Some Quick Thoughts
--Sorry I've been on and off of here, everyone! Work's been crazy, and so has home life, but I'm starting to come out of the dreary tunnel now, meaning that I should be back on here a lot more often now.
--My writing motivation has been on and off for the last few weeks, mostly due to getting back to work after getting hit with the 'Rona (after my birthday, which was a double whammy). The project that I was working on before getting sick was The Zula Patrol: Dreamscape Crusade Remastered, but now it's shifted to a few other projects that I haven't worked on in years or are on hiatus. Those projects are Mirror, Mirror, and Sodor Magic Crusaders.
--I haven't really been into Thomas the Tank Engine in a hot minute, but I have kinda been into Nanoha again. And I'm about 45% through the actual sixteenth chapter, where things go wrong for multiple characters. I also had a cool idea to switch up how Emily is handled in this story, since I don't want it to be a total cut and paste from the canon events in Nanoha (the fic itself already plays fast and loose with canon as many Devices that appear later in the series appear in the first installment, Mid-Childa doesn't exist, and rather than the Jewel Seeds, we get the Book of Transformation).
I'm also doing a total readthrough of the story to get up to speed with what's going on, and the difference between my old writing style and my current writing style is like night and day, haha! I'm still planning on rewriting a few chapters to make things clearer and clean up any errors/descriptions. At least, until I decide to get the ball rolling on The REMAKE 1st. And while SRBA was unanimously the top pick for a DCR-style remaster, a few people wanted to see this project, too.
--Mirror, Mirror's fifth chapter is something I've been working on for the better part of two years. I'm raising the stakes here in this chapter! Like SMC, I'm about 40% done with this chapter; just adding a few points from ideas and brainstorms I had, and working off of that.
--Sheriff Callie's Wild West has also been tickling the brain a little. I've been trying to get to chapter 7 of You've Got My Attention for the longest, but everything I've tried has not worked. Yesterday, though, I had a little idea on what exactly happened in Callie's past that's made her so closed off on love and why what those criminals did crossed the line. I haven't even started on this chapter yet, though, so please don't rush my inbox with messages about when it'll be done!
--A huge thanks to the folks who have been reblogging my ZP stuff from last year, including all the ship art ^^ Actually, thanks to everyone who's been reblogging/liking my art. Especially the art that I did with Chuck E, because I was not expecting that kind of response. It really makes my day!
--I do have a mini art bomb coming soon. I've been drawing more and want to share what I've been working on!
--And last but not least, I will get to doing my Animation Bucket List soon, because reading through my old Netflix Bucket Lists made me realize that I missed doing 'em. And since I've seen a lot of anime since then, I really want to share what I liked, hated, and am ambivalent on.

Let me preface this by saying I did check your FAQ but I didn't see this there yet I still find it hard to believe no one has asked you this at least a thousand times so if they did and I just missed it I'm sorry and you can delete this ask but—
You write such beautiful, detailed fics with lots of foreshadowing that often starts from the very beginning of the story. I think you made an author note once about only posting the first chapter of a fic after you've written the whole thing (or maybe that was Andie...?). If so, is the time between updates just you going through and rereading / editing like 100k words?
Basically, I want to ask: what is your fic planning process like? From the moment you get a first idea to posting the last chapter, what does I look like? I think you're a really, really amazing (one of the absolute best if not THE best) author but I cannot fathom how one human being can write such mammoths of fanfiction and stay motivated enough to finish them.
Also you're already planning Halloween stuff ?? You plan things literally half a year in advance?? Are you even human? We don't deserve you. 😭
You called yourself lazy in the webcomic post but I think you must work unbelievably hard to make such high quality stuff and without even getting compensation for it. You're amazing and I'm very thankful to exist in the right timeline and fandom to read your work. :,)
(oh my god this became such a ramble I'm sorry)
Oh Ari. 🥺 Hello.
I update as I write! So that was probably Andie, lmao, who’s definitely the better example to follow when it comes to plotting/completing a fic. 🥺 She’s amazing and if I could fashion myself after any other writer in our niche, it would be Andie hands down!
But okay, let’s get into it. 📝
A little disclaimer, before we start; I did not go to school for any of this lmfao. The most relevant education I have behind me is a extra-circular literature class I had during my last two years of high-school. The only reason the following works for me is because I’ve cobbled it together from years of trial and error. You can read advice and watch youtube videos about the writing habits of famous authors, but you have to tailor everything you hear to suit you and the way you work. The best advice in the world from the highest paid author in the world won’t work if you’re not wired in the same way! You have to take everything about yourself and what you like and what you want into account!
Part I—first we take Manhattan
start ur fic lol
First thing’s first; I’m a plotter. I don’t pants. If I pants, I lose interest—I need to have the final vision in front of me, even if it’s just a bullet point. I have to know what I’m working towards. That is crucial to literally everything I do. Every fic you see on AO3, every WIP I’ve mentioned working on or wanting to work on—I have always known two things about them, immediately: the hook that gets us in there, and how they end.
So for fics in particular, the start might look something like—I get an idea (I want Reader and Bakugou to kiss). And then I sit there and I brainstorm to myself (What’s stopping them from kissing? Why does Reader want to kiss someone so rude when there’s so many other nice boys out there? Is Reader particularly kissable?). And then, if I’m lucky, I think of an ending (Reader and Bakugou finally kiss, but he’s the one that initiates it, because he’s always wanted to, because he likes that Reader always wears a yellow coat to work—it’s ugly and it sticks out among the black and tan ones of the crowd but he comes to associate it—and thus Reader—with routine and his mornings going well).
This is often the most fragile time of an idea. That hook (Reader and Bakugou kiss) might fall apart with a bit more prodding (why would they kiss? Reader’s a stranger to him; most of us don’t go around kissing random strangers just because we like their coats). Or maybe the hook sticks (they spend almost years in orbit around each other, a constant near-miss) but the ending doesn’t work (I don’t know how to move Bakugou to a position where he can kiss Reader, where he has the opportunity to). For every idea you see in action, or listed, there’s like three more that died during this stage and are now being cannibalised for spare parts.
Part II—running up that hill (a deal with fic)
work work work
If our idea survives, we then move to the “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” stage; which manifests itself in this case as a doc, where I’ll just write any and all ideas I have for this little world so far.
For fanfics, it’ll generally look like—
TITLE
SUMMARY: Bakugou and Reader kiss.
(in which Bakugou first notices you because of your ugly yellow coat)
📝 Reader is allergic to diary products; for ages Bakugou thinks of her as That Cheesy Extra, because of the colour of her coat. She laughs when she eventually learns about this. (“I can’t even eat cheese,” you complain)
📝 Reader stops walking past the coffee shop Bakugou gets his coffee at, one day; moves??? Leaves the city to help a friend out for a few months. Despite himself it throws Bakugou off-kilter, and when he sees someone (not Reader) in a yellow coat during a villian attack, he momentarily loses focus—gets injured???? The news of his injury makes the news, Reader sees it in Bumblah nowhere.
📝 Her coat is donated accidentally by a roommate, in a mix up, for a charity she’s volunteering at; when Reader returns to the city, she has to make do with a new one, a more neutral colour. Bakugou recognises her anyway and that’s when he realises it was never about the coat (!!!!)
Like, this is actually a pretty good approximation of what all my current fics have looked like, at that stage, before I tidied them up and refined them into proper outlines. Because that’s what will happen next, once we have a rough idea of what we want! Things get moved, or removed—tightened. A rough plot outline takes shape! If I get any ideas for a sequel or a spin off that I might want to do, I’ll note them here (Reader’s roommate, Roomie, who’s working at a charity—eventually meets Shinsou, who’s working on a case. She thinks he’s homeless; he doesn’t realise. They carry on like this for a while.)
Once I have a rough outline (rough meaning in bulletpoints), I’ll start on my more in-depth outlines—I do these chapter by chapter! I say this a lot, but they’re basically a really rough version of said chapter. So it might look like:
Reader’s walking to work; it’s cold enough that’s she’s wearing her coat. There’s a new coffee-shop opened on the corner—it’s full, popular, you think it might be because it’s at a crossroads between two different Pro Hero agencies. Reader glances at the window, interested, but then a friend calls out and you hurry along. Bakugou, inside the coffee-shop waiting for Half and Half to get his order, is affronted; your coat is ugly as shit, and he complains loudly about it to Shouto, who mentions something about Baku. having no room to complain about ugly colour choices.
The swap between Reader/You happens a lot because I’m not using my brain properly, at this stage—I’m just shovelling the sand I need into the sandbox. Once I finish my shovelling, I go back and I rewrite it—but better, LMAO. I flesh things out, I throw things away as needed, I add things in. It’s basically really, really intensive handholding and I would not recommend it for anyone who’s already daunted by the idea of plotting; I do it because if I don’t have a chaperone there (aka my outline) then I’m prone to getting distracted. I am basically the fanfic equivalent of the undiagnosed ADHD kid at the back of the class that only gets work done when they’re sat right in front of the teacher (and even then, there’s like a 50% chance it’s not actually work that’s happening but doodles of that weird pointy S thing over and over again).
Once it’s done, though, we have a completed chapter! I then post it and wait like a little crab under some rocks for people to be tricked into being nice to me, and then I dig back in and think nice thoughts about repeating this process to get chapter two. Eventually I will—and viola! Another chapter! We repeat that over and over until we get to the end of our original outline and we have a finished story. 😌📖
Part III—you’re on your own kid
motivation
No one ever likes this part, or what I’m about to say, because at best it sounds like saccharine fodder and at worse it’s out of touch with most people’s experiences in fandom, but—the only way to stay motivated when doing a long-haul fic is that you have to do it for yourself.
People are so kind to me, about the fics I’ve done; it’s part luck and part what I choose to write and part how I write it. And I mean—I share them because I want a little bit of attention, lmao, that’s natural because we’re humans, we all want attention. But here’s the thing, here’s the secret—I take these fics 110% deadly seriously. LOL. That sounds like a joke, but I do! I do that because it’s how I’m built and how I keep myself interested in them—because taking them seriously means I’m more invested in realising the ending I’ve imagined for them since day one.
If other people stopped being so nice about what I was writing, I would be sad—anyone would. 🥺 We all want to be told that we’ve done a good job. But I’ve had the ending for the Deku fic, for example, in my head since it’s predecessor was on-going. That is literal years of knowing how I want Izuku and Scribble’s story to end. If everyone disappeared tonight I would sulk, hardcore, and then I would finish that last chapter anyway. I would finish it because I’ve spent so much time and energy working on that story that not finishing it is a disservice to the world I built around those characters and most importantly to myself. I probably wouldn’t stress as much about it, LOL, if the audience shrunk back down to just me, but I’d still do it. 🥺
I write—and try to finish—these fics because I deserve to see them finished. I want the completed tick, on ao3. I want to look at it and know that I can do it—that I can start something as simple as Bakugou hating on some rando’s yellow coat, and bring it to the finish-line where they finally come together, and see each other, without the yellow coat or through a coffee-shop window.
And this is what I mean by like, tailoring things to suit you—because I know others might be perfectly content to imagine the ending for themselves, without writing it. Or maybe they don’t want to treat fic seriously, because it’s fun escapism. Maybe disappointment that it’s not received like they thought it would be sours the whole experience of fandom for someone—there’s no right or wrong to this. I know I can write for an audience of just me because I’ve done it before. The satisfaction has always come back to the same thing—knowing I finished it, and wrapped that world up as best as I could. You have to pick and choose your poison—and then you have to run with it.
I hope that answers at least some of your questions, Ari. 🥺 Thank-you for such a thoughtful ask; for being so sweet. 🥺 You’re amazing, and I’m the thankful one—I’m glad we’re here, together. 🌷🌾✨📖

July 2024 Plans!
I'm trying something new to see if it works for keeping me more consistent, so don't mind me.
Still insanely obsessed with Keith Kogane so uhh... sorry, that's all you're probably going to see from me this month if you read my stuff.
General Goals:
Get more comfortable with writing shorter fics instead of pushing for record word counts
Work on finding better end scenes for fics
Brainstorm for some longer multi-chapter fics for the future
Newly published word count: 19,920/15,000
Come up with a consistent writing schedule before August
Drafting priority - aim for the minimum viable amount of initial editing (then go back and refine everything in September)
Whumperless Whump Month:
7/1 (emergency first aid) - published
7/3 (like a record, baby) - published
7/10 (your work is never finished) - published
7/16 (say goodbye to filters) - published
7/19 (the whump morning after) - published
7/30 (I don't mean to get emotional) - published
Looking into 1 or 2 more days between the 19th and the 30th, but I haven't picked any yet! (Got sucked into another project and moved on to that!)
Really pushing to finish the days on time for this and move on no matter what at the end of the month. No completionist attempt here!
Bingo Prompts from @builder051:
Addiction/withdrawal - published along with whumperless whump fill
Self-surgery - published along with Whumperless Whump fill
Outlines for 3 other TBD squares, but unlikely to finish those fics in July (I'm short on my projected word count goal for August, so I'm expecting to get these finished and posted then)
Apologize profusely for taking 6 years to get to this
Augusnippets:
By mid-July, decide between path of hurt and path of whumperless whump
Resist urge to say I can do both because I simply cannot
Complete all outlines for chosen path by end of July (did I say outlines? because I accidentally made rough drafts for all of these instead)
Draft the first week by the end of July (I suspect work will be busy in August, so we're getting a buffer ready)
July and August are both planned writing months, but I'm expecting to take September to publish less and focus more on editing some stuff I've posted in the past without polishing as well as I could have. I also think I'll burn myself out if I try to write a ton three months in a row, so this just works out well.
Quick overview of the rest of 2024:
July - Whumperless Whump Event focus
August - Augusnippets focus
September - 1 or 2 short fics and a big round of editing my backlog; start to get a detailed outline on my Klance series
October - Whumptober focus
November - NaNoWriMo (either original fiction or a longfic I've been outlining, depends how I feel by October)
December - probably a heavy editing month (I want to get that NaNoWriMo fic edited so it can start to be published as we ring in 2025, but that probably means I won't publish anything new in November or December)
#month goals#if you see me crash and burn in july no you didn't#but fr i have high hopes for this month#and most of my stressors in life have in fact been eliminated so things can only go up from here#burying this a little so i relieve my urge to spill secrets without many people actually seeing but#i GOT my klance longfic idea today#it's just the main idea but i am so excited for it and that is wild for something that has zero planned h/c yet#planning on thinking about it for a few months then potentially making it my nanowrimo project

Here's a question for the Q&A! Or I guess two
The first one isn't really for any specific story, but what's your process when planning out your longer Sanders Sides fics?
The second is for Before I Go. If Janus and Remus were to ever get pets, what pets would they be? :)
Congrats on the milestone!! Love your stories!! <3
Asdfjksdk implying I have a process XD
No but actually it does tend to start with an idea or a concept, something I haven't seen that I want to, and then I just realize that the idea is too big for a one shot. Or some of them just end up bigger than I expected them to. Before I Go is actually a great example, I did not know what I was getting into lol
Once I realize it's going to be a longer one, I tend to plan by writing stuff down in a physical notebook. I don't know if that's just what I'm used to or if it's an actual brain thing, but I do my best brainstorming in notebooks, and my best writing on a computer (or phone if I'm without access or desperate). I actually have a lot of notes I can still show people if they ask, though I'm sure I'd have to hunt for them.
And then comes the inevitable point where the characters tell me the plot I've come up with is stupid and wrestle it away from me to do their own thing. This happens in almost every story I write. Characters have opinions, I don't know what to tell you.
As to your second question, they probably wouldn't get pets at any point during the actual storyline I've written just because they aren't going to be in a position where they're able to take care of it. If they were actually going to have a life together and they'd know it wouldn't look too suspicious, I can see this as being something they'd actually argue about. Remus would want a golden retriever, because they're the kind of friendly and loyal pet that reminds him of how Roman was before everything went wrong. And Janus would want something more low-maintenance, like a cat or a snake (low maintenance in that you don't have to walk or play with them as often, not that they don't need care). After Remus died, however, if Janus would get a pet, it would be a golden retriever, because now it'd just remind him of Remus, and he'd be looking for that.

Hello! You're like, the only author on ao3 who writes their stories in advance and who I follow, so excuse my whining here, please. Does it ever happen to you that you have a (conversation about the Thing here) in the first draft, and you just can't get around it? Because I'm feeling it very much myself and this is the first time I'm not doing chapter by chapter chaos and... well, I am missing the comments and losing the spirit. This convo is the base of all the other missing stuff, even if I try to move on, I'm still practically writing that one and. It shuts me down. Any ideas? Sorry for bothering you!
Hello anon!
So if I'm understanding your question right (and definitely let me know if I'm not!), you're asking how to plow through a stuck scene without the motivation and inspiration from the comments of posting as you go.
Which is a real struggle that I very much sympathize with! And I potentially have two answers, depending on if it's the stuckness that's getting you, or more the feedback side of things.
And in typical me-style, this answer is long, so I am putting it below a cut lol
On being stuck on a scene--if I truly can't get past it, it seems bogged down and boring and I'm just not excited for it anymore, I have a few strategies:
My tried and true is to go back 10ish lines or a few paragraphs before, even to the start of the scene, because a lot of times what I'm getting stuck on is that the scene needs a different narrative framing or lead-in (usually, for me, just starting more in the middle of things instead of giving all the exhaustive lead-in)
Sometimes a scene/convo flows better for me if I set it in a different location, between a different mix of people, or if I put some sort of action around it (a conversation between Sokka and Zuko about something purely plot-based can layer in lots of fun characterization if suddenly it's occurring while Zuko is trying to do work and Sokka is trying to get him to eat lunch at the same time)
A POV switch! Sometimes my current narrator is just the wrong one for this scene, because they know too much or not enough (I usually prefer the narrator who knows the least, so they can be learning along with the reader)
Sometimes I realize I don't actually need the scene, I just need to have the characters to reference or react to it after, and as long as I know that ABC happened I don't actually have to write it all out. (This can help make the pacing feel faster, too, and sometimes it feels easier and more interesting to fold the references and reactions into later scenes than to actually write it all out)
Specifically for exposition or something that's feeling infodumpy, finding ways to weave the information into other scenes can be really helpful. When I wrote To Open Every Door I worked a LOT at this, and I essentially ended up sketching out a chapter, having a list of like 10 or 15 or however many things I needed to convey by the end of the chapter (to establish worldbuilding, the status of interpersonal relationships, background, whatever), and then going through my rough draft and finding ways to drop those pieces into a character's reactions and thoughts, to fold them into dialogue, to have OCs saying things, basically weaving the exposition across the chapter instead of delivering it all at once
Talking it out! Literally just articulating what feels off or weird about a scene to someone (or like, your cat, or yourself) often helps me narrow in on what needs fixing, or start to form an idea on how to make it flow better (Thanks Ash lol, your support is invaluable even when you insist you did nothing)
This one is kind of silly, but...try working in a different format! I write in Word, but I plan out my outlines in a table, and brainstorm with bullets, and when I'm stuck I often break out Excel. Seeing the information laid out differently on the page helps me quite literally see it differently in a way that can help me think about it differently, too
And if at the end of all that I'm still stick...do I really need the scene? If so, why? What work is the scene doing (emotional, plot, characterization, worldbuilding, etc.)? A lot of times, understanding the purpose of the scene helps me figure out how best to convey the info, whether its another scene, a different version of the scene I'm stick on, or by refocusing the scene around some other element that's more exciting (like switching the plot into the background behind some characterization or interpersonal moment, or vice versa)
That was a lot! But if what's really got you losing momentum is the lack of feedback--that's totally understandable too! Writing can be a lonely endeavor, so some things I do...
Find a buddy to share it with, whether a hype man or a listening ear! Even if it's just on anon, feeding off of someone else's reactions and excitement can help me get excited and enthusiastic too
Did your commenters speculate and get excited for what was next in a way you found inspiring? Is there a way to replicate that by talking at a higher level about what you're writing so that people can get hyped for the scenario or talk about how it could go, or just add tags to a post that generate energy?
You can post updates along the way, like lines you're excited about or little scene snippets, or just talking about the fic in the tags where it fits. It can be a way to get little bits of feedback and engagement along the way (Meesh always with the eagle eye for my tags whenever I'm rambling about fics haha)
Share the things you're excited about! Whether it's a particular scene, a character dynamic, a trope, a bit of worldbuilding--it's a great way to find people who will get excited along with you, and it also helps me to focus on what got me wanting to write the fic in the first place. Sometimes I'm not the most enthused about writing another post-canon get-together requiring a bunch of setup exposition, but then I think about how fun the Zuko-Mai bestie dynamic will be, or the ridiculous angst of the boys pining for that one night stand they had at that masquerade that they don't realize is each other, and I get enthused all over again haha
And relatedly--hone in on what excites you about the story! Even if you don't share it, is there a scene you can't wait for? A particular interpersonal dynamic you can't get enough of? A twist or reveal you can't wait to share? Focusing on those exciting bits can help me keep my enthusiasm going
Mix up where you write--I rotate between writing on my commute, in my house in various locations, and in a coffee shop basically depending on how social I am feeling on a given day. If you're feeling a bit alone in the writing, maybe it would help to write in a library or cafe or park, or if you're feeling distracted maybe you need a quieter place, or pure just change of setting in general!
Maybe you post it! For me I need to write everything out beforehand, because the serialized posting format makes me hate writing in all ways, and also I get a lot of ideas as I go, where my first drafts very truly are working drafts and it's not uncommon for me to pause in the middle of like, Ch 12 to go back to Ch 2 to lay the groundwork for a scene, and then to Ch 5 to add the setup for a joke I'll land in Ch 14. (Or for me to realize as I edit that I included scenes with absolutely no follow-up that I can now add haha). But that approach isn't for everyone, and maybe you write a few chapters at a time and post them week to week, or maybe you post what you have now to get through this scene and then go back to writing all the rest out. Just cause you started thinking you'll write it all first doesn't mean you have to stick with it if it's not working and something about posting would shake you out of it!
That was...probably way more ideas than you wanted or needed, but let me know if any of them help! I'm crossing my fingers for you!
#asks and answers#anons#Probably way more answers and options than you ever wanted lol#Good luck! I hope you get unstuck - and feel free to ramble at me!#Fic writing

4) Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
hsfjdlshfks I generally don't go looking for new ideas, they just break into my house and start squatting there lol. Aside from the spontaneously generated ones, I actually take a lot of inspiration from other fans! Blorbo discussions especially tend to spark interesting thoughts that lead to headcanons and stories. Sometimes fanart (all kinds) causes me to go down a different thought path than before - like, I recently saw some truly banger torisai art that changed the planned ending of a WIP lol. It's never direct inspiration though, like I genuinely wouldn't bother making something that already exists unless I thought I could bring something radically different to the table. I'm making the stuff that I wish existed but doesn't!
20) Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?
Lol. Yeah all my romantic stuff is sweet and cozy and heartfelt because I'm cheesy and love that stuff. Even my most deranged lemons are super affectionate <3 I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to call me out on other patterns lol.
27) What is your most and least favorite part of writing?
The best parts are the initial concept & brainstorming, plus writing blorbo dialogue. I'm sure it's extremely obvious that I love writing Akechi dialogue in particular – the less hinged, the better!
Worst part is the post-posting creative slump, where I've gone through all the effort of creation & posting and then there's no feedback and it just feels bad. Hate having to wait out stupid human feelings to get back to creating. It doesn't always happen (I was actually really pleasantly surprised by the reception of the toilet blog lol) but it's just a real bummer when it does!
29) What’s your revision or editing process like?
Not too intensive for me since I kinda edit as I go along. Before I get started writing, I always go over the last part (sometimes all of it), to get back in my groove, and I'll tweak it if it needs it. Once I'm done writing, if I have a beta I'll send it over, and either way I'll wait a few days before giving a final read-through and posting. Naturally a few months later I'll be reading the fic on AO3 and find typos or grammatically weird sentences, but that shit happens to professional authors too so whatever lol. Update it and carry on...
40) If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
All fanart is definitely welcome lol, but generally the romantic fics are nearer and dearer to my heart so shippy drawings inspired by my fics would have a same-type-attack-bonus on my heart!
74) You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?
The CSS/HTML probably lmfaoooo.
Otherwise, probably the pairing if it's one of my captained ships, and the way I write my dialogue and don't spend any time describing shit like settings or clothing lmao.
Thanks for the ask @hillbilly---man!! 💜💜💜
[Context] <- still open for these!

omg hi!
EVERYONE!!! 'tis i, faire, back with some news (and general words lol)!
what's up with me? quick little life update: working full time (we been knew) but got a new job i start soon! to be completely honest, this and the exhaustion i feel from it have been keeping me from writing ]: i am so tired after a day of work, i can't come home to use my brain again. i also have terrible time management skills due to my anxiety and depression BUT! i have started medication! i was already a little nervous to just because i didn't want it to make me feel weird, but i told myself that i have to try things before i write them off, especially if i want to improve my health [,: i took my first lexapro last night and it made me hallucinate lowkey so lets gooooooo!!!! lmao
what's up with safety net? safety net p5 is COMING YALL OMG. i know i've said that a million times, but in (once again) complete honesty, i was STUCK with this part. part 6 is honestly where everything kind of happens, so trying to make this part the set-up for that was driving me insane bc i didn't know how i was gonna do it. when i tell yall that i have so many drafts of different things that i wrote, plus the original outline that would've ended at maybe 10k words if i'd written it just like that. maybe one day i'll expose my different plans, but after weeks and weeks and weeks of ruminating over rewrites and other avenues to take, i finally made a final (very concise) outline that gives us the best of everything and i'm so exciteddddddd (literally brainstormed everything as a method of dissociation at work LMAO). it's a mix of what i intended originally with a new twist that adds a little bit more depth to the characters.....we're about to get into it y'all. everything isn't rainbows and glitter in this story after all
what's up with other fandoms? been watching invincible lately, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in some mark grayson stuff? his whole going off to college and not being able to be normal kind of made me start thinking....(really it was...something else that made me start thinking but i don't want to spoil anything for anyone watching s2 currently lmao WHY IS IT OVER ALREADY?????? just been thinking ab stepping away from jhutch a little (i still haven't watched detention, i'm so sorry) and doing different stuff to get myself back into being consistent on here! i'm also gonna start doing more bulletpoint headcanon stuff cause i can always just list things and blab lol.
sorry if there's any typos in this but that's about all from me at the moment. things are in the works [: see you all soon, hope you're all doing okie

I just stumbled upon your blog and I couldn't be more ecstatic. What a brilliant idea!
I don't know if im thinking too much about it, but I'm a creator and I found someone on your google document list who would be perfect for me with the subject I'm wanting for info about. But I've never done anything like this before. Reached out to others for information about a subject I need to know stuff about for my book. Should I have a liat of questions ready before I contact the person behind the Offer? Should I know anything about the subject before I contact them? I really haven't done much/any research myself about this yet, since I'm still in early stages of plot planning and idea-brainstorming. But I'm finding it all a bit difficult to plan since I don't know anything about this essential subject matter thats a core in my book. But I suck at research and I can never seem to find the right articles or posts and it's hard because I don't understand technical jargon at all. As soon as there's just one or two technical words, my brain just stops comprehending and fizzes out.
So. Yeah. I want to reach out to this person that has an Offer with my subject, but I'm worried it will be too soon in the plotting/writing stages for me or wrong of me or just lead to nothing, since I don't have a starting point and no prior knowledge about this subject
Hey, no worries! I'd say it doesn't hurt to check the Offerer's blog and read thru their pinned post (if there is one), then send an ask or just tag them in the reblogs of the original post (or this one)!
As for when to contact or what info to have in advance, that's not something I'm really gonna regulate. Just ask your offerer what they'd prefer for prior knowledge levels!
If the enthusiasm on all ends is anything to go off of, I'm willing to bet they won't mind a lack of prior knowledge- if anything it just means they'll get to infodump more!!

You probably talked about this before, but I'm not sure if you have a tag for it and I've only seen you commenting this sort of stuff when you talk about the fics you're planning to do. I decided to ask anyway because, well, why not?
So, do you have a process for making your fics? Like, an outline, general rules you keep in mind, narretive structures, whatever and etc? Any preferred structures or (snrks) quirks of narrative and storytelling you enjoy making or seeing on other people stories?
I don't think I actually have talked about this, or at least in detail.
All of my fics started as a simple elevator pitch, like 'What If All Might told Midoriya he could be a Quirkless Hero?' or 'What if Midoriya got magical powers from a death god during the sludge villain attack?' or 'Cathleen/Inko raising Izuku.'
Then I move on to brainstorming, where I develop the idea further and work out how I want to handle it. Haigha changed the most conceptually, so I'll use it as my example. It started as 'I want to write Midoriya with All For One Quirk, but not related to All For One.' During my brainstorming process, I came up with the idea of him being experimented on by AFO as a test run for Nine and Shigaraki, only for something to go wrong and that's how he ends up confused in an alleyway with no idea that his Rabbit Quirk is just one he snagged from AFO on the way out. However, as I developed this particular idea, I realized him having All For One wasn't actually as interesting as the mystery of what happened to him and what Quirks he had, so I cut AFO out of it, and reworked the concept to fit.
I also usually have some ideas for future scenes or chapters in mind by this point.
Then I move on to my timeline of events. Since a lot of my stuff involves For Want of a Nail--a small change that goes on to result in far more significant changes--having a timeline helps me keep track of how the butterfly effect is going, and makes it easier for me to adjust as I consider the implications of a specific change more.
I usually use this timeline as my outline, but the timeline in When Freemen Shall Stand is rapidly diverging from canon at an alarming rate, so I might go on to have a second outline specifically for the contents of individual chapters, which will also make it easier to add in more slice-of-life content.
From there, the trick is to do what helps the narrative the most. Haigha for example originally was supposed to start with Midoriya waking up and realizing that his body had been changed, and learning that it's five months later than he thinks it is. However, I couldn't make this chapter work. I think I've still got two or three scrapped attempts at it somewhere. I ended up writing the actual first chapter so that I had something down, and it turned out to be a much better starting point. Referencing his recovery and the effects of his disappearance without showing them helped the mystery, and Nedzu quickly recapping the most important points while seeding future events made it an excellent introduction.

March 2: Attempts
I've been sitting around for a LONG while trying to think of something to write so I have a worthwhile topic for this post for once but all I did was bounce around 100 days, settle on nothing, get distracted repeatedly, and become even more tired than I was as the hour became even later than it was. So. I guess not.
I am... not thriving, as the kids say. I feel like I've fallen rather suddenly into a rather deep hole, which is sort of scary. I am trying. I forced myself to go outside today and I think that was a good idea. It was warm, and sometimes the sun was behind clouds and not directly in my eyes, and my coffee was really good. I got a pretty good amount of work done, too. I finally outlined Ch1 of the Road Trip properly so now I am basically able to start writing it... there are still aspects of the aesthetic/setting I don't feel confident about, but at least I have a better sense of the scale. The outline has 10 points, very roughly coinciding to scenes; I think it will be long but at least it's more definite and I can see the scope better.
Then I spent some time writing out my ideas for the D/J fic before I start forgetting stuff, and I did some more writing down brainstorm scenes in the evening. Slowly, slowly, slowly making it more real.
I don't know. I have a lot of new fandom energy but, other than the drawer fic, it's not really translating into actual creativity. And I don't really have any...thoughts or emotions or anything about my old fandom projects. I care about them just enough to not want to jettison them, but mostly they feel like they can only be viewed through a pane of glass. Maybe that's not a bad thing. I've already been I this fandom longer than anyone else lmao. I... don't really feel done, and as I said, I'm still stubborn and want to write the things I planned to write. But I'm not currently very excited about any of them, even my favorites. So I feel conflicted about that. But all of it's irrelevant if I can't write. I really hope to force myself to do so tomorrow, preferably on the Jonty fic so I can just finish the dumb thing, even if I do nothing else.

weird questions for writers - 22, 24, 32! :3c
22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?
I like to think I'm pretty organised (mostly bc otherwise, the brain fog makes me forget a bunch of important stuff 😂) At the moment I mainly use a channel in my personal discord server to take notes, and I also have a google doc separated into chapters, which I use both for general planning and also to sort out the notes into chronological order. Please enjoy one note from my discord channel:
(usually they're longer/more serious... and then sometimes it's just stuff like this lol)
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
(I hope you don't mind the long answer for this one, I got a bit carried away phfjdhf)
It feels like a lot tbh, especially for longer fics like Destiny, but I do thoroughly plan everything regardless of how long or short it ends up being. (There are exceptions, like Wings, which I wrote in pretty much one sitting, without any prior planning, just because I was bored and sad that day lol. But that's not how I usually work)
Once I've got an idea in my head, my planning usually goes something like this:
Brainstorming. I'll sit down for an hour or two with an A3 sketchbook and coloured pens and just write down all my thoughts. I like doing this by hand as I can get really messy with it. Any notes I've put in my discord over time will also be included with this, often as a starting point that I then expand on. Once I feel like I've got everything down, I'll mark ideas with different colours to organise them. Here's the very first page I wrote out for Destiny:
Organisation. This is done in a planning document (like the aforementioned google doc separated into chapters), and is basically just a neater (and chronological) version of what I put on paper. By this point the outlines are still very general, especially for chapters far in the future if it's a longfic.
Chapter breakdowns. I find I can't write effectively without a roadmap of sorts to follow, so I get pretty detailed with these, right down to the specifics of each scene. Here's a little planning snippet from chapter 9 of Destiny:
And then I finally get on with my writing, lol. I do enjoy the planning stage, especially the part on paper, but I mostly do it because I struggle to write anything without a solid plan 😅
32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?
This is hard tbh, my memory is not good enough to remember specific lines pdfjjfh (also I pretty much don't read anymore bc brain fog 😔) but! I can tell you some of the fics that have resonated with me, and that I still think about often:
moonstones and heartstrings by soverane (Shenhe/Yelan from Genshin Impact)
but that night was different from all the others by pyresque (Eula/Shenhe from Genshin Impact)
observations of one barbara pegg, penned by rosaria by oofmilk (Barbara & Rosaria from Genshin Impact)
Undone by veronicasanders and 4theloveofdrag (Courtney Act/Bianca Del Rio from RPDR)
forever is composed of nows by beanierose (Trixie Mattel/Katya Zamolodchikova from RPDR)
all the love I never gave (before I left you) by holtzbabe (Erin Gilbert/Jillian Holtzmann from Ghostbusters (2016))
Tysm for the questions anon! :D

Hey! If you're still doing those character asks (no stress if not!!!), how about Nicky?
Heya baba :D!! Yes, these are still open and thanks for the ask~ <3
Nicky:
Nicky is another character I find very easy to relate and project onto. There's his relationship with his dad of course that reminds me of my mom and I. And being home alone due to work schedules in general. But there's also that strong desire to impress his family! Getting lost in trying to enjoy their interests while not leaving much room to openly explore his own. He, in any timeline, struggles with identity along with emotional vulnerability which feels very realistic. While I think Nicolas may have felt a bit more comfortable opening up, there were still moments where he was unsure like how he knew Glenn was a stranger but somehow familiar or how confused and troubled he was at the thought of his dad maybe being a hell demon in disguise. Sometimes I think Nicky is still feeling lost, never certain about his place in the world. Lots of bottled up frustration at everything that's happened and desperately wanting to make his own path but not wanting to lose anyone by doing so. And yet, he loses people anyway: his mom in one timeline, his dad Glenn faded from his memories temporarily, losing his closest friends, and finally-- Having to leave his own kid alone to keep both Cass and Taylor safe from the chaos that's always nipping at his heels. It all makes me so sad :( Seems like he would have loved to be there for Taylor before! Hope they get to bond more...wishing them happiness! I do wonder why he never like called or wrote a letter or something--probably to be extra safe (along with the memory stuff)? But consider...he has this box in his bedroom full of unsent letters that he writes every year. And they are basically like journal entries--stream of consciousness stuff about his thoughts about Cass and Taylor etc. From talking about an item that for some reason reminded Nicky of them. Or reminiscing some anniversary or date or silly inside joke. And even the first time he taught Taylor how to jump in rain puddles and Cass showed their little guy how to shake rain off like a dog might. They were all drenched and giggling that day, running back home hand-in-hand and Taylor between them. Whenever his emotions start overwhelming him, he rubs at his eyes and calms the swaying flames in his hair and on candles nearby. He carefully places the letters back in that box. Tells himself he'll work up the courage to set up a safe, stealthy plan to send one next year. (He may have some letters written for other people too. Though certain ones are a bit burned). So yeah, Nicky cares very deeply for his loved ones and is intensely protective! I think that's really sweet and cool...and love the soft and silly sides he has too! For the canon and bullied squares, I'm thinking mainly of his friendship with the other boys. I really wish we got more info on how they all interacted together. Though I think all the headcanons about the group dynamic are fun to read and brainstorm too!! Oh yeah!! I know there's the weird only visit hell once thing unless you're demon(?) but for my ideas...I imagine it wasn't always like that so it was easy for his friends to visit and hang out with him there before. But after the betrayal and the fbi getting more persistent, the stipulation came to be for safety reasons. Seems like his relationship with Jodie is rocky at best right now yet Jodie remains protective of him anyway (as shown with him destroying part of the fbi group in anger) so seems reasonable to do.

Vera I'm so sorry you are still shadowbanned! I wish tumblr would get their stuff together.
For the fanfic writer's asks: 1,5,12,25,55,69,71
Hope you have fun answering them <3
Hi, yeah the shadowban is….ugh, annoying. Definitely annoying.
Thank you for the questions!
1. Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?
Oh wow…I think I daydream more than I write. I daydream all the time and I’m pretty sure half the stuff that’s in my head I’ve never even started writing. But if I finally start writing then I’m not stopping till it’s done lol
I’ll sit the next few days on a one shot or chapter or whatever and I need to finish it. 😂😂
5. How many wips do you have? What fandoms/pairings are they for?
Fuck I- I don’t know
Let’s see
The au’s with @jamneuromain “broken bones and broken hearts” ( Steve Rogers x reader) & “together or not at all” (Steve Rogers x reader, Nick Gant x reader, Johnny storm x reader, Jake Jensen x reader) in the second one is a lot ready and there’s also a loooot of smut lol just so y’all know
Then there’s “drownin siren” Steve Rogers x mermaid reader
I’ve planned a sub!mafia!Bucky Barnes x reader one shot
A meet-cute for Stucky!! Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes
I have a Lloyd Hansen x reader smut Drabble ( ready to post actually)
Oh Noise pt 3, Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes x Reader smut, which is nearly finished [ pt 1 is here pt 2 here ]
I’m planning a grumpy!roommate!Curtis x reader au :) but haven’t started one this one yet
Oh god there’s also pretty boy pt 2, sub!Steve Rogers x reader smut [ pt 1 is here ]
Omg i still have more; mean!dom!steve Rogers x villain!(sub)reader
Is it weird that I’m already planning my kinktober list? But yeah I’m doing that too
I have also a pt two to the Lance tucker shot “stretch you (out)” that I think I haven’t posted yet?
I’m working on so many things rn fuck I hadn’t noticed until now
12. Do you outline your fics? If yes, how detailed are your outlines? How far do you stray from them?
Sometimes yes, I definitely some background stories and I like planning how every character met or if they had any relationships before with them etc
Definitely also about their family history or school
But I don’t think more than that
25. What’s your favorite part of the writing process (worldbuilding, brainstorming/outlining, writing, editing, etc)?
I love making moodboards hahhahaha
I like writing because of all the possibilities i have!
And also interacting with people. I know many people don’t leave feedback and that’s okay BUT when i finally see Someone comment or reblog something even with just a emoji or gif I’m in heaven. It makes me so so happy to talk about my work or answer questions. Idk, I just love interacting with others. I’d say im really shy in rl and it’s just so much better on tumblr. Here I feel like I found my people and I can be myself:)
55. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?
“He felt blood rush to his cheeks, making him blush”
I use this often or always the -ing verb form
I feel like there’s also always some kind of misunderstanding? There are definitely a few oneshots and fics with this trope
There was something else I wanted to addd but I forgot what
69. What are your favorite fic at the moment?
Ohhhh I love “in the snow” By @postmodernmulticoloredcloak
71. Do you spend more time reading or writing?
Id say it depends on the day. Sometimes I’m writing all day long and the next day I’m reading all the time:)
Thank you for all these questions!!!!! Love you!!!!!!

Hello! I'm Hazel, and I have a lot of OC's!
This is for Halo!
I have some OC's!
If you'd like to roleplay with me then you can message me. But first-
~
I only do literate, no * or stuff like that (I'll write an example).
I'd prefer it to be on Discord (but if you aren't comfortable with that, just tell me!)
I only write as my OC's. I feel very comfortable with them. You can be just canon characters if you'd like, I don't mind. If there are lots (like battles was stuff) in a scene, I'll do my best to help you.
This is going to be a one-on-one roleplay. No groups, it's too chaotic for me.
You have to be at least 19+ age range.
No minors, because I will be doing dark themes, NSFW, and the like. And no, I will not make exceptions. (Please don't lie to me about your age, that's just fucked up and I'll immediately block you if you do.)
You have to have knowledge of Halo (that would be obvious lmao.)
You have to put in just as much effort as me. It's frustrating when I come back to a two liner or to a lazy reply. Especially since I write A LOT. It would just discourage me. 50/50 is preferred. Don't force yourself to write if you don't want to (have health issues, feeling down in the dumps, ect.)
If you have OC's, that's alright too. Just ask me before you randomly throw them in. I'll be showing you my OC's in advance before we start writing. Just know that I do still want you to control a canon character-
COMMUNICATION IS KEY. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't be afraid of me either, haha. I just have to be firm.
And please don't ghost me, several people have done that and it just hurts. Tell me if you're going to be gone for a while, or if you want to change the rp, or you just need a break.
What Halo media am I most comfortable with? No particular order!
- All the Halo games! Currently watching a play through of them all over again! Will be getting to Infinite soon! I've seen some clips.
- I do want to read the novels/some comics of it. Perhaps when I have the time and means!
- I would love to do crossovers of my different OC's falling into Halo...or Master Chief coming to one of the universes my OC's are in. We can brainstorm together! ❤
(The Halo TV show...? No, I'm sorry. I don't like that at all. If you like it, that's great. But - like how a lot of other people feel - really didn't get Master Chief right at all.)
Those are what I'm familiar with. If you also like these, then hit me up. We'd have to talk a bit before writing, such as your own limitations, boundaries, and the like. I'll do the same!
Now, here's an example of my writing that involves one of my OC's.
~
This is quite the predicament that she's in, isn't it? Pinned down by Covenant and with injured Marines beside her. Vex shifts, armor whirling as she grips her Assault Rifle closer to her chest plate. Her mind whirls with possibilities and outcomes, her processor shooting to different scenarios as she barely scans over the top of the ridge she's behind. She only gets down when a Marine grabs her arm. The added weight immediately makes her kneel down farther and turn to the Marine, concern evident as she places a armored hand over his. She'd done her best to use the biofoam to patch them all up.
"Don't...run out there. You'll- f-fuck...you'll die." Echo sputters, glaring up at her yellow visor. Quietly, she marvels at his emotion. They'd only known each other for this mission, and he's worried about her. How sweet. "I'll be doing just that. If I don't secure the landing zone, our extract will be compromised. Don't worry about me, Echo! Worry over yourself and the others. You're conscious enough to hold a weapon up. I trust you to take out any who try to ambush around this ridge...besides, they think I'm the only one alive." Vex brushes off his concerns, already coming up with a plan to get them all out of here alive. Gently patting his shoulder before lifting her Assault Rifle again, while also making sure her combat knife is secure, as well as her pistol.
Vex smiles under her helmet, striking yellow eyes glowing brighter as she hugs the ridge as she moves. Yes, she'll get them all out alive. They don't have to worry about her. She was made for this.
~
Of course, I'll write way more than that in my responses lol.
Now...onto my OC's!
~
Dr. Ophelia Penelope
(Help) (Weaver)
Creator of the Proto-Life project
Proto-Life is an offshoot of the Spartan-II program, planning to create androids using the highest possible technology and AI. Somewhere between 2520's and 2540's, this program was created by Dr. Ophelia Penelope, a researcher on AI, engineering, and technology advancements. She wanted to make artificial soldiers that could help with the war effort against the Covenant.
She made this project to ensure that more humans don't have to die, nor go through the process of painful augmentation (we all know it didn't the kidnapping didn't stop for a while and as a young Mother...she had a selfish reason for this project too). Dr. Ophelia made both Viz and Vex to prove they could make artificial intelligence and have them be more useful- not just in a digital setting- but a physical setting.
Viz was her first project...but it did not go as planned. She was cold and driven by pure programming. Efficient at her job, but only in a solo setting.
Vex was her second, and more successful one. Made with careful planning but her selfishness got in the way. Nobody needed to know anyways. She would be a perfect soldier, one with hightened everything to impress the higher ups. But with a personality that matched that or a human- and a body with the same properties as a human female.
She would go on to make a couple more before the program was shut down, due to many resources being used for it. The military suggested a cheaper solution- but Dr. Ophelia denied it. They need to be careful with it instead of using cheaper parts lest they want the androids to fall apart or be less intelligent for missions. Or even glitch out in battle. Especially if the Covenant gets their technology, that would be terrible.
Her hair is a soft chestnut color, with some white hairs in it from stress. Her skin is a healthy color of soft peach and she has soft onyx eyes. She's a bit chubby, not getting out much.
- - -
Proto-0: Nickname - Viz
Proto-Life is an offshoot of the Spartan-II program, planning to create androids using the highest possible technology and AI.
Viz was Dr. Ophelia's first real attempt at making a soldier that fit the UNSC and ORION project. She was created, or "born" in 2529.
Viz was a copy of the Spartan-II's, though she lacked the initiative and drive of humans unless the mission was at risk. She was made in the image of a ruthless, cold soldier that got the mission done at all costs. She had some human characteristics, but was designated too dangerous to humans as well given her calculations sacrificed the humans that were most unlikely to survive in her algorithm, therefore saving the most likely to survive.
With that, Dr. Ophelia created an AI that could calculate the best course of action in simulations. Self learning.
With this new AI, she was very efficient in simulations and even some small artificial combat missions with supervision. Viz has heightened intelligence, the more she learned, the more efficient she became. Being able to study combat styles, ect.
This improvement also resulted in an upgraded body. Wearing Spartan armor, a good 6'5, but under the armor- she had obvious none human traits, but had a human shape under the armor. Her eyes were not eyes, but blank visors in her face. With obvious gaps where her joints and body bent. She even had artificial hair- but could be improved. (Even private parts were there but sort of none human looking.)
The android was more suited for solo missions in the end- given there was no risk to human life if she is sent on a suicide mission.
Dr. Ophelia was never very...satisfied with Viz. Wanting to improve her, make her more human. Better for group settings, missions that could help others, and create connections even when given the opportunity.
Therefore, Viz was left with the UNSC for highly dangerous missions on planets, Covenant taken ships, and rarely deployed with a team.
For the military, it was standard procedure.
Unknown to them, Viz's AI was improving everyday. She was still that plain slate, rarely ever taking off her armor unless she needed repairs. She was very non-human, something of an enigma among the spaceships she has boarded.
They never seemed to notice her hints of curiosity, or determination on a mission. She was never given a program to interact with others casually- still being a primitive artificial intelligence. It was never too obvious either.
A small tilt of the head, or looking out at the stars, or even staring intently through the visor of her helmet at other Spartan's she was modeled after. As if trying to read them. Not to mention, attempting to copy other hand gestures aside from military hand gestures.
Viz was spared barely any mind. Occasionally giving reports to Dr. Ophelia about her status, and being left by her lonesome most of the time. She was content but also...not.
It was strange.
She wanted more...
She was- jealous of Vex? Or was this just an error?
It's extremely confusing for her.
- - -
Proto-1: Nickname - Vex
Proto-Life is an offshoot of the Spartan-II program, planning to create androids using the highest possible technology and AI.
Dr. Ophelia's second attempt at an Android soldier was much more successful this time around. Maybe because she modeled it after her...deceased child, who was in her mid-20's when she died.
This was the one. Made with the utmost care, with every design being intentional and a lesson learned from the first project.
Vex was much more human looking, basically identical to a human female (even private bits in case she needs to blend in), if you don't notice the faint seam lines where her limbs bend or the spinal strut along the middle of her back that connects to the armor, as well as along the inside of her arms and legs (the ones on her limbs close when not in use though). She has soft light brown hair, that's done in a low ponytail. The other abnormal part of her are the eyes, which glow a sharp yellow color. The irises are robotic in nature if you look closely. She is pale because that's the faux material that was used to make her skin, and she doesn't tan since it's not real. She stands at a reasonable 5'8.
She imitates a regular human, with a more defined personality than Viz. (Ophelia modeled it after her daughter.)
Out of combat, she is calm but sweet, never panicking too much unless she's joking around. There is also a firmness to her when those ranked below her don't act to save themselves. She can even be excitable- but doesn't understand many social cues strangely enough and can be blunt (whether that's good or bad depends on the situation.) There is a strange believable sense she actually cares for humans. Most don't even know she is an Android unless they catch her disconnecting from her suit (which she is rarely out of unless for maintenance), or she gets injured and doesn't bleed. Or she ends up glitching out (which doesn't happen often).
Of course, there is a serious side to her. In combat, she's ideal for group settings and protecting civilians. Rescue and recon, while also being sent into more dangerous zones that need to be taken back/defended. Vex's directive is to finish the mission and protect any humans in the area- even other Spartans. They are human too.
She is not overbearing in her protection, knowing that others can defend themselves. But don't put it past her if she sees you're injured, and immediately starts to protect you/give medical attention if need be.
Vex was made to be as perfect as possible. An ideal military asset, but personable and approachable. But follows orders to a T.
Making hard decisions is...hard for her though. Her directive is to keep humans safe but also complete the mission. Strangely enough, her systems find trouble in choosing what to do so she usually protects the humans first before actually doing the mission. It's why she needs to be on a team, someone needs to direct her one what to do (usually an authority figure or another Spartan).
Dr. Ophelia prefers her too, despite also taking care or Viz occasionally.
But like Viz, even with her path set for her...there are a couple unknown kinks she doesn't report. For instance, having an unseen admiration for Spartans and a *need* to prove herself. To *impress* one of them. There is also a sense of feeling incomplete. One could make out signs of Identity Crisis that develops in her- especially after contacting Dr. Ophelia and being refered to as her daughter or being given affectionate nicknames.
Her systems doesn't allow her panic- but there is a dread that overtakes her. She doesn't *understand* it though, and it confuses her. Makes her unfocused and hesitant. Not understanding why her hands shake, or her chest feels hot, or why she doesn't feel like she's who Dr. Ophelia thinks she is. But she is? She was made by her.
Despite this...she still does her job and cheers others up, and protects them. Even though it haunts her.

Fay Kostantinos - Female
(Fairy) (Constant, Loyal)
Communication's Office (On Ship and in Field)
Age - 29
Got moved to a more relevant Communication's position in 2552 (Halo 2) given her successful track record and how long she'd been serving the UNSC. She is both active on ships - and in the field as a mobile Comms Officer.
Originally, she was a normal marine but thanks to particular nasty wounds, she was delegated to a better position. One where she was still active but less in the combat. Fay didn't like it for a long time, especially given she was unable to serve or be on the front lines anymore.
The injuries - She ended up getting badly wounded when trying to save her squad from a surprise Covenant attack. She took a sticky plasma grenade to the right of herself. That ended up burning and seriously damaging her right eye and right eardrum. Burn scars are scattered over her right side like a spider web crawling raggedly across her body. Ever since she has serious PTSD when around bright flashes of light. Sure, she can take bombs and loud noises, but she really gets a rush when facing the Covenant.
(She did end up killing the ones who ambushed her then dead squad.)
Perhaps it's wanting revenge for putting her in this position. Making her feel useless for so long, and injuring her so bad that she feels like she's burning alive more than she'd like every week.
Or perhaps it's just fight or flight on top of a serious PTSD episode.
Even when Fay has been put in this position, practically half blinded and half deaf- she is a damn good Comms officer despite those that doubt her. She would rather be in a personal squad but hers *died* so there is no going back (there may also be a fear for getting them killed again). There are points where she does still fight- going against orders sometimes and being reckless that goes hand in hand with her boiling want to prove herself. Eventually, she did find some semblance of peace in her position (that didn't stop her from being a little too eager to throw herself into battle).
Fay has always admired Master Chief, as well as feel envious of him. To be able to do what he does is what she wants to do, though she knows she's not suitable for any type of Spartan training.
So when she is either on Comm's with him to give him updates, sees him around on the ships (when she is also around), or even gets to be out on the field with him? Fay is both a bit shy and slightly competitive. Depends on her mood on that given day. Most days she can lack self-preservation in wanting to prove herself or just wanting to save others from being killed like her squad.
As for some side hobbies...she loves to create art. Painting, sculpting, the like. Usually it's to get her stress down and have a distraction- or just vent since she doesn't have many friends. Fay hasn't gotten close to anyone since her squad died. Aside from being introverted, off duty she can be almost uncannily calm sometimes...given how she can act on the field. If she is comfortable with you, she can actually be rather sweet - awkward - and socially sort of inept.
Fay wears the standard marine gear and comms gear on her back, but has it modified by cutting off the right sleeve and wrapping her arm with thick cooling bandages with her hand. she doesn't change the pants of course (but there are also cooling bandages around her right leg). There are also ones wrapped around her neck. Fay doesn't let anyone see her face either. Always having on a mouthguard and visor with the standard helmet and some comm's headphones.
Under it all she is quite pale, with light brown hair and bright green eyes. Keeping her hair up in a ponytail most of the time. Her right pupil is a bit greyed though (but she can see out of it...usually covers it under her visor.) She has gotten used to no depth perception too. Her chest is medium C and she is fairly curvy too with light muscle tone. She's around 5'7.

Cici's summer job
The plan was to work for another museum in town (a neat old mansion north of town), but they seem to have lost their executive director rather suddenly and now no one answers the phones.
We dropped by to see if the face-to-face method would work better. Cici walked around until she found a little group of people surrounding a nervous young woman on her phone. Everyone seemed to be looking to her for direction so Cici asked if the museum was open and if she could talk to whoever is currently in charge. The girl said she had no answer for either question. She was a volunteer docent and was supposed to be showing this group of people around the mansion... but she couldn't get in and couldn't get anyone on the phone to let her in.
Cici decided that maybe this wasn't going to be a great summer volunteer opportunity.
Sitting around the house watching YouTube all summer was going to make her crazy so we brainstormed some other options.
There are only two museums in town (honestly not bad for a small town). There are other museums around but they are some distance away and she still isn't driving. I couldn't take that much time out of my work day to chauffeur her around.
"What about the auction house?" I asked.
Over the winter, we went to the bi-weekly auctions at a local auction house -- largely as a form of (relatively) cheap entertainment. The people running it are really nice and they got to know us quickly.
We are new faces in a small town and Cici (with her fabulous vintage fashion style) makes an impression.
Anyway... Cici contacted the guy saying that she wanted to research and catalogue his stuff as a volunteer because she loves to research stuff... and he got really excited. He got so excited that he called his wife and she got really excited.
So we set up a meeting. I got to tag along because, as I noted before, I am still the chauffeur.
This guy, Brian, has a ton of energy and, as you can imagine as an auctioneer, he can TALK.
Brian, his wife, and his four dogs showed us around the store room. They showed us the back store room. He showed us the back, back store room. Everything is piled to the ceiling with boxes and furniture and... well... stuff.
He suggested that Cici start out by researching old books. He has a lot of them, sitting unloved in piles and corners and under tables. I got the sense that he and his wife were less interested (personally) in books then some of the other things that passed through the auctions.
Besides, they were already pretty busy getting ready for some upcoming auctions.
He gave Cici a box to just try it out.
Cici was done in a day -- and found a rare book that was worth some money. It was an unexpected find -- a yearbook of New York state legislators from the early 19th century that just happened to contain a photo of a famous abolitionist.
This abolitionist (who briefly served in the state legislature) was a man who had almost no pictures taken of him and this is what makes the book valuable.
Without research, no one would have known. And this book is in really good condition.
...And that was just the beginning.
Brian is now really, really excited about this whole idea (and is working out ways he can pay her). "Do you want to run your own online auction?" he asked. "For the books?"
Cici said, "yeah" because... well... why not?
We went to return the box books and turn over the spreadsheet she created.
We came home with five more boxes of books. This is my dining room.
It's a lot of work. Cici has to look at the old books -- most of them from the first half of the 1800s -- and figure out if they have any value. Then she has to write descriptions, code them for the auction, and take photos... but it is keeping her busy and it is interesting work. She is learning a lot about books and (because she can’t help it) a lot about the woman who originally owned the books. Brian is going to give her a percentage of the profit from the auction.
If you can't tell, I'm really excited for her. She's having a ball with the research. The photography she could do without... but she loves the hunt.
I'll post a link here when the auction goes up.
She is occasional dropping photos of her ongoing work on her Instagram stories if you want to drop in.
