I started to read this Novel called The Lord of Mysteries and so far it seems pretty interesting. I do notice that the main character isn't quite like the others since while he's not that freaked out about the whole "transmigrating into a dead mans life" thing, he's also kind of...strange himself? I think I noticed it when he casually mentioned

"killing someone" when he was in that weird fog place after he did the ritual to try and get back home. Maybe that was a mistranslation (I am reading it on Webnovel), but he briefly mentions how this power of his could be useful if he needs to kill someone, which caught me a little off gaurd it's like "Woah dude, what do you mean killing? Why would that even occur to you just then T_T?" I was thinking this ability could be useful to have cool secret meetings, and here he is thinking of other devious ways to use it.

He also just lies to the two people who he's with and let's them make grandiose assumptions about him, like that he's some kind of god or supernatural being with powers. So there's just something...slightly off about him you know, like I don't exactly trust him for some reason lol. He seems suspicious and a bit TOO calm for the situation he's in. And the way he just casually cleaned up his own potential murder/suicide and didn't seem too worried about finding out how he died (Dude just goes to casually buy bread and meat like his sister asked him too afterwards I guess who cares about that ominous note saying "we're all gonna die" it's probably nothing.)

My guess for why the Wizard and the Princess seemed so chill about him just calling them to this otherworldly fog place is because they think he's a "beyonder" since the Princess did mention and talk with the Wizard about trying to get powers like that herself.

I can tell we don't know jackshit and that the author is purposefully stringing us along and leaving some things out to reveal later which I'm fine with because it's literally called "Lord of the Mysteries"

Inuyasha crying at Kikyou's final death is very moving but I think it's important to remember that by his own admission, he would not have been able to cry for her, before. It's only thanks to Kagome that he feels comfortable enough with himself to cry at all and show vulnerability to others. That's what really makes that moment beautiful to me. (Though in a bittersweet way, obviously.)

I also want to focus on the "What true strength and kindness is" line because to me this implies Kagome is the paragon of strength and kindness that Inuyasha wanted to model himself after. Obviously we all know that potential was already in him and Kagome coaxed it out and praised it from him, but I think it's really beautiful to hear Inuyasha thought of Kagome as his role model, in a way. After all, being brave in order to help people WAS one of the first compliments Inuyasha ever admitted to himself about her.

it's a canon divergent fix-it fic that takes place from november onwards featuring sees ryoji :> I think my favourite thing abt this fic is the way lina characterises both ryoji and makoto, like I genuinely adore how she writes them in this fic. both of their inner worlds feel so rich and detailed and i adore how the pov switches give us a look into makoto and ryoji's different outlooks !! seeing makoto and ryoji's different perspectives on the same events is so interesting and it adds so much depth of their interactions. it's been such a joy so far to watch those two slowly get to know each other while also exploring how makoto's dealing with everything he's experienced up until then (the way she shows how makoto's been dealing with loss is so. augh <3) and I'm so excited to see where this fic is headed ^_^ every update has me kicking my feet in excitement hehe

and then there's persephone's curse by @sweet-sirin

this fic took me on such an emotional rollercoaster that it hasn't stopped rolling around in my brain since I read it. it takes place post canon and if u know abt persephone than u can probably take a guess as to where this fic is going. I don't wanna say too much bcs I think this fic is best experienced knowing as little abt it as possible but its just a beautiful exploration of ryoji and makoto's characters and just how stubborn they can be in their own ways, especially ryoji. there's so many scenes in this fic that are just stuck in my brain. it felt like every single scene and every piece of dialogue has some sort of underlying/second meaning and it was a ride unpacking everything as I was reading. everything feels so purposeful and meaningful its just so. augh. it emotionally destroyed me and I don't think I'll ever recover <3 it'll live in a special corner of my brain forever

So I'm watching my sister's dog while she goes out of town this weekend, and while she's gone I'm planning to do a 48 hour Spooky readathon where I turn my phone off and read as much as I can for 2 days.

.......I might have over-packed though. I wanted a variety of Spooky and Spoopy in case I wanted to read something different. Oops.

Currently reading For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten. Weirdly much more gory than I expected.

Blood of the Sun

Because what do you MEAN I was reading a longfic and then my fixation on the series swapped to another and now it's back and, oh yeah, I remembered I was reading this really good Percy Jackson fanfiction! Let's return to that!! And now it's as if I have been plunged into a cold, cold pool after sunbathing on the beach as the realisation slowly creeps in and gnaws at the corners of my mind that I, in fact, do not remember a single thing that happened up to this point and I'm too far in to reread it all again
