yo yo yo! howza'bout an update?

howdy, long time no see and all that. it's currently almost 3 am est at the time of starting this post, so if you're looking to read this, just expect a real stream of consciousness type post.

first, let's address tumblr stuff! i've been absent for a good bit, and... i think it's going to stay like that for quite some time. if i'm being honest, the desire to write on tumblr has been at an all-time low as of late. the only ping i've gotten has been for tails and rosalina, and that's really just because those two are forever characters and that desire will never properly vanish. but for rping in general? i think i'll be taking quite the hiatus.

now i'm not putting up the deuces and vanishing forever! i'm still having creative thoughts, just not in the rping direction. if i were to post anything, it would probably be some more fanfiction-type stories featuring my ocs and the adventures i've been plotting out for them. so. short stories, i suppose! i could see myself reviving my extremely short-lived personal blog and posting some things there if i ever got the motivation to sit down and actually write something more bookish.

though with all of that said, this is probably a mighty see you soon on the tumblr front. i still check my main blogs and i am available on discord even though i've been pretty shit at responding to messages, totally my fault to those i've kinda lowkey ghosted. but i'm gonna be real quiet going forward. hugs and kisses to the lot of you, though. i see everyone still having fun every single day. just imagine an image of me giving a thumbs up superimposed on the sky. that's the vibe.

now, personal life stuff! gender is still weird but i think i'm starting to get a handle on it. after properly being mistaken as a female in public for the first time, i think i'm comfortable enough to upgrade my he/him to a he/she/they! still have. no idea if boy or girl or both or neither, but in terms of pronouns? i dont mind being a him because that's what i've been all my life, she feels very good because that means im being viewed as feminine-presenting, and they is honestly just the most accurate nine times outta ten. tbh the only thing i know for sure is that i dont want to be masculine-presenting. i can be male, but i refuse to be masculine, lmao.

also, i got new glasses! they're more rounded and really help the feminine look, i think. i've been catching myself smiling more at my reflection whenever i see myself in the mirror with them on, so the change has been really positive already. i'm in a place where i wanna experiment with my clothes and see how me i can truly feel like.

oh! and im not sure if i've mentioned it, but i've moved to a far more comfortable place with my girlfriend!!! she's trans, her family was super accepting of her, and now they're super accepting of me wearing the sorts of clothes i like! so i've been far more willing to test out the sorts of clothes i wear now that i dont have to worry about being found out. so...

yknow. all in all? i'm doing real good over here, gang. despite the radio silence. perhaps sometime in the future i'll pop back in with some sorta blog to get goofy on the dash with yall again. or maybe i'll actually write short stories and post those to their own blog! whatever it is, i just wanted to pop in at. three at night. and share my thoughts in the form of a life update. life's been good on the macro. we will work on the micro, but the overview makes me quite happy when i step back and look at it.

`➠⠀:⠀⠀ EXPERIENCE / how long you’ve roleplayed:⠀⠀ I am pretty sure that I've been roleplaying since 2016, which was my freshman year of high school, but I lowkey forget how I specifically got into roleplay??? All I remember is that since the musical Hamilton was starting to become popular at that time, I was part of the Hamilton Amino and first came across the concept of roleplay there. Since then, l've written on Instagram, Discord, and Twitter. Tumblr is probably my favorite platform for roleplay.

`➠⠀:⠀⠀ PREFERRED ROLEPLAY TYPE / fluff, smut, or angst? :⠀⠀ Out of these three, I like writing a perfect blend of them all. However, my favorite type of roleplay is a secret fourth genre — hurt / comfort.

`➠⠀:⠀⠀ PET PEEVES AND DEALBREAKERS :

⠀⠀ ⠀⠀Roleplayers interacting with my canon muses while ignoring my female original characters. I understand that I am not entitled to interactions, but it makes me feel uneasy — especially since my current original character muse is from the exact same universe and the same time period as my canon characters.

⠀⠀ Interpreting the “no attachments” rule in the Jedi Code to mean “Jedi aren’t allowed to love at all” rather than “Jedi acknowledge that possessive relationships where one cannot let go of another are dangerous and toxic”, and then turning this same misinterpretation as a plot point or headcanon in a roleplay. This has been debunked multiple times by George Lucas.

⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ People who conflate the muse with the writer. I run into this problem ALL THE TIME with my historical fiction centric muses, and as I always say in my rules document, if someone can’t separate the writer and the muse, then they are not mature enough to write with me.

⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ Forgetting that plotting is collaborative, and expecting me to do all the work. If you want to interact with me, make an honest effort to match my energy and my contributions during the plotting process. Suggest ideas and concepts of your own. This post has some great suggestions for improving your experience throughout the roleplay plotting process!

`➠⠀:⠀⠀ PLOTS OR MEMES? :⠀⠀ Askbox memes all the way! They are a GREAT way to get interactions going, test the waters of a new dynamic, and start new threads! I also like using them as a springboard for the plotting process. When it comes to “plotting”, I perceive it as an umbrella term that encompasses exchanging headcanons about our muses or discussing character dynamics in detail, so to me it is an ongoing process that begins the moment I reach out to you OOC and continues throughout our roleplays. Plotting only ends when interactions between us end.

`➠⠀:⠀⠀ LONG REPLIES OR SHORT REPLIES? :⠀⠀ My replies tend to vary in length, and oftentimes these lengths will match your own. It is the substance that matters to me the most — you just have to give me something to work with by having some form of interaction with my character in your response, and I won’t bat an eye about how long it is.

`➠⠀:⠀⠀ BEST TIME TO WRITE? :⠀⠀I write at all times of day, but if I had to pick, I’d probably say the evening.

I will admit that I, like Dooku, am driven by a desire to change the world for the better and do occasionally find myself being cynical with regards to my country’s politics — but that’s about the greatest extent of any semblance that we may share. experience in RP — honestly i've been rping since i was probably too young to rp on the internet 💀 i started on deviantart (which like. oops but also i was like 9) and then started rping on tumblr likeee ~2015 or so. i actually first started writing Kaki on tumblr in like 2016, and then kinda started writing on twitter in 2019 when the RPC on here started to wane from its peak. i came back very recently because i got tired of the limitations of writing on twitter

best experiences — as of recent, i've had a few really really fun crossover threads on twitter that will stay with me forever atp. one was a real slowburn romance plot with a spike spiegel, and another was of isekai plot with desmond miles from assassin's creed that ended up being really fun and sweet. i also have a really cute ship going with a friend's DB OC on twitter, too. oh kaki and her tendency to adopt men two heads taller than her ❤️

pet peeves/dealbreakers — trying to force OOC scenarios/behaviors onto kaki or otherwise just making it clear you don't respect her character outside of writing will really sour me in terms of trying for future interactions. i doubt this will happen here as it's mostly a problem i've had on twitter but JUST IN CASE!!! i'm mostly talking stuff like, oversexualizing her because she has muscles ("step on me, m*mmy" & such comments are a HUGE no-no), assuming she's overly aggressive/belligerent, or on the flip-side, babying her like she's a cutesy helpless waif. she is a 30+ year old woman with thoughts and feelings and i would like her autonomy to be respected.

muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — HONESTLY i'm down with anything as long as it's interesting. on my own i tend to write adventure-drama type plots (the dbz fic i'm working on is just a space opera tbh) with a splash of horror of some flavor, usually with anti-capitalist/fascist/imperialist messaging. i think the one thing i should mention is that i do really enjoy when there's a conflict or overarching storyline happening in longer plotted threads; it just keeps me more engaged.

plot or memes — both are good and work tbh. memes can be good for breaking the ice or actually figuring out a dynamic in practice, but if we want to go for something more in-depth, i do prefer some plotting (even if it's just planning points A and B and then just improvising how our muses get there)

long or short replies — quality > quantity. even if your response is like 3 sentences or less, if it moves things along, it's fine with me (:

best time to write — i tend to write more at night or on the weekends. really just when i'm not dead tired 😭but also if i really get into the plot of a thread, i'll get kinda hyperfixated on it and respond in like 3 seconds. my fault

are you like your muse? — In a lot of ways, yeah. Kaki is an OC i've been developing for like at least a decade now, and a lot of her experiences are drawn from things I personally have experienced (albeit, greatly exaggerated lmao), and the kind of character she's become is a projection of my beliefs and how I feel about the current state of the world. Writing her is a bit of a catharsis for me, really.

PREFERENCE OF COMMUNICATION: Discord is definitely preferred. I'm pretty much always online since I have it on my phone, and I'm generally pretty quick to respond if you message me there. I can do IMs here, but I'll definitely be slower since I don't get notifications for that on my phone.

MOST ACTIVE MUSE(S): My only current muses are Gordy here and Orin Scrivello DDS on my other blog (@scrivellc), and both of them are so loud in my brain right now. I do have some muses I don't currently have blogs for and some strewn about on other blogs...maybe I'll consolidate them one day onto a multimuse for my own sanity.

EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS: I've been RPing since kind of forever? Or well, probably since I was 14? I started out on Proboards and Invisionfree back in the day, so I've been at this for 18 years at least. On tumblr I started out I think....college? RP PET PEEVES: I'm not really sure...I guess when someone doesn't give you that much to work with? There honestly isn't all that much that bothers me.

PLOTS OR MEMES: Both are good actually! I love working from a prompt, but anyone who's messaged me knows I can get so deep into plotting. Honestly, sometimes I even enjoy doing long conversations about characters and dynamics more than RPing itself lol

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I can be a longwinded person and make weird and long replies, but honestly my sweet spot is probably 2-3 paragraphs. So I guess that's kind of...medium length?

TIME TO WRITE: Usually in the early evening is best for me since that's when I get home from work and want to unwind a bit. Lately I've been a little on the tired side, but hopefully my mojo will be back soon now that I'm done dealing with some personal business.

NAME: Kosmic! Well, it's a more recent change in terms of online alias. I still very much go by Eryn, but because I've been able to take that name and make it my IRL name, I've decided to have a new online name for comfort's sake. Ofc, I don't mind being called by my IRL name here, but I grew up old-school, ya know?

PRONOUNS: they/them!

PREFERENCE OF COMMUNICATION:  I like to start with Tumblr IMs, but I'm definitely okay with sharing my Discord with mutuals because 1.) I hate Tumblr IMs, and 2.) my mobile app is typically logged into my personal account, so I don't always respond to messages quickly.

NAME OF MUSE(s): Aether is my primary muse always, but I do want to write more with Xiao, Wanderer, Freminet, Lyney, Lynette, and Layla! Aether just comes more naturally, but I know that I'll never get a chance to write the others if I don't have everyone on the same blog.

BEST EXPERIENCE: This one is rather personal and less about the Tumblr RPC, but I think the 'best experience' I've ever gotten from RP is being able to meet my current partner through Discord Group RP. Between Gen.shin specifically and RP, if it wasn't for meeting him, I would still be stuck in a horrible situation IRL because I wouldn't have been able to physically move away. And without that, I wouldn't have been able to continue having a passion for the game and RP, and thus wouldn't have been able to meet all the wonderful friends I've made. It's a butterfly effect, but it still falls under a 'best rp experience' imo.

RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS: One-sided conversations and being talked over constantly. For me personally, roleplay is about building a story and developing characters together. More times than I can count have I've been subjected to people who exclusively talk about their characters or personal interests, and will always change the topic to fit themselves whenever I try to engage with something based on my muse/experiences. I'm not a brick wall to be talked to, and my muses are not accessories for your own character. Roleplay is a partnership between writers imo, and I will drop people who continue to act in such a manner as stated above.

MUSE PREFERENCES: As in muses that I would like to write against? Hm, I know I prefer dynamics that easily give my characters a reason to go back for more. It may be a basic answer, but it does encompass a lot of variety in muses I think? Whether it be shared history, empathy, a mystery to solve, a curiosity to explore, an itch to scratch — it's hard to argue that realistic relationships aren't built on the base concept of reoccurrance. It's not exactly always fun for me to try to mash two random characters with no similarities and try to make them stick; after all, why should my character want to see some stranger again without reason? This is also why I want to make my own muses have enough depth to intrigue other characters to want to form that connection, because I want our characters to develop and grow because they know each other, to have a lasting bond whether it be familial, platonic, or romantic.

PLOTS OR MEMES:  I like plotting mostly, but I'm always okay with memes! It really just depends on how much canon has given to our characters. Let's take Lyney as an example: with his strongest bonds like Lynette, Freminet, and Arlecchino, I would gladly start with memes because there's already a basis for interaction. But if a Ga Ming were to show up? That's a bit more difficult since there's nothing really tying them together in canon. Like sure, I can figure something out, but what does the mun want from this exchange? At that point, I'd rather plot something to make sure both parties are satisfied.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: At minimum a paragraph, but I personally struggle to provide quality with shorter replies. Between my tendency to ramble and my desire to give an enjoyable response ( and my brain wants my writing partners to go 'goddamn that's a good response' ), my replies tend to be 3-5 paragraphs? It really depends on the overall plot of a thread and how close I am to that particular mun. Honestly it's one of the reasons I struggle to write nowadays cuz I'm never happy with my own replies ;~;

BEST TIME TO WRITE: Truly, honestly? I write the best when I'm doing actual work, and it SUUUUCKSSSSS. All my brain juice is flowing when I'm working and my brain has time to wander, but due to working in food service, I don't exactly have time to write. I do keep a notebook at my prep table to write down scraps of sentences, whether it be a thread I'm really focused on, or a headcanon thought that will disappear the moment I get home, but it's still not often I get the chance to stop and actually write it down because at that point, my brain goes blank. Same with when I get home, all those thoughts are lost to the wind. After that, the best time for me is in the early morning when I'm still in bed. I do keep a notebook in my nightstand and I'll pull it out when I have the time to write because that's when everything is 'fresh' for me.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): This current batch of muses? Well, my partner likes to joke that I'm an Aether kinnie, but I think that's just cuz he loves how I write him lol. I try to not use Aether as a 'self-insert' cuz I hate the whole "the Traveler is only a self-insert and not their own character" shtick, and I don't think I'm really similiar to anyone else I write? I do find shared qualities between myself and my muses, but that's about it. Now if any of y'all think otherwise, then. . . ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Roleplay 'asks' !!

Use this to comment on to ask me to roleplay!! Im 16, 17 in roughly 4 months. I'm semi-lit to Literate, Though after a few replies and seeing what my partner can do- I'll likely match up to their style. I do not use asterisks, I use "..." When talking I use (( or )) For out of character I use -+...+- For texting I use ~/...\~ For internal monologue/Talking in said characters mind. I'm very limited to what Fandom plots i'll do, But when it comes to OC only plots i'm down for almost anything. Keep in mind, My main method of roleplaying is using an OC- BUT I'll play any cannon character needed so you don't have to play all of them :3 I'll be OC x OC or CC x OC (Double ups only.) But i'll very rarely do CC x CC unless its a ship I'm familiar with/like. I tend to usually make OC's that have familial bonds with characters, So usually like little siblings, Older siblings, Parental figures- ETC SO normally, My OC's are understandably not meant for romance But occasionally, If its a Fandom with a character I REALLY like- I will make a character meant for romancing said character. lmaoo thank you...idk that I'm that qualified to give out advice honestly but I'll try..bear in mind this is all just personal experience, and you can take or leave as much as you like.

I would keep your game to yourself until you have a decent amount written or planned. Exposing your work to an audience always invites feedback, and it's much easier to deal with if you have a concrete idea of the style, tone, and direction you want the work to have

You'll get feedback, whether you want it or not; make sure you're prepared for that before posting anything. It's entirely up to you what you do with that feedback - it's a very useful skill to be able to put messages aside for a few days while you consider them, and managing knee-jerk reactions, especially to negative feedback. It's okay to write off things you don't agree with, but it is good practise to respond to good-faith feedback in kind; again, having a solid idea of the story you want to write really helps when deciding if feedback is applicable or not

If you can find a little community, it really helps to have a group of people you trust to read over stuff and give you encouragement - I think the interactif discord is probably a good place to start for that?

idk where you are in the process, but there are a lot of resources for twine and renpy out there; it's worth messing around in your chosen engine a bit, trying to create something small and simple before embarking on a huge project

try not to worry about Numbers. followers, notes, plays, ratings etc - it's very easy to get obsessed w these things, and it's a surefire way to make yourself feel awful lmao. same with comparison to other games and authors; we're all doing our own thing, and it's better to focus on what you're doing than worry about what others are up to. remember, there's no such thing as clout - we're all just some guy writing our lil stories on tumblr dot come

have fun with it!! while it's easy to overstretch yourself, especially at first, I don't think ambition is a bad thing at all, and while I don't recommend promising a lot of features (even just to yourself) that you're not sure you're willing and able to implement, I am very much a proponent of the "hey, it would be cool if I could do x" approach, both in coding and writing

most active muse :  i go through phases where i'll have a lot of muse for a certain few one week and then lose their voice the next week lol, and a lot of the muses i have are quite selective because their setting/personality is very specific and can sometimes be hard to tap into. generally, i'm always rarin' to go with jeannie, ingrid, lisa, gideon, heidi, vikram, and taher. experience / how many years : i don't want to talk abt it... jk, i started in 2005 i believe? on myspace mainly and i lurked a few message boards back in the day but never actually used them. i wasn't always roleplaying though, i'd often take long breaks throughout the years, sometimes for months, but it's been a part of my life for a long time! after myspace shut down, i went on to roleplayer.me until 2015 when one day i saw an rpg promo in devon bostick's tag (that name's a blast from the past, i know) and i subsequently made the permanent switch to tumblr :) so you can pretty much consider me a veteran around these parts. i remember the days when people used the cast of one tree hill when it was actually currently airing as fcs (or playbys, as we called them) and every third muse was named seraphina!!!

best experience : i think one of the best times i had on here was during christmas 2015 in the rpg hell state bc it was very active and i had a lot of good storylines going! the best time i had on rp.me was the group verse i had for a knockoff of terra nova called alia terra, which i actually made into an rpg on here and then made a closed verse between lucia and i so we could continue some dino fun! but i did it on rp.me shortly before i made the switch to tumblr so i kinda roll that all into one. i mean don't get me wrong i've had some great experiences on here, and lately have been having an amazing time with my writing partners, new and old, but those two are events that stick out in my mind. and also meeting lucia in 2015 duhhh of course!!!!!!!

rp pet peeves : honestly i don't want to say bc i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or discourage people from writing with me lmfao, but i'll just say it has to do with dropping articles and using two certain french words 😬😬😬

fluff, angst, or smut : if i could crush up angst and snort it i would. i don't write smut (just a personal choice, not a judgment!) and fluff doesn't really interest me unless there's an undercurrent of angst or toxicity lmaooo, but i'm mostly interested in genre fiction like horror/slasher or sci-fi anyway and angst is kind of a package deal with those topics

plots or memes : i like to start with a general idea and then just kinda improvise. i also don't mind having structed plot points like going from a > b > c but having the freedom to do what we want in between those points. i also have absolutely no issue with changing or adding things as we go along! i'm basically very hype for anything

long or short replies : i'm a wordy bitch! when it comes to replies, i tend to stick with 2-4 for my 'shorter' threads but i have no issue getting up to 5-9 paragraphs if i'm really feeling something. no worries about matching length, btw, as long as it's not egregious like getting a few sentences in response when i wrote you four paragraphs, because i feel that's just rude. i also tend to start out small and get bigger as we go on, since i do like to begin with a general idea and add on from there

time to write : so before i started my current job, i only wrote at night because writing when the sun was up seemed morally wrong lmfao. nowadays, i sometimes write my replies at work on my google drive and then edit/format them once i get home, but that's only when i work alone and it's not super busy, and i actually have writing muse for that day. after work, i'll get on after midnight since i don't get home until late and need to put on my jammies, take off my makeup, eat dinner, and watch some tv. even on my days off, i most likely won't get on until late in the night because my family actually has the audacity to want to see me during the daylight hours 🙄

are you like your muses : i have a lot of muses that share similarities with myself, but i also have muses i have absolutely nothing in common with, like blair the satanic serial killer or lauren the son of a cult leader turned political campaign manager. more than likely they'll have something random from me like also being allergic to penicillin or they drive a buick like i do lmao, but i don't have a muse i would really consider my 'self-insert' character!

hey um pro-transid person here and i just wanna thank you for apologizing and stuff,, im very glad that you realized what you did was wrong and apologized for it bc yeah your posts did incite a lot of harassment but more importantly they were one of the causes of a *lot* of people realizing what transids were and then faking being pro-transid to get into our communities just to later harass, hate on, and threaten us,, which like, not saying u did that at all, just saying that your posts ended up causing a lot of that to happen

but if you ever want to genuinely learn in good-faith what different transids and stuff are, the community is very accepting and supportive of people and is very open to helping out and not "cancelling" anyone who's done bad things in their past that they've apologized for

we're (me at least,, /lh) happy to explain things to you and tell you about our experiences if you genuinely want to better learn about our communities, im sorry that people hurt you in those communities in the past but from what i've read from other people a lot of well-known ppl in the community ended up being trolls (ex. transabled-dream is a very very well-known troll who made a lot of people anti-transid by making the community look terrible) so most likely the people who hurt you were trolls who only set out to hurt people and weren't actually genuine pro-transid ppl,, since that's happened to a lot of ppl

Hi hello! (b ᵔ▽ᵔ)b I'm aamna, 21 yr old human disaster lmao. I'm currently a university student, so usually i'm pretty busy with that. the rest of the time i just spend making gifs of stuff that i like or watching dramas.

2. How and when did you become a CHOICE?

i'm a really new choice, i started at the end of feb this year. i got to know who they were mainly because of kareena and pooja posting pictures of them in the mdzsnet discord 😂 im gonna be honest initially it was me just finding jun attractive (pooja has proof of the start of my thirsting lmao) but then i heard donghun, jun and chan's cover of someone you loved and it was so incredible, their voices and the harmonization so i listened to more of their covers before I got sucked in and listened to all their albums in one go sjfjf and here I am four months later with only having a.c.e on repeat al day hahaha.

3. What is your favourite part of being a CHOICE?

Being able to see and hear how amazing ace is. Getting to experience how loving the fandom is. Also the last two weeks?? This is my first comeback and maybe it's because idk much about comebacks in general but I dont think other groups spoil their fans so much. All the photoshoots!! And just generally too, ace gives us so much content, whether it's song covers or almost daily selfies and vlives. I love it!

4. What is your favourite A.C.E song? Do you prefer their title tracks or b-sides more?

Oh this is hard because it's hard choice between undercover and goblin. So I'll just go with both of them. The highnotes and the rap it's so nice I keep on singing them especially undercover, even though I barely know the lyrics 😂 they're extremely catchy.

5. Who’s your bias? What do you like about them?

It's Jun and Chan because right from the first cover I watched, my brain was like himmm—no himmm and it hasnt stopped since.

6. What is your favourite thing about A.C.E?

What's not my favourite thing? They're so funny and hot and talented and I'm only a simple human.

7. Which concept has been your favourite? What kind of concept do you want them to try?

Maybe I'm biased because I get to experience this one but also sirens, shipwrecks, lost princes, vampires they did it all!
