i know everyone tends to relate ash to his battling fixation. or at least that's how it was when he was a kid — but 25+ years is a long time to grow through and garner some new interests. don't get me wrong, ash still loves to battle! but after all this time, true challenges are indeed few and far between, and he's been eager to explore other ways he can spend time and work with pokémon. one of his newer passions has become cooking! being the only son of pallet town's foremost chef and restauranteur, ms delia ketchum herself, there was no way in hell he was getting through puberty without a few sincere lessons on how to cook for himself. working at pallet house in some form is a typical rite of passage for so many pallet kids anyway — no matter how famous they are, nor how many times they've saved the world — everyone gets a turn on the line. ash may not be the wizard in the kitchen his mother is, but he certainly learned to hold his own. since then he's developed a genuine fondness for it, and as his stamina for battling begins to lag behind, cooking is a great way to still do something fun and challenging with his pokémon, and fill that bottomless stomach of his at the same time. raichu would even fancy himself quite the sous chef, if his big-chested boasting is to be believed — he's often eager to help ash cook, helping him find ingredients when they're out in the wild, and using his great and sharp tail-blade to help him prep. according to raichu, the food won't taste as good if he doesn't get to help. like trainer like pokémon, i guess. damn gluttons. presently, this comforting fondness has lead him back to pallet house to work just like he used to when he was younger. almost like some illusion of normalcy can truly be achieved by him. just like his growing fondness for barbecue evokes wistful memories of life on the road with just a campfire. always yearning for comfort. something simple and uncomplicated. predictable, even. still ... i'm not sure the walls of pallet house will comfort him for long. nor the soothing crackle of a campfire. what he seeks refuge from can never be evaded for long.

I'm assuming you mean adopts? In that case... yeah, I did have stuff planned, but... idk if/when it'll happen. I have a whole host of chemical imbalances that make me start a billion things and finish very few lol. Also... my interest in splatoon has been dwindling. Like... I don't know? Splatoon 3 doesn't interest me a whole lot, and most new content for it is related to that. If I do think abt splatoon, it's mostly my own ocs. I don't feel a lot of inspiration or motivation to really.... create much of anything splat-related anymore. All that being said, my commissions are always open, and im always happy to work out a pricing plan for a custom. I currently have a batch of non-fandom characters in the works, but... after that, I'll try to see if I can think of any cool fishes to cook up. No promises on a timeline though.

This was for my good buddy intothebutton's recent DTIYS of his best boi Juke <3 (and I was double-dipping by making it an ArtFight attack lmao 🤫) Sadly wasn't able to completely finish in time for the end of ArtFight. The model itself is finished but trying to get it rigged was breaking my brain and the model 🪦

Still a bit ashamed I only got one attack out 😔 but hopefully I can get better and speed up my modeling process. If I hadn't gone on vacation, I'm pretty confident I could've finished it better. Obv still plan on workin on this, so will share the full thing eventualy on socials and likely continue to work on it on stream as I have for the past month. But in the meantime, this is on hold while I work on ANOTHER good bud's DTIYS 💀

I'm happy to be working on character modeling again bc it's probably my favorite (and also the most dificult 😭) thing to do. I'm sure not modeling for several months doesn't help either lmao. Refs for ref:

So, a short while ago I made a post sayin' that I was workin' on a really big drawing inching a number of my ocs. Well, I am still working on this gigantic, but it is almost done now! It still won't be finished for a bit, but as of currently it's about 4/5 of the way done! And I'm really excited to be able show this drawing to you guys when it is done!

I don't want to leave you guys hangin' for too long though. So in the meantime I have a re-draw of another one of my old Sonic ocs that I'm working on simultaneously, and will hopefully have that one done soon to post somethin' new for you guys 😊

And the point of all this is to say that no, I have not disappeared, I am 100% still here. So, If you guys can wait just a little bit longer, then I will have a really exciting drawing to show you!

Hi, Tumblr, I'm Still Alive

Life has been a tad overwhelming for me lately. And by "lately" I mean for the past several years. Stuff that has been going on:

Family/loved ones having Big Medical Problems

Trying to prevent myself having Big Medical Problems (by scheduling Big Scary Medical Procedure)

Parents moving close by after years away

Have figured out after much, much research that I'm almost certainly somewhere on the autism spectrum (lots of feeling like an imposter and like nobody's gonna accept me/believe me coming along with it... Oof.)

Securing stable fully-functioning place to live (ongoing, but workin' on it. In the meantime, fridge has failed/spoiled all fresh food 4+ times in the past couple of years.)

Disrupted my writing/publishing schedule as a full-time indie author to start a part-time summer job (stressed seeing my sales momentum slow down, struggling to focus in on writing the 2 days per week I have for it right now. Still writing and sending out newsletters ever other week, though!)

Really tired and feeling burnt out, but can't slow down the merry-go-round of life.

A weekend where I just get to stay home and do my own thing for more than one day in a row happens only once or twice per month lately.

Missing having more time to make art and to write without deadlines.

I still have plans to refund everybody who ordered an art commission from me who never got one. I know it's been a couple of years by now, but I never intended to take anybody's money and not deliver what I promised, so I want to make it right. Have been waiting to be financially able to, and I think that time is soon.

I hope everybody on Tumblr is doing okay. I'm not sure how many folks I knew are still on here, even, but if you're an old pal, know I wish you well! Hang in there.

I know she's just an NPC but I was wondering if you had any hcs for Nana? :)

i'm actually writing her for the first time rn, so she's been on my mind lately! i never thought much of her the first like 5 times i played this game, but suddenly i'm finding her manner of speaking really endearing. she just kinda dumps whatever's on her mind, no foreward or filter. not much expression or intonation to her dialogue either, she seems to deliver it pretty dryly. which is funny, 'cause she's always dropping these deeply insightful thoughts n' daydreamy musings. she seems like a really profound thinker, awkwardly resigned to the sidelines of a town where Not Overthinking Things is the unspoken status quo. still, i've gotta wonder whether she's terribly lonely or contently introverted. maybe she's still figuring that out herself - i know i sure was, at that age. gonna be paying extra close attention to her dialogue during this replay i'm doing.

there's some eb64 lore about her dad getting lost at sea, yeah? i've got a headcanon that many of the tazmilians were seafaring folk before the world ended (the white ship being a nautical vessel - several survivors were the folks most capable of manning such a ship). they took special care to erase all their knowledge of boats and ocean navigation, so they wouldn't be inclined to wander back out into the post-apocalyptic world they'd left behind. i imagine nana's father had trouble keeping his memories suppressed, for whatever reason. got an unsettled itch to go exploring, remembered just enough to build himself a boat, went alone, and died out there, in the horrible desolation of it all. nana's still wistfully holding out hope her dad might come back for her. probably couldda had some interesting conversations with lucas, in the meantime, huh…

anyways. i assigned her the esteemed hobby of birdwatching. gave her an old polaroid camera. she likes to take photos of wildlife. in the postgame fic i'm workin' on, she's grown up to become a paramedic, with a little ambulance boat. i like the idea of nana trying to take on an important role in her community, after spending her childhood so ostracized. somethin about forgiveness, somethin about rejecting the urge toward self-isolation by embracing selfless acts of kindness, y'know, classic mother 3 stuff. also the thought of nana rambling her patients' ears off - while they're helplessly beholden to her care - just cracks me up.

Hi! So... uh.... how's it goin?!

Right now I'm like in the other side of the pond, the You Ess Ayyy or how it's called in spanish "los Eh Eh Oo Oo... duuuuude", for family stuff and all that jazz! So that means I got busier! And I have to adjust to jet lag! And as such, art's slowin down for a bit. BUT I'M STILL WORKIN ON ART AS WE SPEAK!!!

As I'm writing this, I am currently workin on a comm that I'm SUPER excited about!! Of which you'll probably see... in a bit :3

In my spare time, if I'm not dealin with family or talkin to friends or the sort, I've been playing Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and MAN OH MAN OH MAN, THAT WAS WORTH THE 3 YEAR WAIT HUH. No spoilers (yet) please. I'm plannin on finishing Pikmin 4 after I'm done with BRC, and then FINALLY finish Zelda ToTK (i still didn't finish the main story lol) (then maybe i'll actually gain the courage to finish Pikmin 2) BUT WAIT, THERE'S SAMBA DE AMIGO ON THE HORIZON, IN LIKE, A WEEK OR SO, WOW... I... am not gonna be able to do that side project on time huh
