The Truman Show is as old as I am, but every time I stumble across it again, I am gripped with the urge to write a 50k fic unpacking Truman's life post-canon. Can you IMAGINE the trauma? godddd i wish so bad we had any idea what porky would've looked like in earlier versions of m3

there's those unused sprites which i'm obsessed with but that's it

especially with benimaru itoh being the original art director for m3, and knowing how differently he drew eb porky in his manga, i'm dying to know the direction he went in with him originally

i've seen speculation that the character in the center of the front row (3e, in the light suit) in this pic of the eb64 cast was porky

prominent cheeks and chin, large seemingly-upturned nose and the odd importance placed on him with his suit and position at the very front not totally unfitting

even so, i'm doubtful it's supposed to be him, although the points against it being porky i've seen raised on reddit don't really convince me

looks too sweet and happy - yeah porky's childish and faux-innocent qualities are one of his defining creepy features (and the unused sprite design is far less obviously-evil than the final version) actually a totally different character that clearly has a different model - why are they given so much focus in this pic doesn't look like porky - see the manga design, it's not really out of the question for them to depart so heavily from his eb sprite

on the one hand i'm a little skeptical they'd just put the big twist villain in a promotional picture like this, but on the other hand they were already talking about an older porky playing a major role in the story so who knows i'm no expert on eb64's development (i couldn't tell you who most of these characters are supposed to be), but i'm not sure we've ever seen that particular character anywhere else? very weird

the thing that makes me go absolutely feral is this infuriating quote from an interview with the enemy designer from the n64 era

the other day, i'm talking with my coworkers about relationships, i'm discussing that i'm poly, and my monogamous coworkers are all like " i could never, don't you get jealous, etc." standard stuff, and at some point the conversation turns to like drugs, whatever. two servers are talking about why they do/don't do certain drugs, where they get them, i'm like in the convo but slightly off to the side, and one of the servers, a 6'0" gym rat dj named zach starts talking about how because he's a dj, he gets a lot of drugs for free from his friends and the people in the spaces he spends time in. he goes "yeah like, the clubs i hang out at, most of my audience and the people there are cool, it's like a bunch of gays, *trannies*, musicians and stuff" and this happens:

i decide to leave it there because my blood was boiling, and he literally didn't talk to me for the rest of his shift, would just side eye me and be stoic and pissy because he's furious that i'm angry at him???? cut to yesterday, a few days later, when i come back to work having nearly forgotten about the whole thing until i see him again, and he is STILL just seething at me???? i say hello to him, he doesn't respond and actively moves to avoid where i'm stood as much as he can and then:

i moved a big bin of dirty dishes from my station to the server station to wait for the dumbwaiter we use to send them up to the kitchen, which is technically not correct procedure, they Should stay in my station until the dumbwaiter has been called, but no one has ever cared about leaving non-server dishes there in all the time i've been working, but he grabs the bin, brings it to my station and sets it on my line, and goes "we're Not bussers, you can wait for the elevator :)" and walks away huffing, doesn't talk to me again before finishing his shift.

You can tell it's awkward between Crosshair and Hunter right now because after his dramatic entrance Crosshair just. Slipped back out to wait up front rather than risk having to actually talk to Hunter about anything.

This first interaction though god there's so much there. "And so will your squad." "They'll still come for you." Just godddd the pain is so deep here and it's no one's FAULT it's the Empire's but you can't have interpersonal family dynamics with the Empire. It's only this painful because of how much everyone cares about each other.

POOR PANICKY OMEGA she's so scared and wants to go get Hunter RIGHT NOW IMMEDIATELY.

When do we get the Gregor in Cid's bar chaos cut?

Rampart has acknowledged Hunter's name but never Crosshair's, which is wild to me.

The fact that his subordinates still call him 'the clone' okay. The thing with Crosshair is he might have gotten the title but he never got an OUNCE of respect and god does it show. The fact that he willingly went back to this is a sign of how little self respect he has left frankly. He doesn't care that they treat him like shit because whatever he probably deserves to be treated like shit.

Echo getting down to ask Omega if she's alright is such a good moment for them, just a lovely example of how good they are at relating to her. (Her saying it doesn't matter they just need to save Hunter though sdoifjsf, I cannot wait to see her stubborn streak in season 3)

Listen I love that his hurt is treated like it matters but I love that Hunter doesn't instantly give in when he hears it too. They did what they could with the information they had - which wasn't much - and it meant that they couldn't take Crosshair with them. Either they would have died or Crosshair would have been killed. There's no solution where they just grab Crosshair and take him with them and it all works out perfectly, and both of their sides are absolutely valid in the emotions they have and it's DELICIOUSLY COMPLICATED BETWEEN THEM.

"We didn't have a choice." "Hm. And I did?" - Okay though I love this exchange because it is. The singular time I think where we hear Crosshair admit that he didn't have a choice. He usually tries to pretend he's picked this path, that he's made his own decisions. And after a point he did, but those decisions will never not be influenced by something that was completely out of his control, and when he lets himself be a little raw he admits that, before he piles on all his stubbornness again.

GODDD HUNTER IS TRYING SO HARD STILL TO GET THROUGH TO HIM AND HE DOESN'T KNOW THAT CROSSHAIR ISN'T CHIPPED ANYMORE AND AGHHHHHHH. I know I'm focusing on this over the others in the lab but god there's just so much here I can't stop chewing on it. Hunter's sad sigh, the gentleness he uses to try to get through to him, Crosshair's face when Hunter mentions the chip because he knows it's not there and he isn't sure he fully believes that it was That Big A Deal anyway. So funny how they fall for the 'oh we'll go where they're not expecting!' trick twice in a row because Crosshair is just that familiar with how they think.

The way that he tries to get Omega off world is another good signal that the chip is out, it's so different from aim for the kid it might as well be coming from a different person. Because it is. The chipped version was not Crosshair, not really, this is. Just. A very very damaged Crosshair.

Glad he drops the 'we're superior' bullshit in season two pretty much, guess 32 rotations starving on a platform will put some things back in perspective.

Tech spotting the mirrors and bringing Wrecker's attention to them right before Crosshair shoots everyone and pulls his helmet off it's just so much happening all at once and I adore the Emotion in this whole sequence.

This is not a fight this is Hunter managing a fucking tantrum while trying not to let Crosshair get shot in the meantime. Like it is clear they are not on equal footing in this lol. Crosshair manages to get the upper hand for exactly .5 seconds.

We need Tech alive it's the only way to get the theme back properly in season 3 if they play it without him it will feel EMPTY.

Anyway he snapped his rifle up to try and commit suicide by Hunter I think, probably didn't occur to him that Hunter would have it on the stun setting.

Hunter's HEARTBREAKING EXPRESSION is a lot to take in but you also can see Tech's eyes widen and then narrow as he tries to process the new information and just. UGH. MY HEART AND SOUL IS WOUNDED.

And through it all, Hunter still checks for a scar trying to figure out what is going on. He still wants so bad for it not to be true that this is Crosshair in his right mind.

Which, well, he's not, just not because he's actively chipped.

A lot of people have talked about it and Number of the Beast is very scary to me. I've already seen people do math about the probability but even without that just listening I was like.... isn't that way too likely??! The wording of it too is so. Like it's cool flavor but it's also really awful... "If you ever roll 3 sixes you are killed in a spectacular fashion and are claimed by whatever terrible power most interested in your soul [...]" Hm. I'm frankly not sure how I feel about it. I guess, like always, it would depend on the framing it's given but just on paper it feels bad to think about Clem getting them after they finally managed to break free. I'm not even a Figure-head like some of my mutuals but I really really want to see them continue on this path (pal31 note: I love the new "Using this new lease on life on violence would be a waste" hook. It reminds me of Valence.) ... Also. Well. Still thinking about Austin being like wow finally I have someone onscreen for Perennial to communicate to (that isn't Clem). I want that too...

I'm not 100% on Armour Astir rules still but does the Investigator as a support playbook not have a mech? They don't, right? (I do HAVE the book, but I haven't closely read it, mostly skimmed over moves.) Of course a class like this has different advantages and I'm loving the Investigator so far but I WILL just miss Keith mech combat. He's so good at making really effective characters, but I guess Phrygian was kind of a high point for that (one-shot kills, baby!!!!! god. Phrygian ruled).

Speaking of Keith characters. The bit to get in the bathroom felt so much like being stuck in a point & click adventure game and you look around and talk to the person there & try like 3 things that don't work & then you go oh RIGHT I have this tool I forgot about because I never used it before! So that was fun to me. God I just enjoy Eclectic so so much.

And I really loved Keith losing it at the fact that the first thing he did was stalk a guy & follow him into a bath room. On a whim. It's sooooooooo funny I love you Eclectic it makes perfect sense to me Leap would be like yeah I trust this guy to handle this & send him. It just paints a picture that I like looking at. A lot (pal31 note: And he IS competent he does his job he's just also a weirdo. Just like Leap...)

I'm a bit. Hm. Connadine? I guess I should wait to see how that develops but it's kind of like... I guess don't want Jack's cool guy to be no-sold (?). I don't even think that's something I need to worry about, because Austin just wouldn't do that, but it was a thought/feeling I had and I want to catalogue it at the very least.

EDIT: I don't think I took any notes on this but godddd the intro!!!! Who does it like Friends at the Table!!! Incredible work. I imagine it might've worked even better for ppl who hear that voice reguarly (I don't have tiktok & only watch ones on my dash basically). I also am... just kinda interested in the production/making of that tbh. I don't know how the tiktok thing works, but I know that with other voices like that it matters a lot how you type text because it can change intonation. And if it was put in as one text vs singular sentences, and if that changes anything? I mean it was edited for timing obviously, but I just wonder how much vs the initial input. Interesting to me.

Let's start with the Connadine business since that's what I ended on. It was good. I looooved the conversation on the rooftop. Eclectic's cracked face. Connadine's risk of "curious", Austin saying something like "it would be easier for him to not be curious about this person interrogating him". Likeeeee. OK. There was an energy. To me. There was. Which is just funny because it's never ever coming from Keith but his weirdguys are just so compelling to people around them aren't they... A SHORT ASIDE: read this good fanfic recently. grey to black by tenworms. And I already thought about ways synthetic beings can show intimacy or perform pleasure(...strange way to phrase it but it's what I've got rn) recently because I had Leap/Figure A on the brain for 4 days straight, just stuck up there (and it's a bit different there again because Leap is Equiaxed, right. And also I've developed specific opinions on their relationship or how they express it but anyways). All that to say idk what's up in that regard with Delegates, it may similar, it may even be a little weirder again because they're part Divine and maybe sometimes a little magic, but you know. At the very least. He COULD have fingered that old man ASIDE FINISHED Nevermind all that I read @/swallowtaileds post saying Eclectic should start a Gravity Clock with him and I would really love that! Great idea. He's got free spots anyways. Hopefully ensuring Connadine to show up again? Then again, he did sound like he thought it'd be best to get off-planet... It does feel kind of weird that the Paint Shop is just felled this uncerimonsoul unceremoniously (edit: I cant believe I forgot to fix that. This word has entirely too many vowels). Eclectic just did that... On his first mission out... and it wasn't even the mission he was on (!). And like, it makes sense for it to be that easy because it was literally planned and aided By the head of the Paint Shop. And I think this is something that will have the most interesting repercussions for the next faction game, and I have no doubt something really sick will come about with it. So while I don't really care for it now (funny factor aside. Love this for u Eclectic.) I'm taking it as a "wait and see" thing. Also like. What is Eclectic doing now. Like in this sortie? I guess he could keep investigating but he did already get some info.? And I don't know, but it doesn't extremely seem like the other side is gonna wrap up super quickly. I did just remember he still has like, all of his B-Plot points or whatever, so he should probably use those to help the rest of the crew, but also. I don't know it's like whatever happens he Already Basically Felled A Pillar (and Jade Kill most likely will do the actual felling, but come on).

Quick Gur mention: I cheered YES! out loud when Dre failed that roll (sorryyy) and then went Noooo..!!! a few minutes later when they rerolled and succeeded. Very funny for Gur to just pop in going "You can't simply leap into holes!!!" I love him soooo much. I'm back to hoping for Figure to fail rolls, and honestly it's bad for them to roll too well anyways, so really. Who's to say if that's bad or good.

And just bc of my recent Integrity post I have got to mention this: a scepter huh!!! A scepter! Just after losing(?) Dahlia, a ruler twice-over. Something to be held, or wielded. Something no longer in connection with its pilot! This Integrity does not demand intimacy. Or it won't have it, not from these people (reading @/madetolooklikeus' posts earlier)... I still have my thoughts on what I think is interesting to happen to/with Integrity but they have shifted substantially. I am sitting and stapling my fingers like that one guy and having thoughts...! New hooks and gravity clocks are over both these episodes so I'll just put it here. I already mentioned Figure's new hook above, and I really like it. And not to just repeat myself, but it DOES remind me of Valence. This would be an outlook they had. They could've said something like that. It is also just a direction many Dre characters go to, I think, but of course Valence stands out with the direct connection to this season via the last, and also of course to Brnine. (I know people always go on about character haunting a narrative and sometimes it's like nah that guy just died but Valence Truly For Real IS.) Speaking of Brnine. It was a bit funny to me when they were like oh is that a plural they? and had a little hehe about it because I straight-up had not thought that it wasn't. ...It's of course very fun and tragic and sexy for it to be about just Valence but I WOULD like it to be about Phrygian and S.I. and other people they've had to leave behind too. I think that can both be true though too with the way Brnine avoids to even think of them(Valence). God. Living on borrowed time... I forget who said it, Dre or Ali, but it really does play nicely with Figures new hook. OH and then with the new Thisbe clock for Brnine!!!! Augh!!! "Brnine is capable but brittle. Their success and survival is the only way forward." Oh... and I wonder how Ali will word Brnines new clock for Thisbe on the other side. It's so interesting in the way she talked about it, how that relationship might differ now. I need it I want it to turn around in my head. God these two are truly just so. Ooooo for 20 I gotta go with either this drawing of hollow or this drawing of pale nightmare. The drawing of was WAAAAY out of my comfort zone in terms of how I usually stylize stuff and I really love how it turned out. The drawing of pale nightmare because it gave me fucking hell and I was so ready to just give up on it entirely but I stuck with it and FUCK did it pay off

For what inspires me, barring the obvious that is hollow knight. It's a really complicated answer. That idk even what it quite is myself, most of the time I just have an idea, go "that would be cool" and then make it. (Also music but that would take me a lifetime to talk about)

LavenderTowne. I found her channel when I was like 12. Before she even had 100k subcribers I believe. I absolutely adore her art and I'm sure you can probably see the influence. (Especially if you look at how I draw humans) She's really what caused me to go on a massive upwards trajectory in terms of improvement.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of The White Witch. It was the first game I've ever played and the first piece of media to ever impact me at such a scale. I won't go into it but my childhood sucked and I honestly don't know if I would of made it through it without this game. It's what led me to finding Stampylonghead and thus letting me find the massive part of my childhood that was Minecraft Youtubers. It holds such a special place in my heart that no words I can say will ever do it justice. I STRONGLY recommend you go play it. And even if you don't play it, at least listen to these songs from the soundtrack. Just godddd it hits so fucking hard. I could go on for hours about this game. It honestly give Hollow Knight a run for it's money.

entp: i know this is like a super desperate ordeal that's going on, but can i just say i'm so excited to use a chainsaw.

[trades intp and starts for actually two seconds and stops, and screams to the heavens] ugh! this is so exhausting! i hate chainsaws! i hate myself! and i hate christmas AND CHRIS ANGEL YOU SWINDLING SON OF BITCH AND YOUR DEFECTIVE MAGIC KITS!!

intp: i wanna go hommmme. chainsaws are not as much fun as i thought, they're loud and heavy and difficult to wield and fuel, also it's dark, i'm cold and i want snack. and nature is gross i mean we should obviously save it and recycle but I HATE BUGS and i just saw a centipede ewww.

First of all, I just want to say that I’m sorry you’ve been having such a crummy time recently, i wish i could give you a big hug 🥺🥺 Great job on your exam today though, I’m sure that’s a huge weight off your shoulders, you’re doing so well!! I’ve also been feeling pretty burnt out recently, I feel so exhausted all the time… i’ve taken a nap every day this week, and I usually hate napping.
