You’re serious? I was talking about it all morning. I was telling you to stay away from them and you had the genius idea that getting your hands on a Beast Ball was more valuable than human life!
There’s no room for fickleness in my world. I’m going to make sure you don’t forget this mistake. You’re not even going to think about doing anything like that ever again, kid.
I won't. I'm dense, and selfish, and I'll be careful. And if you want to kill me, that's fine. Just catch me somewhere outside my house.
Maybe Route 4.

so. i've been thinking probably way much about bucky's attachment/abandonment issues bc they're soooo loud to me like he clings to people so hard!!! he wants to be chosen!!! him asking gale "did you miss me?" after spending objectively not that much time apart half joking but half sincere bc he's used to people getting tired of him and leaving so he has to make sure.
And it makes gale saying no to london even more of a Big Deal. and paulina leaving him the morning after even when he asked her to stay!!! and lil kissing him but getting with dye!! and once again feeling rejected in the stalag when gale won't leave with him, won't even entertain the thought of it !! andddd not having anyone writing him letters, possibly not even his family for reasons we don't get to know but probably are a big part of why he has attachment issues
i've already said this but i'll say it again even though he's confident/cocky at times he doesn't... like himself . or has a lot of regard for his own life which we literally see in the show. he was Capital S Suicidal – bc of the stalag obviously but come on he drinks like crazy and gambles and smokes even before things get Really Bad. and the plane wing sceneeeee you don't goad your friend !! not even a random person but a Friend into hitting you if you're a well adjusted individual. And he was ready to give up fr when gale went down. he did not want to bail out with brady!!! AND him risking his eye to get gale a bike (which while yeah crazy yaoi moment . to me also ties into him needing to be wanted/needed so people won't leave him) so yeah clearly not huge on self preservation which at least in my perception is something that stems from self hatred
all of these rejections (even if justified at times) are probably a series of blows to his perception of himself/sense of self and just reaffirm to him in his head that he's not good enough and he is right to expect to be left by the people he loves. and he tries to stop that by clinging as hard as he can and not being expendable/replaceable. but if they do leave he can rationalize it because if everyone leaves him clearly it's his fault, he's the one lacking – which feeds his recklessness and self destructive coping mechanisms even more

I know based on context clues that the conversation Eda and Raine are gonna have is an argument but I’m so in love with the idea of Raine showing up to the Owl House and seeing how much better off Eda’s doing now with the most obvious smug face ever because “I told you she was a good kid and you adore herrrrr.” Like I get that important serious conversations are going to happen but also Raine deserves to be a little smug about this
OH DON'T WORRY I'M PLANNING FOR RAINE TO GET TO BE SMUG DJSJSJ. and also for them to Probably work some shit out, like, after they're done arguing.
potential fic spoilers if anyone cares about those i guess, but. eda just comes in hot with "so luz is crazy" and raine is Immediately put on the defensive like "she is fucking not. don't talk about her that way" while eda's like "oh yeah?? how about YOU don't talk about stuff you know nothing about" and it... escalates from there.
just. hissy cats all the way down. waow.
but they both DO love luz and they're actually not fundamentally opposed in terms of, like, common goals. or what they think is wrong. or how they feel about each other.
....they just need to have a really stupid semantic argument first.

The crisis of the last year with student protests has made even the richest institutions aware of how much of their presumed wealth can be yanked away from them by a donor class who are increasingly inclined to exert their influence and authority in openly oligarchic ways. The obsession with safety—and the contradictions of that obsession—is as much about financial management as anything else. But that also is a wider sociocultural formation: the American upper middle-class is generally an asset class now who think about safety in the same way as universities both because all institutions with asset-based wealth have to and because they personally have to safeguard their assets in the same fashion, and face some of the same risks from liability exposure. [. . .] Moving away from the caretaker era can’t just be a matter of exposing students to risk and dismantling systems that make safety the mandatory product of an intrusive regime of surveillance and correction. If the people in charge inside the university and outside of it aren’t equally exposed to the natural consequences of their actions and decisions, all this means is forcefully communicating to students—or perhaps all young people—their relative powerlessness and vulnerability. It means deciding that the lesson you really want to teach is that it’s bad to be powerless and thus you should strive in life for power and wealth in order to be beyond consequences. Arguably, if the caretaker era and the bystander era were both aligned with a wider social ideology that was broadly shared across a generation, then this in fact the new ethos of our time—that there is no safety but in power, and that where power believes people are not being sufficiently punished for the things that power disdains, it will find a way to make consequences where there have been none.
bleak essay that nonetheless collects a lot of idle thoughts i've had in one place & puts them together with more coherence than i've ever managed

s1 episode 16 thoughts
oh this was an episode that had me on EDGE. and then also laughing because it was so ridiculous. that man grew salamander hands.
"i still don't get it. what does this have to do with us?" "robbing a jewelry store is a federal crime" (dana scully, in the flattest voice you have ever heard) "thanks" <- yeah i did laugh so hard i had to rewind at that point. so what!
mulder greets his old pal by singing his name... never beating the nerd allegations
(and clearly this is normal for them, because his friend says "i hate when you do that" which makes it even funnier)
! MULDER LORE REVEAL ! he had his first case with the FBI at the age of 28! something went terribly wrong because he wouldn't shoot the robber, and the bad guy killed another agent! he has been blaming himself for this for years! and the robber, who was thought to be dead, is somehow back and stalking him!
when scully learns about this, she tells him that she thinks he did the right thing by not taking the shot, but this makes him VERY angry. he slams the door on her, and ran away to watch the dead guy's kid play football. ouch! that's gotta hurt. he tends to be very under control, so seeing him like this was jarring.
then he finds out he's being followed while still at the football game and screams "I'LL GET YOU, YOU BASTARD!" which had to make the kid's parents feel deeply uncomfortable
as if mulder hasn't suffered enough in this episode with the guy who killed his coworker and vowed to kill him coming back, the very same man to whom mulder earlier sang to as a greeting just said that "spooky mulder" is a "liability" and "an embarrassment" to the FBI. at this point in the episode my jaw dropped!
(he doesn't seem to take too much offense to this- instead seeing it as his pal warning him that maybe the guy who is stalking him is in the fbi- but i took deep offense on his behalf!)
the next scene we got was a flashback to the trial of the robber and i wrote "is this lawyer the same woman that played eve in the eve episode" but i don't have any immediate intention of finding out if that is true or not... but wouldn't it be funny if it was.
mulder stops his testimony and screams at the robber that he should "die like an animal, you son of a bitch", to which i wrote in my notes, was "another jaw drop moment"!
i love getting to see the composed character lose it. it's clear that mulder took this very, very personally, and that it haunts him. love to see an insight into the past and love that he looked the same in the flashback but with a slightly different hairstyle.
then medical scully comes into play when she requests the dead guy's records and notices that it seems impossible for him to have died of a heart attack if he was in perfect health a few months before... hmm...
(i love when scully goes Doctor Mode it is one of life's simple pleasures)
mulder was still at work at 10:45 at night in the next scene which is adding fuel to scully's theory that he doesn't have a life lmao
but then the robber breaks in and kills his friend, inflicting even more pain upon mulder, who has really had to deal with a lot, and this can only intensify the guilt he was already facing for not shooting the bad guy so many years earlier. it also shows that he remembers the details of those around him- the ages of the other guy's kids, their hobbies, that this friend was writing a novel, that his wife had died of cancer- all of which haunt him further
(also just evidence of his fantastic memory but this is the Sad edition of that fact)
scully does more doctor detective work: the guy who proclaimed our robber dead lost his license for doing unethical experimentation!
next we had what i wrote in my notes in all caps as a "SCULLY GLASSES MOMENT!" where she was writing her case notes and saying there was NO EVIDENCE to support mulder's theory that this fellow was de-aging himself. but someone was breaking into her apartment! and it was accompanied by eerie latin chanting!!!! oh i was stressed!!! he got away in the nick of time when the evil doctor showed up at her door!!!!
(also noticed she has a little fabric cat hanging on her door <3)
so the doctor gave this robber man salamander hands. mulder seems naturally disgusted by this but scully is in Doctor Mode and finds that fascinating. i find myself somewhere in between the two, laughing at the mental picture.
but the salamander robber stalker man stole the evil doctor's research, and is now bargaining with the US government to sell them the secrets of anti-aging! doctors hate this one man's simple tricks!
(mulder is very angry about this. i sympathize, but also feel that dealing with a salamander murderer de-aging guy is probably one of the less morally dubious things the FBI has gotten up to in its time, so make of that what you will)
scully comes out of the shower with wet hair <3 sopping wet kitten <3
(honestly she needs to move like people keep breaking into her place and it's stressing me tf out)
so now she has to be the bait because the bad guy robber stalker salamander is coming to her friend's recital! and she's nervous so mulder winks at her across the room. ohhhhhh my gosh. oh man. someone hold me.
(and dana scully is the kind of friend who goes to her pal's cello recital <3)
despite the stalking and killing salamander man has done, mulder is insistent on taking this guy alive, which speaks to his moral virtue but also provided foreshadowing for what would happen next: evil salamander hands takes scully's friend hostage thinking mulder won't shoot, but he DOES. and the eerie latin chanting returns while this occurs. more guilt! more guilt! that's what latin chanting is about!
scully is also shot at, and she looks down at her chest, sees a bullet in it, and sighs deeply. which would frankly also be my reaction. turns out she was in 8 layers of kevlar, so she's hurting, but she's okay. but i laughed a lot. ugh. shot at again. another day at the office for scully.
she then tells mulder she's proud of him for shooting that guy knowing about his reservations in the past. it is a full circle moment. scully was proud of him for not shooting all those years ago and now she is proud of him for pulling the trigger. she recognized the growth it took in each of those moments and the sorrow that lies behind mulder's seemingly aloof exterior.
overall, a really great episode!! i enjoyed it in both its seriousness and campiness of a de-aging salamander man being our monster of the week. seeing fox mulder tormented with puns about his name gave us a good look into his past that he seems to keep at a distance, and allowed us to examine his moral qualms with the need to pull the trigger and how he holds onto that Guilt that composes the core of his character. the guilt that compels him to do what he does, devote his life to tracking down extraterrestrials so he can find his sister, that guilt for failing to keep people close to him safe, and that guilt that comes from never being able to fully be in control of a shifting world around you. he Needs to protect and he cannot do that all the time and that eats him alive. a very compelling gentleman to me personally.

My issue is - how would the powers that be at abc even catch on to this? I don't want to count on this even getting on their radar :/
I'm not in the film/TV industry so I'm not a good person to ask but I will say that at least one of the stars of this TV show saw what she said and unfollowed her over it. It's highly likely he told at the very least his other cast members, and also highly likely that other crew and cast members saw that post. The head honchos at ABC might not see it, but the people in charge of hiring and casting for 9-1-1 itself are highly likely to, and that actress has no contract for season seven yet since they haven't even written season seven due to the WGA strike (BTW, SAG-AFTRA is 99% likely to strike at this point and DGA will most likely follow, so we're in it for the long haul, folks). That means there is no legal obligation to hire her again for the next season. And casting directors, producers, and others on a smaller level follow the policy of the overall company. So while I doubt the studio heads of ABC will hear about this, ABC has shown a precedent of zero-tolerance policy for such behavior, and that means that everyone who is on an ABC show is going to follow that precedent, including the people in charge of casting, hiring, and re-hiring for 911.

“You got twenty minutes to make yourself look like something someone would pay to fuck, otherwise, we’re both getting tortured to death in the belly of a fucking bounty hunter ship. If you think you have time to ask me questions, then how about you just take that stupid fucking vibrosword you think you’ve got hidden in your fucking boot and shove it in my kidneys and make Cad Bane’s job that much fucking easier.” Kallus glared balefully at a bottle of age Stewjoni brandy perched high behind the bar, visibly seething. “I’ll only need ten.”

forgot to post this last night but the moment I got out of work I literally took off my shirt and reclined my car seat and laid down and like disassociated and the far next to me was a family of three and the mother looked so concerned (I WAS WEARING A TANK TOP BTW DW) but I literally could no longer be a functioning human being and then I finally rebooted and went for a drive on the highway at 100 mph (do not follow my example please) with my windows down AND WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS IS girlhood is putting your hair up all cute with the slut strands out (taking out two little strands from like a ponytail for ex.) except then they get in your face when you're driving with your windows down so one hand is off the steering wheel literally on the back of your head holding back your hair while you're screaming at the top of the lungs and being a road hazard ❤️ (me last night)

You know, I kind of hope that both the Federation AND the Resistance/codes played a part in Cellbit ending up in that warzone in his youth. I just think it'd be kind of poetic and play into how it's certain that neither side is fully in the right nor terribly moral (though the jury's still out on which is worse, considering there's still too much in the dark about the actions and motivations of both), and put Cellbit into the situation of somehow having worked for/been manipulated by both sides that have played a major part in ruining a major portion of his life.

My official first playthrough (which is going disastrously btw) is a Shadow Dragon rogue, but I got too excited about making Rook the son of Carver Hawke/the Warden and made Liam instead.
He's a mage, because it runs on both sides of the family, and he joined the Grey Wardens against his parents' wishes, because being a little shit also runs in the family.

My plans for this week were to finish one of the reports I have due on Monday/Tuesday, so I could write my fic during Saturday.
Last Tuesday, my left shoulder decided to give me grief (lovely side effect of the mix of RA and stress), so yesterday I was absolutely knocked out physically and emotionally (lack of sleep, pain killers and muscular relaxants are quite a combo).
Resting the whole day yesterday worked: my shoulder is functional again. My brain refuses to suffer with work-related stuff.
Therefore, I'm writing fic today, and I'll suffer the blasted report on Saturday and Sunday.
Dear me.
