I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to chack out the flash comics. I've always been a big fan of the batman runs and i've dipped in and out of green lantern runs but never really felt the need to explore characters outside of those runs.

Seeing how much you enjoy the flash comics made me curious about Williamson's run and i finally read it. I absolutely adore reverse flash and i have a new appreciation for barry allen as well.

i'm about to start on Geoff Johns run and i just wanted to let you know that seeing your posts about the comics was what really convinced me to read them.

so thank you for posting so much about barry allen, if it wasn't for you i never would've given his comics a chance.

I hope you're going to enjoy Johns' run as well. I love how he writes Eobard and Barry and he's VERY subtle with some things, so I had my fun reading his stuff over and over to the point of picking apart every single panel. I still find new details he hid in the crevices.

KAMI!!! Omg, I love the new chapters of MLN! Keep up the amazing work! I did have a quick question about FTL, is it on the back burner for now? I know we have the rest of MLN and the Better Brother coming up (which I’m super excited for btw) but I just wanted to set my own expectations on updates for FTL. Oh-Gee Bear Squad

Wanted to do my take on these four, here's my takes on them and a loose idea for how their personalities would be.

CTL is just the sweet, but reliable leader of the group who always tries to find the good in everything. Her design is more or less the same, bar for her having a more exaggerated lazy eye at times.

Panda is almost always tired and hungry, ready to snack up and pass out whenever possible. Though that's not to say she's not a good fighter. Let her have a quick nap and she's quick to prove herself as a nimble and resilient fighter. Also replaced her battle boots with some slippers.

FTL is the shortest one amongst all 13 bears, but don't let that fool you into thinking she's all sugar and spice. She's one of the mose no nonsense people you'll come across, taking her unofficial job of CTL's right paw bear seriously. Shes loud, she will not tolerate anything less than 100% respect towards her and her authority, and despite her stout stature isn't one to be rifled with. Just like her name sake, her temper is just as explosive. Other design changes made include her armband dinning red, white, and blue stripes; her scar donning more of a star shape, a whistle (because what good military instructor doesn't have one?), and a small tattoo on her arm similar to the chapter 1 defaults.

Finally comes Spooky Team Leader. The tallest of the bears, reaching a whopping 6'5— this "bear" may not be all what she seems. Regardless, she's a fiercely loyal friend and dangerously fearsome for should you get on her bad side. Or if she's hungry. Do NOT let her get hungry. Her design is disjointed, feral looking, and overall I wanted to have that feeling of her being less of a bear, and more of a "Alien/Monster taking form of an anthropomorphic bear". Like she's creepy, but overall you can tell he's got some good hearts. ❤️❤️❤️

(AA) the last NOTEWORTHY things that happen are him showing Phoenix and Blue the crystal/gems in Velkhana’s lair, him gushing about Phoenix when she and Blue face Shara (“I LOVE that woman❤️❤️❤️” Admiral: she totally tops you doesn’t she? FTL: *CHOKES*) Alatreon (Phoenix tells FTL to sit down and listen because YES he IS 100% REAL) and Fatalis (“I’m still going to slay that thing, Aiden. Are you with me?” “…yeah, yeah I’m with you, Phoenix” and they finally get to hunt together, his dream wow!)

ohhhh the crystals,,,, velkhana's crystals are SO pretty aiden would have an absolute field day with them, prime Gift Giving Material right there

The “adopting a pet” part is pretty awesome for scheduling.

I can set my watch by my cat’s habits.

Example:

I have a modular couch. It’s like having a twin-seat high-backed comfy chair shaped like a wedge and several other square comfy chairs that you can arrange around it.

Every day at about 4pm my cat likes to sit on the couch-top of the comfy chair nearest to me.

She does it super-stealthily. Like I don’t even notice her moving into position because she knows I’m working so I’m in a flow state and my brain is elsewhere.

But within a couple of minutes of 4PM I suddenly realize I am being quietly perforated by her feline gaze.

She is staring deeply through me, hurling a telepathic feedmefeedmefeedmefeedme vibe because the second work from home is done and I get up she will make an FTL jump towards the kitchen and teleport in front of her food bowl, meowing (feedmefeedmefeedmefeedme).

And I can set my watch to this. Just like in the mornings after my alarm clock rings and I take my meds I go back and drowse while waiting for them to kick in.

And I know that a few minutes before the next alarm rings, I will get the softest nudge to one hand, or feel a little pressure as she puts her forehead against my palm, her customary morning greeting. It’s also food motivated, but she knows that I can’t possibly feed her unless I’m in the food-room.

And the wake-up room is faaaaar away from the food-room so she’s engaging me and motivating me to get up, to move around, and to pet her because she knows this will gradually spin up the executive functions and I will get myself up and at ‘em and she knows that food comes a few minutes later.

At the end of the day, she’ll come sit with me when I go play video games. And before it gets too late she’ll start asking for attention and cuddles because she knows I love to give cuddles at the end of the day and if I do it’ll break the video-game flow state and I’ll realize it’s half-past ten and she wants us to go to the sleep-room (which is conveniently the afore-mentioned wake-up room).

So yes.

Pets can help you with schedules because you can set your watch down to the minute by the growling of their tummies and the wide open yawns when it’s time to sleep/nap.

And my cat helps with body doubling, too. If I go to a different room she’ll follow in a fairly short period of time because she’s a sociable little creature.

Like right now she’s helping me organize my room.

Yeah, she’s not helping directly but she’s being companionable which is what counts. ❤️

Speaking of ONI…isn’t Sullivan one of the Circinius survivors? The guy who cracked ONI encryption? What if he IS ONI now?

I just got an amusing little scene in my head of Sullivan reading some report going “Lasky? As in…oh. Oh, no. Tom Lasky. Tom F—-ing Lasky. Of course it’s him. OF COURSE.” And then goes to one of his superiors like “Listen you are barking up the wrong tree.”

Yeah that’s why I imagine a more reluctant version of Captain Sheridan. Lasky wouldn’t want the pedestal or the spotlight. I can picture him saying something like “I wasn’t looking to be Public Enemy #1 here, just quit trying to make your Navy into executioners and I’ll turn this whole fleet around and pretend nothing ever happened.” He’s perfectly fine playing the UNSC like a freakin banjo as long as it’s on the down-low but is less comfortable outright telling them off. And he REALLY would not want to take anyone else down this road to hell.

Incidentally that’s much the role I have him filling in my B5/Halo brain rot—“Why yes I DO have FTL capability way faster than yours and weapons signatures your systems can’t track, I would be HAPPY to carry out this stealth op while you all sit here looking innocent.” Which is why it’s so much fun to picture him in a situation where his typical subterfuge won’t cut it.

Heeheeheehee I may be having too much evil fun in this sandbox but storylines like this are utter crack for me. ❤️😆

A very rough idea for an AU where Lasky and the Infinity go rogue. Tried to make it easy to read and skip the notes, but eh. It's rough, what can I say.

He'd spent the entire slipspace trip trying to justify the orders. Trying to rationalize them.

He'd done the same thing when Osman had ordered him to execute Dr. Halsey.

Not execute...to murder.

Since [Last Major Thing...Covenant war?], there had been a few years of relative peace. Something Thomas hadn't seen since Circinus...

But something in the back of his mind told him it wouldn't last, and sure enough as soon as the outer colonies had approached the UEG and asked for independence (something something the UEG goes oh hah yeah fucking right losers) the Insurrection had once more boiled into a full-blown war. And this time, the insurrectionists had new allies; former Covenant were all too happy to supply the Insurrectionists with weapons and ships (something the UNSC hasn't been able to put down the rebellion or at least keep it in check near as well? as they had prior to the covenant war, so they decide to bring Infinity in for another refit, add a bunch of PDCs and idk maybe replace the spine mounted mac cannons with something like the covenant's plasma weapons? The ones u can steer using magnets so the ship doesn't have to turn or whatever)

The bridge was silent. Nobody moved from their post, the crew simply stayed in place, looking at him expectantly.

(Lasky spends the whole trip to X system agonizing over his order to slap down a whole colony just bc they want to be left alone, and can't find a way to rationalize it. Does he hear rumors that others share his discontent with their orders? Sarah would take his side and probably grouse abt it. Infinity gets to X system and Communication with the colony is had, at which point Lasky decides that court martial is better than having blood on his hands over this bullshit. Maybe FLEETCOM is all like Lasky why the fuck arent you mopping the floor w these colonists yet and he just straight up says he's not gonna and cuts transmission, 'you'll have to replace me' or smth.)

"Sir," Roland said as his avatar appeared in the holotank "I think I speak for the crew when I say we're with you."

(Lasky is anxious but this decision feels much better, especially with support from the crew and Palmer, he prepares to make his move)

"Roland, please mark all UNSC assets not attached to Infinity as 'hostile'."

"Yes, sir!" he replied. Almost instantly, a cascade of markers flipping from green to read spread outward from the Infinity's immediate vicinity.

(radio chatter goes from routine to surprised chaos as UNSC and Insurrectionists realize that the Infinity's IFF has changed, along with the IFF tags of almost all of her compliment of ships)

"Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war." Tom muttered quietly.

Contrary to popular belief I love friends to lovers when done well, and it's funny one of my fave FtL of all times had Alfie Enoch playing one half of the ship 🤭 My problem with Corayne x Andry is that they would fit the trope "girl falls for the first age appropriate boy she runs into on her quest", and I could get past that awful trope if they had good chemistry... but they don't. They serve siblings-friends chemistry so it feels weird. They are both kind, idealistic, filled with good intentions, and noble hearts, also they are both so serious, vanilla with vanilla ice cream. Like, give me a Kenji, a Nikolai to compliment Corayne's serious demeanor👏👏 I honestly had very very high hopes for mlm Andry. When Lemon showed up I almost cheered for a minute there... but no.

I think they will be endgame but it's a terrible decision. If you're going to have an Ivy (the librarian from The Mummy❤️) type of character, you need to balance them out with a Rick (the rogue from The Mummy) type of character to create compelling scenes and not the snooze fest Corayne x Andry "romantic" interactions create.

Edit: I have zero hope for a wlw Corayne bc it's the character VA projects herself onto, and that woman is as straight as a ruler.

I’m not a fan of a potential Corayne x Andry ship because it’s like we’re to assume they’re a thing only because they’re the two teeenagers (m/f) together on a quest. Apart from a little crushing on Andry’s side, I detect no chemistry. TBH, I hope Andry finds another love interest and that Corayne is queer. But the next books can always evolve in the romantic aspect and I like the first book has little obvious romance (besides the villain romance and the vague potential of Sorasa x Dom, my fave ship so far). We’re just so used to obvious romance in YA novels I can’t help thinking there must be one like Corayne x Andry but I’d be glad if Aveyard went a different route - or makes Corayne x Andry a well-developed slow-burn also because Corayne is EG demisexual/aspec and takes longer to fall in love and I desperate need better aro-ace spectrum representation.

Though Aveyard also likened Andry to Kilorn (while the comparisons made me cringe because the characters of both series shouldn’t be put into the same boxes like that, it does Aveyard a disservice) so maybe he is mainly supposed to be Corayne’s friend as well?
