To be perfectly honest, Tavina is a character that middle school me came up with for a novel (The full name is Tavina Arax Vale which. Is the most middle school of OC names truly.) Nowadays it's like: I'm Tavina and I write so!

9: Favourite OC?

aughhhh... I love so many of my ocs so very dearly and it changes all the time. At the moment it's Rudy (the Party Clown).

10: OC you most struggled to make?

SIX. I am STILL struggling to figure out Six. He's a vortex of "who are you???" in my brain. I know I need him in the story and I can describe his effect on the others but I don't KNOW HIM. He keeps CHANGING on me. Even the picrews are out of date.

12: Which story took the most research?

Caravaggio story (based on the mamluks in 1250s Egypt and Mongolia) took the most difficult research. There's not a lot of resources on day-to-day life in 1250s Egypt. But the story that took the most time in research has been Clown World, for which I have read three full books and a bajillion articles and watched a documentary and a few short clown performances.

13. Which story has the most lore?

Probably Clown World...? But Strange Redemption comes really close. If you don't count details about characters that will be written into the story, Clown World definitely has the most lore. LOTS of worldbuilding, LOTS of backstories that will never be fully explained in-universe.

20: What story are you the proudest of? Why?

The Strange Redemption of Thaddeus Thawne. It's... deeply personal... it's cathartic for me and for others... from what I'm told, it often does what it's intended to do, which is let people experience Thad's perspective but not get lost in it, to get them thinking about healing and trauma and what it is to be alive... I'm proud of the story for what it is, even though I can see all the flaws. I'm proud of its slow, careful pacing and the way I write Thad's mind.

Also, Strange Redemption is my longest work and my first public work, AND I managed to publish it weekly and biweekly for two straight years while in college. And I'm sticking with it now even though it's like pulling teeth at the moment. I'm proud of myself for the writing of it.

In no particular order, Howl's Moving Castle and Archer's Goon by Diana Wynne Jones; The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman; Watership Down by Richard Adams; All Systems Red and the rest of the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells; Going Postal by Terry Pratchett; and The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison.

Famous Last Words by MCR (hard rock, but it means a lot to me (it's about brotherly love!) and it's stuck in my head); Something Good by Alt-J (sweetly-sung melody about distracting oneself with self-destructive behaviors); Life Itself by Glass Animals (I associate it with Clown World!); and The Ballad of Bull Ramos by The Mountain Goats (from a concept album about pro wrestling, this song is about what the narrator imagines as the best possible old age... it's so strangely sweet...... it's about staying tough but having the freedom to help out his friends.....)

Good! <3 I'm visiting a friend right now, and it's been lovely. I'm tired right now, but so content.

Overall, though, to be honest, I'm increasingly anxious about the future... it's my senior year of college, and I don't know what I'm doing after that. God will provide, but it's exceedingly nervewracking not to know how. So I'm doing good, objectively! I have an overabundance of good things in my life and even a good amount of security and stability! But I think maybe the stability itself is making me fall apart a bit 😭

First mood of Keefe Sencen: get this man some found family right the fuck now. Idk! I think that this song is such a good representation of Keefe's mentality on stuff.

He thinks of himself as broken and unlovable, and pushes the people who care most about him away. He doesn't recognize his achievements and what he's done and who he's around because of the way he's been raised.

He doesn't know how to love or be loved because he believes himself to be alone.

So I think that's why the last line of this song, the 'who said you're on your own?' is so important. He deserves to be loved more than anything.

Just a nice little comfort that he's getting in these later canon books for ya.

It's really important to me that we acknowledge that Keefe does have a side to him that's less morally correct. I think he deserves to be selfish and anything that says he isn't fucked up is so wrong.

Windows 11 is also just, weirdly slower and harder to use than 10. Like I'm sure it's as speedy as 10 but I've noticed a number of things that 11 just does worse.

The boot time in 11 is noticeably slower than 10's. This might be hardware dependant but my laptop is most definitely more powerful than my PC, why is it booting up slower.

The context menus in 11 are unintuitive and takes more time to use. 10 gave you everything you needed and then some right then and there. 11 feels the need to go "Nono, these are all the ones you need!" and gives you a curated context menu that may or may not have something you need. Then if you don't, you can click a show more button and it GIVES you 10's context menu! It's like they knew 10's was objectively better, but still felt like replacing it with an inferior version and make it a selling point!

File Explorer, while just being a reskinned version of 10's, is worse than 10's in every way. Not only does it try and push cloud saving on you, a file storage method less reliable than local storage, but it removed features that were a blessing on 10! Why can't I drag files through the address bar anymore? Why out of everything to remove, did you remove a genuinely useful feature?

OneDrive. Just in general. I get it, cloud saving is useful and Microsoft not only owns OneDrive but also Windows. Put two and two together. Easy millions of customers. The problem lies when you incorporate it so much into Windows that it's actively bothersome. It tries to make you use it every step of the way until you either give up and use it, or disable it fully (cuz of course Microsoft would make it hard and un-user friendly on purpose). And then if you try and use it without paying for more storage, you're only given 5GB to use. Now, if you're tech savvy like me, you would know 5GB was a lot in the 90s. That today could be majority filled by a few music albums. It is a pitiful amount of storage to give for free, and they expect you to be happy with it or pay a subscription for more. For every fault Google has, they at least give you the courtesy of 15 GB across your account. 5GB on a cloud service that you feel pressured to use on a device you plan to use for countless years is absurd.

THE SETUP OH MY GOD SETTING UP WINDOWS 11 IS A HELL I DO NOT WISH ON ANYONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW ANY BETTER. Not only does it require you to be online for the entire setup, but it outright forces you to use your Microsoft account to continue the setup. Local accounts are a thing of the past I guess! Granny might not know what a Microsoft account is but she better learn quick because she's not gonna be able to use the flashy new laptop her grandchild got her until she does! There's a way to bypass this but it's so hidden away and unfriendly to the user that it feels like your only option is the Microsoft account. Then it gives you all these different options that either do nothing or are just methods of nabbing your data. Then you're free to the desktop except NOT REALLY because if you skipped anything, every so often it'll bother you in a full screen banner asking you to "Finish setting up pwetty pwease :3" and it will keep bothering you about it until you either do it or turn off a very specific, hidden away setting in the settings. It's fucking awful and objectively the worst Windows OS to setup. How do you fuck up setting up an OS?! You had this down pat in the 90s and 2000s!!!

Windows 11 as a whole is style over substance. If you completely ignore under the hood differences, Windows 11 at its core is Windows 10 reskinned. But everything now has these flashy new animations and rounded corners and translucency! It's like Vista and 7 again! EXCEPT IT ISN'T BECAUSE VISTA AND 7 DIDN'T SACRIFICE USABILITY AND PERFORMANCE FOR GLASS WINDOWS AND FADE IN & OUT (ok well Vista did but 7 improved upon it). Trying to resize a window from a corner is so needlessly difficult because of the rounded corners making it unclear where the hitbox actually is, and the animations for the start menu and everything else is so clunky and unneeded. Is it cool the first time? Yes, it is. Is it cool the 1,037,028th time when I just want to quickly open something? FUCKING NO! ITS BOTHERSOME.

Listen, as a tech person who is not only savvy in the medium to an extent but also enjoys and cares for said medium, I'm well aware most of these issues are things the average user wouldn't give two shits about. But the reason why I complain is because average users shouldn't be subject to such hell also. In the process of trying to make a more user friendly Windows, Microsoft made a Windows so user unfriendly and counterintuitive that it's actively frustrating to use if you don't know the right things to do to make it not frustrating. And with Microsoft's hyperfixation on AI bleeding into 11 as a whole with Copilot, it's only getting worse.

I can only hope the next Windows OS is a better experience across the board to use for both the average customer and the tech savvy, and given The Cycle™, that is a likely probability. But also given Microsoft and Windows 11's state right now, it wouldn't surprise me if the next OS is just as bad, if not worse.

All this to say: Linux users? I understand you now.

It's so used to having a forced smile that whenever it talks to anyone, even if it's not face-to-face, Matt ends up putting on a forced smile

Matt usually listens to music as background noise. This usually consists of metal, screamo, breakcore, and/or the most drilling sounds known to men. If you ever asked it its favorite song, Matt would say "the one with the screaming :)"

- mostly just taylor swift, she makes up 70+% of my listening probably haha and if i had to pick a favorite genre of hers it would be the folkmore style

- some other pop, like olivia rodrigo and conan gray and lorde & some doja cat but i'm not a huge fan of doja's lyrics

- lyrics are really big for me, so is having a pretty voice and nice melodies

last song: in the wind by lord huron. the whole album is perfect for roadtrips, and this song especially brings me peace.

last movie: i think the last full movie i watched was the turning, which came out early in the year 2020. i saw it in theaters, but didn't fully understand the ending and was puzzled about it for a whole year til i watched it again. after buying it on amazon prime, doing some research, and paying super close attention, i am able to better interpret it. to the classic horror fans, it probably isn't a fun watch, but to those who enjoy analyzing films, i'd recommend it. the actors did a phenomenal job in portraying their characters, as well as the wild range of emotions i'd be feeling if i were in that house too.

last show: cw's supernatural. i know its a common one for tumblr, but it does bring me a lot of joy. the actors are incredible and care a lot about their fans. the show itself has always been fun to watch, with its fair share of heartbreaking moments.

sweet, spicy, or savory: definitely sweet. i love chocolate and anything else sweet. savory is a close second, but nothing beats a good brownie.

craving: i think i'm most craving a glass of water and some sleep right now. i've been pretty busy today and could use some time to recharge. honestly, i could also use a hug, but i've got my dog next to me, so i'll hug him in a minute. :)

tea or coffee: i love both, but coffee takes the cake. i think i've been drinking it too long for it to wake me up anymore, but i still love the taste. i'm also a sucker for the aesthetic of a coffee next to my study notes on a quiet morning, especially in the library.

currently working on: i've been writing and researching for a novel idea that recently came to me. ever since i was younger, i have written on and off the years with different ideas. after a long writer's block, i've finally thought of something new! additionally, i am starting a veterinary assistance program through penn foster. certain challenges led me to drop out of university this past semester, but i still want to learn and be able to work with animals. technically, i'm still in school, just the less traditional kind :)

hi! emi here! about what charts and popularity mean (in response to the anon who was wondering about Taylor's listeners). (I'm not an expert, just a dork). also I wanted to say that I don't think charts and popularity are the only nor the most interesting way to measure an artist's quality, talent, or importance!

1. First, consider what the thing you're looking at tells you. What information is actually being conveyed by a song or album's place in the charts? It's not just "we all agree Ariana is the best right now." They have to be using some criteria to measure-- what are those criteria? And what do the placements describe?

-- ex. A few weeks ago, folklore was on the Spotify weekly album chart, meaning it was in the top 50 overall streamed album, but no singles from that album were on the weekly song chart; from this you can roughly conclude that the streaming public was listening more equally to the album as a whole rather than one or two singles. Why might that be? What aspects of folklore as an album encourage listening to it in full, or why might opinions be so split on its best tracks?

2. Spotify charts: you have to check what data each chart actually tracks: always only streams, always only Spotify.

-- The US top 50 chart tracks /daily most played tracks/. The viral 50 chart tracks the /tracks growing most quickly/uncharacteristically./ The Top Songs Spotify chart tracks /weekly streams/.

-- Spotify might be the most popular streaming service, but Apple music tracks their own charts too (it's just more work to find them), I'm sure others do as well.

3. This is in contrast to a chart system like billboard, which tracks sales, streams, and airplay in some algorithmic compilation.

-- it's actually really easy to find the raw data on these metrics, just a pain in the ass to interpret, which is why billboard does it for yoy. (This is how it's possible to find most watched YouTube music videos, which is absolutely fascinating always).

-- billboard lists also all track /weekly/, not daily listening. A popular new release totally makes sense why it would rocket to the top of a daily list and overtake a previously released song.

4. You have to consider what populations listening habits you're measuring. The billboard charts are going to cast the widest net, getting all the people who still buy music and listen to the radio as well as people who are streaming. Spotify charts are going to be more niche, catching what I would imagine to be a younger age group, one that is more into music and customizing what they listen to.

-- I am willing to bet that your average Spotify listener has a more obscure and/or eclectic music taste-- so the Spotify charts might underrepresent the most streamed/sold/played artists (like Taylor or Katy) and overrepresent fads like sea shanties (seriously, read the viral 50 rn) or glass animals. It's actually pretty impressive and unusual that Taylor is usually on at least one chart every time I go to check.

5. Overall success and popularity is very poorly measured by a weekly or daily 50 song/album chart. Taylor's music generally being on Spotify charts day to day and week to week is really impressive, especially when she hasn't just released something. What is /more/ impressive, unusual, and a true testament to her popularity is its endurance. 1989 and Lover still being on the billboard album charts is impressive, as is Fearless, Reputation, and Red re-entering. That level of excitement and importance is a better measure of popularity :)

6. Taylor is currently 5th on the billboard artist charts, right under Ariana. That's just a little extra tidbit for you.

7. Isn't it fun how you can learn qualitative things from quantitative lists? I think learning about how people listen to artists and why is so cool!! (Full albums? Curiosity about a trend? Huge earworm? Exciting debut? The more interesting questions are always "why is that placed there?).

8. Tl;dr: Taylor is as popular as you think she is. When reading data and charts it's good to know what information you're actually getting.

Mello games and you play Sims 4 so sitting next to each other on your individual consoles would be how the two of you spend lazy days and quiet evenings together. You have a varied taste in music which is actually quite dark (Lana Del Ray) and inspiring/iconic (Lady Gaga) whereas Mello just likes heavy music which, when played at peak volume, thrums through your rib cage and echoes in your heartbeat. Between Mello’s explosive temper and your depression and anxiety, things can be tense. He snaps at you sometimes without thinking and you may retreat from him all together as a result. Show him your latest memes, though, and he’ll huff a reluctant laugh through his nose, breaking the ice. He’s not big on apologies even when he’s wrong but even so he’ll silently apologise in only one way: he’ll give (not just share) you one of his most expensive, preferred chocolate bars. Overall, he’d be one of your biggest comforts and vice versa. Just knowing that he’s watching the CCTV live of you walking down a dark or isolated street to make sure that you get home okay makes you feel a little warmer. Even when he’s pissed as hell at you or something else, he won’t let you go to bed feeling alone in a bad way. It’d be an explosive kinda love ;) [inappropriate death joke lmao not sorry]

American Horror Story (AHS): Violet Harmon

Violet would adore you. There would be some tensions because she’s quite abrasive (and rightly so, in some cases) but also because you both have depression, though you also have anxiety and you both put up fronts to hide yourselves. That’s likely how you bond - with Violet confessing to you one hot summer’s day that she “hates everything” and the whole situation with her parents. She can rant for hours when you leave her to it, just listening. Sometimes you share a part of yourself. You’re quite a talkative couple, but only in private. If there are people around, it’s obvious you’re together but there’s no set reason that they can see. Vivien and Ben have, generally, never seen their daughter so animated; you only bring good to Violet’s life. You’re both sarcastic and easily annoyed so any arguments are basically just really accurate roasting sessions until one of you hits a nerve (and then it stops because Violet just leaves to go somewhere - you never know where) or you’re both laughing. In this way, there are moments in your relationship that are hard to stomach. Watching mindless TV shows on Netflix and cuddling is a good way to break any ice that lays between you; Violet would make acerbic comments about something the lead has done and you’d listen, always able to tell if something more is under the surface. The similarities between the two of you creates your relationship; you see yourselves in each other and only want to help as best as you can.

The Vampire Diaries (TVD): Damon Salvatore 

Damon would be very protective of you. You don’t like appearing weak but even when you’re down and sobbing on your knees, your body unable to hold you up anymore, Damon’s never thought you looked stronger. It takes strength to show weakness, even when you’re alone. If you ever forgot to take your meds, Damon would stand over you in with a glass of water in one hand and your meds in the other, that passive-aggressive look on his face. He’d watch you take them, arms folded, and then he’d give you a steamy kiss that leaves your toes curling for the rest of the day. Damon pretends to have no feelings because it’s easier and you put up a front. However, because Damon can’t shut off his humanity without forgetting his love for you, so he has to face his humanity which means he begins to feel guilt and everything that’s already there if he wants to feel it, which he doesn’t but… He does eventually. Because of you. You are the good in his life.You have similar defence mechanisms so it’s not unusual for one of you to walk into a room, see the other and immediately say “stop doing that” or “don’t do that” - no one else can tell that Damon is pretending, except you and Stefan. Similarly, it’ll be the brothers who can tell that you’re pretending. The contrast of your long dark hair and your bright blue eyes would be what drew Damon to you and I feel like he’d call you his “little siren” because of that. As such, he comes to understand that it wasn’t Katherine he’s been looking for all this time…

Twilight: Edward Cullen 

You caught Edward’s attention by singing one day. He was just passing by, skipping Biology (blood work) and he heard you singing. He hadn’t meant to tune in to your radio station but sometimes he couldn’t help it. And you did have a lovely voice. He would likely buy some of the same albums that you own so that he could get to know you through music. Over time, he would learn to just intuitively tune in to your radio station and he’d hear your thoughts - this is a promise he would make to himself to not do once you’re friends and then dating and he’d definitely stick to it. Though Edward would do his best to not listen to your thoughts, on your worst days some of them drift through his mind and he’d take your hand tightly and say “Don’t” or “That’s not true.” He’d try so hard to help you; I think, pre-Bella, he also has depression so he’d do his best to help you because he knows what it’s like, and not just because he can hear you.

Yuri!!! On Ice: Victor Nikiforov

Victor would have such a loving relationship with you. Ohh, he’d try so hard to make you smile each and every day. When he’s not on the ice competing or eating way more food than he should be able to consume in one sitting (seriously, where does it go? Does his stomach start in his toes?), he’s curled up with you on the sofa watching something you want to watch on Netflix, Hulu or whatever else you use. He doesn’t mind what you watch, so long as you do it together. You love to shitpost and you love memes, and Victor loves taking pictures of the most obscure things so between the two of you, your followers are well fed! You’re always texting each other memes, jokes and sending pictures to each other with cryptic captions or song lyrics attached, making the other person burst out laughing in strange places like the ice rink or a classroom. You have more of a jokey relationship than a serious one, though that’s in abundance when either of you have depression or anxiety flare up. In any case, bed time is always met with gentle touches, soft smiles and careful reassurances. Even, and most especially, when you’re angry at each other. Love is never so important as it is during the bad times.

Once Upon A Time (OUAT): Regina Mills

It would be really touch and go to date Regina for a while. It would be very challenging and many people, including her and in your darkest times, yourself, would tell you that she’s not worth it. That you’re not worth it. But you’re all wrong. She is so, so worth it. Once she splits from the Evil Queen, once she grows into herself and grows into the Charming family, once she overcomes her abusive childhood and comes to love herself, she is a ray of sunshine and she glows. I’ve always loved and been so proud of Regina, and you would be too. You both put on fronts to protect yourself and you’re both very convincing so a lot of the time, the two of you have to mentally step back and see what the other is really thinking. Luckily, you know each other very well so it’s not hard to see when either of you are feeling especially insecure or unwell. Regina would literally rip her heart in half if it meant saving you, and at times she’s risked her life for you. She lives for your cuddles, especially when her many duties as a mum, a mayor etc. get on top of her and she just needs a break. You bring her back to herself time and again, and she will always do her utmost to return the favour to you. You have a strong, loving relationship underneath it all. It just takes patience and a special bond to be able to see it from the outside.

Game Of Thrones (GOT): Joffrey Baratheon

Joffrey is the most villainous person on this matchup. I was very hesitant to match you with him, I really was, but some of the others on this list are almost as bad. So. I think your personality would have a more positive effect on him. Cersei got her claws as far into him as she could, but even once she tried to reason with him and keep him reined in, he was too far gone for her to be able to help. But you... Mm. I think you’d have a similar impact on him to Margaery. You put on a front to protect yourself and this would be what Joffrey would listen to... to begin with. Once you’re properly courting and Joffrey is able to see what you don’t say; he would soften. He would still kill and be an utterly evil piece of work, but he would exercise more mercy. He would still wrongfully torment Tyrion, but he would draw a line when you start anxiously tugging on his sleeve. He doesn’t cuddle, mocking the action all together, but then one day he walks in on you curled up in bed reading a book and he just can’t resist curling around you, an arm slung over your shoulders to possessively keep you beside him. It would be a tumultuous, dangerous relationship but then... it’s Westeros, what do you expect?
