I've been thinking of Nine a lot lately. Like, we know it's been weeks between Sonic disappearing in the shard and coming back in the middle of the Resistance's battle.

What was Nine up to all this time? We know he stole the shard, disappeared, made the shuttle, created the tech to portal through shatterspaces and found The Grim (possibly not before visiting other words).

But what was in between? What happened right after his theft? He looked so shattered when Sonic disappeared. You can't tell me he didn't went through at least some kind of meltdown, even if circling around "it's my fault I'm hurt because I got too close to Sonic even though I knew he wouldn't stay and I allowed myself to get my hopes up and it's my fault I'm hurt now and I shouldn't have trusted him".

What pushed him to experiment with the shard? To create the tech to travel to different shatterspaces? Was it because he thought since Sonic isn't here, there's nothing else keeping him in New Yoke? So he should find a new world? Someplace he wouldn't be hurt?

And also how... comfortable he acted once Sonic came back. Like, it was quite weird to me he didn't even mention Sonic being gone for that long. He just opened the shuttle door, let the hedgehog in like he did that all the time. (Kinda like Tails did tbh)
