➷ it was something that started out as a mere curiosity turned into an insatiable longing that persistently drew him back to the same place every single night. after a long and tiring day in his secluded office, cero sought solace in a place bustling with neon lights and busy bodies grinding against each other.
➷ however, the allure of colorful and decorative drinks wasn’t what made him return each night. it was the sensation of your soft lips brushing against his and your body pressing against him closely that dissolved all his problems. your time together became his nightly routine as much as it became yours.
➷ adorned in a black robe made of fine silk that stopped above your knees–one of cero’s extravagant gifts–you settled on the king sized bed, meticulously prepared by the club for its most discerning clients, awaiting the ceo who was unusually running late.
➷ cero soon arrived a few minutes past your appointed meeting time. you quickly rose to greet him as usual, but to your surprise, he wasn’t alone. a towering figure trailed behind him, pausing by the door.
cero saunters over to where you stood, slowly taking off his blazer that had started to weigh heavily on his shoulders after wearing it for the entire day. he blocks your vision of the man that stood attentively by the door, making you divert your attention away from the man to the ceo in front of you. cero wraps an arm around your waist to catch your attention.
"the color suits you well," he comments as soon as he notices his gift worn by you. a smile adorns his lips as he stares you down with hungry eyes that you could feel his gaze slowly undressing you. you return his smile with a sultry one, trying to ignore the eyes that burned a hole through you.
your hands instinctively work to undo his tie slowly as you speak, your curiosity getting the best of you. "who's the unfamiliar face ?" you question quietly, hoping that the conversation does not reach the man's ears.
you hear cero sigh deeply, visibly annoyed. you could imagine him rolling his eyes by the tone of his voice. "a bodyguard," he starts as he leans down to capture your lips in his, hands trailing down your waist to trace its shape. he pulls away after a moment to resume talking. "someone had recently tried to make a move against the company, so father insisted that i bring him along wherever i go or don't leave home at all."
a low hum escapes your lips, listening to his short rant as your hands work on his buttons. you gently slip his dress shirt off, your lips pressing themselves against his shoulder blade as you toss his top aside for him to find later.
it isn't long before he finds himself buried deep inside you, ordering you to hold your legs apart as you’re forcibly faced towards the unsuspecting bodyguard. cero’s fingers knead at your swollen buds, teeth sinking on your exposed shoulders to leave marks.
you start to feel conscious as your eyes land on the man by the door who was forced to watch the entire thing. you were starting to think that cero purposely made you face his bodyguard to try and throw him off. if that was the case, it wasn't working.
"your bodyguard's hard," your raspy voice catches the ceo's attention, his eyes trailing down to confirm your statement. there was indeed an obvious tent forming on the bodyguard's slacks, restrained by the tight fabric. you inwardly snicker when you notice the male attempting to slightly shift sideward to hide his embarrassment.
"wouldn’t you be a bad employer if you left him in that state ?" you prod at the ceo, your words hinting your intent. as much as you favored cero, you didn't mind pulling in another client. it would only mean more income for you, and his bodyguard wasn't too bad looking either, so there was no reason to leave him out of the fun.
cero doesn't seem too pleased with your suggestion, a deep frown now etched onto his lips.
"are you suggesting that he joins in ?" cero questions, his tone failing to hide his disapproval. his fingers pinch and twist at your pink buds, leaving you shuddering and twitching in his embrace. blood instantly rushed up your cock when cero’s tip successfully prod at all the right spots that made you melt against him.
you try to muster up words despite barely being able to form a coherent sentence. cero eventually understood that this was something you wanted, and as much as he hated the thought of having someone else lay their hands on you, he could never turn down a request from you.
"elliott." defeated, cero calls for his bodyguard. in an instant, the bodyguard's attention is on the ceo, a startled expression on his face. cero gestures for him to move closer, and compliant to his employer's commands, elliot hurriedly brings himself over. his large stature led you to think that he'd be more snappy and alert, but his movements were unexpectedly awkward and stiff.
elliot's gaze briefly met yours, your vision blurred with all the tears that cascaded down your cheeks; half-lidded eyes filled with pleasure. his gaze is suddenly ripped away when a hand roughly grabs at his cheeks, forcing his attention away from your form to meet cero's stern gaze.
"you stare too much." cero’s forehead creases, not bothering to hide his displeased expression. he released his grip on elliot. "strip."
"pardon ?" elliot's expression is replaced with one of disbelief, his mouth slightly agape upon hearing the order. however, one look from the ceo was enough to make him start stripping himself of his clothing, knowing his job, and possibly his life, was on the line.
your eyes watch with interest as the male strips himself bare before you, and as expected, he had a good build that was totally up your alley. compared to cero, elliot was a lot bigger; both in body size and–
a hand harshly drapes itself over your eyes and forces your head back, shrouding your vision in complete darkness. you can both hear and feel cero's hot breath caressing your skin, making you stiffen as the realization of your mistake dawns over you. “i don’t appreciate the way you’re eyeing my employee, y/n.” the ceo’s lips brush against your sensitive earlobe, the sharp edge in his tone causing a shiver to run down your spine.
“I didn’t expect you to be the jealous type,” you poke fun at him in a lighthearted manner. you hear cero scoff at your words before he slams himself inside of you once more, making you jolt in surprise. your limited vision heightens your senses, making everything you feel twice as pleasurable (or painful) compared to having your eyesight.
cero pauses abruptly, his cock still buried deep within you, as he feels your whole form tremble against him. your grip around your own legs falters slightly. you could feel each vein on cero’s throbbing erection, making you conscious of his every movement. “keep your legs up, we’re just getting started.”
your thoughts are a mess, your inability to see beginning to slightly overwhelm you. the hand that temporarily took away your sight was replaced by a thin layer of fabric, an order carried out by cero to elliot who had used his own tie to wrap around your eyes. before you could register anything with your muddled thoughts, a warm and wet sensation wraps around your hardened cock, catching you off guard.
“what–” you cut yourself off with an unexpected whimper escaping your lips when cero suddenly starts to move his hips once more. the action causes you to arch your back slightly, your lips gaped open as wanton moans involuntarily escape them.
in addition to cero’s rapid thrusts that tore at your insides with his size, the lips that wrapped themselves around your erection began to move at a fixed pace.
your fingers instinctively pull at elliott’s brown locks, your breathing ragged as you try to process each sensation their movement brought you; the fingers kneading your nipples, the lips around your member, the teeth leaving marks on your neck, and the dick ramming against your ass. it was all too much for you to handle all at once.
you bite back a moan when you feel yourself getting closer and closer to climax, until you can't hold it back anymore and end up releasing your load down elliot’s throat. your limp member twitches inside elliott’s mouth as he pulls away to detach himself from your cock, licking the remaining remnants of your cum that trickled down his chin.
cero’s thrusts grow more desperate when he feels your walls tighten around him, as if he’s trying to remind you that he was still there. purple bruises and red bite marks litterboth your shoulders, cero having done a number on you. you can feel each mark sting painfully as your sweat glazes over them.
you jolt at the sudden pain on your thigh. elliott buries his teeth on your inner right thigh, his eyes gazing up at your lewd expression. to his surprise, the sensation makes blood rush up your cock once again, and your cheeks flare up in embarrassment.
“what a slut,” cero groans out as his eyes land on your hardened member. the ceo removes his hand from your sore nipples to tug at elliot’s locks, pushing the guard back down on your cock. a gargled sound reaches your ears as elliott struggles to catch his breath from the sudden intrusion in his mouth. “that’s it. this was what you wanted, right ?”
having just recently finished, your cock is in an extremely sensitive state, twitching inside elliott’s mouth. you whimper, the sensation bringing a slight tinge of pain. too much of something is not a good thing after all, and right now you feel overstimulated.
your whole body trembles, a string of curses leaving your mouth as you try to plead for cero to stop moving for a moment. your pleas fall on deaf ears as they focus on chasing their own release. elliot’s hand wraps around his own neglected member, his hands following the pace of his own bobbing head.
it isn’t long before you feel the warmth of cero’s release painting your insides white with his seed. in sync with your second climax, elliot groans against your member as he stains the satin sheets, your overflowing cum trickling down his chin.
you lean tiredly against cero who gives a few more sloppy thrusts before eventually pulling out of you. he gently nuzzles his face on your bruised shoulder, listening intently to your ragged breath as his hand works carefully in untying the fabrics's knot.
“you did well tonight, good boy.”
elliot's tie slides down against your skin as you were met with a blinding light, your vision blurred by your own tears.
your hair stuck to your skin due to excessive sweat, but was soon brushed aside by the ceo who leaned down to plant his lips gently upon your forehead.
needless to say, you received the extra bucks you wanted by the end of the night.

my guy
eddie munson x fem!reader
Eddie being your personal handyman and stupidly in love.
cw: 2k words. no warnings just two kids being absolutely smitten for each other. tooth rotting fluff. teeny allusion to smut. Eddie being a flustered mess bless him. 18+ mdni
AN: this is literally the most low stakes thing i've ever written i just started cheesing at the idea of eddie cheesing at being called your guy
The sputtering of the washing machine startles you.
Huffing, you put your book down on the couch, rising from the depth of the cushions in which you had settled yourself into after finishing your chores and go assess the issue.
"Shit," the floor is wet and you shudder at the feeling of the cold soapy water getting into the bottoms of your socks as you slowly make your way to the washing machine to unplug it.
You try your best to dry the floor, wincing at the feeling of wet socks on the linoleum floor, cursing under your breath at the cold feel of the fabric against your skin.
Despite the floor being dry, your washing machine was broken, and you couldn't afford to buy a new one. Fortunately, your neighbor, Eddie had been your own personal handyman ever since you mentioned in passing that your sink was leaking a bit after moving into your place a couple months ago. The day after he was at your door, toolbox in hand. Your sink was fixed in less than a couple hours.
You knock at his front door, three precise, well timed knocks. Your mind cannot help but start counting just to see how long it will take him to open his door.
One, two, three, four, five, si--
The rattling of the door handle distracts you from your counting. Eddie's eyes are wide as they stare at you. His hair is tied in a low bun and he's fidgeting with a guitar pick in his hand. He must have been playing.
He's really quiet for a second, then clears his throat. "Oh, um. Hey, what's up?"
"Hey, nothing much? just wondering if you're busy right now" your tone always softens up with him around.
He looks around his apartment, almost as if he needed to remember if there was anything he should've been doing.
"Nope, don't think so. Why?" He leans against his doorframe, and he's cute in the way his pitch perks up, his smile expands just a bit to let a few crinkles form around his eyes.
"Well um... my washing machine broke and I can't afford to buy another one. I have a really important interview tomorrow morning and I need a clean dress shirt to wear. I thought I could get my guy to take a look at it and assess the damage?" you lightly punch your fist across his chest and he blushes a bit. You can tell by the way he starts blinking a bit faster that he's flustered.
"Your- your guy?" he stutters, almost as if he heard nothing else aside from that.
"Yeah, silly. My guy, like, my handyman" you smile at him, and if someone could get even more nervous, you're sure that Eddie just did, because he lets out a breathy laugh.
"Right. Your handyman guy, of course" and he shakes his head, smiling to himself a bit.
"So... can you do it?" you ask, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, no of course, sweetheart. Gimme a couple minutes and I'll be right over to you" he says smiling.
You head back to your apartment, leaving the door open for him to follow you with his toolbox, and Eddie feels like he’s lost every sense of reason when he enters and becomes surrounded by your scent.
The fabric softener you use has taken over every corner of your house, but he’s not complaining. Taking one last sniff for courage, he steps into the kitchen, where you’re sitting at, waiting for him.
“Alright, can I take a look at your washing machine?” he asks, tilting his head.
“Yeah, it’s right this way” you lead him to the laundry room, and Eddie’s suffocating. You’re everywhere.
He kneels in front of the machine and opens its door.
"What's this interview for anyway if it's got you actin' so nervous?" He says from inside the washing machine. He's fidgeting with the rubber at the opening, the hose.
"It's for this job at the school. I applied to teach at the middle school, but I'm not sure if they'll give it to me" you say, panic settling in. He's taking too long, you're done for. No clean shirt, no job.
"Nah, sweetheart, there's no reason why they shouldn't. You're incredibly smart, from all the books I've seen you read, your apartment is all books, you nerd" he starts laughing, and then stops.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to call you a nerd." He takes his head out of the washing machine. "I just- I know you're gonna do great. And if you don't maybe you can become my apprentice, would you mind passing me my flashlight?" he gives you a half smile.
Reaching for his toolbox you pass it to him.
"See? You're already perfect for the job, you're hired" he says, making you laugh. He smiles proudly to himself, and he's happy that you can't see him from inside the washing machine, because he's sure he's bursting with joy at the sound of your laughter.
"Thanks, Ed. I'll consider it." you say, and immediately after you hear a oh shit! coming from inside the machine. Concern washes over your face.
"Ed? What's wrong?" you say, as you carefully step closer towards him.
“I know what the problem is." He takes his head out again The rubber thingy that helps you close the thingy is broken” he says, like you understood what he meant.
“For a handyman you sure have your way with words” you laugh, and he doesn’t even care that he’s made a fool of himself by forgetting what the rubber gasket was called. Because he’s made you laugh.
"So how do I get this rubber thingy fixed, mr handyman?" you ask, voice still amused at how flustered he is.
"Well, I'd need to go down the hardware store and get a replacement, but it's 8PM, so I can't do anything about it now, sweetheart. Sorry" he says, and it breaks his heart to have to say no to you.
"Oh, okay." your voice sounds sad, it hurts him. "Thanks anyway, Eddie. I'll stop by the hardware store tomorrow morning before my interview if you wanna stop by in the afternoon and finish this?"
He thinks about it, about the interview. About how much you said you want the job.
"Wait, I have an idea. What if you wash your clothes in my washing machine for tonight? So you can have your shirt ready for your interview, then tomorrow I can go and get the gaskets to fix it. It's called a gasket, not rubber thingy" he says, playing with his hair.
"Ed it's fine, I can go get it" you say, trying not to blush at how gentle and kind he is "I'll take you up on your offer of using your machine, though. Thanks, Ed. You're too nice" you say, reaching for the basket of wet clothes on top of the dishwasher.
"Anytime, sweetheart. Y'know I take good care of my clientele" he says, smug smile on his lips. You giggle and fake a gasp.
"Are you cheating on me? Are you being someone else's guy?!" he laughs and goes along with it.
"Well, Mrs. Davis did ask me to fix her bathtub, after learning from someone that I fixed their sink" he said, a fake accusatory stare at you.
"You should get paid for this, Ed. You've already fixed my sink, my door hinges, helped me change my lock and now my washing machine. Soon the whole complex is gonna ask you to do their maintenance" you laugh.
"I do it out of the kindness of my heart" he says, taking a dramatic bow , then rises and leans against the washing machine. "Really, though, I don't mind doing it. I enjoy being helpful. I don't want your money, sweetheart"
"No, Eddie, I insist. I need to pay you, especially after you said you're getting the rubber thingy for me, what was it called again? A gusset?"
"Gasket" he says smiling, pointing a cheeky finger at you. Then the air becomes a bit tense, he stiffens up. You see him takes a deep breath, he's suddenly nervous which puts you on edge. Did you say something wrong? Then he speaks up again. "Tell you what, as a payment for my services, I pick you up Friday night at 7 and we have dinner. What do you say?"
Shit. You would not have pegged him for the type to be that smooth, but he had you. He liked you and he was sweet to you and he wanted to take you out to dinner. It helped that he was cute. There was no hesitation when you nodded your head yes.
"I say that's a great idea, Ed. I'll let you know how the interview goes. Should we go to your apartment?" you say. You notice the quizzical, borderline alarmed, look on his face.
"So I can wash my stuff, I mean" an awkward laugh escapes you as he motions for you to lead the way.
His apartment is the same layout as yours, but rather than books, his walls are filled with painted figurines, guitars, notebooks and DnD game sets. A true nerdy den.
"Um, the washing machine is down the hall. We have the same one, let me know if you need anything, okay?" he says, heading over to the couch, setting his toolbox down and picking up his guitar.
His laundry detergent is strong. The thought of this load of washing smelling like him makes your head spin.
After you've started the load, you head out of the laundry room and head over to the couch, where Eddie is. You swear his eyes glint a little when he sees you.
"Hey mr. handyman." you say, plopping down next to him "Keep playing, I'm just gonna watch you." You smile at him.
His face is concentrated, tongue darting out of his lips every once in a while. Cute, you think, a silly quirk that makes your mind travel to places that it should not even dare to go, you haven't even had your first date yet. God, you wanna kiss him.
He plays some aggressive guitar chords, one after the other, music sheets scattered on his knee, balancing precariously as he taps the rhythm with his head, his hair falling out of its confinements with each bob of his head.
"I hear you play sometimes." You interrupt. He raises his head, his hair has all fallen out of the bun and lays on his shoulders.
"What?" he says weakly.
"Sometimes, in the afternoon, because you're so respectful, I hear you play. And I- I just stop whatever I'm doing and listen to you and- and it's so cool. Your playing is so cool" you stop your ramble, because now he's staring at you and he's making you nervous. He's closer, and closer, and closer. And he's kissing you.
His lips are soft, albeit a bit too wet from all the times he's licked his lips to focus. His hand is on your cheek and it's big and warm and his breath is on you and you just melt into him. Soft kisses, quick kisses.
After what feels like hours, your mouth is open and you're reaching for his shirt, but he stops you, a puzzled look on your face. "Let's save this for another time, sweetheart." He says, and you can tell he's struggling to say no to you "I wanna take my time with you. Maybe after our date?" he gives you a sly smile and you think you have melted into the cushions.
"Can we cuddle, then?" you say shyly and he opens his arms for you to fall in, you take a deep breath. He's warm and smells nice.
"For a handyman you kiss really well" you say, laughing a bit. He jerks his head and quirks an eyebrow.
"How many handymen have you kissed?" his tone is dramatic and you know he's joking.
"None that I am aware of, but y'know, it could be a side job" You giggle.
"I thought I was your guy!" He says with a whine, and he makes you laugh like no man has ever made you laugh before.
“Maybe you can be my guy for real then” you say, smiling, finally holding eye contact with him.
“Yeah, I can be your guy, sweetheart.”

I Can See You | jjh
Genre: workplace romance ; oneshot Synopsis: After a wild, unforgettable hookup with Jung Jaehyun, you were convinced you'd never see him again. Apparently, you were wrong because why is he strutting into your office as your newest coworker? Pairing: Jung Jaehyun x Reader Warnings: explicit sexual content (18+) Notes: 16k words, song prompt was I Can See You by Taylor Swift. Had a bad writer's block and wrote this on a whim in the middle of the night while I was high on Speak Now TV and fueled with cold coffee.
"So, are you going to Tiff's birthday party? We'll go to that new bar downtown. The one that recently had a big opening."
You shook your head without glancing at your coworker, Jenna. Your eyes were focused on the task flashing on your computer screen. "I have plans with my sister."
"I see. That's too bad. You haven't gone out with us in a long time. I thought I'd be able to convince you this time."
You gave her a quick glance and an apologetic smile. "Sorry. I've been busy."
Jenna narrowed her eyes at you. "Are you sure you didn't get a boyfriend? You used to be the life of the party. Now you rarely ever show up. I mean, even though your sister has moved in with you, I don't think that's enough reason to suddenly change your habits."
"No, Jen. No boyfriend. I love partying with you girls, but lately, I just don't feel like it. Do you know what I think about every day when I clock in for work?" you grumbled at her curious expression. "Clocking out."
"Oh my god, you're getting old," Jenna faked a gasp that made you laugh.
"I'll make it up to you though."
"It's fine if you don't. But do let me know when you're feeling up to it again." Jenna flashed a wide grin. "We'll tear this city apart when you do."
Your chat was cut short when you spotted your department's head walking into the office. Jean rushed to her desk and there was a quick shuffle of feet before everyone settled in their own spaces. You eyed your department head and saw that he was coming in with someone else. It must be the new analyst who's officially replacing the last one who resigned recently. That's great because Tiffany's been going through double her usual workload as the only data analyst on your team.
"Good morning, Team!" your department head greeted. "Today's a good day."
Indeed it is, you think so too. It's probably even the best day in the office, given the immaculate sight before you.
"My, my. Look at that..." Jenna discreetly tapped on your shoulder. "A tall, handsome gentleman has graced this tiny workspace with his presence."
You just shook your head dismissively despite also thinking the same thing. When your eyes flitted back to the two men standing by the doorway, you found the new guy's eyes fixated on you. It was like you had been hit by a freight train, the nerves making your heart beat wildly and your eyes widen ever so slightly when you recognized him. Jung Jaehyun.
"This is Jaehyun. Starting today, he will be joining our team as our new data analyst. I trust all of you to help him settle down and get to know our company. I also expect all of you to get along well."
"Yes, sir!"
"Welcome Jaehyun!"
"Welcome to the team!"
Your coworkers immediately gathered around him, greeting, introducing themselves, and welcoming him into the team. Jenna slides towards you in her chair.
"Is it just me or have I seen him before?"
"I'm sure it's just you," you lied, chuckling nervously as you cleared your throat.
Jaehyun was courteous, greeting every single one of you and shaking hands with everyone. You notice him lingering a little longer by your desk but pay it no mind and treat him like it's your first time meeting him. He examined your face as if he was trying to see if you really didn't recognize him at all. That look made you a little impatient, especially after flashes of memories displayed in your head; ones where he was giving you the same intense gaze while you were straddling him.
"It's nice to meet you, y/n." He smiled before leaving your desk and even after he was gone, the way he said your name replayed in your head like a broken record.
"You think he's hot, don't you?" Jenna teased. You had been trying to focus on your job but Jaehyun's desk had to be across the room, right within your line of sight. He was going through some papers with Tiffany, seemingly getting his first taste of his new job post.
He was just as dashing as you remembered, in his complete set of suit and neatly styled hair. Although when you first met, he didn't have his coat or his glasses on. He probably doesn't even need those unless he's reading or something. You know his eyesight works well, judging by how clearly he can navigate even in the dim lights of the hotel room you locked yourselves in a few months back. The memory made you squeeze your legs together, feeling a nervous but euphoric rush run down your heart to your stomach. You cleared your throat, tugging on Jenna's arm to excuse yourself.
In the restroom, you checked yourself out in the mirror and washed your hands for no reason. That night with Jaehyun was like a fever dream, almost surreal. What's even more surreal was meeting him again, even in an actual dream. After that night, you regretted escaping in the morning while he was still asleep. You regretted not giving him your phone number when he asked for it and also not asking for his. You never saw him again after that, even when you tried going back to the place you first met him. You've come to make peace with the fact that you will never be able to see him again, or even meet anyone like him. Yet now he comes strutting into your office and introduces himself as your new coworker? You can't tell if you're being rewarded or screwed over.
"So, Jaehyun..." Tiffany was beaming when she approached you and Jenna by the pantry. "I invited him to come with us tonight and he's totally down."
"You invited him?" Jenna exclaimed in disbelief and Tiffany nodded. "He's a guy."
Tiffany shrugged nonchalantly. "And? It's my birthday. Besides, Carl and the department chief are coming too so technically, this isn't a girls' night out."
That seemed to have convinced Jenna. "That makes sense."
Tiffany turned to you and started batting her eyelashes. "So, is my favorite colleague coming tonight?"
You chuckled at the flattery. "I would love to—"
"Ah," Tiffany cut you off, covering her ears. "I don't wanna hear it."
"Tiff..." you lilted but she just pouted and shook her head.
"I know exactly what comes after 'I would love to', y/n," she ranted, looking sulky. "It's my birthday."
"I know that but it's also my sister's birthday, so..."
"Oh." Tiffany softened at you after hearing your reason. "I didn't know we had the same birthday."
You just shrugged. Tiffany went on to suggest celebrating together but you declined because you've already made a reservation in a nice restaurant and you'll be with your parents. She tried charming you to agree to meet them at the bar after you're done with the family dinner and you could only say you'll try but won't make any promises. Honestly, knowing Jaehyun would be there too piqued your interest. Now you're curious to know what would happen at the bar, but you held it all in. You're simply just tired and would rather go home after a nice dinner than spend energy on socializing until late. Not even the hot specimen will be enough to convince you otherwise.
You had a hearty family dinner and Tiffany had her party. Judging by the stories on their social media, you can tell your coworkers had plenty of fun. Strangely, as you swiped through their posts, you didn't feel any ounce of envy at all. In the past, you would've been the organizer of this party. You would be coming home wasted, or not come home at all. But instead, you're wrapped in your blankets, scrolling through your phone on a Friday. You do feel bad about turning Tiffany down, but you won't swap this peaceful weekend for any rowdy, noisy, and dizzying nightclub.
Jenna was right. You're getting old. But you also know sooner or later, they'll succumb to the same lifestyle as yours right now.
Your finger pressed on one picture in Tiffany's long array of stories, the one where Jaehyun was posing with your colleagues. He stood out the most, with his pearly white skin and tall height. In his hand was a bottle of beer, his cheeks and chest were rosy due to alcohol and the rims of his eyes were pinkish. Your eyes focused on his lips, plump and red under the flash of the camera. Your mind spiraled again, falling into an immediate recollection of the one-night stand with Jaehyun. The weather was cold at the time, but Jaehyun's skin was hot against yours. His eyes were fiery with lust, staring you down and scanning your entire being as if he were trying to memorize you. His arms were strong, and so were his chest. You remember how the high came as quickly as it left, and how it was the best part of the whole thing. It was an intense night out, and an even intense hook-up. You will never forget that, nor will you be able to compare it to anything else you've had before. That night with Jaehyun was so good that it almost felt illegal; like a vice that will get you addicted to it if you're not careful.
You tossed your phone across the bed, taking deep breaths to calm your raging hormones. You would never admit to anyone, even to yourself, that part of the reason you stopped going on night outs was because of Jaehyun. Everything about him has been imprinted in your mind that nothing about your nightlife satisfied you anymore, especially not the guys who tried to humor you.
"Fuck my life," you mumbled to yourself, dreading Monday as much as you're looking forward to it. Jaehyun will be there. That idea made you feel giddy and nervous at the same time and you hate feeling overwhelmed, especially about a guy.
Monday rolled in like clockwork and you imagined yourself bumping into Jaehyun at the building entrance. Obviously, you didn't, but you did catch him inside the elevator. He gave you a small smile as you stepped into the elevator with a few other employees. You stood right next to him, your shoulders brushing slightly because the lift was packed.
"Good morning," he greeted casually and you tried not to collapse on your knees.
"Good morning, Mr. Jung."
Jaehyun's smile widened. "You act like we don't know each other."
"Pardon me, Mr. Jung," you chimed, smiling sweetly at him. "But I would rather keep things professional in the workplace. So, wherever it is that you remember knowing me from, I'd appreciate it if you don't bring it up at work."
Jaehyun pursed his lips, his brows forming a knot. "I was talking about the way you addressed me just now. You're the only one who calls me that here. Everyone else calls me by name."
You opened your mouth to retort but then closed it again and avoided his gaze. Jaehyun's grin didn't leave his lips until you were out of the elevator. That annoyed you a little, knowing he was amused about you feeling awkward. You sat in front of your computer all day, looking pissed. Jenna chatted with you several times but you just gave her the bare minimum of your attention. By 3pm, your coworkers were chatting randomly among themselves and while most of them found Jaehyun to be the most interesting one in your bunch, you drowned in your own work instead of participating. You feel awkward enough seeing him around, and even more so because you know you want him. You want all of him. But given that your office has a rule against dating coworkers, you can only dream. You wonder if you can take more of this agonizing situation, and you wonder how much his presence would affect your daily office life.
You must be delusional or have high self-esteem because, for the next few days, you were convinced that Jaehyun was as antsy as you were. Several times you caught him staring at you intently, with his forehead creasing and his lips pursed, not even avoiding your gaze like he meant for you to notice him staring. Even around your coworkers, you can see him watching you with those eyes. You're not oblivious to the meaning behind those gazes and you're not ignoring them either. You acknowledged them, every single one. You gave him the same exact look with the same exact intention. Each time you brushed past each other, regardless of how close or far apart you are, he always made sure to graze your arm, or your elbow, or your shoulder; especially your shoulder when you're wearing something that exposes them. Each time your name is mentioned in your small office, his eyes follow the direction of your desk. And your desks just have to be positioned right across each other's. Far apart, but face to face.
You know he wasn't being discreet and you hoped he would because sooner or later, people will start to notice how he paid attention to you. You can tell by the way your colleagues would randomly tug him because he was in a daze staring at you, and the way someone would always clear their throat to prompt him.
One night, during overtime, when you had to cram some paperwork for the monthly audit, you were alone in the pantry making coffee for yourself when Jaehyun walked in. You held your breath for a moment, giving him a nervous smile before reverting your attention to the coffee machine.
"Evening," he greeted, his voice deep and throaty, damn attractive.
"Evening," you greeted back, watching him reach for a mug from the cupboard. He stood there with you, waiting for the brewing coffee, but your senses were on high alert because of the proximity. Your shoulders were almost touching and his hand on the counter sat close to yours.
"Seeing any light at the end of this tunnel?" he asked, referring to the loads of work everyone had piled up.
"The only light I'm seeing is daylight. We'll be here until the morning," you huffed, sagging your shoulders as you glanced down your wristwatch. It's 11pm but you eventually stopped caring about the time when you saw his pinky finger linking with yours.
"Well, if you need a hand, just let me know."
Your eyes were fixated on your linked fingers but you still replied. "I'm sure you have plenty on your plate as it is."
"How about you try not to decline someone's good intentions," he chimed, letting go of your finger to properly place his hand over yours. "Especially if it's mine?"
"I don't think you mean good intentions, Jaehyun," you purred, challenging his bluff. His lips lifted into a smile, revealing a set of dimples that would have looked cute if only he wasn't staring at you like he was ready to devour you at any moment.
"As long as we're on the same page, I don't care how you label my intentions."
You stared at each other for a while, conversing with your eyes and seemingly coming to an agreement. Your self-restraint had always been thin, but right now it's at its thinnest and your rationality is working hard to remind you that you're in the office and anyone can walk in on you anytime.
The coffee machine beeps, signaling that the coffee is ready. You drew your hand from under his hold and were about to grab the kettle when Jaehyun yanked your hand back and pulled you into his arms, locking you there.
"Jaehyun!" you scolded in a hushed voice. He lets you go after a soft whisper in your ear that had his lips brushing on the sensitive skin. The pantry door opens and you jolted a little in surprise. Jenna lets out a big huff.
"If I die today, know that I loved working with all of you," she said dramatically.
Jaehyun chuckled, grabbing the kettle and pouring himself a coffee. "Hang in there," he comforted Jenna as he poured some on your mug too.
He left after that while you stood rooted on your spot, your mind in shambles because of Jaehyun. Jenna had to shake your shoulder to prompt you.
"Are you okay?"
You flashed a fake smile. "Yeah. Of course."
Jenna gave you a pitiful gaze. "This is killing you too right?"
"Right," you sighed, taking your mug from the countertop. "Let's have some more of this and hope we get through the night."
"Amen," Jenna quaked.
You go back to your desk, but your mind cannot focus on work now. Your heart started beating wildly in your chest the moment you were alone with Jaehyun, and it hasn't stopped since. You tried not to pay him any attention, but he was right across the room so it was impossible. When your eyes met his, he lifted his ID card to show it to you, and that made you look away. You grabbed your headphones and played music to drown your thoughts and hopefully focus on your task. But Jaehyun's melodic voice was still in your head.
'Did you know everyone at the motel knew my name when I stepped out the morning after?'
Fuck him. And fuck motels with crappy soundproofing.
Jaehyun was still smug about you getting flustered by what he said. Now you're thinking he did that to see how much of an effect he has on you. Why bother? He already knows he had you in a chokehold.
"Hey, still swamped?" Tiffany asked sleepily, sinking her chin on your shoulder. You leaned your head on hers and sighed.
"Halfway there, but I'm just finishing up on this one file. I'll work on the rest tomorrow." You were all required to finish work tonight, but after seeing how late it had gotten, your chief eventually told everyone to go home, saying he'd ask the higher-ups for an extension.
"Yeah, it's impossible to finish everything tonight," she grumbled. "Don't stay too long though. No job is worth dying for."
"I know," you sighed, giving her a comforting smile. "See you tomorrow, Tiff."
"See you."
Half of your office is now vacant and the only ones left are you, Carl, and Jaehyun who seemed to be working at a steady pace while still giving you a hard tease. You ignored him altogether, eager to just finish this one paper. But then you caught him yawning from your peripheral view, making you peer over your computer screen to watch. He took off his tie completely and tucked it away before unbuttoning the first two buttons of his shirt. Then he flexed his arms and rubbed his nape, seemingly trying to shake off the drowsiness. The way he closed his eyes and threw his head back while massaging his neck is getting you riled up. You told yourself to look away, but your eyes were fixated on the masculine display before you. It was also at that moment that Carl stood up from his chair with a hand over his belly. His hurried steps caught you and Jaehyun's attention and you watched as he exited the room and slammed the door close behind him.
Jaehyun's eyes fell on you, his expression smug as ever. With a huff, you rose to your feet, tossing your headphones on the desk before you walked straight toward Jaehyun. He seemed taken aback and confused, frozen on his seat when you pushed his swiveling chair and sent it bumping against the wall. A smirk formed on his lips the moment you grabbed his collar.
"Whoa, whoa," he chuckled, even his voice is driving you insane. "What's with the aggression?"
You silenced his cocky attitude with a hurried kiss, straddling his lap while he grabbed your waist and kissed you back. It didn't take long for the making out to elicit an erection from him. When you gave it a grind, Jaehyun pulled back in surprise. The flustered look on his face gave you confidence.
"Why? What happened to the cockiness you've been giving me all day?" you challenged, running your hands through his neatly styled hair. "Don't tell me you're good with just words?"
He grabbed your hands and locked them behind you, hissing as he snapped at you. "Don't tempt me, y/n."
"Like you have been tempting me all day?"
Jaehyun smirked, leaning in to kiss your collarbone. "How long before Carl comes back from taking care of his business?"
"Long enough," you replied, trying to free your wrists from his hold but Jaehyun was infinitely stronger than you were.
"Good. Be quiet," he whispered to your skin, eyeing the CCTV at the far corner of the office. He gently pushed you off his lap before pulling you into the pantry door and shutting the door close.
The rendezvous with Jaehyun might have been a bad idea. It didn't only go against what you personally believed in, it also went against your company's code of conduct. You had expected the next day after to be the most awkward, but contrary to what you initially thought, things weren't that bad at all. You kept everything professional and not in a forced way. Jaehyun was cordial, and so were you. It helps that you were all busy chasing the deadline for the audit too.
"Coffee?" Tiffany asked when she passed by your desk on her way to the pantry. You smiled at her, catching Jaehyun's gaze from his desk.
"No, thanks. I'm good."
Yes, you kept everything professional between the two of you, but you haven't forgotten the events of last night just yet. Eventually, you will have to stop avoiding going to the pantry, but you will surely never look at it the same way again.
What could be worse than dating a coworker? Hooking up with them. The no-strings-attached guarantee of hook-ups may sound like a good thing, but it's not when your hookup is your colleague. AND if you hooked up at the office. The chances of your little rendezvous happening again were high. You knew that and you were right.
Coffee? -jjh
You stared at the note for another second then glanced at Jaehyun's direction. He was already eyeing you, his brows lifting as if seeking a response to his query. You mouthed a 'no' before crumpling the sticky note and tossing it in the trash bin under your desk. Jaehyun just grinned, shrugging as he rose to his feet and headed for the pantry. Your eyes followed him, sighing when he disappeared into the door.
"What's wrong?" Jenna whispered in your ear, startling you because you never noticed how closely she was sitting next to you. She chuckled at your surprised reaction. "Girl, you should really slow down on those espressos."
"Indeed, I should," you agreed, laughing awkwardly before resuming your work.
Hooking up with Jaehyun was a bad idea and you had decided it would never happen again. That was a lie, of course, and it was proven to be when you found yourself making out with him in the copy room; your back leaning on the copier for support while he ravaged your lips and your neck. Several times, you couldn't suppress the moans that escaped your lips and several times, Jaehyun had to laughingly remind you to be quiet. On another occasion, he pulls you into the fire exit to make out, where he also had you weak on the knees all day just by going down on you for a good five minutes. The pantry would also be a venue for more than just that one time Carl had a bad stomach. Notes passing became a habit too.
Soon, you and Jaehyun had sullied the secret spaces on your office floor. You've memorized the areas where people never usually went to, the blind spots behind cameras, and the dark corners around. Overtimes became more frequent for you, with most of it being spent with Jaehyun between your legs or yourself bent over the pantry table or the copy machine. Surely, you gotta stop doing this at one point. But at which point exactly? Neither of you ever discussed that. You're not in a kind of relationship where you have to talk about this stuff anyway. As a matter of fact, you never even talk about the hookups. You just find the opportunity at random and then you both grab it each time it appears. That's how it has been for the past few months, and it doesn't look like things might change anytime soon. Or so you thought.
"You look gorgeous!" Tiffany praised, the moment you met her in front of the elevator. "Is that a new dress? Did you go shopping by yourself?"
"Thanks, but this isn't new or anything. I've had this for a while now. Barely wore it though," you replied, looking down at the dress you took your time to pick out this morning.
"Well, you need to wear it more often. You look great in it," Tiffany affirmed so you thanked her again.
At the office, Jenna uttered praises about your outfit too, throwing in a nice comment about how your hair was styled. You haven't really noticed it but these days, you've been paying more attention to your appearance. Not that you never cared before, but lately, you've taken an extra hour from your daily routine and dedicated it to looking great every day at work. Now that you're being praised for it, you had to admit to yourself that the reason for this might have been Jaehyun.
"Are you seeing someone?" Jenna asked while you were having lunch at the pantry. Your eyes briefly met Jaehyun's, who looked at you like he too wanted to know your answer.
"No. That's so random. Why'd you ask?" you chuckled, shaking your head and poking your food with the fork.
"I just had a feeling that you might be seeing someone. You look great these days," Jenna chimed.
"Agreed. You're literally glowing, y/n."
You shrugged, feeling shy because of the attention being focused on you. "I'm just feeling great these days. You know, skincare, working out, good sleep and stuff."
"And stuff?" Tiffany repeated, grinning playfully. "Is it the good stuff?"
Jenna snickered. "Must have been some satisfying stuff."
You chided them sternly, shaking your head at their teasing as you reluctantly glanced at Jaehyun. His head was bowed down as he was looking at his food, eating quietly but the grin on his lips made you kick his feet under the table. Carl jolted next to Jaehyun, whimpering as he reached down his leg.
"Ow, y/n. What was that?"
"Oh, god, I'm sorry," you blurted and gave him an apologetic smile. "Something brushed my feet. I thought it was a rat or something."
The rest of the day went with Jaehyun still giving you a teasing grin. You just rolled your eyes at him each time and refused to deal with it. In the afternoon when you were about to clock out, he pulled you into the fire escape, giving you a quick kiss.
"Stop. I have no time for this," you chided, hitting his chest. Jaehyun just smirked and you saw that as him challenging you. "I'm serious. I have plans and I'm gonna be late."
Jaehyun tutted and then sighed. "That's too bad. I was gonna ask if you'd like to have dinner with me."
"Dinner with you?" you repeated. You heard him clearly, you just weren't expecting that to come out of his mouth. "Just the two of us?"
Jaehyun looked around. "Let's see. There's you, me, and no one else around. Yeah, that means it's gonna be just the two of us."
You scoffed. "Stop playing around. I'm busy."
You were about to leave when he grabbed your wrist and pulled you back to his chest. He then pressed soft kisses on your neck. "How about tomorrow?"
"I don't know. I'll check my calendar," you quipped, rolling your eyes. "I'm a busy woman."
"Come on, I'll pick you up," Jaehyun chuckled, giving you a chaste kiss on the lips before tucking a few strands of hair behind your ear. Somehow, his actions and the way he's looking at you felt affectionate, making your heart race. "Assuming you don't want to leave the office together. But if you're okay with that, we can just go right after clocking out."
"Why would you want to have dinner together?"
Jaehyun looked at you like you just asked him the stupidest question he's ever heard. "Why not? Is it not allowed?"
"No," you replied but then shook your head. "I mean, it's not that it isn't allowed. It's just... weird."
"Weird? The good stuff is fine, but dinner is weird?"
"Good stuff?" you hollered, hitting his chest as you felt your cheeks flare with embarrassment. "What good stuff are you talking about?"
"That's what you girls called it," Jaehyun laughed, trapping your hands so you'd stop hitting him. "Alright, I'm sorry. That was ungentlemanly of me."
"You're far from being a gentleman, Jung Jaehyun."
"Okay, I know why you think that way. So, maybe you'd be curious to see me be the gentleman that I am and have dinner with me. Tomorrow, after work."
You rolled your eyes and sighed in defeat. "Fine. I'll think about it."
"Great," he lilted, fishing his phone from his pocket and handing it to you. "This is the part where I ask for your number. Though, I know I should have done that a long time ago."
You scoffed as you took his phone and dialed your own number. After that, he kissed you again and you ended up making out for a few more minutes before you hurriedly stepped out of the door back into the building. You didn't expect to see Jenna when you pushed through the door. Her bright smile was a contrast to your surprised expression.
"Oh, hi! Are you leaving now? Should we go together?"
You were just about to respond when Jaehyun stepped out of the door behind you. Jenna stood there confusedly, eyes moving from him to you and him and back to you again. You grabbed her arm and led her away with a burst of awkward laughter.
"Yes. We should leave together," you blurted, dragging her away. "I was actually on my way to see my mom. Would you like to come with me?"
Jenna's face lit up. "I'd love to! I haven't seen her in ages!"
"Good. She'll be glad to see you too."
Dinner with Jaehyun? This year is really full of surprises for you. Jaehyun went from being a man you thought you'd never see again to picking you up at your apartment on time for a dinner date. This was impossible a few months ago, but now there he is, standing by his car in a nice suit and neatly styled hair as he waits for you to come down.
"There you are," he chimed, greeting you with a sweet smile and a peck on your cheek. You kissed him back, thanking him after he opened the car door for you.
"So, where are you taking me?" you asked as he occupied the driver's seat.
Jaehyun chuckled, probably because of the way you phrased your question. "Where am I taking you? You make this whole thing sound so insincere."
You just shrugged, not denying his observation. "Sorry, just not used to this at all."
"I don't blame you," he replied, shaking his head. "The way we got into this relationship is unconventional."
Relationship? You hummed. Well, whatever this is that you have with him, it is considered a relationship, just not the roses and dinner dates kind. Still, here you are, pulling up in front of a nice restaurant. Jaehyun was attentive to you, opening doors and pulling chairs out. You know better than to assume he was an actual gentleman. His telling you he'll show you how much of a gentleman he was has kinda ruined it for you. Whatever this dinner was for, you decided not to overthink it anymore and just enjoy the night.
"To be fair, I was hoping not to see you again after that," you told him over steak and wine. You were talking about random things when the first time you met him was casually brought up. "I don't really like being nice and friendly with one-night stands the morning after."
"Is that so?" he questioned, brows furrowed but he had an amused smile on his lips. "I thought we had something going on."
You scoffed. "Something going on? Jaehyun, come on. You're not expecting to form some kind of connection with a girl you met at a nightclub. Well, except maybe the physical kind."
Your statement had Jaehyun throwing his head back as he laughed. "God, y/n, you have no idea how adorable you are."
Your cheeks flared at the compliment, but you chose to act aloof and just roll your eyes. "Now, you're just simping."
"Wait, what happened to the witty flirt who swept me entirely off my feet that one night at the club?" he asked so you shrugged.
"That time and right now are different. I was trying to flirt with someone then, now I'm just enjoying dinner with a coworker."
"A coworker?" Jaehyun's smile turned mischievous, dropping his fork gently on his plate so he could use his hand to wipe the corner of your mouth with a napkin. "Just a coworker?"
A coworker you have occasional quickies with. "Don't flatter yourself, Jaehyun."
"How can I not? Having a date as gorgeous as you are is very flattering indeed."
This time, it was your turn to let out an amused laugh. "It's amazing how well you use words to charm people. Is that a skill?"
"It might be but I'm not too confident in that aspect. I'd say I'm more well-versed in other uses for the mouth."
You choked on the wine and did so violently that you had a hard time breathing. Jaehyun was quick to offer you a glass of water, but mischief never left his lips. You glared at him because of that. "Whatever happened to being a gentleman?"
Jaehyun just wiggled his eyebrows, laughing after you rolled your eyes at him. Fortunately, he dropped the teasing and you were able to eat in peace. A huge part of you expected the night to extend until after dinner. You imagined all sorts of scenarios, all of them leading up to you and Jaehyun alone in an actual bedroom this time. It could be his place, or yours, maybe a hotel room. And as you were making out with him in the car right in front of your apartment, you pictured both of you naked on your bed and your mind went as far as waking up in the morning with him beside you.
So when he bade you a reluctant goodbye, and wished you a good night's sleep, you couldn't even hide the disappointment on your face.
"Everything alright?" he asked, noticing your silence as you sat there dumbfounded.
"Yeah," you muttered, still in a daze. Embarrassment soon crept up on you, making you look away and reach for the car door. "Good night, Jaehyun."
"You're not gonna invite me in?"
The way your head immediately turned to him and your face lit up was embarrassing, but your body was aching to be one with his so you ignored the shame. "Would you like me to?"
"I was waiting for it," he chimed, gently pulling you by the neck to kiss you again. When he broke away, he looked apologetic. "But we have work tomorrow and it's getting late."
"You're right," you chuckled nervously. "Duh."
Jaehyun smiled contently, giving you one last peck on the lips before letting you go. "See you tomorrow?"
You flattened your lips together, eyeing him curiously as you asked, "You know we can't date in the office, right?"
"Of course. It's a workplace. Not a dating spot," he chuckled and you sighed exasperatedly.
"No, I meant we can't date coworkers. It's a rule in the company."
Jaehyun looked like he was hearing about this for the first time. "That's a thing?"
"Oh, you didn't know?" you chuckled. "That's fine. It's not like we're dating or anything, right?"
"We're not?"
You groaned in frustration. "Okay, you know what? We're not having this conversation. I'm gonna go."
Jaehyun didn't stop you from exiting the car, but he bade you goodnight before you stepped into your apartment building. The dinner was pleasant but not that you were alone, you realized what a disaster it had been. Thoughts flooded your mind, all of them about Jaehyun; his dinner invitation, his intentions, the subtle implications in his statements, and what's going on in his mind. You thought maybe he was just teasing with his subtle hints. Surely he can't be serious about it, right? He's a grown man who knows how to properly communicate. If he wants more than what you already have right now, he can tell you directly without the mixed signals.
Then again, what if you're both just adults with communication issues? Admittedly, you too have no idea what you want out of this setup. Sure, you enjoy the thrill of it but one way or another, one of you has to be responsible enough to put an end to this.
That being said, you found yourself finding the right opportunity to bring it up with Jaehyun. Unfortunately, work kept both of you busy for the following days after your first date. So much that he can't even find the slightest opportunity for a quick rendezvous around the office. Other than work-related subjects, quick greetings, and fleeting glances, you have yet to speak a proper conversation with Jaehyun.
"Hi," Jaehyun greeted as he rounded the long conference room table. "You're here early."
You panicked on your feet, standing up in surprise at his sudden appearance. Doing so, your hand that was sitting on your lap hit the edge of the table so hard that you thought a bone was broken. Groaning in pain, you clenched your fist in hopes that it might alleviate the pain. Jaehyun rushed over to you, gently taking your hand in his to examine it.
"Why are you so clumsy?" he chided softly, blowing on the reddened skin. "Does it hurt?"
"No," you replied. It did hurt a while ago, but now that you were moving it, the pain has gone and you were relieved to know you didn't actually break a bone. More importantly, you are currently exhilarated because this is the closest you've gotten to Jaehyun in the past few days. The whiff of his perfume was faint, but it was enough to make you feel euphoric.
Jaehyun eyed you curiously, his forehead creasing with concern. "Are you sure? Does it hurt if I do this?" With gentle hands, he pressed on the reddened spot.
"Jaehyun, should we stop this?" you asked directly, and the astonishment on his face was evident.
"Stop this? This?" he asked back, motioning for your hand. You sighed, flattening your lips tightly together. Jaehyun's face darkened. "Oh, you don't mean that, do you?"
You pulled your hand back, shoulders sagging in frustration. "See, this is the problem with us. We talk in codes instead of communicating like grown adults."
He opened his mouth to speak, but the door opened before he could say something. Your co-workers walked in, chattering like busy bees. While that was happening, Jaehyun was moving back to his seat. The meeting began after quick greetings and work dragged you away from a proper conversation once again.
"GUESS WHAT?!" Tiffany exclaimed when she found you and Tiffany in the pantry. Her eyes gleamed with excitement and she was jittering like she'd explode if you didn't respond to her immediately.
Jenna was the one who asked, "What?"
"There's a secret couple in our company!" Tiffany said briskly, in a single breath. Your ears rang warning bells. "And it's from our floor."
"From which department?" Jenna asked.
"No one knows yet, but apparently, Olive from Marketing saw two people making out in the fire escape."
At this point, you were sweating bullets despite the cool office. You wanted to remove yourself from the conversation but there was no excuse to leave. And to be honest, part of you wanted to know what people were saying about this.
"Oh my god, who?" Jenna was completely invested, it seems.
"They could either be from the same department or separate. But what if they're from ours?" Tiffany squealed.
Jenna appeared to think. "That's a possibility but who could it be? It's not like we know two people who are weirdly close to each other. Ones who act all sneaky and jumpy from time to time. And also keeps sneaking glances at someone from across the room."
You were stirring your coffee slowly, quietly listening without looking at them. But then you noticed they'd stopped talking so you glanced at them only to realize that they had been staring at you.
"Why? What's up?" you asked dumbly, still a little jittery.
"Well, would you look at that? It seems we do know someone," Jenna grinned knowingly and you could feel the color draining from your face. You and Jenna eyed each other, her looking like a predator who just found her prey, and you feeling smaller and smaller. You knew that she now knows. Feeling caught, you gulped the entirety of your coffee and belched.
"Sorry. I'm gonna go," you told them.
Jenna snickered. "Oh, okay. I'm gonna follow you then."
"Wait! Hey! Who is it?" Tiffany called out, following the two of you out of the pantry. "Girls! What do you know?"
Fuck the universe, you told yourself. The moment you left the pantry, your eyes caught Jaehyun who just entered the office. He did a double-take upon seeing you, stopping in his tracks and walking toward you. Jenna nudged your elbow a little too obviously, so you nudged her back.
"Hi," he began, smiling at the girls and then back at you. "Carl passed me on to you. He said you were in charge of this before so I should come to you for help."
You peered at the file he was handing to you and then turned to Tiffany. "Yeah, I did. But Tiffany worked on this after the previous analyst resigned. I just helped a little."
"Oh? Which file is it?" Tiffany questioned, also looking at the papers. "Yes, I can help, but y/n did the work on this entire project. It was already perfect so I didn't change anything on it and just submitted it as it is."
"You didn't?" you asked Tiffany who shook her head in response.
"Great. Will you help me update it then?"
"Oh, she'll help you just fine," Jenna giggled, nudging you forward. "She's really good at her job. Just don't go sneaking around."
"Jenna!" you chided but your friend just laughed, grabbed Tiffany by the arm, and walked away with a wave.
You groaned in frustration, snatching the file from Jaehyun's hand and mumbling to yourself. Jaehyun inched closer.
"Everything alright?"
"Jenna knows we hooked up."
"Jenna?" Jaehyun repeated, taken aback by your confession. He looked at Jenna who was still walking away with Tiffany. "She did seem like the type to catch on quickly."
"She's sharp when she needs to be," you replied, also glancing at your girl friends. "But she's not the most observant in our office. If she noticed something was going on with us, others will soon realize it too."
"Are you free tonight?"
You glared at him. "Did you even listen to a word I said?"
Jaehyun shrugged, tucking his hands in his pockets. "We can talk about it over dinner if you're down. It's on me."
You rolled your eyes in disbelief, then turned on your heel to leave. He calls out your name so you waved your hand in the air. "Fine. Whatever. Just go away for now."
Jaehyun was grinning fondly, but he heeded your request and walked the opposite way.
Dinner was quiet. Jaehyun kept chatting you up, and he had to keep prompting you because you kept drifting away into an absentminded daze. It's not that you didn't want to listen, you just had something in your mind that's making you dissociate with your company.
"Y/n," he prompted again, now looking concerned.
"Sorry. You were saying?"
Jaehyun exhaled calmly. "Nothing important. Would you like me to drive you home and call it a day?"
"What? No, I..." you paused, sighed in defeat, and then massaged your temples impatiently. "I'm sorry."
"It's alright," he replied, smiling sweetly. He reached for your hand on the table and squeezed it. "Just let me know if I can help."
You shrugged. "I'm just really tired right now."
"I know. Work hasn't been the easiest for all of us."
"Right," you chimed, looking down at your food that you barely touched. "Actually... I really think we should stop this."
Once again, Jaehyun's handsome face darkened with concern. "Is there a specific reason why you keep saying that?"
"Nothing!" you blurted. "I mean, yes! Of course, there is! We can't keep doing this as coworkers. People from work are soon gonna notice."
Jaehyun shrugged. "What's wrong with dating a coworker?"
You laughed derisively. "Aside from the fact that it's a spoken rule to not date a coworker, we are also not dating. I thought we both knew that?"
"We're not?"
"You see that?" you told him, stern and annoyed. "That's our problem. Despite being so intelligent and charming, you always played dumb whenever I bring this up."
Jaehyun exhaled sharply, letting go of your hand and straightening his back. "It's a serious question, y/n. I am actually under the impression that we're already dating."
"Having sex occasionally does not mean we're already dating, Mr. Jung Jaehyun."
"Then at what point do we start dating?"
At this point, you were fuming because of frustration. You couldn't tell if he was pretending to be dumb or if he was actually clueless. Although, the look on his face told you he was genuinely curious about the answer to his question.
"Come on, Jae. You've dated before, I'm sure you know this isn't how it goes."
"Indeed I have but..." he paused, looking away with a creased forehead. "I never had to spell it out to them."
Oh, to be Jung Jaehyun, charming and gorgeous enough to pull any girl he wants. He probably never had to chase after someone he liked. They all probably fell head over heels for him immediately. Like you did.
"Do you like me then?" you asked straightforwardly. If you were to be asked the same question, you would say 'yes' in a heartbeat. That's because you do like him, a lot actually. You don't have deep feelings for him yet, but you feel a romantic spark with him that could lead to something.
"I won't sleep with someone I don't like, y/n."
"It's a yes or no question."
"Yes!" he pressed on, laughing at you like you should've already known the answer. "What do you think?"
You sighed, slowly processing the situation before you. "Won't you ask me if I liked you at all?"
"No," he replied curtly, poking his food with the fork.
His answer made you scoff loudly. "What if I tell you I don't like you?"
A grin formed on his lips as he looked up to meet your gaze. "Then I'd call you a liar. You like me, y/n. I know."
"You're awfully confident," you bluffed, crossing your arms over your chest to challenge him. "Where is that coming from?"
Jaehyun smiled cockily, leaning back on his chair with an air of confidence. "It comes from the way you held on to me tightly whenever you're in my arms."
Your jaw dropped open. Embarrassed, you covered your mouth and looked away. Jaehyun didn't stop.
"The way you trusted me enough to keep doing what we've been doing these past few months. Even the way you look at me from across the room. My confidence comes from those."
You took a deep breath and faced him again. "Okay. You can shut up now."
"That's why I thought we were already dating, y/n," he continued. "I thought we liked each other enough to call this dating. I was just beginning to treat you the way a girlfriend should be treated but work is keeping both of us apart."
You were quiet because you didn't have anything to say, so you just let him talk. Like always, he is composed, confident, and well-articulate. Had he explicitly asked to date you, you would've said 'yes'. Then again, your relationship didn't start in a meet-cute kind of way. It didn't blossom beautifully like cherry blossoms in spring. So he had a point. To be honest, you had no idea how it was supposed to go given the situation. But you would still have preferred if you two just talked about it like proper adults.
"Should I just quit?"
"What?" you asked, not because you didn't understand him but because the question was downright ridiculous. "Why would you quit?"
Jaehyun pouted. "Because I want to be a proper boyfriend."
Boyfriend. Did he actually just say that? And is that an ecstatic giddiness you're feeling?
"You're way in over your head, Jae," you ridiculed, successfully hiding your elation behind aloofness. "You're not my boyfriend."
"Alright, then, how do I become one?"
Just ask, you thought. You didn't want to have to spell it out for him. If you did, you would think he was only asking because you told him to. "How do you not know?"
"If I ask you now, would you say 'yes'?"
"You'll never know unless you try."
Jaehyun straightened up in his seat, reaching for your hand again as he gazed into your eyes. You stared back, letting his deep, dark brown eyes lure you into a beautiful abyss--the kind that's impossible to escape once you fall into it.
"Be my girlfriend, y/n."
You blinked. "Oh, that's not exactly asking."
"No, it's not. That was me making it official with you." Jaehyun's self-esteem is impressively baffling. It almost feels like he's got you wrapped up in his finger. In fact, it feels like he knew exactly that things would go his way, no matter what. He knew what he wanted, and he also knew you wanted the same thing, it seems.
Nevertheless, a voice in your head is screaming a protest. He's a coworker. Indeed, he is. The sex may be phenomenal, but he's still a coworker.
You could abandon your beliefs and take a leap. Jaehyun could be worth the risk of breaking office rules. Not to mention you've already broken said rules anyway, even making a sacrilege of your workplace. Though secretly, it was still scandalous. You never knew you'd be the type to engage in something so risky. It didn't even need any convincing, you straight up just did what was done. You gotta admit though, you liked every second of it; the risk, the thrill, not to mention Jaehyun in his entirety.
Your eyes flitted over to him. His sweet smile will make people assume he's a gentleman, which might be true if you didn't know what he was capable of doing in a hidden but still public space. You remembered the first time you had sex in the pantry; it was quick, almost fleeting. But it was unforgettable and you were absolutely satisfied, so you kept doing it. His aggressive thrusts, hand tight over your mouth to keep you from making any noise, the urgency on his face, and the release that comes crashing through. The image that registered in your head made you squeeze your thighs.
Jaehyun tapped twice on the back of your hand. That was when you realized your mind had wandered elsewhere and was dazed. "What's on your mind, babe?"
Babe? "You."
He didn't even flinch, nor was he taken aback. He just tilted his head a little, and asked, "And why is that when I'm right here in front of you?"
You stared at his lips, craving their warmth and the way they felt on your lips, on your neck, and on the skin of your inner thighs. Your breath hitched and a moan almost escaped your lips because of the vivid memory. You looked away from him and started fanning your face, worried your lewd thoughts were showing.
"Do you want to get out of here?" you breathed, meeting his eyes again. Jaehyun shook his head, moving his glass so the red wine would swirl.
"Don't ask, baby. You know I'd do anything for you."
"Should we just go, then?"
Jaehyun licked his lips, savoring the rich wine. "That's still asking. Assert yourself, babe."
You stood up at once, grabbing his hand on the table and dragging him up. Jaehyun almost choked on the wine he was still drinking, but he quickly put it down and tossed the napkin on the table. You weren't paying him any attention, eager to just leave the restaurant as soon as possible. When you reached the sidewalk, you stopped and looked around.
"I must say, that's one way of asserting yourself," Jaehyun quipped but you ignored his comment and pointed to a certain building around the block.
"Let's go that way," you ordered, and wasted no time discussing plans.
Jaehyun was more than happy to oblige. When you reached the hotel, he was the one who checked you in using his name and his card. You'd barely gotten inside your suite before Jaehyun had you up against the wall, his lips crashing into yours urgently while his arms held you strongly.
You kissed hungrily like you'd been starved for days, which was true because you hadn't had any alone time with Jaehyun for a while now. You ran your hand up his muscly arms to his broad shoulders. Jaehyun reached over to your ass and lifted you off your feet while you wrapped your legs around his waist.
"Take me to bed," you breathed, almost in a whisper. "Please?"
"Anything you want, baby," he grinned, biting his lip as he strode over to the king-sized bed. He laid you down gently, caressing your cheek and letting his hand wander from your face to your clothed breasts. He cupped it and gently squeezed it, and his eyes never left yours even for a second. You pushed yourself up to kiss him and as you did, your dress slipped off of your skin. Jaehyun reached for your back, then you found your bra leaving your body the same way your dress did. When his fingers found your nipple and gave it a good squeeze, you let out a moan that made his face twitch. "God, you're so beautiful."
His mouth went to where his fingers had been, sucking, pulling, and teasing at the sensitive bud. Each contact electrified you to the core. His hands are everywhere at once until they find the cloth of your lace underwear. "Can I do--"
"Jaehyun! Less talking, more doing," you interjected, your voice urgent and your tone pleading. "Please."
He chuckled a little. "So polite."
You wriggled out of your panties as he undressed, seemingly taking his time to stall you on purpose. You hated the smug look on his face because you knew he was taunting you. He knew exactly that you were desperate for him, and that you'd beg if he pushed you hard enough.
Jaehyun hovered over you, staring at you intently with lustful eyes and a cocky grin. You tried not to fall for it, but you needed him so you folded.
"Jung Jaehyun, I swear to god if you keep this up, I'm walking out that door," you threatened, You would never do that, but you'd like to see if it would have any effect on him.
Jaehyun inched closer to your face, planting a tender kiss on your lips before moving his head all the way down between your thighs. Without warning, he started lapping on your cunt, squeezing your thighs in the process. You didn't even try to muffle your moans, instead, you screamed them out. Your stomach was doing somersaults and your head was flying on cloud nine. Just as you were about to feel the release coming, Jaehyun stood on his knees and looked down at your confused expression. He flashed a grin that made your belly flutter. There he was, hovering over you with a body that looked like he was some Greek god sculpture, except that his size was nowhere near that of any Greek sculpture.
You stretched up your arms and Jaehyun fell into them. He kissed you again, needily. And when he thrust himself into you, you cried out in sweet surrender; rocking against his hips, kissing his shoulder, his neck, his chin, and then his lips like you'd die if you didn't. The release hit you like a waterbomb, making you dig your nails into Jaehyun's skin. And then he too cried out of release before he collapsed on top of you, panting.
When you awoke, Jaehyun was still beside, you playing with your hair as he watched your eyes fluttering. You blinked several times, trying to make sense of what was happening. The civility of it all, the fog of affection in the air, his sweet smile, and the warm glow of admiration in his eyes.
"That was an excellent dinner," he quipped, making you smile. "How about some dessert?"
You scoffed then hit his chest. But Jaehyun just gave you a good-natured laugh before gently flicking your forehead.
"I meant real dessert," he scolded softly, motioning to the table across the room. There sat a course of desserts and fruits, as well as a champagne bottle in a bucket of ice.
"Oh," you blurted.
"I'll give you the other dessert later," he added so you glared at him again. Jaehyun was quick on his feet, jumping down the bed and running towards the table before you could even try to hit him. You couldn't help laughing at the unexpectedly goofy display. You weren't discouraged though, if anything, you liked him more because he was adorable.
You sat on the bed and noticed you were wearing a nightgown. You recalled falling asleep after the sex and had faint recollections of Jaehyun telling you to raise your hands so he could dress you up. You thought that had been a dream but looking at the silky dress on your body, you now realize it wasn't.
Delectable food waited for you on the table. Despite being apprehensive about it at first, you gobbled the good food. Over conversations, you also emptied the bottle of champagne and that had you pawing at each other for a while before you both ended up back on the bed, moaning under the sheets.
You spent the weekend in that hotel room; chatting, eating, and goofing around. The fact that you're not shoving your tongue down his throat every hour was surprising. But then you realized that you've learned more about each other in two days of being alone together than you did the past six months.
You strutted into the office with a beautiful glow at work on an early Monday morning. Your steps were light and you were humming happily as you sat in your cubicle. Jenna was quick to notice your ecstatic demeanor.
"Did something good happen this weekend?"
A smile crept on your lips. "No. It wasn't good. It was amazing."
Jenna mirrored your grin, pushing her chair closer to yours. "Why? What was it? Did you and Jaehyun go on a date?"
"How did you-" you stopped, sighed, and rolled your eyes. "What do you mean?"
She nudged your shoulder. "Oh, so you did. Is that why he was in a hotel all weekend?"
Your eyes widened in surprise. "How did you know that?"
Jenna covered her lips, looking like she had been caught. "Ah, that slipped out. Excuse me."
Her chair slid back to her desk to escape you. Intrigued about how she knew about the hotel, you followed her to ask but before you could speak, your department head tapped on your desk and asked you to see him in the meeting room.
"We'll talk later," you told Jenna before following your superior.
Jaehyun entered the office just as you were passing by the doorway on your way to the meeting room. He flashed you a sweet smile which made you giddy. You smiled back before disappearing into the meeting room. That was the beginning of your hidden relationship. It was so much different from your sexual rendezvous, this was more exciting. The secret glances, mouthing endearments when no one is looking, brushing hands or shoulders on purpose, and the contentment of being close to each other when you happened to gather together with your other coworkers. Each day, you leave the office separately only to end up in each other's embrace at night. In the morning, you arrive to work separately too, eagerly waiting for the day to be over so you'd be together again. It was fun and exciting, so much so that you felt like a giddy teenager experiencing your first relationship ever.
"I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this," Jaehyun complained, nuzzling his nose on the crook of your neck. He kissed your skin and inhaled your scent. "I miss you."
"You miss me? We see each other every day," you chided softly, turning so you were face to face with him. You snaked your arms around his neck and gave him a chaste kiss on the lips. Other than the pantry, this file room has also become your secret meeting place. "We practically live together since you're always at my place."
Jaehyun exhaled sharply, unconvinced. "That's not enough."
You tapped his chest twice, pulling away from him. "We're not kids, Jaehyun. Let's make do with what we get."
Jaehyun sighed, leaning on the shelves and then crossing his arm over his chest. "We can get more than this, you know?"
"How do you suggest we do that?" you questioned curiously. You're not convinced that his idea will be a good one but you wanted to hear what he had to say.
"I could try talking to the HR about the ban."
You scoffed. "That's your big idea?"
Jaehyun just shrugged. "Not really. It's part of the idea. Would you like to meet my parents?"
Your brows are tied in a knot. "Out of nowhere?"
"Yeah. I told them I am dating this intelligent, charming, and lovely woman. They can't wait to meet you."
Well, that was sudden. Despite your previous physical relationship, you haven't been official for long but he's already talking about meeting his parents. Jaehyun had to leave before you could give him an answer because a coworker walked into the file room. You seemed unnerved about the invitation but you were actually ruminating on it all day, weighing the pros and cons of this meeting.
That night, Jaehyun couldn't go to your place because of a prior engagement. But when he called you right before going to sleep, you told him you'd love to meet his parents. There should be no pressure, it's just a brunch. You told yourself to relax and not overthink it.
And so the weekend came. Jaehyun looked majestic in his Prada cardigan, leaning on his car as he waited for you in the parking lot of your apartment. He greeted you with a sweet smile and an even sweeter kiss, followed by a compliment on your hair and your outfit.
"You smell nice too, damn," he added, smelling your neck and tightening his hug. You just giggled, letting him sniff you all he wanted. It was all cute and adorable until he was pulling you by the waist and pressing his crotch on you. "Should we just stay in?"
You laughed heartily. "Let's go, Jaehyun."
"Call me 'baby' and I'll listen to you."
"Baby," you obliged but your tone was stern instead of endearing.
Jaehyun threw his head back, groaning. "God, that backfired. We really should just stay in."
You pushed him aside, opened the car door, and then locked yourself in his shotgun. Jaehyun was grinning when he rounded the car to sit in the driver's seat. He wasn't done flirting with you though because as soon as he was inside, he pulled you into a kiss--long, sweet, passionate. Oh, how he made you feel so beautiful.
He drove halfway across the city, locking your hands together and singing along to the song on his stereo. When you finally reached your destination, you were in awe of the luxurious home before you. You had an inkling that Jaehyun might have been rich but not this rich. His family house is hidden behind a high fence, probably ten feet high, and inside was a literal mansion surrounded by well-kept landscaping. If you're gonna be honest, the display of wealth made you nervous.
"Intimidating, isn't it?" said the familiar voice of a woman. When you spun to see who it was, your jaw dropped upon seeing Jenna walking towards you and Jaehyun. She grinned at your shocked expression. "It's scarier inside."
"Jen," Jaehyun chided. "Don't scare her."
"Jenna?" you exclaimed. Your friend flashed a silly grin.
"I knew something was going on between you two."
You shook your hands to dismiss her. "Wait, before that. What are you doing here?"
Jaehyun interjected. "She lives here."
You did a double-take, checking if you heard it wrong. Jenna let out a hearty laughter. "Sorry, hon. I would've told you but that would ruin the whole point of being undercover."
"Undercover?" you echoed, touching your temples. "Wait, how about explaining it to me like I'm five?"
Jaehyun and Jenna laughed before the latter guided you inside the house. On your way, she explained that she and Jaehyun are siblings. And that the company's CEO was their older brother. It was straight out of a soap opera and Jaehyun assured you that your reaction was understandable. He also apologized for not telling you about it sooner.
"It's fine, I was just... surprised, I guess?" you blurted. You reach the garden area where a group of people are happily chatting at a dining table. Jenna walked ahead of you, tapped an elder woman on the shoulder, and told her you had arrived.
This elder woman was beautiful and had an air of elegance about her. She stood up from her chair to welcome you.
"Hi, Mom," Jaehyun greeted, giving his mom a peck on the cheek. "This is my girlfriend, y/n."
"Hello, y/n. Wow, Jaehyun wasn't lying when he said you were very lovely." His Mom beamed at you, and contrary to what you expected, she was warm and sweet, ushering you to sit next to her at the dining table while asking you about the journey here.
You met his brother, a face you were so intimidated to see because you knew he was the Big Boss of your workplace. He was cordial and well-mannered, and so was his wife. You didn't ask about his father but based on their conversation, you figured out that he had passed away. You knew better than to ask. Brunch hasn't started yet, but you were already gathered in the garden. At first, you thought it would only be you and them, but a group of people arrived and you found out you were meeting Jaehyun's extended family too.
"We're Koreans. Family means so much to us," Jenna told you. "Not all of us are close though."
Brunch began shortly after their cousins arrived. The food was great and the conversations were engaging enough. Most of the attention was on you because apparently, you were the 'first girl he brought home in three years' according to Jaehyun's brother. Jenna confirmed it too. After the satisfying meal of hearty Korean food, you all dispersed to your own little circles. Jenna dragged you to the patio, chatting with you and apologizing for not telling you about her relationship with Jaehyun. You told her it was fine and that you understood why she had to do it. Jaehyun followed closely behind you two.
"So, are you gonna marry my brother?" Jenna asked and the question made your heart race.
"Stop calling me that. It's giving me chills," Jaehyun interjected so Jenna hissed at him.
"Shut up, I'm not talking to you."
You nervously laughed. "We just started dating."
"Yes, so, is he a marriage prospect or not?" Jenna pressed on.
Jaehyun was the one who said, "We haven't talked about that yet."
"Jaehyun, go away," Jenna complained, pushing her brother but he didn't budge. Jaehyun pulled a face at her to which she responded by lunging her tiny frame at his large physique. They bickered for a moment while you watched in fondness.
Then you said, "He's right, we haven't thought that far ahead."
Jaehyun grabbed his sister's wrists to stop her from hitting him, and then he stared at you, looking befuddled. "We haven't?"
You stared back at him, wondering if you had said wrong. "Have we? I know we haven't. Did I forget?"
"No, you didn't," he replied, letting go of Jenna's arms and straightening up. "I mean, we haven't talked about it yet. But I was already thinking that far ahead."
You blinked, surprised by his confession. Jenna snickered and said, "You can't say that so openly, dear brother. You're putting her on the spot."
"I'm putting her on the spot? You're putting her on the spot! You started this discussion!" Jaehyun whined. You couldn't help laughing at the rare sight. He'd always appeared well-mannered, calm, and collected. Seeing him bicker with his sister made him even more endearing.
"Why not? You guys aren't getting any younger. This is an important question to ask!"
While the siblings bickered, your thoughts screamed loud enough that they deafened you from external noises. Marriage was never an issue to you, you can get married anytime you want as long as you want to. But only now were you realizing that you've gotten old and this was in fact an important question to ask.
Still, now is a little too early for it. Truth be told, you don't know if you want to take this relationship to that level yet. Sure, you're in love but with marriage, love is not the only factor that needs to be considered. Jaehyun is from an affluent family with influence and money, you don't know if you want to be a part of it. Even if you did want to be, you're not sure if his family would want you for him. So far, they had been nothing but nice. Then again, it will be no surprise if these families have criteria that you might be too middle-class to comprehend.
"Baby," Jaehyun prompted, nudging your shoulder. "What were you thinking?"
"You," you replied absentmindedly. Jaehyun grinned coyly.
"Really? We're in the middle of a family gathering, but I think can make up a good excuse to leave."
You rolled your eyes at his lascivious thoughts. "No that's not what I meant, dumbass."
Jaehyun chuckled. "That's a shame. I was ready for it. No, actually, I'm always ready for it."
"For what?"
He pressed his nose on the side of your head, sniffing your hair before whispering, "For my naughty little girlfriend who randomly gets these sudden urges to ride me till I'm spent and dripping."
Your face flared at the lewd image that formed in your mind. Holding your cheeks, you walked away from him in embarrassment. Jaehyun laughingly called out to you. "You'll dry me up in no time, baby."
You glanced back at him, scandalized. "Oh my god, be quiet!"
"What?" he mimed, looking around. "No one heard me."
"I did and you're gross," Jenna grimaced before walking away too.
It's been a week since the family luncheon. Aside from the fact that you now know Jenna and Jaehyun are siblings, nothing much has changed in your relationship. You admit that it was weird with Jenna at first, in a way that whenever you have your usual girl talk, you suddenly remember who she was and just daze. It took some getting used to. Same case with Jaehyun who gets ordered around the office for being a newbie and him doing everything he is told to do like he's not the literal son of the company's founder. You realized just how much humility these two have and how impressive it was that they were raised this way instead of the regular snobbish rich kids.
Your boyfriend's identity had you ruminating about the future of your relationship. What would be the reactions you'd get if people found out you were dating a coworker--especially if it's revealed that he was actually the CEO's brother? You'd surely be called a Cinderella, scoring a jackpot by dating a billionaire's son. People might think it's magical, while most will assume you were in it for the money. Either way, the possibility of your life being put under public scrutiny terrifies you.
"GUESS WHAT?" Tiffany barged into the meeting room, startling you and Jenna. You clutched your heart, beating rapidly in its cage while Jenna gave your coworker a stern look.
"You gotta stop with the dramatic entrances, Tiff," said Jenna.
"Jung Jaehyun just got named CHRO."
Jenna scoffed. "Yeah, and Jung Jenna just became COO. Jaehyun would die and get reborn again before he takes an executive role in this company. Shut the door."
Tiffany shook her head as he approached you, pushing the door close as she went. "I'm serious. Check the company page. They just announced it."
You toggled on your tablet and pulled up the company portal. And there it was, the announcement of the company's latest personnel changes. Jung Jaehyun was indeed the Chief Human Resources Officer.
"Why would he take that job?" you questioned, genuinely curious. Jenna told you before that Jaehyun was supposed to come in as a department head since his education and experience made him qualified for the position, but he still chose to do the undercover thing. Now he's suddenly a CHRO?
"No way, he's not!"
"Apparently, he is. And guess what was the first thing he asked to change in the company policy?"
"What?" you and Jenna asked in a chorus. Tiffany ducked to toggle on the screen and opened another announcement.
"He abolished the dating ban among coworkers. Effective immediately."
Your jaw hung open, while Jenna started laughing like a maniac. Then she said, "Jung Jaehyun, that sly little bastard."
"Does that mean he has a girlfriend here?"
Jenna eyed you. "Yeah, he obviously has a girlfriend here."
"Or he could be sympathizing with the people here who want to date but can't because of the ban," you suggested, trying to challenge Jenna.
"Yeah, like you," Jenna teased. You just rolled your eyes, giving up on challenging her. "He must really like this girl to go through this much trouble. I didn't know he could do something admirable."
"No way!" Tiffany exclaimed, eyes still glued to the screen. You and Jenna turned to her. "Jaehyun is the CEO's younger brother?"
Jenna exhaled sharply, rolling her eyes. "Oh, boy. I guess this is where it starts." She walked away, bidding you quick goodbyes before disappearing to the door. You and Tiffany stayed, waiting for the meeting to begin.
The next few days at work were filled with excited chatters and gossip. During the company's annual staff meeting, Jaehyun and Jenna are introduced as family members of the company. Their positions were also made official, sparking up a debate among the employees on whether they deserved their posts or if it was plain nepotism. You didn't join any of these discussions, but when you're alone with Jaehyun, you'd tease him for being a nepo baby and he'd just laugh at it.
"Should we go to work together today?" Jaehyun asked, nuzzling his nose on your neck.
"No," you replied briskly, scoffing as you pulled away from him. Jaehyun, a lot stronger than you were, grabbed your waist and pulled you back to bed with him.
Your apartment has never been this warm. Love emanated from the walls and you've never felt this content with a relationship. Jaehyun seemed to have made this small studio apartment his favorite place to be and you're not complaining at all. He would spend the night here almost every day. You would sleep in each other's arms, and wake up still cuddling.
"I made coffee," Jaehyun would boast in the morning. "And pancakes too but they're not as fluffy as the ones from the breakfast cafe."
"I love the pancakes you make," you would tell him.
And he'd say, "Thanks, I love you too."
He'd ask to drive you to work but you'd decline. It's been three months since he became head of HR, but the people at work are still clueless about your relationship. You liked it that way, but you also feel bad for Jaehyun who would often invite you to lunch or for coffee. It's not that you don't want to, it's mainly because you'd rather not be talked about. Jaehyun seemed to just take it in stride. He'd ask once in a while, and if you declined, he'd give up and try again next time. He's been most understanding of your reasons.
But then again, he's Jung Jaehyun; he will never let up until things go his way. That said, he walked into your office on a Wednesday afternoon, with a massive bouquet of red roses in his hand, and an even bigger smile on his lips. Your colleagues went into a frenzy, hurrying over to greet him and chat with him. Questions were thrown his way; ones like, 'What are you doing here?' or 'Is there anything we can do for you?' and 'Can we help you?' And then there are also comments like, 'I knew you looked familiar! You were the CEO's brother!' or 'You should have told us who you were!' and 'Man, I didn't overwork you, did I?'
Jaehyun was courteous and greeted everyone back, but after he was done with the pleasantries, he locked his eyes on you--his target. He waded through the crowd, his feet walking straight to where you were sitting quietly in your cubicle. You had hoped he would ignore you, or that no one would notice you. But that was impossible since you knew he was there for no other reason except to see you.
"Are those flowers for someone?" one of your colleagues asked and you mentally cursed him for asking because now, everyone's curious who the flowers were for.
"There you are," Jaehyun beamed, peering over the cubicle. You smiled sheepishly, taking a peek at your coworkers' shocked expressions.
"Can I help you, Mr. Jung?" you smiled back, hoping he'd take your cue and stop whatever he was trying to pull.
"No. I'm here to pick you up. We have dinner plans, remember?" he grinned, seemingly enjoying the way you're all flustered and shy. "You look great. Looks like we can go straight to the restaurant without changing."
"You're having dinner? Is it a company dinner?" Carl questioned, his hand raised in the air like an elementary student.
Tiffany was quick to slap his hand away. "Gosh, Carl, you're so clueless."
Jaehyun offered you the flower. "Shall we go then, my love?"
You've never heard a crowd gasp in unison before, but now you have. Cheeks burning in embarrassment, you took the bouquet and pushed yourself up. Jaehyun had a content smile on his lips when he offered to hold your hand, which you accepted.
"Jung Jaehyun, you really are a sly little bastard."
"You love me for it," he chimed.
And so, hand in hand, you and Jaehyun walked out of your office as a couple.

mastermind * op81
oscar did not expect that he had to share a bed with you during his trip to visit you over his break
pairings: oscar piastri x fem!reader
word count: 2k
notes: guys omg i've just been so squashed mentally so i've kinda been struggling to write but no worries,, here is a long overdue and that promised forced one bed trope with oscar <3
(f1 masterlist)
leaving you behind so he could travel the world was never part of the plan that oscar had mapped out in his head. and you packing up to move several hours away for grad school also was not the plan.
it just makes it all the harder during his short breaks to come and see you. his breaks are truly barely considered one, always asked to come down to headquarters for meetings and strategy talks.
but this time is different. he’s finally managed to shake off his duties this one time, taking a train to finally go and visit you.
there’s a festival nearby, or maybe a concert — he can’t remember which specifically — that didn’t allow him to book a hotel room for himself. besides, the solution is easy when you’ve been friends your whole life; he was just looking for a room out of courtesy and respect for your space.
but when you stepped forward and told him he’s being silly for looking at hotels, he knew that was your subtle way of telling him that he will be staying with you during his stay.
so here he is, a heavy and bulky backpack over his shoulders as his eyes bore on the door of your apartment. he hears some shuffling on the other side before the lock clicks, followed by squeaking as the door is pulled open.
it reveals you, hair up in a bun with your glasses sitting on your nose. you’re still in your pyjamas, he’s guessing you never left your apartment to prepare it for him.
“oscar!” you squeal, throwing your arms into the air. “you’re here!”
he beams and holds his arms out. “you knew i was coming!”
“i know, but i’m just so excited to have you here!” you finally take a step forward and bury yourself into his chest. “it’s been a while — you’ve just been so busy and unattainable.”
“unattainable is a bit much,” oscar chuckles as you open the door slightly wider and beckon to let him in, “just didn’t have the time to come down to you. but i still talked to you.”
you shrug, “i know.”
“well anyway,” he says, putting his bag down on the empty spots next to your couch, “thank you so much for letting me stay. if i didn’t know any better, i’d assume that you somehow hijacked the odds of all the hotels not having rooms available for my stay.”
you laugh, looking over your shoulder to give him a bewildered stare. “i’m not that powerful, oscar.”
it’s only then he realises that your couch was not prepped to be a bed, unlike what he had been expecting when he took up your generous offer to stay in your apartment. it’s not exactly his first time sleeping over at your place, but you almost always prepared your couch to be a bed when he pays a visit, which does not seem to be the case this time around.
“hey?” he calls out hesitantly, looking over his shoulder to get your attention as you trudge the kitchen by yourself. “the couch isn’t made up like a bed… did you forget or something?”
you tilt your head, convincingly confused at him. your eyes trail to the couch behind him before realisation hits you. “oh!” you break into a soft laugh as you approach him. “well, you see… it’s a new couch and it’s so fancy and pink — you can’t possibly sleep on it!”
oscar scans your couch. and to your defense, it does look very pristine and new, and very pink. he can understand where you’re coming from when you claim that he should not sleep on it.
“so, you know,” you say in a slightly softer voice, looking down to the ground to avoid his gaze, “we can share my bed — it’s more comfortable anyway. you wouldn’t get a good night’s rest on this tiny couch.”
oscar turns to look at you before he shrugs. “sure, i guess you know best.”
“i swear!” you squeal, guiding him towards your bedroom to let him settle his things inside. “the couch is too small for you.”
he can only keep laughing at the way you continue to defend your decision to let him share the bed with you.
this situation is less than ideal for him. not only has he spent years of your friendship silently pining for you, but now he is forced to share a bed with you for a week.
though, arguably, this is the best way to finally ease himself into asking you out. but he just can’t be too sure unless he hears it from your lips, telling him that you feel the same. but you’re not saying anything directly to his face.
oscar tries to push away the nerves from sharing a bed with you for the rest of the day. you go out and explore the town you’ve spent the past couple of months in, trying new dishes and taking him to your favourite spots. he enjoys the day with you, not having realised that he missed having you around this much in the time you spent apart.
he couldn’t make it out for your graduation, which sucked, but you claimed that it’s okay because he’s got a big boy job unlike you.
he completely forgot about the situation at hand. the one he spent almost half the afternoon thinking and stressing over, but went away the minute you were laughing at a joke he had made nonchalantly.
it wasn’t until he stepped out of the shower and saw you already passed out on the bed that he suddenly remembered that he was going to have to share the bed with you for the next few nights. you were comfortably nuzzled into one side of the bed with the blankets pulled up all the way to your chin.
oscar almost bails on sleeping on the bed with you, weighing how much more painful it could be if he just made up some stupid excuse and slept on the floor instead. ultimately, he deemed that it would be completely not worth the body pain if did that.
so he sucks it up and dragged his feet against the floor to join you in bed. he tries to carefully lie on the bed without waking you up, suddenly feeling slightly claustrophobic even though you had pushed yourself so far to the edge of the bed that he fears you might fall out at some point in the night.
alas, when the bed dips, he flinches at the way your eyes fluttered open and a lazy grin stretches your lips. “hey,” you croak out before turning to the other side of the bed to give him his space.
“sorry i woke you up,” oscar whispers, hesitantly climbing under the blankets. “goodnight.”
“goodnight, oscar.”
it takes him a while, but he does eventually fall asleep. all he could think of until he passed out was the fact that he is sharing a bed with you for the first time in your friendship. he truly doesn’t know how to act knowing that your back was pressed up against his as he drifted off to sleep.
however, he does have a very good rest. perhaps it was how soft your bed was that contributed to how well he slept. or maybe it’s the pair of arms strewn loosely over his stomach or the face nuzzled into his arm and– wait a second.
oscar opens his eyes, hyperaware of the way your body is now tangled in his with the blankets loosely covering both of your bodies. he wants to move your hand away or excuse himself before he lets his heart take over his mind and do something he might spend the rest of his life regretting.
you don’t seem to be bothered, because as if you had sensed it out of him, you pull your arm back to rub your eyes. “morning.”
“uh,” he hesitates to look at you, “hi?”
you hum, squeaking at the end. “something wrong?”
“you were um,” oscar clears his throat. he should just ask you out, shouldn’t he? he tries to reason out with him as fast as he can without worrying you. you’ve practically cuddled — for god knows how long through the night — and shared a bed; what could go wrong, right?
he will deal with the consequences if your answer is not as expected.
“what is it?” you pull back slightly and furrow your eyebrows. “what do you think we should have for breakfast?”
he blurts it out, which is not the way he envisioned himself ever asking you out. he considers himself calmer than the average person but there was something about your somehow forced proximity. “i like you a lot.”
“what?” you laugh, pulling back even more as your eyes widen.
oscar stares at you as he feels the whiplash of his decision hit him. he knew it. he should not have asked you out now; the rest of his trip would definitely be awkward the rest of his trip. he should have just asked you on his last day so he could spend the time apart getting past the embarrassment of getting rejected.
of thinking that asking his friend out is a good idea.
“oscar,” you laugh again, scrambling to sit up. his cheeks heat up, clenching his jaw as the embarrassment consumes his body whole. “of course, i like you too.”
he looks at you from the corners of his eyes, arms folded over his chest. he hears his heart in his ears, his entire body running from the sheer adrenaline of finally confessing to you about something he’s had to keep in his chest for years. “seriously?”
“you are so cute,” you put a hand on your chest and tilt your head. “how can i not?”
oscar lets out a heavy breath, his airways clearing at the positive ending the situation is seeing. “so can i take you out on a date today? if you don’t mind that we stray from your itinerary, of course… i know you spent a long time coming up with it.”
you shake your head, unable to contain the growing smile on your face. “i don’t care — we’re going on a date!”
— bonus
oscar stands up from his seat, starting to gather the used plates that littered your dining table. he’s found the time to be the one to visit you once more, after a long triple header of races, so he came down instead of having you travel out for him.
your first date went well, of course, and that eventually led to a second date. by the third date, oscar mustered up the courage once more to ask you to be his girlfriend.
you’d been friends for so long that it didn’t really matter when he asked you to make it official. at that point, it just felt long overdue when you also admitted that you’d had feelings for him for a while.
he catches a glimpse of your neat couch, pillows and a throw blanket stacked in the corner again like clockwork. he hears you walk out of the kitchen, handing him a glass of cold water. “you know… if you weren’t so weird about your new fancy couch, i probably never would have confessed my feelings to you.”
you put your glass down on the table and walk over to the couch without another word, pulling the cushions off and throwing it on the ground nonchalantly. oscar’s eyebrows shoot up as you unfold the bed, revealing the sofa bed that you had owned this entire time. “i know!” you beam, throwing your arms in the air.
he stares at you. “you… what?”
“yeah!” you squeak, now returning the cushions to show him the set-up of the sofa bed. “i orchestrated it all!”
“you’re sneaky!”

Word Count: 3.8k
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
"This is.. West 4th-Washington Square. Please stand clear of the opening doors."
Your heart was racing, your body practically trembling as you stared forward. Was this actually going to happen?
Ding
Quickly but carefully, you pushed yourself out of the opening of the subway. You didn't want to get trampled by the crowds of people trying to get in. You've learned better to just move as quickly as possible if you want to make it to your destination on time.
You also learned how easily frustrated people get when they are behind someone who either doesn't know where they are going or is just walking slowly.
Last year, you took the leap of faith and moved to New York City. Like many others, you dreamed of moving to this extravagant place to make a name for yourself. You daydreamed of walking the busy streets and having a cute tiny apartment with a skyline view. You sacrificed that latter wish for an in-unit washer and dryer - a real jackpot find!
While you certainly have made friends in the city, you often find yourself frustrated with the dating department. You have been on several first dates, a few that turned into second and third dates. One or two turned into potential relationships.
Yet, it would quickly fizzle out.
At first, you thought that it was something with you. You tried changing how you approach first dates, how you dress for them - anything that you thought you could be doing wrong was thought over meticulously.
"The problem isn't you," your roommate vowed. Your racing mind was settled by the NYC Dating Queen herself. She has been through the wringer with guys throughout the whole city. "You're in your 20s in New York City," she laughed. "Most guys are thinking with their dick first then their brain. Ever notice how many guys are reaching back out, begging for another chance?"
You slowly nodded your head. "Yeah, which is so annoying because by the time they think straight, I've already moved on."
Maybe you were a bit old-fashioned when it came to love. No, you weren't in the market to settle down quite yet. You wanted to meet someone and take things slow, go on dates, and be exclusive before making that big of a commitment. Getting the conversation out of the dating apps was the first milestone you wanted to achieve.
"Good! Don't give them any type of satisfaction. All of these guys are dates from Tinder?" "Yep," you announced, making sure to pop the 'p' before taking a sip out of your wine glass. "So you're also getting the mix of tourist guys who are just horny and wanting to fuck while visiting the city."
You groaned at the realization, your head leaning back against the arm of the couch. How was she always right about this kind of stuff?
"You deserve to meet your prince charming in another way. Clearly, dating apps are not cutting it." "And going up to a guy at the bar scares me," you confessed before fixing your posture.
The two of you were sitting on the couch. It was a snowy night in the city which caused many of your evening plans to get canceled. The two of you were nestled on the couch, watching a movement on HBO Max with a chilled bottle of red wine. Your other roommate managed to escape the apartment to go on a date tonight. Lucky bitch.
"You know how our lovely roommate is out on a date?"
You nodded again as you looked over, an eyebrow raised. Wherew as this going?
"She only got together with him once she deleted the dating apps and tried something different." And the look on your other roommate's face told you she had something planned for you.
That was how you find your way navigating through the busy streets of Manhattan. You had no idea that speed-dating was so popular, or that it could be successful. Your roommate's current relationship gave you hope that meeting someone this authentically could be the solution to your problems.
Tonight, speed-dating was taking place at a bar in Greenwich Village. You've honestly been trying to come grab brunch here as you were drawn to the aesthetics shown off on social media.
It did bring a smile to your face to see the white-painted door surrounded by vines. Three brick steps led up to the front door. It was like a little escape room all the steel and concrete of the city.
Even though you were ecstatic to be going to this new place, it didn't help your nerves. You were the type of person who loved getting to know someone for sure, but something was intimidating about going on multiple "first dates." You had to put on a good impression for more than an hour.
“Hi, you also hear for the speed dating?” A voice called out from beside you.
You looked over to see the most gorgeous man. He was tall, dressed in a black button up which peaked from the grey winter coat he was wearing. His hair was sleeked back with a few strands framing his forehead. He also wore this soft smile which made your knees weak. He was definitely going to be hot commodity tonight.
You nodded slightly, offering also a gentle smile. “How could you tell?” “Let’s just say I’m hoping to get to know you better tonight,” he said, winking.
It took everything in you not to let your jaw drop. You never met someone who spoke so coolly. He was the total package.
“Come on, let’s get you out of the cold. You’re practically shivering.”
Maybe it was from the chilly evening hair. Or maybe it was your nerves overriding your system. Either way, you were not going to disclose the truth. Not when this gentleman had his hand placed on your lower back to help you inside.
“Already trying to win me over?” You asked teasingly. “How could you tell?” He asked, matching your tone from earlier.
The two of you shared soft laughter as you crossed the threshold into the cocktail bar. There were tables lined up with white linen, a candle in the middle, and a short bouquet of flowers. Frank Sinatra was playing overheard, both screaming New York and romance. The mystery man stood slightly behind you, his hand leaving your back which you already missed.
“Hi! Sorry, we are closed for a private event,” the hostess said. “Oh no, sorry! We are both here for the speed-dating event,” you explained.
The hostess blush lightly from her mistake before nodding her head. “My apologizes, I assumed you two were already a couple since you walked in together. Can I get your name, please?”
You couldn’t help but feel your heart flutter at the insinuation. Sure, you guys happened to cross paths with the handsome stranger. Possibilities were endless though!
“Y/f/n y/l/name” “Great! All checked in. Here is your number ticket that indicates your table. And here is two drink tickets for the evening.”
You nodded, saying a quick “thank you.” You took the tickets before putting your phone in your purse. It bought you enough time to overhear the stranger behind you and gain some pieces of his identity.
“And your name, sir?” “Choi San.”
You smiled to yourself once you got his name. Choi San.
Not wanting to linger anymore, you began making your way to the long row of tables. Each table had a heart laminated and taped to the table. They were numbered 1-16. Glancing down at your ticket, you saw you were placed at number 7, your own lucky number.
More people were beginning to file into the establishment. However, you were trying your best not to scope out too much. You wanted to go into this open-minded, wanting to take in the experience while remaining open to the potential of finding a new connection. It didn’t help that your mind was already infiltrated with a man named Choi San.
“Looks like I’ll have to wait a little bit to get to know you, pretty girl,” San said.
He winked at you as he passed by your table, heading towards Table 8. Looks like you’ll be ending your night on a high note if he would be your last encounter of the night. You watched him for a moment. He sat on the opposite side of you, giving an indicator that the men will either be transitioning or the females will.
Feeling your eyes on him, he looked over at you too quickly for your liking. It didn’t give you enough of a chance to glance away. Your cheeks were also a key indicator what you had been up to, which weren’t really concealed despite the dimmed lighting. He chuckled lightly underneath his breath before he got to work at shrugging off his jacket.
You couldn’t pull your eyes away when his jacket off did in fact confirm the black button up he was wearing. What kept your attention was the way his fingers got to work unbuttoning the top 2, revealing his golden chest underneath. You wanted to be respectful, but you couldn’t help but slightly gawk at the man adjacent from you.
“Keep your eyes on me, angel. I’ll be coming for you.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Welcome ladies and gentleman to our fifth annual Cupid's Speeding Dating! Here is how it's going to go. Men are going to move to the left, switching the seat to chat with a new woman. You will have five minutes to make your best first impression."
Your eyes shifted over towards San, seeing that he would be moving further away from you at first. However, that just means you get to be the last person he talks to tonight.
"You know, there are a lot of things I can do in 5 minutes." You were interrupted by your internal thoughts by the man across from you. Your nose scrunched up as you understand quickly what he was suggesting.
"Please do not exchange numbers or socials until the next of the event. We want to make sure you are investing more into your conversations."
The guy across from you smirked again, winking. Ugh! Does this guy really think he has a chance?
You leaned back into the seat, wanting to create distance from you and your first date of the evening. You weren't much of a person to fixate on appearances. I mean, the guy was quite attractive. Yet, the moment he opened his mouth, all possible attraction flew out the door. It honestly just made you yearn more for San.
Noticing movement out of his peripheral, San glanced over. He flashed you a smile before going to pay attention to his current date. Sure, he knew he was most excited to talk to you, but he also didn't want to be rude. He just couldn't help but glance over to make sure you were okay.
"You can begin!" The host said excitedly.
Soon, the cocktail bar was filled with chatter. You decided to take a sip of water to ease your nerves, but also try to come up with a conversation to have with this guy. You were forced to be sat at the same time for the next five minutes anyways.
"So, what's your favorite position?"
This might possibly be the longest five minutes of your life.
Luckily, the guy talked more about himself which helped time run out. He was leaning across the table, as if he was trying to look down the top of your dress which caused you to only lean back into the wooden back of the chair. You also were silently thankful when the waitress brought over your first drink of the evening.
Beep beep beep. Beep beep beep.
"Okay, gentleman, please move one to your left."
The guy across from you let out a groan before pushing himself up. "I'll catch you after tonight," the guy said, winking. "Maybe we can go home together. Or slip into the bathroom for a little fun." You didn't even catch his name nor did you want to.
"It was nice chatting with you," San said next to you. "Good luck this evening!" There is an example of a gentleman.
As he got up to head to the next table, he smiled once more at the girl he was first chatting to. He also took a moment to glance at you, smiling a bit brighter. You felt as if you were going to melt in your seat. You just had to wait 14 more rounds before you got to be alone with San.
The second quickly blended itself until the 10th round. Sure, you loved chatting with the guys, and you could see yourself potentially going on a real first date with one or two. However, the whole time, you kept glancing over at San.
It would cause a twitch in your heart when he laughed at another girl's joke. The further he separated from you, the less you noticed his eyes finding yours. The reality that he could be more interested in someone else was beginning to set in. He could very much land at your table, being the last date of the night, and be exhausted. He could already have his heart set on another which caused you to sigh softly.
"I see you have eyes for someone already."
Looking up, you were greeted by a wide smile. The gentleman in front of you took a seat in front of you, running his hands through his hair to push back his hair. He was wearing an all-black outfit - dress pants that had a white, thin strip running up the side; a black v-neck that showed the silver chain around his neck, and a slightly oversized black sport coat.
"Sorry," you laughed lightly, blushing a bit. You didn't want to give off the wrong impression, especially when this gentleman seemed kind.
"No need to be sorry. Should introduced myself since it sees that you're gawking at my best friend," he said proudly. "My name is Wooyoung, and you are?"
You raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit intrigued. "Y/n." You took a sip out of your cocktail before setting it down on the counter. "You are friends with San?" "Oh, I see you two are on a first-name basis now. When is the wedding?"
Your cheeks got hotter as you took another sip out of your drink, which caused the young man to laugh. "Don't worry, I've seen him checking you out as well." "Stop, you're just saying that," you laughed. "We only met literally 30 minutes ago. There is no way that he is checking me out and I haven't noticed."
Leaning back into his chair, a smug grin curled onto his lips. He had one hand on the table, and the other resting on the back of the chair.
"You have no reason to trust me since I'm a complete stranger. However, I know my best friend. And I can tell you right now that if you look to my right side, you would be able to see San. And I bet he's fuming that his best friend is chatting up the girl he's been eyeing all evening."
You raised an eyebrow at this man's analysis. He looked at you challengingly, egging you on to look over to his right.
Unable to resist, you looked over. Your eyes widened as you noticed San was glancing from his date over to your table. His fists were clenched slightly while he did his best to maintain his composure in front of the woman he was chatting to. Yet, it was as if steam was about to shoot out of his ears.
"See?" Wooyoung said triumphantly. "You've got San wrapped around your pretty little finger, y/n."
Seeing San make eye contact with you, his eyes widened before he quickly looked away. You couldn't help but smile a bit brighter, your confidence starting to rise again. Maybe Wooyoung was right after all.
Beep beep beep. Beep beep beep.
"I'll definitely be seeing you around, y/n. Have a good rest of your evening," Wooyoung announced. He pushed himself up from his seat, about to move to the next table.
One thing you learned about Wooyoung in your short encounter was that he was filled with evil schemes and plots. For example, calling out how you and San kept looking at each other as if nobody could notice. You learned that while San was his best friend, he also liked getting a rise out of him.
Before you could say anything back to him, Wooyoung moved closer to you. He leaned down to press a firm kiss to your cheek, one everyone at the speed-dating event could see. Your eyes widened at his action. What was he thinking?!
People seemed to notice which caused cheers from the guys in attendance while the other women gasped. "Please keep it moving, Romeo," the event host announced. "You'll have enough time to show affection later."
"You'll thank me later," he whispered to you before moving to the seat at the next table.
You felt a bit guilty for not remembering the four guys. They seemed very friendly, having personalities that made it easy to talk to. You guys couldn't describe what on Earth was even said, not when your mind was counting down until you finally got to talk to San.
"You're a great listener, y/n. Too early to ask for your number?" "The host said no exchanging until after."
You looked over to see San standing up straight. You didn't think he did so maliciously, but it was obvious he was annoyed by the guy still sitting down. The guy you just talked to glanced over at you before putting his hands up in surrender and getting up.
Just as quick as the guy stood up, San slid into the seat. He moved the chair in so he could lean slightly over the table. "Do you like knowing your a hot commodity, angel?" He asked softly, a drastic change from how he just spoke.
"I have no idea what you are referring to," you said innocently.
San's hand moved to rest close to yours, his fingertips ghosting over your own. It sent electric shocks throughout your body just be being in close proximity.
"So you don't want to admit that my best friend had you giggling? You couldn't have thought that Wooyoung was seriously that funny. He gets all his best jokes from me!"
You could see San was getting a bit worked up. His chest was puffed up, wanting to present himself as a better option against whoever stood in his way, even if it was his best friend. Little did San know he had no true competition when you've had your eyes on him all evening.
"Actually, I found it adorable how jealous you get. Wooyoung merely pointed out this fact," you said, smirking.
You noticed then San's shoulders slump over a bit. His cheeks were flushed as he stared at you for a moment before looking towards the end of the row where Wooyoung was. Wooyoung, who was watching you two this whole time and offered a wave over to you two.
Sensing that San was getting a bit flustered, you moved your hand to rest on his. This caused his attention to move back to you, a smile curling onto his lips. He glanced down at your hands, eyes flickering to yours. You were not sure what he was looking for, but it became clear once he slipped his fingers in between yours.
And he looks for consent before doing anything? What a jackpot.
"I'll have to admit though. I was also getting jealous. I didn't like seeing you laugh with other girls when it should've been me," you confessed. Sure, you were just as embarrassed owning up to your faults, but you also hoped an ounce of your truth made San feel better.
It seemed to do the trick as his body relaxed. His thumb gently caresses the side of your index finger. You noticed his eyes were not leaving yours whatsoever, unlike before when his eyes would wonder around.
"Well, darlin', we don't need to wait anymore. You've got me all to yourself."
You and San spent the next hour or so chatting. You talked about your childhood, how you both ended up in New York City, and all your favorite things. Every time you talked, San looked at you as if you were made out of gems. He just adored listening to you, finally being sat at the same table with you.
San has always wanted to come to the United States. At first, it was to practice his English. However, he quickly realized that he wanted to learn more about people. He was currently researching graduate programs to study Sociology.
So not only is he kind and physically attractive, but he also was outgoing and intelligent. He was just checking every one of your boxes!
But he also was falling hard for you. He was impressed with how you took a leap into moving to New York City by himself. He was lucky to have Wooyoung whoo made the whole transition easier, so he couldn't imagine taking on the city solo. He admired your courage.
He also wouldn't vocalize it quite yet but he almost felt as if you two were destined to be in the same city.
The two of you didn't even notice that the other participants had left. The guys you had talked to tried staying around to grab your number, fuming at how San seemed to have snatched all your attention. Being the great friend Wooyoung is, he ushered them out so you and San could be uninterrupted.
It was as if Wooyoung was your own Cupid, doing everything in his power to make sure the love connection worked.
"I'm sorry, love birds, but we need to close up for the night."
San and you looked around, not realizing that all the tables had been cleaned and cleared after the event. The room was silent except for the noise of movement in the kitchen.
Looking back at you, he bit his lip. The clogs were stirring in his mind as if he was trying to figure out what to do next. Of course, you two would leave the cocktail bar, but then what? He looked as if he was afraid to say goodbye, and so were you.
"Why don't we walk around the Village? I'm sure we could find a late-night diner that isn't too crowded." "That sounds perfect."
San helped you out of the table before lifting yup your winter coat. He held it out for you, assisting you in slipping your arms through the sleeves. You turned slightly to press a kiss to his cheek, which made San light up like a little kid on Christmas day.
He quickly slipped on his own jacket before going to rest his hand back on your lower back. He nodded his head, both apologizing for overstaying but thanking the host for putting together the event.
She smiled understandingly as she witnessed San escort you back outside. His free hand pushes the front door open for you.
Maybe love did exist in New York City after all.

thunderstruck | marcus pike
Summary | You're scared of storms but it's okay, because Marcus always knows how to soothe you.
Pairing | Marcus Pike x F!Reader
Word Count | 1.4K
Warnings | Explicit - descriptions of thunderstorms, softness/fluff, rain, established relationship, oral sex (f receiving), dirty talk, our boy Marcus just being Marcus. No use of y/n.
Authors Note | This is my contribution to @undercoverpena's April Showers Challenge. It's a blessing that I got anything out because this brief gave me so many ideas, but I've missed my man and knew he would be the one I'd want to comfort me through a rain storm. Enjoy.

Are you busy?
No baby, what’s up?
I don’t like the storm.
They’ve never been your favourite. Something about growing up on the coast, when the rain and wind would bring the waves crashing near your home, and your parents would walk about like nothing was wrong and there wasn’t the immediate danger of your house being washed out to sea. The nights, when the wind would clatter the shutters against the windows and drag tiles from the roof to break onto the ground. It might be Washington D.C. now and you might live in a new apartment building, but it doesn’t make the torrential rain and gale force winds any easier to handle.
You’re sitting on the couch, curtains drawn with all the lights on to try and make it feel less scary, but when the first clap of thunder hits you jump and scream all the same, burying yourself further under the blanket, some childhood wish for that to keep you safe.
There’s a knock at the door a little while later, the only thing that could drag you from the warm cocoon of blankets. Padding gently to the door, you open it, Marcus stood in front of you, dripping wet from the storm outside. He steps across the threshold, arm wrapping around your waist as he dips to press a kiss to the crown of your head.
“This feels stupid.” You grumble as you shut the door behind him, following close to his heels as he walks through your apartment, so familiar with it now that it feels like home to have to him here.
“It’s not stupid if you’re scared, baby.” He soothes, sitting down on your couch, opening his arm to encourage you to snuggle into his side, which you do without question.
You can feel his thumb tracing soothing circles on your arm as you settle a little, but it’s short-lived, when a crash of thunder bellows through the room from outside, making you jump and bury your head into the side of his neck with a groan.
“I blame the coast,” You speak softly, “I was always so scared of it blowing our house away when I was small.”
“You know what helps?” Marcus murmurs against your head, another soft kiss placed to it.
“Hmmm?”
“Sometimes you’ve just got to be louder than the storm.”
You look up at him, confused for a second, until you can feel him moving the two of you, laying you gently down on the couch. His mouth sponges kisses across your neck, trailing down across your collarbone before he drags it away to peel your tank top from your body. You hear Marcus hum in approval at your lack of bra, his hands gently pressing your tits together before his mouth is suckling a nipple into his mouth, tongue flicking over it until it’s stiffened to a peak, giving the same attention to the other side until you’re gasping, bucking your hips into his, the bulge in his trousers evident as his mouth trails further south, tongue leaving a trail from your tits and down your stomach until he gets to the waistband of your pyjama pants.
“Lift up.” He murmurs softly, voice almost drowned out by the constant smattering of rain against the windows.
Doing as you’re told, you lift your hips up, letting him hook his fingers into the waistband to drag them down your legs. You miss the weight and warmth of his body when it’s gone, but then you feel his warm palms on the inside of your thighs, pressing your legs open, and then you don’t mind so much at all, especially when you look up at him, watching him admire the already sticky mess accumulating between your thighs.
Marcus moves to run his thumb across your folds, dragging your slick across your skin, but not daring to dip below to where you truly want him.
“Such a pretty pussy.” He muses, moving to situate himself between your legs, hot mouth pressing wet kisses to the delicate skin of your thighs, teasing you by putting his mouth everywhere but where you need it most.
“M-Marcus, please.” You whimper when his face moves, he’s so close to your cunt you can feel the hot of his breath.
“What do you want, baby?” He asks, running that damn thumb over your folds once more, this time though, his other thumb rests to the side, gently pulling your folds apart to bare you to him, “Want me to kiss it a little?”
“Oh god, oh please Marcus, please.”
“Sound so pretty when you beg for it.” He speaks, and you’re about to say something smart when he leans forward and presses a single, open-mouth kiss to your clit.
It’s tiny in comparison to what you really want, but it makes you throw your head back anyway, back arching, trying to press your cunt closer to his face. Thankfully, he takes pity on you, kisses your clit once, twice more, and then you can feel the tip of his tongue, flicking up against your clit, then dragging back down, sometimes circling, working you gently until you’re whining and bucking your hips into his face.
You’d almost forgotten about the storm outside, the movements of his tongue distracting you just enough, until the loudest clap of thunder echoes through the apartment. It makes you scream, jumping slightly, but you feel Marcus’ hands grip tightly to the skin of your thighs, tearing his mouth away from you. You look down at him, mouth glistening with a mix of your slick and his spit, glint across his brown eyes.
“What did I say?” He asks, squeezing at your thighs again, “What did I tell you earlier?”
“Um…” You wrack your brain, trying to remember, “I needed to be louder than the storm?”
“That’s right, my clever girl,” He praises, heat rising across your skin, “If you scream for me, you won’t notice.”
Once again, before you can retort with your smart mouth, he’s back on you, lips closing around your clit, tongue resuming it’s flicking across your bundle of nerves, but then you can feel two of his fingers sinking inside you, easing into your walls, curling up against that perfect spot inside of you.
It makes you cry out, his name dropping from your lips as you arch off the couch, his tongue working in time to the press of his two fingers in your cunt. You’re chanting his name into the room, moving your hips in time to the movements of his hands until you’re teetering on the edge of bliss. He knows, of course he does, the way your walls start to flutter around his fingers, so he slows his fingers, keeping you dangling over the edge but not quite pushing you just yet.
“Marcus p-please,” You whimper, hands tangling in his hair, “Please make me come.”
“You asked so nicely, baby,” He muses against your pussy, letting his fingers curl just perfectly against the spongy spot inside you, “Whenever you’re ready honey.”
It takes very little more, his mouth suckling at your clit, his fingers pressing inside you, and then you’re crashing, skin aflame with pleasure as you do exactly as he told you and scream his name into the living room, body convulsing, gushing around his fingers as they still inside you. You’re clenching around him as his tongue moves gently across your clit to work you through your orgasm until you’re boneless and pliant beneath him.
Marcus drags his fingers from you, letting them run up the skin of your thighs, as he finally relents and pulls away from you, just in time for more thunder to sound out, this time a little further away.
“Well, listen there,” He whispers, fingers moving to undo the button of his trousers, “Storm still hasn’t passed,” He speaks as he drags the zipper down, “Think you can make a little more noise, baby?”
You reach up, hand clutching the back of his neck to pull him back down on top of you, mouth meeting his, tasting yourself on his tongue as he kisses you before you pull away, “I can make all the noise you want.”

Tortoise Storytime!
For most of his life, the scale burger lived in an enclosure that was about 7.5 square feet (~0.7 square meters). This is usually way too small- but he lived in a facility that always had someone on staff, letting him roam the floors while they worked on something nearby.
During covid, I worked at this reptile facility to replace workers who were higher risk and staying home. And I feel deeply in love with this lil bean of a tortoise. He was incredibly vibrant and friendly, was so habituated to humans that he didn't even have an instinct to retract into his shell, and was just flat out adorable.
A year after moving away for my PhD, my old boss reached out to me and asked if I could provide a good home to any of the animals. I instantly asked for this guy.
Unfortunately, I absolutely felt like I made a mistake for a while. I quickly realized that, as busy grad student that worked during the day, I couldn't be letting him roam outside of his small enclosure all the time. For the past year, I've been doing the best I can, experimenting with small enclosures, outdoor time, and floor time to best address his needs. But it always felt temporary and subpar.
As a Russian Tortoise, he has a partial hibernation cycle. For some weird reason, his is inverted with the actual seasons. So when he settled down in the late spring and started pseudohibernation, I could breathe easy for a bit. I left him with some caretakers over the summer, who didn't have much trouble with a sleeping tortoise, and went around having my adventures.
But I knew I wanted something nice waiting for him when he started being active again.
Introducing: the tortoise palace
I had several things in mind for a new enclosure. I wanted it to maximize space in my apartment, maximize my space in my apartment, and have somewhat easy teardown in case I have to move. So, I lifted my bed to be about 4 feet off the ground, and made the enclosure under it. The entire setup is in latched-together pieces that can easily be taken apart and set up again.
I've added climbing enrichment in the form of garden bricks, rocks, and multiple forms of substrate (orchid bark as the main, reptibark, coco coir, and rabbit pellets in deeper dig boxes) but I'll be adding more as time goes on. He's been loving climbing around and I can't wait to see what he'll do with other stuff.
It's an ongoing project, and there's a lot of "temporary solutions that are kinda-permanent" in here, but I'll be fixing those over time. Notably, the walls are pretty low- he can't get out, but I have to be cognizant of putting things he can climb on near the edges. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears! But for now, here's the beast, his unfathomable power just barely contained.
Tiny bit of emotion under the cut.
I know this is dumb. But finishing this genuinely made me cry a little.
I've felt so bad about keeping this guy in what I know is a subpar environment for so long, and doing the best I could to keep him happy and healthy within it. But it was always barely keeping my head above the water.
And now, I finally feel like I have a good, permanent solution to it. This design, by definition, will fit in the space of a full sized bed in any place I live in the future. I feel like I finally provided something good for him. I know he's just a tortoise, but I really do love him, and I love seeing him happy and safe.
Idk. It's all rambles. But thanks for loving and appreciating the wonderful critter he is <3

*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚*:・゚✧
The rent was cheap. Suspiciously cheap.
You should’ve been wary, but you didn’t have many options. After a bitter fallout with your roommate, you needed to move out quickly. You should’ve paid more attention to the listing, you realise, as you stop in front of the building and it sinks in that your new digs weren’t 18 square metres.
It was eight square metres.
Thankfully, you didn’t have much furniture with you, needing to sell it all to afford the move. Your apartment was essentially one long, two-story hallway, just enough for your desk chair and TV.
You get settled in quickly, trying to liven up the place by replanting your herb garden outside on your small porch. The apartment doors faced an alley, and on the other side of the alley was another apartment building. You didn’t know how much sunlight your basil would get, but that’s a problem for future you.
A problem for the current you, however, was your neighbour's motorcycle. The bike is an exact replica of the legendary Honda Super Cub that was used in the original anime Akira, and as pretty as it is, that shit is loud. His apartment is right on the edge by the sidewalk, meaning the only place he can park it is right in front of your window.
You’ve tried everything. Earplugs. Noise-cancelling headphones. Ear plugs under your noise-cancelling headphones. Sleeping with a white noise machine. Nothing works. You only moved in a month ago but you’re already sick of this mysterious man and his bike. You don’t run into each other often, catching glimpses of him as he drives off in the morning and comes home at night. You didn’t want to be that neighbour, the one that complains about every single little thing, but it was driving you mad. He revs his bike so loudly and for so long, that you’re starting to think he’s doing it on purpose.
You wake up that fateful morning and decide you’ve had enough. You wait for him to return home, hyping yourself up in the mirror before heading outside to confront him. You idle nervously in front of his front door for a few seconds before knocking.
He answers, looking exhausted, his hair a mess from his helmet. “Yeah?” You have to admit, he’s pretty cute. Tall and lean, with bicep muscles that strain against the fabric of his black t-shirt. And you swear you can see some eyeliner smudged on his water line.
You smile, trying to come across as calm and casual, slightly flustered by how attractive he is. “Hey. I’m your new next-door neighbour,” You gesture with your thumb. “I don’t wanna be that person, but would it be possible for you to not rev your engine so loud in the morning? It’s just…it’s right by my window, and it’s really loud.”
He lets out a sigh of frustration, not exactly in the mood for what you're throwing at him. It was already 9 pm on the third day in a row that he had worked the late shift, and this was not something he needed right now. He looks at you, his expression a mixture of irritation and confusion. “Look, I'm not doing it on purpose. I park where I park, nothing is going to change that. You just moved in, this is how it's been and how it's always going to be.”
You blink, a little taken aback by how rude he was being. “I understand that, but surely I'm not the only person in the building who gets inconvenienced by your bike.”
He crosses his arms, his eyes narrowing. The last thing he wants to do after a long shift is argue with someone about something as insignificant as noise. “Look, if you don't like it, then move out. I don't see anybody else complaining. You're the only one.”
You clench your jaw. You had some experience with bikes, your ex-boyfriend being a mechanic. You knew it was possible to make the revving quieter, it just seems like he didn’t care. “Can’t you just buy a muffler silencer?”
He lets out a short, sharp laugh, one that doesn't hold a single trace of humor. “A muffler silencer? For a Super Cub? Are you serious? That would be like asking a Ferrari to be quiet.”
“You can’t expect everyone to just be okay with how loud your bike is, man.” You say. “I’m sure it inconveniences everyone in the building, but no one wants to be the person that confronts you.”
He seems to be holding back from saying what he wants to say, taking a shallow breath. “Look. It's my bike. I can do whatever I want with it. No one else is bothered, so why should you be any different? Why do you care so much?”
“You’re not the only person who works early mornings.” You say. “You aren’t the only person in the world, you know.”
That strikes a nerve, clearly, but he still doesn't seem interested in hearing what you're saying. He just rolls his eyes, looking away at his bike for a moment before looking back at you. “Sorry to burst your bubble, but in case you haven't realised, you're not that important.”
“Neither are you.” You say impulsively. It was mean, and you didn’t like being mean, but he wasn’t giving you any other option.
He glares at you, his expression darkening. It's only for a moment, but you can see there is actual vitriol in his eyes. “Look, I'm going to make this simple for you. If you don't like the noise, then move out. That bike is not going anywhere. It has more meaning to me than you'll ever understand.”
“Yeah, I’m sure Akira meant so much to you as a kid,” You say sarcastically. “It doesn’t matter. You can’t keep doing this, man. Buy a muffler silencer.”
He laughs, but there's a slight tinge of bitterness to it. “Oh, so it's just a cartoon to you? It’s not an influential masterpiece that changed motorcycle and animation culture forever? Okay, great. Good to know.” He is starting to get worked up, but then he shakes his head, trying to regain his composure. “Look, like I said, I am not doing anything to this bike. Not the mufflers, nothing.”
“Then park it somewhere else.” You snap. “Keep it away from my window. I don’t want to hear that shit.”
There's a flash of annoyance on his face. “There's no place to park it away from your window unless I block the sidewalk, which I guarantee you would cause more inconvenience. You're just going to have to deal with it.”
“Are you always this rude and stuck up?” The question stumbles out of your mouth before your mind can process it.
His temper flares up. He takes a step towards you, putting his hands on his hips as he glares at you. “Are you always this entitled and self-absorbed?”
You take a step back. You hate to admit it, but the way he towers over you is arousing. His cologne fills your nostrils and you find yourself getting lightheaded. It was slightly spicy, with a hint of vanilla and coffee.
You ground yourself, swallowing hard. “Look, I don’t want to argue with you. I just want us to come to a reasonable compromise.”
He glares at you, his eyes boring into you as you step back. You can feel the heat on your skin as if every drop of sweat in his body has been activated by the situation. His cologne is overwhelming you, filling your whole body. “There is no compromise to make here. You don't like the noise, tough. You're just going to have to get used to it or move out. That's it.”
Your eye twitches. “You’re such an asshole.” At this point, you didn’t feel bad being mean to him. He kind of deserved it.
He laughs, seeming almost amused by your temper. “You're one to talk. You come barging up to my apartment, demanding I make changes to my bike, and then you get mad at me when I tell you not to waste your time. Look in the mirror, sweetheart, and then come back with the right to tell me I'm an asshole.”
Fuck. You shouldn’t like the way he says sweetheart, but it causes your throat to dry up. “I tried to be nice to you,” You say. “You’re the one that got defensive and rude.”
“Nice? Maybe in your little dreamland that's what you think you were doing. Maybe you even believe that you were just being friendly and reasonable, I don't know. But in reality, all you were doing was pissing me off and acting like some sort of entitled princess.” He takes a step closer to you, his finger pointed in your face. “But one thing is certain. I’m not changing anything about my bike just to make you happy.”
He’s so close to you that it makes your head spin. You step back again, leaning against the railing surrounding his small porch. “Look, I’m sorry, but you can’t blame me for being upset.”
He doesn't seem interested in letting you off the hook yet, not when he looks so close to snapping. “It doesn't matter if you're upset or not. You don't get what you want by coming here and giving me an attitude like a fucking brat.”
You swallow hard. Fuck. You shouldn’t be attracted to this man, he was rude as hell and didn’t seem to care that he was inconveniencing not only you but everyone in the building. But you couldn’t help yourself. He was so pretty, and he smelled so good, and his voice was so nice. You were going to have to change your panties when you got back home.
You stand up straight, trying to stay headstrong. “You’re being incredibly rude about this.”
“And you're being incredibly entitled. There's only one of us that needs to change here, and it's not me.” He narrows his eyes, his gaze still burning into you.
You lick your lips. “Look, we’re not going to get anywhere by arguing.”
He gives another one of those short, sharp laughs. He smiles, and it makes your stomach flip. “You finally said something smart. I didn’t know it was so difficult for you. Now, are you ready to accept that you're not going to get what you want, or do you want to keep wasting my time?”
Your eyes narrow. What the fuck? “Excuse me? Did you just call me dumb?”
A smirk spreads across his lips. “You heard me. Or did you need me to repeat it for you?”
You let out a sharp laugh, moving off of his porch. “You know what? Fuck you.”
He raises his eyebrow, a faint smile on his lips. “Oh, so you've switched from demanding to insults? Real mature, aren't you?”
You head over to your apartment, laughing again. “I should’ve known trying to reason with you would be impossible.”
He calls after you. “You're damn right it's impossible. You come here, make some demands, and then get mad when I tell you no. You're a spoiled brat who always gets her way, aren't you? Well, today's a bad day for you, sweetheart.”
“Fuck you.” You say, holding the door to your apartment open. “You don’t know anything about me.”
“I’m not sure I want to.” He says, smirking slightly. “I’m not into brats like you. I think you need to be taken down a few pegs. You need someone to put you in your place.”
You scoff and flip him off before slamming the door behind you, and just like that, you have given up.
He leans against his door, crossing his arms and smiling as he watches you leave, his eyes on your ass. He’s just a tiny bit disappointed that you gave up so quickly. He's got to admit, it was pretty fun messing with you, watching how angry you get. He thought you looked cute like that, your cheeks all red and flustered.
Maybe next time…

Chapter V: BACKCOURT
Masterlist
Pairing: Art Donaldson x F!Reader
Warnings: Toxic family dynamic, toxic parents, mild abuse.
Author's Note: Woo this is a longer one (a little over 5k 😬). In this chapter, we dive deep into Reader's background to see how she became the way she is now. Art is not in this chapter much, but I promise he'll be back and his appearance will be delicious.
GIF Source: @/roranicuspond
2021. San Francisco.
4 AM. Two hours felt endless in your sleepless state. You sat up and, after a moment of contemplation, left the bed.
You settled on the couch with a glass of water and turned the TV on. Flipping through the channels, your eyes unfocused over the flashing images. A familiar face appeared for a brief second before vanishing. Your body went still, and your finger rested atop the forward button before reluctantly pressing backward. The image changed again, and Art's face filled your screen once more. His lips moved, but you didn't hear a thing. From the close-up, you could see the small changes in the face you had missed so much. His hair looked longer, and as he dipped his head slightly to hear the interviewer's question better, the movement pulled a strand of dirty blond out of the neat slicked back and drew it over his forehead. He looked much happier than you saw him last. You increased the volume to hear him better.
"I've been busy with the foundation. It's a lot of work, but I find it very fulfilling. I might be retired, but tennis is still an important part of my life, you know? And, of course, spending time with my family–"
The screen turned to black, leaving you to confront yourself. You stared at the empty screen, where Art was seconds ago, at your guilty conscience. After all that time, you were still stupefied at the mere sight of him. Your heart ached in your chest, and you felt a new kind of exhaustion taking over your body. Your loneliness crept along the edge of that guilt as you looked away from your own reflection. This empty apartment used to harbour the presence of another, but that was long gone. It took a while for this place to feel like it belonged to only you again.
A muffled sound of an incoming text came from the bedroom. You rose from the couch and went to retrieve it. The text was from your sister.
Call me when you can.
You opened her contact info and called. Two rings later, she picked up.
"Hey Soph. Is everything okay?"
"Everything is fine. Isn't it early for you?"
"It is, but I wasn't sleeping anyway. What's up?"
There was a brief silence on her end. You had a feeling what her call was about before she said it.
"Dad called me. He asked about you, and if you were planning on coming home this Thanksgiving this year."
"And?"
You could hear your sister's soft sigh on the other end.
"He wants to follow up with you on his cut from your second book."
The Dollhouse was partly autobiographical. It took inspiration from your childhood, grew a solid root and allowed the fictional elements to take shape and become the story it was. It spent ten consecutive weeks as number one on the New York Times best sellers list, but the aftermath dulled the achievement. Your parents picked it up, and so did some people they knew, and for a while after that, they sent you texts doused in anger and emails with thinly veiled threats. Most of them came from your dad, all of them explicitly expressed indignation and wrath, and none of them received a response from you.
"He's not getting a penny. The Dollhouse was fictional."
"I told him that, but he wouldn't listen."
"He can take it up to my lawyer."
After a moment, you asked.
"Did mom say anything?"
Your sister fell silent again. Before the release of The Dollhouse, things were already strained between you and your mom, and after, the contact slowed until it ceased to exist. You hadn't talked in a few years, and to you, it was for the best.
2006. Your hometown.
Despite school ending on the 16th, you booked the train ticket home for the 22nd. The early train was quiet as most people in this cabin retreated to their own bubbles. Some read, some slept, and some listened to music with their earbuds. The nerves in your lower abdomen seized, and all of a sudden, the cookie Grace made two days ago became so sickeningly sweet that you had to put it back in the wrapper. You sighed as you looked out into the passing scenery. Home had always been a tough subject for you, and it involved complicated feelings that you couldn't put into words. How could you confide in someone that the idea of going home filled you with a sense of dread?
Standing in front of the door to your childhood home, you took a deep breath and straightened your posture. You rang the doorbell and listened for its muffled echo from the inside. You could see that the TV was on from the bay window with the curtain swept to the side. Your dad was in his usual seat, watching a game. After a moment, you rang again. You watched as your father took a sip of his beer and placed the bottle back on the small table before reclining further into the chair. You heard hurried footsteps making their way to you, and the door opened to reveal Sophie. She excitedly called out your name and pulled you into a tight hug.
"I'm so happy you're here! How was your trip?"
"It was fine. How are you doing?"
"Hanging in there."
Your sister looked relieved now that you were here.
"How are … Mom and Dad?"
You asked, and Sophie caught onto the underlying message.
"Mom is grumpy because Dad's not helping. She's stressed out about the Christmas dinner. She hasn't decided on what to make for dessert."
"Oh, no."
Usually, by this time of Christmas, she already had a detailed plan for the big family dinner on the 25th, from appetizers to desserts to finger food before the dinner started. She prided herself on the Christmas feast, which was hosted by your family every year.
"Yep. Also, the tree hasn't been decorated."
"It's… the 22nd."
"I know. That's why Mom has been in rare form the whole week."
You grimaced. Your sister ran her hands up and down your arms reassuringly.
"You've got this. I'll be here with you."
You nodded, and the two of you headed inside. You dragged your suitcase with you as Sophie announced your arrival, but you were only met with silence. You stopped at the door to the kitchen and took in the chaos. Not a lot of free counter space was spared from the various pots and pans and unfinished dishes. Your mom was standing with her back to you, chopping vegetables and dropping them into the big pot.
"Hi, Mom."
She didn't turn around to acknowledge you, but she addressed you as she took a break from the vegetables to stir a smaller pot.
"I thought your exams were done on the 13th?"
"They were, Mom."
"Then why didn't you come home earlier?"
"I had work."
"I highly doubt that they were so busy that they needed you there."
"But … they were. It's Christmas."
"Almost Christmas. I don't see why you couldn't come home earlier and help me with the housework."
The enunciation in her words was hard to miss. She went back to the cutting board, her movement more precise now, and riddled with more force.
"I booked the train as soon as I was able to."
"My life would have been so much easier if you were a little more thoughtful than that."
"I'm sorry, Mom. I–"
She finally turned to look at you.
"Why are you still standing there? Put your suitcase away before someone trips on it and help me."
Sophie gave you a look of sympathy. You obeyed your mother's dismissal and took your suitcase upstairs to your old bedroom. Your parents made you repaint and fill in the screw marks before you left, and now it had turned into a workspace of some sort. On one side, there was a computer setup with a wooden cabinet filled with files, paper and books. The other side was your bed, with a blue sheet covering the whole bed. You pulled it off and found your old bed sheet, just like how you left it a few months ago. You wheeled the suitcase over to the old dresser, your eyes roaming over the fine layer of dust on its surface. You lowered yourself to the bed, allowing yourself a moment of seclusion away from your parents. You wanted to lay down, to close your eyes, and to escape for a while. Being here for less than ten minutes had left you with a taste of dejection. It'd started to gather in your throat, but you didn't want it to win. You were stronger than this. So you swallowed it down and buried it deep, putting on a smile before heading downstairs to join Sophie and your mother.
Your effort and helping hand in the kitchen didn't improve your mom's mood. She complained about your hair, telling you how much it irritated her eyes and making you put it up with a hair tie. She was there to criticize the ratio of the marinade and the meat, the way you prepared the rolls of grilled beef, and the piping on the cupcakes. It was exhausting, but you kept the smile on your face and did as she said. About two hours later, the fridge was filled with food and prepared ingredients for Christmas day. You went to the washroom to catch a quick break from your mother's nagging and checked your phone. There was a missed call, along with a text from Art.
I hope your trip home was good :). I wanted to call to see how you were doing.
– I'm home now. Sorry I couldn't talk. Maybe later?
He responded within the minute.
Promise?
– Promise.
A short while after that, dinner was served. The preparation was paused for the day. During dinner, you told your parents about Stanford. Your dad was silent for the most part, only responding with a grumble here and there. Your mom, on the other hand, was very inquisitive in a way that made dread grow in the pit of your stomach.
"Did you know you could also take English here? At Lawrence?"
"Yes, I know, but the program is so much better in Stanford."
"So you're telling me Lawrence is not good enough for you? I went to Lawrence."
"I'm not saying that, Mom. At Stanford, the program is really detailed, and they have so much more to offer."
Your dad decided to chime in.
"It's a useless degree anyway. You were born and raised here with English as your first language."
"There's so much more than that, Dad."
He snorted.
"So much more of my money. It's a waste."
"I promised you I'll pay you back. Besides, your money is for the rent for my first year, not tuition."
If it wasn't for the scholarship, you would have never left this place.
"If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have a place to live."
Your father's friend from college owned the building, so you got the shared apartment at a much cheaper price. Your rent was covered by your dad since you didn't have a lot of money when you started college.
"No, I wouldn't have. I'm really grateful for your help."
"Thank you. Wasn't that so hard?"
Your sister tried to dissolve the tension in the air, and your parents went with it. The attention was taken off of your shoulders, and you were grateful for it.
/
You went to your sister's bedroom that night to catch up. You sat next to her on the bed while she lay down with her feet propped up against the wall. Grade 11 was proven to be dull and unexciting in the small town. The conversation eventually reared its head back to your parents.
"How do they treat you here?"
You asked, and Sophie sighed.
"They're not too awful most days."
She looked at you, and you could see the empathy in her eyes.
"I don't understand why they're so hard on you."
You shrugged, looking down at your socks.
"I do. Mom has said it so many times. I'm stubborn; I don't listen to them; I wasn't a good kid growing up …"
"So what? It doesn't mean they get to treat you like this."
"Maybe they do. They just want what's best for me."
"The way they show it is not okay. It shouldn't be like that."
A part of you wanted to agree. You wanted, so badly, to believe that you were a good person. Because a good person deserved good things. And if you were the person your parents had made you think you were, then you deserved nothing at all. You gave your sister a reassuring smile despite the doubt in your head.
"I know."
"I'm sorry. It's unfair."
You brushed it off.
"Don't apologize. It's not your fault that they prefer you to me. One of us has to be the favourite."
Sophie gave you an incredulous look, and you shared a laugh. You missed this, talking to your sister about anything. She turned to the side, facing you, and braced herself on her elbow.
"So, tell me about Stanford."
By the arch of her eyebrow, you could tell the conversation was going in the direction you weren't exactly thrilled about.
"It's … good. The campus looks nice, but the course work is a lot."
She rolled her eyes.
"That's not what I'm talking about. Has anyone caught your eye yet?"
Your mind went to Art, and you felt a gentle warmth that felt like a ray of sunshine enveloped your heart. You looked away from your sister briefly before uttering one single word.
"No."
Sophie sat up, pushing into your space.
"I can see right through you. You're such a terrible liar."
You kept your lips sealed.
"Come on, tell me."
There truly was no way of denying Sophie's pleading eyes, so you ended up telling her about Art after a few moments of resistance. You watched her expression change as you wrapped up the story.
"Is he your boyfriend now?"
You realized you had never had that talk.
"We … haven't talked about that yet."
"You obviously like him. Why haven't you asked?"
You shrugged noncomittally.
"I don't know. I think a label is unnecessary."
"What if someone swoops in and takes him from you?"
Sophie snapped her fingers, demonstrating the snatching of Art. You held out a hand.
"Okay, first of all, he's not an object that anyone can take. He doesn't belong to me and vice versa. Second of all, if he is so easily … taken away like that, then he never really likes me to begin with, and I'll be better off without him."
It was an upsetting thought, allowing a tendril of doubt to slither in. Sophie shook her head.
"I don't understand you."
"I just feel like we're not there yet, you know? Whenever I'm with him, I feel … seen. There's no expectation that I have to meet. That's enough for me."
"He'd better appreciate you. You're amazing."
You hugged your sister. She had always seen the best in you despite the doubts you had. You weren't entirely sure you were this amazing person your sister seemed to think you were. Breaking away from the hug, you said.
"Speaking of Art, I promised that I would call him earlier."
"Call him here."
"No."
You shook your head vehemently.
"I want to hear his voice at the very least. You don't even have a picture of him."
"No."
You jumped down from her bed, your finger pressed call on his number. Sophie blocked the door while the phone rang. To your luck, Art picked up after the third ring.
"Hey. I thought you wouldn't call."
Your sister squealed, and you had to put a hand over her mouth to keep her quiet.
"Who was that?"
You harshly whispered, asking Sophie to shut up. She enjoyed teasing you so much that she left an opening to the door. You slipped past her, but not before she sneaked the last words in.
"He sounds hot."
"Shush."
You held your phone against your chest as you went back to your room.
"Hey, sorry. That was my sister."
"Ahh. How many siblings do you have?"
"Just the one."
Art sounded sleepy on the other end.
"You sound tired."
"It's– uh … 2 AM here."
You remembered the time difference.
"Oh shit, I'm so sorry. It's only 11 PM where I am right now."
"That's okay. I like hearing your voice."
The honest confession sounded like a dream in the slow drawl of his words. Warmth dusted your cheeks, and at that moment, you wanted to ask Art to be exclusive with you. But it was a question better asked in person, you thought. So you held your tongue.
"I like hearing yours too."
His soft, drowsy sighs caressed your ear, and you couldn't contain your smile.
"But seriously, though, you should go to bed."
Art exhaled again, slow and languid, as if he didn't want the call to end. At last, he said with resignation.
"Alright, I'll talk to you later."
"Later. Good night, Art."
/
The next two days went by so quickly, with even more preparations and decorations for the 25th. Christmas Day finally came, burdened with anticipation. Uncle Eddie arrived with his wife, and Aunt Donna came by herself. The day was long, but it went by smoothly, and you hoped that it would stay like this for the rest of your time here.
Dinner came, everyone settled down, and the twenty questions game began with your uncle leading it.
"How's Stanford?"
"It's good. I'm really enjoying it."
"What is it that you're studying again?"
"English."
Aunt Donna chimed in.
"Oh. Aren't we all speaking English? Why are you taking it?"
"It's so much more than that. I'm learning the history of American literature, how it'll be shaped, and the cultural intersectionality in liberal arts. Uhm, to name a few."
Your dad decided to weigh in with his opinion.
"In other words, fancy school for useless things."
Uncle Eddie picked up from where he left off.
"What do you want to do after school?"
"I want to be a published author."
Your dad sneered.
"Great, another jobless career."
You were taken aback by your dad's downright brash statement, but you maintained the pleasant attitude you'd practiced.
"It'll be hard, but I want to do it. Or give it a try, at least."
"Writing books is not going to pay your bills. When you fail, you're going to run back here and ask me for more money."
"I'm not there yet, so we shall see, huh?"
Your father fixed his angry gaze on you. His nostrils flared, and you knew you had really pissed him off.
"You went to Stanford for one semester, and you already think you can talk back to your own father? You've forgotten your place. You can be ignorant now, but you'll see that I'm right. You'll regret not studying something that's actually useful."
"I'm not talking back to you. I just want to say that it's my life, and I should be able to live it the way I want to. And I'm very grateful that you even gave me the money for rent."
Your mom cut in.
"Grateful? You sure don't show it. And who do you think gave you that life? I did. I gave birth to you. You wouldn't be here arguing with the very people who care about you if it wasn't for me."
You had heard this argument before. Your mother continued.
"The least you can do is listen to me and take my goddamn advice so you won't end up a useless brat."
Sophie's timid voice pulled at the tension.
"Can we just get back–"
But your mother didn't allow her to finish.
"Do you know how much you cost? How much did we spend on your tutors? Private dance and piano lessons so you would have at least some skills for your future self, just for you to skip classes?"
You tried to defend yourself.
"I was 11. I didn't ask for any of it."
Your mom pressed on.
"Everything we've done is for you. But you never showed us gratitude, not even a thank you. And now, you're off to California on the way to a useless job. You will fail, and when you do, don't come to me or your father, for support."
"I will not ask you."
Your quick remark came with the bitterness that could burst at any moment, and you weren't sure if you could contain it.
"I will not take responsibilities for your failure."
At that, you lost it. Your composure, your calmness, your pleasant attitude. All were sucked out of your body, and the only thing left inside was the aggravated animosity. Its rot was spreading through you like wildfire, and you unleashed your anger. Your voice was booming, reverberating through the dining room.
"I'm not asking you to. I've never asked for any of this!"
"Shut up!"
Your dad roared. You barely dodged the gravy boat he threw at you. The ceramic bowl hit your shoulder, splashing what was left of the gravy onto your arm. The sauce wasn't as hot as it was ten minutes ago, only left a dull burn on your skin, soaking through the holes in your sweater. You sat still, not daring to move, as your body became paralyzed by what had just happened. Your sister immediately got up, only to be shut down by your dad.
"Sit down, Sophie! It's what she gets for being disrespectful."
Your mom added.
"Eat your food, Sophie. Let her think about what she's done. She's ruined dinner. She just had to make everything about her."
Aunt Donna patted your hand where the gravy didn't reach, a patronizing tone dripped in her voice.
"We're just very concerned about your future, dear. No need to yell."
Your mom and dad's voices started to blend together as they continued.
"When you crawl back from California because your dream doesn't work out, don't expect a penny from us."
"How is it that you find our life so beneath you?"
You stared at your plate, willing your tears not to fall. The conversation around you continued in apprehension, with everyone ignoring you. Your sister grabbed your hand under the table, giving it a reassuring squeeze. But you didn't have the strength to squeeze back.
You half listened to your surroundings as everything your parents said kept regurgitating like a fire alarm that wouldn't stop screeching long after the fire was gone. Your body went numb, and exhaustion draped over you like a weighted blanket. You only stood up after the adults had left the dining room with their dishes on the table, understandably for you to clean up. Sophie helped you with the task.
"Are you okay? Does it burn?"
You shook your head.
"I'll be fine. It's not that bad."
"It doesn't look fine."
You stopped dead in your movement, and without looking at your sister, you said.
"Sophie. I just want to do the dishes, and then head upstairs. Okay?"
"Okay. I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize. It's not your fault."
"You don't deserve it."
But what if you did? You received exactly what you needed, a punishment that reminded you of the facts: you were worthless, and your future was bleak and aimless. You avoided answering Sophie, instead directing all of your attention to the dirty dishes.
/
Later on that evening, after your aunt and uncle had left, you headed to the living room, where your parents were, with an envelope in hand. You held it out to them.
"Here's my actual gift for you."
Your dad reached for it without a word. He opened and counted the bills. Your mom got up and retrieved a familiar notebook before settling down next to your dad.
"$1,227."
Your mom wrote the number into the accounting book. After setting it aside, she stared at you for a long time before finally breaking the silence.
"You embarrassed us today."
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For … talking back, and disrespecting you in front of aunt Donna and uncle Eddie."
Your mom thought about it for a moment. You hated this feeling. You knew she knew that she had the advantage, and she was making this as painful as possible.
"Hm. Have you learned nothing?"
"No, I have–"
"Do you know remember what I told you in high school? About our method of discipline?"
"Yes, I do."
"Remind me again?"
You swallowed thickly.
"You said– you said you stopped hitting me because … I was old enough to know better."
"Right. But it seems like you haven't learned anything. You still don't know better. You've always done whatever you want, you don't care about anyone, not even your own parents. Who took care of you whenever you were sick, huh? Who worked tirelessly so that you could have a roof over your head, clothes on your body, food in your stomach? And this is how you repay us?"
Your head dipped in shame.
"I'm sorry. I will do better. What can I do to show you that?"
Your dad hadn't said a word, but the disapproving glare he gave you said everything you already knew.
"You always say that you're sorry but nothing has ever changed. Get out of my sight. You're making my eyes itch."
You retreated to your room, and a moment later, Sophie knocked on your door. Her comforting presence was much needed as you drew into yourself on the bed and tried your hardest not to cry.
"I can't stay here."
"I can ask Shelly–"
You shook your head.
"No, they'll know. I can't stay here. I don't want to. I want to leave."
Sophie slid in next to you and pulled you into her arms.
"Okay, okay. I'll take you to the train station tomorrow."
After putting your clothes back into the suitcase, you sat there in your childhood bedroom, not knowing what else to do. You felt hollow, as if your insides were carved and gutted empty, and you were left with only this shell of a body. The skin where the gravy touched didn't throb as much anymore, leaving only a dull pain. Your heart was aching as if someone had taken hold and crushed it in between their palm. You wanted this feeling to go away, to disappear, so you could forget about it, so it would stop hurting. Overcame with the thought of needing some comfort, you didn't stop to think twice as you reached for your phone and dialled Art's number. You needed to hear his voice, to be reminded of what would be waiting for you when the next semester started. The ring went on and on, and when you thought he wouldn't pick up, he did. You sat up straighter.
"Art. Hi. Merry … Christmas."
The background on his end was noisy. You could hear his name being called.
"Merry Christmas."
It seemed like you had called him at the wrong time.
"Are you … are you at a party?"
"It's not really a party, just a get-together at my house. Patrick is here, and we're drinking this thing that we stole from my dad's liquor cabinet …"
He trailed off as a hiccup filled in the gap.
"It's making my head spin a little, I'm not gonna lie."
"Oh. I'm glad you're having fun."
Your voice dropped, and Art caught onto it even in his inebriated state.
"Are you okay? You sound … sad."
You didn't even realize how obvious it was, so you cleared your throat and responded in a more cheerful tone.
"I'm okay."
Art called your name softly.
"You don't sound okay. What's going on?"
"Nothing. I'm sorry for bothering you. Bye."
You hung up the phone. Seconds later, Art's call came by, and you watched as it rang and ended. Then, a text message came through.
I'm sorry, I'm a little tipsy to talk right now. I'll call you tomorrow.
You tucked your phone under the pillow, not wanting to look at it anymore. You tried to clear your head and think about something else. Still, your mind insisted on reliving the mistakes after mistakes you had made today. Exhaustion eventually took over, easing you into a fitful sleep.
/
You left without saying goodbye to your parents the next day. Sophie gave you a ride to the station, and by 5 PM, you were on the train back to Palo Alto. You received a call from Art. Just the sight of his name raised a storm of conflicting emotions in you, but the side that craved his affection overturned the other. You picked up after several rings.
"Hey. Sorry about last night. I didn't know my limit."
"That's okay. I shouldn't have called anyway."
"No, no, I'm glad you called. How was your Christmas?"
"It was fine. Are you preparing to go to the ski resort?"
You kept your voice level, hoping that you didn't give away anything like you did last night.
"Yep. We're heading there tomorrow."
The crackle of the announcement system broke out over your head, notifying you of your final stop. You were about to wish him a good trip, but Art spoke before you could get it out.
"Wait, where are you right now?"
You couldn't bring yourself to answer, but Art was determined to get it from you.
"Are you going back to Stanford?"
"Sorry, I have to go."
You ended the call. Almost immediately, Art's name appeared on the screen. You declined. Seconds later, he sent you a text.
Pick up. Please.
After shutting down his third call, you turned off your device. You went back to your apartment. It was empty. Your roommates wouldn't be here until school started, so you'd have the whole place to yourself. You felt an immense relief as you finally got to be alone, and you would be for at least another week. You didn't bother unpacking; instead, you headed for your room. After changing into something more comfortable, you crawled under the cover and pulled it to cover your head. Only then you allowed yourself to cry until you couldn't anymore, until the sobs that came out of you were reduced to soundless whimpers. Sleep came easier this time.

Spider-Girl bitten more than she could chew in the field ft Natasha Romanoff
The sun dipped below the skyline of New York City, casting long shadows across the bustling streets. Y/N Parker, twin sister to the city's famed superhero Spider-Man, found a rare moment of peace on a quiet rooftop. The gentle breeze played with her hair as she gazed at the city below. Tonight, for once, it seemed like the city was at peace.
Little did she know that tranquillity was a fleeting concept in a superhero's life.
Without warning, the air trembled with a deafening crash. Y/N's head snapped towards the source of the sound. Smoke billowed in the distance, a stark contrast to the golden hues of the setting sun. Her instincts kicked in, and Spider-Girl mode was on. She swung from building to building, closing the distance to the chaos.
As Y/N arrived at the scene, the source of the disturbance became apparent... a building, once standing tall and proud, now crumbled like a house of cards. Panic and fear painted the faces of those trapped beneath the debris. Y/N's heart raced as she assessed the situation, her thoughts flashing to the countless training sessions with her brother.
She had to act fast.
The first responders were on their way, but every second counted. Y/N sprang into action, using her enhanced strength to lift beams and clear paths. The mask hid her expressions, but the grim determination was evident in every movement. Her limbs ached, but she pushed through the pain. People needed her.
Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, was returning from a mission abroad, completely unaware of the chaos unfolding in her city. Her mind was still focused on the shadows of her past, on the faces she couldn't erase. But as she neared New York, a strange feeling crept over her, a premonition that something was wrong.
Y/N's efforts were tireless. She saved lives, pulling people from the wreckage, offering words of reassurance when her own strength wavered. As the last survivor was pulled to safety, a sudden weakness swept over her. Fatigue settled in, and the pain she'd been suppressing surged to the forefront.
Just as her legs threatened to give way, a familiar voice cut through the chaos.
Natasha - Dorogoy! (дорогой = my dear)
Natasha Romanoff, clad in her signature black suit, stood at the edge of the disaster zone. Her eyes widened at the sight of her non-official daughter, battered and bruised, yet still standing.
Without a word, Natasha rushed forward. Y/N's world spun, and she stumbled into Natasha's waiting arms. The weight of her injuries became too much, and the edges of her vision blurred.
Natasha held her, a mix of panic and concern etched across her features. This was the Black Widow, a woman who had faced gods and monsters without flinching, now struck dumb by the sight of a wounded girl.
Natasha - Sweetheart, talk to me.
The Black Widow's voice cut through the chaos as she stroked the younger girl's cheek. Y/N managed a weak smile beneath her mask.
Y/N - Just... had a busy day at the office.
As the girl joked even if her strength was failing, Natasha could only see how much influence Tony had on the kid.
Natasha's eyes narrowed with worry as she took in the extent of Y/N's injuries. It was a rare sight, the stoic Black Widow, momentarily shaken.
Natasha - Come on, honey. Let's get you home.
Natasha said with her tone a strange mix of command and softness.
With that, Natasha scooped Y/N into her arms, carrying her away from the disaster site. The Black Widow moved with a grace that misrepresented her strength, navigating the city's rooftops with ease. Y/N rested against Natasha's shoulder, the pain momentarily forgotten in the safety of those familiar arms.
As they arrived at the Parker's apartment, which was currently empty, Natasha gently laid her down on the couch. Y/N's breathing was laboured, but Natasha's gaze never wavered.
Y/N - I've had worse...
Insisted the teenager weakly, trying to downplay her injuries.
Natasha, however, wasn't buying it. With a gentle touch, she unmasked Y/N, revealing a face that mirrored both vulnerability and resilience. Natasha's fingers traced the edges of the bruises, her eyes reflecting an unspoken worry.
Natasha - You've done enough for today, princess. You scared me.
The older woman admitted with a rare vulnerability in her voice.
Y/N managed a weak laugh.
Y/N - Me? Scare the great Black Widow? I'm really sorry but I can't abandon my duties, Nat. People need help out there.
Natasha shot her a mock glare before her expression softened.
Natasha - And who's going to help you if you push yourself to the brink? You're family, Y/N. You're not allowed to scare me like this.
Y/N's response was lost in a stifled groan as Natasha began tending to her injuries. Natasha's hands moved with a skill born of years of combat, yet there was an uncharacteristic gentleness in her touch. Y/N winced occasionally, but Natasha's soothing words and careful ministrations alleviated the pain.
As Natasha worked, her thoughts wandered to the times when Y/N was just a skinny 13-year-old, brimming with determination but lacking experience. She remembered the day she found Y/N training tirelessly in the Avengers' compound, a self-imposed regimen to keep up with her brother, Peter. Natasha had watched silently, the seeds of a unique bond planted that day.
Natasha - Now, promise me you'll take it easy. No more pushing yourself like this. *raises eyebrow*
Y/N, who was now propped up on the couch, nodded, her eyes reflecting gratitude mixed with exhaustion. Natasha remained vigilant, keeping a watchful eye on Y/N's vital signs.
The evening light bathed the room in a warm glow as Natasha sat beside Y/N, a silent sentinel in the quiet apartment. The city's chaotic symphony had dimmed to a distant murmur, allowing a rare moment of stillness. Natasha's mind, usually a labyrinth of strategies and memories, now focused solely on the girl beside her.
Y/N shifted, discomfort etched on her face. Natasha immediately tensed, ready to intervene, but Y/N's groan turned into a chuckle.
Y/N - You know... You're way better at this mom thing than I expected.
A hint of a smile touched Natasha's lips.
Natasha - I've had some practice.
She admitted as her eyes softened.
As the night deepened, Natasha found herself in a role she never imagined: comforting, caring, and, above all, worrying. The Black Widow, a figure feared by enemies and respected by allies, was navigating unfamiliar territory.
Y/N's breaths evened out, signalling the arrival of sleep's healing embrace. Natasha watched her, a mix of emotions playing across her features as she draped a blanket over Y/N, a protective gesture that went beyond the physical. As the city outside hummed with life, Natasha settled into a vigil by Y/N's side, embracing the unfamiliar warmth that came with a realization. In that moment, the Black Widow wasn't a superhero, she was a mother, fiercely protective of her own daughter.

My bestiest bestie recommended you and I have a BIG idea. I've always thought about a fic where y/n (any gender) moved into this creepy-ish home. After awhile of being there, there had been strange movements and noises and etc. Often the ghost of the house (timothee chalamet) visits only when they're asleep to either caress their hair or cheek because timothee is afraid to show himself to them; especially from fear of scaring them. He is a very beautiful ghost too. When the reader falls in love with timothee, they can only feel him. The reader is the only person that can physically touch him because of how strong their love is. (I might be a bit cheesy).
and the best part of this story is that when the reader dies in the future — the two lovers can and will always be happily together.
A very fluffy and sweet story! With some slight angst.
This is such a cute idea!! I love a little angst-y, cheesy story so I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. Love your and your besties blog as well!!
Hauntingly Yours.
Information and warnings — Gender neutral reader, gender never specified, Ghost Timothée, old hollywood Timothée, slow burn, very, very long fic.., reader death, Timothée doesn’t know what technology is, hurt/comfort, lover boy Timmy, fluffy angst.
You had recently moved into your new house, an old, southern gothic home from the early ‘20s.
When your friends helped you move, they joked that it was haunted. The rickety house was a bit beat down, chipped paint, leaky faucets and creaky floors galore, but it had good bone structure and charm that you couldn’t pass up.
You enjoyed the aesthetic of the house, and knew the more deserted area it was in would have a positive effect on your writing.
You had been in a slump, your book was 30 pages behind the deadline and your editor was livid. You believed if you were to move away from the loud city, the bustling streets and lit up buildings you could connect with the words and let them flow onto the pages.
It was about a week into settling in, and you were starting to believe your friends. In the dead of the night the floors would creek, and sinks would turn on randomly. When you would write, you felt a cold air touch your neck, and an almost humming sound would whisper in your ears.
You had finally had enough a few nights ago. You were about to lay down for a late sleep, when a loud crash came from the kitchen. You ran quickly to the room, finding a mug your mother had gifted you from your last apartment completely shattered on the floor.
After sweeping up the remaining pieces, you grabbed your laptop, getting to the bottom of this.
You began researching the area and house, and your jaw hung open as you found out the history of your home.
In the late 1930’s, a beautiful star was on the rise. Timothée Chalamet was an actor like no other, he was gorgeous, talented, and had incredible range.
He lived in a gorgeous home, it was in the southern part of the state, off the grid and away from the busy city he desperately needed to get out from.
It seemed as everyone loved him, except the man who took his life.
One night, as Timothée was alone in bedroom, he was shot dead. The shooter was later identified as his costar in his upcoming film.
As you read on, you became increasingly aware that you lived in an old hollywoods stars death bed.
What you weren’t aware of was he knew you lived here too.
Timothée had been alone for all these years, he had felt so alone. He would roam the hallways pacing back and forth for hours before returning back to the bed in which he had died in.
Until you came along.
You were beautiful, and so talented. He loved just standing in the doorway and watching your fingers tap on your weird bright box late at night, he didn’t quite know what it was but he enjoyed reading the words that popped up on it.
Timothée was terrified of letting you see him, so he’d only come into the room late at night, while you were sleeping. He’d softly caress your cheek or pet your hair, watching as your chest moved up and down in your slumber.
You couldn’t sleep, you were too horrified by the idea of sleeping in a deadman’s house, but mostly you were pissed that your real estate agent hadn’t told you about the haunted backstory.
As the late hour rolled around, Timothée had walked into your room, shocked to see you awake. He tipped toed around you too see what was on your light box, as he saw his passing plastered all over it.
His phantom heart sank. Timothée never wanted you to find out about him, he knew you’d be scared and leave him alone once again.
You felt the energy shift, a shiver ran down your spine and you decided enough was enough. You grabbed your phone and began to dial the number of your real estate agent, trying to find out how badly your pockets would be broke if you canceled your contract early.
That was until your phone was flung out of your hands, cracking the screen a bit.
“Hello?! Who’s there!?” You called out with wide eyes, trying to pretend you weren’t terrified in your own home.
A soft whisper rang through your ears, and you felt your heart skip a beat. You knew you weren’t alone.
You ripped a piece of paper off and drew a “yes, no” sign with two pens on top of eachother like the game you learned back in elementary school. This was the only way you knew how to talk to the other side. You sat on the dreaded bed, putting the paper in the middle of the mattress.
A weight shifted on the end of the bed, you knew this was Timothée, he was sitting with you.
“Is there someone here with me?” You asked out, hugging yourself for a sense of security.
Timothée picked up the pen and put it on the “Yes” part of the sign, watching you with tears in his eyes as he watched the utter sense of horror fill you. He was scaring you, something he wanted less than anything in the world.
“Are you the actor who died here back in the ‘30s?” You muttered out, watching as the pen once again went to the “Yes.”
“Are you able to speak to me?” Another question, Timothée swallowed thickly as he began to speak, believing you wouldn’t hear him.
“I’m sorry to scare you mon amour..” A voice softly whispered out.
You jumped, falling off the bed and panting profusely. Timothée was equally shocked, his voice had never been heard before, and was utterly confused by your abilities.
“I can hear you.. I’m going fucking insane. I’m actually insane, oh my God.” You tugged on your skin, pulled on your hair and looked around like a madman, truly believing you were either asleep or finally losing your mind.
“You’re not insane, Dollface. I’m right here.” The voice called out, it had that old hollywood transatlantic accent mixed with a french one, and it had you.. swooning. Impossible, you’re not weak in the knees for a ghost.. right?
Timothée made your way towards you, and sat by you on the ground, “No one has ever heard me before, Mon Cherie. I’m so alone, all I do is roam the hallways and watch you work, I’m overwhelmed with desire when I see you.” His voice filled the room, and you calmed down slowly but surely.
As you guys continued talking, you found yourself relating more and more to him. He was a kind soul, who didn’t deserve anything he had went through. When he talked about his death, you felt water drop on your knee, and you knew he was crying. You comforted him, telling him that he was okay now and how nothing could hurt him anymore.
Throughout the conversations, you found yourself falling harder and harder into a love for him. He was incredibly talented, smart, and insanely witty. You knew if anyone walked in, they’d think you were absolutely mad, but funnily enough, you had never felt so grounded and happy.
“If you were alive when I was, I bet we would’ve been the best of lovers, Sweet Pie. We could’ve rocked Hollywoods world!” Timothée laughed, you chuckled with your head hanging low, you desperately wished it was true. You wished you could’ve loved him back then, maybe he never would’ve met his terrible fate and you could’ve grown old together. You both could’ve lived in this house, and he could’ve reached the level of stardom that he had deserved.
Soon when you lifted your head back up, complete shock struck you as you were now face to face with the man you had been speaking to all night.
He looked straight out of a black and white movie, he had a sharp nose, heavy lashes, perfectly set curls, and soft freckles that kissed his entire face.
You screamed, throwing your hands on your mouth.
“What?! What’s wrong?!” Timothée exclaimed, his eyes were wide and he grabbed your arm.
“I can.. You! I can see you?! I can FEEL you?!” You had explained in complete shock, locking eyes with him, and staring at his large hand on your arm.
Timothée was overjoyed that you could finally be with him, but he quickly feared that you would be scared of him, more than you were before.
“You’re.. beautiful, Timothée.” You said with a sigh, moving closer to him and gently running a thumb across his cheek. “Much more beautiful than the pictures, I didn’t think you could get prettier.” You giggled, bringing him into a tight embrace.
Timothée hadn’t felt a hug in decades, he began to sob, shaking like a leaf as he held you close. “I’ve never wanted anything more than to be seen.” He said through intense tears, and you shushed him quietly, kissing the top of his head and wiping his tears.
“I see you, Angel.” You began to cry with him, and the two of you fell asleep holding each other.
The days went on and you were falling for him more and more, since you could see and feel him now, you did everything together. You taught him what a laptop was, and you showed him new movies and explained how CGI was a part of every film now. He thought it was tacky, and said that hollywood had declined since his time and you laughed with agreement.
It had been about a month since you first met Timothée, and you were head over heels for him. Today was different than the others, because you decided you were going to tell him how you loved him. You cooked the two of you breakfast, and held his hand over the table as you ate with him.
“May I tell you something, dear?” You muttered, rubbing your thumb against his boney knuckles, holding eye contact with him as he had a bit of syrup on the corner of his mouth. He was a complete goof, and you loved him for it, he deserved to know that.
“Of course, darling, what is it?” He asked sweetly, smiling widely.
“I, well, I love you.” You exclaimed, you looked down as you said it, feeling like a fool.
“Oh, Mon Cherie.” Timothée began to cry, he was a very emotional man, and you loved that about him.
He left his seat and picked you up, swinging you around, “I love you more than you know!” His voice cried out.
For the rest of the day, you were clung to his side, you spent the entire afternoon kissing and holding him tightly. You loved him, he loved you and that’s all you needed. When the day had come to a close, you needed a shower. You broke apart from Timothée and left him with a peck on the lips.
You had gotten a towel, and began to undress, jumping into the shower. Everything was normal, you shampooed your hair, hummed songs and went to grab your soap. It fell out of your hands, and with closed eyes you went to grab it, in a terrible accident you slipped on the bar of soap. You screamed and slammed your head on the faucet insanely hard. For a moment you heard Timothée rushing into the room, and the next moment you heard and felt nothing.
You woke up to Timothée crying as he held you close, you were confused as you heard ambulances outside your home and men rushing in your direction. It felt like you were seeing with your eyes closed, and Timothée was whispering comforting nothings into your ears.
It had finally clicked for you, you had passed away due to the hit to your head. You were terrified. You began to scream and cry but your body wasn’t moving, you wanted to yell that you were alive and for them to stop wrapping your body, but Timothée held you down and told you that there was nothing you could do.
Months later your friends and family had a funeral for you, you stayed back, in that southern home.
Every morning you woke up to Timothée in your shared bed, and every night you’d eat dinner, and go to bed with him. You felt at peace, you knew that you and him would be in love forever, and you knew that nothing could tear you apart.
Your souls were intertwined in that home, till the end of time.

Hey guys, it's Emily. Yep, been awhile. If you look at this pic and compare to some past ones of me you'll notice I've lost some weight (except in my tits). I don't know if you think I look better at this weight on my more usual, more curvy self and maybe I do, but I don't FEEL better. I'll be honest, all these changes for Studio M (and I'll pile on - Marti, write the damn thing! 🤗😘) had me really, really concerned. I mean, these ladies are my family and I felt it falling apart; besides, I was afraid of being left behind by Marti and the other girls leaving but also didn't want to leave my friends and lovers here at Studio M. It was Roxy who brought me the news: PACK UP, JOKESTER, YOU'RE MOVING TO THE MOUNTAINS! And so I have. And though I probably get 4th billing, being 4th behind Marti, Mirren, and Maria is nothing to be embarrassed about! I'm settled up in these hills now and am trying to put some of my old weight back on - maybe some will go to my boobs?!
And now I have to give Maria a bit of a hard time for leaving some very important people off her list of those who have moved or will move to the Appalachians with us. First there's Daphne and Wendy: who can have a film studio without makeup and wardrobe, right? And then there's Dana: from managing the full Studio M staff as a Site Director, she was still very happy to move with Marti; the two helped make each other and it would be stupid from a business standpoint to separate them. Dana is still managing the day to day busy of the Mountain Studio (as we call it). And, of course, Dana wasn't leaving without her wife, Gail. Some of you may recall that Gail is second only to Marti in boobs size (she's now an N cup) and looks nearly as big because she's such a small woman (married to 6/1½" Dana). However, Gail only did one photo or video session a month because her love is her garden and our home. Gardening will be different up here compared to Florida, but her love for Dana exceeds anything else. Besides, she's thinking she might do more modeling and maybe even show up here. You can't miss her: the biggest damn areolas any of us have ever seen.
As for those left behind, I'll miss Willow the most, but I've been assured that she'll be the next to come up once things have settled and are growing. Vera is going more and more to mainstream modeling with her fabulous legs. July is now the manager in charge of all makeup and wardrobe for Studio M. Becca has taken Gail's place running the homestead. Zin is a major model with the sudio and doesn't want to leave her now very happy mother, Becca. Don't be surprised if Chelsea comes up here soon to join Mirren to give us her voluptuous and hung trans body to compliment Mirren's cross dressing and incredible cock. Risa will continue to be the straight porn star she is for Studio M. Mandy will be the second girl we'll poach from Studio M after Willow. And last, of course, Michelle will stay with her now 400+ men: I think that's a lifetime commitment, and she LOVES it. (About the men we've introduced here; I'll let someone else write about their status.)
So here I am, a mountain woman. I've never lived anywhere but Florida. It's gonna be a change but, WTF, to live with Marti and the rest is worth way more than some homesickness. Now that I know I'm part of this family still, I've actually gained a few pounds. Not sure what I'll look like the next time I post.
Love you guys who keep following us through the changes - and all you new ones who have come to stay awhile.
Emily

Shopping Spree, Hangout Dreams AU Headcannons: Part Three | Daryl Dixon x Fem!Reader
Word count: 861.
A/n: So I've made it a habit recently to post a fic every one-two days, but I was extremely busy today, so I didn't have time to start working on any of my other requests. I still wanted to post something, though, so here's a part three to my personal headcannons for the SSHD AU that nobody asked for. This is mostly set in the future but before the outbreak. I hope y'all like these! If you wanna see more, let me know.
➳༻❀✿❀༺➳
★ After graduating high school, you went to college to get a degree in teaching.
★ Daryl didn't go to college, however. He felt like more school was unnecessary for him, but he encouraged you to do it since he knew you wanted to become a teacher.
★ Daryl managed to land a job as an apprentice of sorts to a mechanic and got a second job as a bouncer after a while, and used some (most of it but he didn't tell you that) of the money to help pay for your tuition and textbooks.
★ You had your suspicions about it, and got a job of your own to help pay for everything. However, Daryl shot down any talks of you getting a second job, claiming that one job was already hard enough added on top of college.
★ The two of you rented a crappy, worn down apartment until you graduated and landed a full-time teaching job at a kindergarten near Atlanta, and you and Daryl finally managed to upgrade to a decent apartment.
★ Once the two of you had settled down and had gotten hitched at the courthouse, you invited your mother over for a housewarming of sorts.
★ She definitely tore into you both for eloping, but in the end, she was ultimately happy for the two of you.
★ She started teasingly calling you Mrs Dixon at every opportunity, and playfully threatening Daryl that if he ever broke your heart, she'd kill him.
★ She was a decade too late for that talk, however, so Daryl paid it no mind whatsoever.
★ Your mom was practically your best friend, so when she died three years later due to cancer, you were devastated.
★ You regretted not having a proper wedding like your mom had wanted you to have, but Daryl assured you that she didn't hate you for it.
★ Daryl was also heartbroken. He couldn't believe that the sweet woman who had basically taken him in was dead.
★ It was a hard couple of months after that, but Daryl refrained from falling into old habits and distancing himself to deal with his emotions alone. He reminded himself that you were a team and that you needed him more than ever at that moment. He couldn't pull away at a time like that.
★ Things got better with time. With the both of you taking the time to properly grieve and mourn, it got easier. The sadness when you thought of her death never fully vanquished, but with time, you were feeling better, visiting her grave whenever you had the chance.
★ When you and Daryl moved from the trailer park all those years ago, he didn't tell anyone from his family where he was going.
★ He didn't even tell his father. He just packed his bags with his things and silently disappeared from the trailer.
★ Merle didn't know about it, either. Daryl loved his brother but he knew what a dick he was and what he involved himself in, and he didn't want that in his new life with you. He wanted to start fresh, wipe the slate clean.
★ It was a couple of months before the outbreak when you and Daryl saw Merle again. You were walking around, doing grocery shopping, when you bumped into him.
★ Merle was immensely surprised when he noted the wedding rings on both of your fingers, and demanded to know why he wasn't invited to the wedding.
★ However, he guessed he shouldn't have been surprised when Daryl bitterly spat out that there wasn't a wedding and that you eloped. If he knew anything about Daryl, it's that he doesn't do big, fancy events.
★ About a month before the outbreak, you started feeling nauseous and more tired than usual. A total of three pregnancy tests confirmed that the reason for that wasn't because you were ill, but because you had a life growing inside of you.
★ Daryl was surprised to find out you were pregnant. Neither of you planned the pregnancy and it was extremely unexpected.
★ However, you both decided to keep the baby.
★ Daryl was scared of what parenthood had in store for him. He didn't want to end up like his father or be even worse than him.
★ It took for you to gently talk him through his fears for him to start calming down.
★ After he was calmed down, he allowed himself to feel happy. The two of you were in a stable environment with enough money between the both of you to accommodate a baby, so he felt himself relax.
★ That didn't last long, because soon the two of you would hear about the dead rising and see the news reports that warn you to evacuate immediately.

Estrella | RotB Mirage x f!human reader | NSFW 18+
Word count: 2600+
Warnings: Smut ( oral and spike penatration ), robot on human, language, some angst and mentions of abuse. NSFW 18+.
Notes: I've really been wanting to do a story for Mirage for so long. Thanks @lonetile for sending in your request. Hope you enjoy the read and sorry for the delay. Estrella is spanish for star, just thought I'd point that out.
Understand Mirage is already smallish for a robot but decided for him to use mass displacement with reader for this story.
Who would've thought in an attempt to escape your shitty life you would end up falling from your low level apartment level window and would end up falling into the lift of a giant alien robot?
You couldn't take it anymore, the yelling, the abuse, you were losing your mind within the people who were meant to be your family and yet treated you worse than a dog.
In an attempt to escape you somehow get thrown into the new discovery of robots, despite just how hurt you ended up, the blue and silver guy had a much more tender face than anyone you've met before. As crazy as it sounds, you felt safe with him.
Your neighbour, Noah, was in on this secret as well and pretended to own the flash car when it was really an alien robot. Sure, why not? Both Noah and who's name you discover is Mirage both escort you to a hospital where you're treated before being given the all clear. All you were going to do was call someone you knew, not family, but you knew you would be safe with them if you don't piss them off.
Hanging out with a gang wasn't your smartest move but you are limited with options. Although you're surprised to find Mirage waiting for you. Noah has offered you to stay with him and go home to set up a spot for you to sleep. Might be close to your old home but at least they couldn't hurt you anymore.
You settled with Noah and his alien robot friend. Very normal.
Estrella. That's what Mirage keeps calling you. You try to tell him that's not your name but he only responds with a casual 'I know'. A nickname perhaps, but you've never been given a kind nickname before, so you weren't fully sure how to react or feel about it. He always looks out for you, making sure you are well and drives you to wherever you want. At first it felt like your own personal bodyguard, which quickly grew into a friend, and before you knew it you were gaining stronger feelings for Mirage. Probably not wise you thought to yourself.
There's no way you'll confess this to Mirage, convinced he'll think you're weird and that's it, friendship broken. It became harder though the more time you spent with him, how affectionate he was and funny, everything about him was the perfect boyfriend you think to yourself.
But that won't ever happen.
Your thoughts are interrupted by Mirage's voice echoing through the radio as he drives. "Estrella? This handsome guy is talking to you, and you're ignoring him and it kind of hurts?" Mirage sings along with a hint of playfulness.
"Shit. Sorry, Mirage. What were you saying?" You give a sympathetic smile as he now has your full attention.
"Well, firstly, what made you so distracted to not hear me? There better not be anyone more important in your life." More teasing. He always has such a strong effect on you.
"Just thinking about everything, my life before and how I ended up here, with the most badass robot ever." You nudge back through your words.
"Now that's more like it!" Mirage ends up giving a loud toot from his horn making you giggle faintly. "Now, as I was saying, Noah is busy with other things and I'm rather lonely, so I'm taking my favourite lady somewhere nice. Care to give this handsome guy some attention?"
His words always make you warm and fuzzy, an effect no one else has ever made you feel better, and it was so addictive. You craved more.
"You have my full attention now, Mirage. That sounds amazing. Where are we going?" You can't help but feel like he was taking you on a date. You can only imagine that, because surely it wasn't.
"It's a surprise." The rev from his engine sounds like a purr.
"I can't wait."
The drive was peaceful, even more with the soft jazz blues he was playing over the radio for you, the time with him is just what you needed and wanted. Upon arrival he asks you to close your eyes and you do. You hear him transform before gently guiding you forward. The salty smell hits your senses along with the silky feel of sand beneath your toes under your sandals.
"The beach." You give a broad smile while keeping your eyes closed.
"Oh what gave that away? I think you took a peek." He gives a sound like a pout.
"Nah ah. How did you know I love the beach?" You question curiously.
"There's a lot I know about you, y/n, my lovely estrella. Alright, open those beautiful eyes."
You do that. The beach, just as you knew, but you still give a giddy excited jump. You really do love the beach. There's a calming peacefulness in the air whenever you come to the spot, though this spot was new to the locations you already knew. He seemed to read this from you.
"This is our own private spot, no one ever comes here."
"Oh? Are we getting up to mischief?"
"So much mischief. But I have something else for you."
"Mirage, you didn't have to go through the trouble." However you did feel very spoilt.
"It was so troublesome, and I wanted our night to be perfect."
You did wonder what the guy was thinking. He was so fond of you and did so much just to try and keep you happy. Do friends just do that? Yeah, they could. Another gasp leaves you when you see what he has made.
A small sheltered spot just big enough for him, though he was already small for his size, with fairy lights and soft plush blankets covering a large mat above the sand. Your own little cubby house.
"This is incredible! I could just kiss you!" You burst out suddenly causing you to shrink down and try to hide your flushed cheeks. His answer caught her by surprise.
"Oh I wouldn't object to that." Mirage smiles before crawling under the cubby and sitting down with his legs stretched out, waiting for you to join him.
Standing there for a bit you let this process through your mind before giving a nervous smile and following in to sit beside him on the blankets.
"This...this is beautiful, thank you." You find your voice before looking at him. However, you are very surprised to find Mirage was now your size, maybe a little bigger, but human size. "Holy shit."
"You like? All for you, estrella." Mirage looks like a happy child.
"Me? I'm not sure what you mean..." Deep down though, you sort of had a growing feeling about all this tonight.
"Y/n, I really like you." The confession from him was so cute, and almost looks like he's blushing. "-
The silence between them hits, and only the sounds from the ocean can be heard while it adds the calmness between you both. Nibbling your bottom lip a little you ponder over your thoughts and go with what your heart was screaming.
"I would appreciate it, if you would kiss me right now.”
The second the words left you, you feel the warm metal of his servo against your cheek and turn your head to face him. He's so beautiful, like a dazzling star, though he might disagree and say you're the dazzling star.
He leans closer and much to your surprise his lips are warm against your own, slowly moving into your own as you kiss him back with a little hunger. It's you that deepens it as you gently push your tongue between his lips to coil with his own, an odd sweetness hitting your taste buds. Mirage let out a soft sound that might've been a moan but you're not very sure, although you are sure that he likes what you're doing because both his servos are holding you against your waist and roaming up and down your sides.
You find yourself laying on your back with him on top of you but keeping his weight off. Even though he was downsized, he didn't want to hurt you with his weight. Once the kiss breaks it gives you a chance to take a breath and gaze up at him lovingly, his smile shining down on you.
"So, was this a date?" You ask through a whisper curiously.
"Maybe..." Mirage was always so smooth, the dork.
"Well, care to make this the best fucking date ever?"
Mirage doesn't answer with words, but he does through his kisses and touches against you, laying you against against the blush blanket while looming over you. You don't care what others might think. Whatever happens tonight you hoped will happen again, and again, forever and ever.
It's only your clothes that need removing. Mirage tugs at the fabric, curious and wondering just how to get them off without ripping them, so you decide to help and toss them aside. You didn't think you could undress so fast.
"Oh sweet Mami." Mirage lets out a steamy vent as his optics gently rank across your perfect exposed body. He leans over and you watch as his glossa darks out, flickering across your perk nipple making your back arch and a silent gasp to leave you. "Does that feel nice?"
"Y-yeah, very." You manage to answer, voice shaky and full of lust.
Mirage lets out a satisfied hum that vibrates against your skin before he closes his mouth over your nipple and sucks, glossa swirling around the sensitive area. Letting out a moan you hand grip into the metal plating of his shoulders for leverage, toes curling into the blankets as the pooling arousal boils through your body. You're moist between your legs already, but honestly you've been like this since the car ride. It's just how he made you feel, you couldn't help yourself.
"Mirage, holy shit!" Your curses make him smirk against your nipple, his free servo massaging across your other round breast. Never did you imagine a robot to feel so warm and tender. Mirage is able to prove that theory without struggle.
"Y/n, I've always wanted to taste you, can I?" Mirage asks against your skin, optics looking over your breasts and assking a soft baby blue glow against your skin.
"Sure..." Your breath hitches when he suddenly moves down and you feel his heated vents against your thighs.
It happens so fast, and before you know it you feel his thick glossa dive into your core. You cry out, not caring who might hear, and hands grip at his helm as you start to rock yourself against his face, moaning lowly as your legs shake through the burning arousal that continues to build.
His glossa coils against your inner walls and lets out a moan that pulls from your bud up through your quivering body. If he kept doing that, you knew you'd cum very quickly, and you didn't want that just yet. So, you held out as best you could, riding through the burning pleasure he delivers.
Just when you thought you were unable to hold out for too much longer, he stops, causing you to whimper out like a wounded puppy.
"Oh don't worry my pretty estrella, I have something else better for you." He's purring, at least that's what it sounds like to you. He climbs like a snake up over you again, pressing himself between your legs and you hear metal plating shifting. The next you feel is something long, warm and pulsing sliding up against your thigh.
Looking down between you both you're enthralled by the beauty he possessed. You've never seen anything like it before. His length pulse lively, small ridges running along the base and what looks like veins brightly blue coloured made him look incredible. He notices your reaction and giggle softly. "Like what you see?"
"It's beautiful." You say through a heated breath before meeting his optics. "You're beautiful."
"Naw, thank you, but you're more beautiful darling." He gently pressed his tip against you, keeping his stare on your face. Shifting forward he enters you, slowly filling inch by inch and giving you a short time to adjust.
Despite being human size, he was still quite thick as you feel yourself being stretched more than you've ever felt before. It's not your first time, though you wished it was, just so you could've given yourself to Mirage. Opening your legs you give him as much space as possible, watching him move further forward above you before feeling him flushed right up against you. You can feel everything, every pulse and hear every sound coming from him as he keeps still to savour you.
"Oh y/n, so perfect, tight, feels nice." Mirage vents out before lowering himself closer and sharing a kiss with you, slowly withdrawing a little and thrusting back in, setting a slow and gentle pace.
Your head tilts back against the blankets with your neck stretched out, giving him the invitation to kiss and softly nip at the soft skin against your neck as he rolls his hips against you over again. Moving your hands around you place them behind his neck, still moaning as you feel yourself being filled gently over again.
Each ridge tugs at your inner walls as does every pulse shakes through, causing you to clench around him more and tighten your thighs.
"Mirage...oh fuck! You feel so good....fuck!" You chant over again.
"Oh primus, beautiful estrella, I've got you, Mirage has you always." He moans before he starts to pick up his speed, causing you to let out another lingering moan, gasping at each firm thrust he delivers.
This won't last long, you already knew this, because he's just so damn perfect and you are already worked up from before. Your thighs tighten around his waist, fingers digging into his soft metal feeling each thrust and hearing the clapping of his armour hitting against you over again, but it only added to the boiling arousal that's about to overflow any second.
"M-mirage...Mirage!" You chant his name before your body stiffens and you tighten around his thrusting spike buried deep in you, cumming hard and riding out the flooded arousal spilled from you.
Mirage is chanting himself, words you don't understand, and you guess are words from his language which you find quite alluring in your tired and blurry state. His optics shutter close and he's rutting against you, hard, before stilling and letting out a choked yelp that you find kind of cute.
Feeling his sticky warmness filling your core you feel every throb from his spike as he slowly pulls out from you, every bump tugging gently before he is gone, and you feel pretty empty without him. Though you do feel what he left behind pooling in your belly and that's a beautiful satisfaction.
He rolls and gently holds you close against him, planting kisses against your skin as his servos roam softly across your backside.
"I think destiny wants us to be together, and you should never argue with destiny.”
"You know what? I agree with that." There's no way you wanted to refuse this moment with him, or a chance to be his.
"If you be my star, I'll be your sky." Mirage whispers fondly, pressing his face gently into your neck while you caress his warm metal cheek plating under your hand.
"I'll be your star." You declare back softly, loving the idea.
"My beautiful estrella."

warnings: swearing, angst, mentions of drinking
author's note: ugh i'm sorry this took longer than other chapters, i've had writer's block and i went out of town for a bit
The air was heavy with the sweet scent of freshly cut grass, mingling with the faint aroma of expensive cologne and cigar smoke. The soft thud of golf clubs hitting balls echoed across the pristine lawns of the country club, a testament to the wealth and leisure of its members. Rafe and Topper stood side by side near the practice green, their faces tense with anticipation. Topper's brow furrowed in disbelief as he processed Rafe's shocking revelation.
"You're kidding me, right?" Topper's voice carried a note of incredulity as he turned to face Rafe, his eyes widening in surprise.
Rafe shook his head, a grim expression settling over his features. "I wish I was," he replied, his tone heavy with resignation. "She's back, Topper. Y/N's back."
Topper let out a low whistle, running a hand through his hair in disbelief. "Damn, man. And here I thought life was starting to get boring."
Rafe shot him a withering look, unamused by his friend's attempt at humor. "This is serious, Topper. She's with JJ now."
Topper's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "JJ? Seriously?" He shook his head in disbelief. "Man, things just keep getting more complicated around here."
Rafe nodded grimly, his jaw clenched as he contemplated the implications of your return. The tension between them was palpable, a silent acknowledgment of the turmoil brewing beneath the surface.
Rafe's voice carried a mix of astonishment and contempt, his words punctuated by a sharp exhale. "I can't believe this. Maybank? I thought she'd have some semblance of standards."
Topper leaned back in his chair, a sly grin playing at the corners of his lips as he observed Rafe's reaction. "Come on, Rafe," he drawled, his voice laced with amusement. "You can't be that shocked. Her and Maybank were pretty close, even when you two were together."
Rafe's grip tightened around his glass, the knuckles turning white as he fought to keep his composure. He shot a warning glare at Topper, his eyes flashing with a mixture of anger and hurt. "Doesn't matter," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "She's back now, and I'll make sure she remembers why she left in the first place."
Topper's face fell into an amused smirk, his eyes gleaming with curiosity as he leaned forward, genuinely interested in Rafe's plan. "And how do you plan on doing that?" he asked, his voice laced with anticipation and a hint of mischief.
Rafe leaned back, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as he contemplated his plan. "I'm gonna rip them apart," he declared, his voice low and full of conviction. "Make them realize they don't belong together. And then, when she's finally free, she'll come running back to me."
Topper's eyebrows shot up in surprise, a mixture of awe and concern crossing his features. "That's a bold move, Rafe," he remarked, shaking his head slightly. "But I like it." Rafe's grin widened, a glint of determination shining in his eyes as he plotted his next move, ready to do whatever it takes to win you back.
Rafe's voice dripped with malice as he leaned in closer to Topper, his eyes glowing with a twisted glee. "I know exactly how to break her," he sneered, his lips curling into a cruel smile. "Things that will make her beg for me." A dark shadow passed over his face, revealing the depths of his deviousness.
Topper's deep, rumbling laugh broke the quiet air, accompanied by a sound of disbelief as he watched Rafe's playful antics. A small smile tugged at the corners of Topper's mouth as he raised his beer in a mock toast to his friend. "You never cease to amaze me," he chuckled, taking a swig from his bottle before setting it back down on the table with a thud. "Cheers to you, man," he added with a grin.
As Rafe's lips curled into a sly grin, the dim lights of the country club reflected in his eyes, illuminating the spark of determination within. With a confident nod, he raised his beer to his lips, savoring the crisp taste as it invigorated him for what was to come. In that moment, the chatter of the club faded into the background, replaced by the rhythmic thumping of his own heartbeat, pulsing with anticipation. With every sip, he felt the weight of his intentions settle upon his shoulders, yet it only fueled his resolve further.
As his gaze drifted into the distance, his mind danced with visions of strategy, each step meticulously planned to achieve his desired outcome. In the hushed atmosphere of the club, Rafe was a portrait of determination, ready to embark on a journey that would test the limits of his calculations and potentially change everything.

As you sat in the room, the silence enveloped you like a thick fog, muffling the outside world and amplifying the cacophony within your mind. Hours seemed to pass unnoticed, each moment stretching into eternity as you grappled with the whirlwind of emotions that threatened to overwhelm you.
The room itself was a stark white canvas, its walls bare save for a single window that cast a pale light upon the floor. The air was still and heavy, charged with an electric tension that seemed to hum beneath your skin. And there you sat, a fragile figure perched upon the edge of the bed, lost in a sea of thoughts and memories.
The sight of Rafe, after two long years of absence, had struck you like a bolt of lightning, igniting a storm of memories that threatened to consume you whole. You couldn't help but replay moments shared with him, each one a vivid tableau painted in shades of joy, longing, and heartache.
With a heavy heart, you pulled your legs up to your chest, seeking solace in the familiar embrace of solitude. Your mind raced, flickering between moments of happiness and pain, uncertainty and yearning. It was as if time had folded in on itself, trapping you in an endless loop of what-ifs and regrets.
As you stared blankly at the wall before you, the weight of those memories pressed down on you like a leaden blanket. Each image, each whispered conversation, etched itself into your mind with painful clarity, refusing to be ignored or forgotten.
Lost in the labyrinth of your thoughts, you couldn't help but wonder what the future held in store. Would you find the strength to confront the ghosts of your past and move forward, or would you remain forever trapped in the shadows of what could have been?
The weight of guilt settled heavily upon you, a silent burden that threatened to suffocate you with its crushing embrace. It wasn't just the encounter with Rafe that had shaken you to your core; it was the raw intensity of the emotions it had dredged up from the depths of your soul.
Your friends, ever perceptive, had noticed the shift in your demeanor, the subtle changes in your laughter, the haunted look in your eyes. Among them, JJ had been the most attentive, his concern a constant presence in the background of your days. He tried to coax you out of your shell, offering small gestures of kindness and understanding, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to reach the depths of your turmoil.
And it pained him, more than he dared to admit, to see you struggling beneath the weight of your own emotions. He longed to chase away the shadows that haunted your every step, to wrap you in his arms and shield you from the storm raging inside your heart. But try as he might, he couldn't shake the nagging feeling that there was something more, something hidden beneath the surface, that eluded even his keenest gaze.
The sound of a timid knock echoed through the room, jolting you out of the labyrinth of your thoughts. With a furrowed brow and a racing heart, you turned your gaze towards the door, a sliver of curiosity piercing through the veil of your reverie. "Who is it?" you called out, your voice tinged with a mix of apprehension and intrigue.
A familiar voice, soft and gentle, floated through the wooden barrier, carrying with it a sense of warmth and familiarity that washed over you like a gentle tide. "It's me, JJ," came the whispered reply, so quiet that it was almost lost amidst the rustle of the wind outside.
With a heavy sigh, you pushed yourself off the bed, the weight of uncertainty settling like a leaden cloak upon your shoulders. With hesitant steps, you made your way to the door, your hand trembling as you reached out to grasp the handle. As you pulled it open, a rush of cool air swept into the room, carrying with it the faint scent of salt and sea.
Standing before you was JJ, his features bathed in the soft glow of twilight streaming through the window. His eyes, pools of deep blue, held a silent question, a silent plea for understanding that tugged at the strings of your heart. And as you met his gaze, a fragile connection blossomed between you, fragile yet unbreakable, binding you together in a silent embrace.
For a moment, you stood there, locked in a silent tableau, the weight of unspoken words hanging heavy in the air between you. And as the seconds stretched into eternity, you realized that sometimes, the greatest truths lie not in what is said, but in the silent spaces that linger between the words.
With a faint smile, you welcomed him into the room with a soft "Hey, come in," stepping aside to allow him entry. JJ nodded his thanks and crossed the threshold, his steps carrying him towards the edge of your bed where he settled himself down, his gaze fixed on you with a mixture of concern and affection.
"You haven't left your room all day, Y/N," His soft voice pierced through the silence that had consumed your room all day. You couldn't bring yourself to leave, the weight of your thoughts chaining you in place. Your hand trembled as he reached out to gently grasp it, the warmth of his touch sending a shiver down your spine and grounding you in the present amidst the storm of emotions swirling inside you.
As you lowered yourself onto the bed beside him, the mattress dipped slightly under your weight. You turned to face him, his eyes speaking volumes of unspoken worry and concern. A silent plea hung heavy in the air between you, his gaze searching yours for answers.
"I know," you murmured, barely above a whisper as you struggled to find words to express the turmoil within. "It's just… being back here again, it threw me off more than I thought it would."
JJ's sigh echoed softly in the room, a somber melody that underscored the weight of your shared emotions. He sensed the unspoken truth lingering beneath your words - the invisible thread tethering you to Rafe's memory and tugging you back into the tumultuous waters of your past.
"I understand," JJ murmured, his voice tinged with empathy and apprehension. He knew how much this encounter with Rafe had affected you, stirring up a whirlwind of conflicting emotions and leaving you adrift in uncertainty. But despite the storm raging within you, JJ remained steadfast in his resolve to be your anchor - guiding you through the tempest with unwavering support and love.
"I'm here," he reassured you, his words a gentle promise woven with sincerity. "I won't let you give up like this." His declaration hung in the air, a beacon of hope amidst the darkness threatening to consume you.
But even with JJ's unwavering support, you couldn't help but feel like your past was haunting you after coming back to this island. You spoke quietly, barely above a whisper, struggling to put your feelings into words.
JJ's heart ached at the vulnerability in your voice as he reached out to gently cup your cheek, his touch a comforting anchor amidst the swirling currents of your emotions.
"What do you mean, Y/N?" he asked, his voice gentle yet filled with concern. He leaned in closer, his eyes searching yours for any hint of what you were feeling.
"I just don't feel like I'm half the girl you think I am," you confessed softly, your words heavy with self-doubt.
JJ's confusion only added to the weight of your emotions, making it harder to articulate your feelings. "What are you talking about, baby?"
Tears welled up in your eyes as you struggled to find the right words. "I've done things that were wrong, Jay," you admitted, each word feeling like a jagged edge tearing at your soul. "And… I ran away from this island just to escape my own problems. That wasn't okay." Your voice wavered as you spoke, the weight of your confession hanging heavily in the air. You felt exposed and vulnerable - but also relieved to finally have someone know the truth.
A somber expression enveloped JJ's features as he listened to your words. "If this is about Rafe and what happened between us when you were seeing him, that was well over two years ago, Y/N," he gently reassured you. "You can't punish yourself for whatever you did in the past, and besides, you two were broken up." His voice carried a comforting tone, laced with understanding and empathy, as he tried to ease the weight of your guilt.
JJ's expression softened, his eyes reflecting a mixture of compassion and contemplation as he searched your face for the right words. For a moment, silence hung heavy between you, the weight of your question lingering in the air. Finally, JJ spoke, his voice gentle yet resolute. "Y/N, forgiveness isn't about deserving or not deserving. It's about understanding and moving forward," he said, his tone carrying a depth of sincerity. "And if it were me… I'd like to think I would have found a way to forgive you."
Although he was sincere, you responded with a dry, non-humored laugh. "You would've hated me, JJ. You and I both know that."
JJ reached out, gently cupping your cheek, his touch warm and reassuring. "I could never hate you, Y/N," he said softly, his gaze unwavering as he met your eyes. "No matter what you think you've done, I'm always going to love you."
As you sought solace in JJ's comforting presence, a whirlwind of conflicting emotions swept through your mind. The echo of past grievances against Rafe clashed with the unexpected empathy that stirred within you upon seeing him again.
In the quiet depths of your soul, doubts danced like shadows, casting uncertainty over your hardened resolve. Could you truly unshackle yourself from the chains of resentment that bound you to the past? Each word JJ spoke, laced with conviction and forgiveness, tugged at the fragile threads of your resolve, threatening to unravel the carefully woven tapestry of your anger.
Yet, amidst the tumultuous storm of emotions, a flicker of compassion ignited within you. The vulnerability in Rafe's gaze, a stark contrast to the arrogance you once knew, pierced through the armor around your heart. It was a silent plea for understanding, a beacon of humanity in a sea of animosity.
With a heavy heart and a tentative smile, you attempted to convey to JJ the semblance of acceptance he sought. But deep within, the embers of resentment still smoldered, casting a shadow of doubt over the possibility of forgiveness.
"I've always loved you, Y/N," he whispered, his voice filled with a depth of emotion that resonated deep within you. In that moment, surrounded by the warmth of his embrace, you felt a sense of belonging that transcended words.
With a forced smile, you gazed into JJ's eyes, hoping he wouldn't see through the facade you had carefully crafted. "I love you too, Jay," you repeated, the words hollow and empty, yet spoken with a practiced ease that belied the turmoil raging within. As you spoke the words, you hoped they would serve as a shield, deflecting the raw emotions that threatened to engulf you both. You wanted to believe them, to convince yourself that everything was fine, but deep down, doubts gnawed at the edges of your consciousness.
JJ's soft smile faltered for a moment, a flicker of uncertainty passing over his features before he cleared his throat and spoke up again. His words hung in the air, laden with a sense of hesitation that caught your attention.
"Oh, I also forgot to tell you," he began, his voice tinged with a hint of apprehension, "I got us our jobs back at the golf course."
"You did what?" Your eyes widened in horror, and you shot up from the bed so fast it almost made JJ flinch. The words hung heavy in the air, your mind racing with a whirlwind of emotions. Working at the golf course meant revisiting a part of your past you had worked so hard to leave behind. It was a place filled with memories - both good and bad - that still had the power to shake you to your core.
JJ's expression softened as he watched your reaction, his own uncertainty reflecting in his eyes. He knew how difficult this news was for you, but he also believed that facing your fears head-on might bring some closure.
"Yeah," he replied, his voice gentle yet firm. "I thought it might be good for us, you know? To get back into the swing of things."
You took in a deep breath as you paced the floor, trying to collect your thoughts amidst the whirlwind of emotions. "Well, when are we supposed to start, JJ?" you asked, your voice tinged with apprehension.
JJ scratched the back of his head nervously, his gaze dropping to the floor for a moment before meeting yours. "Uh, tomorrow," he replied, his tone hesitant. "I know it's a lot to take in, but I thought we could use the distraction, you know?"
You scoffed in disbelief as you continued pacing the bedroom, shaking your head continuously as you confronted your boyfriend. "I can't believe you did this, JJ. We could've gotten a job anywhere, and you chose the golf course?"
JJ seemed taken aback by your outburst, shifting uncomfortably under your gaze. "Why are you so upset about working there? Is it because of Rafe?" he asked cautiously, his brow furrowing in concern.
You paused, feeling a surge of anger and frustration at the mention of Rafe's name. Turning on your heel to face JJ, you felt your heart pounding with intensity. "I can't believe you'd say that, especially after the conversation we just had," you exclaimed, your voice laced with a mix of disbelief and disappointment.
JJ's jaw dropped as he looked up at you, his brows furrowing in confusion and frustration. "Well, it's not a far-fetched guess, Y/N!" he exclaimed, his tone edged with frustration. "I mean, why else would you care so much about working there?"
Your voice rose with frustration as you confronted JJ, the pent-up emotions finally boiling over. "Why do you think everything is about Rafe?" you exclaimed, your tone edged with exasperation. "Maybe I didn't like working there, or maybe it's because I fucking outgrew the place when we stopped working there two damn years ago, JJ!"
JJ's eyes widened in surprise at the intensity of your words, his expression shifting from confusion to realization. "Y/N, I'm sorry," he said softly, his voice tinged with regret. "I didn't mean to assume..."
You shoved his hand away, a pang of hurt flashing across JJ's features as he watched you withdraw. "Look, I'm not doing this with you right now, Jay," you said firmly, holding your hands up in defense as you backed away. "I can't handle another fight or argument with anyone, especially you. I just need to be alone right now."
JJ's expression fell, the hurt evident in his eyes as he nodded silently, understanding your need for space. "Okay," he said quietly, his voice tinged with disappointment. "I'll... give you some space."
With a silent nod, you met JJ's gaze, a faint apologetic expression softening your features. Wordlessly, you turned on your heel and made your way out of the bedroom, the weight of the unresolved tension heavy on your shoulders. As you left JJ behind, the air between you thick with unspoken words, you couldn't shake the nagging feeling of guilt that gnawed at your conscience.
Sarah bounced up from the couch, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she eagerly awaited your response. "Hey! Guess where we are going tonight?" she chirped, her voice filled with an infectious energy that lifted your spirits.
You couldn't help but be drawn in by her enthusiasm, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips as you watched her. "Where are we going tonight?" you asked, genuinely curious now, grateful for the distraction from your earlier argument with JJ.
Sarah's eyes lit up with excitement as she practically bounced on her feet, her smile infectious. "A party!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with enthusiasm.
You couldn't help but feel a surge of curiosity, mixed with a tinge of apprehension. "But aren't we supposed to be keeping a low profile?" you questioned, furrowing your brow in concern.
Sarah waved off your concerns with a dismissive gesture, a playful smirk playing at her lips. "We'll be fine," she assured you, her tone laced with a hint of mischief.
You pondered her words for a moment, weighing the potential consequences of going against John B's wishes. The temptation of a night of carefree fun was hard to resist, and Sarah's infectious enthusiasm was even harder. "Okay," you relented, a small smile spreading across your lips as you agreed.
A squeal of delight escaped Sarah's lips as she threw her arms around you, enveloping you in a warm embrace. "Yay!" she cheered, her voice filled with joy and excitement. "This is going to be so much fun, Y/N!"
The tension eased from your body as you returned her hug, the warmth of her embrace a soothing balm on your frayed nerves. In that moment, the troubles of the past seemed to fade into the background, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.
You pulled away slightly, shooting Sarah a playful grin as you met her gaze. "Let's get ready, then!" you exclaimed, matching her enthusiasm as you grabbed her hand and led her towards the bathroom.
You spent the rest of the afternoon getting ready for the party, a welcome distraction from the heaviness that had weighed on you all day. The excitement buzzed in the air, a palpable sense of anticipation building as you and Sarah prepared yourselves for the night ahead.
With each passing moment, you felt the tension and stress melting away, replaced by a sense of eager anticipation for the evening. And as the sun began to set, painting the sky in a symphony of hues, you couldn't help but wonder what awaited you at the party.

A myriad of emotions coursed through your veins, the energy of the crowd fueling your own enthusiasm. You couldn't help but be swept up in the contagious spirit of the party, the music thrumming through your body as you swayed along to the beat.
The pulsating lights and pounding bass of the music blurred the edges of your perception, enveloping you in a euphoric haze. You moved to the rhythm with a sense of abandon, feeling the music course through your veins like a drug. Sarah danced beside you, her laughter mingling with the beat as you lost yourself in the moment, surrendering to the intoxicating atmosphere of the party.
As you swayed to the music, you leaned in close to Sarah, the excitement evident in your voice despite the cacophony around you. "I'm gonna go get another drink!" you exclaimed, your words punctuated by the pulsating beat. Sarah flashed you a thumbs up, her own energy mirroring yours as she continued dancing to the rhythm.
As you weaved through the pulsating crowd, the thumping bass reverberating through your body, you felt a surge of energy coursing through you. The dim lights danced around you, casting fleeting shadows that seemed to move in time with the music. With each step, you felt the weight of the world lift from your shoulders, replaced by a sense of liberation and exhilaration.
At the bar, you leaned against the counter, catching the eye of the bartender amidst the chaos. "Another round, please!" you called out, your voice barely audible above the din of the music. The bartender nodded in acknowledgment, swiftly preparing your drink as you scanned the room, taking in the sea of faces illuminated by the neon glow.
Leaning casually against the polished surface of the bar counter, you let your gaze wander aimlessly across the pulsating crowd. The flickering lights cast a kaleidoscope of colors across the room, painting the scene in vibrant hues that danced in time with the music. You tapped your fingers lightly against the edge of the counter, the rhythm of the song seeping into your bones as you swayed gently to its melody.
As you waited for your drink to arrive, you found yourself lost in the moment, humming along to the familiar tune playing overhead. The thumping bass reverberated through the floor, sending vibrations up your legs and into your core. It was as if the music had woven itself into the very fabric of the room, enveloping you in its infectious energy. Amidst the chaos of the party, you felt a sense of calm wash over you, a fleeting moment of tranquility amidst the frenzy. The laughter and chatter of the crowd faded into the background as you allowed yourself to be swept away by the music, letting it carry you to a place of pure bliss.
With your drink in hand, you turned back towards the pulsating crowd, ready to lose yourself once again in the rhythm of the music. But as you took a step forward, your gaze lifted, and you froze in your tracks.
There, just a few feet away, stood a familiar figure, his tall stature commanding attention even amidst the throng of partygoers. Surrounded by his friends, he seemed completely at ease, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips as he engaged in conversation.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still as you locked eyes with him, a rush of conflicting emotions washing over you. It was as if the chaos of the party faded into the background, leaving only the two of you in a suspended moment of recognition.
Your heart quickened its pace as you struggled to maintain your composure, your grip on your drink tightening involuntarily. Every fiber of your being urged you to look away, to flee from the intensity of his gaze. But something kept you rooted to the spot, unable to tear your eyes away from his.
In that moment, surrounded by the pulsing music and the swirling crowd, you found yourself inexplicably drawn to him, the pull of his presence undeniable despite the distance between you. With a steadying breath, you braced yourself for what was to come, knowing that this encounter would change everything.
Your heart pounded in your chest as you watched him weave through the crowd, each movement drawing him closer to where you stood. The dim lights of the party cast shadows across his features, highlighting the familiar contours of his face as he neared.
Time seemed to slow as he finally reached you, his presence enveloping you in a wave of nostalgia and uncertainty. You couldn't tear your gaze away from him, captivated by the intensity of his eyes as they met yours.
"Y/N? What are you doing here?" His voice broke through the haze of the party, pulling you back to the present moment. The sound of his voice sent a shiver down your spine, stirring memories of shared moments and whispered promises.
"I... I'm just here with Sarah," you replied, your voice barely audible above the music. His proximity made it difficult to focus, his presence eliciting a whirlwind of conflicting emotions within you.
He nodded in understanding, his expression inscrutable as he took in your response. "I see," he murmured, his voice carrying a hint of something you couldn't quite decipher. You found yourself caught in his gaze, unable to look away as he spoke.
"Rafe... I," your words caught in your throat as you struggled to find the right thing to say. Meeting his gaze, you searched for the courage to speak, to convey the torrent of emotions swirling inside you.
"Yeah?" Rafe prompted softly, his eyes searching yours for answers.
"I'm sorry about the other day," you attempted to apologize with sincerity although your words slurred some, "it was just a shock to see you.""
You watched as Rafe's shoulders relaxed a bit, his features easing from their initial tension. "It's alright," he said quietly, his gaze softening as he met your eyes. "I guess I should've expected to see you back here eventually."
You held your silence as you peered up at him momentarily with a doe-eyed look gazing up at him, silently pleading for his forgiveness. Although the room around you was still spinning, you intently watched as his azure colored eyes flickered back and forth between yours, as if he was trying to find some truth to your words.
Rafe's expression softened further as he looked down at you, a hint of vulnerability shining in his eyes. "I've missed you," he admitted quietly, his voice barely audible over the music.
As his words hung in the air, the chaos of the party seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you in a bubble of suspended time. The confession tugged at your heart, stirring up feelings you had buried deep within yourself.
"I've missed you too," you whispered, the words slipping out before you could stop them. The raw honesty of the moment enveloped you both, weaving a fragile thread of connection between your intertwined pasts and uncertain futures.
Rafe reached out tentatively, his hand hovering in the space between you as if seeking permission. Without hesitation, you closed the gap, letting his fingers intertwine with yours. It felt like coming home after a long journey, a sense of familiarity and warmth flooding through your veins.
In that fleeting moment of contact, a wave of memories flooded your mind - the shared laughter, stolen kisses, and whispered promises that once filled your days with joy. The weight of unspoken words hung heavy in the air, begging to be released into the fragile space between you. Rafe's gaze bore into yours, his eyes shimmering with unshed tears as if mirroring the emotions swirling within you.
With a deep breath, you mustered the courage to break the silence that had settled between you. "I never stopped loving you," the words spilled out in a whisper, carrying a lifetime of regrets and longing.
Rafe's grip on your hand tightened ever so slightly, a silent acknowledgment of the feelings he had buried deep within himself. "I thought about you every day," he confessed, his voice barely above a murmur.
Tears welled up in your eyes as the weight of unspoken truths lifted off your shoulders, leaving behind a bittersweet ache for all the time lost. The music continued to play in the background, a gentle melody underscoring the intensity of the moment between you and Rafe. It was as if the universe had conspired to bring you both back together, allowing a second chance at love to bloom amidst the chaos of the party swirling around you.
As you stood there, hand in hand with Rafe, the distance that had once seemed insurmountable now felt like a mere whisper of a forgotten past. The years apart melted away, leaving behind a sense of familiarity and yearning that echoed in the depths of your souls.
"I don't want to lose you again," Rafe's voice broke through the silence, his words laced with a vulnerability that pierced through your defenses. His gaze held yours, pleading for a chance to make things right, to rewrite the story that had been left unfinished between you.
In that moment, surrounded by the haunting melody of the music and the weight of their shared unspoken truths, you felt a sense of hope blossoming within you. The years of heartache and longing seemed to fade into nothingness as you found yourself gazing into Rafe's eyes, seeing the same yearning reflected back at you.
“So much has changed since I left, Rafe. I..I’m with JJ now,” A flicker of pain crossed Rafe's face at your words, his grip on your hand tightening momentarily before he forced himself to relax. "I see," he replied softly, though the turmoil in his eyes was impossible to conceal. You could sense the flood of emotions swirling beneath the surface, threatening to spill over at any moment.
As you watched Rafe struggle to maintain his composure, a pang of regret washed over you. The complexities of the situation weighed heavily on your heart, torn between the past that still held a piece of your soul and the present that offered a different kind of solace.
"I'm sorry, Rafe," you whispered, the words heavy with an unspoken apology for the wounds you had inadvertently reopened. His gaze softened as he looked at you, a mix of understanding and heartbreak clouding his features.
"It's okay," Rafe said, his voice tinged with resignation. "I should have expected as much."
The air between you grew heavy with unspoken words and unresolved emotions, creating a rift that felt impossible to bridge. You searched for the right words to ease the tension that lingered between you, yearning for a way to mend what had been broken so long ago.
"I never wanted to hurt you," you confessed, the weight of guilt settling heavily on your shoulders. Rafe's gaze softened upon hearing your words, a flicker of empathy shining through the hurt in his eyes.
"I know," he replied quietly, his voice laced with a mixture of pain and acceptance. "We both made mistakes, Y/N. That's in the past now." Silence enveloped you once more, the weight of unspoken apologies and regrets hanging in the air like a heavy shroud. The music continued to pulse around you, a stark contrast to the stillness that had settled between you and Rafe.
"I should go," Rafe said suddenly, his voice breaking through the quiet that had descended upon you both. His fingers slipped out of yours, leaving a ghost of warmth in their wake. You watched as he turned to leave, his shoulders hunched with the weight of unresolved emotions. As he reached the doorway, he paused, his back still turned to you.
"I'll always care about you," Rafe's voice drifted back to you, heavy with emotion. And then, without another word, he was gone.
You stood there for a moment, the echo of his words ringing in your ears. The truth in them was undeniable, a bittersweet reminder of what once was between you. With a heavy sigh, you closed your eyes and let the music wash over you, its melody a poignant backdrop to the ache in your heart.
As the party continued on around you, laughter and chatter filling the air, you found yourself lost in memories of a time when things had been different between you and Rafe. A time when love had bloomed instead of withered, when promises had meant something more than just words.
But now, all that was left were shattered fragments of what could have been. The weight of regret settled in the pit of your stomach as you replayed the moments of the past that led to this heartbreaking present. The music that once brought joy now felt like a cruel reminder of happier times, mocking the emptiness that consumed you.
Lost in your thoughts, you barely noticed when a familiar voice interrupted the melancholy symphony playing in your mind. "Y/N?" The voice was hesitant, almost tentative, pulling you back to reality. You turned to see Rafe standing before you, uncertainty written across his features.
"I couldn't leave without saying this," he began, his voice barely above a whisper. "I still love you, Y/N. Despite everything that has happened, my feelings for you never truly faded." His words hung in the air between you, heavy with raw emotion.
Tears stung at the corners of your eyes, emotions swirling within you like a tumultuous storm. Rafe's confession left you speechless, the weight of his words crashing over you like a tidal wave. Despite the ache in your heart, a glimmer of hope flickered within you at his declaration. You searched his eyes, seeing the genuine vulnerability and longing in them.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still as you both stood there, enveloped in a bubble of unresolved emotions and unspoken words. The sounds of the party faded into the background, leaving only the two of you in a world of your own making.
Finally finding your voice, you reached out a trembling hand towards him, unsure of what the future held but unwilling to let go of this fragile chance at reconciliation. "Rafe," you whispered, your voice barely audible above the music. "I never stopped loving you either."
His eyes widened in surprise, as if not daring to believe that your feelings mirrored his own. Without another word, he stepped closer to you, closing the distance between you until there was barely a breath of space separating your bodies. The world around you seemed to fade away, leaving only the electric tension between you and Rafe.
In that moment, it felt as if all the pain and heartache of the past melted away, overshadowed by the overwhelming rush of emotion that surged through you. The warmth of his touch sent a shiver down your spine, a familiar yet long-forgotten sensation.
Rafe's gaze never wavered from yours as he slowly raised his hand to cup your cheek, his touch gentle yet firm. Every nerve in your body tingled at his proximity, at the unspoken promise that hung in the air between you.
Without a word, you leaned into his touch, closing your eyes as if savoring the feeling of his hand against your skin. It was as if the world had finally righted itself, as if all the pieces that had been scattered were falling back into place.
And in that stolen moment of quiet intimacy, with your heart beating wildly in your chest, Rafe's lips met yours in a tender yet fervent kiss. It was a merging of souls, a culmination of years of longing and regret, all encapsulated in the simple act of their lips meeting. The world around you ceased to exist as you melted into each other, the weight of past grievances lifting off your shoulders with each passing second.
As the kiss deepened, it was as if time itself had rewound, bringing you back to a place where love was pure and uncomplicated. The doubts and fears that had plagued your mind just moments ago faded into oblivion, replaced by a sense of completeness that only Rafe could bring.
When you finally pulled away, breathless and dazed, there was a softness in Rafe's eyes that you hadn't seen in years. It was a look of understanding and forgiveness, a silent promise of starting anew. "I've missed you," Rafe whispered, his voice barely audible yet filled with a depth of emotion that resonated within you. His words hung in the air, echoing the unspoken longing that had lingered between you for so long.
Tears welled up in your eyes as you searched his gaze, finding solace and hope reflected back at you. It was a moment of vulnerability and truth, where all the barriers you had built around your heart crumbled in the face of his sincerity.
"I've missed you too," you whispered back, your voice barely above a breath as if afraid to break the fragile magic that had enveloped you both.
Rafe's thumb brushed away a tear that escaped down your cheek, his touch gentle and reassuring. In that simple gesture, you found a sense of peace that had eluded you for years. In the quiet hum of the night, with nothing but the soft rustle of leaves outside the window, Rafe drew you closer into his embrace. The warmth of his touch seeped into your skin, chasing away the remnants of doubt and uncertainty that lingered within you.
As you rested your head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, a sense of belonging washed over you. It was a feeling that transcended words, a silent understanding that had been forged through years of shared moments and untold secrets.
The sound of his voice lulled you into a peaceful state, his words echoing the unspoken feelings that lay dormant within you.
"I'm sorry," Rafe murmured, his tone laced with remorse. "For everything."
You nodded against his chest, the movement barely perceptible. "I know," you replied, your voice thick with emotion. "I'm sorry too."
The words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of regret and forgiveness. With the music pulsating around you, you clung to him as if afraid to let go, knowing that this was a moment you would carry with you forever.
