problems i think a lot of readers (especially young ones) have is taking things at face value, especially if a character is saying it or explaining it - like don't trust them fucks!! and don't trust the narrator either! treat every word like a mystery, a crime scene from the unreliable witness and you're the detective; discover the unwritten, find the innucuous lies and the partial truth, and analyse what isn't spoken.

#ha rants #literature class is important #it is equally important to note what is said and what is not said #and especially who said it compared to who did not #if a character does say something do their actions also follow?#so many people praise certain characters for saying a bunch of good principles but when you analyse their actual actions #you realise its just nonsense #i'm a little mad at n*mj and l*xc okay #and how the fandom eats them up and places a label of righteousness at their feat #when no???????????#n*mj was one of several sect leaders who led the seige okay #and you're telling me he nor the others DIDN'T see how it was like a bunch of non-cultivators #the weak and the old????#yeah #right #okay #for sureeee #(this was edited tags at because i was informed that l*xc was not there and it was l*qr who was there 29.04.24)#(still doesn't mean he didn't passive let it happen and the consequences thereafter)
