ᥫ᭡. that time you got period blood in rafe's bed.
warnings: nothing but fluff and that time of the month shenanigans
a/n: brain wouldn't shut up tonight, so here's some soft rafe cameron for you girlies. 🤍
You wake up to that familiar cramping sensation and immediately know.
Your eyes snap open in horror, taking in the expensive Egyptian cotton sheets beneath you – Rafe's sheets. Rafe's very white, very expensive sheets that now have a very obvious stain.
"Shit," you whisper, mortification flooding your system as you try to quietly extract yourself from his arms without waking him.
"Mmm, where are you going." His sleep-rough voice catches you mid-escape attempt. Before you can stop him, he's pulling you back against his chest, nuzzling into your neck.
"Rafe, no – I need to—" But it's too late. You feel the exact moment he realizes, his body stilling behind you.
"I'm so sorry," you start rambling, trying to wiggle free. "I know how expensive these sheets are. I'll replace them, I swear—"
"Hey." His voice has that edge to it, the one that means you're being ridiculous. "Look at me."
You shake your head, face burning. "I ruined your sheets."
"Baby girl." There's amusement in his voice now. "You really think I give a fuck about some sheets?" His lips find your temple. "You hurting?"
The gentle question beneath his usual rough exterior makes your chest tight. You nod slightly.
"Alright, here's what's happening." It's his business voice, the one that means no arguments. "You're gonna take a hot shower, steal whatever you want from my closet, and I'm grabbing you some aspirin." He pauses. "And those chocolate strawberries in the fridge? Yeah, those weren't for tomorrow's country club bullshit."
You look up at him, surprised. "You knew?"
The corner of his mouth quirks up. "Princess, you really think I don't have your cycle tracked? Who do you think keeps restocking the tampons under my sink?"
You resist the urge to roll your eyes. Of course he'd be smug about being thoughtful. Your heart then does that stupid flutter thing it always does when he shows he actually pays attention.
Later, curled up on his ridiculously expensive couch, wearing his softest hoodie, you watch him navigate your heating pad with intense focus. The chocolate strawberries are perfect, and every time a cramp hits, his hand finds your lower back like it's instinct.
"Better?" he murmurs against your hair.
"Mmm." You sink further into him. "Still sorry about the sheets though."
He snorts. "Baby, I could buy new sheets every day for the next decade and not dent my wallet." His arms tighten possessively. "Now shut up about the sheets and eat your chocolate."
You turn to look at him, this man who tracks your period in his phone but would probably murder anyone who knew about it. This version of Rafe Cameron – the one who handles period stains and midnight cramps with the same intensity he handles everything else – is just for you.
"I love you," you whisper.
"Yeah?" That signature smirk plays at his lips. "Prove it by stopping this guilt shit about my sheets."
But his kiss is gentle, and when another cramp hits, his hands are already there, steady and sure.
What Figure Eight would never believe: how the infamous Rafe Cameron keeps tampons in his bathroom and period tracking apps on his phone.
But that's okay – let them have their trust fund tyrant. This softer version is yours alone.

@sorrowsick • Zahrosa sent : (DRAG) for sender to drag a finger up or down receiver's back. received : witch
She flinches, shoulders jerking away from the touch. Mixing bowl clatters to the counter, and she’s certain a bruise will form from where her hip slammed into the edge in her instinctive need to get away. She clutches the lip of the counter, trying to remember to breathe.
In the same instant, Castle is between them, twice his usual size, too-many-teeth bared in a snarl and a discordant growl reverberating in his chest. He is—barely—refraining from tearing the sorceress’ throat out, tearing her arm from her shoulder, but should Zahrosa make another move toward Mazie, he will loose hell.
Mazie usually tries to give people the benefit of the doubt when their touch triggers her, but she has no patience left for Zahrosa’s antics. “Get out of my kitchen,” she demands, voice trembling.

🍪 - cookie encounters • closed starter for @vincexmatthews
Jenn was used to seeing a few familiar faces come into Cookie Cabin, whether they wanted something for themself or something for someone else. Either way, it was nice to see someone whose company she enjoyed. "Didn't expect to see you here today, what can I get for you? Need something for the office?" Jenn asked Vince with a smile as she moved to lean against the counter, ready to help out with whatever he needed.
#i know you said you needed more for him so i hope this is okay! <3#vince.#face to face • and i'll show you every version of yourself tonight.

😶 + if YOU could get with any of Cass' lovers, who would it be and why?
I suppose turnabout is fair play. This is an easy answer, I just hope she doesn't come after for me after I state my choice. She may be small, but she has fire. Which makes her more dangerous than you can imagine. And not only do I value our friendship, I value my life. That being said, of her lovers I would choose Bucky.
Strong silent type, gorgeous blue eyes, that body of his...but I'm not entirely shallow to just say that because he's so handsome. I know he has his demons and he's working through those, and he shows he cares in his own fashion. Plus there is that hint of awkwardness because he hasn't dated in a long while. That uncertainty and yet some kind of certainty of knowing what to do...there is an appeal there. He would most certainly be my choice of Cass' lovers I'd get with if I could.

If Jenn was being honest with herself, she couldn't believe that she decided to step out of her comfort zone and attend an event at a club. But, this party seemed like a good opportunity to mix and mingle, finding herself surrounded by Merrockites who were having a good time. She was sitting alone as she took a hefty bite of spinach dip with her tortilla chip. Jenn's attention moved when she saw the other, a smile forming on her lips. "Not at all! Feel free to sit down. I could use the company," she spoke as she moved her chair a little bit to let the other have some room. "How are you enjoying the party?"
What: Singles’ Party
When: February 11
Who: 0/6 **capping at six! But please let me know if you want a closed starter *
Lara hadn't been much for dating since she became a mom. Of course, her life was pretty much turned on its head after getting her divorce and coming to terms with herself. Still, she had an opportunity to get out there and socialize. Even her daughter told her she deserved to be happy. Glancing around, she smiled, nodding at whomever she passed by. And it also meant she needed to get to know more people around her. "Excuse me," she signed, while mouthing out the words. "Is this seat taken?"

Alt version of this post bc too many people asked for both <3
It's Saturday night and, like almost every Saturday night, Eddie wishes he didn't have to be at some jock party. The flashing lights, the scent of cheap mixed drinks, the incredibly mediocre loud music... And worst of all, the fucking jocks. Everywhere.
'Eddie!'
He looks up to find Steve, with a dopey smile on his face, basically skipping towards him and throwing his arms around his neck. Oh. He didn't know Steve still went to parties like those. Hadn't seen him at any of them in a while. But as soon as he gets wrapped up in an enthusiastic full-body hug, he decides there's one jock, and one jock only, that he doesn't mind running into at those parties.
'Eddie, what're you doin' here?' There's an unfocused look in his eyes and he wobbles on his legs a little bit, grabbing tighter onto Eddie for support. The touch burns through Eddie's t-shirt and he tries to ignore the shiver running down his spine.
'I didn't know you liked parties!' Steve drops his voice, slurring: 'I thought you hated the jocks.'
Eddie can't help but smile. 'I hate all jocks but one, big boy,' he tells Steve. 'Not here to party, only to get some cash.' He rattles with the metal lunchbox in his hands to illustrate his point. 'Can you let me go now so I can get on with my business, pretty please?'
'Noooo,' Steve says with an exaggerated pout. 'I'm too happy you're here! Dance with me!'
Eddie chuckles. 'I don't think you're in any state to dance right now. Jesus, Stevie, I don't think I've ever seen you this wasted before. Thought you were planning to pick up a girl tonight?'
'I was,' Steve says, suddenly sounding oddly serious. 'But it doesn't matter. Just needed to forget. The rum helped, too.' He frowns. 'Til you showed up.'
'Forget what?' Eddie asks, trying to make sense of this drunken string of words.
Something happens; something that's been happening quite often lately. Steve's eyes flash downwards, just for a second, right to where Eddie's lips are.
Eddie's heartbeat involuntarily picks up speed.
'What did you need to forget, Steve?' Eddie asks again.
'Can't tell you,' Steve mumbles so softly that Eddie can barely make it out over the loud music. 'I don't wanna make you feel guilty. I'm not judging you, y'know. 'S fine.'
He abruptly lets go of Eddie and takes a step away from him, stumbling right into some girl who pushes him back with an annoyed scoff; if Eddie weren't still standing right behind him, he would've fallen on his ass for sure.
'Alright, you're not making any sense tonight, big boy, but I can't in good conscience let you stay here by yourself. How 'bout I'll drive you home?'
Eddie glances at his watch. If he hurries, he can probably still be back to do what he came here for before the good part of the party is over. He does kinda need the cash.
'Can't,' says Steve. 'Can't go home with you.' Something in his voice is breaking and suddenly there are tears in his eyes, and Eddie still doesn't understand what's wrong; he feels like he's overlooking something huge, something that should be obvious.
'Let's just go outside to talk, then?' he suggests.
'Can't. Dance with me, Eddie.'
But when Eddie starts gently tugging Steve towards the open door leading to the garden, Steve easily lets himself be led outside. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath when the cool night air reaches his lungs, as if one gulp of fresh air will instantly make him sober up. But he's still swaying on his feet, making Eddie grab onto him tighter.
Eddie likes to think of himself as moderately strong, but unfortunately, hauling 180 pounds of muscled jock around is starting to take its toll on him. He spots a bench in a secluded corner of the garden and guides Steve towards it.
'This better?' he asks.
'Yeah,' Steve breathes out. Even now that they're both sitting down, Steve keeps clinging onto him. 'Look at the stars, Eddie.'
Eddie looks up at the scattering of lights twinkling far above them - but he can feel Steve's eyes still burning into his face.
When he directs his gaze back to the guy sitting next to him, Steve's face is even closer than before. The starlight is reflected in his hazy eyes, tiny specks of silver hidden in various shades of brown and black.
'I wish I could kiss you,' Steve whispers, looking at Eddie with nothing but admiration behind that glassy drunk gaze.
Eddie almost forgets to breathe. He knows that it seemed like he and Steve were headed exactly toward something like this for a while now, but he still can hardly believe that it is real. That Steve Harrington is really looking at him like he's just as precious as the stars in the sky above them.
He brings up a hand, gently caresses Steve's soft cheek.
'Maybe you don't have to wish,' he whispers back, unable to stop his eyes from flashing towards Steve's beautiful lips for a moment. 'Tomorrow. When you're not drunk anymore. If you still remember this.'
'No.' Steve shakes his head, so fiercely it makes his hair flap in all directions and his complexion at least two shades paler. 'Can't.'
'Why do you keep saying that, Steve?' Eddie asks softly.
'Cause.' For a moment Eddie thinks Steve is gonna grab his ass, but then... he randomly frees Eddie's handkerchief – the one with the skulls – from his back pocket.
'Cause of the Russians.'
Eddie can only stare at him in confusion.
'They tied me up,' Steve all but whispers. Eddie hates how small and broken his voice suddenly sounds.
He has always known – broadly speaking – about what happened to Steve and Robin miles beneath Starcourt last year. He's never actually heard Steve talk about the details, though. All he knows is that he and Robin were captured by Russian spies and somehow made it out alive. He could always see how difficult it was for Steve to talk about it whenever it came up, but he never wanted to pry. And now here they are, at some goddamn high school jock party of all places, and all of a sudden Steve willingly brings it up.
'I was with Robin,' Steve continues, still in that scared and broken voice. 'And they tied us to a chair. We couldn't move. And they – they hurt me. They hit me. 'Til I was bleeding all over. I thought I was gonna die. Robin thought I was dead.'
'Jesus Christ, Steve,' Eddie breathes out, tightening his grip around Steve's torso.
'So I can't,' Steve mumbles, holding up Eddie's handkerchief as if it's some kind of logical explanation for whatever it is he's trying to tell Eddie.
'Wh- What?'
'I know what it means, Eddie,' he says, as if he's even remotely making sense right now. 'You know John?'
'Who the hell is John?' Eddie only keeps finding himself more and more lost in this conversation.
'My cousin,' Steve says, like it's obvious, like he's ever talked about some cousin named John to Eddie before. 'The one in New York. He knows all about that shit, right? He sends me the good magazines sometimes when my parents aren't home. That's how I know.'
'Know what?'
Steve only waves around with that stupid handkerchief again.
'You're flagging, aren't ya? You like pain. Like BS... BM...'
Eddie feels his jaw drop.
'What the fuck are you talking about?' he asks. 'It's – this is a metal thing. It looks metal. I literally have no idea what you're – flagging?'
Now Steve's face finally mirrors the confusion Eddie has been feeling for the past ten minutes.
'Are you serious?' he asks, for one second showing more clarity in his eyes than Eddie has seen all evening.
Eddie nods.
'So it's not...' Steve stops himself, swallows, frowns. 'You're not into, like, hurting people and shit?'
And finally, it all clicks together in Eddie's mind: the repeated chorus of I can't, the story about the Russians, the goddamn handkerchief... Flagging. BDSM.
'Why the hell would I get off on hurting you, Steve?' is all he can get out of his mouth.
And Steve honest-to-Satan starts giggling; it sounds so relieved that Eddie kinda feels like giggling too, scary metal image be damned.
'I dunno, it's more common than you think,' Steve mumbles. 'I wouldn't judge you, alright? But I knew I could never give you that. No matter how much I like you. And then you'd get bored of me.'
'Oh, Steve,' Eddie whispers out. 'You don't need to worry 'bout that, I swear. For all I care, we can have the most vanilla sex in the world forever. Or never have sex at all. As long as it's with you... I'm good.' Eddie cringes as soon as the words leave his mouth: it sounds too cheesy, too sincere. He kinda hopes Steve will have forgotten this particular part of their conversation tomorrow morning.
But Steve doesn't look at him like he thinks it's stupid at all: his eyes are wide and he's smiling a soft smile.
'You sure? You won't get bored?'
Eddie chuckles. Now that he's being too goddamn cheesy anyway, he might as well double down on it. 'I can't imagine getting bored of getting to hold this body in a million fucking years. In any way you'll have me.'
Steve heaves out a relieved sigh before he buries his head against Eddie's chest.
'Can I bring you home, now?' Eddie asks.
There's a twinkle in Steve's eyes when he lifts his head again.
'Ooohhh... You wanna have the most vanilla sex in the world with me now?'
A chortle escapes Eddie's lungs.
'Um, maybe tomorrow, when you're not drunk off your ass,' he answers with a wink. 'For tonight, just lemme get you to bed, 'kay?'
'Okay, big boy,' Steve answers, and Eddie can't help but laugh before he presses a kiss against Steve's forehead.

@sorrowsick • Zahrosa sent : “Someone, somewhere has failed you miserably. You were supposed to be loved, protected and cared for but you never were.“
Mazie’s initial response is a mere raising of her eyebrows, but the Nightmare next to her takes offense. Castle huffs, somewhere between a laugh and a growl, and hauls himself to his feet. It is not a small dog he takes the form of, as his shoulders come just below Mazie’s hips. She rests her hand between his shoulder blades; part comfort for herself, part reminder to him to behave. The witch before her unsettles her in ways she struggles to comprehend, and she knows Castle is picking up on that.
“You are not wrong that my training has been… slapdash,” she says slowly, “but that does not mean I was left unloved. I could not ask for a better mum and dad, better siblings, and Madeline did the best she could with the knowledge she had.” Madeline had bound her and Castle, after all.
Mazie tips her head to the Nightmare. “As for unprotected, well. I doubt anyone could argue that.” The Nightmare grins, and it is not the grin of a dog, with too many, too long, too sharp teeth.

closed starter for @xjoellasuh!
Jenn had seen an advertisement for the event over at From Brush to Canvas and thought it would be a good opportunity for her and Joella to spend some time together, especially since it was Mother's Day. Though Jenn was still learning to accept Joella's career choice and decision to not follow the path she had laid out, she wanted to repair the relationship with her daughter since she was back in town now. So, she was happy when she saw that Joella accepted the invitation to go to the Mother's Day event.
Jenn had been waiting outside the gallery, wanting to walk in with Joella. A smile lifted up on her features when she saw her first born arriving. "I'm so glad you could make it!" she spoke cheerfully, moving to give Joella a hug. "Ready to go in?"

Homecoming (Kenji Sato x Singer!Reader)
A/N: I decided to start something like a series. I'll rework a more detailed version of Captured at a later date.
Word was that Kenji Sato was returning to Japan. The sun rose, the sky was clear and the day seemed just right. Of course, you already knew he was coming back as you were the first person he told about his big move. You were excited to see your long time friend again, but things were different. You both were different. Kenji had become more boastful, the hard work he had put in paid off and he was reveling in the attention. He was a man now, not the boy you had known.
You had also changed, launching your singing career and becoming somewhat of an idol. Although you called yourself a musician and a singer, your fanbase rivaled that of idols. You remained humble, finding the spotlight to be too much and keeping your public appearances to concerts and TV programs. The contrast between you two was nearly like night and day. However, you didn’t let that concern you. All that mattered was getting to reunite with Kenji again.
Kenji had arrived the day before, but he needed some time to sort out his living situation as he told you. Not to pry, you decided to make plans with him before he started to pile on work. You called him with a video call, smiling at his sleepy expression.
“Don’t tell me jetlag kicked the Kenji Sato’s ass” you laughed.
“Yeah, yeah. You try taking a red eye half way across the world and then talk” Kenji yawned.
Even if he was a bit disheveled, he somehow made it look attractive.
“Uh huh, and who was it that said ‘the second I get off the plane we are going places?’” you asked.
“I know, I forgot about the press meeting. I’ll make it up to you somehow” Kenji sighed.
Naturally, the moment he returned to Japan the press was foaming at the mouth to get an interview with him. He had his hands tied as he couldn’t deny the publicity and the chance to look good.
“You can make it up to me with…. Okonomiyaki” you said.
“What? Okonomiyaki? You realize you are getting to chill with the Kenji Sato right? We could have anything in all of Japan! Sashimi, Fugu, Wagyu! And you want Okonomiyaki?” Kenji chuckled.
“If I wanted any of that, I’d get it myself. Besides, don’t you remember after every game we’d go out and get Okonomiyaki? You, your mom and dad, my mom’s and I would go to a local place” you began.
“Yeah, and dad would try to flip the whole thing,” Kenji sighed as he remembered.
“And all the toppings would fly off. I smelled like Bonito for three days” you laughed.
Kenji grinned, looking softer now. It made you happy seeing him like this. It reminded you of the past when he would be glued to your side.
“You think you had it bad? My uniform smelled like Okonomiyaki sauce for a week!” he laughed.
You couldn’t help but laugh, recalling the tragedy of Kenji’s baseball uniform. Thankfully, your moms helped Emiko get the scent out in time for his game. As the laughter subsided, you had a silly smile on your face as you looked at Kenji.
“Well, I still want Okonomiyaki” you said.
“Fine, how about afterward?” he suggested.
“It’s gotta be before my concert” you reminded him.
“Shit, that’s right. You have a concert tonight” Kenji hissed.
You had to resist the frown from showing on your face. Of course he had forgotten, Kenji Sato was a busy man. So busy he couldn’t keep track of your schedule, even after you shared it with him.
“It’s alright, we can do it another day. Maybe when we both aren’t so busy” you sighed.
Kenji looked a bit panicked, his steel blue eyes going wide before he cleared his throat.
“N-No, no. I want to do it as soon as possible. I mean… I want to see you. In person” he said.
You hung your head low and sighed. Honestly, hearing him say that made it hard for you to meet his eyes. You slowly raised your head and gave him a wry smile.
“Alright, we can try,” you agreed.
“Maybe Kenji Sato could get VIP backstage access to the concert and surprise you?” he smirked.
“Uh-huh, I’ll let the staff know to let you in. Just don’t make yourself at home in my dressing room. I have important things in there” you rolled your eyes at him.
“Things more important than me?” he teased.
“Oh please, you know there isn’t anything more important to me than you. Well, maybe my bass guitar” you snickered.
Kenji started laughing too, relaxed that you had forgiven him and given him another chance.
“I’ll see you tonight, you’re going to be great,” he said.
“Hit a home run at the press meeting” you said back.
The call ended there, as both of you were called away for the evening. You had been in your dressing room preparing for the concert. On a large monitor was the press meeting where Kenji was… well, himself. It made your stomach tighten over how cocky he was being. You knew it would spell trouble for him with his team. But hopefully they would see the Kenji you knew.
Or rather used to know.
“[y/n] The venue has let the audience in, we're ready to go on,” your secretary announced.
“Right, thank you Kohaku” you nodded.
The show must go on, regardless of how you felt. As you left your dressing room, you turned off the monitor, Kenji’s smirk faded to black before you turned to leave. Your mind shifted to the performance, clearing your head of any other thoughts than your songs and choreography. As you stepped onto the stage, the venue exploded in cheers.
“What a huuuuuge crowd! I think we could bring the whole venue down!” you shouted.
Your fans screamed a loud response back, not that you could really understand it.
“Let’s get this show on the road! One, two, three!” you shouted.
As the music began, the crowd sang along and cheered. It was no different from your previous concerts, everything came to you easily. You could feel yourself begin to sweat as the set list made it to the halfway point. Just as it was about to reach the point where you did your signature set, a loud alarm blasted through the venue.
“Warning, Kaiju attack” came through the speakers and on every screen.
You watched as the fans began to file out, the staff guiding them to the nearest exits. You jumped off the stage, assisting the people in barricades to take the back stage exit with your staff.
“[y/n]! We have to get going!” Kohaku called to you.
“Not until everyone is safe!” you shouted back.
You looked around for any stragglers. There was a group of teens carrying one on their shoulders. You ran over to assess the situation.
“She fell and her leg got trampled, she can’t walk” one of the teens explained.
A loud roar came from above and the ground began to shake.
“Take her through the back, follow Kohaku out” you took them as you pointed to your secretary.
The teens nodded, hurrying over to Kohaku who took on the weight of the injured teen. As you watched them leave, you hear another loud roar. Metal crunched and screeched as a huge shadow loomed over. You weren’t sure what you were seeing but it was a Kaiju for sure. And it was falling backward onto the venue.
Your legs felt stiff as you hurried to run away, just in any direction to avoid being crushed. When the Kaiju finally fell backward onto the venue, you were launched into the air. Everything went dark as you felt heavy weight on your body and pain radiating through your limbs. It hurts to breathe let alone move.
“[y/n]! [y/n]!” Kohaku called for you.
You couldn’t open your mouth, the dust and dirt surrounded you. Nearby, you saw a light stick and turned it on. You hoped the light would signal to Kohaku where you were. After a few minutes, you could hear footsteps approaching.
“Right here! I need a rescue here!” Kohaku shouted.
The debris keeping you down was removed and you were rushed to a hospital.
----
The next day, you had your arm in a sling. It wasn’t bad, but you had bruises and pulled muscles. But you weren’t cleared to do any work. You had been lucky enough that Kohaku let you still attend the TV program you had agreed to be a special guest for.
“It’s not like they are going to make me do push ups,” you sighed.
“You're injured, that is going to be a beacon for gossip,” Kohaku said.
“People are going to talk regardless, at least let me have some fun while it happens” you begged.
That was how you ended up on a chair in a TV studio waiting for the cameras to start rolling. What you didn’t expect was for Kenji to be the other special guest.
“[y/n]? You’re the other guest? This is… this is great-” he stopped when he saw your arm in a sling.
“Oh yeah, we got good chemistry so we can bounce off each other” you grinned.
But Kenji just stared at your wounded arm.
“It looks worse than it feels, I’ll live” you began.
“What happened?” he asked.
“D-Don’t worry about it” you said nervously.
Before he could press further, the host interrupted you both to start the show. You forced the best smile you could, feeling Kenji’s eyes on you. The talk show started on a humorous note as the host made puns regarding both Kenji’s and your profession. It was only a matter of time before the conversation shifted to your injury.
“That’s quite the shiner you’ve got there, wasn’t it from the Kaiju attack last night?” the host asked.
“Uh… yeah. Neronga kinda fell on the venue. These things happen” you replied.
“Talk about going out with a bang, how are you holding up?” the host asked.
“I’m fine, I just need some rest” you said.
“You should’ve rested today” Kenji scolded you.
You turned to him, keeping your lips in a thin line.
“Who knew Kenji Sato was a mother hen? Looks like he does care about something other than baseball!” the host joked at your expense.
The audience laughed but you ignored his comment.
“Anyways, the KDF took care of that monster before it could turn you into a pancake. Any thoughts about it?” the host asked.
“I mean, I’m grateful the KDF managed to take care of the situation. But Ultraman kept the fighting away from my venue. I think if the KDF had let him fight it at least the destruction would have been avoided” you answered.
Kenji stared at you, swallowing as a frown set on his features.
“But didn’t Ultraman run away? I think he bit off more than he could chew back there” the host laughed.
Cue another laugh from the audience.
“We all have our bad days, I want to believe he’ll save us next time” you argued.
You turned to Kenji, noticing he looked rather guilty.
“Don’t you think so too?” you asked.
“He snapped out of the dark thoughts swarming in his head, blinking before nodding.
“Uh yeah, sure he will,” he said with false confidence.
After the show had concluded, you started to meet up with Kohaku. You heard someone jogging behind you and already knew it was Kenji.
“Hey, can we talk for a minute?” he asked.
“What’s this about? You standing me up or not answering your phone?” you asked.
Kenji cursed to himself, he had told Mina to direct all calls to voicemail.
“Both, let’s go. Right now. I know you have nothing planned with that keeping you busy” he said as he pointed to your arm sling.
You pouted at him, furrowing your brows.
“Okonomiyaki” you huffed.
“Yeah, yeah. I know” he laughed.
Kohaku was annoyed to hear that you had skipped out with Kenji. You hadn’t said that it was on his motorcycle either. There had to be some kind of rule against riding with only one good arm. But you threw caution to the wind as you used one arm to keep you grounded to Kenji. Although, he had driven more carefully knowing you were at risk of falling off. When you both reached the old Okonomiyaki restaurant, the memories began to come back.
“This place hasn’t changed a bit,” you said in awe.
“Don’t fix what isn’t broken or something” Kenji chuckled.
You both sat down and began to create a monster of an order. It felt like you were both kids again, mixing things and exploring new combinations. When it came time to make the pancake, you looked at Kenji with a sly grin.
“All right hot shot, you gotta cook it,” you said.
“You can at least put the topping on with your good arm,” Kenji rolled his eyes.
“Just make sure you don’t flip it on my head” you snickered.
“Oh ha, ha. Like I can’t flip a pancake” Kenji sarcastically laughed.
“Says the guy who ended up taking an Okonomiyaki shower” you continued to tease him.
“Hm, maybe you should try one,” he said as he filled a spoon with Okonomiyaki sauce.
Kenji leaned over the table to push it closer to your face.
“Ken! Don’t you dare!” you squealed.
You both began to calm down as your hunger became more apparent. Kenji managed to keep all the toppings on and flip the pancake. Now it was time to eat. You grabbed a spoon, unable to eat properly with your non-dominant hand. Kenji watched you clumsily try to eat with the spoon.
“Okay, hold up” he said and stood up.
He grabbed his chair, moving from sitting across the table from you to sitting adjacent to you. He was close enough to bump elbows with you. He raised his chopstick to your mouth.
“Say ‘Ah’” his voice came out playful as he held up a bite sized piece.
“You can’t be serious” you said as you felt your cheeks heating up.
“Hey, I’m doing you a favor,” he teased.
You rolled your eyes and opened your mouth. The both of you moved forward and the bite sized piece of Okonomiyaki made it into your mouth.
“Oh! So good!” you exclaimed as your cheeks tingle.
“Uh huh? See? And you didn’t want my help” Kenji smirked as he fed himself.
As much as you hated yourself for thinking about it, this was an indirect kiss. You pushed the thought to the back of your mind and hummed loudly.
“Well, if you insist. Then you can feed me” you laughed.

Living so close to the state park was one of the many perks of having a house out in the countryside - or at least that's what Jenn had thought. Being out in nature had always allowed her to self-reflect and take time to really ground herself, always feeling like her best self when she was in the peaceful space that it offered.
So, it was sort of a no-brainer for her to decide to take some time to volunteer out in the park, hoping to make a difference to one of the places that gave her so much joy. A bright smile formed on her lips as she heard the other speaking to her, stopping so she could give her undivided attention to the other. "I knew this was going to be hard work. But this was a lot more than I bargained for," she laughed in agreement, wiping some sweat off of her brows. "Though, it's been rewarding to see all of our progress as we continue on."
Who: Amina & Open Where: State Park When: Anytime during volunteer week!
Amina, as a rule, believed in giving back to the places they took the most from. They'd spent a lot of their free time at the state park, digging for rocks, going for hikes, even doing some yoga or meditation if the need arose. It was one of the most beautiful parts of Merrock, and a nice bike ride from home too.
Today, they'd set out on helping to reset some fences along the parking lot that had fallen down, realigning the wood posts and picking up the mess along the way. They turned to the person near them with a smile, realizing they hadn't spoken. "The volunteer coordinator gave me a look when I said I wanted to do the heavy lifting and that only challenged me more, but I think they were a tiny bit right." They leaned against the fence they'd just realigned.
