There’s a shadow lurking on the fire escape outside of Jay’s apartment.

As much as Jay wants it to be, he already knows it isn’t Jon, because Jon is in China helping Kenan with some kind of arms-trafficking case. Jay would have tagged along, but it’s finals season at MU—he has a collective twenty-five pages to write across all of his classes by Sunday, and three exams over the next two days. It’s hell. He would literally rather risk the goons with laser guns and bombs than finish his projects. 

He doesn’t hear the window slide open. If it is who he thinks it is, he knows he won’t hear anything at all. 

“Robin,” says Jay, without looking up. “Nice of you to drop by.”

“Fifteen seconds.” Robin steps into the dim light of the living room, his arms folded over his chest. “Not bad.”

“Give me a sec, I’m almost done.” Jay hits submit, stretches his arms above his head, stands, and motions Robin to follow him into the kitchen. He rummages through his cabinets and glances over his shoulder. “Can I get you anything? Tea? Hot chocolate?”

“Hot chocolate, please,” says Robin, because apparently he has no qualms about breaking into people’s apartments, but still somehow has manners. “I needed to talk to you about something. Has Jon ever told you about some of my family’s more . . . peculiar habits?”

“Um.” Jay thinks for a minute while he stirs in the hot chocolate powder. “If nobody gets injured during patrol, your butler makes you cookies.”

Robin’s brows pinch. “He said what—never mind, that’s not important. Did he mention anything else?”

“Not that I can remember,” Jay says, as he passes Robin a mug, “but to be fair, pretty much everything your family gets up to is peculiar, even by normal superhero standards.”

“True,” Robin agrees. “In any case, I’m here to discuss one such habit. I’ve been told that it’s an effort most don’t appreciate, but my family finds it necessary, so consider this a courtesy call.”

“How ominous,” Jay says. “All right, lay it on me. What could I possibly help Robin with?”

“I need some of your DNA.”

like, theoretically, if i had started writing it, it would be that eddie has a mod nicknamed "pumpkin" due to their screen name being "pumpkineater". and, again theoretically, he definitely showed favoritism towards this "pumpkin" as he's hopelessly in love with their wit, the way they give him shit, their sense of humor, their taste in general media, etc.

and, you know, stuff happens. mods having game nights with eddie in his community, movie nights that he only joins to hear pumpkin's voice, so on and so forth. and said moderator recently moved across the country, conveniently staying anonymous in their location besides timezones, never realizing they'd moved right into eddie's hometown.

until, you know, theoretically, eddie is popular enough to be invited to guest at a con. and how could he attend a gaming convention without his favorite moderators in tow? specifically pumpkin?

but. this is all theoretical of course. i definitely don't already have a google doc named "pumpkin eater" with 1.8k+ words already. totally not.

i definitely do and this is definitely my shitty little crackfic i've been living in fantasyland with frequently as of late when i want to play around in less serious settings/tones/angst

So if there’s anything to take away from Bowser’s Inside Story it’s the lesson that the size disparity we see between different iterations of Bowser are caused by Near Death Experiences, and the following adrenaline rush

This can be seen directly in Super Mario Bros Wii, where after dunking Bowser into the lava in typical Mario Bros fashion, he comes back a solid 5 times his size. Not the biggest we’ve seen him, but still.

This then implies before games like Mario Galaxy and Bowser’s Fury something aside from Mario nearly killed Bowser, sending him into these adrenaline filled, power hungry rages.

This has the biggest implications, to me personally, for Mario Sunshine, the first game Bowser Jr makes his appearance, and the only time we see Bowser in his massive form not in a state of all out attack. He’s actually rather calm, and has his most iconic show of emotion to date. 

Am I going somewhere with all of this? No not really, I’m just thinking about it and wanna share where my brain is currently.

All you need to know about how my brain works is that my two favourite shows to binge rewatch are Staged and Total Forgiveness.

I've never liked the ReDead. Creepy, screaming, undead things. Though making them dance in Majora's Mask always amuses me. But. Ugh. ReDead.

The Gibdo were slightly better. Less creepy design, though if I'm remembering correctly they could have the bandages burned off and reveal the ReDead underneath in some of the games. Yeah.

But there's something particularly unnerving about the Gibdo in Tears of the Kingdom. The design is distinctly ReDead-esque, occasionally with pretty moth wings thrown in. And the hive-like behavior is unsettling. They're evil insects that either infest dead bodies or evolved to look like dead bodies. And both ideas are fascinating, but...

It is not making it any easier for me to navigate the poorly lit Lightning Temple when the Gibdo are smacking my 'creeped out' buttons. At least these guys don't scream. They just... unnaturally elongate their spines as they get closer to a victim.

Of course its the temple that actually looks like a real Zelda dungeon that has the horror elements in it. *sigh* Careful what I wish for, indeed.
