app magicEraser. this is, like, the most vital thing so make all assets of a poster blend together
- effects: also relatively self explanatory? but i use this feature to add a lot of the coloring/textures that you see on the posters. below this i'll show an example of a poster with and without the effects to show what these effects can do. they're especially great because of the variation of filters they have, and how you can mess with every aspect of them (hue, noise, fade, etc)
- mask: my absolute beloved and favorite tool. what differentiates this from effects is that effects are more filters that change color, these masks are textures/visual additions that change the entire composition of a design. this is the tool i use that adds the crumpled/folded paper textures all of the posters have. similarly, you're able to change the intensity of the mask, as well as have some control over where the visual falls on the image.

example: this is the tttyg poster before i added any of the effects or masks!

the biggest thing, and why i cant be more specific about What effects or What masks to use to make posters is just that. it depends on what you're trying to accomplish and what you're going for. i always start with picking what the base will be, for these posters that's what the base paper png will be, then what imagery matches the vibe i'm going for to make transparent, then the font that goes with the album, and then once all of the pieces are together (as seen on the left with the tttyg poster), i add the effects and masks to finish the poster fully. for the tttyg poster, i knew i wanted it to look accurate to the time (2003), like it Was 20 yrs old, and i wanted to really make that turquoisey color prominent, so i chose filters and masks that accentuated the turquoise, and added in the most realistic texture. the goal for each poster is different, so what i do on each is different.
hopefully this helps at all! never really written any sort of tutorial or tips for my process because, as i said, i truly just go through trial and error to figure stuff out but this is what i've found are the most helpful tools!
#again hopefully this helps at all! happy to clarify anything if u need :3#ALSO thank u for thinking the editing is cool :') im incredibly new to this stuff so. truly no clue what im doing still but <3 mwah#asks#anon

hi I'm literally in love with ur art style but I have to know... how did you like,,, learn. teach me your ways xx
ahh thank you so much omg!!!!! <3 <3
ngl all my art skills are from BOATLOADS of YouTube (and a few tumblr) tutorials & speedpaints tbh!! i'm really sorry tho, I didn't save tutorials back when I was learning, so I can't show you all those /: but if any of your fave artists have youtubes, definitely check those out and see how they work!! Also staring at artists you like's work for inordinately long times (aka studying paintings) is super helpful
Tho if you want some tutorials from me, I have some stuff in my #art help tag! And I'd be happy to try make more tutorials if you have any specific art advice needs -- just drop an ask!!
#if you need literally any elaboration plz send more asks!!! im always happy to help#but yeah the upshot is 100% just youtube and years of practice LMAO#when i was younger i rlly liked sara tepes and ross draws' tutorials i think!!!! also jacquelin deleon's speedpaints! cant remember the res#oh also i've never rlly watched them but i heard synix design's tutorials are super good!!#and you can find tonnes of tutorials for specific things if you search on yt!! (or if you again want to ask me lol!)#but yeah tbh i learn a LOT from just watching an artist work ie no instruction just a plain timelapse/speedpaint#thanks for the ask!#u can literally learn anything from youtube. i can't think of many skills i've got from somewhere that isnt youtube lmao#⋆

any lolita blouse tips..? i want to transform some old mens dress shirts into some basic blouses, but with lace and bows and the works of course. i also cant seem to find any patterns for a from scratch shirt. its very frusterating, but i would like to start my projects, so i thought i wiuld ask you! 🌸 also can i ask about sailor blouses.. sailor collars seem so intimidating but sailor lolita is my dream….
ps; forgive me if the tone or language is wrong. im not a fluent english speaker..
In my list of things to make, I have like 12 yards of white stretch shirting and these two vogue patterns:
I like pattern on the left, 9029, because of its fitted torso. That matches up with a lot of blouses that I like to wear with skirts. It also has an option for cuffs with ruffles, which is nice because it means I don't need to pattern or adjust for lolita cuffs. The collar would need to be rounded out, and then lace or other details would need to be added to really bring this home as a made-for-lolita blouse.
I like that there's basically a hime sleeve option on the right, 9299, and I like the banded collar option. I'm usually all for patterning my collars to be cute and rounded RIGHT UP UNTIL I actually have to do it, and then I'm pretty okay with a standing collar instead.
Both of these were also chosen because there's a picture of them with the front button actually buttoned. Not all shirts are meant to be buttoned up all the way like we wear them in lolita.
I was pretty interested in this one as a basic pattern for a really simple button-up, and then realized the front is sewn shut and the opening is in the back. I assume that if you don't want to do a velcro closing, you can probably stick an invisible zipper in there. The reason I'm still mentioning this pattern is that, if you're new to sewing, sticking the closure in the back can be really helpful because it makes it easier to make the front look good when it's just a fake front. I mentioned this earlier in a blouse post but I've been looking for it for like 20 minutes and no luck. Thanks, tumblr search.
There's a livejournal post from 2004 that I've always found inspirational for lolita blouses.
Here's a tutorial for a sailor-collar cardigan. Skip to step 12 and it'll go into a bit about how the collar is shaped and how to add it. The tutorial is very much how tutorials were about lolita in 2008 and so don't worry if it's overwhelming. They used to all be like that. There's other sailor collar resources out there but I don't have them on hand. Check the notes on this post. People frequently post nice stuff there for advice.

hello! i dont know if you already answered this but how do you make stamps? i've been searching but i cant find tutorials, only for blinkies. if you dont want to answer it's ok!
i literally just searched "deviantart stamp template," found one that was the right dimensions (99×56), and copy-pasted it into SAI (tho any art program of your choice would work just as well). then just draw on it (i make all my stuff by hand but i'm sure you could find typefaces that work at a small size and backgrounds free online)
a quick search just now led me to this page which may help you: www.deviantart.com/stamp-heaven/gallery/24019293/Resources-and-Templates
if you want gif stamps then just make whatever frames you want in your gif, export them all, and find an online gif maker (i like ezgif.com because it allows many file types, lets you reorder, copy, and delete frames, and allows custom timing for every individual frame) and slap 'em all on there.
happy stamping!

How did you learn to make the Goodnotes sets? I've been wanting to make my own with my digital art for personal use and I've searched the internet but I cant find anyone who will say how to make tabs etc. do you have any tips?
tbh I learned it all myself because no one had tutorials and youtube is useless for this as well as the fact that people gate keep for some reason. but I basically can say design is design and you need to plan on your own how you want it to look but
I use powerpoint. basically use shapes and then link them to their own slides. that’s the key information I struggled to figure out and then I went crazy and just came up with designs. tbh it’s all about shaping and then linking. I use powerpoint and photoshop for this religiously.
