When people are like "it sucks to spend a week in bed doing nothing I feel so isolated and bored" I think I'm totally immune to that. What sucks is coughing too much to get any sleep from the hours of 11 pm-4 am but being in bed for a week with no obligations outside of getting better rocks for me idk

i feel like Jonah and Amy are the prime example why friends who are attracted to each other shouldn't necessarily date

Tag game: List 10 of your comfort shows, then tag 10 people
I was tagged by @twig-tea thanks for the tag. Like you I'm having trouble narrowing it down so I cheated a little and some of this are grouped together.
Group One is the Detective group, I used to love detective stories, which means I watched a lot of cop shows, there are some that I can't watch anymore because of the new awarness of the copaganda but these are the ones that I still find comfort in: Cold Case, Elementary, Murder She Wrote, Columbo and Ris Roma (italian version of a CSI like show, this is the first and only spin-off which I like more)
Skam OG S3 and Eyewitness and Skam Italia s2. These I am not reaching for as much since I have BLs now. But they are still comfort shows. Skam Italian s2 in particular I reach when I want to feel better about the borderline semi-fascist hellstate I'm living in, since it's the best gay rep we italians got.
Animated Group: Animaniacs and Tiny Toons along with Looney Toons cartoons I use as background noise kind of shows. And along with the anime Kodomo No Omocha (Rossana in Italian) they remind me the most of childhood. Side note sometimes I listen to intro of Rossana anime and feel like a kid again, cartoon intro used to be a pretty big deal in Italian dub cartoons 80% of which were sanged by a single woman.
Old Sitcom Group: The Golden Girls, Boy Meets the World, Full House and The Nanny
Leverage (not the new seasons, I don't really like them, just the old ones)
Community
Living Single
Superstore
The BL Group (the most recent and the one that I am now leaning to most of all): Until We Meet Again, Be Loved In House I Do, History 2 Right or Wrong, Semantic Error and My School President are the ones that bring me the most comfort.
This is mega cheating because they are not really show as in tv series. But they always bring me the most consistent comfort: Assorted Musicals and Theather Live Recordings. In particular = The Sound of Music, West Side Story 2021, Moulin Rouge, Les Misarable 25th concert, Into the Woods (the 90s recording), Much Ado About Nothing (the 2011 recording with David Tennant), Cats and an italian one Notre Dame De Paris an Italian-French Musical based on the Victor Hugo book not realted to the Disney version at all)
Bonus: the ones that are no longer comfort shows because I can never watch them again: CSI (all of them but I used to love NY), Law and Order, and Veronica Mars (which I haven't been able to watch since I saw s4)
And the ones that didn't make the list: My favorite Power Rangers series (they range from Lost Galaxy to RPM)
Tagging: @thehollowprince @heretherebedork @callipigio @benkaaoi @slayerkitty @respectthepetty
It's not 10 but I am bad with names so these are I could think of. No pressure to them of course.

So I started rewatching Superstore again after years of only watching the first couple eps and binged through the first three seasons and I despise how the last few eps of S3 treats Amy like Wtf writers do yall hate her?? What is wrong with you??
Spoilers for S3 for those who haven't seen the show under the cut:
Having her be pregnant with her ex-husband's baby and then INTERNATIONALLY LIVESTREAMING A SEX TAPE OF HER AND JONAH??
It's really fucked up imo and I just hate that they wrote that in. LET THEM BE HAPPY AND HAVE OTHER KINDS OF CONFLICT. Anyways yeah so this had pretty much turned me off the show. I cannot believe both of their first private moments were caught on camera and blasted for everyone to see

what do you think is usually a show's weakest season? i feel like a lot of shows where i loved s1 completely give me whiplash in s2 or fumble s2 and give me whiplash in s3, so i'm leaning into thinking those are the weakest seasons. this is really silly, but i just want your opinion :)
My fiancee and I talk about this a lot! We’ve discussed the possibility of charting it, because that’s the kind of geek we are.
The answer is that I think it depends on the kind of show. Strong arc-based mystery shows often have excellent first seasons and decline from there—see, Veronica Mars—because ultimately, even if they can justify their existence after that first mystery, they’re never going to tell a story that’s as vital as the first one. There are also a lot of shows that are, frankly, just one-season stories: I never watched season two of Quantico, but that show had one story built around one set of characters in one setting, and that was the entire engine. After that, you can keep going, but it’s a different show. The fun is gone! Or there are shows that could in theory go for multiple seasons, but just get really out of hand really quickly: Orphan Black comes to mind. I feel like the weakest season of any long running show in one of these categories is usually its last, although sometimes there are exceptions. (Veronica Mars’ weakest season is its third, although its fourth season is not, um, good.)
Procedurals and sitcoms (of a certain kind—there are exceptions) often pop, if they’re the kind of procedural that does pop, in their second or third season. I think it was a writer on one of the Criminal Minds DVD commentaries who said that in traditional 22-episode-a-season procedural TV, for the first season, you have to make the pilot episode 22 times. Maybe one character gets the focus this week and another the next, but you basically have to stick to the same beats over and over, so that viewers can learn the show. (This may be less the case now than it was in 2005, but I’m willing to bet there’s some truth there still, for network shows that run a full season.) Then, in season 2, you finally get to break up the routine and experiment a little. So depending on exactly how long it takes for the cast to gel and the writers to figure out what they’re doing, they often peak in season two or three. The best season of Criminal Minds is season 2; the best season of Community is season 2; hell, I think the best season of Supernatural is probably season 3, though it’s been a while since I checked.
But the thing about procedurals and sitcoms is that they often run for a really long time, and if their first seasons are routine, their later seasons are often atrocious. So I’m not gonna put a number on which season is the weakest for them.
And then there are the oddballs: Your prestige shows, your streaming staples, your CW shows with aspirations to be something greater. The answer there is... who knows? It’s tempting to say that a streaming show’s first season will be its worst, since they all seem to take at least 10 episodes to warm up and go anywhere, but Orange is the New Black has a great first season, and so does One Day at a Time. It’s tempting to say that CW shows inevitably bow to their worst impulses with time, but Crazy Ex-Girlfriend stuck the landing. Prestige shows are often terrible all the way through, and when they have individual off seasons, it can be impossible to predict which ones they’ll be.
Plus, there are tons of exceptions to the other trends. Elementary is a procedural, and its best season is its first (possibly because it is also kind of built as a season-long character-based mystery). Superstore is a full-season sitcom, and its best season is its fourth, and unless it runs a very long time, it’s not going to air a season worse than its first. Twin Peaks was a season-long mystery that had a great first season, a bad second season, and then came back twenty years later in a completely different genre for a reportedly great third season. (I haven’t watched.) The Good Wife’s best season is its fifth, and its worst is its seventh. The Magicians’ best season is its third, and its worst is its fourth. I have no idea what Farscape’s worst season is. Its first? Its fourth?
I do think there may be a tendency—Emily Vanderwerff has written about this—for shows to have a particularly poor season coming off of a particularly great one. (Buffy season four off of Buffy season three; The Magicians season four off of The Magicians season three; Community season 3—more mixed than poor—off of Community season 2.) But I’m not sure I totally subscribe to that theory; Vanderwerff’s explanation for what’s going on with Buffy and The Magicians is that they bit off more than they could chew, but when I look at those examples, I see three individual shows with three individual problems. (Buffy moved from high school to college and lost its thematic center, plus it lost the actress who was supposed to hold its central plot together; The Magicians locked itself into a plotline that sidelined a character they didn’t realize they really needed in order to function and completely misread how a vital storyline was going to play to the audience; Community was plagued by production delays and fights with the network, and was in the third and worst year of its six-year journey into trying to figure out how to use Chang.)
Ultimately, there are trends, and I can definitely always pull apart what went wrong with a particular series, but every show is different.
These are the TV shows that I know enough about to have an opinion on, and if you happen to feel like reading my thoughts on them or anything else, my ask box is always open.

since pretty much every show i watch is on hiatus it’s time for... making way too many gifs because i have nothing better to do with my life! i have already started planning a lot of stuff, but please send any other requests you might have.
i have elementary, magnum p.i., fairly legal, selfie, minority report, superstore, s1-2 of queen sugar, random episodes of doom patrol, the series finale of proven innocent, and the s5 two part finale of grimm at my disposal. ask away. 😜 oh also to the like 10 people who do enjoy my csi: miami content that’s welcome, too. 🥰
i’ll be queueing an elementary and a magnum pi set pretty much every day until i run of out ideas and requests or if i get lazy hahaha so i hope you enjoy. regardless, elementary rewatch sets from years ago will also be self reblogged for Nostalgia.
also, to that anon that sent me the request for sherlock outfits in the series finale i am finally going to get to it like literally a year later if you’re still here i’m so sorry. i was going through my blog to see stuff from around the finale and saw that ask and was like SHIT lmaooooo.
