i've been a doctor who fan for over a decade and i still find new ship names that make me want to murder a man.
#to be clear. nothing even to do with the ship. purely to do with the naming conventions#i'm sure other fandoms around in 2010 had equally baffling ship names but the STAYING POWER of these names. wow.#i'll still see timepetals somewhat regularly if i go into the main fandom tag. thankfully i have never seen someone say 'timecock' seriousl#but i did just witness someone saying “allonswin” in the year 2024 and it took me so long to figure out what that could possibly mean#to be so real unless you've got a really good portmanteau (i'll accept spirk for instance) you gotta just write character a/character b#i'll maybe accept some variations if you're doing unnumbered doctor/specific master incarnations or something that's hard to specify#what version of the characters you're talking about#but 90% of the time. there is no reason for this.#my posts
