Ooooh question 12 for any and/or all of your DND characters?
askmeme
What perfectly-normal-to-them-thing does your OC do that confuses/pisses off/terrifies their neighbors?
Benny: Ironically, it's actually NOT the dire boar or the polymorphed adventurers or the planebound helldogs or the poison crops. Their neighbors, in the very small and extremely isolated and otherwise legitimately completely normal mountain village of Arrowfelle, know about all those things.
They consider Benny's family to be upstanding and dependable members of the community--they're generous with what magic they have, they're polite and down-to-earth, they've never once charged for any kind of medicine or healing potion. They're good neighbors. Not too proud to accept help from others, either. Benny dated a nice boy from a neighboring farm for a few years when she was younger, they ended things on good terms, nobody had any issue with her being a tiefling.
Away from home, however, the fact that (around a trusted party, anyway) she casually speaks--and writes her personal notes and letters home in--conversational Infernal openly and like it's no big deal? Tends to freak folks out.
(On a much pettier note, the fact that she calls her dog "my love" can weird people out until they realize that in Benny's mind that's an inherently familial form of address--it's what her MOM calls her, don't be gross.)
Rinda: Goddamn paladins always trying to adopt my stablehands--git! go on, git! marge, get the broom, we got another one--
(Rinda and her wife Talet own a small home in a largely inaccessible stretch of rugged mountain--they don't have neighbors, and it's by choice.)
Atri: She's a genuinely devout cleric of the Goddess of Death, which is enough to freak a lot of people out--even though Atri herself doesn't do the like, emo Aura Of Menace thing. She cares deeply about the dead and the undead, and believes very earnestly that death is a natural part of life and not to be feared. Essentially--it's not that she DOES anything, it's that people get Weird when they learn you're the director of a funeral home.
Kite: Do I need to say it.
Sedge: She's an EXTREMELY martial druid (Sedge in the background: I'M NOT A FUCKING DRUID) so like. Circle druids see this girl who legitimately hates nature (not in like, a pokemon villain way, in a "camping sounds like hell no thanks" way) and it's off-putting. Meanwhile, other sword jocks see her casting sunlight spells and summoning vines. And it's off-putting.
Lorne: Miss Lorne Cooper has been requested to stop slaughtering her enemies with a battleaxe on school grounds, as while her peers emphasize that the level of bloodlust is extremely understandable given a career in academia, it makes the undergrads nervous.
Concorde: STOP FUCKING MY SISTER--
Honestly, legitimately I think the thing that other sailors get weirded out by is that Concorde is like..........normal friends? with a lot of the sex workers at her usual ports of call. She's also a regular client of many of them! But there's a lot of girls that she knew as a kid or something--or, frankly, several that she recognizes are her "type" in a way that would quickly turn romantic for her, and she recognizes that that's not fair or healthy when what they were proposing was a business transaction.
So she's not good for locker room talk.
And then also I think some people find it a little odd the wistfully reverent way she talks about her naval patron--it's too weirdly devoted for a simple benefactor, and, for those who are aware that she's a warlock but don't know the story behind her, the level of fervent loyalty looks downright creepy.
(When an eerily bone-white tiefling warlock with blood-red highlights closes her eyes and smiles faintly and talks about her 'patron' and his 'good opinion' of her and how she 'owes him everything good in her life' and only wants to 'repay his gifts' by 'achieving something great in his name,' smart people start backing away slowly.)
(He's an ancient bronze dragon who saved her life when she was a child--he's not her master, in her heart he's her father. She just wants to make him proud someday. She doesn't realize she already has.)

🗑️ a scrapped element of the blog
When I was developing the backgrounds for my OCs, there was a moment when I debated adding to SR's backstory a tragic / bad element, since he's the only one among them who, all in all, had a decent life without too much drama (for Ricks standards, at least). It would have also been in line with the kind of characters I usually write, because tragic backstories are my guilty pleasure xD
I eventually decided against it both because I wanted to try something different, but also because I wanted a character who could still fit Rick standards when it comes to ruthlessness and asshole-ness, but who also was capable of emotional intelligence underneath. SR is the kind of person who hasn't gone through extreme trauma, but he has enough tact that he can be a support for those who have (see his relationship with AR, for example).
Don't get me wrong, he's not a good guy, he has done terrible things and doesn't feel guilty about them in the least, but he has a loose moral code. And he actively tries to be a decent person with the ones he cares for.
I liked this balance between decency and Rickness, and I knew that it would have been hard to develop it if I had given him some big bad event in his backstory. So, he's the only one of my characters who still has his family, who remained in good terms with his Diane even if they divorced and whose Beth actually has a good family life (also, no Jerry in the picture, so maybe that helped xD).
⚖️ something stuck in limbo
I still haven't properly figured out how I want my Morty to feel about the whole Rick Prime ordeal. In the show, they don't really delve into the consequences of him finding out why Rick chose his original dimension specifically, nor how this changes everything that Rick has chosen to do after.
I'm debating whether Morty would see Rick taking him away after they accidentally Cronenberged his dimension as a sign that Rick had come to care for him or if he would see it as Rick wanting to keep something that of Rick Prime in the hope that he might get an interest. Knowing how forgiving Morty is, especially when it comes to Rick, he would probably pick the first option, but I'm toying with the idea that, deep down, he has doubts. And said doubts come out whenever he has one of his bad moments.
I just love both options, the idea of Weird Rick being something that eventually makes Rick and Morty closer and also more on the same level and the idea that instead it adds to the things that have been creating a rift between them. I'm really torn here!
Tho, knowing me, I'll probably end up figuring out a way to mix them because I can't choose xD
💚 for a coming idea that still needs development
I have this verse for Summer I never got to use, but that I'd love to develop sometimes. Basically, after the whole Space Beth reveal, she decides to ditch Earth and join her space mom's crew. You could call it her Star Wars like adventure verse, I guess xD
In this verse, she still is her sassy, mostly detached self, but she would definitely grow into becoming truly confident, into believing in herself and her skills. And she would do that on her own, not through a reflection of Rick's approval or anyone else's.
It's a version of Summer who has found what she wants to do with her life, what she wants from him and also where she belongs, even while still burdened with everything she has learnt through her experience with Rick and her family.

Hey guys! Mo Mo here. I'll be your mun/your guide for this lovely little blog space. It is a side blog, so unfortunately you won't see my name on your followers list. (@mo-mo-and-porkchop is what will show.)
A little about me, I was born in '85 - old as shit for here I know. I'm a gothy, nerdy, socially awkward, busy, hot mess of a human. I have a family and a FT job, so my activity on here can get spotty. I do run on a queue and I do replies mostly from oldest draft to newest unless my muse is high for specific threads/muses.
I hate that I have to add this in, but I feel like it has caused issues in the past - I have OCD, ADHD, and BPD. I try very hard not to bring it up, but I struggle with these on a daily basis. To top it off I had a TBI at the beginning of COVID that has caused short term memory loss. Because of these afflictions, I may forget things and ask about them more than once. I may seem distant, but am just struggling to socialize in any form. I am awkward and weird, but I am a great person to get to know. I apologize in advance as I know it can be annoying to deal with me as I cope with life and my diagnosis. I am bad at social cues in RL and they are fucking impossible for me to comprehend on here. All I ask is that you are patient with me and if there is anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that bothers you please come to me and let me know.
As for writing, I am a slow potato because I am a firm believer in quality over quantity. I will never rush anything. Ever. I go through phases of high muse and low muse. Of busy life and jack shit going on.  I honestly don't care if you reply in a day, week, or a month. I am here for the leisurely hobby of writing and I want it to be fun for both sides. I do have disco by request and can be found in the background of both for OOC stuff.
I am semi-selective and I generally write with one muse FC at a time. Meaning, if I am writing/shipping with a muse then I tend to not take on other muses of that same FC. It is more of an organization thing for me since I have memory issues (especially short term) from a head injury that makes it difficult to keeps things in order with more than one. I also tend not to write against FC of my muses, but I don't have a whole lot so that doesn't usually affect anything.
I'm not a super big plotter. I like to get a basic idea and wing it. I will very much go with the flow of things. As long as you don't completely write my character feel free to do what you need to move things along.
I don't care about formatting - I am fully mobile (90% on the app), so it is lost to me anyway. I try to match style and length, but I neither have Photoshop, nor know how to use it, so my icons/gifs come from searches. Credit goes to owners. I will also switch between using gifs and not, only using what I feel best fits a thread. If I can't find one, I don't use them.
I do not write smut, incest, or pedophilia. Other than that I really don't have any triggers. If something comes up that makes me uncomfortable, I'm a big girl. I will come to you to plot around it and talk it out. I will write things leading up to smut and will politely ask that we fade to black after that. I am open to write quite a bit of lead up and am considering dabbling in some smut, but I have to be comfortable with the mun and our muses to do so.
That being said, I LOVE SHIPPING! Idc if it is platonic, familial, romantic, frenemies, enemies to lovers, unrequited, fwb, etc. I love them all. This blog is very shipcentric.
I LOVE to write dark and toxic things. Enough said.
In general don't be a dick. I don't care about your race, gender, sexual preferences, nada. All are welcome here. In that aspect, I don't care what pronouns you want to use for me.  I call everyone dude and bro regardless, so call me whatever you want.
Some last minute things: asks are always open, muses will be random if not specified, I'm only selective against one liners, (Sorry, but I can't not write at least a paragraph or two and one liners can get boring pretty quick for me so I take them on a case by case basis.), and here's some link for you to browse.
Verses
Sidenote: my verse page hasn't been updated in a quick minute so if there's any questions feel free to jump in my ask or DMs. Also, some muses are highly problematic and not nice. Please be advised when writing with them that things will not always be sunshine and unicorns.
(All of my muses are verse fluid which means as long as I'm familiar with a fandom or plot line, I will tweak their story to fit anywhere. Because of that bios may not be up to date.)

you say you're picky about who you follow, can you explain more? sorry if I'm bothering you!
Tumblr media
You aren’t bothering me. I started answering by explaining what makes me decide not to follow, but it came out pretty negative. Instead, this is what makes me want to follow, or to take emphasis off of what is honestly just a number, what makes me want to write with you. Under a readmore for length and unpopular opinions and a healthy amount of venting, probably.
Quick disclaimer - not everyone’s blog is for everyone. It’s okay for people to have different preferences and styles, and my preferring ‘x’ doesn’t make ‘x’ any better than ‘y’ or vice versa. I’m not plenty of people’s cup of tea either. Please keep in mind that we’re all just here to have fun.
I follow people who write genuinely. Any sort of purple prose, even constantly saying “the female” instead of a muse’s name, or “(gemstone) (synonym for eyes)”, is a turn-off. I like people whose posts aren’t composed by playing pin-the-tail-on-the-thesaurus, and who don’t bold/italicize/underline every other word, use weird spacing, or use strange glow fonts or scripts. This detracts from the emotional punch that a reply should be because now I have to decipher whatever the heck it is you are trying to say. I like people with themes that are easy to navigate and easy to read. Links that are easy to find and colors that contrast (light text on dark background or vice versa) are wonderful. I love when people focus on the content of their writing rather than trying to shoehorn in headache-inducing effects or “fancy” words that only serve to make their writing stiff and robotic.
I write a lot of dark content, but I’m aware of a subset of roleplay culture that believes writing about a subject automatically equates to condoning that subject in real life. I appreciate people who recognize that exploring a subject in a fictional, harmless avenue with consensual partners in properly tagged and read-more’d posts is a perfectly normal and appropriate way to process feelings or past experiences with these dark subjects in a safe and controlled manner. Otherwise, all of us Naruto fandom folks would be advocates for child soldiers, child abuse, torture, murder, and so on. If I see anything in someone’s rules along the lines of “I won’t talk to you/interact with you if you roleplay x subject”, I’m not interested.
I like roleplay blogs that write! I like seeing a person’s writing on the first page or two without having to click through dozens upon dozens of pictures, gifsets, or other ooc posts. I don’t like seeing whitewashing (a white faceclaim for an obviously non-white muse), or lots of negativity/drama. There are a couple other red flags for muns but they are quite specific and I won’t get into them here.
I like characters that are fleshed-out and well-developed. Some ooc-ness is not a big deal to me, it’s more about the effort you put into your portrayal. An in-depth about and/or verses page is very appealing. OCs with consistent, plausible histories are very appealing. I often see histories with huge gaps or information that doesn’t make sense. If your OC shinobi absconded from their home village, they are a missing-nin - a criminal - and cannot simply immigrate to another hidden village and be accepted with open arms. Stacking a plethora of disorders onto your muse then being unable to adequately explain how these issues affect them shows me you don’t really understand your character or the seriousness of psychological disorders (one example - fears =/= phobias). I love OCs with muns who genuinely think about all the ins and outs of their characters and develop a valid and credible background for them. If you’re an OC who follows me and suddenly gets a couple of anons asking nitpicky questions about their history, that’s probably me!
I tend to prefer blogs with a single character over a multi-muse. I usually only follow multi-muses if I know the mun personally beforehand or if your muses are particularly intriguing.
I prefer writing with characters I know! I love AUs so I am one hundred percent happy to roleplay with an unfamiliar character provided they have verses I can latch on to. It can be a struggle if you’re an anime blog without much of an about page. Or you might also be an awesome Naruto blog, but if Gaara has no chance of interacting with you except in an AU (which is the case for many characters from the Founders Era, or various minor non-Suna characters), I’m hesitant to approach unless you have some kind of verses page or approach me with an idea.
Here are some things that don’t matter to me - whether or not you use icons, whether you use regular vs. small text, who else you roleplay with, what genres you like to write, how long you’ve been writing, what pairings you like, and most details about you as a mun, in general. I’m here to write with other people who are here to write, and want to do that in the most enjoyable, fulfilling way possible.
This all might paint me as an unfriendly dick, but when it comes down to it, it’s a nice feeling being able to recognize every single person on your dash and have an idea in mind for how to roleplay with them. At the end of the day, it’s all just numbers. I’m still happy to roleplay with folks I’m not mutuals with in a more casual manner, and sometimes those small interactions can lead to long-lasting relationships. As always, folks are free to message me for whatever reason, either through asks or IMs.
