hey syd thank u for ur advice! i'm back for more w some examples of things my friend did that have me second guessing about whether she's just being friendly or more. i was doing a shitty internship and working from home and she drove for like 30 mins to bring me my fave cinnamon scrolls. we decided to watch all the ghibli movies and she secretly crocheted me a stuffed toy of radish god. we went to the world's worst comedy show and she put her arm around my shoulders and she always holds my hand when we watch horror movies. but im really worried i'm misreading thigns and it would be so embarrassing if i went for it and i was wrong. bc we have all the same friends so yikes! anyway if u have any tips for lowkey low risk flirting strategies im all ears. thank u for ur sage elder sibling wisdom

i get that fear of misreading signs bc the embarrassment is scary when youre in the same friend group but it sounds like youre close enough friends even if it was somehow NOT mutual (unlikely to me) youd eventually be cool again. that being said subtle flirting is easy!!! id start with returning the physical affection she shows you. hold HER hand first. rest your head on her shoulder and curl up closer next time you watch something together: thats subtle enough if she pulls away or something (doubt she will) you can just be like “oh sorry i was sleepy” since you guys are so touchy it wouldnt be weird to do. think of something she likes OR something you guys have recently done together and get/make her a little gift related to that!! shell be thrilled!!! you can even be like “i remembered how you like x/ive been thinking about doing x with you” so she knows shes in your thoughts :) if small things like this go well you can even get a little bolder and broach convos like “what do you think a perfect date would be” or anything related to romance in a impersonal way lol. all of these are within the realm of plausible deniability so if you dont get the reaction youre hoping for you can step back and get off scotch free. not that your friends would make fun of you but if they tease you about it you can play dumb and give them no ground lol
