The first thing I would like to say is how incredibly grateful I am to be able to share this achievement with you all. Truly, this blog likely would not be here without you all. I've loved writing since I was young and this is my safe space to be able to put it out into the world, even if to just make one person smile. So, thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

Alright, sappiness aside, now let's get to the part you actually care about: the event! Due to the magnitude of this accomplishment to me, it's going to be a long-lasting one, ranging from: July 27th, 2024; to August 30th, 2024. Slightly over one whole month.

The fandoms included in this event are Blue Lock, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Honkai Star Rail, and Genshin Impact! (Basically my entire masterlist)

The included sections will follow in more detail below, but here is a brief summary: Self-Ship/Oc-Canon drabbles/blurbs, Match-ups, Prompts, Playlists, and Letters. Now, I will explain each of them more comprehensibly.

Self-Ship and/or Oc-Canon Drabbles/Blurbs

If you ship yourself or an oc with a character, please tell me a little about them/yourself! Picrews/Pictures (if comfortable) and a short description of your/your character's personality and I'll be happy to write something about the two of you.

Match-Ups

The infamous match-up is a staple of fanfiction-writer events, and I just really like doing them to be honest... All I need is some short info about your personality and any of the things you like, a picrew/picture if you feel comfortable.

I ask you to chose up to two fandoms, while mutuals do not have a limit.

You will receive your match-up, a small moodboard of the relationship, and a few little details about it (such as: who's the big spoon, what made them love you, etc).

These are pretty straight forwards, you just give me a couple prompts and a character and I spit out a fic for you. I really love @mcflymemes prompts, so I will be using her prompts (chuckles, if you see this I love you).

I wanted to make this part of the event exclusive for my dear mooties, because they make my time on tumblr feel more whole. Since I tend to have a deeper connection with my mutuals, I feel this is something that I can comfortably offer: a love letter from your favorite character.

It is both mutual-exclusive and limited to one per person.

Worshipper's Guide to Indirect Worship

This is going to be my sfw guide for less direct methods of contact and digital altars, I may make an nsfw guide at some point on my own as a counterpart to this but for now...

Digital Shrines

Digital shrines are a good format for indirect worship, because you can curate it from anywhere, and no one will know. Technically I have two digital altars but one is more a back up of the other. One is I have a folder on my computer that contains all the media of the shrine, and the shrine itself is on my personal discord server. Usually I separate the shrine itself into media, devotionals, personal devotionals, writings, and links by using different discord channels. The channels breakdown like this for me:

Media: photos and videos of solely them

Devotionals: images I find on the internet that I feel embody our relationship, media created by someone else. Also picrews usually

Personal Devotionals: Visual media I have personally made to embody our relationship and can take full credit for creating. (This is a specific folder I made just to keep my art and others art separate)

Writings: Poems, songs, rambles, gushing, fantasies, etc. Any thought you have about them that's important enough to write down, put it here.

Links: I use this as a dumping ground for ideas I got from articles, purchases I want to make, or anything that requires a link to something else but directly relates to my worship of My Goddess.

Tumblr can also be a general dumping grounds kind of shrine, where I would not be too honest tbh, but it's a start. I prefer keeping my shrines private for the most part. My general advice is to stay away from tumblr for everything because you're not going to feel 1000% comfortable expressing your worship to its full extent because of the possibility of it being found by strangers. Also some things are just tmi to be honest. I have writings in my folder documenting times me and My Goddess have banged in detail so I don't forget. Tumblr doesn't need that kind of detail on here. So try and keep shrines at least somewhat private for your own sake. People are dicks.

As for advice for things to do to worship indirectly (and this goes hand in hand with the shrine a little bit) here's a list with general advice and ideas:

Scrapbook/Junk Journal about them (I'm biased this is a personal favorite of mine). Get a notebook, some scrapbook supplies, and either dedicate it to photos of your beloved or journal about any time you guys interact in ways that feel meaningful to you! I keep one physical scrapbook that I use for collages for My Goddess's photos, and am planning to start a junk journal for more writing purposes. I'll probably solely be using it to write about personal interactions with My Goddess, and on slower days, things I love about Her in general. It's both kinda a traditional journal and a part of my obsessive behaviors. You can also do stuff like this digitally with moodboard and collage makers like Canva which have free options.

Document about them. This is kinda vague so I'll explain. As part of my shrine, I have a document I'm building dedicated to bullet note points about My Goddess. If She randomly drops a fact on me about Her childhood, or Her interests. I write it down there so I don't forget. I want to be a good worshipper so I want to be an expert in everything about Her. I usually use a note taking app for this that I can organize into subgroups. Notion is a favorite of mine (despite them selling their soul to the AI overlords sigh) because it allows a lot of creative freedom in organizing the documents AND it's linked to my email so I can't lose it. Obviously, a google doc will accomplish the exact same thing, however my entire personality type is best described as extra, so I have to do things with extra effort at all times.

Write for them. This is where my pagan background kicks in a little bit, but in certain pagan traditions, especially stuff like Hellenic Polytheism, writing hymns or poems or songs for the gods was very important to their practices. So why not write those things for your God? It doesn't need to be shared, it can be bad, it can be whatever it wants to be. What I usually do, is I write poems for My Goddess, and keep them in my junk journal or digital shrine, depending on if I'm working physically or digitally, and if I'm feeling brave I'll share it with Her, but most times, they stay hidden in the depths of my shrine stuff.

Biggest overall piece of advice, create for them. Nothing shows devotion, quite like the personal experience of making something for someone else even if they never see it. Honor the Gods with the act of Creation, ya know?? It doesn't even have to require you to be good at drawing or whatever. Are you someone who gardens? Name a plant after them. Like makeup? Figure out what makeup styles they prefer on your chosen gender and wear those all the time, even if they're not there to see. Sewing? Make a stuffed animal of them. Speed runs? Dedicate every run to them, create a record for them. It can be as big or as mundane as you want and none of it has to be outwardly expressed to the other person. Just dedicate whatever hobby you have to them, and suddenly you'll have tons of shrine material.

Now for the quick part, of this!

General Worship Tips! (These are more indirect tho)

When getting dressed, pick outfits you know they'll appreciate. (Just please don't sacrifice your personal style for this)

Capitalize their name/title no matter what. They deserve the respect of one extra button push.

Write letters, even if you live close, even if you see them everyday, and even if you never send them. Use this as a format to express your emotions unbarred.

Save every photo they send you of themselves. If you need to edit people out of the photo do it, but you better be saving every instance of themselves they give you.

Fill your space with things that express yourself yes, but also have stuff that reminds you of them. Do they have a favorite animal? Buy those kinds of stuffed animals. They say they like certain types of aesthetics? Put some of that decor in your space.

I don't paint my nails, but if you do, paint them their favorite color.

Have dedicated jewelry pieces for them. While My Goddess did not give it to me, I have a memory of them associated with a bracelet I wear every single day. You can just buy a piece of jewelry and assign it as a symbol to them. They don't have to know.

Interact with their interests, with passion. Do your best to care about everything they care about. It'll give you guys tons of stuff to do, and help you understand them better.

Make pinterest boards dedicated to certain moments you want i.e. first date, wedding, future house/apartment dreams, pets you want with them, nursery room ideas, etc.

Make playlists dedicated to them.

more redacted ocs!! Aria's roommates edition

I have a redacted oc named Aria Aisling, a dreamwalker! She has 5 roommates, one of whom has been featured in the audios I've voiced of her, and this is her rankings of them! All have been made with picrew, BUT I did have to edit a couple of them slightly to get the appearances right.

Cassie, bear shifter She's the sweetest out of all Aria's roommates, and bakes cookies for all the roommates at least once a month! She's maybeee not the quickest on the uptake as the others, but she makes up for it with her kindness and (literal) strength! She's probably Aria's favourite, not that she'd admit it.

Salvia, vampire of the House of Baz. She's about 52, and was turned when she was 25. She is almost tied with Cassie for Aria's favourite, but is ranked at 2nd just because. She's the best cook in the house, and makes most of the dinners. Kayli is also one of the people who cooks dinner, but she seems to have differing tastes as she does not eat like the others do (Salvia still eats human food but Kayli rarely ever does). Salvia is from Ireland, and emigrated to the US in 2002, at the behest of her (vampire clan's) queen. Note: Aria's listener, "Dreamer", is a volunteer blood source for the Dahlian members of the House of Baz, so Salvia knows them well.

Amelia, sonal energetic She's the loudest out of all of them, but mostly just by accident, since her powers sometimes come through when she's especially excited. She's probably exactly in the middle of Aria's rankings of her roommates.

Millie, stealth She's the quietest of all of them, and keeps to herself. Sometimes, everyone assumes she isn't even home, until they bump into her cloaking in the kitchen. She's about on par with Aria in terms of how reclusive she is. Aria doesn't have particularly strong feelings towards her, but likes Amelia a little more, so she's ranked 4th. One time she helped Aria redye her hair, though, so she could easily rank 3rd as well.

Kayli, serenity daemon She has been coalesced now for 56 years, and is currently doing some extra daemon studies at DAMN. She is the most overbearing in terms of protectiveness when it comes to Aria and the other roommates, but she means well. She is probably Aria's least favourite roommate, simply because she interrupts her dreamscapes too often.

So yeah!! That's all of them :D I'll gladly provide the picrew links if anyone wants them, but keep in mind I had to edit Kayli and Millie, so Kayli's serenity horns and Millie's blue streaks aren't in the picrews! I'm working on Aria's 4th audio right now, so it should be out next weekend at the latest!

Reviewing Horse Picrews - Part 3

A brief review of every horse Picrew dollmaker I could find! (The small exception being any generic MLP G4 pony makers.)

I'll be trying to create an either sunbleached black / seal brown / liver chestnut horse in each one (my favourite coats), as well as one or two more exciting horse designs, showcasing the options.

⬆️ Your Horse Maker by umaumagogogo Rating: 🥕🥕🥕 ⚫⚫ 3/5 carrots + tasty leaf 🌿 It's another simple race horse maker. The style is cute and there are decent options for making the typical race horse, but not a lot of options overall. But you can make a cute horse here too.

⬆️ Pony Maker by Chyoatas (@twic0rd on Tumblr) Rating: 🥕🥕🥕🥕⚫ 4/5 carrots + a magic orb 🔮 This MLP-style pony maker promises to be MS Paint friendly, so I thought it was worth noting and putting to the test. I opened up my simple horse and paintbucket filled the mane and eyes with darker browns, and it indeed was friendly! (I also got carried away with the spraycan.) There's a decent amount of options for creating cute colourful horses here, and since you can easily swap out the colours in Paint, it could be really useful.

⬆️ Dream-coloured Pony Maker by Furaki Rating: 🥕🥕🥕🥕⚫ 4/5 carrots + doughnut with sprinkles 🍩 This one is really cute and pretty. You can only make colourful pastel horses, but that's okay too! It was easy to use and delivers on what it intends to. With a few more options it would get another carrot point.

⬆️ Beaft Maker by Cyaneus Rating: 🥕🥕🥕🥕⚫ 4/5 carrots + crystal of prosperity💎 Behold the beaft that I bestow upon thee! This is a 5/5 maker in general, but as a horse maker, I have to rate it 4/5 carrots for the lack of different colour options. At the same time, the horse options are kinda impressive for being a beaft maker.

⬆️ horse designer by nataliekittle Rating: 🥕🥕⚫ ⚫⚫ 2/5 carrots + cheeseburger 🍔 The creator's note says "i know no one outside of our class will ever see this". But I've seen the horse designer! This is a unique horse maker, even if it doesn't have a lot of options. I like that it seems to be a horse on a post-it note.

I picked this song for Justice because throughout the story he struggles with his perfectionism, a sort of "holy imposter syndrome" (i.e. not being good enough of an angel), and a crisis of faith once Heaven has made clear he's no longer welcome. He's still loyal to God, he wants to continue being an angel and do what he's been created for (serving humanity and being a literal embodiment of justice), but now he's been told he doesn't belong. And on Earth, he's the "songbird in the city air" as mentioned in the song. He feels like he's never going to "make it" -- never be good enough to get in Heaven's good graces again. He has a stubborn sense of morality and refuses to compromise on his ideals, which is exactly the thing they rejected in him. He starts to realize... maybe they were right. He doesn't belong. Obviously that's a bit of a downer for him.

When it comes to "playing the part," he still acts the part of an angel even though he's as close to being a fallen angel as he can be while keeping his wings attached. Being able to literal sense human pain and suffering, he is programmed by God to help every person on the street no matter what. And despite doing this, he doesn't really get the sense he's actually materially helping, at all. No matter how many problems he solves, there's never a dip in the grand scheme of things. He cares so deeply that it hurts, and despite his estrangement from Heaven, he's more than willing to bend over backwards for humanity, doing whatever anyone needs. To his own detriment, sometimes.

In a way, he doesn't really belong anywhere anymore. Not in Heaven, not in Hell, not on Earth. He's in a perfect in-between, everywhere he goes. Like a bird in the city.

We can get the obvious symbolism out of the way right now - Justice, large wings, sitting and watching some birds, who are flying merrily into the sky. Free to go wherever they please, while Justice can't. He's kept all the holy signifiers, his wings and halo, but is unable to use them the way he wants to. He's up high, closer to Heaven, but will never be able to reach as high as the birds can.

Also please take note of the grandma sweater. That has nothing to do with this symbolism, but it is a very important part of his character.

Saying

Okay so. Most of these thoughts are in my head instead of on the page, but there is ONE I can use.

Context: Justice invites Pride to a church event and when they get home, they have this conversation.

“I know, I guess I…” Justice leaned against the wall, brow furrowed. “I was trying to prove something to myself.” “Like what?” He didn’t answer right away, picking at his nails. “I know you don’t want a relationship with God,” he said, slow and deliberate, “and that’s fine. I would never ask you to. But I don’t think that means you have to be abandoned by me—by us. We can still get along, we don’t have to be separate to coexist. Does that make sense?”

Justice is both trying to prove to himself that Pride's demon status doesn't preclude him being able to hang out with humans (and at least one angel) in a civil way, and in turn that the eternally suffering that God prescribes for sinners to be illegitimate. for the record, i have no damn clue what the fnaf timeline is anymore. i used to follow the lore super closely but after security breach and the books i just kinda gave up. so this is my own version of the lore, uh, if you want canon lore this isn't for u

so my oc guy is named ambrose (last name is in the process of being changed) and he works dayshift at circus baby's pizza and rentals prior to the events of sister location. he's worked there for a couple years and the only reason he hasnt been fired is because he's the only person brave enough to get near the animatronics (robotics is his special interest). but he totally goofs off and smokes on the job and steals stuff but its hard to find good work these days so he gets to stay.

ambrose is stealth trans and has been medically transitioning for a while at this point, has gotten top surgery and is on T. he has like really messy hair (its not super short and he could almost put it in a small ponytail) that he cuts himself. its like a weird desaturated brown color idk how to describe it. he's also got patchy facial hair, face acne, and a tooth gap <3 oh and his eyes are amber (like- like his name-). height wise he's like average height but a little shorter than Michael

speaking of! in my lore Michael worked dayshift at circus baby's for a bit prior to sister location and that's where he met ambrose. their first impressions of each other were "wow that guy is so cool" and became inseparable shortly after (they're gay because i think we should give michael more loved ones).

and right before the events of sister location.. the animatronics started to get a little more feisty than normal which made the previous person working nightshift "quit" and ambrose was assigned the job without much choice in the matter. lets just say whoever was the morning shift the next day was met with a nasty surprise :)

NRC School Newspaper: A Birthday Interview with Ryker Crowley

Happy birthday!

Thank you! I gotta say that this has been one of my best birthdays so far! I love how NRC celebrates birthdays, and since we had one yesterday, it's like one very long party.

That's right, we celebrated Riddle's birthday yesterday.

Yup! Me and Riddle are pretty similar in a lot of ways. Aside from our birthday's being one day apart, we're also the same height, and even some of our personality. I'm a big rule follower and pretty strict when it comes to my school work and grades too.

Are you two close?

Well I'm a Heartslabyul student and he's my dorm leader, so we see each other often. I'd say we get along pretty well, but I wouldn't consider us close.

Who are you close with?

I get along really well with Ruggie, Silver, and Idia. I'd consider them pretty close friends. Ruggie is always fun to do practically anything with, even if it's working jobs, he can make it fun. Silver is really easy to talk to and fun to hang around with. He's the kind of friend I know I can always count on. Idia is the one that I spend most of my time with tho. It's not intentional, but when you're playing your favorite game or watching your favorite anime, you tend to lose track of time.

What are your favorite games and animes?

Some of my favorite games are Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Pokemon, and Stardew Valley. As for anime...my favorite has to be One Piece. It's a very long one, and I'm not done yet, but I love it. I also like Black Butler, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Death Note.

Do you have any dreams for the future?

I want to become an author. I love writing so much, and I'm even taking writing college classes right now. I have a bunch of short stories that I've written and debated creating a separate blog for, but I'm unsure if anyone would even care about it. But I also have an idea for a book I want to write, so completing and publishing that would be my ultimate goal.

Speaking of your writing, how is your blog doing?

It's doing great! I say it often, but I never imagined I'd get as much support as I did. I'm really grateful to all of my followers who give me feedback and requests. I really love seeing their comments and responding. Hearing their thoughts, what they want more of, and interacting with them always makes me happy!

What's your most popular series?

Definitely my broken sibling relationship series. I'm honestly surprised how much everyone loves the angst. It started with Vil after a slight mention that I had an idea for how it could go wrong, but people keep wanting more. Those take a little bit longer to write than most requests, but I always love doing it.

Considering you've written so much sibling angst, if you had to choose someone at NRC to be your sibling, who would it be?

Oh man. That's a pretty tough decision, but I think I would have to say Malleus. He's pretty lonely most of the time, but I think if he had a sibling, he would be a bit happier. I firmly believe that Malleus would treat his sibling very well. Plus, I think growing up with him would've been very fun. I would've loved to be a part of Malleus' family.

Do you consider anyone in Twisted Wonderland your family?

I've accepted Crowley as my bird dad. I know most people wouldn't, but I do.

How are you enjoying Twisted Wonderland?

I love it! I've been playing for a little over a year now. I originally came to Twisted Wonderland through Obey Me, but I play more Twisted Wonderland now. I'm a proud owner of 25 SSR cards, and love the story. My favorite characters have to be Sebek, Leona, and Silver.

What are you talking about?

Uh, okay. Can you tell us about your clothing style?

Sure! It varies from day to day depending of if I'm feeling more feminine or masculine, but lately I've been wearing a lot of Hawaiian shirts. My friend @l1ttleclouds actually made me an aesthetic board for my normal style. Take a look!

Nice! Are there any fun facts about you that most people don't know?

I always have trouble coming up with fun facts, especially ones that most people don't know. So I decided to come up with a few that people may or may not know; I love horror, I have a few succulents, and my eyes have two different colors. To clarify that last one, my eyes aren't two different colors, but each eye has two colors in it. Not mixed together, but separated. So about half of each iris is green, and half is brown. Fun!

Alright... My name's Chrissy Liss. My parents were ambitious and thought I could be the queen of a hive someday, so they gave me a name that sounded like Chrysalis. I also use she/her, and I'm half-changeling, half-pony. While my cutie mark doesn't inspire as much, let's just say, creative thinking as Red's, I'll explain mine too. But unlike Red, I won't lie about it. As most changelings do, I feed off emotions, primarily love but any strong emotions will do. My special talent is luring creatures by disguising myself as their loved ones, so that's where my cutie mark came from. But according to Red, I'm supposed to say it's because I love fishing. I've never even been fishing...

Little Red and Chrissy Liss have a dark story, and this blog will involve the same themes, so I encourage you to not interact if you don't think you can handle it. Your mental health should come first!

They both think they're the master manipulator, but their relationship is equally parasitic. Little Red gets Chrissy Liss to do the hard part, luring the victims to her to kill. But unknown to Red, Chrissy feeds on her ecstasy after a kill. This lessens the joy that Red feels, so she becomes addicted to killing in desperation for more.

But what do the pair do with the bodies? They skin them, of course! They use the manes and tails to make fibers, then use the fibers along with the skins to make clothes, bags, and other things. As for the inner bits, the bones are used for crafts and decorations, and the organs are sold on the black market. The things they make are sold in a regular market, but never advertised as what they're made of. It's always "faux" or claimed to be from another creature. The ponies who buy Red and Chrissy's products hopefully never find out what they're actually made of.

It's halfway through winter, the Fete long since passed, and the Little Palace is oddly gloomy.

Even the Shadow summoner had been more brooding than normal, and Krynn wasn't having it.

So, one day, in the darkest hours of the night, when even the darkling himself was asleep, she crept through the hallways of the Little Palace, bringing a little Falrosen winter to Ravka.

Kirigan is woken by a commotion out in the halls.

He pulls himself from bed and starts pulling his kefta on over his sleepwear, it's still early, the sun only just having risen, but Little Palace staff are already busy doing chores.

He opens the door and the reason for the commotion becomes apparent.

The top of both sides of the hallway are decorated with evergreen bough garland, lush with holly berries.

"What are those?" He asks, grasping the arm of a maid as she passes.

"I-I don't know, general," She stammers, "Th-they were there when the staff woke up."

He lets her go and she scurries off, leaving him to his confusion.

He gets dressed and goes to inspect the rest of the Little Palace.

Every hall is lined with evergreen and in every doorway hangs a plant he's never seen before.

He cuts one down, inspecting it in his hand. A plant he's never seen before... That points to only one grisha. Krynn.

He makes his way to her room, knocking heavily on the door.

She greets him a few moments later, her hair and cotton nightdress mussed from sleep, an olive green robe loosely wrapped around her.

"General?" She mumbles, her accent thick from drowsiness.

"Would you care to explain this?" He asks, holding the plant aloft between them, just above her head.

Her eyes go wide, a fond softness to them as she looks between it and him.

Instead of speaking, she reaches up, takes hold of his face, and pulls him in for a brief yet warm kiss.

He looks at her in shock, still bent over to her height.

"Is that all?" She asks as though nothing had happened. As if she hadn't just thrown his whole world for a loop, her eyebrows raised as she waits for his answer, "General Kirigan?"

"I..." He clears his throat and stands straight, "That isn't what I expected."

She laughs, "Sure it wasn't."

She shuts the door before he can ask for a further explanation, leaving him standing awkwardly in the hallway.

Something about the interaction lightens his mood for the day, until he sees her in the hallway pressing a chaste kiss to the lips of one of his tidemakers.

The other grisha finds the embrace as shocking as he had, big eyes watching her walk away with a swish of her purple kefta.

Two weeks pass and nearly a third of the Little Palace has been kissed by Krynn, some twice even.

Yet Aleksander's mood only continues to diminish, having only known her lips once and craving them every moment since. A seed of jealousy burns in his stomach whenever he's forced to see her kiss anyone else.

That fact alone has him up late one night, trying to talk himself out of falling for another mortal as he paces the halls.

That's how he found her, hearing a soft humming in the kitchens.

She'd taken note of his worsening mood, even with the brightness of evergreen and holly in the air. Her mission to bring a merry feeling to the Little Palace would not be complete until he was no longer sulking as she'd seen.

So she takes to the kitchen to prepare a plethora of Falrosen winter sweets for everyone. Who can be grumpy with a slice of spiced cake and a mug of hot chocolate?

She hums to herself as she folds together a dark chocolate icing for the gingerbread cookies cooling on the table.

"What's all this?" He asks, stepping into the warm kitchen. The air is thick with the smell of chocolate and warm spices.

"General," She breathes, "Y-"

"Aleksander, please," He interrupts and she smiles softly.

"You startled me," She blushes, "I didn't think anyone else was awake."

"Neither did I."

He stands across the counter from her, watching her continue her work.

"I thought this would be a nice surprise in the morning. Something warm to fight off the cold weather."

He takes one of the gingerbread squares and dips one corner in the bowl she's stirring.

"Hey!"

He chuckles at her exclamation, sighing when he takes a bite. It's still warm and the chocolate melts on his tongue, the bitter contrasting the sweet and a bite of ginger lightly burns at the back of his throat.

"Good?"

He looks at her like she's crazy and nods, making her giggle.

"I have no doubt," She smiles, "Though I've been told I use too much ginger, especially when it's so fresh."

"If you start spoiling my grisha with sweets like this, they won't go quietly back to the cooks' normal fare."

"Is that a warning, general?" She asks, eyeing him playfully.

''No, by all means, continue," He grins, motioning to the table, "I also benefit from this generosity."

She nods, saying something in her mother tongue and he looks at her curiously.

"Where I'm from it's called The Season of Kinship," She explains and he begins to step around the table, "We express our love and gratitude for the gods, revel in the glory of the year passed, and pray they bless the year to come."

"Revelry," He echoes, standing next to her, "With sweets."

"And other foods," She laughs, "And song, and dance, and storytelling."

"And what of the plants?" He asks, "The ones you've grown in the doorways."

"What do you mean? It's just mistletoe."

"Mistletoe?"

"Yes," She looks at him confused, "You've never heard of it?"

"Not until now."

Her cheeks flush bright red, finally understanding his reaction when she'd kissed him. She sets the bowl down and chuckles nervously, "It's a holy plant, blessed by the goddess of nature. We hang it in our doorways and kiss beneath it for good luck and to ward off the cold."

Her behavior begins to make sense now.

"I'm sorry, I thought... I didn't realize that..." She curses in Falrosen, "I must look like an idiot."

No more than he feels over his jealousy.

"No," He assures her, "It's a wonderful tradition. Just, perhaps some warning would have been nice."

"Yes..." Her voice is quiet from embarrassment.

He clears his throat, "Would you like a hand with the rest?"

He stays with her late into the night, until the cookies are iced and the spiced cakes have been removed from the oven to cool before they part ways to go to bed.

He sighs contentedly when he wakes the next morning, much later than usual.

His spirit is soaring after their time together and he strides toward the dining hall, hoping there's some spice cake left for him.

He suddenly bumps into someone as they turn a corner and he reaches to catch them when they stumble back.

The smile on his face only grows when he finds Kryn grasping his arm for stability.

"Are you alright?" He asks and she nods.

"Just startled me is all."

Her face lights up when she sees his smile, it's the happiest he's looked all winter.

His eyes flick up at the molding of the doorway, heart fluttering when he notices the mistletoe hanging from it.

Trying to not overthink his actions, he cups the back of her neck and ducks down to press his lips to hers. The kiss lasts more than twice as long as any of her others as he keeps her firmly held against him.

She trails after him when he pulls away, her cheeks flushed pink, and he smiles down at her.

"Good morning," He whispers, his breath minty as it fans across her face.

"Good morning."

He lets her go and goes about his way as though he hadn't just stolen the breath from her lungs.

As though four other grisha hadn't frozen mid-step to gawk when they saw them.

Another year passes, feelings are confessed, and soon the gloom of winter settles back in at the Little Palace.

Aleksander wakes in the dead of night, bed empty and sheets cold. He had joined Krynn there a mere three hours ago, a near hour after she'd fallen asleep.

He gets to his feet, the floor frozen beneath them, and pulls on his black robe.

He wanders into the hallway, not surprised when he finds fresh evergreen and holly hanging from the ceiling.

He follows the decorations to one of the sitting rooms where he finds her trailing garland around the outside of the fireplace.

"What a surprise," He says and she jumps.

"I thought you'd gone to bed!" She hisses over her shoulder at him, "Couldn't sleep?"

"I missed your warmth, Snowdrop," He murmurs, coming up behind her and wrapping her in his arms.

She hums, leaning into him, "You've been coming to bed later and later."

"I've been busy."

"You've been morose."

"Is that why you do this?" He chuckles, "I begin to grump and you start to decorate?"

"It worked last year," She reminds him.

"It did, didn't it?" He kisses the side of her head, smiling into her hair, "I suppose I'll have to allow it, if only to lift the spirits of the others. But..."

"But?" She looks up at him.

"It's too late now," He takes her hands, stopping their twisting and flexing, "You can finish in the morning."

She threads her fingers between his, holding them to her chest.

"No, I think I'll finish tonight."

He lets her push his hands away and continue what she had been doing, trailing a few steps behind her, like a ghost, as she does.

She's half asleep on her feet once she's finished, after a day of training her abilities and then the energy used for this, it really isn't a mystery why.

She doesn't even remember making her way back to bed, but she wakes up snuggled warmly in her darkling's arms.

"Aleksander?" She mumbles, "What time is it?"

"Nearly eleven," He answers softly, stroking her hair, "We had a late night, I thought I'd let you sleep."

"And you stayed?"

"Of course I did. It is my room, after all."

She hums, leaning up to nuzzle her face against his neck, "Mm, we should get up."

"Must we?" He groans, pulling her closer, "I'm sure Ravka could survive a single day without their Shadow summoner."

"Yes, but I'm hungry, Virre'tcha," She laughs when he doesn't let her sit up.

"I can have food brought here," He negotiates.

She squirms until he lets her loose from his hold, gazing up at her as she sits above him.

"Beautiful boy," She coos, running her fingers through his messy hair. He leans into her touch, glowing under her affections.

"You spoil me," He comments, arms hooking around her waist and burying his nose into her stomach.

"Something I'm sure I'll live to regret," She teases.

Krynn gets to the dining hall first, Aleksander having lagged behind in bed to watch her get ready for the day.

She finishes her coffee not long before he walks in, the two of them meeting under the doorway. The white of her kefta clashing brightly with his black.

"Good afternoon, General Kirigan," She smiles. He raises his chin, looking down at her with a small smile.

"Afternoon," He glances up, brows furrowing. But then mistletoe begins to grow before his eyes and he turns his gaze back to her.

One of his hands takes her hip and the other the back of her neck, pulling her against him and kissing her deeply.

He grins when she grips the lapels of his kefta, keeping him close to her.

He pulls away suddenly, leaving her breathless, his chin tilting up arrogantly, "For luck."

She grabs his face and tugs him back for another kiss, nipping at his bottom lip as she pulls away, "And to ward off the cold."

hello!! I've just started reading Watch Your Step, and i love it so far T o T !! Do you have character sheets/commissions/descriptions of what each character looks like? I'd love to draw them ^^ !!

Hey that's so sweet! I'm glad you're enjoying it!!

So, you are allowed to picture the characters differently if you think that's fun, but all the visuals that exist of all the characters should be linked in the story masterpost! But I'll recap the main details here to make it easier to reference!

Thistle

Height: 5.56 inches

Thistle probably has the greatest "open to interpretation" factor in his look. The only details that are specified in the actual text of the story is that he's bug-like enough to freak out people who are creeped out by bugs, and that he has long black hair. (That and the details of his wing being torn, as well as thing like him emoting with his ears, which implies they're probably longer than a humans'.) I personally would love to see some different takes on what that could look like, but this has been his most consistent character design.

Marcy

Marcy's only canon descriptors are that she's implied to be fat at certain points, and this contrast Thistle notes with Teddy in 1.10:

Out of all three of the giants, Teddy was the one he was the least familiar with, and the least comfortable.  She was the opposite of Marcy in a lot of ways.  Marcy was thick, Teddy was thin.  They had different skin and hair colors.  Marcy had long hair, Teddy had short.  Marcy liked looking at bugs, and Teddy hated it.  Marcy loved to touch him, handle him, examine him–loved it too much, an unsettling amount. 

She also looks "alt" enough that people assume she's a lesbian in 2.3.

Teddy and Colin

Heights: 5' 6" (Teddy) and 6'2" (Colin)

Teddy is implied to black at a few different points in the story and is contrasted with Marcy as I said earlier. Colin is specified to be white and very plain-looking in 2.3

With the power of crowd-sourcing, they even managed to find slurs to hurl at Colin, a cisgender white man who even on his most rebellious days never managed to look more countercultural than the average saltine cracker.  If the fire hose of boiling malice hadn’t been so scary, it might almost be impressive.

Colin also spends a lot of time outside, so I imagine he has perpetual tan lines.

Moon probably has the most detailed description out of anyone

But no.  He was clearly male–although possibly this was a case of using magic to change appearance without being able to change larger features of sex, such as body size, which Thistle had heard of but never seen firsthand.  But this new person’s wings were too different to be a pixie–they weren’t translucent like Thistle’s but solid and powdery like a moth’s wings, green and purple appendages stretching out behind him.  He had long, shiny black hair, braided elegantly, and his clothes were fine, no cobbled together rags like Violet and Petunia had had…finer even than Thistle’s own clothes.  And he was….fuzzy.  The ends of very soft-looking fur poked out from the top of his shirt and the ends of his sleeves.
