May I recommend Deep obsession on itchio? It's 18+ tho, so heed the warnings.

Man... that sure is a r18+ game that I just played. That being said, there are some pretty interesting things after a lot of the smut parts were done. You can play the game here if you are interested. This is a game submitted to the Stained Red Yandere Jam which I will not only be participating in but also do recommendations from.

The story starts out with Hex on the news learning about how five reporters went missing after trying to go after a snuff streamer. Hex doesn't believe the news at first but becomes curious, searching into it. After some searching and getting a link, they log into one of the streams to see of course, a snuff stream. While horrified by the death of the lady on stream, Hex becomes entranced with their voice, something that they try to fight the urge to look to again. The next day, they go to the mall to get some snacks and hang out, only to have someone tap on their shoulder when resting. They find a chocolate in their pocket and presumably get their keys stolen (though they don't seem to realize this, believing they lost their keys) before going to sleep after the neighbors help them get in. After a restless night of what they presume to be sleep paralysis of being touched and watched, they get the morbid feeling of wanting to watch the snuff streamer again, to which they do. After jacking off and promptly falling asleep watching the stream, they wake up with a jolt, only to be kidnapped. Upon waking up, they find that they are indeed, captures by the person who they've been watching streaming. Hex actually gets quite into this, not only deepthroating but straight up asking the streamer to bite their thighs. They have various sexy times, with Hex seemingly into it.

If Hex is more or less chilled out, they will freak out when the streamer ends it stating that they will kill Hex. This turns out to be a lie, as the streamer actually keeps them alive as they like Hex. They reveal that their name is Victor. The last scene has Victor seemingly fighting his conscious as a mysterious person talks about how this will not last, how they are the same as the others, before he wakes up and coddles Hex to sleep.

If Hex screams, they will again freak out when the streamer states that he will kill them, though they reassure them that he will not. He also pretty much gets shot at, with the mysterious person, whose name is Simon, essentially recruiting Hex afterwards for something.

So far, it is a pretty interesting premise seeing Hex actually be into more of the snuff streaming things, considering how into Victor's voice they seem to be. I do like the kind of concepts where the MC is pretty messed up at least to this degree. We don't really get to know that much about Simon or Victor though. We know that Victor has been stalking Hex for a bit, considering I don't think it was sleep paralysis that was groping and watching them. And they seemingly know where Hex lives and even seems to know their name and probably gave them the chocolate while they were at the mall. Still, again, other than knowing that Victor is a snuff streamer, has no problems with killing people and likes Hex, we really know very little to nothing about him. Same with the Simon person who apparently hires us. I think it would be a cool twist that in the end Hex ends up being a snuff streamer as well, following in the twisted footsteps of Victor. The art style mostly consists of blacks and whites which is always a fun thing to see in terms of stylization. I'm not really into that kind of dark smut as much as other people (I'm more on the side of wanting to torture someone, but I know most people don't tend ot share that sentiment in the yandere community, so that's alright), but I think it can be appealing to those who are interested in that.

Overall, a short but dark story. Considering this is likely a demo, I am really hoping that they will flesh out more of the story for Victor and Simon since the start of it does seem to leave a lot of interesting pathways that might be nice to follow.

Why I like them/why I don’t There is SO much going on with this guy. He acts like he's superior than everyone but he's really got an inferiority complex. I do have a soft spot for Royal Rebel's Fanatic, though. She's cute. Favourite moment they were in It's hard to pick between Yuga and Roa's first duel, all of YNR, and Yuga and Roa's second duel. I think Yuga and Roa's first duel, though, is iconic.

The sheer iconic-ness of Roa trying to disqualify Yuga for a reason he know is bullshit. Trying to track down Otes so he can demand why he chose Yuga to be the inspiration of the next generation over him. This duel makes my heart break for Roa.

Yuga VS Roa 2 gets an honorable mention, though. Roa pretending to have lost his memories so he can get a new fresh start in his life because he thought he hit rock bottom, only to realize he was rocking it and everyone loves and supports him through it all, was PEAK. Least favourite moment

Ok ok, so last things first, thank you thank you so much!! I'm glad you like my silly little writting, such things are really really propeling me to write for this small fandom and I'm getting proper into it. I think I might have to do a list of things I want to write out so I don't forget any ot he plots that come to me sometimes randomly sometimes not.

And I got you back into watching lps? Omg, now that's a compliment like no other! Well then, I hope you enjoy yourself ^^. Feel free to report back with anything if you want to, you know I love talking about basically anything involving lps, whether stuff that acutally happened in episodes etc or just completely made up headcanons, AUs etc.

I too want to give those two a hug, well, all of them really, but of course especially Vinnie <3. I I could I would never let him go... okay, I would, because more than wanting to hug him myself I want his friends to hug him so I could release him for that.

However, I can still use that as an excuse to talk about them™ in the sense of that "how often they’d want cuddles" ask. It's kinda different and I'm taking advantage of that, even if this will be probably pretty short (compared to my other answers anyway >.>):

Penny/Vinnie, I'm counting those two together in the sense how often they want cuddles because for both of them the answer is "basically all the time", just, you know, Penny's rather open about it most of the time, Vinnie on the other haaaand not really. Penny is known as the affectionate one anyway and she has been doing this for years, so no one is surprised when she says she want affection. She will also often initiate it for those reasons too.

Vinnie though, well, he won't say it at all most of the time, the best you can get out of him are nonverbal cues like getting closer to you, "accidentaly" tripping and landing on someone, just standing there are staring at you with the most intense gaze ever "...What's going on?" Sunil flinched seeing Vinnie's peculiar position "Nothing, just chilling like that." "That literally does not look like chilling one bit." Honestly, he looks like he's planning to pounce on you and gouge your eyes out. One thing though! He can use his permanent coldness as an excuse if he's really desperate, he can just say that he's cold as he awkwardly tries to initiate a hug or cuddling and say that's the only reason why he's getting closer.

See why those two are so great together? She wants cuddles all the time, he wants cuddles all the time, perfect, right? That is if Penny manages to break through the tall, tall walls of tsunderesness he exhibits when it comes to physical affection, but then again I'm pretty sure she knows how it really is with him ;) everyone knows actually oop

Minka: I think she really likes cuddling but is not up for them all the time because that requires staying in one place for sometimes long time and often she's too hyper for that. Aside from that, yipee, give her cuddles :))), he's happy to initiate or join, be prepared though because she might jump on you when you least expect it

Zoe: she prefers other forms of physical affection like kisses, but that doesn't mean she never wants cuddles because she absolutely does. At the same time she might not be up for them all the time either because she's worried (I mean, rightly so) that it will mess up her hair or create wrinkles on her clothes, maybe even destroy her make up if she's not careful. Still, wants cuddles sometimes and thinks they're great

Pepper: oh she's definitely not up to admitting that she wants any sort of hugs or cuddles most of the time just like Vinnie, but at the same time she doesn't exactly crave them that super often. Will only do it if the other person initiates them and even then she will pretend that she doesn't really like it all that much (contrary to Vinnie who after initial protests and all that once cuddled will normally go quiet about it and enjoy himself)

Sunil: he mostly wants cuddles when he's scared/worried/anxious, basically feeling any sort of negative emotions because it makes him feel safe and grounds him. Besides that, he craves them sometimes too, but not quite as often as certain others, still, he won't complain one bit at being cuddled at any point. I think he likes when someone lies on top of him cause then they're like a human blanket for him and it's just nice, squishy sort of pressure

And last but not least, Russell: hmmm I think he'd want cuddles pretty often, I know we're talking about human au, but in his case I'm following the logic that he in one episode (season 4 episode :3) said that "nobody wants to hug him because of his quills" and bby was really sad about it :(. I don't know what could replace that in human au, but anyway that's how I conclude he likes cuddling. He might be kinda like Zoe sometimes in not wanting it to happen because it might wrinkle his clothes if he's supposed to be somewhere public that day, but aside from that he's definitely not opposed to them, though I think seldom he might be a bit tsundere about cuddless too

Welp, this ended up pretty long in the end, oops. Honestly I call bs on that, they all want cuddless all the time and they deserve them, let us make them all cuddle all the time with each other in a big ass pile

Normal update, winter XXIV

BUT IT'S NOT WINTER ANYMORE HA! Happy after-equinox to y'all. I planned to write the update in march and it's still technically march but, like, y'know, it's the first day of spring so it feels kind of late, ig? Not that it really matters here and I drew Morana on fire so all is good.

This is not completely [un]related but I'm trying to complete the 'draw sth for 100 days straight' challenge and rn it's going okay though I have to admit I'm being a lazy ass. But hey, a bad sketch a day is still a drawing. Not sure if that's the reason I wasn't able to complete my easter sketch dump but knowing me it wouldn't be finished anyway so whatever ig. AND YES, I WILL DRAW FATHER DAKI ON TIME. I planned to do it when I was drawing Agatha for thug in PE's style but oh well... You'll see both ot these pics on the first of april.

Also, like, in case anyone was interested, I finally decided to learn how to adult and might open comms this year? I tell myself I'll open them since, like, 2020 so yeah. Maybe. I think I will, tho.

Current game stuff

Mushroom game... Yeah... It exists and I technically haven't dropped it but yeah... Yeah... Tbh I even hid the link from my page but it's still public and all... But yeah... It goes into the "finally finish it in 2024, you stupid fuck" list - which, incidentally, is a mouthful so from now on it's gonna be "24 >:C" - together with Enmity and all.

Remember the golem game? Yeah, we don't see its non human form but I did technically draw it. Humanoids are, like, so last decade. It's called Sorcerer's golem and because I was not the lead, we managed to nicely finish it on time ✨ [Unrelated but I wonder what happened to the old unicode emotes, I need to look into it]. There's not really a lot I have to say here, tbh. It's short, it's wholesome, I'm totally not gonna go almost fully lineless again. I almost died and it was only two sprites. Never again proceeds to do that again later anyway.

Some time after, or maybe during, I can't really remember, I heard of Queer Vampire Jam and ofc had to join because I wouldn't be me if I managed to stop myself from joining yet another jam. It just so happened I both felt like shit and read something from my SF gods at the time so I commited this open ended 3k long story and it's, like, really obvious how I felt and what I was reading but then I decided to go yolo and publish it anyway, especially since I got an editor and made laby draw for me. Just had to publish it at that point. Enough about that, though - let's see what is it all about. Vani vani, because Tas tatum was deemed too lame of a name is a story about a [queer obviously] vampire who's kinda dead inside and it shows. I did say it was obvious I felt like shit. I'm not sure if it ended up being too edgy or not... I mean, I made it really obvious it's, like gestures vaguely y'know? I don't wanna spell it out but, like, the theme and everything there was so obvious I'll be disappointed in you if you didn't get it based on the pun title [the other two layers of puns there aren't as obvious] and the page/thumbnail. Unless, of course, you never heard about it at all which might be the case for people from other continents, I wouldn't know. I realise that doesn't say a lot about the contents but I mean, it's more of a progress update, I'm not actually trying to market anything here lol So whatever. It might be the only game ever where I put a whole nsfw scene of a sexual nature... Or it might just be the beginning of my unsexy h scene adventures. I even asked others how to make it as unsexy as possible and I hope I succeed. Going into gore or kink migh be sexy for some but boredom? Probably to no one who actually reads it. And, as is the case with my other personal games, not a lot of people read them. So I think I succeed at that. It's just the beginning of my SF adventures, though. Be prepared.

Now for the thing that might interest the potential reader the most because I saw the statistics and I bet all the follows are alse due to that - Impostor Syndrome. I know the page is pretty much silent but we are working on this. The common route received a lot of notes to make it longer, more cohesive, funnier and possibly better for all the gremlins that wanted a troll mode. Or at least that was the plan. Route wise we had something but after some consideration, it had to be basically scrapped. I won't go into all the details here as for why, but the rewriting of the outline is proceeding. Slowly cause it's kinda hard to find the best time to talk when you have multiple people from different timezones to consider but I think it's looking good. There's a sliiight possibility it might be a bit less vanilla than, like, your typical sfw otome but I don't think any vanilla lover would think it's too much or anything. Not nearly kinky enough for that. I think labelling it as having a soft dom MC might even be false advertising. Maybe. Hell if I know, I suck at tags. But yeah, it's proceeding. Obviously it won't be out during winter but I do think it will be finished this year. Most likely.

From other game stuff... I might have a monster type project made with Ameena for you. Or I might not. The designs are done but is anything gonna come out of them? We'll see. Leaving the possibility open.

I helped Doibats [who I helped with Cool Days before] with some art. This time it's an rpg, currently still in development. The cool art direction is still there so I think it would be worth a play when it's out. I think I'm more of a guest artist than an actual member of the team, though lol But yeah, check it out when it's done, I'll link it then.

Yet another game where I didn't do much - The Villainess Just Wants To Eat!! had its full, official release 🎉 Congrats to the team [check out their gui, btw]. I was mostly helping with this or that due to the usual jam team stuff that happens but yeah. Syd wrote afterstories for the charas, too. They're technically linked on the game's page, too, but you can read them on her tumblr, too.

I kind of forgot to mention, which also ties with my next point, but she hosted the Ossan jam again which I planned to join with my nano project about Wedding crashers but I overestimated my ability to write energetic chaos so... umm... Well, it's not dropped and while it won't get done in time for nano, I think I'll manage before Ossan jam ends. It started as a loose idea that kinda parodied romcoms and then the protag became an AAA battery but also aplatonic and then I got some concepts from tea[? - dunno how they want to be called 'officially' and this one seemed safe but?] and yeah. I'm trying to work on this, though. Even though I feel so stupid attempting to write an anthropologist. Should've stuck to writing mostly what you know like with Vani vani, eehhh... Wish me luck o3o

The last thing, or two, probably, is more of a... forecast? I happened to help with the editing of a certain 18+ otome game but I'm not on the team or anything so I can't really tell you more since I don't know how much should I reveal to the potential player but from what I've seen, the development goes well since they started making it for nano and might actually be finished before Otome jam ends so I'll link it then.

The other thing is that in an unspecified future I might have a yet another AAA battery protagonist, this time replacing the MC of an otome isekai story. I'm not sure how much I'll help with [maybe just editing, maybe we'd become a two person team, who knows] but it has a hight possibility of being developed eventually. No set dates or anything, though.

Remember Tentacle jam and Insect [adjacent] jam? They're still happening, I'm just being lazy setting the pages up. The working date is from around the middle of august to the middle of october due to all the other jams happening at the time. I think it's the final date, though. It's come to my attention there's also the Monstrous Desires jam that also shares the timeframe almost perfectly so, y'know, why not make a game that lets you join all three of them? Just a thought.

I know other have said similar before, but thank you for pfmmpd. My struggles with uni and life in general are rather different than LWJ‘s in your fic, but it’s been rather comforting. So much of uni life in fic, tv, mainstream media is about how it’s the time of your life, happy & carefree and then there I am, ball of misery and anxiety, too scared to see the campus therapist. So, sorry for my rambling and thank you for your wonderful story

hey anon? there’s no need to be sorry ever for rambling about how my writing matters to you. I want to hear it! I want to hear about your experiences!! thank you so much for telling me! I’m the sort of person who tries to relate by sharing things about myself so i get it when other people do it too, really, i promise. it doesn’t matter that someone said something similar already, you’re your own person, and it matters that you said it too

so like, i’m gonna take a second to be the one who’s about to overshare--my mental state absolutely TANKED in college. my sophomore year is nothing but a hazy string of bad memories (warnings for thoughts of death and self-harm, skip the rest of this paragraph if you don’t want to read that), including the night i spent crying uncontrollably in a hallway convinced that i would be dead by the morning, and the night i seriously contemplated breaking my own arm with a wrench, only to be seized with so much panic i called my friend sobbing.

that’s two short examples, but i could go on for literal hours (and I have! to my therapist lmao). the point is, college was not the time of my life. when I finally, FINALLY decided to take a semester off to try and piece myself back together, i felt like a horrible failure because my mom had told me repeatedly, “college is going to be the best time of your life”. and when i told her that, she said, “oh. I almost died when I was in college.” we were even both 19 lol.

here’s the thing: after that half year off, i went back and enjoyed myself. A lot, even! i lived AND prospered bitch!! i didn’t achieve that “time of my life, happy and carefree” fantasy, but i DID find a measure of joy. however, there are people i know, really wonderful amazing people that i love with all my heart, who dropped out and never went back. or dropped out and didn’t go back until their 30s. or stayed in college and absolutely hated it. not one of them did it “wrong”. people are different. circumstances are different. 

i know how frightening it is to try and make an appointment with a campus therapist. the first time i tried, I left so anxious i immediately decided to pick up another class with the thought that, hey, if i JUST PACK MY SCHEDULE i won’t have time to go and that’s my excuse for not making another appointment!!! (spoilers: Bad Call on my part) but i’d urge you to give it a shot, if you think you can muster up the fortitude, even just once. i started seeing one of the counselors regularly after i came back and, while she was not perfect, it was still really really worth it and helpful, if only as a place where i could externally process my emotions. if you can’t, that’s okay!! i get it, i really really do. but because i get it, i also really don’t want to see anyone else ever fucking suffer like i did. i don’t know what your stressors are, anon, if they’re even remotely similar to what mine were, but. college is not how it’s always going to be. (if it’s academic, good enough is good enough. scraping by can be good enough. good enough can get you where you want to go.)

Summary: Faith and Loki are fuck buddies. Someone who was there when no one else was. When Faith was fucking around with a married man who all of the sudden decided to grow a conscience right after his wife got pregnant with twins. When Loki was cheated on by his fiancée only a couple of weeks before their wedding. It is a comfort thing and they were perfectly fine with it, why make it complicated with a baby? It’s ridiculous!

Chapter 18: What About Now?

1) ‘Faith was sitting on the edge of the building, one of her legs hanging down, the other bent under her body. She was just staring out into the night, it wasn't late and the night was quiet so far. Very unlikely for a saturday, but she wasn't complaining.’

2) ‘The door creaking softly didn't alarm her, as she thought it was the wind, but when she heard the unmistakable sound of footsteps tapping on pavement, Faith turned around.’

3) ‘“Um…” He started, but stopped suddenly at realizing where Faith was sitting. “Oh, my God! Get the fuck away from there!” He said, flailing his arms, but refusing to go anywhere near the edge.’

Do you have any advice for coming up with a plot when you already have your setting and characters? I'm not writing a fic but I figured fic writers also have heir characters and setting pre-plot and you're an amazing writer so I thought you'd be a good person to ask?

I’m not sure that I’m going to be particularly helpful here, because I haven’t written original fiction in a while and I’m the kind of fic writer who believes that if fanfic can be completely divorced from the canon, then it’s failed as fanfic, so I’m not sure how much of this is transferable, but these are some of the things I think about as a fic writer who writes primarily plotty fic:

To oversimplify greatly, plot is the pithy description: “The one where X happens.”  (Ex: The plot of Rogue One is the Rebel Alliance stealing the Death Star plans.)

Also: “The one where X happens because of A, B, and C” – “The plot of Rogue One is the Rebel Alliance stealing the Death Star plans because a Rebel intelligence officer and a group of rogues with various ties to the Empire uncovered the existence of the Death Star and decided to find a way to thwart it.”  (Note: This is not the only way to describe the plot of Rogue One.)

Plot is also the progression of events that make up the pithy description: Thing 1 happens, Thing 2 happens, and as a result of these things, Thing 3 happens; meanwhile Thing 4 is happening because it is not at this point affected by Things 1, 2, or 3, but somewhere along the line Thing 72 will not happen unless Thing 4 happens first.

This is the primary way that I plot – I’ll have scenes or images or lines that I write the story to use, and then backtrace to work out what things have to happen for those scenes to occur later on.

Wake the Storm is a good example of this: the two images that I wrote the story for were Anakin crawling through the ventilation shafts on Vader’s star destroyer and Anakin fighting Vader on Mustafar.  So I had to go back and figure out what the sequence of events for those things to happen would be.  (Wake’s a little unusual in that these are beginning and (near) ending scenes; Gambit and Backbone both have keystone scenes that are closer to the middle of the story as well, but Wake didn’t.)

Sometimes your brain is not consciously aware of these things, and you figure it out further down along the line.  Sometimes you’re further down along the line and you go back and reread and go, “huh, if I use X throwaway line, I can do Y main plot point.”

Plot should flow naturally from characters and setting.  Most of the fic I write is in a genre that I call a single-point divergence AU: if one thing goes differently in canon, how does that affect everything that comes afterwards?  Everything is progressive; actions have consequences both immediate and long-term.  Those actions will flow from characters, both from their choices and events that are out of their control.  (And what will be out of one character’s control will not be out of another’s.)

This is essentially the same method that alternate history writers use.  (I’m a historian, so I think about cause and effect a lot.)

I try to have an action plot (the sequence of events) and an emotional plot (the character arcs).  These should be inextricably intertwined and inform each other; the events of one will ultimately not be possible without the other.

Wake has two primary emotional plots: Anakin and OT!Obi-Wan

Backbone has two primary emotional plots: Hera and Cham.

Gambit is a weird case because the action plot and the emotional plot involve separate sets of characters – the action plot is what happens with the Gambitverse characters, and the primary emotional plot is what happens with the Wakeverse characters.  Certainly there are secondary emotional plots for the Gambitverse characters and a secondary action plot for the Wakeverse characters (and the primary action plot affects the Wakeverse characters because they’re present in that ‘verse, but it’s not their action plot), but Gambit was partially an exercise in seeing if I could separate the one from the other.  I can and did, but the effect was to make the story feel slightly lopsided in a way I’m not entirely happy with (but couldn’t avoid without changing the way I approached the story).

I come up with a lot more plots than I actually use, and about 95% of the time, they flow directly from canon because of the kind of stories I gravitate towards telling.  They also tend to be questions that I’m trying to answer.

Some examples:

How would Anakin react to suddenly turning up in the OT era?  (Wake the Storm)

What would the repercussions of this be, both in the OT timeline and in the PT timeline?

How would Ben react to Anakin suddenly turning up? Luke?  Leia?

What if Queen Amidala was the leader of the Confederacy?  (Queen’s Gambit)

What are the events that would lead this to happen?

What are the repercussions of this change, both in the past and present?

How would canon!Padme react to this?

What if Hera and Kanan were Imperials?  (On the Edge of the Devil’s Backbone)

What are the events that would lead this to happen?  Is there a point in canon I can use for this or do I have to make it all up out of whole cloth?

How this does effect other characters and events in the Rebels timeline?  Other characters and events in the saga timeline? (A.k.a. how important are the Ghost crew, anyway? – Remember that Backbone was plotted immediately after S1.)

What if Obi-Wan a Sith lord?  (All Along the Watchtower; planned)

What are the events that would lead this to happen?

What are the long- and short-term repercussions of this?

What if Anakin didn’t go dark side and survived Order 66? (What is Lost)

This isn’t a great example because I wrote this literally ten years ago and remember none of my thought process, and would do it differently today.

What if Obi-Wan was a woman?  (Oxygen & Rust)

What does this change in the saga?

The way that characters interact with her – how does that change the events of the saga?

Here’s an example from a TCW story that I partially plotted a few years ago, but didn’t end up writing:

In “The Unknown”, Tup reacts to Tiplar and Tiplee as Jedi, but seems unaware of Anakin, suggesting that Anakin may have been specially programmed into the chips not to be an Order 66 victim.

What if more clone chips started malfunctioning and all the Jedi were targeted except Anakin?

The most dramatic way for this to happen would be in a group setting, so that it’s immediately evident to other Jedi that Anakin isn’t being targeted.

That’s going to look suspicious as hell and the other Jedi are probably going to take Anakin into custody.

Let’s have Obi-Wan be injured in this attack and out of the picture, so Anakin feels trapped and alone.

Palpatine is pissed off because this isn’t playing into his plans at all, so he’s revising and improvising on the fly.

If all of the sudden Jedi can’t trust their clones, then that’s going to have massive effects on the war – a.k.a., the Separatists can suddenly make a huge push forward.  What if Dooku starts taking the war seriously?

Anakin’s an enterprising sort and after what happened with Ahsoka, he doesn’t have a whole lot of reason to trust the Order in this scenario, so it makes sense that he would escape.  (Maybe Palpatine helps to engineer this, because it’s easier for him to have Anakin loose than in prison.)

There ought to be a clone in here, make it Rex, who was aware of what happened with Tup and Fives.  He teams up with Anakin.

Rex is going to be wary of having that thing in his head and Anakin needs proof, so they need to find someone to remove it.

How is Padme going to react to all this?  Anakin doesn’t want to actively involve her, but he also wants to let her know that he’s all right.

Anakin escaping makes the Jedi Council pretty sure he’s guilty, but after Ahsoka they’re feeling burned, so maybe they proceed with more caution.

At this point Palpatine doesn’t have many options as Supreme Chancellor other than making Anakin look guilty; as Sidious this is an opportunity for him to recruit Anakin.

It would make sense for Anakin to contact Ahsoka to have an ally outside the Order, especially if she’s still on Coruscant.

at this point I stopped plotting this story out.  I never had an ending.

Here’s a link to some writing meta that I like (and which influenced me a lot when I was younger – you’ll note that this is where I got the terms “action plot” and “emotional plot” from).  Her 10 minute AU is essentially the same as my single point divergence AU, but she breaks it down better than I do.  (ETA: I want to clarify that I don’t agree with Synecdochic on everything, but I really can’t deny that a lot of this was pretty crucial to my development as a plot writer.)

This isn’t really helpful insofar as coming up with ideas goes, because when it comes to original fic, that’s…what I don’t write and haven’t written for a while, because I’m so used to bouncing directly off canon for ideas.  When I do write original fic, I have a tendency to mash stuff together – “classic urban fantasy + ancient Rome,” “traditional high fantasy + modern urban setting,” “prison hulks + space,” “New Orleans-inspired + WWII + magic” – and see what that gets me.  If it’s something like a genre – urban fantasy, high fantasy, prison break – then I look at what the common tropes for that genre are and how they function in a different setting.  And hope that something shakes loose.  (I haven’t done originals in a couple of years, and the last time I was working on one I was co-writing.  Which is a whole different thing.)
