Heeeey, Darth!! Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💚
Hi Summers! What a great idea! I love this!
Here are the five favorite fics I've written, in no particular order (but maybe a bit of an order):
A Secret Uncovered Summary: When Danny's transformation is caught on tape, Danny has a whole new battle to face, including a press conference, Valerie, and, of course, school. But who is the mysterious ghost who set him up? And how much can he possibly mess up his life? Reason: This has always been my favorite of the pieces I've written. I poured so much love and work into this piece over (many) years. I'm so proud of it. I set out to tell a story of what it would be like if everyone knows (before Everybody Knows AUs became a thing and even before Reality Trip haha) and used it as a vehicle to show so many different reactions. I've had so much fun working on this. (And there may be a cross-post to AO3 very soon!)
Tortured Truth Summary: Danny's parents discover that the ghost boy is half human. Now that they've captured Danny, will he submit to torture and reveal himself, or is the revelation just the beginning of their problems? Reason: I'm starting with my old ones here! This is actually the first fic I ever shared with anyone, and it's also the first fic I've ever finished. While the torture is tame compared to today's standards, I feel like it has a great emotional payout and I enjoyed taking a micro-examination of the family unit's reactions and using Danny's illness as a way to force everyone to confront his powers.
The Red Vengeance Project Summary: With cameras strapped to their foreheads, Paulina and Star venture into the woods to bait the ghostly urban legend to appear in the hopes that Phantom will come save them. It seemed like a good plan in the light of day, but they get more than they ask for in the dark, claustrophobic, and dangerous woods. Reason: This was one of the first DP fics I'd written in a long time. It'd taken a break and just come back to the phandom to write this and another fic for Ectoberhaunt and I loved it. It brought me back to why I loved writing for this phandom in the first place. I picked this one over my actual first fic since coming back because I enjoyed writing this one more. I loved playing around with the different POV and I felt like it resulted in a really cool effect.
Micro-Unmasking Summary: Great timing prevented Danny’s secret from being revealed to Dash during their shared experience with the Fenton Crammer. But what would happen if his timing had been just a little off and Dash saw more than Danny wanted? Reason: This one's had a special place in my heart for awhile. I started it in 2009 and finally finished it in 2022! It was also just a fun topic that I enjoyed reading. I felt like I got to be a little witty in this one and I just really enjoyed writing it.
Prove That You Deserve the Answer Summary: After an argument with Jazz leaves Maddie feeling insecure about her role as a mother, she wishes she could understand her children better. She soon learns the dangers of making wishes around ghosts when she switches places with Jazz. But when this body swap allows her the opportunity to really talk with Danny, she realizes that maybe she can use this to finally see what's really going on with her son, and maybe find some way to fix their relationship in the process. Reason: I am so proud of this one. I sought out to finish a longer fic and I actually did it! I really pushed myself on this one, and I feel like it really paid off. I feel like the internal thoughts and monologues were so fun to explore and I loved writing from Maddie's POV.
And there are my five! This was a fun dive into my past works and really took some thought as to why they became some of my favorites.
Because this is a great idea, I'm gonna do some tagging! Maybe we can come up with a great list of reading recommendations from it by the end! I'm going to tag: @summerssixecho (you're not escaping your own idea lol), @underforeversgrace, @murphy-kitt, @nickelodeonstudios, and @lexosaurus

Kinktober 2022, my own prompt list and it's a secret, will be revealed as I post, hopefully everyday.
day 1 Size Difference Kink
First day already feels like a failure because my notepad closed on its own and I lost my thing without it being saved, the pain T-T Ive tried to rewrite it but changed my mind with some stuff and here we are.
tumblr now allows to mark stuff as mature so I'm doing it, but obviously, minors DNI.
You've never felt truly small compared to anyone. That was until you met him.
From the very first second you saw him, you felt impossibly small and that stirred new emotions, you'd never expect to feel towards someone that held you a prisoner.
You swear you could watch him for hours, when he was sitting on his enormous throne, his arms resting on his lap, while one was supporting his head. It didn't help that he had four arms. Large, veiny, with perfect, godlike sculpted muscles. You could almost picture what his hands would feel like around your throat when he was ripping his prey apart with his extremely sharp, long nails. His one hand could wrap around your throat with ease.
His figure dwarfed you whenever you were standing next to him. He was twice your size, at least. It wasn't hard to imagine your self kissing down his chest to his stomach and that perfect V line that was presented to your eyes nearly all the time, since he liked to wear his kimono down.
He was so big. You got claimed as his "personal" helper, you got to keep him well fed, helped to keep his body clean and from time to time you could catch a glimpse of what was hiding below his waistline. They were bigger than anything you'd ever seen. You always wondered what he'd think if only he knew. What would he do if he knew that you fantasized about him daily.
You swear that sometimes you caught him looking at you as you were doing your work and the thought of him watching you was even more arousing and made it harder to keep your little secret.
But he knew. He knew it from the very beginning but left you oblivious for quite a good time.
Sukuna also was obsessed with how small you were. The fact that he could practically grab you like nothing with just one of his hands made him feral. You were so small and he could break you, he could ruin you, oh how he wanted to... But he was patient. He wanted to see when and who was going to break first. Who will make the first move? He was waiting... Of course it was you.
Now, your knees are burning and you're choking on one of his cocks, barely able to take half of it on your first time. It was euphoric to Sukuna how quickly you became addicted to him, to his touch. How quickly you began to beg for him. How cute you looked now, between his thighs, struggling to fit him in your mouth. He couldn't wait to see how well you're going to take him when he bends you over.
Two of his hands knead your breasts, one wrapped around your neck, squeezing lightly and one at the back of your head, setting a pace to your ministrations. Your hands wrapped around the shafts of his cocks, helping where your mouth couldn't reach.
He grabbed you by your waist, lifting you up and placing in his lap, your pussy "accidentally" brushing the tips of his leaking cocks. Sukuna slowly drags his sharp nail from your bottom lip, through your neck, chest, stomach, stopping right before your pleasure bud. "Tell me how much you want it" he whispers to your ear, as his finger starts circling slowly on your clit.

So, there's a lot going on with Doctor Who right now, and I'm not sure it's all gonna work out, but I really want to give RTD the benefit of the doubt right now, because he's got a nearly impossible task here.
The show went through a dip in ratings and he was brought back in to rescue it. He revived the series from the dead in the first place. But, he now has to create something keeping a very diverse audience in mind. I don't mean "diverse" in a race/gender/sexuality sense, though that's certainly also true. I mean diverse in what they actually want from the show. I mean, you've got:
Fans of the Classic series who generally hate everything new.
Long time fans who like the new series, but weren't really into the Chibnall era.
These can be divided between "We didn't like Chibnall and we want things to be like they were before him" and "We didn't like Chibnall and we want something completely new."
People who stopped watching the show some time between 2010 and 2022 who want to get back into it, because it looks like it did when they were watching it.
Literal children who just watch Doctor Who.
Fans of the Chibnall era that don't like that it ended.
Fans very critical of the first RTD era who just don't want him back in general.
Fans who think the Chibnall era was "too political"
Fans who think the Chibnall era played it too safe politically. (Compare the treatment of capitalism in Oxygen to the treatment of capitalism in Kerblam.)
And I'm definitely forgetting some people here. He has to make the show like it was in the classic era, like it was the last time he was running things, like the Moffat era, like the Chibnall, and like something completely new. Something different, but not too different. Something inoffensive, including to people who get offended by attempts to be inoffensive. Something that appeals to children without seeming too childish for adult fans. And it all has to bring up ratings and turn a profit.
So everything he's done so far that you don't like was done in an attempt to cater to someone else.
David Tennant's back for the people who stopped watching after he left. This is stupid to everyone else.
Series 14 is a new Series 1 for new people who feel weird starting a show in its 14th season, who we don't want to binge 13 seasons to catch up. It ruins the numbering system for anyone keeping track.
13's cloths changing when she regenerated into 14 was an attempt to avoid controversy with one group which created controversy with others. Same thing with all the Davros stuff recently.
Meanwhile, you have Tales of the TARDIS, a popular dw comic villain appearing in the show, and the return of a one-off villain from 1966 to appeal to classic series and eu fans, as well as make new fans curious about those things.
He's trying to do something for everyone, but some things that are for one group are against another. Still, I can't be mad at him for trying. He's being giving a near-impossible task of saving a sinking ship, which wasn't sinking for half of its passengers, and already underwater for a good portion of the other half. Things are going to go wrong in there somewhere.
I'm still going to wait and see how this next season goes before calling it a success or failure. I don't believe Doctor Who can be Ruined Forever. Even if it's cancelled, it'll come back eventually. It's already happened. And even if it's not on TV, we're still got a lot of other stuff. This show, even if it's doing things you hate, is unkillable.
I know I have absolutely no sway over this fandom, but I think we should try to be patient. Even if you didn't like the RTD era, he's still trying here. If you didn't like the first RTD era, don't be surprised if you don't like this one. This era will end and you might like the next one. If you don't, whatever you do like will still be there.
Everything's gonna be fine by someone's standards.

I FINISHED TNG!
please clap.
i never actually did an update on my thoughts post since season 3, so i figured before i watched the movies i'll do a summary of my thoughts on the show.
first off it apparently took me over a year to finish it since i started in july of 2022, and it's now august of 2023. this isn't because i didn't like it or anything, i just kept doing other stuff and unlike with tos, i wasn't watching it WITH someone, so i wasn't on a schedule of any kind. however i did enjoy the show, i grew to like the characters quite a lot and i was invested in their stories. it was definitely a different vibe to tos, while tos is quite episodic, campy, and a bit dated, tng is less campy, a bit less episodic, and slightly less dated lol. it did kind of annoy me that we would start to get these longer arcing plots and then they would be abandoned or forgotten. for example at the beginning of the show it seemed like riker and troi were going to have a lot more "drama" in the show but nothing really happened with them, and then at the very end of the show they put her with worf and don't really explore that fully. i don't just mean romantic pairings but that's an example of what i mean. there was also just a general quality difference in episodes, maybe it was more noticeable here than in tos since tng was longer, but towards the end of the show in particular we got really good episodes followed by quite shit ones. by the time the show ended i didn't really feel like it was ready to end, if that makes sense. i feel like it was always toeing the line between being episodic and being a show with long plots. in general -- was fun. i had a good time. i've forgotten a lot from the beginning but oh well.
here i'll give my thoughts on the characters since that's what i used to do. in no particular order:
picard: i really don't have many strong opinions about him, some episodes he definitely was more entertaining than others. i think i would have liked to see him fail more often because generally he seems too capable at times. i do enjoy the rare moments where he loosens up. despite the longer screentime he had i weirdly feel like he has less depth than kirk? let me know if this is a crazy take but i don't feel like picard is a particularly complicated man, he doesn't seem like he has a lot of inner turmoil or conflict about things, meanwhile kirk is going through it at all times. not to constantly compare the two but. well, i just did
troi: the most beautiful woman in the world i'm such a whore when i look at her. when she got a real uniform i whooped and hollered and when she become a COMMANDER bitch?!?!?! i really do wish they did more with her character she had sooooooo much potential with being half-betazed and they never really give it the exploration it deserves, they use it when its convenient and forget when it isn't. i feel like if we had gotten one more season she could have really shined but they were like i know let's spend the last couple of episodes we have with her making her date worf i guess. also why did they give her mom so much trauma. that wasn't nice.
worf: i grew to like him more and more as the show went on, like whenever i would realize the episode i was watching was going to be a worf-focused episode i would get excited. he's one of those unintentionally funny characters which makes him entertaining, but i also find it interesting seeing the way he balances his klingon heritage with his role as a starfleet officer. i love how much he loves being a klingon, and how he always wants to teach other people about it and let them, in turn, learn more about him. he cares deeply and he tries hard even if he doesn't get it right. i know he's in ds9 so i'm happy to see more of him when i finally get to that
riker: we didn't get enough of him tbh. it felt like there would be multiple season gaps between his solo episodes. like for someone who is the first officer he didn't feel very relevant to the show, they stopped caring about his character after a while. he would have maybe a small arc in certain episodes but he was mostly there because he had to be? maybe the sporadic way i watched is effecting my memory on this. but i really like him, i think he's funny and i like his rogue tendencies.
geordi: we also didn't get enough of geordi. i love him but i feel like i barely know anything about him. but i love how genuinely kind and caring he is, and he's also in the scotty position of "the ship would fall apart without him" i feel like every episode picard would be like geordi fix this! help! also i wish he would have kissed the android.
data: hey it's the android. i love this dude. however i am getting a little overexposed to the dude and i know the movies are only going to continue that. idk why by s6-7 they were like "we're out of ideas for data. what if he liked killing and hurt his crewmates and was maybe evil" which is so lazy. like it would all somehow get resolved by the end and everyone would just move on like data wasn't a genocide machine two minutes ago. the finale reminded me of the way data used to be, where he would constantly ask people questions and say obvious things, and i realized i really missed that. he has dreams and shit now he's not really as compelling. he's been a human to me from day 1 so they didn't need to do all that. however brent spiner continues to be very funny.
beverly: um she certainly was there. don't get me wrong i like her but i feel like i never had any strong attachment to her. she didn't get many solo episodes and the last one i can remember (with the fucking. ghost?) was not good. yeah i can't really think of anything else to say. she's fine.
wesley: ok i know he like left the show after a certain point but i would be remiss to mention again that his arc did not end in a good way and he should get to take a NAP why does he have to keep being SO SPECIAL. also why does anyone ever hate this kid he was like 12 he literally was so non offensive to the show. but i did really like every time he came back after wil wheaton left i feel like wesley brings a new perspective to the show that is needed.
honorable mention ro laren: she's my icon right now so i feel like i have to mention her. i would have loved to see more of her in the show, i found her character really compelling and complex. i liked how she was always a bit of a bitch. i'm on the fence of how i feel about her arc ending, i feel like the episode with geordi and the one where she was turned into a kid both were made to help her feel more like the enterprise could be a home for her. they didn't give me much reason to believe otherwise? i don't care about her leaving, i liked that both her and wesley left starfleet even if the show didn't have the time or capacity to explore it, but i didn't fully believe her reasoning. but i loved every time she was there.
i have probably forgotten. many things. i was in the sun all day and maybe have heat exhaustion. but i'm starting generations in like 10 minutes and i realized i needed to make this post before i watched it. thank you for coming along on this year-long journey of me watching tng. we did it boys

Hello! It's not an ask or anithing. I just readed your pinned post and wanted to say thank you for supporting Ukraine. I'm Ukrainian and it's really importent and valuable for me to see that there is someone who UNDERSTANDS. It's so painful to see how tumblr-people interact with russians as usual, support them. paing commisions ( which literally pays for the bombs that destroy the houses of peaceful Ukrainians). Even if they know about all russian war crimes, gen*cide, crimes after chirldren, bombing of hospices, orphanages and hospitals they still chit-chat with russians, comforting them and paying money (I tell myself that not everyone realizes that this money will go to the taxes with which russia buys weapons, but...). Ugh. It's just painful. Sometimes I just desperate and think that no one cares about Ukrainians. That the whole world ok with sacrifising Ukraine so they could be blind on rissian crimes forever. And your pinned post gave me hope. Thank you for this moment. Wish you a nice day! <3
Слава Україні!
Dear Anon, first of all, I want to thank your country for protecting the safety of Europe and democracy against the terrorist state that is ruZZia, which has no connection to democracy and anything connected with humanity because they don't respect human rights, women, children, lgbt+ pp, animals and the environment, they don't evern respect Africa and the countries they pretend to be allied with, while they send their mercenaries to stage coups and oppress locals to steal their resources. And if some follower disagrees unfollow me because I don't tolerate anything less than 100% support of Ukraine against ruSSia.
long rambling text ahead.
I'm not very active in fandoms right now because I'm following what's happening in your country most of the time, and I'm not active on my personal blog where I was a lot, reblogging Ukraine content, because I'm reading and learning. Because my country, Italy, compared to the rest of Europe is the shamefully ideologically closest to that terrorist stateand I'm constantly discovering new propaganda bullshit that I'm trying to explain to those close to me.
I'll tell you a few things about myself and why for me it's so important, for a bit of context, cause I don't want to appear like the western person making everything about her but it is about me in a way, because on 24/2/2022 I received a very bad news and I was devastated. Only seeing what was happening in your country, all those ppl escaping with their pets, put it into perspective, like, no matter what happens to me no enemy is entering my country with tanks, forcing me to leave my home. And because Ukraine for me represents an awakening to the truth, as I was a victim of ruZzian propaganda like most in my country. You know better than me how western ppl think communism is an edgy cool thing, I was not different, I was raised this way, thinking that ussr was a country of equality where everything worked, unlike evil west...that even if stalin was bad, capitalist america was worse and ofc n*zi and f*scism were worse. Actually we are taught in schools that f*scism was horrible (ofc it's true) and communism was the opposite, so it was good. So when I showed my girlfriend, from Moldova, some historical f*scist monument she commented that it had the same vibe as communist ones in her country and I had a cognitive dissonance because wtf? even if she told me things I wasn't 100% convinced, like maybe communism was applied badly in ussr but in cuba it was good. the same cuba where they don't have basic medicines but ok lol. that was italian mentality.
Before rashists invaded Ukraine my girlfriend warned me, she was following the news (she's a russian speaking person, but she supports Ukraine 200%, she is half Ukrainian but her parents are brainwashed zombies so she didn't even tell them about our relationship) I thought it was impossible that in Europe a state invaded another...then it happened. I immediately took Ukraine side, because it's the only possible side to take, and because I was taught what it's like to live under occupation, as my country of idiot assholes during ww2 was first allied with n*zis then f*scist government was overthrown by partisans so we were invaded by n*zis too. So for me it was crazy that our media didn't recognize that Ukraine was living the same hell our grandparents lived, that our novels wrote about. And still they don't. Because they are paid by the terrorist rashist hellhole of a country, that brainwashed its ppl and the rest of the world, taking advantage of our freedom of expression to spread fake news and bullshit, making ppl believe novax and protrump and other crazy movements first, then making them insensitive to what they were doing in Ukraine. It's so crazy I hate it so much....ppl I thought were clever, even favourite singers, support ruZZia indirectly, claiming they're pacifists, against sending weapons to Ukraine, because weapons are bad...like, how stupid can you be to actually believe that war will stop if you don't arm the invaded country instead of the aggressor? They are the ones who should be stopped omg, but ppl believe the nuclear threat, I don't even believe they have functioning nukes, as shitty and corrupted as they are, they're just good at stealing toilets...but they're good at paying foreign countries to spread lies. that's their biggest ability, and I hate lies more than anything...and all the automatic replies you receive when you try to debunk that shit.
Like: but what about 'other oppressed country'? Is it because they're blondes? omg this is so stupid I can't even. First of all not everyone is invested emotionally in all wars...a person living in Africa or Asia will naturally be more involved in a war happening not far from them...or, a person can just feel closer to a country than to another. it's just a way to make ppl feel guilty of being in Europe, preventing them from sending help to Ukraine as they should care about others too. So it's a rashist narrative ppl are just repeating. Like they are repeating 'we want peace' as if putler and his minions are listening.
And I'm sorry to have said 'war' as if your country is not being invaded, your people, children and woman are not being killed, r*ped, tortured, abducted, as if your environment is not being destroyed and so your animals...It's a gen*cide that's happening right now, like you said, and ppl are ok with it, they don't care, they feel sorry for poor ruZZians, as if they're victims, and they are good at playing victims when someone abroad puts them in their place...and online too. I remember a post here, someone was saying pls, don't treat ruZZians like shit, it's not their fault...well, if they didn't ignore what their president was doing, if they didn't protest years ago, he wouldn't have become so powerful now isn't it? But nope, it's russophobia! So much russophobia when they go on vacation everywhere they want, my country included, enjoying food and relax and getting pissed off if they see Ukrainian flags for solidarity! or Ukrainian ppl living abroad because they were forced to escape! So much russophobia when ppl make sure that no one 'discriminates' rashist artists in the fandom because fandoms are not about politics! As if invading a neighbouring country that they oppressed, starved and tried to destroy for centuries is a political thing!
Tbh I can't read or listen to anything ruZZian or vaguely supporting them, because it makes me think about the shit they're doing now, and that they always did, if only I wasn't brainwashed to know. And I don't want to interact with 'good russians' either that much because I saw how 99% of them blames their leader but not their culture, which is based on oppression and imperialism. They don't admit Crimea is not theirs, they get pissed off when in sports or other events they're snubbed (spoiler: they're always making things up on purpose to create cases) and they think navalny is ok and not a white supremacist n*zi narcissist and they think they're better than the other ex soviet countries that were all forced into ussr anyway.
"but not all ruZZians"? First of all they're not like ppl in Iran who bravely stand against their shitty regime, they totally support or ignore theirs. Abroad where they're not threatened no ruzzian ever organized a protest against their own country. And a looot of ruzzians do support putin. Those who write disgusting comments when their missiles strike Ukrainian targets and kill ppl, those who were recorded talking their husbands about what they want them to steal and just being ok with theim r*ping Ukrainian women, those who on vacation in the rotten West criticizing everything, those make the majority of ruZZians, and collective guilt exists. People are all guilty for what their country is doing, like Germans were guilty of what n*zi regime did. Germans aknowledged it and took measures to educate themselves into civilized ppl, they should do the same. After they go back to their country, after they give back ALL territories they took from 2014, after they pay all damages (as if it's possible to pay for lives destroyed).
Meanwhile those who are 'ok' should step back from the spotlight of playing victims, just like those who are sooooo into russian culture should stop whining to not cancel it because it should be until they make things right, whole Ukrainian cilture should be highlighted instead, and also the culture of countries like Georgia, Moldova, Syria, and all those that were invaded by urss. They should he ashamed af. Artists included.
I'm very sorry Anon for such long rambling, but really, for me supporting Ukraine is the most important thing right now :)
Btw I wanted to show you that you all are not alone, that despite rashist tentacles are everywhere, there are ppl who believe in justice and know where justice is and they all support Ukraine. I always take photos of places where I see Ukraine flags, I take pride in seeing that not everyone is a ZZombie. It's not much compared to the support I see in Baltic countries for example, but still. Also, a lot of musicians and singers I like (international ones) support Ukraine, even actors... in Italy it's shamefully the opposite, including my former faves, I stopped listening to anyone who's not on the right side. Anyway last year we had a guy singing a song about a couple separated by the rashist aggression. Even Antytila congratulated him...I include the video even if you might not like the song (I don't as it's not my genre) because you'll feel the support anyway...

WHAT IS MY CAT
Hey, so I have a Cat Question (or more like a Cat Request, really) and was hoping the science (??) side of tumblr, or cat identifying side of tumblr, or something like that, could help?
So, I got my cat Mikey (Michelangelo Mayhem Apollo *last name*) in January of 2022. The vets estimated she was about 3 months old. She was found by a family friend we met through my grandma, who is a manager at a vet clinic herself. Unfortunately, her areas of expertise are horses and dogs, so she could only help so much. I'm looking to find out what breeds Mikey may have in her.
Physically, Mikey has only gotten stranger (and cuter, ofc) as she's gotten older. She is a looong cat. She's got longer legs than my roommates' male cat at 1 year old. Her tail is much longer than other cats I've been around too, about the length of her torso. Despite that, she's not very big. She's skinny, and pretty small compared to our medium sized male cat back home.
She's also got big ears. I thought she'd grow into them, but they still look kinda big compared to our other cats. They even have the slightest hint of a tuft coming off the ends, but I think that's more likely to be her long-ish fur.
That's another thing- her fur. I say long-ISH because it's not quite domestic-long-hair-long. The vet called her a domestic medium hair, which I didn't know was a thing. She's a calico, with half of her face being black, the other (right) side being orange, and a cute white strip down her nose leading to her white chin and chest. Her fur pattern is pretty regular for a calico, but that's not even the weird part-
Her fur is CRAZY soft. Like, for the longest I thought my fluffy grey and white tabby, Loki, was the softest I'd ever felt, but she takes the cake over any of mine, or my friends, or any alley cats I've had the pleasure of petting. The best I can describe it is like- you know when kittens are real little? Their coats aren't fully grown in and their fur is almost like down on a baby duck or smth- all fuzzy and soft as a cloud and sticking out everywhere. It's like that, even as she's grown a little, all the time. It lays down mostly now, and looks more silky than downy, but the softness is still there. Still, it's not all that thick. My roommates short hair is so much denser, where as Mike's hair seems so light. I've even had other cat owner friends comment on it, wondering why she was so soft ("but silky? Like, not fuzzy. Loki is fuzzy, but she's silky. Its weird")
Jumping back to bone structure and how long she is, though, she's got a long face, too. Not quite like a Siamese or Oriental breed, her nose is much longer than any of my other cats. My dad says her face looks like a lizard or a dragon, while my other cat's face is like a racoon (Idk man he's weird). Either way, she does have a sort of long, more harsh bone leading to her nose that reminds me of those two breeds I mentioned before, and they do also have long limbs and ears, but she just looks too different from them for that to be all she is. She is definitely a mix.
Tumblr media
(If you read this far, here's a pic. Sorry for holding out on you.)
Now, let us discuss Michael's... strange... attitude.
She is a sweetheart. And when I say that, I really mean it. She's very vocal, and greets me every time I open my door. She purrs all the time, even when she's just looking at me. I love her so so so much god.
She is also insane. She yells a LOT. She never (or rather hasn't??) Grown out of that high pitched kitten meow even though she's over a year old. I think she just likes talking. I know Orientals are also known for being super vocal, so maybe that's got something to do with it, but there's more to it. She still acts like a kitten, running around SO much more than my other cats. Her "zoomies" are frequent, and while she isn't attacking my feet under the covers constantly anymore (my first 6 months with her were hell and I have the scars to prove it), she IS still PARKOURING OFF OF WALLS??? AND SHE'S ONLY GETTING BETTER AT IT. I swear she gets both feet on there, catapulting herself off like. On x games mode for real.
But yeah, she still acts like a kitten, mostly. Still looks like one a bit. I have a sneaking suspicion she could be a slow maturing breed, or at least a mix of one with something else, but I'm not sure what breed that would be.
Also, important note: she acts like a dog. She "talks" like one, plays fetch like one (she taught herself), and her romping with other cats really does just seem more like puppy play. She trots around like a little horse too, which isn't that important but it's very cute. And she's just so smart. Like I said, taught herself fetch (which isn't as uncommon as you may think, apparently), and can even PLAY GAMES that she MAKES UP.
Once, when I was at my first university, my dad came up to visit. I wanted to show him she could fetch as she'd just learned recently, and when I threw it she excitedly chased it and... brought it back to my dad instead of me. So, okay, fine, she just doesn't wanna play with me. Be that way. Except, the next time she brought it to me. And then to dad, and then to me again. And it became clear she was doing that on purpose. But soon, she broke the pattern, and picked dad over me again. I assumed we were all done and pretended I wasn't betrayed, but NO. She then proceeded to bring it back twice in a row to ME, and then to him twice, and the me again. Like, I know that's not that impressive. But my other cats don't even know what to do with their toys besides bat them around. It was big for a little kitten to be making up games and shit. Maybe she's just extra creative, idk, but it was wild. She still fetches to this day, until her balls all unraveled and she can get a new one.
Anyway, she's just. Such a weirdo. She's terrified of the car (it makes her carsick, but it didn't when she was younger), and she's scared of outside despite her curiosity(the lady who found her lived pretty remote. I got her because I thought she was affectionate and calm. Turns out she was just sick, and actually is insane! But very affectionate still. My mom has a theory that she fears going outside because she was sick and alone in the cold woods for a while as a baby.)
Alright. I think that's it? Idk I'm long-winded as hell and I'm sorry for that. But I hope someone may know some breeds who are known for her physical traits, and maybe these personality traits as well? We'll see. So anyway, thanks for meeting Mikey! Feel free to call her any iteration of Michael (Myers, Afton, Jackson, B. Jackson, Jordan, whatever floats your boat.)
Here's some more pics :)

23 and 43 for the ask game thingy please and thank u
Hello there! Thanks for the ask! :D
23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?
Answered here!
43. If you take/write prompts: what’s your favorite prompt fic that you’ve written?
Ooh this is hard! Why must I choose between my babies?? I've participated in many a fest and prompt event. Orange Blossoms was an indulgence of flowers and poetry (for HP Flowers AND my birthday!) Lover Boy At Play is to this day the most self-indulgent bit of hotness I ever wrote, written for Kinktober 2021. In fact, I'm very fond of most of my Kinkuary & Kinktober works!
But in the end I think it really comes down to 2 fest works.
Collateral Damage was written for Draco-Ron Fest 2021. It was a headache and a half to create. (In fact my first draft got to 10k words before I scrapped the whole thing and started fresh.) (Version 2, which is what is posted, ended up at 16k!) It was such a struggle to get through, but in the end I had a product I was beyond proud of!
The prompt was great. Probably my favorite prompt I've ever seen. I won't share it here since the prompt itself spoils the story a bit, but if you're very curious you can find it at the bottom of the fic itself. A friend of mine left that prompt, actually! And the moment I saw it I knew it had to be mine. It helped that, because I was friends with the prompter, they'd be thrilled with certain plot points I had in mind. I'd never had a prompt inspire me to quite that level before. Self-prompts, sure. Prompts from others? Never! I am to this day incredibly in love with that fic. Which is pretty big considering it's not my OTP!
It was a great indulgence of angst and miscommunication and inner turmoil. While also having fun with the characters. They're such a mess! Draco super bratty and dramatic, and a fun blend of insecure and vain. Then Ron this charming and funny guy who is also very oblivious and temperamental. It's a more lighthearted, fun version of the enemies to lovers dynamic that I don't often get with Snarry. Much as I love it, my OTP can be much too much sometimes!
It does make me unsure if I should write Dron again, though. I did it so well already! I'm not sure anything I write can ever compare. (Though it's not stopped me with a certain other ship, so...maybe I'll get over that hesitance one day!)
A Matter of Time was written for Snarry Adopt-a-Prompt and was posted early January 2022. While Collateral Damage was a fun spot of drama, this was a tragedy. And while the prompt for Dron spoke to me right away, I had a harder time narrowing down AAP prompts, and even once I did I had to tinker around with what, exactly, I wanted to do.
It was a different sort of structure than I normally write. Alternating POVs as well as reverse chronology. And I had it open-ended on top of that! I got to indulge in a bit of outsider perspective, and a secret (taboo) romance. It sort of delved into this awful situation without ever really resolving it. Also, I am dang proud of how it ended. Wow. Talk about a knife to the heart. (Of course I'd be proud of that, haha!)
Also...can we talk about the smut???? Very hot. Few people talk about that. Probably because on the whole it's a very depressing fic and most people are caught up in how depressing it is, but gosh dang it, that smut was good!
Anyway...it was another challenge to write, though it feels less oppressive than certain other fics. If only because I took breaks to write a comedy at the same time (Welcome to the Family for Rare Pair Fest.) It lightened my spirits enough to be able to reach the end without too much of a migraine. And in the end, I had a story I was stupidly proud of. And I considered it my best work until I posted Contempt later that same year!
(Also, I know I was supposed to stop signing up for fests, but...my best works came out of fests!!!! I did not need that to click in my brain now, oh no.)

DWC November 2022 Day 6: Home/Unnatural
Tumblr media
"I tried to warn you. Multiple times. But you're a grown man, in theory."
"'Ow was I sposed t' know 'ow long it'd been? Time passes funny in there! You know it does!"
"And yet, somehow, I've never spent so much time in the Dream as to have your questionably problematic problem."
"Your biological clock is gnome-manufactured; mine is a sundial from a farm."
"I really don't think anyone's going to mind, Leon."
"I mean... as alterations go, it coulda been worse, I guess? I mean, look at Malfurion, right?"
"Malfurion Stormrage is one of the greatest druids the Night Elves have ever produced, if not the greatest on Azeroth, and you would do well not to make fun of him."
"Okay but 'e totally does look a bit ridiculous if y' think about it too long."
"...Fine, yes. I'll grant you that much. Regardless, it's nothing to be dramatic about. If you hadn't made such a fuss about it in the first place, half the grove wouldn't even have noticed to begin with."
"Vember, 'alf th' grove doesn't notice what month it is."
"That's hardly relevant."
"Th' other 'alf is asleep."
"Leon. It's fine. Go home."
"I'm goin', I'm goin!"
"And give my best to your lovely fiancé, who's been terribly patient with you this whole time!"
"Long as y' give yer beau my blessin's in return, y' brat."
"I love you too, little brother."
As with most things, Vember was right about that parting shot; Valarin had been so very, very patient about his time away from home. The cabin visits had done well to stave off the...not completely unjustified fears his elven love harbored, but they weren't enough to chase away the almost tangible need to see one another. Engagement had a way of making that need so much stronger.
Leon had been looking forward to going home for good, because of course he had, but there was still a sense of sadness when he looked back at the barrow he'd shared with his adoptive sister for the last handful of years. She'd been as much a mentor as anyone else in the Dreamgrove, if not more so, because she was family and she knew him well enough to cut through his bullshit better than anyone else there. She was the only one, besides perhaps his feral shan'do Bollad, who could get him to admit he'd grown adept as a druid. He wasn't sure about Bollad because Bollad hadn't tried.
Walking the Dream was... an experience. No matter how many times he did it, no matter how easily it came to him now, there was always a brief sense of disconnection followed immediately by immersion. He felt both more and less real, though he knew the Dream was more. Though it was the place where Druids went to gain insight, to grow, to cement their place in the great balance, he understood immediately how it could be so easy to lose one's place entirely there. How easily one could forget how to wake up, and believe that they had always been as they were in the Dream. How that existence wasn't an unhappy one, for the dreamer.
Leon had brushed up against that twice in his time with the Dreamweavers. The first time, he almost fell straight into it like a warm blanket. The shock of it had been enough to crank his vigilance up to eleven, and he'd done much better in the following months. Visiting his friends and lovers by way of their dreams was great fun, but it was also good practice.
The second time, he had to actively fight it, and the effort was comparable to trying to take off his own skin in one piece without a knife. When he'd emerged he was...different.
Emotionally, of course; that was to be expected. But also there'd been a slight change. He really didn't know what to call it--unnatural was inaccurate, since nothing was more natural than the Dream, but it wasn't correct, either.
As he approached the cabin in Bradensbrook for the last time, trying to figure out who would be waiting for him there, he thought for a moment he was being followed. It took him several increasingly unsettled stops and checks before he thought to look down, and realized the problem.
The clicking noise on the cobbles was coming from him. He could only laugh a slightly nervous, embarrassed little laugh and move on.
He'd explain the talons when they asked about them. Not before.

2 and a half years worth of Blue Horizon book 1 pitches (mostly Pitlight) [and a bit of light novel and book 2]
Tumblr media
The first "pitch" ever, and it mostly dealt with draft 1 of Blue Horizon book 1--back when in my mind I fancied writing a simple novella with the dads, Ranvir and Armando, before tackling an epic novel project after that (but that's now book 2).
I realized a lot in the process of figuring out book 1 through 2020 and 2021, however, and it quickly grew into a monster of a project--yet another epic science fantasy book for the series in my head. In my head I think of it as "the prequel novel." However I've long called it "book 1" online, so it'll stay "book 1." (It is complete but not yet published.)
Some parts of the pitch above barely has anything to do with book 1 as it is now...for Ranvir and Armando and friends. Weirdly, it might work for characters who show up later within book 1.
The moodboard above I'm very fond of as the first moodboard ever, and it involved the Chandrani family's energy re: ocean and water as well as a concept for "a wide open world." However I rarely wound up using it compared to the later regulars. (And apparently never for pitch practice again or any pitch event.)
A big note for all pitches is that any photography is by someone else and gotten from free-to-use stock image sites like Pexel and Unsplash BUT any drawn art is mine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above is the first times I tried bringing up the eerie aspect AND the soft aspect of Blue Horizon book 1. This was my experimental stage in all ways--a pitch with a mood and my first attempt at a "typical" moodboard, though obviously I wound up dropping these moodboards immediately. As can be seen with the moodboards I would settle on hereafter, I did need this stage to understand what I really wanted to go for!
As for the pitches--in the former, it basically revolves around the way the reader first walks into the novel, so to speak. In the second, it hints something about Ranvir and Armando, and brings up the Protector of Worlds without naming the role.
Tumblr media
THIS WAS THE FIRST DEBUT OF MY MAIN 2 MOODBOARDS!!! And the first Pitlight I ever took part of in 2022. It somehow got to 23 notes without retweets (that 1 is for a quote retweet).
Tumblr media
This was a quick Nanowrimo write-up--I can tell why people didn't take to it, but I guess in terms of pitches, I was learning and it didn't really matter, especially in the early days. Currently I'm doing Camp Sapphic instead.
Tumblr media
This was the first time I referred to the Protector (of Worlds). It's technically a typical storyline across epic fantasies and many other types of stories--a "chosen one," so to speak, but in reality this is a job that's passed from person-to-person in their world, and was once representative of their place in the galaxy.
Tumblr media
So this pitch very much focused on Ranvir and Armando right as I was finishing up Part 1, which is largely THEIR story arc! I'm very affectionate of it.
For a few posts in the early days, I kept reusing the first digital Armando and Ranvir art I ever drew. ; v ;
Tumblr media
This was the first time I brought up the Mysterious Children (they keep appearing before Ranvir and Armando at different ages). This wasn't the first time I utilized this moodboard--the first time was January 2022!
But as people can tell at this point, this moodboard actually represents Alejandro Altaha and Antonio Chandrani-Rivera! Specifically, the sun, moon, lavender clouds, and the white clouds with shadowed figures skating across them with a teal sky surrounding--the shadowed figures are Ale and Tono.
I reused the same pitch for the later November Nano:
Tumblr media
--this year however I'm doing Camp Sapphic and have let go of Nanowrimo due to its controversies. Edit in the evening is that this was the first time I got an agent like!
Even though this was extremely exciting and kept me going, I'm solo self-publishing Blue Horizon.
Next, back to summer 2022 pitches:
Tumblr media
This was something I was hoping people would like, and in the end wound up one of my most popular pitches! :D This focuses on the warmer side of Blue Horizon and brings up a key character we all know by now--Antonio Chandrani-Rivera--for the first time!
(I'm unsure how much agents can gauge from this pitch, but I do like the feeling of it though and thus obviously used it for Pitlight.)
The rest under a cut because honestly I'll admit this is insane long.
Tumblr media
This was the first time I brought up the children borne by magic lore! I forgot I did that when I looked back at old posts like 2 weeks ago. I'm actually surprised it got 11 likes, as I wasn't sure how people would see the children borne by magic subplot. Noticeable through the webcomic already!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So these two pitches are nearly identical; I was just worried one of the first pitch wasn't specific enough. However the first pitch got more retweets, likes and views, LOL. (It's an interesting situation--I think sometimes you wind up lucky with pitches.)
It'll become noticeable that I wanted to start referring to Antonio and Alejandro's conflicts, but Layla and Alia are major characters too, and thus I tried to put Layla in as well. However, at one point, people mentioned Layla comes off a bit random at the end of these sort of pitches. :"3c I do get that, but aw...
Overall, I realized what was best to focus on--Ranvir and Armando and their son (a.k.a. a direct connection) Antonio Chandrani.
Tumblr media
MY FIRST OFFICIAL AGENT-RELATED PITCH EVENT... QueerPit! Official pitch events have been sporadic on Twitter since around 2022 but I was happy to catch this one.
Since I wound up emailing a lot of agents I decided not to take part in that many official agent-oriented pitch events in the end--my last was only my second one I believe, a.k.a. DVPit (unless I've blanked out another agent-oriented pitch event on Twitter). Those I won't show here directly from DVPit on Discord but from what I dropped for Twitter afterwards.
Tumblr media
FOR THIS ONE... It was the first time I ever pitched... THE LIGHT NOVEL (also completed but unpublished). Just wanted to try.
Tumblr media
This wasn't a real pitch exactly, and I dropped it on Twitter on September 28, 2023! However, this was the first time I brought up the scope of the epic science fantasy book 1 and its LGBT romances. My last Main pitch for Blue Horizon back a few days ago focuses on that too.
Tumblr media
SO THIS IS THE FIRST OF 2 NEW PITCHES THAT I CRAFTED FOR BOOK 1 IN THE DVPIT SERVER ON DISCORD FOR THE OFFICIAL AGENT-ORIENTED PITCH EVENT, DVPIT...
For some reason neither were very popular on Twitter, but I like both of them a lot. My guess is due to the decision to try using a video for this one and a cropped art for the other one. [I did get agent likes...for the pitch I reused from QueerPit 😂 (which thankfully also got agent likes). However, I'm solo self-publishing Blue Horizon, as most of y'all know.]
Tumblr media
Above is the first moment I was stressed, but thankfully by early this month I wound up cheery again.
Tumblr media
So this was my first serious dud pitch after a very long time (i.e. my first Nano in March 2022). This one isn't the one I dropped on the actual NYEPitch day (also 1 like)--I'm embarrassed to show that one, but I was excited over people having fun about sun mage OCs at that time around the original day of January 1, and didn't think about terminology (I paid attention for my book)--since I use the term "water-bearer" and "ocean-bearer" a lot in my book, I ORIGINALLY used the term "bearer of the sun" for Alejandro [who's part of a binary star system] and "moon-and-sea-bearer" for Antonio in the pitch. (I do not use anything near "bearer of the sun" within Blue Horizon's epic fantasy books as I don't want to use similar terminology used in a popular published book.) I realized my mistake very late and changed it on January 5th, after 4 days! There's also the fact that this wasn't a pitch for book 1--I wanted to relax and try a first and second-to-last pitch for book 2~
However, thankfully that started my artist adventure because I got gloomy over only getting 1 like for the original and decided I wanted to destress.
I think it's also partly due to my showing up late and not participating with others due to it (I was feeling nasty tbh), possible shadowban (my posts at this time started plummeting in views compared to before in the months prior), and not specifying in the post that it isn't a sudden change from book 1 pitching, but a random attempt at a book 2 pitch.
It's because I got really emotional over finishing a story arc between Antonio and Alejandro for book 2, essentially.
Tumblr media
THIS WAS THE SECOND DVPIT PITCH I CRAFTED IN THE DVPIT SERVER, AKA FOR THE OFFICIAL AGENT-ORIENTED EVENT... The only change from DVPit server is that I used Antonio's surname there, a.k.a. used Antonio Chandrani.
This IS about book 1; the epic science fantasy is a multi-POV book. I liked this one too, but I'm guessing either Antonio's depression era POV or the cropped-looking art made it not appetizing? This pitch is essentially a flip in perspective to Ranvir and Armando's perspective, and done partly due to my admitting that obviously Antonio Chandrani-Rivera (and Layla Chandrani) are the "traditional" main protagonists (though it's a very ensemble cast-oriented epic science fantasy book [and comic]).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was for ChaosPit. Pitch as badly as you can, iirc.
SOOOOO AFTER A LOT OF STRESS AFTER AUGUST... I'M GLAD MY LAST PITLIGHT AND PITCH EVENT FOR BLUE HORIZON WENT OFF WITH A BANG...!!! On April 6th:
Tumblr media
FOR THIS LAST MAIN PITCH FOR BOOK 1, I really really wanted to show off the "epic science fantasy" scale as well as mention tons of BIPOC and LGBT characters existing in it! (Calling back to that earlier proto-pitch.) I'M REALLY GLAD IT WAS WELL-LIKED.
I liked being able to use those emojis, too! They just feel like they give implications and have a weird or '90's clipart vibe together.
Tumblr media
This is still the same Pitlight! I just wanted to try pitching the completed (but unpublished) light novel before I stopped pitching for Blue Horizon. Surprised and glad it was liked more than I expected! :D
Tumblr media
Since it was my last time pitching for Blue Horizon after 2 and a half years, I wanted to drop one pitch for Book 2~! The first story arc is pretty serious but I thought it'd be an interesting note for anyone curious about Blue Horizon book 1 and the light novel.
AND FINALLY... I originally wanted a "cyclical" ending to all those months and even years pitching by utilizing my first Pitlight pitch ever (which was never reused in the interim).
Tumblr media
It would've looked dreamy like this. However, I f*cked up the pitch due to changing the first sentence BUT MAKING A HUGE ERROR. LAST PITLIGHT WAS FUN. That's all!

'ARENA INTERVIEW'
(Please don't think too much Jongsuk-ssi, another heartfelt and honest Lee Jong Suk interview)
L👀K: Lee Jong Suk graces the cover of Arena Homme+ for 2022 December Issue
Must Read: Lee Jong Suk's new start
Actor Lee Jong Suk played Park Chang-ho in the MBC drama <Big Mouth>. <Big Mouth> is a drama that recorded high viewership ratings this year, and is Lee Jong Suk's successful return to drama. This year, he said, he had a fresh start as an actor.

(Chalk stripe detail wool blend coat by Giorgio Armani.)
It is a reunion with <Arena> after a year. At the time of the last interview, you started filming <Big Mouth> and <Decibel>, and now it's your turn to ask how you feel after finishing the work.
This year seems to have been the year of reaping the seeds sown last year.
Let's start with <Big Mouth>. It was a drama like K-pop. There was a harmony of various genres in <Big Mouth> where various genres were intertwined and naturally connected.
As the narrative progressed, the genre changed, and it was a drama that combined different genres. Park Chang-ho, whom I played, was also a formal character at first, but in the latter half he became a noir character. If I had to pick one thing that was difficult during the filming of <Big Mouth>, it was Park Chang-ho's justification in the second half.
I thought from the viewer's point of view whether Park Chang-ho's actions were justified, but in the second half, there was only one section to show Park Chang-ho's true appearance. right. The second half moved very quickly. Not twice, but only once. I should have explained that Park Chang-ho originally had good brains, but was unlucky, or that he was a little cute and had a different side. So, I put a bit of an overface on my acting. In the play, the character is bound to change depending on the situation as he is swept away by the incident, but it was not easy to digest as it developed through repeated reversals.
What made you decide to appear in <Big Mouth>?
It was because of his friendship with director Oh Choong-hwan, who directed it. In the drama <While You Were Sleeping>, the breathing matched well and it was so good. So after thinking about it together, I decided to appear in <Big Mouth>. The biggest trigger is my trust in the director. Park Chang-ho's character has nothing, but borrows the strength of others to overcome adversity. That point was different from other characters and interesting.
But Park Chang-ho is really good at fighting. How do lawyers fight so well?
Yes. So, in the second half of the second part, there was a scene that felt like a black comedy. Park Chang-ho has never punched, but it is set up that he was originally in the sports club. Since he came from an athletic club, he wondered if he would be good at fighting.
Compared to other works by Lee Jong Suk, there are many suitable scenes. Too many were right. In particular, in the prison scene, there was a scene where he was beaten while lying on the floor, and there was also a scene where he was hanged.
There were many difficult sections. It claims to be noir, but it's still a drama, so I wondered if I could express it to this extent. There were scenes where he died after hanging himself and then came back to life, and there were many near deaths. It was hard but it was fun.
Tumblr media
(Chalk stripe detail wool blend coat by Giorgio Armani.)
These days, public TV drama ratings are not high. The reason is that there are many platforms. Nevertheless, <Big Mouth> had consistently high ratings, and the final episode reached 13.7%. At this level, isn't this the drama of the year?
I'm glad I received a lot of love. It was a comeback, so it was a lot of pressure. And it wasn't the kind of work I'm best at, so I was worried. Still, the results were good, so I'm glad I did. There is also a sense of satisfaction that I came out with something a little different and borne fruit to this extent.
If Park Chang-ho had been played by another actor, would he have felt the exhilaration he has now?
It was uncertain. I don't think Park Chang-ho is the perfect role for Lee Jong-suk. Not. He was very different from me, so he had a lot of difficulties. I often think like that. I didn't know it before, but I get a lot of help from the staff I work with, and I received a lot of help from the martial arts team as well as the coach.
What was the most physically challenging moment?
I tore my knee ligaments while filming an action scene. I finished filming that day and went to the emergency room. The hospital said the ligaments were completely torn. Originally, I was worried about what to do with my knee because I had a bad knee, but fortunately I didn't injure a bone, so I took a break for about a week and finished filming while wearing a knee brace. There were so many rough scenes that I was worried. I couldn't even walk properly, but there was a pole vault scene. He was trained in pole vaulting, but his form was unstable as he tried to run with an injured knee. The knee condition was the most difficult.
I am also curious about the breathing with the actors who appeared together. There were many fresh characters in <Big Mouth>.
With actress Yoona, there was only about one scene per episode. This time, she was often filmed with prison seniors rather than heroines. Senior Song Kyung-chul is a very adult, but she had good chemistry. She was like a father and an older brother even on set. That's why we often see each other even after the work is finished.
Filming in prison created something of a tight bond. Also, the characters in the prison may feel a bit unrealistic, a little floating, but the seniors made it realistic.
are in their mid 30's It's time to expand and deepen myself. So, what is actor Lee Jong Suk's concern right now?
He thinks that he should grow old as slowly as possible, both physically and mentally. He's heading into his mid-30s as an actor, so he has to be different from what he's been doing before. It is true that he needs to expand. In that sense, I chose <Big Mouth>. Now that the work is finished, I have a lot of worries about what to do next. I haven't been able to find any answer. What should I do?

Tumblr media
(The waffle cupro two-button jacket, silk blend velvet shirt, and wool blend gray pants are all Giorgio Armani products.)
What to do when you don't know what is right? Wouldn't it be possible to live as you please?
You must have your own. You have to have your own color, your own substance, and something that is unique to you. have to do with it I'm looking for that kernel now.
When you think of actor Lee Jong Suk, there is a character that comes to mind. Isn't that proof that Lee Jong-suk has a secret identity?
There is a saying that 'unjust Lee Jong Suk does not appear in Korean dramas'. That's the image of actor Lee Jong Suk, and while it's fun, I wonder if it was me, and I think a lot.
Lee Jong Suk is also known as a sincere drama viewer. As an actor, when he watches a drama, is there an element that he sees as an occupational disease?
He used to have trouble watching dramas. I was substituted, and it felt like work. He did not fully enjoy the work. Now I just enjoy watching it. Watching it comfortably makes the drama feel new. After watching this drama, if there is a new drama that started, look for it again. It definitely made me feel at ease. It's good that there's a lot of content these days.
It's good from the point of view, but from the point of view of making, isn't the market more intense?
Yes. However, from an actor's point of view, it can be said that the content has increased and the opportunities to act have increased. In the past, there were only 3 broadcasting companies, and there were monthly mini-series and Wednesday-Thursday dramas. Now, I wonder if a good work is better because in the end, somehow people watch it and applaud it.
Also, from the viewer’s point of view, a week passes quickly if there are only two interesting dramas. The week is enriched. I am happiest when I spend my time waiting for my favorite drama to air. I am also a member of creating content, but when I am not working, I am no different from any other viewer.

Talking about acting again, how do you find a breakthrough when acting doesn't go well?
I had tried to find it somehow before. Now we have come to the stage where we trust the people who make it together. There is a director, so I ask for advice on which direction is right, and ask seniors. Try this, and ask to go one more time differently.
Couldn't it be more difficult after discussing with the director?
There are times like that. It was a monologue, and the director asked what you would say if you were that character. At that time, he wrote his first lines himself. The process of writing my own lines while acting was fun. The writer who wrote the scenario should also imagine and create various narratives when putting this character on the actor, but at that time, the effort to build the character together was new to me.
Since this is the December issue, I have a common question. What year do you think 2022 will be remembered for?
It was a year of fresh start as an actor. As an individual, there were no big episodes, but there was a lot of emotional agitation. Now that I'm really in my mid-30s, I think I need to become a little more mature.
As you get older, you go through sad things and put yourself in a position where you have to take responsibility.
I think a lot about the need to adopt an adult attitude. It's a time when no one says anything, but I think it should be.

I've been rewatching the How to Train your Dragon series again and Astrid has been on my mind with how she potentially parallels Hiccup in the first movie.
So to start off I do believe that Astrid was meant to be another example of a "hiccup" but one that threw herself to the mold of viking life instead of trying to adapt or reinvent it like Hiccup. That's why she's so small despite being the best warrior of her age. Add into the fact that it is hinted that there is a famine going on in the first movie when Stoick says that "...winter is coming and I have a whole village to feed."
And as we later learn Astrid's family is not high up at all on the hierarchy. As revelaed to us in Riders of Berk Astrid's family name is in shambles. After her uncle Finn was frozen and killed by the Flightmare her family was seen as nothing but a joke. So more than likely that girl is not getting as much as the other families depending how Berk deals out their food storage.
A small viking who is seen as a joke or not taken very seriously by the tribe who does that remind you of?
The key difference between these two is social status. Say what you will but Hiccup is the son of the chief and heir to the tribe. That automatically gives him a privilege of respect from all the other villagers. Also from what we have seen in the deleted scenes and flashbacks between Stoick and young Hiccup he actually had a pretty loving childhood. I'm willing to bet that things started to go down hill when Stoick needed Hiccup to take his responsibilities and training as heir seriously and when he didn't that's when the village respect for him as heir went down. (Now don't get me wrong I love Hiccup and Stoick should not have let things come to the way they did. But it's 2022, it's time to admit how immature Hiccup was for the first half of the first movie. )
Now lets compare that to Astrid who has watched her family name become a joke. There is no automatic privilege for her based on her family, its actually the opposite and other villagers probably never expected anything from her. She has to work her ass off for even a chance to fix the Hofferson name. That's why wining dragon training is so important to her. To her it's the chance to bring her family out of the shadow of shame her uncle unknowingly brought.
Then dragon training happens and these two clash. Astrid's traditional ways vs Hiccup's adaption.
At first it seems like Hiccup's adaption wins out but as the series progresses you can see some of those traditonal viking ways peak out of Hiccup. I like to think that's at least partially Astrid's influence.
They both mature and grow until we get our new viking chief and chieftess, who all of Berk respects.

Inuyasha is the story of an underdog who is going through the process of learning self acceptance. He struggled and sometimes nearly died for every upgrade he got. He could not even pull or use the Tetsusaiga on his own. Inuyasha is interesting because both the main protagonist and antagonist hate themselves and want to change what they are for different reasons.
Princess half demon is a female power fantasy starring 2 Mary Sues and an Inukag kid. Setsuna is good at everything. Towa is handed everything. There is no struggle. There is no blood. Towa gets inconvenienced at best for every power up she gets. She is also boring, whiny and overpowered.
indeed! Inuyasha's narrative differs quite differently from the next generation's, and thus received a different primary weapon that suited him to that purpose. however, that doesn't change the fact that he was also pretty ridiculous in the power up department as the story demanded. I could talk about this for a long time, but Inuyasha was not a traditional shounen story. Inuyasha is an amazing protagonist i've grown up with- but let's not pretend it's not pretend that the deus exes didn't fall at his feet.
now i can talk a lot about this, because Inuyasha isn't a traditional shounen and was RT's first serious story and suffered rom issues in regards to pacing and the like, and how much Tessaiga sincerely compliments Inuyasha's own journey: but as we compare shounen protagonists, it is funny that we try to claim Towa has so many power-ups as her uncle when she can do... all of three things, and still got her ass kicked by the main antagonist.
"there's no blood" OG anime cut out a TON of blood compared to the manga. Yashahime airs at a young time. weird complaint.
"female power fantasy" ok i'm gonna chose to ignore that very potential can of yikes because i can't tell how earnest you're being or if you just worded htat really badly. granted though it's going to be 2022 in less than 12 hours and i don't trust people who say that and call strong female characters mary sues but:
"2 Mary Sues and an Inukag kid" LMAOOOOOOOOO
i'm sorry, like Moroha didn't pull more techniques out of her ass??? the girl who can use advanced spiritual powers her mom never got to use during her own quest despite the fact she has been RAISED by yokai? at least Kagome we can say in the years following Naraku's defeat after she was 18 she learned from Kaede to use techniques like we saw in the raccoon yokai flashbacks: how the hell did a 14 year old who lived up around youkai who can't use that learn to do it? the answer is apparently completely on her own
Moroha is a natural genius and prodigy in her own right, and significantly more impressive than her own father in the technique and power department despite being much younger than him, and not even a result of his unique origin: she's just younger than both her mom and her father, got a magic sword and learned to use it on her own, and apparently must have experimented with her own spiritual powers to become a badass in her own right after her own useless-ass master died. as opposed to the THREE THINGS that Towa is capable of, I can probably name 5 or more on Moroha's end if I wasn't feeling lazy bc it's New Years
all three of them have powers that were not used by the generation before them, and Moroha by far has the most going on for her with no real explanation as to how. i said in the last ask i answered i actually WOULD have appreciated Towa needing 2-3 eps to fully realize and learn how to use her powers... and and an explanation on how Moroha is this incredibly advanced in her spiritual powers, too.
it's absurd to put one on such a high pedestal and ignore this just because she's your fave. Towa is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction, and while i've loved her season 2 arc there are things about her i wish had gone in a different direction. but we're gonna act like her power gains have been ridiculous compared to the cousin right next to her?
and if Towa is a mary sue? fine! she's a mary sue i love, then! and same for her sister and her cousins, who are also sues~
you have some good points that i've actually talked about with my own friends, it's a shame though it's basically buried underneath what's clearly you just being salty about your fave.
again, happy new year you salty loser <3

Why Naqib in The Boys sucked
Tumblr media
Image description: fictional character Naqib in Amazon Prime’s show The Boys.
(Is the fire in the background an excuse to use racist Yellow Filter to show how exotic he is? Hmm.)
I first posted this on my blog in Dec 2020, and since nothing in superhero media has changed for the better at this time (September 5th, 2021), I’m going to keep talking about it.
Because nobody else does. So, without further ado:
WHY NAQIB SUCKS.
I was a big fan of The Boys season 1; I love superheroes, I love deconstructing a genre. Sure, it has its problems, but overall I enjoyed season 1 and thought the show had potential.
(That’ll learn me for being hopeful!)
When season 1 ended with this big build up of mostly nameless brown and background characters as Muslim terrorists (deep sigh) we the audience are left thinking this one Muslim character (Naqib) whose superpower is to blow himself up repeatedly (insert another long deep sigh here) is going to be The Big Bad of season 2.
I had my misgivings about that direction. Firstly, as you can see from the image of Naqib, he is highly exoticised and is walking around bare chested with Arabic writing on his chest. He looks more like a generic western media depiction of a genie than he does a supervillain.
And yet he's the first prominent Muslim character in superhero media I've seen in YEARS.
-
(See my post about MENA and Muslim character good guys, including Joe played by Marwan Kenzari in The Old Guard, which is technically a comic book movie but it’s not what I’d call ‘caped and costumed’ superheroes so it’s more... superhero adjacent.)
I follow superhero content closely and as far as I'm aware the last time we saw any named Muslim characters in superhero movies WITH SPEAKING LINES was:
Instance 1) Iron Man 1 back in 2008 with The Ten Rings in Afghanistan, showing multiple Muslim characters as baddies/terrorists, but only two of them as a named character and with any meaningful lines to say. And despite one of them, Yinsen (actor Shaun Toub), being a good guy he still dies! Which is common in western media for Muslim and MENA characters.
Note: Fellow Iron Man 1 castmate, actor Sayed Badreya, makes an important point in this GQ article: "I die in Iron Man, I die in Executive Decision. I get shot by everyone. George Clooney kills me in Three Kings. Arnold blows me up in True Lies…" (x)
Instance 2) A more recent instalment in Batman V. Superman in 2016, with some unnamed 'General' character and mercenaries/terrorists in Nairomi, Africa, referred to only as "the desert" throughout the movie. All reference to the General's actual name are available in an extended/deleted scene only, so a very poor and vague depiction in the final cut.
Instance 3) The generic and badly written ‘bad guys’ in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020 movie), which was honestly such a racist depiction of Arabs and Muslims that many critics pointed out we hadn’t seen a depiction this terrible since 1994′s True Lies. (At least most critics were in agreement that WW84 movie was generally terrible, so there’s that.)
And that's it, those are the only major instances showing any Muslim actors or characters in a caped and costumed superhero movie.
Some other fleeting glimpses of Muslims onscreen:
Glimpse 1) I spotted a girl wearing a hijab among the nameless and unspeaking background characters of Peter Parker's class in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). A first for Marvel movies, apparently.
Glimpse 2) Disney Plus show Falcon and Winter Soldier (2021) had two nameless Muslim characters walk by in a scene that’s supposed to be Tunisia (using Yellow Filter), and ‘thank’ the present American Air Force (eye-roll).
Glimpse 3) Netflix show Jupiter’s Legacy (2021) had a nameless Muslim sailor conversing with one of the main characters in a scene, with meaningful dialogue about racism. (WOW. Really good.) Bonus: no yellow filter. It’s a pity he’s a nameless background character because this brief instance is the least problematic MENA rep I’ve seen in ages, but it is very brief.
I just wrote about Glimpses 2 and 3, and how the Netflix show outdid Disney when it comes to these nameless walk-on Muslim characters.
This is pretty pathetic overall, these small crumbs, especially compared to better rep and probably the only instance of legit MENA superheroes in a ‘costumes and capes’ style superhero show, the Tarazi siblings on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
-
Anyway, now I’ve listed what crumbs are available across the live action superhero genre, back to The Boys.
I was intrigued about how season 2 would handle Naqib and any characters relating to him, and what storyline they'd use.
Was I excited at the possibility of seeing Muslim supers onscreen? Damn straight I was. Did I mind that they were baddies? Well, yes and no. When you only ever get crumbs or no crumbs at all, you tend to get excited over one stale old crumb.
After the build up for season 2, I eagerly sat down to watch the first episode, only to have the first five minutes of episode 1 Trigon him.
Note: who's Trigon, you ask? Well if you didn't watch the DCEU's Titans show, Trigon was The Big Bad who was hyped up throughout season 1, introduced in the season 1 cliff-hanger episode as this big 'oh shit!' moment for the cast of heroes, only for him to fizzle out like a wet fart in the first episode of season 2 while the show pivots wildly in another direction.
Exactly what happened to Naqib in the first five minutes of The Boys season 2.
Erm, so, Naqib. Farewell, I guess? As a character you briefly appeared in 2 episodes, portrayed by a different actor in each (Krishan Dutt, and Samer Salem). It seems the writers used you as a plot device when they needed a cheap cliff-hanger for a direction that ultimately went nowhere.
Am I disappointed? Yeah, I am. Overall I thought season 2 of The Boys was weaker than season 1, but I'm not here to talk about the whole season: I want to talk about Naqib and this missed opportunity.
The Boys and its showrunners sell the show as being a satire of recent and well known superhero content, of all the big movies and TV shows. There's been a lot of patting themselves on the back for calling out overused tropes in superhero media (and sometimes they've done this satire well: see the LGBT marketing scene with Queen Maeve in season 2), but my issue with the show on their Muslim rep, or should I say lack thereof, is if your show has even less Muslim character rep than the content you're trying to parody, how is this a win for satire?
Naqib and that whole angle came across as a lazy, half-assed swing from the writer's room. Sure, perhaps a lot of the non-Muslim and non-MENA audience won't even notice, as we've been ignored by western media or made into nameless, generic, vacuous baddies for decades now. Non-Muslims and non-MENA just accept that we're always the baddies for no particular reason at all (which feeds into Islamophobia, by the way) and The Boys' writers could say they are simply satirising the tropes already present in media...
But, and this is a big but, the media that The Boys is satirising has already made a step toward better inclusion and representation: Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Marvel comics' first Muslim superhero, is entering the MCU as a lead character in her own Disney Plus show, debuting in 2022.
Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan is also cited to appear in upcoming Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels (2022), which will be a major movie.
The MCU has also cast a Muslim actor (Mahershala Ali) as the lead in a reboot of Blade. That's going to be big news when it starts filming.
So to the showrunners on The Boys, I say this: now you've done this small angle of 'all Muslim characters are terrorists, yuckity-yuck!' like we've seen in major superhero movies thus far, and you've brushed that aside in favor of focusing on other whiter villains, my question is will you come back to Muslim and MENA characters again? Or is that all you got?
Because if that was ALL, then the current score is Disney/MCU:02, Netflix:02, DCEU:02, and The Boys: a big ZERO as far as Muslim and MENA rep goes.
-
Originally posted on my blog, magnificently nerdy.
If you, like me, are always on the lookout for onscreen Muslim and MENA characters in superhero media, and have spotted any characters in superhero TV shows I haven’t watched yet, let me know about them!
Here is my post on good guys, featuring Old Guard’s Joe, and Blindspot’s Rich Dotcom.
Here’s my post about the Tarazi siblings on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow TV show.
And, if Marvels’ Eternals gets released on schedule for 2021, we will have a MENA actor portraying a supporting character. I just hope Marvel gives him a name.
