Bayverse Headcanons
Just some headcanons I keep in mind when I'm writing bayverse. Will probably come back and add more as I decide on them.
Leonardo
Height/weight: 6’2”, 670lbs
Theme song : Loyal by ODESZA
Ambidextrous but if he needs to punch someone he uses his right hand
Has a dry sense of humor, more little quips and witty one liners than anything planned
Turns into a bit of a caveman when you’re in danger. He catches you going someplace dangerous? Straight to turtle jail for 1000 years. You don’t wanna be picked up and carried to safety? Too bad, it’s happening
Is the King of small touches. A hand on your back, a nudge of his knuckles to get you moving. Mr. soft eyes and low voice when he wants to get his way
Still gets into arguments with Raph. Sometimes they still dissolve into fisticuffs.
References vines to the horror of his brothers (his fav is “road work ahead”)
No one will play Risk with him because even if he’s losing he somehow bleeds everyone dry
Has a gameboy with exactly one game, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. All his animals have names like "Bob" or "Tilda"
can't cook, is banned from the kitchen, once set water on fire.
reads science fiction, fantasy and sagas a lot, though if you pay attention to his books the covers are sometimes swapped and it's almost always poetry or romances.
Not a big fan of PDA. Will give you a snoot boop or a chaste forehead kiss in public, but anything more is off limits. What’s that? You wanna snuggle? You better hope none of his brothers walk in because this turtle might panic and shove you off his lap in a snap decision instinct. You wanna go to his room? The scandal. What will everyone think? Fine, but he’ll ninja you in there. No one will know or see. Ninja silent. Except- Donnie will know. Donnie will see. Because he was sitting in the chair right next to you two and you both somehow forgot he was there.
Hogs the bed. And the covers. And the pillows. Basically if you want any bed commodity you better be prepared to snuggle
If you want him to watch tv that’s not sports it’s gotta be some older saga or classic that you actually have to pay attention to. Loves black and white martial arts movies. You once caught him hugging a pillow and watching Princess Mononoke with tears in his eyes.
Will just stare at the person who asked him to kill a little harmless spider before leaving the room
Donatello
Height/Weight: 6’8”/ 680lbs
Theme Song: Frequency by Tim Wolf
Left handed
Donnie is THE sarcastic little shit.
He realizes quickly that while Leo has softness, and Raph is filthy, he doesn’t need to stoop to theatrics to get what he wants. He just has to make eye contact, tilt his head, and tell you in a calm, plain voice what he desires, and it works.
Can’t keep his attention on one thing for a long period of time, or has to have multiple stimuli going on to keep focus. King of multitasking
The turtle most likely to curse
Can’t sleep without a nightlight and either music or a movie
Listens to filthy music when he’s working.
The others gang up on him during trivia night to give everyone else a chance
the adrenaline junkie
one time he got Leo's tea mixed up with his coffee and he spat the substance clear across the Lair.
can cook but it's kinda bland. Can't bake to save his life, despite arguing with every failed cake like it’s out to get him: “it’s science why won’t you work??!”
hasn't opened a real book since the invention of the internet. Has a library of hard drives with the subject matter clearly labeled in alphabetical order. Mikey doesn't know about it and thus it has stayed relatively in order.
Doesn’t use his bed much, so the upside is you always have room to stretch out. Bad news is, if you want this turtle to get any decent sleep, you have to figure out how to keep him trapped enough where he can’t move without waking you up. And he’s a ninja.
Donnie likes to watch informative things. Like how it’s made, or unsolved mysteries. His crack show though? Cryptid hunters. He’ll laugh himself silly over people trying to trap Bigfoot or corner Mothman
The one that kills spiders
Raphael
Height/Weight: 6’5”/ 720lbs
Theme Song: Don’t Get in My Way by Zack Hemsey
Right handed
Turtle has a MOUTH and he is not afraid to open it to to get what he wants. Absolutely filthy when he wants to be.
Will turn into a little melted turtle puddle if someone is sweet to him. Doesn’t really turn to butter over words, but actions will get him every time.
Watches crocodile hunter and golden girls when no one else is awake. Loves animal documentaries, and zoboomafoo
Rough around the edges when it comes to heartfelt affection or feelings. With seduction he’s smooth, but telling someone he genuinely cares for them? Good luck stringing two words together my dude.
Prefers silence or listening when hanging out with someone. He’s slow with his input, careful with what he says. You’re winning if you can make him laugh
in the kitchen he’s either making the most disgusting looking thing that tastes fucking amazing or he’s grilling. Doesn’t tell anyone he learned how to make bread watching Julia Childe.
If he's doing something dangerous or something stupid, the worse thing you could say is along the line of "Leo said-" like, congrats, you just made sure he's gonna do the thing everyone knows he shouldn't. Flip side, he's trying to talk you out of doing something? Just sigh and say "ok, guess I'll go ask Leo-" Boom. Thing is done. Is it healthy? no. Does it work? yes.
Is the most considerate when it comes to sleepy time. He’ll make sure you have your own pillow, own blankets. He sleeps on his stomach and doesn’t move much, and is large enough that you could sleep tucked under the lip of his shell without fear of being squashed
Not the one to call if you see a spider. He will scream
Michelangelo
Height/weight: 6’0”/ 640lbs
Theme Song: Handclap by Fitz and the Tantrums
Right handed but if he puts his mind to it he can use his left equally for everything but writing
Is legally obligated to use cheesy pick up lines, and is a Talker
Uses lollipops and hard candy to keep his focus, bit of an oral fixation
completely ruins heartfelt moments by getting sidetracked. Can be giving the mushiest compliments then in the next breath go "so you gonna eat that leftover cake in your fridge or nah?"
Changes nicknames for you on a semi-weekly basis just to keep you on your toes and to annoy his brothers
Prankster extraordinare
Can cook, but like the annoying ‘these are the worst ingredients to combine and somehow this tastes good and I'm going to sue you over telling me what's in this’
Is the best with understanding emotions and expressing himself. Yes, Leo might be better reading body language, but Mikey has empathy over why someone might react a certain way, not just 'if I do y then x happens'
Will push buttons to see how much he can bug someone
The one most likely to help you sneak out and get up to shit. Also the one most likely to get you two caught.
Makes up song lyrics when he doesn't know the actual words. Will change them to suit his needs, or how badly he wants to tick off his brothers. Not sure who would get the MOST annoyed by wrong lyrics on purpose, but you just know he has a different set fine tuned for each brother
His bed is basically a storage container for pillows and blankets. Which is good, because he is a serial cuddler, and if you need space to sleep you’ve got plenty of pillows to act as a body double if needs be
Loves soap operas, iron chef, diners drive-ins and dives. The more drama is in it, the more he eats it up. He and Raph bond over Golden Girls once the bigger brother realized he wasn’t going to get teased over it
Will pick up the spider to show you it’s not something to be scared of

1990s Breakbeat Playlist
Well, it's Mother's Day here in America, so be sure to show mom how much you love and appreciate her by giving her this 90s breakbeat playlist as a very special gift! 🥰 This week I've added a couple tunes from Ninja Cuts: Flexistentialism, a 1996 sampler that was put out by Ninja Tune, one of the greatest electronic labels to ever specialize in breakbeat, breaks, downtempo, trip hop, hip hop, and more.
And the first add happens to come from the legendary founding duo of Ninja Tune itself, Coldcut, who deliver pure, totally frenzied, retro-futurist, Cold War-styled havoc and panic in a song called "Atomic Moog 2000." This uptempo, psychedelically funky sweatfest first appeared on Flexistentialism in 1996 before appearing the following year on the Atomic Moog 2000 12-inch, and it's also *not* to be confused with an entirely different version of the song that was included on Coldcut's first Ninja Tune album, Let Us Play!, in 1997. Strap in for this one, folks, 'cuz it's a pretty fuckin' wild ride! Around 77K Spotify plays.
And immediately following that one is something a bit jazz-loungier called "Do You Believe in Love?" by Ashley Beedle presents the Uschi Classen Band. The last update I made for this playlist back in November of last year included a Beedle tune too—his phenomenal "Sun Barrio Break Mix" of Takada's "Ola-Le"—and now he's back with another one, with this one-off song he did with fellow Londoner Uschi Classen. True-blue hip hop junkies might notice the tone-setting sample at the beginning of this one too: Smokey Robinson's "Theme From Big Time," which was then used the following year by Company Flow for their underground cult classic, "8 Steps to Perfection." And I'm thinking El-P probably got the idea to use that sample from this very Beedle/Classen tune itself, because "Do You Believe in Love?" appears to be the first song that ever sampled Smokey's "Big Time" theme in the first place. Currently at around 73K plays.
Coldcut - "Atomic Moog 2000" Ashley Beedle Presents the Uschi Classen Band - "Do You Believe in Love?"
But in addition to those two gems, I've got a couple more on the YouTube version of this playlist too, both of which can't be found on Spotify. First among these is another one from the guys from Coldcut, specifically their alias/side project, DJ Food, which still exists, but doesn't contain either member anymore. In 1992, DJ Food released the third volume in their something-along-the-lines-of-a-DJ-tools-series, Jazz Brakes, and on there is a sweet and funky, hand-drum-and-flute-laced groove called "Ninja Walk," which would also then appear on the triple-vinyl version of Flexistentialism some years later too. This one's nearing 57K plays on YouTube.
And then for something that has nothing to do with Flexistentialism at all, we have a remix of alternative multi-instrumentalist Lisa Germano's "Lovesick" that was done by London's Underdog in 1997. The official version of this remix is of way more of a trip hop bent than it is breakbeat, but the version that I'm supplying you all with this week is the one that appeared on Parisian Kid Loco's fantastic DJ-Kicks mix in 1999. This one appears to be blended with the beat from the preceding song in that mix, whose official version I can't even find on YouTube, called "Culture Consumers," by a short-lived duo called Tongue. Like much of the rest of that mix, this song makes for some truly heady and totally stoned trippery, but it also comes with some pretty dissonant guitar noise too! Currently around 72K YouTube plays.
DJ Food - "Ninja Walk" Lisa Germano - "Lovesick (Underdog Rmx)"
And this playlist is on YouTube Music too.
So with this update, the Spotify version of this playlist is now at 16 songs that total 90 minutes, but over on YouTube, we've got 36 songs that clock in at 198 minutes! So if you want a lot more 90s breakbeat goodies that are a bit rarer and harder to find, you should definitely give that YouTube one a look!
More breakbeat next week 😎.
Enjoy!
More to come, eventually. Stay tuned!

OMGOMG SAFI congrats on 100 ml !! hihii im here to participate in your cute slumber party event ! (i even brought my fave pillow and totoro plushie)
okok soo yk i'm dria 🩵 black / caribbean, around 5'1 (i promise im so close to 5'2 don't @ me haters will hate i drink my milk and eat my veggies) i have huge hair!! like very big hair, too many curls!! it's alot! i love reading, i write plenty of poetry, which is what i use most of my time to do — i lovelove r&b and early 2000s rap music. however, if u open my spotify rn and shuffle my liked songs it would go in order of hip hop, rap, afrobeats, classical music bcus my taste is all over the place. (i also keep a folder of edit audios for my own maladaptive daydreaming purposes lmao)
im rlly a baby blue girlie, fave flowers are tulips (idk my brain js thinks they look yummy), fave season is autumn ofc bcus rainy weather and i have an excuse to stay inside under my blankets 😭 fave animal would beee a black panther or a tabby cat! (my bby bella is a tabby lmao) i love vintage shows (rlly old noir films of all types of genres) i love cinema and visual art it stimulates me sm (im autistic btw i forgot to say mb) i've watched almost every wes anderson film in existence i love soft color palettes in film so bad <3
i enjoy watching old cartoons to relive my childhood nostalgia, jewelry (esp rings i never go anywhere without one or two on), rainy days, late night car drives, baggy shirts, scented candles, afrobeats n anything astronomy related.
im very much a social science n humanities junkie - yearning to be a clinical psychiatrist or complete my dream of teaching literature / psychology. i cry very easily (im js a crybaby istg) - in general im just very very emotional and more often than not i forget common sense and instinct are a thing bcus wtv i feel i just go with it - though i am extremely introverted and freak out when overstimulated in huge crowds and whatnot.
for the event im picking toji bcus that man is the love of my life bye ☹️ the epitome of sunshine and sunshine protector - tiny human and big scary guard dog ! in terms of our compatibility, we're so opposite it's insane! but we balance each other out well. sometimes i have to serve as toji's brain bcus this man is spending money he does not have on all sorts of things for me js cause i looked twice (my sister hced that he'd go below bankrupt buying me sanrio plushies and rings) he works mostly off instinct where i go completely off emotion so we butt heads alot in terms of decision making but he does not know how to tell me no, all i do is sigh once and HES DONE FOR.
i stress this man out like hes my full time babysitter pls
we acc spend alot of time having deep talks about the world and life in general, (i told him ab the backrooms lore and it messed w his head for weeks) which is a side of him he rarely shows to anyone (also he listens to me rant abt daily pop culture developments bcus he lowkey loves the celebrity drama) he's rlly protective, and even moreso bcus of how my anxiety gets. in a crowd this man is standing in front of me and blocking my view of everyone (he also subconsciously pulls me into his side when we're walking in public bcus my autistic ass will see one thing and wander off never to be found again) im always talking like talk talk talking and he pretends he isn't listening but he's literally able to repeat today something i mentioned two weeks ago - he's attentive, shows his love through actions rather than words. if i even make a face that gives away that im uncomfortable being somewhere, or my social battery is dead, hes taking me home no questions asked not a care as to who says what.
im an affection junkie - physical touch is my thing ! and hes so big! so im always pouncing on him for bear hugs and he acts so unimpressed and cocky abt it like "oh you missed me? im not goin anywhere relax" but he acc melts bcus when was the last time someone gave him affection?? he prob thinks im a figment of his imagination lolol
days off / dates would mainly be : window shopping, grocery runs, sitting in the park at sunset, indoor ramen dates n movie marathons and cuddles !!
AHHH sorry if i ranted way too much omg i can't wait to see what you do safi, i'll love anything u write ily so baddd <33
note: hihi dria, thanks for bringing your fave pillow and your totoro plush to the slumber party.
dria x toji — ꒰ tojria
“in this space right here that we have made for each other, you can say anything and i will not abandon you. unwrap the worst things you have done. watch me hold them up to the light and not even flinch.”
height differences, cinnamoroll x badtz maru, protective touches, 3 am conversations about life, romantic picnics at sunset, shopping together, opposites attract, shy x protective, princess treatment, introvert x introvert, buckling your seatbelt for you, tired bf x hyper gf, teasing remarks, day x night, accidental eye contact, blushing, midnight walks, late night phone calls, giddiness, sunshine x sunshine protector, stealing his clothes, late night drives, deleted texts, holding hands under the table, "mean to everyone but her" bf, head pats, she fell first, he fell harder.
being with toji is not always as seamless or easy as you make it look. He's gruff and protective and difficult and incredibly stubborn. like that time you two fought because he was ignoring what you were saying and he flat-out refused to acknowledge your demand when you called him out on it. to be fair, he'd come home after an eight-hour shift and you'd started talking his head off, but it wouldn't kill him to listen. he wasn't paying attention when you were talking about that new hello kitty cafe with the fun milkshakes and the mini donuts that you wanted to try. hell, he ended up falling asleep on your shoulder after brushing off your argument and as much as you wanted to remain angry at him, you'd softened immediately upon seeing his tired face, all eyebags and troubled frown. and he did make it up to you later by taking you to said cafe and proving that he had been listening, though when you brought it up to him, he pretended not to know what you were talking about. but deep down he cares for you and he's trying — you know he's trying and you don't want to make him feel bad for things he can't control. a lot of the concerns you should bring up to him, you don't — you want this relationship to be easy and safe. you want him to feel comfortable with you the same way that you feel comfortable with him. even if sometimes he comes home with a busted lip and bloody knuckles and sends your heart skidding against your ribcage. but what matters is that he comes to you first and he comes home to you. so you know that no matter what, no matter how he's feeling, if he thinks he can talk to you or not, he'll always come home to you. and even if you doubt his commitment sometimes, he knows that you're home to him and he'll do anything to keep it that way.
NOW PLAYING
the way i loved you, enchanted, daylight, afterglow, how you get the girl, treacherous, sparks fly, so it goes...
join safi's perfect slumber party event — requests are open for everyone!

round up // JUNE 24
This post is late 'cause I'm a writer, Though Austin Butler's cute in The Bikeriders, Who didn’t have time for post creation Before my big summer vacation. And it marks the 12th year Of this little blog now. With a 283rd post, I’ve know I got it down. Too bad anxiety don't do it for ya, John Wayne, he dream came trued it for ya, Bad Boys rebooted up for ya. Now I’m singin' Sabrina all night, oh, Is it that sweet? I guess so. Type it up, down, left, right, oh, Switch it up like Nintendo. Crowd vs. Critic, I know That's that me espresso
June Crowd-Pleasers
1. Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024)
The fourth Bad Boys is functioning on three levels:
It reminds us just how fun buddy cop comedies can be.
It’s a soft reboot of the franchise.
It’s testing the waters for Will Smith’s future.
Read my full review for ZekeFilm. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7/10
youtube
2. “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter (2024)
It may be technically too early to call the race for Song of the Summer, but it’s going to take a major earworm to dethrone Sabrina Carpenter’s caffeinated pop hit for me. I’ve started playing it on repeat and daydreaming dance routines while driving—is it that sweet? I guess so.
3. Inside Out 2 (2024)
This sequel works because t’s a logical next step for Riley’s growth, but also because of its precision in identifying the competing emotions of middle school. That’s a lovely subversion of the neat endings in most family entertainment, and like most every Pixar entry, it did make me cry. Read my full review for ZekeFilm. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 8.5/10
4. Anxious People by Fredrik Backman (2019)
The narrator—a cousin of Arrested Development's—informs us this is a story about a bank robbery gone wrong. It’s also a story about realtors, falling in love, rabbits, therapy sessions, bedroom closets, police work, bridges, and strange coincidences. It’s a laugh-out-loud ensemble (with some scenes so non sequitur I could imagine them in the best Adam McKay movies) and a sentimental rom-com (with some scenes reminiscent of Nora Ephron’s tone).
5. Behind Enemy Lines (2001)
This action movie based on a true story more than lives up to its title. When Owen Wilson’s cocky Navy pilot gets caught, yes, behind enemy lines, he then, yes, has to go through a Top Gun-inspired arc. But neither Wilson nor Gene Hackman are phoning in what could’ve been a paint-by-numbers war film, which makes it both thrilling and poignant. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 7.5/10
MORE JUNE CROWD-PLEASERS // House Rules by Myquillyn Smith (2023) isn’t the restricting guide the title suggests but a collection of 100 decorating inspirations // Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013) make me miss Adam McKay’s true comedy days, when his political views made his jokes more poignant instead of overwhelming the intent of his script // Poms (2019) is a fun entry in the recent trend of Older Screen Lady Legends Doing It For Themselves subgenre (See also: 80 for Brady) // I.S.S. (2023) is more thoughtful than a junkie space thriller needs to be // In the Land of Saint and Sinners (2023) is a classic Western that just happens to be set in Ireland // Snack Shack (2024) is more crass than I prefer, but what works has American Graffiti vibes
June Critic Picks
1. The Bikeriders (2024)
It’s like Austin Butler overheard Robert Redford say, “Paul Newman and I are the handsomest white men who have ever been on screen,” and he said, “Hold my comb.” Butler knows he’s beautiful, and so does writer/director Jeff Nichols, who based The Bikeriders on a book of photography. Nichols also knows how cool guys in leather jackets look while smoking and riding motorcycles (even if we consciously know all of those things are dangerous clichés) and that it takes someone as gorgeous as Butler to make us believe a skeptical woman like Jodie Comer’s Kathy would sell her soul to have him. It’s one of best films of the year so far, and you can hear more thoughts in my review on KTRS's Carney Show. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 9.5/10
2. Double Feature - ‘40s Rom-Coms With With Political Twists: Without Reservations (1946) + State of the Union (1948)
In Frank Capra’s State of the Union (Crowd: 7.5/10 // Critic: 8.5/10), Spencer Tracy is considering running for President of the United States with the help of lover Angela Lansbury and to the chagrin of wife Katharine Hepburn. In Mervyn LeRoy’s Without Reservations (8/10 // 8.5/10), famous author Claudette Colbert is road-tripping incognito (much like she did in It Happened One Night) after falling hard for returning soldier John Wayne. In both romances, politics are the force driving apart the couples we’re rooting for, and in Reservations, you also get a perfect rom-com BFF in Don DeFore.
3. The Cross of Lorraine (1943)
About the same time Casablanca came out, Peter Lorre played a supporting role in another World War II adventure filmed as people were escaping the Nazis in real life. This French POW drama (also co-starring Gene Kelly) walked so that Steve McQueen could jump that motorcycle in The Great Escape. Crowd: 7.5/10 // Critic: 8/10
4. Broadcast News (1987)
What’s a girl to do when she has no time to write a valedictorian speech? And what’s a girl to do when she has to choose between two terrible love interests while working in the world of TV journalism? In ep. 140 of SO IT’S A SHOW?, Kayla and I are digging into the ‘80s romantic dramedy Broadcast News and trying to figure out what the hey it has to do with Rory’s graduation in Gilmore Girls. Why is Lorelai comparing Rory to Holly Hunter? What ethical controversy (if you can even call it that) could make Holly Hunter break up with a dreamy news anchor? And how much do we love The Incredibles? Listen in for a special report on all of these stories.
5. Fancy Dance (2023)
Part mystery, part character drama, all Lily Gladstone star power. Fancy Dance overlaps in plot and theme with Killers of the Flower Moon, but Gladstone has created a completely different character stuck in a world of crime and custody battles. Watch my full review on KMOV. Crowd: 7/10 // Critic: 8.5/10
Also in June…
I reviewed Janet Planet for ZekeFilm, which was the opposite of Snack Shack: On paper it's a film I should've loved, but I didn't care for the execution.

The new album by Visions of Atlantis is out!
As a big fan of theirs who has got nothing better to do, here are my 24 cents about it*:
*2 for each song
Warning: First impressions + no proofread! Also, there's a poll in the end ;)
01. To Those Who Choose To Fight - wait, a short track for an intro? Didn't expect that... Makes for a nice prelude if you listen to the two Pirates albums back to back. 02. The Land Of The Free - Holy fuck, this is my jam. They went unusually heavy on the orchestrations here, the guitars are nice, the whole thing is overall bombastic! Unusual, coming from this band - instant favourite. 💙 03. Monsters - the one that made me worried that the album will be too similar to the previous one. Very catchy, nice lyrics, love it, but still... Listening now in context, it fits well with the more explosive/massive sound they chose for the first part of the album. Fortunately, I think they managed to make this popular explosive sound their own here, implementing the best parts from the overall slower albums with Clementine. 04. Tonight I'm Alive - honestly, respect for whoever wrote this - they managed to chase away many of my doubts in basically the last moment. A nice dose of surprise (for me). My favourite single! 💙 Really brings out in the daylight the funniest variant of my awful dancing. 05. Armada - (unfortunately or not, depends on the listener) really similar to Legion of the Seas; although I actually like it more out of the two. Has a little more humour in it, that's why. Can't wait to hear both live in Milan - they promise to be so much fun! Hail Jolly Roger! 06. The Dead Of The Sea - a great opportunity to pinpoint just how goood the vocal duo is. Their voices go together like bread and butter if you ask me. Probably at the core of things it's this that made their last 3 albums a success. Both Clemi and Michele really shine here. 07. Ashes To The Sea - here we go, a ballad! Hooray! Slow tracks are always great if they're made by Visions of Atlantis (fangirling: 100). They just have something that gets me every time. 08. Hellfire - can I say how much I love the fact that in this album they never slow down after the nice/bombastic intros? Many bonus points from me here. The Alestorm junkie in me immediately responded to that "Hellfire!" call, and the whole song is a banger. Another heart of special recommending from me.💙 09. Collide - interestingly, Clemi's parts here immediately reminded me of Exit Eden... 10. Magic Of The Night - another dance-y song. They're just so fun to me. Also, guys, please stop exciting me with those woodwinds?! I fall for those EVERY TIME, I'm a little ashamed... XD 11. Underwater - ballad #2 - in the usual place in the tracklist. A classic Visions of Atlantis one, with an accent on Clemi's indisputable talent. 12. Where The Sky And Ocean Blend - had a lot of expectations for the closing track, since I Will Be Gone was my favourite from the last album. I'm glad to say that I'm satisfied with it's diversity and lyrics (looove the bridge)! Now, GIVE ME MOOORE!!!
Conclusion: The band's adorable style - combining a very romantic dreaminess with a lot of humour, continues to entice me - especially since the last is even more prevalent here compared to the previous album. I'm very happy that they managed to surprise me with a lot of the instrumentals. All songs look fun to sing along to, but I don't know all the lyric yet. Gotta solve this soon! Fun fact: did you know that the "characters" of the albums are first identified as pirates in a song from Wanderers - At The End Of The World? ("We will make our life / Like the pirates we once were") Did I mention that I can't wait to see them in Milan...
Ok, thanks to you who read all of this! I'd love to hear your opinion about the album, if you feel like sharing (something long or just random noises of pirate-happiness or grumpiness, doesn't matter)! Ahoy, going in for a second full listen!

what are jesper go nyoom and knights and princes?😳
[wip list]
"jesper go nyoom" is the only way i know how to refer to my fun lil street racer jesper au aka an excuse for adrenaline junkie jesper and stupid inadvisable sex (which has been worked on recently because i'm listening to the charli xcx song from the barbie movie on repeat at the moment and loving it)
"knights and princes" is an au i've fully plotted and am just waiting for the inspo to write properly because it's. so fun. but it's prince wylan x personal guard/knight jesper and effectively an homage to old/classic demigodbeautiies wesper ie super horny, lots of bickering, and also someone gets (almost) mortally wounded

What’s everyone’s favorite media/song/whatever they consume or like to do?
HmmmmmmmMMMMMM—
(not me being able to do complex character analysis chronicling how a character develops over time yet being completely stumped when it comes to what stuff they like—)
We're breaking it down by strictly media then cuz tryna give everyone a favorite song would kill me and I have never been good with specifics:
Kai: Likes movies, video games, and occasionally music. Doesn't really have any particular favorites due to only getting into this kind of stuff relatively recently (eventually and especially including social media), but he definitely likes rock music, and Fist to Face 2 is "his game". Also has been known to indulge in Teen Idol magazine.
Jay: Likes video games, movies, and comics, if he's not in the middle of inventing. He'll endure a sappy romcom if it's something Nya's into, but he's actually a superhero movie junkie. Loves anything action-y. Faves for both comics and movies is Starfarer, and fave video game is Lava Zombies.
Zane: Likes books and movies, both because it opens up ways for him to broaden his horizons on peoples' experiences. He finds both romance and horror hilarious (and comedies confusing), but his real adoration is reserved for things that have taught him something new (which...also includes cookbooks...what? he likes learning new recipes!)
Cole: Likes music and video games. Doesn't quite have attention span for books/movies, but will go to a movie if the premise interests him. Obviously has at least a bit of a taste for classical stuff when it comes to music/dancing, but also enjoys songs he can dance to or songs Jesse is willing to sing. Favorite video game is Sitar Legend!
Nya: Likes books, music, and the occasional movie. She's an avid attempter / enjoyer of just about everything, so like Kai she doesn't exactly have any favorites (but for different reasons). But, she does have a special fondness for anything she's made a good memory with (like amusement parks, for example). ...her movie tastes may be slightly skewed in favor of Jay and Olivia, however.
Lloyd: Likes essentially anything that can occupy his attention, but especially comics, cartoons, and video games. Obviously likes Starfarer (and where Jay likes the movies, Lloyd prefers the comics), but when it comes to video games he likes the fighting ones. Mindless violence is always fun, but games where you gotta 'be a hero, save the world!' all the time...nah, pass. He gets enough of that.
Jesse: Likes music, movies, and the occasional video game. You already know he's a huge theater/musical nerd, so that's just like music + movies mashed up into one right there. And no, I can't pick a favorite for him because *I'm* not a theater buff and all musicals I know are generic mainstream ones snksnksnk (...Chapter 20 is literally a Hamilton reference I'm—) Likes any video game his sister can't best him at (which is...not a lot haha)
Antonia: Likes...well, everything. Reading and writing especially and obviously, but with trying to always be on top of what's mainstream (as practice for a future journalist career) she tends to try and consume whatever's popular while it's popular (hence her brief obsession with Samurai X). Avidly listens to the Top Pop 40, but actually prefers alternative and indie artists. Same with movies and books—she keeps up with the latest release, but some of her favorites are the most underground things you've never heard of. And in the case of video games...she's a fighting game enthusiast. Living the dream.
Harumi: Really likes books. Doesn't watch a lot of tv/movies as it is (though she does like watching horror/thrillers when she can) nor does she have a phone (her parents have plans to surprise her for her next birthday in April, though), so a good chunk of her personal entertainment is via reading. Primarily enjoys fantasy and mystery novels!
Olivia: Does not get a whole lot of time for herself (ironically still only goes to school just to not have to think/work so hard) but when she does miraculously have free times, she likes movies. Primarily ones were there's an animal going on a rampage, or zombie/alien invasion movies. Gets freaked out by scary movies but watches them anyway because they're entertaining. Likes rock, but of the screaming, metallic variety. And she likes DND and other related campaigns 👀
Miranda: Likes video games and...computers, essentially. Most of time she's absorbed in her own projects (especially when she has little else to do), but when she needs a brain break, video games are the go-to. And she likes all of them–puzzles, RPGS, adventures, Tactical, FPS, monster-collecting, collect-a-thons, racing, fighting, mystery, strategy...anything except sports games. She also listens to a lot of electronic and dubstep music (which Jesse cannot understand how that happened, but okay. At least they both can agree on the legend that is Owl City)

Been sorting and restructuring my vocaloid playlist again which means it's time for another edition of "songs I want in project sekai"
I'm Glad You're Evil Too- PinocchioP swings N25 and WxS for me pretty consistently, but this swings N25 specifically. This feels like SUCH a Kanade and Mizuki sort of song to me, honestly.
Childish War - was listening to the Juby/Rachie English cover of this recently, I think the chart would be fun. This is a Tenma Siblings song.
Melancholic- one of my favorite junky songs!!! I think a MMJ cover of this would be delightful. I saw Airi fanart of this the other day and it's been rent free in my brain since.
[It's Not] World's End - This is VERY much an N25 sort of song to me, but it's also got a really nice jaunt to it that I think would make it very fun to play.
The Weekend is Coming- Thought about this recently because i had to find a new video for 16bit Wars for my playlist. It's still really good!!! I still really like it. A pretty equal contender for a MMJ or WxS cover.
Fire Flower- songs that still make me cry in this the year of our lord 2023. An easy WxS cover, I wanna hear a Tsukasa solo version of this.
again - I listened to a remix of this recently and it strikes me as an Ena solo. I would even hazard this as an Ena and Mizuki cover.
Saihate- I feel like this is such an old classic? I'm kind of impressed it's not in the game as far as I know? I'm pretty sure it's in Project Diva. Anyways I'd give it to N25 or MMJ, I'm kinda torn on it tbh.
[Not] a Devil- this came out REAL recently, but I've had it on repeat and I think the chart would be really fun. I think this would make a good An and Kohane duet, tbh. OR: my ideal duet of Mafuyu and Emu.
Lavie- I honestly just want an Akito cover of this tbh, it's not terribly deep. BUT I think it would be stellar as a rhythm game chart.
Reincarnation Apple- another song on the long list of "N25 or WxS?" debates. I equally want to hear a Mafuyu and a Nene cover of this. It would be fun with the full chorus of either group though.
Delusion Sketch- an older bop, I still really like the PV for it. I would give it to MMJ or N25 probably, though it's got a little more poppy than I usually associate with N25.
panda hero- In my ideal world where Kenshi Yonezu would let PrSk cover his older songs, they also get into contact with older cover artists to get permission to use their rap versions. Either way, VBS no questions.
A Song I'd like to Sing- I forgot how much I enjoy this song, I've got a cover of it I'm pretty partial to. This has strong WxS vibes to me, but I could see it as an ensemble PrSk protagonists song.
lifeline- my FAVORITE junky song, bar none. Finding it again to put on a playlist was a TRIAL. Definitely a l/n song, not a hard choice.
Sing My Love- one of my old middle school jams. It's still super cute tbh, I'd give it to MMJ. Give this to Haruka for my health.
Love Hero- probably in my top 5 Gumi songs tbh. The instrumentals say l/n but in my ideal world the video game squad gets the song about event flags even if it's not their usual fair.
Marshall Maximizer- the micchi cover of this keeps coming up on my playlist so it's been on my brain. I would GREATLY enjoy this as a VBS cover, but I could also see it as an N25 song tbh.
Dont Kill The Love Song- I've been on a PinocchioP kick don't @ me. I think this would make a fun l/n song though, or WxS for the vibes.
One of Repetition- I CAN'T decide if this is more of a MMJ song or VBS. I feel like it works well as both. Give this to Minori and Kohane for another crossover duet.
The shape of my heart - this one is a bit of a relic, but I remembered it recently and it still holds up I think. An easy l/n song for me if I had to assign it (I don't, but it's fun). They need a few sadder songs in their repertoire.
Go Go Ghost Ship- Again, In My Ideal World Where We Get Kenshi Yonezu Covers. My first instinct says that I wanna hear WxS go ham on this song.
Thank you once again for joining me on my post playlist editing vocaloid kick. If I messed up any of the links up there, let me know o7
#vocaloid#prsk#more more jump#wonderland x showtime#leo/need#vivid bad squad#nightcord at 25:00#thanks for tuning in everyone#i will not be taking any criticism at this time#fun game to play: guess my favorite group from this lineup

One of my all time favorites will always be The Grudge. It was the first horror movie I ever watched. My brother made me a deal when I was ten that if I could sit through The Grudge, he'd let me watch The Hills Have Eyes... let's just say from there a horror junkie was born. CURRENTLY WATCHING: There's nothing on the TV right now, but I casually kind of loop Stranger Things, the series I'm binging right now is King of the Hill
WORKING ON: Making Icons! Also doing some outlines for some fics I would like to work on and finish. I'd love to get the next chapter of Map to Hope out, and I have another one I've started that's a big vent fic with Disabled Eddie. i discovered your writing this yesterday and i am so taken by your words. you’re truly very gifted, i hope you know that and nurture it! junky pride gave me all sorts of feelings… big sigh! i was curious to know, where do you draw your inspiration from when it comes to fics and just storytelling more generally, apart from the man himself of course? i know you have only shared a few things with us but they are so immersive and i can only imagine how boundless your imagination must be. also… i saw you study english lit, so wondering what are your fave books?! Xoxo 💋
thank you so much, sweetheart!! i really do appreciate it all the kind messages; they're such a huge motivator ♡
to answer your question though, i mainly draw inspiration from song lyrics if i'm being honest. obviously, i love lana del rey - her lyricism is truly poetry. i also draw a lot from the dark, morbid lyricism of nicole dollanganger too and various other artists. i guess i just build from the things that feel special to me. certain imagery can evoke certain feelings as well. i'll see an edit of fucking red dead redemption and suddenly get the urge to write because it pulls a specific idea that i can only ever express through words. i'm not an artist, give me a pencil and paper and tell me to draw something i will give you an awful rendition but words, i can do. i play the piano and the guitar yet even then, when i write music, my faith is not in the melody, it's all in the lyrics.
either way, when it comes to prose i kinda just...make it up as i go along?? i don't really know what i'm doing. i've never been clasically trained - creative writing has never really been taught to me on a detailed level either, i just have a basic knowledge of grammar and turn the thoughts in my own head into something that makes some sense. i'm glad that you find it immersive enough to evoke emotion!! its all i really wish to do because i know how many feelings that i get when i read certain fanfiction because i am a firm believer that fanfiction is writing. there's so many stereotypes surrounding it to lead those less informed to believe that it's all just mindless smut and thirsting but it's so much more than that for me. so many writers get their start in fanfiction! it's a great place to construct your personal writing style and build a more solid knowledge of writing in general.
alsoooo, my favourite books!! my favourite of all time is blood meridian by cormac mccarthy!! i love old west themed stuff (my fave film is the good the bad and the ugly lol) and i read a lot of louis l'amour, especially when i want something that i can read in a few days. i'm really drawn to the history of america, espcially the expansion of the american west so anything outlaw and cowboy related is my fave!! i like pride and predjudice too which i feel is such a basic answer but it was the first classic i ever read!! and as someone who doesn't really like reading the classics because studying them to death at school kinda takes the fun out of it, i really like austens work. there is definitely an element of nostalgia in there, but isn't there in everything?

Going with some 5's on the music ask: 5 and 15!
5:A song that needs to be played LOUD
Ooooh good question!
For songs I think of immediately, I go for Burn the Witch by PVRIS, Tommy Gensis, and Alice Longyu Gao. It's so goddamned good and angry. For a classic loud screamy boi,
DONTTRUSTME by 3oh!3. Like. Come on. Who hasn't screamed, "Tell your boyfriend if he says he's got beef that I'm a vegetarian and I ain't fuckin' scared of him" at the top of their lungs in somebody's basement party at 12am?
And, as I am perpetually somehow both a scene kid and a nostalgia junkie, Fins by Jimmy Buffett.
15:A song that is a cover by another artist.
(I originally was like "I gotta have at least one cool person answer for this" but I don't. All my cover favorites are super dorkmode.)
The not cool Teen Wolf fan answer: Mourning Ritual's cover of Bad Moon Rising by CCR.
The not cool scene kid answer: The Almost's cover of Free Fallin' by Tom Petty.
The way not cool with no qualifiers answer: Groove Coverage's cover of Poison by Alice Cooper. Don't - stop. I saw it on a Drarry fanvid in like 2007 (I SAID DON'T) and loved it.

yay CaliYork :D I haven't thought about these lovelies too much, so let's see what i can cook up-
1.) They like to read and write. New York reads classics and California will read anything. In my head, New York writes children's books for Louisiana, but before he gives them to Loui, California reads them for any potential errors (and, let's be honest, he enjoys New York's writing sm).
2.) New York also writes a bunch of letters to California. He can't seem to stop writing about him. California has a whole drawer of all the letters and reads them when he feels sad. (This hc was inspired by the New York Times having a specific section on California, and even tho i'm not a huge fan of NYT, i thought this was perfect as hell for CaliYork)
3.) California gets rid of the insects in their house, not bc New York's scared of them, but bc Cal never kills insects. Cal got sad when New York killed a spider, so he just let Cal take care of the insects from then on.
4.) They gossip A LOT. If you can't find these two at a party, you can prolly find these lovelies in a corner talking shit about everyone. They were thriving during the Drake-Kendrick beef, I tell ya. (also, their fav song out of the whole thing was Not Like Us, but NY really enjoys the vibes of meet the grahams)
5.) California has an apartment in Long Beach, and before they got together, New York would visit to check up on him. California wasn't used to having someone do that for him, so he was super fond of New York for doing so. They live together in that apartment now that they're together.
6.) These two are massive adrenaline junkies. You can't tell me they don't have "murder someone together" as a date idea or something along the lines of that lmao
7.) These love flowers and birds. Everytime they find a pretty flower or bird, they take a pic and send it to the other person. They could make a scrapbook of all the pictures they've taken istg
8.) They became friends bc California was always super friendly towards New York. Even when New York was unnecessarily cold, California always was so sweet, so Yorkie grew a soft spot for him. They made cookies for each other during the first stages of their friendship too :)
9.) This one is popular, but New York has been sleeping better ever since he and California got together. Usually it's bc they cuddle, but on other nights, California either reads children's books to Yorkie or they watch a 2000s classic movie together so they can go to sleep.
I definitely have more for them, but these are all I can remember right now 😅 You just fueled my CaliYork heart; I hope you like these hcs as much as I enjoyed remembering & writing them out :D
Hey,, if you guys have any Caliyork/Goldenrose headcanons, hand them over (if you so decide to, I would love to hear them <3 !)

bands / style of music the choir listen to
Ocean-The Cranberries (not to sure with her). I feel like they both relate to Zombie far to much (like their parents fighting maybe ??)but also classical so (Mozart but more dramatic so Wagner and Strauss )
Penny -The Cranberries /Kate bush/of monster and men? Oldies / pop rock with a bit of indie and synth
( I feel like the commune would probably have a lot of 70s to 90s music or something )
Constance - Beyoncé (she seems like the type to belt I’m a sing lady ) /ABBA
singalong type of songs you’d play at a party
Ricky - David Bowie /Elton John / maybe a bit of Queen ?classic 80s
Noel - Gershwin / old jazz (but secretly ) Coldplay or indie something ?
Mischa - Simple Plan / smash mouth ( early 2000s style stuff )God must hate me is peek mischa angst
and songs I think of for the whole choir
At the carnival /Wars- Of monsters and men
in limbo (is that what we’re calling it ) -chain by Fleetwood Mac
i have been WAITING for an excuse to talk about songs i think fit Ocean and are also songs i make amvs to in my head that center around her, so i’m using this to add those songs
this is gonna be long because OF COURSE i’m including text evidence in the form of lyrics
apologies in advance
Venom by Kairikibear (ft. v flower)
The recipe for my heart is flavored with attention-seeking;
I’m a nirvana junkie
I pretend more and more to be strong
And end up face-down in the mud
Gulping down the poison
Feeling pain, crying, there’s no coughing up this veno-venom
Goodbye
The Main Character by Will Wood
C’mon, give me more love
So God forbid I'm seen just as an average human being
I mean, imagine if protagonists just died in the first scene
I'm the gap between a tragedy and comedy
Don't come at me
I'm the main character and you have to like me
Top of My School by Katherine Lynn-Rose
But if I hadn’t earned a dollar
What would you think of your dear daughter?
Would it be pity or dishonor
To ensue?
And if I failed to earn blue ribbon
How could I ever be forgiven?
Tell me what love would still be given
From you
Dirty Imbecile by The Happy Fits
Love my mum and love my daddy
Sure they messed me up but that is
Voices that they left inside of my head
Darling, dearest, don't you see
I'm tough, I'm smart, I'm bourgeoisie?
And I'll play out this lie until we're all dead
Bugbear by Chloe Moriondo
I feel so brain dead next to you
It's not like you intended to
Hurt me or make me feel this way
And I'm not tryin' to complain
But it just sucks to try and explain
Why I feel like this every day
Sin Triangle by Sidney Gish
Two-faced bitches never lie
And therefore I never lie
Diagram this sin triangle
But the biblical kind and not sine, because
I don't know just what to say
And a sickness by another name
Wouldn't be sweet either but
With luck, it would at least, like, not suck
It Should’ve Been Me by RIP (ft. Solaria)
Caught in my fantasies
Don’t look inside pandora’s box
Push down the jealousy
No, nobody needs to know
Please don’t think less of me!
I’m but a lonely soul, you see
Oh, what a shame I’ve gone insane
A Lesson In Being Genuine by MonochroMenace (ft. Solaria)
Tell myself it’s okay cause I’m self aware
Excuse all of my actions cause deep down I care
Tomorrow I’ll work on being better I swear
Anything that I can do to keep them there
Appetite of a People-Pleaser by GHOST (ft. v flower)
Now that I’ve become a full-course identity
Take a bite of me
I hope that I’ve become a favorable delicacy
That I’m worth something
I’ll eat ‘em all, the thoughts of anyone I’ll ever meet
Just to make them happy
Wondering why I’m a burden, or so it seems
Aren’t I everything?

When you get this, post 5 songs 🎵 you actually listen to. Then, send this ask to 10 of your favorite people on here. ✨
When @summershot tags you, there is no other choice but to comply! Five songs, five songs... this is tough, because I am a music junkie and my Spotify feeds my writing muse.
Obligatory playlist plug for the 40 chapter JaySteph saga True Love Waits can be found here. (Is this considered cheating? 😬)
Okay, I'm just gonna list the five songs that I have had long-term love affairs with instead:
1.) Knives Out by Waajeed feat. Monica Blaire - This is a Radiohead cover that I have been absolutely obsessed with. It's a radically different take on the song that gives it an entirely new meaning and feel.
2.) Talk Show Host by Radiohead - Speaking of Radiohead, this specific song has been a longtime favorite of mine since 1997. This longer version is probably the best one that the band has released since then.
3.) Things I Remember from Earth - Alternate Version by Maybird - This band is just incredible. They're a smaller indie group from northern New York and out of all their songs, this one is my fave. It's kind of haunting and tells such a unique story.
4.) Ænima by Tool - I remember being a young lil Pioneer in the mid 90s and seeing the stop-motion music video for this song. I was so morbidly fascinated with how disturbing it was. My love for Tool began there and to this day they're still one of my top 5 favorite groups.
5.) I Need You by America - I absolutely adore this song. It's a classic 70's slow rock ballad that just really tugs at the heartstrings of lost love. It's also my partners ringtone, because I'm cheesy as hell like that.
No tags, because over half the people I would have tagged already have been, lol. Feel free to post your own list, I will listen!!
