I'm actually excited for this. I have been REALLY enjoying reacting to this show and making posts about it.

I mean, yeah, it has problems, that I did complain about, BUT I enjoy watching it and I'm liking it and I think that's what matters more than anything else.

And besides, I never acted like Total Drama was perfect either. I've complained about that too.

It's really interesting how I, as a Total Drama fan, got to this point, you know? I picked up the show when it was on YouTube (the channel is terminated now) during Covid Quarantine to kill the time and get away from my own problems. I was WEIRDED out by the show to say the least when I watched the first season, because I wasn't used to anything like it at the time... but then a couple weeks later I found myself not able to stop thinking about it for the next 3-4 years.

The show was very fun and chaotic and I really enjoy its premise despite its flaws. The show was also responsible for opening my eyes to more psychological research, believe it or not. Because in my fanon mindset that might or might not be canon (depends) the show was about how damaging these reality shows could be to people. So I like to dive into the more interesting characters psyches and how the show changed them for better or worse.

So now that I am grown up, in my 20s, and working to be a producer for indie animation someday, it feels SO RIGHT for me to come across an indie show similar to Total Drama and be invested in it as much as I became. I was NOT recommended this show. I was told to keep my distance because it was bad. But while I do confess there's problems, I DO think the writing in particular is the weakest element of this show, I enjoy it, I've really liked it, and I think that's what matters to me.

I'm definitely going to react to Season 2 & 3 in the future. But before then there's a tier list for every character I want to do, because I have A LOT to say regarding that.

It really does feel like a new era of my Tumblr Blog for me. I started this blog years ago as an advertisement for my writing. But then I took my hobby of making essays about media and started posting here, and because of my Total Drama addiction, I had a lot of people mistaking me for a 'Total Drama Blog'.

I am NOT a Total Drama blog. There's other stuff, and other media, that I talk about. AnalyzGolden is not limited to what she analyzes XD

So it does feel like a new era reacting to Disventure Camp and wanting to talk about it. Even though I'm not caught up.

So thank you for the support of these posts so far. First and foremost. You guys really have motivated me to do these knowing you enjoy them, and my... interesting personality being on display.

Because my posts are usually so analytic, it's a bit harder to showcase the user's personality with them, and in reaction posts, that's much easier to see. I'm not always this stern objective analytical person who acts all calm the entire time XD. I'm actually very emotional and expressive in personality, so some of my followers are probably gonna see these posts and think "What?! Golden is like THIS?! What is THIS side of her?!"

Anyway, enough stalling. Let's finish this season.

I think she DOES care, but she's also so caught up in her own ego that she acts like she doesn't. That's how last elimination happened.

Thank you for your videos! I started watching because I wanted to write fanfiction but never did any creative writing. I did essays. But that's for school. How to hone your writing skills? How to progressively get better? Any writers on websites to follow, videos like YouTube etc. Any courses to take on how to write ? I'm ready 📝

The main course I did to learn how to write 👉 bachelor degree 🤪 It didn't teach me how to write better fanfiction, but it did teach me enough about the publishing industry for me to see how fanfiction as a medium differs from published fiction and what gaps regular writing advice isn't filling. (Context! Yay!)

In all seriousness, the best stuff I learned about writing was from reading hundreds of blogposts and watching hundreds of videos ever since high school. Holly Lisle's blog and email list was a favourite of mine back then, and now it's Mythcreants.com, because they have a critical, intersectional approach to storytelling that cuts through most of the industry fluff. (Seriously, just read their take-down of the 'Save the Cat' formula.)

In terms of YouTubers, some of my favourites include Abbie Emmons, Hello Future Me, Reedsy, and Jenna Moreci. (I just realised that there isn't a whole lotta diversity, especially race-wise, in this bunch, so that's something for me to improve.)

These other two sources aren't exactly general writing resources but they have been important perspectives on my fanfiction journey: @writingwithcolor and Stitch's Media Mix. Part of improving fanfiction isn't just about improving pacing, plotting, and prose, but also representation. These two resources focus mainly on race, but there are a wealth of resources by people of various minorities offering advice on how to better represent people like them.

The main caution I'd like to give in regards to most of these resources is that they assume that your goal is to get published, and thus their goal is to teach you how to write something that's sellable, something you can pitch to agents, something you can market to a sizeable enough niche. I cannot stress enough how pervasive this assumption is, to the point where we're conditioned to believe that fanfiction can only ever be a stepping stone towards getting published.

If your goal is to write fanfiction, then you need to treat the advice any professionals offer... as a sundae bar. 🍨 Take what works for your story, for the fanfiction medium in general, and leave the rest. Critically examine all professional writing advice through the lense of a hobbiest.

(Side Note: If you decide that you do want to be published someday, that's totally okay! This ask was specifically about fanfiction so that's why I'm centring that.)

I think the only way to keep getting incrementally better at writing fanfiction is to think of a story you love so much that you're willing to learn whatever you can to write it. It's about putting passion and personal fulfilment first and whatever is considered "good writing" (usually defined by whatever's profitable) as a close second. We fic-writers and readers live for the indulgent nature of these stories. As long as you're writing and having fun (and improving your craft because it's fun), I think you're gonna smash out some great fics!

sorry for taking so long to answer these!! i really had to think abt the answer so it took a while! sorry if the first one ended up being an essay

1. it tends to vary depending on how well i have the artwork planned out! the thing that tends to take the longest for me is the decision-making parts (sketch and composition, base colors, and colors again once im almost done but going “ok but...what if..”) and the rest(lineart, shading, details) is basically stuff that i can go on autopilot for. so if i already know what im gonna do and somehow stick to that, an artwork can take 3-6 hours depending on size! but most of the time it can take several days of having multiple artworks up at the same time, and making small changes in each at a time until im happy enough to move on lol. so its really hard to measure the time on those since i don’t really know if going back and forth between “lime green” and “turquoise green” for 2 days counts as me actually drawing. i also have a habit of always letting the artwork “rest” for a day inbetween steps where i dont look at it to make sure im not missing any obvious mistakes. (especially at the sketch and linework stage, if they look off the entire artwork will) looking at your art with a fresh eye is really important!

when it comes to speeding up the process i think simply drawing things often enough really is the way to go. its boring but to me the fast parts are only that bc ive done it so many times i dont have to think too much when doing it! (unless im trying something new, which i have been doing lately and oh wow we sure are Thinking in this house) also i see all my artworks as a very “step by step” routine, so i try to never go back once ive completed a step. it makes just moving forward easier. since i also have several artworks up at a time; theyre almost always at different steps in the process, so if i get stuck at or bored with say, lineart, i just go to another artwork where im doing final details and just have fun with that! it makes me feel like im always making progress somwhere. also dont be afraid to just redo something entirely if it looks off. save ur canvas and open a new one and start over, its usually way faster the second time and u keep ur previous mistakes in mind so overall? its faster than to keep adjusting the same parts of the artwork over and over and never really being happy with it, at least thats how it is for me! also also also; make your own brushes for things u already know how to draw but dont wanna do by hand 50 times over. like say, the diamonds in some of my works? theyre just a confetti esque brush with a bunch of diamonds i drew the outline of. then i color them in manually and do shinies and shades but i wont have to do linework for that at least, and its still in my “style” bc i drew them! (it also lessens the feeling of “cheating” that, i at least, tend to have at not doing everything manually) ....also get over the feeling that ur cheating when ur taking shortcuts. in this house we are Professionals who know what we are doing and there should be NO shame for achieving the same results more efficiently

3. i cant write to save my life!! all i do is pretty drawings, which i love doing, but it would rule to someday work with others to create some form of comic or webtoon or just general story that i can illustrate!
