The only thing Hofnarr had going on with him in life was being autistic asf which led him to being very skittish and socially withdrawn but academically superior, and being autistic still applies to Tricky, though he doesn't face the same challenges nor have the same academic desires he did when he was alive bc of him lowkey being a reality bending God atp lmao. He can do whatever he wants now so if something clashes with the autism negatively then he can instantly get rid of it (I'm not projecting)

Aside from that, the only afflictions he's got going on are what you'd expect of a fuckin 60 year old rotting zombie lol

He is still the genius he was when he was Hofnarr! And he's not trying to hide it or anything like that! His interests have just shifted from the academic world to frivolous things that bring him instantaneous satisfaction, like DJing and Partying and Killing People, obvs lol. This isn't to say he doesn't still get enjoyment out of flexing his brain and putting his smarts to use, he just acts much more on impulse and short term dopamine rushes, as opposed to how Hofnarr acted mainly on careful methodical planning and long term dopamine cycles.

He had a thing going on with Jeb when he was still Hofnarr, though neither of them really "pursued" it in a very Definitive or Official capacity. It was very much a "What are we?" kind of situation ykwim. He did of course care very deeply for Christoff but Jeb was too emotionally closed off to truly let him in like that, so it was mainly relegated to chance intimate moments and the occasional heat of the moment "incidents" lol, but they missed out on something real. Tricky, even now, knows there's a part of him that still feels that way for Jeb but he knows damn well that they're not gonna have what they could've all that time ago, so he's more content to just playfully tease him and dick around and get on his nerves than pursue something more, Jeb can't keep up with Tricky's insanity the same way others could. This esp applies in dad au, where Jeb is essentially Boxxy's second dad since he helped raise her, but he's not "with" Tricky like that.

Despite what you'd expect of a homicidal freak like Tricky is, he's incredibly social and down to hang and do whatever cause he's always in search of a good time! Except if he's pissed off about something with Hank or the AAHW but I digress. Dude fuckin loves clubbing and headlining sets for them, he loves breaking it down on the dancefloor, of course half the time he parties it ends in him fuckin massacring the joint he's chilling at but tbh, maybe you just need to get used to the "killin" part of "chillin n killin"

The visual of the static and words that pops up around him in the series obvs is just a cool visual thing with him but I like to think that he can just like…do that shit lol. Like if he so feels inclined, he'll project screams and static into the minds of people, which effects them in such a way where their brain functions are numbed to hell and they practically cease being able to make decisions, form thoughts, or even use brain power to move their bodies n shit, and they're just subjected to internal screaming in addition to whatever the fuck Tricky feels like doing to them.

Whenever he scuffles with Hank, he Especially tries to not use any cheap tricks to get a leg up over him, bc Hank is one of the few people who can actually give him a challenge in a fight and that makes things WAAAAAAY more exciting and fun, so doing some underhanded shit he could easily pull bc of his reality bending powers just makes shit less fun, and he values fun over anything else. Unless Hank actually manages to piss him the fuck off during a fight, in which cause He won't give a fuck anymore, and he'll go full fuck it we ball mode n try whatever to kill his ass, like going flame demon mode n chasing him n shit like that

When he talks he audibly uses tone indicators out loud, like verbally saying "slash J" or "slash Joke" out loud when he speaks. he doesn't do it to be courteous or whatever he just thinks its sounds funny as hell

i was literally just a teenager at the time but seeing dashcon ads on Tumblr I was like. it's in Schaumburg??? like 30min from me??? I HAVE to go this is going to be the coolest thing ever. I love Tumblr all my mentally ill friends and supernatural gifs are on that website. I bet they're gonna have the coolest party ever.

so i asked for the dashcon tix for my birthday! it was for me and my best friend (who attended and even cosplayed Homestuck with me despite not knowing anything about it) and my mom, who was mostly excited about staying in the nice hotel and swimming in the pool. I was so hype for this. anyways we get there and as people have previously talked about vis a vis dashcon, it was so hilariously underwhelming. the first thing you had to do was walk into the registration hall. I think most people have seen pics but they had written "Welcome DashCon" or something to that effect on the ground using blue painters tape, and the hall was empty asf which was really funny because they had set the table up aaaaaall the way at the back so you just got to walk across this big empty hall towards ONE PERSON sitting at a table (who in retrospect I'm pretty sure was the 19 year old they'd foisted this thing onto). she was super nice at the time though so shout out to that interaction.

we pretty much immediately headed for the only actual show floor area, which was the artists alley. if dashcon attendees are hard to find, I'm sure dashcon exhibitors are fucking unicorns bc there was... maybe 30 booths, if I'm being very generous. that being said, I got to meet nd Stevenson at dashcon! he was really nice, and complimented my cosplay. it's kind of fun to get to say I met the artist and author behind nimona and lumberjanes and she-ra at fucking DASHCON lol. hopefully next time I meet him it will be as a fellow professional comics artist huh who said that

gotta take a moment here to stress something. dashcon was very poorly planned and executed. this is true. BUT. the atmosphere, especially on the first day, was so joyful and connected. everyone was so stoked to be at THE Tumblr convention. all of us were weirdos who liked the weirdo website enough to show up in person for all our weirdo friends. We were all exchanging urls and taking big group photos and going to grab lunch together. people were very open and friendly. and I know that's my perspective as well, obviously there were plenty of things going horribly wrong behind the scenes, but having only been an attendee, it really wasn't the worst experience.

anyways so the day was fun and weird and a little boring because dashcon had fucking nothing going on but anyways so the scamming part. they called everyone into this main ballroom and stood on a little stage up front and were like "HEY IF WE DONT RAISE $200,000 THEYRE SHUTTING US DOWN" which definitely did NOT break my tiny little idiot baby heart. I definitely was super self aware and knew this was a dumb scam and I definitely DIDN'T cry and run to the hotel pool to tell my mom. she however immediately went "they're scammers and we paid for our hotel room so whatever lol". my bestie gave them $10 and after the fact was (rightfully) SUPER pissed about it because she WAS smarter than me and figured out the scam thing faster.

I think besides that scam thing the other thing I remember thinking was such fucking bullshit was that we would be walking past the ballroom where Welcome to Night Vale was supposed to perform and the line was insane. It was literally SOOOOO many people. I remember being a little bummed that I hadn't gotten tickets which was.... obviously a short lived regret. when they announced the night Vale cancellation I definitely realized shit was hinky.

a majority of the photos I have are from ballpitstuck! there was a Homestuck meetup at the ball pit, but a lot of us had found each other already and had been hanging out in little feral packs of homestucks, so we all meshed super well and basically immediately all became besties. we ended up kind of collectively agreeing to post stuff in the "ballpitstuck" tag, which is hilarious. I actually made fanart at the time! It's somewhere in the depths of my art blog. I've probably posted most of these before but for posterity:

we were cringe. but we were free. no but for real I did have so much fun hanging with the homestucks.

anyways the rest of the con was pretty much just hanging out and watching everything burn from the inside out. my favorite part was watching Tumblr react to dashcon in real-time, because everyone AT the convention was posting about it, and everyone who wasn't at the convention was actively following the updates. by the time we left I just remember being like "I think we've just experienced something very interesting". and now there's a Wikipedia page and a sarah z video about it so.

i never said everyone has to enjoy my writing. also the Thing is; these big authors have been publishing for longer yeah !! and their writing is absolutely marvelous and i genuinely adore them. but. they also are popular bc they're seen as Better than other creators and put on a pedestal. which is both uncomfortable for them and Highly discouraging for others. and this is due to a cliquey mindset. it Is. as much as u like to pretend it isn't, it rlly rlly is. people can be just friends. there is nothing wrong with supporting ur friends' work more or being more invested in ur friends' work. the problem lies in the fact that many people just disregard other rlly talented creators in favor of the already popular ones (who are popular for a reason. their art / fics / wtv Are really good and i read their stuff too! not trying to put them down here, just trying to lift other people up) which makes for a fandom that is going to die out. and dont u fucking dare bring my fics and my engagement and me into this. maybe i was petty abt that before and i acknowledge that. but i haven't made a single post abt how my fics are getting less engagement in Months. the post i did make and the one ur probably so butthurt abt wasn't even initially abt cliques. it was just saying that we need to rb more and be more vocal of our support of creators in the tags or - wherever. Let's talk abt Starlet and Warren! Putting a heart-shaped bandaid on my emotions rn 🩷

Lowkey love that Starlet is a diva. She's gotta have things a very specific way or else it's just ruined. But I would like to think it makes her very detail-oriented (imo, which is why she specifically found an attraction to Warren out of anyone from the band; she could appreciate the drumline).

But she can spot the tiniest mistake in so many things! Yeah, the painting on the wall looks fine, but it's a smidge crooked. And her lipstick is cherry red, NOT strawberry red.

I can also see her being very organized. Everything has a place on her vanity, wardrobe, nightstand, medicine cabinet, etc. Her wardrobe is categorized by item, style, and color, and she rotates the items by season so she's always dressed appropriately for the weather.

Then enter in the love of her life: Warren.

I think he brings a sort of needed chaos to her life that kinda brings her out of her perfectionist spells on some days. He doesn't care if he's following the latest trends, or if his jackets gets hung up, or if his stuff never ends up in the same place twice.

He talks her down from her temper tantrums and genuinely hears her out about why the curtains being the wrong shade of blue for their house upsets her so much, or why something really trivial gets on her nerves so often. He tries to make some levity out of the situation, an off-handed comment about the wrong shade adding character to the house, or it genuinely being a good compliment to the other colors in the room.

Warren keeps her level-headed. Even on the occasion he's at the brunt of one of her tantrums, he takes it in stride. He doesn't snap back at her, doesn't make a fight out of it. Just "okay, you're upset with me; seen and heard... i'm gonna take a shower & we'll talk when you're cooled off" bc he's been witness to one too many fights where both sides are too pissed to see the other side, so he's not gonna do that.

And they always make up, her bashfully apologizing for acting that way and him telling her not to worry. He's used to intense personalities, but that's why he loves her. And if Starlet did say something that actually hurt his feelings, he brings it up (bc he knows letting shit fester kills relationships/friendships *side eyes billy & eddie*) and they talk it out.

Shout out Angel & Graham and Starlet & Warren for being the more well-adjusted, healthy relationships for reader personas

yes she is so detail oriented, she's the first to notice if something is even the tiniest bit off, something in a slightly different location, and she likes things meticulously done.

is there a tiniest spot the paint missed? she notices. dust? she sees it. she's got an eye for every shade difference. and yes everything has a place, from her closet to her spice rack being in alphabetical order, pantry organized, shoes by the door have to be lined up perfectly, although she keeps her shoes in her closet, also organized. everything has perfection and she has house cleaners to keep the place spotless and help her keep up with it. and her parents fed into that since childhood, she would organize her toys a specific way and freak out if when picked up they weren't placed that way and start throwing a tantrum.

and warren is chaotic asf, clothes strewn on the floor for days where starlet is used to leaving her clothes on the floor and then coming home to have everything cleaned up. warren throws his stuff on the dresser, shoes in random places. and when starlet sees where he sleeps for the first time it freaks her tf out, she's like, "how do you live like this?"

she totally has days where the drugs are wearing off and just nothing in the house seems right to her, that the cleaner messed up somehow and she goes around the house freaking out about every small thing, crying, and tantruming. and like this is the moment she wakes up bc something just feels wrong and warren is following her around until finally he's grabbing her arm softly to turn her to face him, "baby, baby it's fine, they don't come in until noon, they'll fix it, okay? just breathe." and then holding her until she nods and is ready to move on with the day.

when she wants a room repainted and the shade isn't what she asked for bc they were out so they grabbed the next closest thing and hoped she wouldn't notice? she notices. and the moment she comes home is like, "that's not right."

"what's not right, baby?"

"the paint isn't right, this is columbia blue, not light steel." and he can tell she's getting worked up about it.

"hey, the difference isn't even noticeable, I promise."

"but it's not right, and with the curtains-"

"the curtains look good, baby, it adds a quirk to it, makes it unique, okay?"

and after a lot of observing she finally agrees, but she wouldn't have even considered it if it weren't for him.

she rarely is angry with him specifically and she has no idea how to handle it when she is, she tweaks out bc he understands her so well but rn it feels like he's ruining her life.

"no, warren, you don't get it, oh my god!"

"baby, you're upset, and that's okay, I'm gonna take a shower, give you time to cool off and then we can talk about it, okay?"

and he waits until she reluctantly nods to exit, and someone not instantly feeding into her tantrum actually makes her stand there and think about why she's upset and if this is a reasonable response to be having to it.

she definitely cries a little bit first and then she sits on the bed, after fixing her hair and makeup first bc she needs to feel perfect ab herself, and when warren gets out the shower she is there waiting, "hi baby, you ready to talk about it now?"

and she nods so he'll sit next to her, towel wrapped around his waist, and she tries to act prim and proper about it but apologies are hard for her so she ends up playing with her hair and trying to hide her face a little bit, "I'm sorry for freaking out on you, warren, you don't deserve that."

"don't stress yourself out about it, you were having a moment, everybody has them." and grabbing her hands, "some of things you say though, baby, aren't the nicest, would he nice if we could reel that in before we say it, yeah?" and she nods, looking at her lap, "hey, we don't gotta do that, baby." and tilting her face back up, "don't get all nervous on me, okay? I'm not upset. let's go get some ice cream."

(they do not get ice cream until much later after they have some make up sex and she does in fact suck him off that time after there's lots of strawberry lube involved, and then they go get ice cream and cuddle up)

yeah this movie apparently didn't get the greatest reviews, from what i've seen, but some of the issues they point out make the movie great imo. I've seen one talk about the absurdity of the movie, which, again, makes the movie funny and appealing (at least to me!!). While at first I was like, "Wait, this is kind of just how ten-year-olds act - pretty chaotic/crazy - why is everyone PISSED at this guy.." I kinda realize that yeah I do feel like some kids might be treated like how Clifford was, unfortunately. Like, for example, a scene where Clifford was watching something inappropriate (n*dity [idk if I have to censor bc of Tumblr but i'll see?]), and Martin - his guardian at the time - didn't gaf. I feel like a lot of kids don't have parents/guardians that watch over what they do on the internet as much as they should. Martin didn't really care about him a lot of the movie/was mean to him (which did make a lot of scenes funny). In addition to all of that- Clifford has a crush on an adult, Martin's girlfriend, which again added another reason why Martin kinda hated him, I suppose (petty ahh Martin). In a deleted scene, Sarah (Martin's gf) reacts to Clifford admitting he likes her very well, and overall is just a good person to Clifford, which I love. She's also a daycare worker, which might be a good contributing factor to that. Clifford having a crush on an adult is also a good representation of real kids, since real kids do get crushes on adults, whether that be a celebrity or a teacher.

I like kind of the balance of underlying truth to this movie that might have not been intended (again imo), and just comedy.

okay SA mention here soo yeah warning!! but if you don't want to read that my conclusion is that this movie is awesome sauce, Clifford his me, AND I LOVE THIS MOVIE no matter if I'm overreacting or whatever. also note that Martin Short was bordering 40 while filming this (while Clifford was TEN.) might edit all of this a bit too

okay moving on a bit;

there's a scene kiiiiinnndaaa near the end where Clifford rants about a party that had taken place at Martin's house (which Clifford started. Silly little guy). He says that someone tried to touch him in his "special no-no place," as he described, and said he was also tied up by some bikers. Martin, in response to hearing this, barricades the door and Clifford has to call Sarah to come and get him. Before Clifford calls Sarah, and after Martin leaves,, Clifford is able to slip out from the ropes by himself and implies he was putting on an act (get this kid into acting). At least I'm pretty sure he implied it?? I really don't want to assume anything but I cant find ANYTHING about it online I have dug for ages. However, even if he was putting on an act, Martin still BARRICADED THE DOOR SO CLIFFORD WAS STUCK IN THE ROOM? crazy asf if you ask me, even if you are angry (at a TEN YEAR OLD like calm down buddy idgaf if he's trying to steal your gf GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF 💔💔)

Sarah also also went through something kiiiinda related? But it was with her boss. They were in a car, and he was just forcefully kissing her and stuff, but she managed to get him off of her and SNATCHED HIS WIG HELLO.. definitely my second favorite character in the movie!!!!!

also there was a joke I think about either some drag queens/trans women (from what I can tell) and Sarah didn't BAT AN EYE (in a good way since Martin stared) we stan an ally!!!!!!!!

but yeah could the directors not think of anything else to stuff this movie with... I'll have to do some more research if I can even find anything because again I couldnt even find ANYONE talking about Sarah and Clifford's experience.

Tommy did not commit a crime. maybe he did idk but its no grooming, sa, or murder. But even then, no creators would stop supporting him. Look at any evil minded ytbr in the past still receiving tons of support. Doesn't matter what it is

I know everyone's dying to know but I've realized I don't want to directly talk about the rumor ive heard thru the grapevine bc the info is dubious (i personally can believe it) but I have no true way of verifying it. If its not true I don't want to cause damage, but if it is true at least now if someone else breaks the story no one will be blindsided like in a few controversies past. also since I got out of the psych ward and was prescribed 3 different mood stabilizers I've stopped caring abt twitch streamers that are not squeex or ludwig. I just want to remove myself from white british men who provide nothing to the world.
