Time to start a new drama and this is another one I found via gifs on @sarah-yyy's blog, which is usually a good sign of quality :D

I love starting a new drama. Is this going to ruin my life (positive) or ruin my life (negative). Only time will tell.

Wow this is the most awkward radio call ever. I have no idea how radio shows in Korea work but surely they'd do some sort of screening before having an idol call a random woman who can't walk and offering her running shoes as a prize. I don't blame her at all for being pissed off.

Also, this wasn't what I was expecting from the synopsis. I thought she was the sunshine one and he was the angsty one. Well, we'll see what happens I guess.

GUN has really shot themselves in the foot with TCM recently. I'm going to rant beneath the cut, feel free to let me know your thoughts too.

I main family (Johnny, Cook, Nubbins, or Leatherface if our team needs it) with my husband and we absolutely hate going against 4 man squads. They bully the shit out of the family and then act like they won the Olympics as they t-bag at the exits until we come to watch their asses grind the dirt.

If they get the valve on, someone has to camp it the rest of the game. Often, two people have to guard it in case two victims team up to chain backstab the poor guy.

Now that they've hidden groups and levels, I feel really ambivalent about playing family anymore. I used to enjoy playing with lower level victims and giving them a fun game, letting them get away, and generally ensuring they aren't turned off from the game. Or playing against non-teamed high levels for a fun challenge. Now I have to treat every game like I'm going against the aforementioned t-bagging Olympic athlete Navy seal 4-man team and it isn't fun for me to try hard every goddamn game. But if I don't, and they do turn out to be a 4 man squad of level 80+, then I've fucked myself going easy on them. And you can be assured they will act high and mighty about beating me.

But it isn't even just four man squads. Let's face it—Texas Chainsaw maps are puzzles and most victims have them figured out. Now the entire game is patrolling doors and if you somehow miss them on your patrol they're out and you're fucked. You can't re-lock doors. You can't guard almost opened doors like you can generators in Dead by Daylight until they regress. And dont even think about going into the basement as anyone other than Sissy and Nubbins because they'll disappear into any one of the cracks never to be seen again and while you're fruitlessly chasing them, Connie has blown a lock and escaped.

And now they're nerfing Cook's ear stacking even though while he's stacking it he's literally standing still AND you can counter it by 1. Stopping running or 2. Clear all stacks by going into a freezer/dresser.

It takes minimum TWENTY MINUTES to find a match now, even if one of us plays Leatherface. And even though there's 1 family player per 50 victim players, the victims still treat us like they're hot shit and we're piñatas there to be beaten up for their entertainment. And that's not even to say we're bad, we're actually quite good at family. But when we do win, victims have some shit to say.

Not all victims are shitheads but so many of them are and I'm sure you non-shithead victim players have had to listen to your teammates rant at the family in the end game lobby.

And GUN is not making anything better. They could, idk, make it so only ONE fuse and ONE valve spawn on the map so at least the victims have to look a little bit longer. They could give the family a fucking mini map so we have knowledge of our own property. They could give us shirtless Johnny all-fucking-ready.

But no, we must instead suffer not knowing what sort of victims we're going against and completely annihilating newer players just in case they do turn out to be those four man 99 squads we so dread. As 2 players with a random, we just can't coordinate well enough to properly face off against a 4 man. They should make lobbies for full squads to go against full squads so solo q and duos dont have to be shit on, on either side.

Idk man. I love Texas Chainsaw. I have almost 300 hours in it. And I still have a MASSIVE crush on Johnny Slaughter. But... I think I'm going to quit. I'll come back and play for a week when new maps come out so we can all enjoy the freshness of no one knowing what's going on, but the moment that map is solved, I'm not gonna deal with it. Playing family is hell, most of the time I feel like the victim.

Oh no, I have just unrepressed the memory of the time I watched the CEO of Hasbro die on stage in front of several thousand people

I can't begin to explain to you where I was, because every time I tried it sounded like I was in a cult or had competed in the Olympics. But I was at a secular event that brought together young people from many countries and throughout the United States. It was a lovely time, I met people from places that I have never met anyone from since and probably never would have, the delegation from Aotearoa taught us about the haka, which is fuckin the most badass thing I think I've ever seen in real life, it was great. Impossible to explain, but great.

One of the aspects of the event was getting us into activism. This was a time when the world was really optimistic about a lot of things that it's not optimistic about now? Like I worked on landmine removal as my focus, and it was things like that that we can all agree are bad, but are sticky situations that need time, money, and labor to be fixed.

If you're wondering this was in July 2001.

So I do not remember who the young woman at the crux of this story was. She was a young woman of color who was an activist, and I can't even remember the cause, but I can remember her speech, because she got like 2000 high school students super fired up with the refrain that young people aren't the future, young people are the present.

We had probably 20 speakers over the course of this event who were all supposed to be like uplifting? But the only ones I really remember clearly are her, and the CEO of Hasbro. You know why?

Because he directly followed her speech, and one of the very first things out of his mouth was "you are our future."

I have never seen anyone lose an audience so quickly in my entire goddamn life, and I was a classical musician and a college instructor, so I'd know. My man not only walked into that, but also he clearly did not know what he had walked into. There was some kind of logistical problem, and he didn't hear her talk at all; he basically came like from the airport to the stage and just absolutely ate shit. This poor man had no idea why everybody responded so negatively to his speech, and I do feel kind of bad for him, but now, 20 years later,

It is still the funniest fucking thing that I think I've ever been witness to.

Because can you imagine?? You just came off of your plane to do this feel-good event, you're just supposed to make a quick speech about how the future is bright for young people, you say something perfectly anodyne and cheerful, and 2,000 kids just tell you to go fuck yourself! I felt bad for him then and I feel bad for him now, but god it was the most amazing piece of storytelling possible.

I feel like it adds to the story, though I'm not sure what, that Hasbro gave us free giveaways with it. Everybody got two free boxed computer games, and when I got them home, the support for the online features had already expired.

But, and this is just one of very many specific examples, if a brand is going for a tattered, grubby aesthetic and sells a worn-out looking shirt for thousands of dollars, that's when I start to kind of make fun of it and the people who buy it.

How soon do you normally decorate for holidays? We only ever decorate for Christmas, and in our case and because my family is Filipino, we usually have our tree up by early October.

ngl genshin is like, one of the first games of these type, that i played yknow?? like i didn’t know shit at all, so i just did stuff randomly and i was such a noob and didn’t do basic stuff so i remember, i was fighting a world boss (the big boys; stormterror) and it took me like twenty minutes just to beat it up :/ anyways, to avoid wasting time as a noob and to avoid doing 5 dmg per hit again a 100000 hp mob LOL

u should def work on leveling up ur characters, weapons, and artifacts. if u have any 4* weapons, u should def level those up! and 3* are the next go to. this is assuming u don’t have 5* weapons. u can always use the 3* weapons as enhancement materials once u get better weapons; same goes for artifacts. there’s not much options for artifacts when ur new, so u can pretty much level up whatever, but pay attention to the set bonus for a little boost! u can read up on ur character’s kit (talents n all that), and see if they receive any bonuses from scaling on certain stats. example: i believe noelle’s sweeping time does more dmg based on her defense, so i’ll find artifacts that have defense sub stats

also, resin is VERY precious, and it refreshes every eight minutes, so while you can, try to use all ur resin so u can have more resources that can be sued in the long run. i think at the moment, the only thing u can do with resin as a noob is do the mora/xp leylines

also, don’t give into peer pressure when it comes to characters. just get the characters u like and don’t pay attention to the meta :// it ruins things. ALSO, everyone says the weapon banner is a waste for “f2p” and whatever, but at one point, ur gonna have enough characters that u like to use and some upcoming characters just don’t appeal to u.. so if u like a weapon and u want it, don’t be afraid to roll on the banner. i feel like in terms of long term investment, a 5* weapon is much better than being a “character collector.” but that also depends on the person LOL i don’t mind skipping characters so that’s why i have room to wish on weapon banner :’>

 I am glad you asked this. I understand what you mean very well, don’t worry. 

 Short answer: Putin is not at all like he is portrayed by USA. He is one of the most intelligent, well-spoken, diplomatic, and hard-working politicians I know.

 Directly, about his position about gays: watch this and this. There are a few translation errors, but otherwise the English version is good.

 He is linked to Trump for the simple reason that the previous government managed to establish in the eyes of Americans that Russia and Putin are Evil™ , and so if Trump is associated to Putin, that means he is evil too. 

 Long answer: more detailed geopolitic explanation below the cut

I’ll try to explain.

 Putin (and Russia) is portrayed in a bad light because USA is very russophobic (the reasons are historic mainly) and controls the vast majority of the mainstream media around the world. All the “American allies”, which are Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan and so on, are following and obeying USA, so “their” media is basically a more regional-centered version of USA state medias. All that to tell you, whatever path USA chooses to follow regarding an issue, the greater part of the media will choose it as well.

 I don’t think there was ever a moment when USA didn’t portray Russia in a bad light since the end of the WWII. Even after the Cold War, USA kept the “bad Russian” rhetoric, under Clinton and Bush, but it reached an extreme peak during the Obama administration. 

 Now, about the homophobia in Russia. In 2014, Russia held the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Obama and his cabinet were very upset about it, and wanted to spoil the event (because the Olympic Games, just like the World Cup that Russia is hosting in 2018, are a major source of cultural influence and an economic bonanza for the host if its economy is stable and developping, which is Russia’s case, and USA hates to see other countries successful because they want to remain a Hegemon). In order to do this, they attempted to boycott the Games, under the pretext that Russia is oh so very homophobic. Why did they choose the homosexual subject to pretend to be outraged over, I cannot tell. Maybe they couldn’t find anything else. In any case, they found the Russian law from 2010, and started a massive anti-Russian campaign across the mainstream media some months prior to the Games to influence the public opinion so the reason of their boycott would be seen as legitimate.

 Actual situation of gays in Russia: they cannot marry; and if adults are cought encouraging minors to become gay, they will face a fine (this law is not applied on the whole Russian territory, but in specific regions who voted for it. Russia functions a bit like the American states, each “state” which is called “region” can have differences in law) (and it is not Putin who wrote the law either). I agree that it is not very gay-friendly, but it is not at all as dramatic as the American media tried to portray. There are people who are convinced, thanks to this anti-Russian propaganda, that gays are killed or jailed or deported in Russia, which is absolutely not the case. If a person above 16 (sexual majority in Russia) decides to be gay, he can be so without any problem. After that, there are a lot of homophobic people in Russia, but that is not related to the government, and not Putin’s responsibility either. It is a more cultural aspect, and everywhere in the world there are homophobic people, even in the Netherlands.

 USA’s pretended outrage about the “homophobia in Russia” is ridiculous when you remember the fact that one of their closest allies and friends is Saudi Arabia, a country where homosexuals face a death punishment by law. And not only Saudi Arabia, the majority of Islamic countries have these same laws. Yet USA never made a scandal about that. Mainstream media almost never mentions it. And that is because they do not really care about gay rights. They simply attempted to harm Russia by boycotting the Olympic Games under a pretext. A lack of consistency equals a lack of principles.

 Anyway, their boycotting didn’t work, because the American allies did not want to punish their athletes and prevent them from going to Russia, so USA had to go to Sochi at the end. But they did succeed to manipulate the public opinion, and now plenty of people think that Russia is the most homophobic place in the world or that Putin is an evil homophobe. Especially kids on Tumblr. Which is very upsetting, because Russia is not even the most homophobic country in Europe.

I've read the meta on how S2 could be somewhat saved if they did this or that, but what do you honestly think S2 will be like? Do you think the next story could turn out *decently* despite S1's plot holes? That the writing will remain poor for popularity's sake, or go back up? Like, what are you expecting from S2 after everything that happened, good and bad? I love all your analyses, so I'm very curious!

Well, I’ve talked with @soobaki about this a lot. And I’m probably going to echo her answer (x)

After episode 12 and after all the post-finale interviews I’ve seen…I don’t know. I don’t know what to expect. I had complete trust in the writing before the finale happened and they did what they did. There’s also the fact that we’re moving from a project fueled only by love to one fueled by massive popularity and absurd amounts of cash. Best case scenario, the only thing this affects is giving the series a bigger budget and a better animation, on par with ep1 of the first season. Worst case scenario, more pandering to the fandom, narrative structure and character arcs be damned. 

Realistically, we’re in for some angst. I talked about it a bit here (x). But…YOI is a lighthearted show. It’s meant to be happy and full of wish-fulfillment unless you’re Yuuri in which case enjoy your silver and try harder. The staff is also hellbent on selling the lies story about how the finale was planned from the start and that Victor and Yuuri are 100% perfect with no problems, so there will be no acknowledgement of Victor’s decision being a 180º from episode 10 and there will be no acknowledgement of Victor and Yuuri needing The Talk. So narrative consistency be damned. Which I’m conflicted about. On the one hand I’m tired and disappointed, on the other hand I do want to see Yuuri and Victor be happy…*longest sigh in the world*

I’m particularly worried by the implication of further more seasons, as in plural, for various reasons…

There’s the matter of the skating itself. The season isn’t over, so if we stay in the current skating season the main event of s2 could be Four Continents or Worlds. Skip the nationals, which both Yuuri and Victor sweep, respectively, and jump right into one of the other two. Alternatively, trying to keep a minimum of realism, Victor doesn’t compete in the Russian nationals, because he only has two weeks to practice and come up with two new programs, but since he’s Victor Nikiforov he’s allowed to move on directly to other championships.

The problem with going Four Continents route is that Victor and Yurio can’t compete in those. While that could fix the problem/ridiculousness of Victor both coaching and competing against Yuuri at the same time, it would be putting two of our three main characters out of the game and we can’t have that. So most likely it will be Worlds.

Another problem though, is that every single character would be using the same programs. We would only get new ones from Victor. This is a problem because1) the narrative purpose of the programs has basically run its course except for Yuuri’s because he was robbed 2) there is a chance of the audience growing bored of watching the same programs for another entire 12 episodes.One way to fix this would be to reanimate the programs. Have them up to ep1′s Stammi Vicino levels quality, with different angles and camera movements and proper cinematography and animation. Another would be to focus less on the skating itself and more on developing characters and relationships outside of skating. Not just our main trio, but all the secondary characters we’ve only briefly met. 

If they decide to skip ahead to the next season we would have to go through the Grand Prix process all over again and this has the same problem of potentially feeling repetitive for the audience. Though in this case we would have the advantage of new programs and new characters.

They’re probably saving 2018 Olympics for a third season. Or a movie. Please don’t let that be the only time Yuuri wins gold but do have him win gold there for the love of God

But what I actually expect from s2 at this point, ok, let’s go (pretty much paraphrasing @soobaki here though):

Victor retcon. It’s a must to keep this “he was never going to retire” sham. 

Injury storyline. I can feel it. Kubo even said that it would have happened to Victor in s1 if the anime was longer than just those 12 episodes, and it is now (x) It will hit either Victor or Yurio although with Yuuri’s luck might as well be him awww Yuuri you didn’t win gold AGAIN we need to do a season 3

Makkachin is old…It was mentioned in an interview that part of the reason Victor took the season off was to be with Makkachin during what might be their last year so why are you going back NOW Victor???? So…high chances that Makkachin passes away and Victuuri get a new puppy
