AITA for slowly ghosting a fwb instead of confronting him when I found out he's been stalking people again?
He (twenties, M) and I (twenties, X) knew each other from college. He's genuinely a fun guy. Also, a cis person being into you as a nonbinary person (as your gender, not despite it) in a non-fetishy way is frankly too powerful. So yeah, we started talking more some time after graduation, and it turned into a digital-only friends-with-benefits situation.
I was wary of him in college, but willing to give him a second chance. It was an open secret among our friend group that he'd stalked a couple of people he was into in college -- resulting in court ordered therapy and a restraining order and everything. I was still mentally/emotionally recovering from an abusive relationship years prior that the ex stalked me after for a few years. So you can see why it was a big deal that I gave this distant friend another chance, willing to get as close to him as I did. I guess I thought that like, the therapy had worked?
Well, fast forward to us being close after college. He doesn't know that I know about his previous two times getting nearly expelled for stalking people. I have not told him anything about my years-ago abusive relationship, but it's possible he has some awareness of it due to mutual friends. I kept firm with a boundary that he will have no more specific geographic information about me than my city, and he's certainly never learning my address. He has no way to know about my more "personal" social media like Tumblr. I am protecting myself.
But a few months into us being fwb and having fun and me repeatedly asserting my boundaries regarding irl interaction. He complains to me that someone is claiming that he's stalking them. I casually ask about the situation, assert that yeah what he's doing is shitty, he should stop, and it does sound like stalking (even though he insists it isn't). We never talk about it again.
He started showing up in my trauma nightmares, and suddenly the second chance I gave him seems like a terrible idea. So, over the next few months, I make a planned retreat. I respond less frequently, less promptly, and with less emotion. I planned out my strategy by the week to look like a natural loss of interest, or a natural "got busy with other stuff."
My logic is that he clearly has not learned to stop stalking people. I am not willing to continue exposing myself to that personal risk. But I am also not willing to say "I refuse to remain friends with an unrepentant stalker." I'm afraid that if I do that, he will get the wrong lesson: that he needs to never admit to any other friend what he's done, or else he'll lose them. The right lesson obviously would be: don't follow people to their houses after they've cut contact and don't send them letters asking whether they're living alone again yet, what the fuck. I am afraid that if I tell him why I'm ghosting, he will simply never talk about this pattern ever again, thus removing the ability of future friends like me to make informed decisions about who they're spending their time with.
We're now one year into when I fully ended contact. I did not block him. I still get two texts a week from him -- sometimes "are you okay" sometimes life updates, usually just "hey". He has made no indications that he has visited the city where I live, thank god. I have not explained to any of our mutual friends what I did. I have not talked to anyone, not my therapist not my spouse, about what I did. I am not going to speak to him again, but I am not going to block him, because I need my cutting contact to look natural.
So yeah. AITA for not making a bigger deal of his continued stalking of other people? In my mind I'm protecting myself, and reducing the likelihood he'll start hiding his nature from future friends, so this way they can be informed and protect themselves as needed. But AITA for lowkey ghosting him instead of having a serious conversation about his behavior? I know he sucks. I just don't know if I also suck.
What are these acronyms?

Can u make one alhaitham having a fiancée the entire time they dated resder but reader wasn’t aware and reader has terrible trust issues. But alhaitham never agreed to marry them because him smhhh fiancée just found it easy to shut their parents off and date their own lovers UGH 😭😭💀 you can also do this with diluc make them grovel
Oh so like an arranged marriage? Sure! Ofc I would love to hurt Alhaitham, I'm going to have it so that the fiancées parents are the ones that break it to the reader, and the fiancée is actually fine with the whole Alhaitham dating someone else bc they don't really want to go ahead with the marriage. Throwing in Kaveh being a supportive friend for Alhaitham, that sentence will make sense trust me! Gender neutral reader (may have slipped up somewhere, please tell me if I do!)
Also I KNOW I am notoriously bad for 'maybe I'll do a part 2' but with this I AM going to do a part 2. Seriously, I have got a few ideas for a part 2 and if anyone is wanting to help me decide on which one to go with please feel free to tell me haha! I have all these possible ideas, but my brain cannot decide so easily to fully commit on one thing.
---
"Excuse me, may we have a word with you?" A couple ask you, concerning you. "It won't take too long. It is in regards to Alhaitham."
"Is he alright?" You ask, the couple not responding.
"May we come in?" The couple ask, you nodding as you grew concerned about Alhaitham's wellbeing. At the time, you honestly thought he was in a dire situation and it was a case where these pair would have to tell you privately how poor of a condition he is in.
--
"I don't believe you. He wouldn't hold that away from me, he's a good communicator." You protest, the couple pulling out the document Alhaitham signed with the conditions clearly set out, as well as the other individual.
"You are a homewrecker, don't you have any shame?" The mother spits out, the father immediately gripping the mother by the shoulder to shut her up. "I know you must have grown very close, but this man has a fiancée. When the marriage kept being postponed, it was only natural that we investigated the situation."
"But I know this person." You reply, pointing to the other name on the contract. "She's never voiced any concerns about my relationship with Alhaitham."
"You're ruining the family by doing this, you know that?" The father states. "You need to end this fling of yours before it gets any more serious."
--
That night, you walk over to Alhaitham's house. It was supposed to be a date, but you were not dressed for such an occassion. Bashing on the door, Alhaitham opens the door. Before he can start a word, you storm in.
"Oh, are you both having a night in?" Kaveh asks, beginning to move to get up to give you some privacy.
"No. You stay." You point, Kaveh reluctantly sitting as he looks over at his annoying roommate. "How long were you going to wait until you told me you have a fiancée?"
"That contract was signed years ago." Alhaitham calmly states.
"Not the question I asked." You growl. "I read the contract myself, and the contract was legitimate. You never told me about this." You look Alhaitham in the eye, him seeming to freeze up.
"Please, allow me to explain." Alhaitham responds, you shaking your head no.
"Her parents confronted me, you know? At first I thought they were there to inform me about you being in a poor condition. When they pulled out that contract, I was ashamed of myself." You state. "Even looking back, you never showed any signs of affection towards her."
"That is-"
"You know I have trust issues, and you kept this information from me!" You shout, Alhaitham wincing at the loudness. "I am not a 'homewrecker' by nature, and after learning of this arrangement I have debated on what parts of this relationship were real."
"Please, I can explain." Alhaitham protests, walking towards you. "There is more to this situation than what her parents have told you."
"I can't trust you anymore, Alhaitham." You state, crossing your arms. "I feel so stupid for letting my walls down around you. Moving forward, do not contact me in public. Maintain your distance, and treat your fiancée right."
With that, you left the house.
--
Kaveh usually couldn't stand Alhaitham, but seeing the entire situation compelled him to get his side of the story. He sits with Alhaitham as the man explains that he was constantly asked to sign this stupid contract by this woman's parents, and these were two prominent figures in the community. He signed it, under one condition.
A condition that neither him nor his fiancée agreed with.
"Neither of us want an arranged marriage. I signed it, but only because at the time I thought I would be able to live with her being a roommate. This was even before I met _, and at the time I did think I was too... I don't know how to describe it." Alhaitham sighs, a tear threatening to fall.
"You really love them, don't you?" Kaveh asks with obvious empathy, Alhaitham nodding.
"I should have told them that I wouldn't sign that contract. Even if I didn't meet _, I shouldn't have entertained the idea of an arranged marriage when I was so used to being a lone wolf." Alhaitham shakes his head, Kaveh nodding as he rubs his back.
"Stop me if you don't want my advice." Kaveh starts, Alhaitham looking over and, for once, listening. "You have got to break off this arranged marriage. Now before you tell me about who these two people are, you need to remember you are - as of now - the Acting Grand Sage. No longer do they have the authority to tell you what to do with the threats, now you are the higher up." Kaveh explains, Alhaitham listening intently. "Your fiancée doesn't want this marriage either, yes? Take them with you. It will stop them from harpooning on the possibility your fiancée wants this."
"...I wished I was smart enough to realise all this when I became the acting Grand Sage." Alhaitham sighs. "As you know, it took a long time for the relationship with _ to grow serious enough for them to come along to my house. How can I..." he trails off, head now buried in his hands.
"Allow me to talk to them. I'll take Tighnari and Cyno with me, seeing as they (somehow) became great friends in the duration of your dating." Kaveh explains. "I may not get on with you, Alhaitham, but _ made you happy. I will try my best to properly explain the entire situation."
"Thank you, Kaveh." Alhaitham fails to hold back the tears, pulling him in for a hug. "I am such an idiot with this stuff."
"Yes you are." Kaveh teases, reciprocating the hug. "But I am going to help you fix this."

Alright. So. The Bioshock Infinite issue.
I haven't completed the game but I doubt it'll do a 180 to completely change its politics at this point. (Long post so I added a cut!)
I went into the game and immediately recognized the "Bioshock tm" lack of subtlety and depth when dealing with serious political issues. It has been plaguing all the games in the series. But still, I had an optimistic mindset. I told myself that even if it lacked nuance, racism is a very important issue to bring awareness to.
Something that bothered me with the shallow takes on chauvinism and racism in this game is that it portrays them as things of the past. It doesn't help that they're so exaggerated. It doesn't have the bite of things you can actually still see today. It's not pervasive, it takes the idea that bigotry is only ever bigotry if it's blatant hatred to the extreme.
I think that, like the two other games, it has a very rich environment and potential. DeWitt's involvement with the Native Americans genocide could have genuinely been an extremely compelling plot point had it not be relegated to some sort of INDIVIDUAL guilt. His native american heritage is just a small detail within the tapes. The pride his old sergent has about killing tribes that he could be a descent of is never fully confronted, and you even get encouraged to treat him with kindness and mercy.
I'm honestly waiting for this to get expanded on, but it's the reason why I was in denial for so long about what had happened with the revolutionaries later in game. He's still a guy who was part of a genocide and has not fully confronted it out loud. He's unreliable and I would not trust his takes on racism.
With that in mind, I make my way to Finkton. As soon as I get there, I start killing every cop I see without even getting told to do so by the game. I think I might have missed a fuck ton of scripted animations and dialogues by doing this. The game very strongly established the people there are slaves, and are constantly under the surveillance of the cops I just killed.
I am hyped as shit as soon as the revolution rolls out, but DeWitt's first comment about how "Fitzroy and Comstock are the same besides the names" worried me at first. No worries, I tell myself, surely the game will be smart about it! Surely it will be about how DeWitt is wrong and Elizabeth is gonna teach him he has internalized racism from genociding indigenous people.
Then both him and Elizabeth make this comment again. The game HAS to give Daisy a completely out of character moment to even make killing the black female revolution leader seem like a sensible thing to do. It HAS to make the revolutionaries you kill almost all white after this to prevent you from seeing the obvious racism of what you're doing (alongside resource minmaxing I imagine). I went from being hopeful this will be a just and nuanced tale about confronting your own biases to seeing the game is going to be the weakest lib shit ever. Genuinely going down the route of "all violence is bad :(". They have the absolute gall to do this after literally breaking time and space to bring a revolutionary back to life because he was a POLITICAL PRISONER and got brutally murdered by white supremacists. (Also its fucking hilarious I can kill cops in the hundreds but when the oppressed minority wants to then its some horrible terrible thing)
I don't know, this was a lot of words to not say a lot but it's 7 am and I'm still in shambles I cannot believe they did this. Did nobody proofread the script?? How did this even get published?? Why is it so critically acclaimed??
I am really hoping it'll do a 180 but god am I doubtful.
( @solsono Je te réponds avec un poste à cause de la limite de caractères + en anglais pour les gens qui passent devant mais merci!)

Tumblr media
salty munday meme
You just want to see the world burn~
✖ How has Tumblr RP changed since you started?
My gods, where do I start? When I started we all had ridiculous URLs with 4 dashes in each, we all used random huge gifs as reactions, nobody formatted anything or used small text, and a LOT of people I knew were actually in RP groups and not independent blogs. None of the common staples of RP now were a thing the people I used to write with thought about, I feel: blog rules were none-existent or very very short and basic, exclusivity was not that big a thing (except for the group RPs), blog graphics really didn't matter.
Obviously I can't speak for all of tumblr and all fandoms, but that was my experience in the early days. It felt very low effort and low pressure but high fun. There was a lot less drama than nowadays too, from what I remember, and the overall atmosphere was quite welcoming and.. silly.
☠ What does someone have to do for an instant unfollow from you?
Be rude or mean or cruel or overall obnoxious to me or others. I don't agree with everyone on everything and I don't expect that from anybody else either. But there are things like common decency and manners and mutual respect and tolerance. As long as these things are present, we're going to be just fine. If I see you hating on others or bullying them - and I don't care about your reasons for it - I'm out. We could have absolutely opposing views on e.g. ships but be respectful about it and we'll get along. However, we could have the exact same taste in ships yet I see you hating on other people or being a bully (even if you're nice to me) and we'll absolutely not be friends. Be kind, it takes less energy than being a terrible human being, actually.
Gotta put the rest under a cut because it's long :)
♢ Has anyone ever tried to steal your blog? Your headcanons? Icons? All that jazz
I'm not sure about RP, I don't really pay attention to that. I don't particularly care as long as someone doesn't kinda copy me and then try to go to my writing partners with the same ideas. If someone took my verses or headcanons 1:1 to write them with their own friends and writing partners, honestly have at it. My headcanons also have to be quite specific for me to feel like they're unique to my portrayal. People who write the same muses often come up with similar things because we base it on what we deduce from observing canon and there will be overlaps.
I've had people steal and repost my fanfictions though. And I've had my graphic edits and gifsets reposted without my permission.
☢ What fads/trends are you so over?
Purple prose writing - I never liked it and I never will. Generally excessive formatting too, to be honest. It get that it looks cool, but unless you are engaging in calligram poems the focus on aesthetics over content for me seems a bit misplaced. As always, to each their own, and if that's the art you are aiming to create here then you are doing a fabulous job, but it's simply not what I am looking for.
✿ What do you think about public call out posts?
I think they're bad. More often than not they feel like an excuse to bully people and they create more harm than good. They are never fully honest, never an objective recount of events and never lead to any positive outcomes as far as I can tell. They're the modern online version of trying to create an angry lynch mob to get someone burned at the virtual stake. I reject callout posts and cancel culture in general wholeheartedly.
Of course there are dangerous and shady people in online spaces (like there are away from your computers as well) and in very rare cases it might be good to make a community aware of an ongoing issue or the possibility of something happening. There should be a GENERAL awareness of the dangers of the online world and strangers that could help prevent actual serious incidents. That said, most callouts I've seen are not about serious cases, they're about people having personal altercations that have nothing to do with the rest of the community and should not be discussed in a public war of who's better at making the other look like a psychopath. There are good reasons why in real life, if someone is accused of a crime it's forbidden for people to take justice into their own hands and go after them. When you see a callout on your dash, you never have all the facts, nobody ever seems to question the source of these callouts (enough), they're always incredibly biased and presenting "evidence" out of context (which is the opposite of transparent), and never encourage you to listen to both sides of the story and make your own opinion of it. All of that should make you think twice before you even consider reblogging that. Also: imagine someone wrote a callout about you, with ill-intent, fabricating lies and making your past (& private) messages look shady out of context. Would you want total strangers to shun or even attack you without giving you the benefit of the doubt? I guess not, huh? Do not carelessly treat things as good that you don't want to happen to you in a bad case scenario.
It's just a hard pass for me. I reject this as a way of dealing with personal problems. Not to mention that I don't relate to people's desire to air their dirty laundry on social media. Try to fix your personal issues in private and think about the future consequences of your actions before you publish a lengthy text about someone who wronged you, calling them all sorts of names and things that you will likely find far less appropriate in a year from now, potentially ruining their other friendships, messing with potential new friendships, their chance to calmly reflect on their behavior, and possibly get them ostracized from an entire FANDOM.

Holy shiiiiiiit! Asnsks, I love your blog! Thank you for this amazing content! 😍❤️ Could I please request an Abbacchio x fem! Reader, where she tries to convince him to role play as a police officer for her? Thank yooou! (also, I'm sorry for my terrible English) 💮
No, absolutely I can write that! I have no idea how to do role play (which, you would think as someone training to be an actor, I would, but I just don’t get it.) However, I also said I didn’t see the point of liking Kira and after writing that I discovered so many things about myself. I hope this doesn’t awaken anything in me, ahah.
Update as of finished writting: This awakened something in me, hence the length. Oops.
You may have bitten off more than you can chew with asking Leone Abbacchio to dabble in robber/cop role play. Your fantasy has become a reality, however you’re starting to think the power is getting to his head (in the best way possibly, of course).
Have a character, but no idea? Prompt list here!
Looking for more? Master post here!
WARNINGS: Role play (obviously), handcuffs, man-handling, fingering, making the reader taste their own uh... juices?? (I don’t know what to call it), spanking, dildos (not masturbation, but used on reader, I just can’t remember what it’s called), rough sex, cream pie.
Word Count: 1794
Oh, dear.
“Oh, come on! It could be fun,” you wrapped your arms around Abbacchio’s waist, giving him your best puppy dog eyes. Trying to convince him to role play with you was proving harder than expected. He was more than apprehensive to indulge in your fantasy, but the look in your eyes and the sway of your hips had him weak, only one more word away from breaking to your will. “What could go wrong? Me, in handcuffs, helpless. You could do whatever you wanted.”
He huffed, looking away from you, clearly blushing. You would look so good bare in front of him, hands behind your back, ass red from smacking it so much. He could already feel something churning in him. “Fine.”
Your face lit up at your victory, standing up on your toes to peck him on the lips. “But, no clothes.” You furrowed your brows in confusion. “I’m going out, I want you to be here. All day. No clothes. Try not to do anything suspicious.”
Oh... oh, no. Warmth spread through your core as well as on your face as you nodded, grinning.
-----------
True to your word, you spent the entire day after that wearing nothing, opting to spend most of the time under a blanket until he sent you a message saying he was on his way. At that point, you walked around the house, putting things out of place, hiding things, you know, normal criminal stuff.
You were in the kitchen when he gets home. The minute he steps in, you can feel energy change in the air. It’s serious all of the sudden, sending excitement down your spine. There was no mistaking, he’s going to be hunting your ass (possibly quite literally). In a spur of the moment decision, you hide behind one of the walls so you’re out of view. You can hear his footsteps as they walk into the living room, away from you. A breath of relief rushes through you, but you can’t help shaking, whether it was the cold or excitement, you don’t know, but you hoped he couldn’t hear you.
Abbacchio looked around his living room, noticing little bits and bobbles missing. Whoever “broke in” to his house left the valuables, thank god, at least in this room, perhaps he should check in the kitchen? Soft, slow footsteps made their way towards your hiding place. You couldn’t help shyly covering yourself when you heard him round the corner, stopping at the entrance.
He knew were there, but just to tease you; make you wait, he looked the other way towards the window. Hands in pockets, he walked over to it, closing the curtains. It doesn’t take long to notice the clinking of metal on his hips as well as the shine. Handcuffs, proper handcuffs. You also noticed the bag hanging off his hand. From what you could make out in the plastic, there was something very long and very pink.
Leone hears a shift behind him, then turns around to see what made it. The sight he saw would have knocked any other man onto his knees. He knew better. A woman he had never met standing in his kitchen completely bare. She hadn’t even had the decency to properly cover her tits. He narrows his eyes, sighing.
There was something in the way he looked at you that made you feel so small and afraid. You broke into a run, turning around the corner and up the stairs, holding your breasts so they wouldn’t slap. God knows that is the last need you needed. A sore chest from-
Hands wrapped around your waist, pulling you into something solid, then pinning you against the wall. You’d only made it to the bottom of the stairs when he caught you. He placed a firm hand between your shoulder blades, snatching one of your hands, twisting it behind you. You let out a mix between a gasp and a moan as he growls in your ear.
“You’ve got some nerve,” he trailed a hand across your back, down your side and then to the front of your crotch, lightly teasing the outside of your lips. “Were your hoping I wouldn’t be home? Thought you could take what you wanted and then leave, thief?”
     “I’m not a-”
“Don’t deny it. Do you know who I am?” Abbacchio presses into you, lips brushing against the crook of your neck.
     “N-no.”
“So, you don’t know you’re stealing from an officer? And poorly, at that.”
     “Uh-no.”
“Tch, pathetic. What? Did you decide to get off while you were here? Thought you’d have time?”
“This is an abuse of power,” you say shakily. He laughs lowly.
“No. This is an abuse of power,” he grabs your other hand, pinning them to your lower back. You hear the clinking of metal and then a cold around your wrist. Instinctively, you tried to move; to escape, but he was too strong, pushing harder into you as a warning. You’re trapped now, there was no way to get out of this. What was your safe word again?
Leone’s hand returns to your vagina, from the other side this time, groping your ass cheek on the way down. You hadn’t even realized how wet you were until you heard the squelch of his finger pressing into you lightly. He chuckles again, pulling his finger back, putting it in his mouth. He hums at the taste.
“What a tasty thing you are, thief. Is this what you wanted? To be bound and fucked? What a whore.” He turns you around, quickly lifting you up over his shoulder. You kick your legs for a bit, but soon discover that it’s pointless. He’s going to do whatever he wants with you and you fucking love it.
He walks into the living room, stopping at the arm of your couch, setting you down and then flipping you around, pushing you over it so your ass is in the air. You hear some shuffling behind you, then in mere seconds, his fingers are back on your slick entrance sliding up and down, putting extra attention in to your little bundle of nerves, pushing harder against your clit. Occasionally, he changes the direction, keeping his rough fingers on your bud, swiping back and forth before returning to your wet, needy hole.
You moan loudly, pushing back against him. Your moan is met with a firm smack against your plush cheeks. Abbacchio wraps his hand in your hair, pulling you up so your back arches.
“Do that again,” he growls. You furrow your brows and are about to say something when you feel something large against your entrance. It’s cold, plasticy. He’s not going to-
Your thought is cut off by the thing pushing into you, making you mewl. The tip goes in, but then he pulls it out, only to push it back in, deeper. The process repeats until what you now know is a long dildo is almost fully in you. Your face is red and your scalp sore from how long he’s been holding you there. He lets go, letting you flop to the soft cushions.
He moves to your side, bringing the dildo to your lips. You open your mouth willingly, eyes rolling back at the taste of yourself on it. Abbacchio mumbles something about you being a whore, but you’re not sure, not that you’d mind. At this point, it was well past being confirmed. He smacks your ass again, then gropes it which makes you jerk forward, taking just a little bit more of it in your mouth. His hand continue to come down on your cheeks until they’re red and there’s a visible bulge in your throat.
The dildo is removed from your throat far too soon, a string of drool still connects you to it. You pant, barely calling out his name when he walks behind you, tossing the pink thing away. The sound of his clothes coming off is unmistakable. You’re already so out of energy, but there’s something in you that never wants this to end. He rubs his thumb down your slick again.
“Is this what you wanted, puttana?” You whine, nodding your head. “I better make this worth your while, then, shouldn’t I?”
      You nod again. “Please.”
You feel the tip of his cock tease your entrance. “Please what?”
“Please~ah. Please fuck meee~” He chuckles darkly, then slams his length into you in one quick motion. You scream, voice cracking. His hands wrap around your handcuffs, using them as a handle while he pounds into you, pulling out completely, then filling you again. Eventually, his thrusts are so powerful that he’s using your own momentum to fuck you.
You’re not aware of what you’re saying, but you know words are coming out of your mouth, babbling like an idiot as he fucks out every brain cell you have. Abbacchio hears every word, though. And he loves it.
“Ah! Yes, yes, yes. Fuck me, please. Oh, don’t stop. God YES, don’t stop! Abbacchio, ~uuuh.~ Leone!” Fuck, he was getting close. All he wanted to do right now was fill your walls with his seed. He groaned. Thinking of our cum dripping out of you drove him insane. He let go of the handcuffs, doubling over you, picking up the pace of his hips.
The feeling of his cock pounding into your walls over and over and over again quickly drove you over the edge, orgasm washing over you in a white sheet. Your walls spammed down on Abbacchio, clamping down on him tightly, your juices flooding over the side and down his leg sent him flying into his own release, spilling into you. The combined feeling of your cum and his leaking out of you had both of your heads spinning.
To him, it was everything he imagined it would be. He pulled out, breathless at the sight, not even realizing he was moaning at it. Your handcuffs were undone, not that you noticed. You were too fucked out at this point. After he briefly cleaned you up with a warm towel, he pulled you into his arms, keeping you close to him while you relaxed on the couch, eyes fluttering closed.
Guilt started to settle in his chest as he kissed your forehead.
“You’re on the pill, right?” He asked, trying to hide his concern.
“IUD, but yeah. Don’t worry about it.” You felt him relax as you said that. You opened your eyes a crack, then laughed.
     “What?”
“The curtains were open,” you laughed dreamily. Leone looks over and sure enough, your curtains were wide open and the window was open just a crack.
“Shit.” He grumbled. He was never going to hear the end of this.

is it weird that I can't even look at their pics right now (seb and chris) because I can't help but feel icky and disappointed? the recent evens reminded me that they are truly two rich and privileged white men who are so dumb just cos they wanna get some. I'm out. Maybe in a year or so I'll check what their projects are. maybe never. I just can't right now. what a shame.
Okay guys, I’ve been debating over whether or not to “open my big mouth” about this (as one anon so sweetly put it once), but I’ve been getting quite a lot of messages like this one and I think I do want to share a few thoughts with you all. I’m going to put them under the cut because this is a long one, and I don’t want to clog up everyone’s dash ❤️
First of all, let me just make it clear that I am fully aware of the severity of this pandemic, especially in some places, including in the US, and that I am in no way trying to make light of any of it or undermine how serious this situation is for a lot of people around the globe right now, many of you included. It’s a terrible situation, and it’s far from over. I’m also not aiming to be an apologist for the bad decisions of privileged white males just because I have a crush on them, because that idea is abhorrent to me, but I’m aware some of you might still feel like I am, and that’s your right.
Having said all that, I am getting a bit worried about all the posts I’ve seen about how people are angry and disillusioned with Sebastian and Chris’s behaviour. I’m not trying to invalidate your disappointment, because it’s totally fair to wish they’d made different decisions, more akin to the decisions you yourself presumably would have made. And if that disappointment goes deep enough then it is absolutely fair if you want to unstan them and stop following or supporting them (that does not extend to sending them hate though, that is not in any way acceptable, no matter how disappointed we are).
But, as anon rightfully points out, the fact of the matter is that they are privileged white male celebrities. This is not news. They (especially Chris) have been successful celebrities for a long, long time, and with celebrity come certain privileges. They can afford massive houses in LA and big apartments in expensive areas in New York City, for instance. They get to go to cool parties, they get free stuff, everyone kisses their ass. They get paid exorbitant amounts of money (Chris much more so than Seb of course) that bear no direct relation to their work and responsibilities anymore, at this point.
And that’s not to say they don’t work hard, they do - but so do most of us, and we’re not getting paid nearly as much as them. It’s inherently unfair, but that’s what celebrity culture (and capitalism) are. Now, I’m not saying everyone has to blindly accept the status quo and just ignore how unfair it all is – far from it. In some ways, I wish more people would denounce celebrity culture, because it is in some senses terribly toxic and unfair. But listen, if you want to stan celebrities because it brings you some joy in this fucked up world, then I think that’s also perfectly understandable. That’s what I’m doing too. And to stan celebs (at least of the calibre of Chris and Seb) we need them to be famous, otherwise we wouldn’t even know them and we would get no content to consume. They are famous because they are in Hollywood movies, and they are in Hollywood movies because they play the Hollywood game - to some extent, at least. Playing the Hollywood game means everything from flying all over the world for movie premieres and leaving a huge carbon footprint, to going to glitzy parties where there a are lots or questionable people present, to “lying” in interviews because of contractual obligations - and sometimes it also means playing along with fake PR rumours or relationships, even if it’s bad PR.
I know people are worried about Chris, and especially Seb, being “bought” by Hollywood and its money and temptations, and losing his integrity and that he won’t be that sweet, soft-spoken, well-read boy who loves his mom anymore. I personally believe that so far, both Seb and Chris have managed to maintain an impressive level of integrity throughout it all, and I’m still hopeful that that isn’t going to change (much).
But it’s not realistic to have the same expectations for them you would have for your loved ones for instance, because they’re not. We have zero relationship to them as people, and they owe us nothing. They give us movies and pictures of their pretty faces, and occasionally good advice or lovely hugs at comic cons, but that’s all we’re gonna get from them. They are not our friends or potential partners. They’re human of course, and in that sense just like you and me, meaning they have feelings and thoughts and a right to privacy and they make mistakes, but their circumstances are wildly different from most of ours. They’re surrounded by the Hollywood circus. They are PART of the Hollywood circus, because they’re actors and if you want to be a successful movie actor you have to play the game to some extent. Sebastian cannot be expected to be home all the time and decline going to parties because he prefers staying in with a good book even if he did prefer that, because that way he’d never be noticed by the people who matter, and who could get him where he wants to be. He said it himself, he’s an ambitious guy. He wants bigger roles, bigger challenges. And he’s not going to get them if he doesn’t do some annoying, dumb shit sometimes, unfortunately.
In my view, that doesn’t make him a bad person who doesn’t care about anyone but himself, but it does make him a privileged human. Being a privileged human also entails some responsibilities, though – if you don’t want to become corrupt, you have to make sure you also use your privilege for good. And in my opinion, both Sebastian and Chris do that. They use their voice and their money to help people less fortunate than them. That’s part of that integrity I was talking about. Some of you may disagree, and that’s fine, but this is how I view it.
As for everyone who is upset with them for traveling to Europe during a pandemic and not wearing a mask in public: I completely understand your frustration, and I am frustrated too. This is literally a deadly virus and it has to be taken very seriously, and unfortunately, they’re not taking it very seriously right now, and that kind of sucks. But the truth is, neither of them are breaking any rules and neither of them is being more callous than the majority of people in the countries they’ve been seen in are. The situation in most of Europe is stabilising (not everywhere, and the UK isn’t doing all that great to be fair), and governments are reopening their countries and facilities. Wearing a mask in the street is not mandatory in either Spain or the UK, except for in specific situations such as public transport or if you’re in certain professions. The rules here are different from those in New York etc. because they have been adapted to how each country is faring.
I live in the Netherlands, and no one here is wearing a mask in the street, not even in the hospital or at the doctor’s, and yet the situation continues to stabilise (I hope to god it stays that way, but that of course remains to be seen). From my friends in Spain and the UK I have heard the situation is much the same. Yes, Sebastian is acting differently from how he did in New York, but he’s in different circumstances too, so that makes sense. Moreover, both Chris and Seb will have been tested before traveling, because they’re privileged celebrities who have access to testing even where lots of normal folks unfortunately don’t.
Now, I’m not saying both guys shouldn’t just have stayed put and not left the country (especially a country where the virus is still rampant), because they should have, and they’re both dumbasses for not doing so. I am definitely disappointed that they’re not being smarter and more considerate about this, but I recognise that my disappointment in part stems from the fact that I put them on a pedestal that I shouldn’t have put them on in the first place. And I know a lot of you are mad at them for flying to Europe “just to get some”, but that is disregarding the fact that both Sebastian’s holiday and Chris’s trip to London seem to be at least partially for PR reasons, most likely pushed and arranged by their agency. The exact extent of how much of it is PR is still a little unclear to me at the moment, but I think it’s fair to assert at this point that they did not just fly to Europe to “get some.”
I know this is ridiculously long, but I have been thinking about all of this a lot these past few days and wanted to get those thoughts out! I hope most of you can understand where I’m coming from here. Love you guys ❤️

"Dance with me" Lucie/Jesse and Christopher/Grace short story!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Blackthorn siblings were on their way to the Institute. At Lucie's request, her family decided that today's ball would be a celebration for Jesse's return to life.
Jesse himself felt happy that Lucie had that idea,it probably meant he was special to her, perhaps? One could always dream. But that didn't meant he wasn't nervous.
He had been a ghost for quite some time, and he never danced with anyone during his time as a ghost. The thought of dancing with Lucie today really scared him.
Not that he would ever admit it. He was going to become a real Shadowhunter soon. A warrior trained to slain demons in the dead of night. Why would dancing with a stunning,5'4 girl with blue eyes scare him?
They were inside the carriage. Grace was there, looking at him, trying to understand his expression.
-Is something the matter Jesse? You seem awfully worried. Do you wish to return? We don't have to go if you don't feel like going.-Grace said.
Jesse smiled at his sister. Grace meant well,he knew that. But he had to go,for Lucie.
-I am perfectly fine,Grace. It is just that...It has been many years since i last danced with a lady. Actually, the last time was when mother taught us how to dance, remember that?-Jesse said.
Grace laughed.
-I do. We were horrible.-Grace said.
Jesse shook his head.
-Don't lie to make me feel good about myself. I was a true disaster, but you were always perfect in dancing. I'm afraid that i'm still a disaster.-Jesse said.
Grace blinked. Her expression changed quite softly.
-Is that the problem? Are you afraid you will embarrass Lucie in front of the Enclave?-Grace asked.
-Not really. I'm afraid i will embarrass myself in front of Lucie.-Jesse said.
-Nonsense Jesse. I am absolutely sure Lucie will be delighted to dance with you, even if you turn out to have two left feet.-Grace said.
Jesse only nodded. Grace had a weird way to encourage him. But she had a point. Perhaps he would turn out to be terrible at dancing, but at least he would be able to share a special moment with Lucie.
And that was more than enough for him.
Meanwhile
-Lucie,can you please stop staring at the door? You are beginning to vex me.-Cordelia said,a little impatient.
Lucie could not help but keep looking at the door. The ball had been happening for at least 30 minutes now,and still no sign of Jesse.
He was taking a little longer than expected. She just wanted him to be there already.
-Why has he not arrived yet!? I can't keep dancing with all these gentlemen! I need to be free to dance with Jesse when he shows up!-Lucie said.
-I know you want that Lu,but is not like you can refuse a dance. Perhaps if you keep dancing with Thomas? I'm sure he won't mind if you leave him when Jesse shows up.-Cordelia said.
Lucie saw Thomas dancing with Catherine Townsend, she was smiling, and Tom was as well. At least he was enjoying himself.
-I cannot do that. My arms won't survive dancing with Thomas all night.-Lucie said.
Cordelia laughed. But Lucie was being serious. Thomas was so much taller than her. It was hard to keep her arms in his shoulders all the time.
She was beginning to feel nervous. The whole idea for this ball was because of Jesse. He needed to be there with her.
-He will come! You don't need to fret over this. A little bit of patience would do you good.-Cordelia said.
James approached them,looking entertained.
-Daisy,shall we dance? I'm sure Lucie wishes to be alone as she longs for Jesse Blackthorn's presence.-James said, grinning.
Lucie was about to say a word that a lady should never pronounce, but her attention was at the door.
A boy and a girl had just entered. The boy was fully dressed in black,he looked around the ballroom,as if everything was new to him.
The girl beside him was just the opposite. She was dressed in white, and the ballroom was no surprise to her.
Jesse and Grace. They were finally there.
Lucie ignored James and went in their direction, she was almost running.
She stopped. Her parents were there, talking to them. So much for thinking that she could just go and talk to him right away.
-Finally. Lucie prepared this ballroom just for you,Jesse Blackthorn. I was beginning to feel you would not come.-Will said.
-Pardon our delay. Chiswick House is quite far from here, and our carriage is not as fast as it once was.-Jesse said.
-Don't scare him,Will. You are not late at all! The ball has barely begun. Have fun,it is all we ask of you.-Tessa said.
-Of course. And thank you.-Jesse said,as Grace only nodded.
She was not in the best of terms with the Herondales, but that would change eventually.
-Lucie is coming here,Jesse. I'll let you talk to her in private.-Grace said, leaving Jesse's side.
As soon as she did,one of Jesse's cousins,Christopher Lightwood, asked to dance with her,and Grace accepted, smiling.
Jesse raised his eyebrows. Did Grace actually seemed happy? It was quite unexpected for him to see that. Grace always considered balls to be simply a task that had to be done.
-By the Angel Jesse! I was nearly losing my mind! I thought you had forgotten about this!-Lucie said.
-I would never do that. I know that you prepared all of this because of me. Your father made that very clear just now.-Jesse said, smiling.
Lucie was scandalized.
-Oh goodness! Why would he!? That is so vexing! Forgive me Jesse!-Lucie said.
-You didn't do anything wrong. And i should be thanking you,as a matter of fact. No one ever did something like this for me before. You are always doing big things for me,have you realized that? First you bring me back to life, then you stand up for me against the Clave, and now this ball. Do i really deserve all of this?-Jesse asked.
Lucie could not help but smile after hearing his words.
-Of course you do! You are worth every effort i assure you!-Lucie said.
Jesse got closer to her, their hands almost touching.
-How can i make it up to you?-Jesse asked.
Lucie was really hoping he would say that.
-I thought you would never ask. Dance with me.-She said.
Jesse took her hands, and they began to dance.
Meanwhile
-Would you like to dance with me,Grace?-Christopher asked.
Grace looked at Christopher. He seemed quite nervous, his lavender eyes were studying her expression,as if he was trying to see if she was going to decline or accept.
A lady could never decline a gentleman's request for a dance. But it wasn't like Grace was planning to decline anyway.
-Of course Christopher.-Grace said. It would be good for her,and Jesse needed his moment with Lucie. Grace knew that she was the only one who could make her brother truly happy.
They began to dance,he had one hand at her waist, and the other held her hand.
-I am so glad that you came. I was afraid we wouldn't be able to talk tonight.-Christopher said.
Grace knew why he thought that. After she revealed the use of her powers on James, most of the Merry Thieves were trying to avoid her. James and Thomas still were polite to her,and Matthew was ignoring her completely, but that was no surprise to Grace.
What truly were a surprise to Grace was the fact that Christopher did not gave up of their friendship after the whole "control over James" situation. Obviously he was not pleased by her actions. But he said that he understood the reasons she had.
And that was enough for Grace to sympathize with him.
-I wouldn't miss this. It is very important to Jesse, and i had to be here with him. I also wanted to see you as well.-Grace said.
-I am flattered. And you look absolutely stunning. I am nearly breathless.-Christopher said.
Grace had a weak smile in her face. She wasn't really sure if Christopher was any good at flirting, but he seemed to have some sort of talent.
-Thank you Chris. I wasn't aware of your skill with words. Have you been reading about how to please ladies instead of science?-Grace asked.
-Not exactly. I told Matthew that there was a girl i wanted to impress today,so he gave me some advice, and dancing lessons. Stepping in your toes would be awful.-Christopher said.
-Is that so? Well how very nice of you. Have you impressed her yet? I am sure she will be delighted.-Grace said.
Christopher seemed really confused.
-Hm,i believe you misunderstood me? I was trying to impress you,Grace, not some random girl of the Enclave.-Christopher said.
Grace almost laughed.
-I knew that. Do they know about us?-Grace asked.
-Not yet. But i had plans of revealing to them today. That is,if you are impressed? I still haven't smashed your toes like potatoes.-Christopher said.
-I am impressed. But you always manage to impress me in different ways,so i am used to it.-Grace said.
-That is great! Really good,by the way,my father plans on inviting you and Jesse for dinner tomorrow. Will you accept it?-Christopher asked.
She would, but not really for the whole family thing. If she could be with Christopher, she would accept almost anything, even going out to kill demons.
-I surely will. Perhaps you can even show me something new at your lab?-Grace suggested.
Christopher smiled. Grace was always surprising him.
-I would love that.-He said.
Grace gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, and Christopher blushed immediately. He was so adorable, maybe that was the reason she liked him so much.
As they danced, far from them,Lucie was finally dancing with Jesse.
It had been a recurring dream, being in the ballroom with him. In her dreams, the ballroom was empty, and the melody was in the air. They danced together as everything fell apart, but nothing could stop them.
But that was the real thing. She could feel Jesse's hand on her hand, now his skin felt soft and warm, and not deadly cold as it once were.
She could feel Jesse's body close to hers, his breathing, his heart beating,he was alive and with her,and she could ask for nothing else.
And he was such a good dancer. She was not expecting him to be bad,but certainly was not expecting him to be that good either.
-Are you sure you never danced as a ghost? Perhaps you had an understanding with a ghost lady that i could not see,and you danced with her all the time.-Lucie said, smiling.
Jesse blushed.
-Are you trying to say that i am good? Because that was definitely going to be a lie if you had said it.-Jesse said.
-You are good! I don't have any reasons to lie about this.-Lucie said.
-Don't try to fool me. I practiced with Grace so that you could have a good partner. I suppose it didn't went as good as i had hoped.-Jesse said.
-Stop that Jesse! You are not a bad dancer! It is almost the same way i dreamed about.-Lucie said.
But she was not supposed to say that. Why would she reveal such thing to Jesse? If only there was a hole she could put her head into...
-You dreamed about dancing with me? Well i am glad to know i wasn't the only one.-Jesse said.
Lucie looked at him.
-Are you serious? You wanted this too?-She asked.
-More than you can imagine! I was so nervous that i would hurt you while we danced. I wanted this moment to be special for the both of us. After all,it is our first dance.-Jesse said.
Lucie smiled,a smile brighter then the sun. Jesse felt great joy when she smiled.
-It may be our first. But i'm sure that are many others yet to come.-Lucie said.
-As long as i am dancing with you, everything will be just perfect.-Jesse said.
He leaned in to kiss her. Their lips touched, and Lucie felt as if she could fly with so much happiness.
And they didn't care if the others were staring, that was their moment. The first of many dances,of a love that would be their first and their last.
As that very kiss was meant to happen, they were meant to be together.
And they would.
