Every time I talk to someone about dead boy detectives I always launch into a long monologue about how angry I am that netflix canceled it.

could you share more about Prince de Silva and her Court? what is her clan and how did she become Prince? what is her relationship like with the Primogen or other roles? does she have any allies?

warning: really long. i got carried away. i just love being a filipino. i also get political

Prince de Silva (Full name: Alejandra Miriam Salvador de Silva… I know, pretty long. She’s Filipino is my excuse) is the Prince of Manila, originally just the prince of Metro Manila until some things happened and most of the region is under her control… for the most part.

She’s an eighth generation Ventrue and was born around the late early 1800s to a wealthy Filipino family which was quite rare at the time, but it was mostly because her parents were “of use” to the Spanish colonialists. Skipping some of that because my players are on here heueueueu

She was later embraced and quickly learned and adapted to the Camarilla court of Manila. Time went on, eventually she found out around the early to mid 1960’s that the former Prince’s control over the city was finally shaking. Alejandra, already an Ancilla at that point with many ties into the Camarilla, bided her time finding a way to strike and claim power. She knew of two things: the Sabbat held more control, and the former Prince was an obstacle to overcome. Alejandra gathered her most loyal, ride-or-die friends which were Louisa Mallari (Toreador primogen), Rudy Aquino (Tremere primogen), and Samuel (Nosferatu primogen) to help her succeed to the throne, promising them a better future for both them and Manila than what laid ahead of them.

In 1972, a night of brutality and blood, Alejandra gathered more Camarilla kindred to rally against the former prince. She secured the throne, immediately seizing control of everything she could get her hands on. Domains of Anarchs and Sabbat were purged of them, police were ghouled by her and her council to drive retainers into submission.

Enough of that brutal little backstory that may or may not be based off of a certain former president whose son is now the current president of this corrupted, degrading nation of mine—Prince de Silva knows who is actually of use to her.

She holds Louisa, Rudy, and Samuel to incredibely high standards, requiring their full attention over their duties. Over the years, their opinion of her has varied. Louisa, for example, has been secretly siding with the Anarchs—while Rudy, being the Tremere he is that requires the Camarilla and its hierarchy, still wants Alejandra as prince and will protect her throne due to how much Prince de Silva benefits him. Samuel, on the other hand, is in a grey area. They like Prince de Silva’s security and control over the city, however they dont agree with much of her methods (privately).

They think she’s too brutal. And for good reason.

Prince de Silva makes sure none of them are crossing her any time soon.

The Lasombra primogen was an ex Sabbat member who Alejandra forced a blood bond on out of a power trip. Serena hates Alejandra with all of her undead heart. Despises her to the point she’s actively working towards leaving Manila as a whole. Though she can’t. Because Samuel is a snitch. Alejandra keeps

Esteban Basilia is the Gangrel primogen, and he mostly stays out of Alejandra’s business unless the Prince tells him so. Alejandra likes him in a way, he’s quiet and keeps to himself unless spoken to which is something she appreciates among these loud kindred in her court.

Then you have the Harpy. Angelo Macapagal. Banu Haqim masquerading as a Toreador. Alejandra doesn’t like him, considering she’s… kind of homophobic. But she keeps him around because he’s semi decent at his job and Louisa can’t really juggle being a primogen and Harpy at the same time.

We have the Ramos’es next. Francisco Ramos is her retainer and the current chief of police of the Manila police department, and he’s responsible for being sent on raids across Manila to drive the Second Inquisition out or kill valuable kine; but for the most part, he’s responsible for being her eye during the morning. He wants to be embraced by her, Prince de Silva would laugh in his face if he asked for it. To her, he’s just a servant with a gun.

Francisco’s son, David Ramos is the Brujah Baron of Tondo. Prince de Silva has an active blood hunt on him if that helps. David has tried to assassinate her once and failed.

That then leads his domain getting raided (during a session).

Her allies as of now are the coterie which consist of very impressionable Banu Haqim, Toreador, and a Brujah. Alejandra thinks they’re quite nice enough, and is technically now their adoptive sire.

In the kindred sphere of things, Prince de Silva has Rudy and his chantry, Samuel, and Serena (although unwillingly).

Other stuff about her because i’m a certified yapper !

The day she became prince is September 21, 1972—the same day former President Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law in the Philippines.

Her character is very much inspired by real life politicians. Mostly the mentioned Marcos, and also Rodrigo Duterte.

She’s also a psychopath and views Serena and the coterie as her possessions. She cares for them, in the way someone would over a material item thats serves use to them. Like a laptop.

She knows Filipino, Spanish, English, Ilokano, and a bit of Chinese. She learned Chinese because one of her childe was Chinese-Filipino and wanted to get to know her more (to manipulate might I add). Fortunately for that guy, she’s in a different country!

She forced a blood bond on Serena because she was very curious about the Lasombra. And also because she thinks Serena is hot and uses her as arm candy from time to time

Alejandra’s relationships with characters (or just any npc relationship in MBN) represent a lot of things in Filipino culture.

For example, her and David’s very much a representation of a mother-and-child relationship though in a dramaticized way. It could also be interpreted as a David and Goliath retelling… if David survives that is. His fate lies at the hands of my players.

Prince de Silva is good at manipulating. She’s able to show one face to one person and then another face to others. To the coterie, she’s a loving—almost welcoming prince. She’s given them an apartment to share and an allowance every week to spend in exchange for them doing jobs for her. But on the other hand, she’s a woman of excellency and perfection that only requires the best from her subjects. Her court is on the constant edge because of this. Other than Esteban I guess, he’s too busy adopting every stray dog he sees. You go my Gangrel primogen
