He admires it whenever they're strict to follow the rules and understand the importance of it like how he is as well. Seeing how diligent they are about their schoolwork would also earn a good impression from the housewarden himself, even better if they're a decently knowledgeable person. - Though he probably needs someone who's always there in his most tired, vulnerable moment too; someone who will comfort him, tell him that he did well, etc. just be there to whisper sweet words, like how hardworking he was on that day, he'll melt into their embrace almost immediately. Let him rest his head on your shoulder or chest, slowly drifting off from tiredness yet his face looks so peaceful and content... Your warmth and gentleness are something he definitely needs after everything that he endured and went through. Of course, those moments are rare since he need to put on a front being a honor student and a dorm leader, so be sure to stick by his side to catch it. - He needs a s/o who can tell him to get loose and take breaks occasionally too, due to how he always being strict on himself. Or whenever he gets angry, they'll be there to calm him down so he won't start an outburst knowing how easily angry he can get. - He isn't really keen on appearance too much, but he would prefer it if his s/o know how to dress properly and formally enough. Of course, that doesn't mean letting this guy commit whatever horrible thing he's about to do, his s/o has an important mission and that is to stop him from getting scolded again by the teachers! - He's definitely an appearance type of guy, I mean, just guys being guys y'know; he's probably into cute, cheerful type or maybe a bit girly. But his s/o doesn't have to appear to his taste entirely, just someone being confident enough in their look also earns a point from him too! Giving him a big, goofy grin while making funny hand sings definitely would earn a laugh out of this guy for sure. - Because he's a rather mischievous type of guy, his s/o could be someone who can keep up with it. Or even better, being teasing or joking back at him, it would catch him off guard his s/o actually followed along and that would definitely want him to get their attention. The more unexpected they're around him, the more he would want their attention since he thought they're the most interesting person he has ever encountered! - Because he used to be a rumble delinquent, he probably needs a s/o that would accept his past and encourage him to not be scared, because they'll accept him for who he is no matter what, and that's what he's looking for the most in his partner because he too, want someone to tell him that it's okay to have a bad past, but what matter is how he is himself now and they love him for it~ - No matter how he acts, specifically, whenever he switches to his delinquent mode by accident in front of his s/o, he doesn't want you to be scared or avoid him because of it. That is the last thing he ever wanted - to hurt his partner. And if you saw his "bad boy" mode by accident, be sure to reassure him that you are totally alright with it and it won't drive you away! - He will admire a s/o who is diligent, smart and hardworking, since he is also a hardworking person after all. If his s/o is someone that shows their knowledge in a way that goes "Oh, I read this in a book that..." then our boy is gonna be super impressed! He loves it when you also talk about something you like too and share your knowledge with him, he'll always be ready to listen just to be impressed all over again like the first time. - I think that out of all the twst characters, Trey is the most easy-going when it comes to partner preference. He's pretty open to any type of people so to him, preference isn't something that he keen on too much, also since he's taking care of everyone most of the time or being the older brother figure, you can expect him to be the perfect, caring boyfriend~ - Though I think he would have special feelings more towards people that are mature with a somewhat older siblings vibe that is capable of taking care of others just like him. He might not appear like it, but he would really appreciate it if he's the one receiving instead of the other way around once in a while, it's the most effective way towards his heart! - It doesn't have to be a s/o that's mature or has an older sibling vibe all the time, they can also just be someone really sweet and supportive. Actively helping him out in the kitchen or tagging along with him in school, that is enough to tell him how affectionate they are towards him, and he too, would be affectionate back towards them. - Perhaps it could also be a s/o that likes hearing jokes or easy-going like him too. Occasionally, he would joke around or make small teases, and if his s/o replied with a laugh or just showed how much they're having fun around him, he would feel really relieved that they love this side of him too, since not many people can take jokes well or sometimes they would even take it seriously. They don't have to follow it, the way they give him a curious cute look while listening to him talking is already enough to show how much they care about him, and he would be so into them! - He's still overall a chill person that wanna take it easy, so he probably would like his s/o to be the same as him too. Sometimes, just a comfortable silence between the two of you would be enough as he scrolls through his phone casually, with your head on his shoulder or vice versa. - He might have a few preferences when it comes to appearance, such as a cute, trendy or confident s/o who knows how to style themselves. - Oh, you're pretty daring enough if you wanna date someone like him. I mean, he's the housewarden of Savanaclaw we're talking about here, a real lion prince, if you managed to get his heart then I'd say you're already pretty great yourself! I mean, you already saw how others think of him with their tails in between their legs... - Though, if we're talking about preference, he would definitely like someone who won't be noisy and interrupt his precious napping time. Maybe someone that lets him lay down on their lap, stroking his hair or his fluffy ears while he's sleeping. He might deny it but those low purrs and growls are telling a whole different story. Sometimes he could also use them as a great pillow to hug too, with his head on your chest and arm wrapped around your frame, just be prepared for staying like that for the next 3 hours though... - He would find naive s/o interesting too, so easy to mess around and tease, their expression is truly entertaining to watch with the way their round eyes look astonished, then blush brightly from the way he tease them. Like a lion messing around with the little naive herbivore~ He could never get enough or tired of it. - Maybe he would also like a s/o that can be bold or challenging at the right time. Surprises are a welcoming thing, and Leona isn't an exception to it. A somewhat teasing, flirty relationship between you two would be entertaining and also something fun that he would seek for, he does like it when his "prey" fight back after all, though he'll just eat them up in the end like a lion he is. (interpret it as however you want...) - Bonus: One way to really catch the lion prince off-guard is outsmarting him. Pretty hard to do considering how Leona is, I know, but once your wits manage to catch him by the tail, he'll be pretty surprised his s/o is someone more than just his expectation. Maybe acting a little bit daring while we're at it, but I'm sure that he knows how special his s/o is and that no one else is like them 💖

- I think for Ruggie, he probably would prefer a s/o that is smart and witty like him, maybe even better if they're street smart too as he'll be very impressed someone is the same as him. After all, people who have great practical skills can't be someone lazy from a spoiled, rich family right? Don't get him wrong, he didn't mean bad things, but it's just so because he grew up in such an environment, you couldn't blame him for thinking like that. - Though of course, it doesn't have to be someone like him, it could just be a s/o that likes to take care of others or be very supportive too. They can help him out with his errands; expect him to ask if you want anything in return though, since it has been his mindset for a long time now. But hey, if you help him enough in a sincere way without asking for something else, he might start to open his heart to you a bit and trust you more...? Everything takes time including love after all, so be patient~ - Another preference he would like maybe a somewhat naive s/o. Teasing them is nothing but fun for a cunning hyena like him. I mean, he could also use this chance to impress him with his skills in a way too, their face is just so entertaining to watch, but he probably warns them to be careful or bad people gonna get to them easily~ (ex: Ruggie himself) - Because Ruggie grew up really poor, he is someone who treasures and treats food way more important than normal people would, so if his s/o is someone who knows how to cook then he'd feel like he just stepped into heaven~ I mean, just imagine the happy but surprised face when they feed him such luxurious handmade food that they put so much love into, he feels like he's eating a buffet! His s/o could also make lunch for him daily as well, you two could share together as you feed him your homemade food, and his round ears would twitch in happiness for sure. - Bonus: Something sweet, surprising and genuine would be the best way to get his heart. - He would like someone very responsible about themselves and take their work seriously and fairly with no underhanded methods or cheating. Seeing how diligent they are, he definitely would think his s/o is a great and respectful person to be with. I think if they recognize him and compliment him back, that will get him flustered too, though he might deny it with a grumpy expression. (He's just being a bit of a "tsundere" as you call it) - Someone with a moral worthy of his respect is also one of his preferences too. Do try to not misunderstand his coldness, he's a real softie deep down, so if you act kind towards him with no ill intent whatsoever, he'll quickly understand what kind of a person you are and won't be cold towards you much the more you two hanging out... and maybe it'll turn into something more precious than just friendship~ - Once you earn his respect, he'll become your biggest protector that you can imagine. Nobody will dare to mess around with you once you have a giant bodyguard like him tagging along. If his s/o is a bit of a tease and affectionate person, remember to thank him with small pecks on the cheek or a hug, our wolf boy would be pretty flustered with a wagging tail! Speaking of that, he wouldn't mind a bit of a tease too since I think he would like it. (Although he'll deny it again or so) - He isn't an appearance type of person, but if his s/o is someone smaller or shorter than him then his protecting instinct would happen more often. Also, it's cute when your smaller frame tries to wrap both arms around his bigger one, he would unconsciously feel flustered but also found it a bit cute. - Bonus: While it might sound a bit rude to him... or not, but I think if his s/o treats him like he's a big, cuddly and fluffy dog he would get super flustered. Like imagine you give him a big, cute grin while petting his big ears or his super poofy fluffy tail, oh the wolf boy would be so "tsun" about it. His s/o is the only one who can touch his tail or brush it! It's also a way to show affection towards a big wolf like him too, so don't hold back 💖

Was thinking about Fabian and Riz a lot. I love them they make me sick. Thought I'd share cause I'm not finishing any fics ever lmao.

Side note; in the beautiful kingdom of my mind both of these guys are aromantic (though Fabian is super romance positive) and these interactions are (queer)platonic to me. But hey read it however you want.

I want half asleep Fabian at a sleepover with The Ball, listening to him rant about his newest case, or schoolwork, or whatever he's working himself up about this time. But it's like three am and Riz is so visibly exhausted (and Fabian wants to sleep too! Usually he has a strict schedule, smh) because he's slept a combined five hours in the last three days he goes "You're gonna do great/figure it out, I believe in you. Now shut the fuck up and go to sleep." And it's like. Not even a conscious thing he just instinctively gives The Ball a bardic. Riz feels it. Pauses. Blinks. Smiles. "That's not gonna last until tomorrow." In the SOFTEST voice do you understand. "Then I'll just give you a new one when you need it." And he says it in this tone that makes Riz feel like throwing up (positive) because it sound as if it were obvious — and it is. There's something deeply comforting about the absolute confidence that half-asleep Fabian has in the fact that yeah, tomorrow and the day after that and for however long it takes they will still be friends. And close. And Fabian will still believe in him.

And then Riz lets himself be dragged into bed (they share because if you both have sleep related trauma and the worst abandonment issues ever then you have to cuddle with the homies for comfort.)

I want Fabian and Riz very very non sexually sharing a shower. Maybe they just got back from an adventuring assignment, and Riz is caked in dirt and maybe a little bit of dried blood, and Fabian uses the opportunity for what it is. "Can I do your hair again? I'll wash it." "Sure." (I think it's curly and he doesn't really. Treat it like you're supposed to. Fabian is the only reason it's kinda gotten better. Riz doesn't care that much but he like, indulges him. Cause for some reason Fabian seems to think it's a big deal.) (and it IS. Hair care IS a big deal to Fabian. Separate post I'm insane about him.) And next thing Riz knows he's sitting in his best friend's fancy bathroom and there's expensive smelling product in his hair and he's naked but Fabian isn't being weird about it, he's just scrubbing dirt off of his back because he totally lied when he said it's just about the hair. The Ball doesn't super take care of himself so Fabian jumps at any opportunity to get in there. And it's. Nice. Acts of service are a whole thing. I think for Fabian that's the love language that feels the most foreign, I think it's been so hard for him to unlearn selfishness and bluster even partially, I think he tries. I think he does this thing for his best friend because he loves him, and he expects nothing in return — not even praise. Not even praise even though that's the one thing he's always angling for. And they're both so quiet. And the water is warm.

I want Fabian waking up after a party with the worst hangover. Skull splitting open I want to die type hangover. I want him to wonder, idly, if his mother is going to come and drag him out to train anyway. It'd be dreadful, and yet he desperately wishes she would, because that'd mean she's invested in his training and would have to make an active effort to spend time with him rather than the other way around. I want him to be a little disappointed because he knows it won't happen. I want his heart to ache. But then "Oh, are you awake?" and his best friend is sitting at the end of his bed. Watching him with concern, lowering his voice because he figures Fabian is sensitive right now, having closed the curtains and stuff for the same reason, already offering him water and pain killers. All that. Just because.

"Why are you still here, The Ball?" "Why wouldn't I be? I promised to stay." Because last night Fabian, after being dragged to bed by a concerned Riz and halfway through a mental breakdown (because hey. Turns out he shouldn't have smoked whatever Durden was offering after already being so fucking drunk his body is not having a good time) begged his friend not to leave. So he didn't. In fact Riz stayed with him in bed for hours, holding him because he seemed like he'd need it, but he got antsy some time in the morning and had to get up. And he's sorry for that! But he didn't leave. "Not leaving" is kind of a vague promise he wasn't sure of the exact ramifications but like he stayed in the room until he had to piss- woah Fabian why do you look like you're about to cry did I say something wrong.

Like that. I want that. I want them to love each other so much. Something about non-sexual physical intimacy always gets me. Okay. Oh to have the kind of love that's familiar and comfortable and doesn't come with any expectations. Oh to have a friendship that doesn't have to be "more" because it's already everything. Who decided romance is "more" anyway. Throwing up. I am so ill about them.

I know many Bucky fans are mad, but I never expected him to have a lot of screen time in Thunderbolts* to begin with. Especially with such a huge team (and they need to be*come* likeable and relatable to the audience).

Thunderbolts* is NOT a solo movie, it's a team movie (Suicide Squad style).

He should've gotten a Winter Soldier film ages ago (getting some of memories back in Romania so we see many flashbacks), but in Thunderbolts*, he doesn't need to have 2h of screen time to be a key character.

And this is what I care about the most... Quality > quantity

In his MCU journey, we always found him in different stages (and this is what made it fun and exciting for Sebastian too) & I love the fact we get to put two and two together and try to understand hints rather than straight up being told everything about his life.

He is one of the most interesting characters & he carried the Cap triology (and Marvel knows it). He got less than 15 minutes of screen time & 13 lines in CATWS (a movie with his name in the title) & still stole the show... he always steals the show, he's "the underdog".

He's super popular & so is Sebastian. They don't bother to use him more because they know people (come to the cinema to) watch anything if he is in it.

They saw that with "Dumb Money".

So they might even give us Bucky in small doses intentionally.

Sebastian got more projects left, which = a safe paycheck he can use for other projects.

(This is why I disagree when people say he should leave Marvel as if:

1. He doesn't have a strict contract with more projects left & he wouldn't need to pay;

2. He doesn't need the money - to pay his employees, to produce & play in other films)

3. He doesn't find it comforting to play Bucky every 3 years...

He loves Bucky (and he is similar to Bucky) & he always gets to explore different sides of the character when he returns, which is amazing for an actor.

Also, Kevin said Bucky is the de facto leader, after all. And that doesn't mean his role isn't important (CATWS & CACW are good examples), quite the opposite.

(I think he might have a subplot & save the team at the end)

We all got ??? when we thought he's in the team because he is already pardoned. He proved he is "stable" in TFATWS.

It makes sense to me if he has his own thing.

The fact the team has to "earn the trust" aka go into a suicide mission bc they are seen as disposable is sick.

(Bucky is seen like this, too)

There is no good or bad side & Bucky sees right through this. He always did.

I'm glad Yelena is finally a lead, though & I wonder how she'll use the opportunity to take revenge on Valentina.

Also, I think she'll lose her dad (sacrifice maybe), and that will be an amazing scene.

I really hope Bucky & Yelena have at least one scene (maybe he is sent to lead them in the middle of the film or he just shows up to save the team at the end). They are similar, yet different, so a great, great duo.

Florence and Sebastian are 🙌🏻 (incredible actors... they portray the characters with so much passion. They know them so well) and I can sense a lottt of chemistry.

My point is: things always change, you never know with MCU & so let's wait and hope it's a good film⚡️

The Basics:

Now that she's married to Alaric, the Night Emperor, Talasyn wants to keep it purely political--especially since she's secretly a part of a plot to overthrow him. Unfortunately, their attraction to each other has already caused problems. Now more than ever, they need to remain strict and remote, with the Moonless Dark, a catastrophic, potentially apocalyptic event approaching. But the encroaching doom could make their feelings even more apparent, even as outside forces pit them against each other.

The Review:

This was the best thing the second book in a trilogy can be: better than the first (and the first was already good). Though I enjoyed The Hurricane Wars, it did at points feel very much like a set up, both in terms of the fantasy plot and Alaric and Talasyn's relationship. In a lot of ways, you get payoff on both aspects in this installment... while at the same time leaving some tantalizing threads hanging.

Well, like. A lot of tantalizing threads. Remember--this is a trilogy. We're going to have to wait for that ending!

Really, the last book ended just as Alaric and Talasyn's relationship was beginning. Here, we find them in the midst of this alliance marriage that isn't supposed to be even vaguely real. Yet they've already--well--gotten each other off. And that should be it! No repeat performances! No feelings!

What I loved about this is that both Alaric and Talasyn are incredibly powerful beings, skilled fighters, and even growing politicians. But when it comes to their emotions--and their sexual experience on both sides--they're really just a couple of babes in the woods. It gives a delicious vulnerability and awkwardness to their interactions. I mean, of course Alaric has mommy issues (and so does Talasyn, for that matter). Of course Talasyn has the ability to beat his ass in a fight while at the same time lacking the social experience to know how to flirt. They're basically a couple of gawky, traumatized losers together. Especially Alaric. And I love that!

Y'all, he's so obsessed with this girl. And sometimes it comes out in a "I want to write her name over and over in my notebook" kind of way, and sometimes it comes out in a "MINE MINE MINE OM NOM NOM" kind of way. Both ways are good.

I'll admit, sometimes the political stuff can still be A Lot for me, but I found it a lot easier to follow this time around. Additionally, the focus on the Moonless Dark itself really allowed me to sort of... zero in on this cataclysmic moment. It's a great way to amp up the pacing and push us towards as climax.

Speaking of climaxes...

The Sex:

WELL DAMN. There was very little sex in the last book, and I suspected that would change this time around. I don't think I suspected it would change this much. We have the build up with "I'm so aroused against my own will" shenanigans. We have actual consummation, and like... a lot of stuff after that.

Alaric is pretty dirty, y'all! I was proud of him! I had to reread one of those lines to be like "Well fuck, he sure did perk up." There's some good shit here. And it really does serve the relationship. You have a really fantastic progression of physical intimacy aligning with the increasing emotional intimacy.

Another thing I so appreciated--the sex isn't like, constant smooth sailing. There's some awkward stuff in the beginning, befitting a couple of virgins figuring it out. Hell yeah.

Anyway--I really enjoyed this, and I'm super excited to see what happens next. It ends on quite the Moment.

Oh btw. I know I already said this but it was in a more rambling way than a coherent thought process so! About Jude

She's still an orphan but instead of having grown up in an orphanage, they grew up with the International Police

^ the reason for this was bc he was found after a failed attempt of catching their father, who was wanted for his association with various underground criminal organizations. Jude was practically left for dead by her father, but was picked up by IP.

Because they were an aura user much like their father, Jude was practically raised as a potential weapon. Sadly, I still haven't figured out the specifics, but I get the vibe that growing up with IP was very strict.

Because of this strict lifestyle, Jude enjoys the fact that they are "special". He knows that aura users are a rarity- her father said as such- and because they're so rare with such a specific power, they are valuable. Too valuable to get rid of. Jude knows that IP won't do anything drastic with them no matter how many times they disobey rules because he knows they don't want to lose a valuable resource. And that makes them feel powerful. Enough to make the fact that they're trapped in a cage more bearable.

Jude is still rather mean- both due to what their father taught them and due to how powerless IP makes them. Eat or be eaten. Take what little control and power you have for yourself.

The reason they are even in Kalos at all is bc Diantha privately contacted IP to investigate Team Flare....but IP didn't exactly see them as an immediate threat, not yet anyway. Though given the track record of recent years, they decided to still send in someone who could sniff out what's happening. Not Looker, though he is definitely back up- but rather Jude. Being able to read Auras is a boon here...though. Um.

Jude is not that great of an aura user. Their father thought them the bare basics and IP never had skilled aura users to train her. So while aura reading and sensing can be done, it's not. Great. Still good enough to go on missions though ( that plus Jude has pretty good detective skills on his own...though that may just be the general lack of trust LMAO)

Anyway, Jude needs a cover, so they'll be posing as Grace's adopted kid,who's moving with her to Kalos, Grace's home region.

Speaking of Grace: this is where things get tricky cause you can't tell me that Grace suddenly having a teenager child isn't going to raise suspicion. And honestly, I'm still very much working through that part. But I've thought of an interesting idea. It doesn't smooth things over exactly, but it's still pretty good I think. Grace has ties with the international police. She was never a part of it lol, but I was thinking a family member used to be part of it or something? I know she has a husband in canon but honestly, I love my always single flirty Grace so unless I'm reallllly struggling I could go with the dead husband who was an IP agent route lol. But for now it's a family member!

Grace was contacted bc they needed a smooth way to get Jude into Kalos. Grace, who has never taken care of a human child ( her Ryhorn is her baby lol) be like bro, wtf, I just retired and wanted to move back home. Why????? Are you doing this??????" Not that she had much choice in the matter lmao.

Hmmmm. Okay just musing on the timeline of events here: maybe I can have the first few sightings of Team Flare be at least a few years prior XY? And given the recent track history over the years Diantha is like "I! Should probably look into that". Again, she isn't fully convinced it's anything but better safe than sorry ( she heard horror stories from Cynthia). So Jude was assigned to Grace like. A few years prior to XY? And thus not making the whole thing super suspicious? Hmmm. I dunno. I'll work something out. IP is probably good at forging documents anyway.

This makes the dynamic between Jude and Dante a bit different? Bc Jude is just here for a job and Dante is over here crashing out bc his ego is actively getting crushed. Tbf though, Jude is outside of the watchful eye of IP for once. Sure, they're playing a role, but this role is arguably the most freedom they've had in a loooong time. So. I think Jude might still be a bitch. Might indulge in the rivalry bc not only do they get to feel strong but have someone actually push them to do so ( Dante, despite losing a lot, is genuinely someone who keeps Jude on their toes).

I think pokemon is a special case for Jude. The only way for mega evolution to work ( without maximum drawbacks) is with a proper bond. You would think, with Jude wanting to feel power and control due to it being taken away from him throughout his life that he would be cruel to her pokemon. But I don't think they are. It's most definitely projection, but maybe Jude feels like they're a kindred spirit with pokemon. Eat or be eaten. Caged, made as tools ( again. Projecting. This is Not how things are in reality!!!) So I think, while still cold.... they're rather soft with pokemon. He pushed them bc he believes that can be something greater. But I think she does end up recognizing that the way they were trained doesn't have to be the way he trains his pokemon. If that makes sense.

I really think it ends up surprising him how much their pokemon ends up loving them. Faults and all.

Raaaah I wanna say more but I'm running out of steam. I will say! This version of Jude, I feel, could have genuinely become a villain if they went a different path. Like they never went to Kalos and was kept under the oppressive watch of IP. At some point, they would snap. At some point, they would want a lot of power for themself. And they would be cruel and unyielding. I couldn't really say that for old Jude. They were mean, yeah I couldn't see a potential where they could have ended up being a straight up villain. I think I can say that for this Jude though. Thankfully they got blasted with the power of friendship and good parental figures ( Grace. Sycamore is on thin fucking ice. Diantha is more like an aunt that pops in now and again)

Also also all of this is still a work in progress!!!! Jude still feels a bit wonky despite me liking this direction for her. Especially since he now feels more detached to the main plot than anything but. Who knows mainly that'll change.

WIP Wednesday - Timeline Thoughts

So, taking a break from designs to talk about the timelines of the fic and canon. As I've mentioned, I'm going to be doing my rewrite over the three years of UA, but this isn't so much because I hate the idea of the current timeline. More so because it just suits my needs better. I generally think the timeline isn't so much an issue of it all being in just over a year, but that Horikoshi's writing style. Which isn't me being mean, all writing styles have strengths and weaknesses. And one of Horikoshi's weaknesses seems to managing the time and pacing. So let's dig into my timeline vs canon's timeline in year one.

To start off, like I said, I don't think the canon timeline is that awful. I've worked it out very roughly here for you. Black is canon events, red is thinks most schools do and likely happened, but we don't get much in the way of explicit confirmation of. This is very rough, and a lot of it is guestimates based on when Japanese high schools usually do these sort of things, and context clues. For example, uniforms change like clockwork in Japan, 1st of June and 1st of October, so you can place things before or after those dates based on their uniforms most of the time. This also mostly only covers the things the school is involved in.

As you can see, there are entire months with nothing really going on with 1-A. There is actually a lot of breathing room, but Horikoshi's style moves quickly through down time and onto bigger action pieces making it feel more rushed, which then also makes the Final War Arc totally slowing down to cover a matter of hours feel oddly paced.

So how does my very rough (still in progress, feel free to give feedback if that's your think, I love to talk) timeline for the first year look? More like this.

As you can see, I've eased up a little and spread out the timeline a bit to allow for more academia. Starting from the start, dorms straight away. Not super strict dorms, but dorms. I want them all in each other's space and bonding. Golden Week: it's an important national holiday, and it's semi-common for there to be some kind of training camp there, so I want to use that in year 2 for Kamino. For year 1, I might use it for the battle trials, or just a general training camp. The battle trials themselves would be a later class than canon, partly because All Might please, and partly because I want the tension ratcheting between Bakugou and Midoriya in a more similar way to the Ground Beta fight. I want it to build to it and be painfully tense when the trigger is finally pulled.

Moving into summer. Sports Festivals are usually held late May to early June, so this is a minor timeline change. I only put it in May in the official timeline because they come back off internships in winter uniforms. I want to tone down the ridiculous popularity of the sports festival. Lbr the "more popular than the Olympics" was kinda ridiculous, and I want UA to have some sense. Maybe for third years, it's broadcast and a big deal, but for first years, it's in person viewing only.

Finals, will be different. I'm still humming and hawing over the exact nature of the finals, but with them not having faced actual villains yet, we cant save vs the teachers for later. I was thinking maybe I would move the Joint Training Arc here as finals instead, but that's still a maybe. Summer camp is just a summer camp. It's very normal for Japanese schools to take their kids on a camping/training for club trip at the start of summer break.

Internships. I wanted to extend the internships to give them more time with their heroes and to let it settle a bit, but without taking too much from school, and summer is a great time. This also makes the internships voluntary, so you can really see who's taking this seriously or not. This is still where Hosu happens, but while Stain is still around, it's loosely Dabi who's the antagonist of this encounter for Midoriya, Iida and Shouto, because I want to extend Stain's stay in the story, and because I want them to lose and for Dabi to get away.

(Sidebar: Bakugou is still going with Jeanist for internships. Lots of people talk about Bakugou interning with Miruko being better for him so why didn't he? And so they "correct" that. But, even if we assume Miruko wanted Bakugou, all signs point to her not wanting an intern, it's Bakugou's character flaws that mean he never would. He put rank above all other considerations, because that's who he is at the time. And Jeanist is actually a good place for him to learn what he needs, once they stop being prickly at each other. Bakugou is already at passable sidekick level in combat, he needs to work on his image and people skills, we all know this, even Bakugou to an extent. Miruko would be more fun and "suit him" better, but she wouldn't teach him what he needs.)

Licencing exam. This is an early exam, recommendation by a hero only. The majority of the class won't be taking it. And this is here as a smack down for Bakugou and Shouto. Obviously, Endeavor shoves Shouto for it, and Shouto while he hates his dad is confident in his abilities. And Jeanist outright tells Bakugou that he knows Bakugou will fail the exam, but that he'll recommend him for it anyway. Obviously, they both fail, yay remedial course that I will actually cover. I'm still not 100% sure, but I think I might also throw Tsuyu into this. She had a good internship with a good hero who liked her, and she is a solid hero in training. It would be good to see her as the only one with a licence for a while.

USJ. I think if the first term is mostly basics like control your quirk, learn basic combat training and environmental awareness, term 2 is rescue training. You can control your quirk, you can fight off a basic bad guy, now lets rescue some civilians. Obviously, they've done some before that, but here it becomes more focused. And so the USJ. And LoV, mad because Stain stole all the credit for their Nomu attack, decided to make a statement by invading UA and killing All Might.

School festival: something cute and dumb and fluffy.

Finals: I might move 1-A vs Mirio or the Big Three here. Again, I want to save the vs teachers stuff. This is also where Bakugou and Shouto have their make up exam for their licences. I want to keep Bakugou and Shouto "ahead" of Midoriya to an extent. Midoriya very quickly stopped being any kind of underdog, while the plot still kind of tried to pretend like he was, so I want to try and keep Midoriya chasing Bakugou and Shouto (and Momo but her internship kinda sucked, sorry girl).

The run through the last term would be pretty quiet, but with Bakugou and Shouto having their licenses, and maybe Tsuyu, and everyone else preparing for the general admittance exam in March right before school ends. Maybe some strict, silly UA rule about if you can't pass your exam at the end of the first year, you're expelled, nodding back to Aizawa's expulsion happy teaching style as just more of a UA style.

February is also the entrance exam for new students. I sort of have mild plans to change the entrance exam, not too much because I mostly want to work with Horikoshi's blocks not totally change them, but I think the idea of current first years being fake applicants pretending to be useless and getting into trouble in the exam so applicants have people to save who aren't as obvious as a mannequin or fake civilians, but also so there are people who know what they're doing if something does go wrong. For example, having someone like Nejire in Midoriya's entrance exam, who would spend most of her time pretending she's scared of the robots and needs help, but who have stepped in to save Ochako or grabbing Midoriya out of the air if no one else was going to.

April 2025 Fandoms

A week late but whatever, not many new things to add as usual.

Movies: I took to just putting any random thing on to watch while I folded laundry (cause I'm the ONLY ONE who does it around here🙄)

Tuck Everlasting - This movie was way more boring than I remember it being, but still cute enough.

Terminator 2 - This movie was way longer than I remember it being (and I wasn't even watching the extended cut). Still an S tier movie though.

Million Dollar Baby - The ending to this one is still just as bummer as I remember... Like why did it have to end like that?

Punchline - I'm not well-versed in standup comedy but... not a single act in this entire movie was funny. Like, at all. No way Tom Hanks' character won second place in the end, all he did was shout angrily into the mic, and usually Tom Hanks shouting is funny but he even managed to make that very UNfunny here. Also, his character was awful, dude straight up threatened suicide if Sally Field's character didn't leave her husband to go out with him. Glad she and her husband had a happy ending. Anyway the movie was enjoyable enough, just wish the standup bits had actually been funny.

TV Shows: Ninjago Dragons Rising season 3 part 1 - Not sure where I'd rank this one yet, but probably below season 2 part 2. Best parts for me were, surprisingly, all the scenes with Arin and Ras, they're just the most interesting duo.

Anime:

Dr. Stone season 4 part 1 (finished)

Honey Lemon Soda - Lmaooo it was stupid all the way to the very end but oh it was so, so entertainingly so.

Lazarus - Watched the first two episodes annnnd I don't know if I'll continue, it's kind of mid. Watanabe hasn't really cooked again since Cowboy Bebop imo. Even Samurai Champloo was mostly weird.

Anne Shirley - Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Gosh this show is such a breath of fresh air! This just proves that classics have persisted throughout the decades for a reason, I'm so in love with this simple story about a super dramatic and imaginative red-haired girl! Bless Japan for adapting the story exactly the way it should be, yall know if the West were doing a modern adaptation of it today (wouldn't be surprised if they already had) they would've forced in a whole bunch of themes and politics that wouldn't have made any sense in the time period this is set in. Anne is already a character ahead of her time! She's not "not like other girls", she's just uniquely herself!

Wind Breaker season 2 - Oh yeah, I keep forgetting about this. First season was enjoyable enough but I haven't been able to force myself to get through more than an episode and a half of this so far. It's not bad it's just.... SO, SO dang shounen-y. Guys fighting is only fun to watch when I actually like, you know, care about the guys who are fighting, and even after one season I don't even know or remember anything about any of these guys.

Books:

Atonement by Ian McEwan - Finally finished! And the last quarter was actually pretty enjoyable, but dang what the heck was that ending??

Great Characters:

Anne Shirley of course - I forgot just how over-the-top she could be but I freaking love it. I also love Marilla not being this horribly unfair and strict guardian who's always against her, she admits when she's in the wrong and allows her to have fun when she thinks she deserves it, even if she doesn't personally understand her interests.

THE LIVE ACTION!!! siigh, I get distracted by every frame sanji is in, his actor is very pretty and I really like his smile, I already know I'll be rewatching it, maybe tomorrow so i can pick up on more things like little easter eggs, I've already noticed a few awesome ones!

Luffy takes much more time onscreen to reflect, but it's nice to see the connections between the crew members building- I'm waiting for zoro to call sanji "cook" instead of "waiter", I'm convinced it'll happen soon

I think I'm either on 6 or 7 rn, don't want to talk about what's specifically happening rn for those who haven't seen it yet

Also! I am glad they aren't super strict in following the anime storyline step by step by step by steeeppp, the main happenings are still happening. While it would cool to have a live action recreation of the anime, I'm really getting to appreciate the creative liberties they're taking, it makes everything just that but more unexpected which in my ever so humble opinion, is very fun! ☆

I may be a little bit more forgiving towards the use of anachronisms or modern terms (Titans come from Greek mythology and champagne comes from France, neither of these words have a place in a fantasy universe if we're being very strict about it), but I also bristle at how the issue of gender and identity is handled in Veilguard. (I haven't finished the game yet, so these are just my impressions so far.)

I'm happy that we have a queer companion character. I myself am a trans man and so is my Rook. I don't particularly relate to Taash or the way they are portrayed, which on the whole feels rather shallow, but 1. I don't have to relate to every fictional character and in my personal opinion that is a GOOD thing (queer people tend to be upset when a queer character doesn't map 1:1 to their experiences. Guys, we keep asking for diversity! This is why!) 2. every companion character feels rather shallow, imo. I don't recognise my own experiences when I look at Taash but I think that I don't have to, and if their story feels shallow, well that's not unique to them.

But I have a big problem with the language it is couched in. It feels jarring! I would be ecstatic to discuss non-binary genders in a fantasy game, but for the love of god, come up with some terms for it! Aqun-Athlok was a great example, in that at least ONE culture in Thedas already has a word for a similar concept, it's a culture that Taash is connected to, they could have brought that up and iterated on it. They could have had a conversation on how in the Qun, gender is tied to function but in Rivaini society, it isn't. How one could be a warrior and still a woman, and how that doesn't have to have anything to do with one's body. Et cetera, et cetera.

There's a lot of... shoehorning in real world, modern day terms that I consider to be... hmm, I wanna call them ‘social media-speak’ similar to therapy-speak? Maevaris telling Taash that they are ‘valid’, or Taash (and rarely others) repeatedly calling artifacts ‘cultural’. How to tell the audience that you've read someone talking about colonialism on Twitter and just unthinkingly migrated that terminology into your fantasy game, lol. I would have been okay with them calling an item ‘culturally important (to the Dalish)’ or something but it's constantly Cultural™, almost as a noun. (Let's not get started on how they basically managed to make every single faction toothless as hell... The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, The Crows becoming Assassin Daycare, etc.) Feels jarring as hell. ‘Gender’ and ‘gender stuff’ also hurts my ears a little bit, especially with the constant repetition. I can barely have a conversation or hear any banter with Taash without it coming up.

And this leads me to another issue, which is that I think they bring up the topic constantly. Not just with Taash! There's one NPC you run into in the Hossberg Wetlands, who gets addressed as they/them from the first moment onward. I really enjoyed how nobody questioned that, there was just a random non-binary NPC in the game. Except later when I returned to talk to them further, the NPC told my Rook how another character was a super close friend to them, helped them figure out the whole non-binary thing and I was like... buddy we've known each other for 5 minutes. I think they knew that a lot of queer people were super fucking tired of characters being touted as queer representation when it's like... if you look at them and squint and tilt your head you can MAYBE tell they are queer, and they wanted to avoid that and overdid it a little.

In a way this game feels a little bit like Uncle Tom's Cabin, it has that ‘he a little confused but he got the spirit’ energy. In my opinion they have made the entire topic and conversation around gender exactly as annoying, inescapable, jarring and cringe as the average gamer dudebro would fear. Ya know? Like, if you put a trans character into a game who mentions being trans ONE time, those people would complain about the Trans Agenda Being Forced Down Their Throats. With Veilguard? Even I'm getting annoyed.

And I'm annoyed especially because they did a good job with these in Inquisition. They wrote a character whose personal quests revolved around being gay in a big way but 1. they didn't need to use any jarring modern day terminology 2. they managed to write it in a way that was emotionally resonant and made sense for both the world and the character; and they wrote a trans character who also didn't need any Gender Studies 101 terminology to explain who he was.

im definitely not a fan of this man on a personal level for several reasons but guys im starting to think da lost a load bearing wall when he left

O7. manager faruzan [fanboy!scaramouche x drummer!reader] ⎯⎯ heartbeat rhythm series

a/n: each paragraph with the members are a separate intreview. this is a filler chapter fixating on what faruzan is like and what 5O5 thinks about her.

"madam faruzan?"

yun jin, feeling her curiosity peak, repeats back what the person behind the camera said to her. the camera man nods, "yes, what do you think about your manager?" yun jin awkwardly giggles before sighing.

you exclaim at the cameraman, "madam faruzan!? oh, i like her a lot! besides the fact that she's on the eccentric side and tends to follow wherever we go and somehow finds out our private accounts on social media, she's cool! we've known her since high school, so it makes everything much more fun."

yun jin rubs her chin, "she can be privacy invading." the cameraman chuckles, "how so?" yun jin puts a leg over the other and hums. "let me see, how would i explain this..."

yoimiya laughs, "madam faruzan's okay. she's uptight but she always has the best band activities planned out for us! although, she does startle me a lot. this one time i was walking to a cafe and-"

"i literally see her with binoculars, hiding behind a pole!" hu tao frantically gestures, "that girl is on something! not to mention, she's like a super spy. she always knows what we're doing at any given time."

ayaka kindly says, "whenever i'm spending time alone outside, madam always happens to be there. she's looking out for all of us and i appreciate her service."

as you can figure out from what the members have commented about their most lovely manager, faruzan does seem to be a little too interested in the band members' private lives and activites, thus explaining how faruzan found out that you gave scaramouche a private performance. (see chapter five for clear up)

faruzan is strict with the way she works and is frequently seen barking orders at 5O5. across the web and within articles, she wears pencil skirts pairing with a white button up, and her pale teal hair is bunched up into a bun. faruzan is also close friends with the rest of her classmate prodigies that graduated high school early just like her.

those prodigies being alhaitham, tighnari and albedo. they may or may not be featured in this story in the near future...

but faruzan's mean demeanor is a mere exterior for the inner fangirl that proudly lives inside her mind. that's correct, madam manager faruzan is obsessed with the very band she manages.

it started when she was still in high school and her brilliant brain boosted her to her last year as a thirteen-year-old. she stumbled upon your band's practice in the music room when you five weren't doing live performances just yet.

yun jin had asked for her opinion on their performance and faruzan was more than happy to give them her perspective, but she wasn't one to sugarcoat things. during that time, she instantly pointed out all of their flaws and the things they should change to play even better.

yun jin was overjoyed about it; she loves some good constructive criticism. when faruzan graduated that year, she vowed an oath to become their manager and she did, just a year later after applying for a job at Inazuma's TEYVATMUSiC live house.

even though faruzan is the youngest by a year, she leads these six, including yanfei, to a great future in their music career... but she should work more on giving them space rather than following them around 24/7.

i am absolutely obsessed with final girl!!! it is so good and the way you write everybody, including y/n is perfect ! i love how y/n is observant and picks up on a lot of the weird things that stu and billy do and say and then brush it off cause of her upbringing, its a perfect way to have the reader pick up on the clues yet not ruin the plot! (please use this ask to explain and rant away about it because i am obsessed with their dynamic in every way possible!!)

im curious, does the reader being from texas mean anything for the plot and the backstory? if not then i am seriously overthinking it and im going mad 😭😭

Hi!! omg this ask is exactly what i needed!!

Thank you for picking up on how Y/n is observant but then brushes it off!! that's something i'm super intentional about when writing chapters, especially bc i've always felt like fics feel more realistic/immersive when the reader does notice things that can influence plot,, but sometimes it's hard bc i have to think of a way for billy and stu to cover up what they do 😭

but i try! a large reason it works is bc of their dynamic,, that i will always be willing to go into heavy detail about!

Y/n doesn't have a ton of experience with close guy friendships. It's partly bc of her mom being relatively "strict" in that area and that area alone, and it's partially bc of where she grew up. Lots of lifelong friendships in a small, southern town before the move,, which i'll be exploring a little more really soon in the series!!

but anyways, the point i'm getting at is that in those towns, any guys you're friends with barely feel like boys bc you've grown up with them. They're basically your brothers. So Y/n's a little...i don't like using the word naive bc it's not exactly that...i see her as trusting and inexperienced.

She's aware just enough to be like hm...this feels a little weird, but once billy or stu offer any kind of explanation or breeze past it casually enough she just assumes that it can't be too bad. A tiny bit of it is a gender assumption thing...like oh, it's a guy thing to be a little cagey and play around with girls that are just friends like that bc they're a little flirty.

But that's just a fraction of why she dismisses things, it's a baseline thinking that she chooses to lean into subconsciously bc billy and stu wanted her to feel borderline dependent on them,, and honestly, they've done a good job so far.

ik we don't have a tonnn of canon details on the og friend group when things were nice and normal before billy and stu went on their little stab spree,, but i definitely picture them as being that group,, you know the ones where they're super solid but still feel comfortable hanging out in different combinations of pairing. I feel like they're also the kind of friend group where people that go to the same school/are in the same age range see hanging out in public and a tiny part of them wishes they were apart of it bc once you're "in" you're "in" and even if you're kind of a sideline piece in the friend group, it'd still be great.

(Opening of part 8 is actually a friend group bonding thing to explore this a little more!!)

Anyways, all this is to say that Y/n's still feels like she's circling around "in",, so at first, she lets things slide bc she likes all of them and the friend group is the only thing making the move bearable. And if you're referencing all the advances they get away with--especially Stu--it's bc it's also done in front of the entire group, and if it's not a big deal to everyone (especially their girlfriends), why should she make it a big deal? Plus, when Stu goes out of his way to do it,, it's kind of like announcing that y/n's "in".

Then, after some time has passed, they started getting away with more and more until they got to the point that we see them in in the actual fic. The end goal was always to have y/n look like the group's friend (to keep from suspicion) but be closest to them,, and they're not smart for nothing, it's definitely working.

Now the reason they get away with so much isn't so much y/n being scared of losing out on the group, but scared of losing them. Even though y/n definitely sees everything that's happened between them as platonic, they're her boys now. Things are easy to dismiss because she feels like she knows them. Sure, there might be the odd comment or reaction, but it's nothing worth looking too closely at. Not when she's comfortable, and they've been consistent enough that even the new questionable things can fall under the umbrella of 'oh they're just like that'.

They're also tactful about the behavior they make obvious and planting seeds that explain it, especially billy. I see billy as being a little more in touch/at least aware of how other people that are wired without the murder mindset feel. Like he knows that bouts of possessiveness/jealousy that aren't justifiable make him look bad and might even make him off putting.

I think this awareness comes from how close I picture his mom and him being. I've always felt like there was probably some unhealthy co-dependency between billy and his mom, which factors into how he views attachment and gave him some more awareness on other people's feelings. It's not a perfect view, but at least something he factors in. Definitely feel like the thought of being left makes billy panic, so that's why he at least tries to think things through. If he acts normal in front of y/n and thinks about how things would make him seem, she won't leave.

That's part of the reason billy goes out of his way to plant explanations for behaviors that aren't under control. He tells stu to mention his family when he apologizes and he'll mention his own dad when he wants sympathy points. He knows how to tug on y/n's heartstrings/empathy.

Stu's tactic is the opposite of being subtle. He gets away with things because he's him. I think he definitely hides darker/more serious toxicity under a layer of open toxicity that feels lighthearted. Like he's easily 'set off' but his moodiness doesn't off put y/n bc it's played off as being almost meanly oversensitive. It'd annoy y/n a lot more from anyone else bc when stu's good, he's great, and he's always been open about it.

And as far as y/n being from texas there are some reasons!! it comes up a little in part 8 for the first time! no spoilers, but part of the reason is bc i pictured Gloria, y/n's mom, as one of those southern-y, larger than life moms. There was also a scene that I took out of part 6 that I'm going to use later (probably in chapter 8, but might reserve it) about y/n and her ability to shoot. Texas has pretty lax gun culture, so there's a scene where y/n shows that she's a good shot bc her mom's been taking her to a shooting range for years. It's a way for her defend herself from ghostface!!

I also wanted y/n's hometown to be far away for a couple reasons. More of a start over feel, if she ever tries to go back it could cause some tension bc of distance, explains why she doesn't have anyone else around, etc

Thoughts on Episode 6: No Heartbreak Yet!

I think Episode 6 might be my new most favorite episode! Episode 1 is still perfect, but episode 6 has just so many things that warm my heart and among them is Esmeralda and Serafina's friendship!

I've been forgetting to note this in my reviews, but note that all these thoughts are full of spoilers for the episode in question! And also spoilers for the involved quest.

In this case, spoilers ahead for Episode 6: Emerald and the Lucky Clover quest in the game of Legend of Mana!

I am super glad they decided to make it so that it was Serafina who became friends with Esmeralda and not Shiloh. And it makes good narrative sense too, since Shiloh is already looking out for Elazul and Pearl.

Okay, getting ahead of myself, I'll talk over the episode from the beginning. Here we get a cute sequence of Serafina's ordinary life, much like Shiloh's in the first episode. I have to say though…I did sigh a little seeing the bit of fanservice with them keeping Serafina on screen as she's about to change. It's not anything too bad, but I find it noticeable because if you compare it to Shiloh's home life sequence, they just show frames of him putting on his clothes, whereas for Serafina, they just had to show her taking off her shirt. It's just a tad distasteful for me seeing that female characters have to be eye candy when male characters aren't as subjected to it.

Anyway. Rant over, thankfully this sequence was short, and we see Serafina eating breakfast and reading a book too. Super cute, and then Esmeralda calls to her from outside, since they still have to help arrange the books at the library, and off they go.

It's a really cozy, ordinary life scene and they do it while smoothly explaining how Serafina in in Geo and why she's friends with Esmeralda - Serafina moved to Geo two months prior, to study magic it would seem, since she's also taking classes. Esmeralda helped her settle in and they've been friends since then. It's cute and sweet, and I'm glad you can tell what good friends they are.

And it also makes a bit more sense than Shiloh calling Elazul and Pearl friends after spending one day with them lol.

They also show Kathinja in this episode teaching magic class! And they even showed the classic illustrations of the Mana spirits on her board, how neat. Kathinja is on screen for only a short while, but you can really tell she's a great teacher, explaining things, encouraging her students to practice and being strict with Esmeralda when her frustration got the best of her. Makes sense now why the game notes she's the most popular teacher. Oh, and it is also cool they made the students actually look different from each other, since they're all just palette swaps of each other in the game, which unintentionally made them creepy, lol. A bunch of same-faced kids in the same uniforms running amok in Geo, heh.

Moving onto the use of magic, the way they visualized it here was fantastic! Similar to how it is explained in game, to use magic one has to call on magic in the air and then ask for the spirit's help to perform the feat you want (in the game, it's more of you have to channel the mana energy in the air of Fa'Diel, but it's pretty close). The way Salamander was drawn in this episode really resembles the illustrations for the spirits I saw in my Mana art book, which is awesome. I love it when they take time to note details like that.

Anyway, as expected Serafina is good at magic and makes friends with Salamander, but Esmeralda has trouble doing so and is scolded by Kathinja. She is upset about it even after class, and Serafina cheers her up by bringing her to a place where they can eat together…

…where we run into a familiar red-capped guy also asking information about Jumi! Shiloh and Serafina meet in the inn of Geo, by the way, the one run by a Teapo. Serafina recognizes Shiloh and asks for his health - which is great since the last she saw of him he had been beaten to a pulp lol. In return, Shiloh tells her he's fine and thanks her for her care, which I just adore. They've become pretty close!

And this is how Esmeralda meets Pearl and Elazul, too - since Shiloh came to to Geo with them. Elazul recognizes Esmeralda being a Jumi and the three of them are happy to find that out. Esmeralda tells Pearl and Elazul about what happened during the Jumi hunts, where she lost her sisters. This also explains a bit more about Jumi history, one that Elazul and Pearl aren't aware of. Which is pretty good, since it shows in an indirect way that Elazul is among the younger Jumi, born in a later generation, and Pearl…has her own special circumstances.

In the game, they never really explained how three of the Lucky Clover sisters died, only that their cores are left. In this episode, we get to see it in all its painful detail. Esmeralda and her sisters fled the Bejeweled City because of people who were hunting Jumi for their cores - and here, it's explicitly shown to be Deathbringer's army doing the hunting.

One of Esmeralda's sisters sacrifices herself first, and then the other two do so when more soldiers appear. The Twintails sister of the Lucky Clover quartet even takes a sword through her chest, sheesh. Even though they have fairly short scenes, you can tell a lot of personality and strength from these sisters - it's heartbreaking to see just how they lost their lives.

There is a bit of dissonance between the events of the anime and the game - in the game, it seems to be that in the time before the Bejeweled City had to be abandoned, while Rubens and Diana were waiting for Blackpearl to come back with the Mana Stone or Sword of Mana, Esmeralda herself came to Rubens to say she was going to train in Geo to learn magic. Though, it's still possible she did see her sisters die in the game. What is certain is she knew her sisters are dead by the time the Lucky Clover rolls around and she intended to regain their cores.

In the anime, Esmeralda was also about to be killed by the soldiers when Nunuzac sent her pursuers to the freaking shadow realm lol. So we get to see that Nunuzac did directly save Esmeralda's life, in the game it sounds more like Nunuzac took Esmeralda in and sheltered her until the present time. Either way, Esmeralda came to Geo and is stuck there until she learns enough magic to be able to defend herself, which frustrates her to no end. Poor Esmeralda frets too much over becoming a master immediately so she can find her sisters, but precisely because she's so anxious when performing magic, she's unable to master magic skills, so she's stuck in that loop.

Being the sweethearts they are, Shiloh and Serafina offer to help Esmeralda reason with Nunuzac and let her find her sisters. Unlike in the game, Nunuzac refuses Shiloh and Serafina's offers to be a knight and forbids Esmeralda from leaving Geo until she learns to be knight.

They cut out Nunuzac's comment about Elazul offering to be a knight to be like two-timing lol.

Of course, Esmeralda gets depressed because of Nunuzac's refusal, but being the spirited gal she is, she instead plans to sneak out of Geo with Serafina and the others. Which sounds great and all…but Nunuzac keeps warping her back to his side. Which actually does happen in the game in the beginning of the Lucky Clover quest, come to think of it!

Esmeralda keeps trying anyway, and Nunuzac keeps zapping her back. Poor Shiloh, Pearl and Elazul must have been so confused. Eventually, Serafina comes up with a pretty good plan - she swaps clothes with Esmeralda and covers their heads with cloaks, so Nunuzac ends up warping her and not Esmeralda. Serafina then uses the chance to plead Esmeralda's case again, and she explains that Esmeralda couldn't study magic in peace seeing that she's still too worried about finding her sisters. It goes to show, Serafina really does understand Esmeralda well and I just love their friendship to bits.

Nunuzac is finally convinced and lets them go, and so…

I'm super over the moon that my suspicion was right - Esmeralda ended up joining the main character cast! I was hoping so hard for it because that's what the ending of the opening hints at. I was a bit worried it was red herring since I was hoping Rubens also gets some justice but got offed in his episode. But I'm glad that's not the case for Esmeralda, and we get to see more of her! The Lucky Clover was such a gut punch for killing Esmeralda at the end of it, so I'm glad that's not what happened here!

…yet. I'm nervous as to what happens when Shiloh and Co. help her find her three sisters…but in the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the fact that we now have Shiloh, Elazul, Pearl, Serafina and Esmeralda together and being good friends!

I wonder what next episode will be, though? Will they write an entirely new scenario for the Lucky Clover, or will they weave Esmeralda into the story of the next quests? I think it's going to be Two Pearls after the Lucky Clover. I'll be waiting as to what happens next - excited to see everyone's adventures continue!

November TC Challenge

1. If your TC were the same age as you and studied in your class instead of teaching it, would you still have a crush on them?

I honestly cannot imagine what he would be like at my age, but from what little he has described to us before, probably not?

2. What overused romance trope would you use to describe you and your TC?

I feel like catharsis counts, although it’s not overused and neither of us dies. Him leaving a year earlier than we would have parted feels like a tragic ending that has to happen and is supposed to heal me in some way, but in reality I’ll probably just be heartbroken *tears*.

3. POV: it's your TC’s birthday. what are you giving them as a gift?

His next birthday is too close to when he leaves so I’m saving the gift as a 'parting gift'. Hypothetically, probably something related to one of the poets/books/movies he mentioned to us before.

4. Did you become a teacher's pet to get close to them?

You bet lmao, and I have to say it hasn’t been easy. T is good at not showing favouritism, and to this day I still cannot be sure I am his teacher’s pet, but I’m getting there ;)

5. What's the most embarrassing thing you've done in front of your TC?

I once wanted to put a small gift on his desk but kind of got caught? It’s been two years and I still want to stop existing every time I think about it aslkdjsakdjal.

Yes! He took us on a school trip abroad once, and that was when I realised he was my next TC. I still miss it after two years ;-;

7. What are they like as a teacher? Are they strict, laid-back, passionate, etc.?

I feel like he appears strict but he’s actually quite laid-back, especially as we are much older, and his passion definitely shines through when he teaches 🥰

8. Do you find it difficult to hide your crush on your TC? Have you ever done anything around them that made it obvious?

Oh boy I am so bad at hiding it, I'm low-key surprised he hasn't done anything about it yet. He would sometimes catch me staring at him, I've given him all sorts of gifts, I would occasionally have the courage to compliment him, and I always find excuses to be around him.

9. What do you think is the first thing that goes through their head when hearing your name?

Haha yeah about that- his wife basically has the same name as me, so if he heard my nickname he would definitely think of her.

10. If your TC saw you crying, how do you think they would react?

For some reason I really can't imagine it. I do feel that he would be very gentle and caring, ask me what's wrong, and reassure me. A part of me wants to find out before he leaves.

11. Do you prefer their looks or personality? Which made you fall for them first?

It's extremely hard to tell for someone that good looking, but I'm pretty sure I did fall for his personality first. To me, he is like the combination of the perfect looks and the perfect personality.

12. Have you ever been jealous because your TC spent time with another student?

ALL THE TIME lmao, especially with his homeroom class because we're the same year group. A lot of them are in both his homeroom and English class so they get to spend so much time with him, it really kills me.

13. Can you picture yourself staying in contact with them after graduation? If you are graduated, is this the case?

He’s going to leave this year - before I graduate - but I really wish that we could at least maintain email contact because I just cannot imagine losing him. Whereas we never email even now so I don't envisage this being very realistic, especially as I am contemplating confessing to him before he's gone.

14. Do you have a favourite outfit that your TC wears?

Ahh this is so hard to choose! I love him in plain-coloured outfits, like white/blue/pink shirts and blue/black ties and blue/black/grey suit jackets. The black jumper he wears in the winter is also super hot. He looks great in our school's dark blue hoodie as well...

15. Has having a crush on them had an impact on your grades?

I work so hard in English to try and make him proud, to make him see me. I have been among the top of his class both this year and last, and I'm always obsessively striving for even higher marks - which, to be honest, has caused havoc on my mental health, but hey how.

16. What do you have in common with your TC? Are your personalities similar, or are you polar opposites?

We're quite different in the sense that he loves sports and English and reading and all that but hates STEM, and I'm certainly more of a natural+human sciences kind of person. I am really happy that our values seem to align very well, at least from what he's told us.

17. Do you think you're their favourite student?

Haha I definitely would say I'm one of his favourites in our year group. I do think there's a girl in his homeroom whom he likes better than me, but I like to think that we're almost equal in his mind.

18. Has your TC ever done something that made you upset or angry?

This year, other than English, T also takes our class's Gym sessions. We were doing a warm-up activity once and I was with a group of some of the least-athletic people so we did really bad, and he kind of jokingly laughed/mocked at us for it. It was evidently not malicious in any way but I got upset because it kind of hurt my ego, especially since I already feel inferior to him and S because they're both really athletic people and I'm not.

19. If your TC wasn't a teacher, what occupation do you think they would have?

He could totally train to be a professional footballer, or... sport literature? Is that a thing?

20. Has your TC ever given you a gift?

I wish lmao - the closest would be when I won the writing competition near the end of last year with my poem and he gave me some prizes, which was really nice 🥰

21. Is there a colour that you associate with them?

Dark blue, mostly because he wears dark blue ties and suit jackets a lot, and his eyes are blue (light blue though). He's dependable and poetic and elegant and feels strongly about things, although dark blue does not do his vibrant energy justice.

22. Do you know if any of your classmates like your TC as well? Can you see this being the case?

This year with him being half of the year group's homeroom teacher, I definitely see it being a possibility. His other 'favourite' student in our year likes him a lot, but I doubt any of them likes him the way I do.

23. If you could call your TC a pet name, what would it be?

'Darling', probably? Although I feel like he's not the pet-name kind lol.

24. What's a song that you would use to describe them?

Crazy in Love by Sofia Karlberg? More so to describe how he makes me feel ehehe

25. Have you ever done something dumb to get their attention?

Totally oops, trying to sneak him gifts and him realising, speaking louder when he's around, inserting myself into conversations... I could really go on all day. That's another downside about having one specific TC for this long - too many embarrassing memories.

26. What are your interactions with your TC like? Are you teasing with each other or strictly professional?

He does tend to be quite professional with almost all of his students, but I do think that this year we've been getting slightly closer. I can actually feel the reward of my constant struggle to build a connection with him, and sometimes he gives me the feeling that he seems comfortable talking to me. Only sometimes though 😢

27. If you saw your TC outside of school, would you go up to them? How do you think they would react?

I have seen him outside of school a few times in the past, I was too scared to go up to them lol. That one time when we saw each other at a crossroads a year ago, he smiled and waved at me 🥰

28. Has your TC ever done anything that made you wonder if they knew about your feelings for them?

Not really, even though I always feel like I'm so obvious that he has to has to know by now. Maybe in the way I can never be sure that he doesn't hate me? Like, sometimes he could feel quite distant from me, and I'm not sure if it's him being careful, if he's like this to others as well, or if it's just my insecure ass.

29. What do you think is their biggest fear?

Once in lesson he told us he was afraid of sharks, "and maybe dying…?" For some reason it was adorable.

30. If you found out that your TC was leaving your school, how would you feel? Would it be easy for you to get over them?

News flash, T is leaving us this year. I absolutely hate it and I’m really scared of losing him. He has been such a prominent part of my life, increasingly so every single year, and my whole mind seems to revolve around him. It would not be easy to get over him - I wonder if it would ever happen. In a nutshell, he's leaving and I am terrified.

Jinora x Reader

Summary: The bison episode with a twist.

You had been around the air bending family since you could walk, much to your mothers dismay. Your mother was Lin Beifong and you were the product of a very drunk one night stand that made her realize that men weren't that great. She loved you either way and was pretty strict on you, remembering how loose her mother had been with her and Su. She also made sure to give you attention when she could, sometimes it was hard with being the Chief of Police. Luckily you understood how important her job is and would spend days on Avatar Island when Lin got too busy with work. You also liked hanging out on Avatar Island for two other reasons. One being that no one made fun of you for being the child of Lin Beifong and grandchild of Toph Beifong, two powerful benders, and being a non bender. Also Jinora lived on Avatar Island. You and Jinora had grown up together and at some point in time your platonic feelings for her turned into something more. Of course you never told her, your mom was Lin Beifong, Tenzin's ex-girlfriend. And if that wasn't bad enough you didn't know if she even liked you back or if you deserved her, being a non bender and all. Even though you were a non bender your mom made sure you could fight and you spent time practicing air bending moves with Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo, you even are able to go through the swinging walls with ease now.

When harmonic convergence happened, you went with the Avatar team to the South Pole. You know you couldn't do anything to help really, but you wanted to be there when Jinora woke up. And you were, after pulling her grandma into a tight , she noticed you over Katara's shoulder and after the hug threw herself into your arms. You buried your head into her shoulder and squeezed her super tight. You almost told her your feelings then and there, after realizing you could have lost her or the world could have ended today. But you refrained from doing so because of the big clean up everyone had to deal with. But you made sure to flirt more with her or compliment her, just trying to get her to blush. You even flirted with her in front of Tenzin, much to his dismay. One day, after Bumi had showed everyone he could air bend, you wished you could do the same too. So you found a quiet patch of grass, away from prying eyes and meditated, which was something you enjoyed doing even if you weren't an air bender. While meditating, your thoughts kept going back to Jinora who was showing Bumi air bending moves with Tenzin, Ikki, and Meelo. When suddenly you felt something in you shift and when you opened your eyes you were in the middle of the training area, Tenzin, Bumi, Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo all staring at you in shock. "How did I get here?" you asked, looking around for an answer. When you looked down you noticed that you were blue and floating above the ground. "Ahhh what happened!? Am I a ghost!?" "No your doing spiritual projection! Like I can do, that's amazing." Jinora said in awe, making you blush. "How do I stop? Does this mean I can air bend?"

Turns out you could bend, which led you to where you are now, in the Northern air temple. After releasing all those air benders from the Queen of Ba Sing Se, you didn't like her. You also didn't like this new kid Kai and it's not because of his past or anything like that. It was the fact that Jinora started practically ignoring you and spent all her time hanging and blushing around Kai. What you hadn't known was that Kai was encouraging her to confess her feelings to you, all those blushes you witnessed were over you. After watching Jinora blow up on Tenzin, you waited 10 minutes before going after her, wanting her to calm down some before hand. When you got to her, you saw her and Kai standing on the railing about to fly away. You heart at the fact that Jinora was just gonna leave without you. You turn to leave but accidentally kick a rock making noise. When you look back you see Jinora blushing and Kai sporting a big grin, making you smile back nervously. "Hey y/n, we were gonna go see some baby bison if you want to come with us." Kai offered, taking a quick peek at Jinora with a smirk. "Sure." you say awkwardly, not really wanting to go but you needed to talk to Jinora at some point.

As you flew, you caught up to Jinora before putting your back towards the ground and fly under Jinora. "Did I do something wrong?" Jinora looked down startled to see you right under her, causing her to blush. "No." she said simply with a small smile before flying down towards where the baby sky bison were the day before. "Where are all the bison?" Kai asks and as soon as he does Jinora gets caught in a net. "Jinora!" you yell before turning where to see the net came from. You fought with the bison hunters, while Kai tried to free Jinora from the nets he got caught too. "Kai!" you yelled turning to him as you watch him hit the ground next to Jinora, who's eyes widen. "Look o--" Jinora said before you felt your body get launched into the air and slammed to the ground. Before you pass out, you make eye contact with Jinora, who has fear written in her eyes.

You groan, as you wake up, feeling yourself leaning against something warm. You blink your eyes a couple times to try and clear your eyes. When your eyes finally clear up, you look up to see what you had been leaning against Jinora, which causes you to blush. Feeling your movement Jinora pauses her conversation with Kai to turn and look at you. When she sees you already looking at her she gives a small smile and blushes. "I'm so glad your awake." She says as she wraps her arms around you lightly in a hug. After you hug, you try and sit up only to groan in pain. "What happened?" Jinora bit her lip in worry, "You got practically body slammed into the air and then ground. You need to be careful, you probably broke something." You nod your head in understanding, just now finally noticing the small room your in and the bars. "What the hell? Why are we in a cage?" "It's the bison hunters, they are taking bison to the Earth Queen." Kai says from another side of a wall with anger in his voice. "Does anyone know we're missing yet?" "I sent a spirit to tell Bum-Ju, who hopefully got Uncle Bumi's attention." You nod your head in understanding and you all sit in silence for a minute, before you hear noise from Kai's cell. Next thing you see is Kai's face smiling in front of your cage. Before he can start unlocking your cage Jinora interrupts him, "Get the bison first." You nod your head in agreement before watching Kai get launched away from the cages.

"Crap." You say as you watch Kai get into a fighting stance. You sit up from leaning against Jinora, wrapping an arm around your ribs in pain, to get a better look at what was happening. Jinora sits up as well, still keeping an eye on you. You get a smile on your face when you see all the new air benders come rushing in to aide Kai. While they're fighting, Kai manages to free 1 of 2 other bison before getting to your and Jinora's cage. Before he can even start unlocking it, he gets earth bended away from the truck before the truck takes off. From the break neck speed the truck goes, you and Jinora slam back against the wall, both of you making sounds of pain from the force of the impact. After a few minutes of driving, you peek out and look towards the front of the truck from in between the bars. Right as you did, you saw a full grown bison land in front of the car and slam it's tail against the ground. Before you could think about what you were doing, you turned around fast and pulled Jinora into your chest. You shut your eyes waiting for impact, which means you didn't see Jinora blush at your actions.

When the wave of air hit it caused the truck to flip. After the first flip you tighten your hold on Jinora and feel your back hit the bars over and over again. When it finally stops, you feel like you can breath again. You loosen your hold on Jinora, wanting to make sure she's okay before passing out from pain. When you look down and notice that Jinora had a tight grip on your shirt and her eyes were squeezed shut. "Jinora." You whisper, fighting the black dots that clouded your vision. Jinora loosens her hold on your shirt and looks up, her eyes widen. "Oh my spirits! You're bleeding!" Jinora says, you just smile before saying, "I'm gonna pass out now."

When you awake your on a bed in the air temple. When you sit up you groan in pain and notice the bandage around your stomach and one on your temple. You sit up slowly and grab your glider to use as a cane. (Like how Aang does when he wakes up after getting struck by lightning.) You start heading outside to find anyone but notice that it's night time and head to Jinora's room instead. You knock on her door, hoping she's not asleep, and turn to leave when she doesn't open the door. Right as you turn around, however, the door opens and Jinora pops her head out. When she meets your eyes, hers widen and she opens the door all the way. She pulls you into the room, mindful of your injuries, and makes you sit down on the bed. "Why are you out of bed?" Jinora questioned, arms crossed in front of her chest. You just shrug, "I woke up by myself and wanted to see where everyone else was. "Did all the baby bison get free? You didn't get injured too did you?" You respond, asking your own questions. Jinora just shakes her head in amusement by the fact that you were more worried about everyone else, when you were the one most hurt. "Yes, we got all the baby bison and no one was hurt. Which reminds me... What were you doing!? I know you didn't want to see me hurt but you were already injured! I could have handled being thrown around, you body couldn't!" You had never seen Jinora mad before, but you also didn't see what she was like when you passed out in the truck. Jinora couldn't get the sight of your bloody head out of her memory. "Jinora!" you say as you pull her into you when she suddenly starts crying, the position slightly awkward because you still sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Look I'm sorry I worried you. I know you can handle yourself, I just don't like seeing you hurt when I could have done something about it." Jinora sniffles some, keeping her face pressed into your neck. "Why?" That question was simple, so why did it make your heart beat so hard. You knew why, you were gonna tell the truth. No half-assed because you care about her, nope, you were gonna be completely honest. "Well I don't know how to say this, or how you'll react but just no that you'll always be my friend." Your sentence caused Jinora to sit up, she had never seen you so nervous before. Making eye contact with her, you let out a deep breath. "Jinora... I like you more than a friend. And it's okay if you don't feel the same, I've noticed how close you've gotten to Kai over the last couple of weeks." Jinora was shocked by your confession. You liked her too? Kai would never stop teasing her for how he was right and that your feelings for each other were shared. You on the other hand took Jinora's shock in a bad way. "I should probably see myself out." You said as you untangled from her and grabbed your glider. As soon as you stood up, however, you got tugged back by Jinora. Before you could ask anything, you were pulled into a kiss. Your eyes widened in shock before returning the kiss. Holy spirits, you thought, I can't believe this is happening! As you both pull away from the kiss. "If it's not clear by now I feel the same way y/n." You just nodded dumbly in understanding, still in shock over the kiss. Before you could say anything Jinora yawns, "We can talk more in the morning but we should probably go to bed." You just nodded your head again before grabbing your glider to leave. "Where are you going?" Jinora asked as you moved towards the door. "You said go to bed..." You replied as you mumbled out a few other excuses to try and lessen the blush on your face. Jinora just chuckled at how adorable yo looked rambling.

"Come on just stay in here with me."
