THE PERFECTIONISTS 1x08 ‘HOOK, LINE AND BOOKER’ THOUGHTS & THEORIES

1x08 OFFICIALLY ONE OF MY FAVOURITE EPISODES OF TP THUS FAR.

- The opening scene was PURE GOLD. I love how they opened it with Mona saying ‘So now that we know that Dana is our A, we have to find out as much about her as possible.” and this brought up a few thoughts, if we look at the timeline or rather evolution of the ‘A’ identity, Dana is most likely the Mona equivalent of A. The A’s progressively got worse from A - Big A??? Bad?? - AD. Dana has her own agenda, and I believe this agenda is completely unrelated to Nolan.

“You want to profile her. I did a report on criminal psychology last year and in order to catch a psychopath you have to identify their personality and behavioural traits so you can know what kind of psychopath you’re dealing with.’ - Caitlin

And Mona replies “Thank you Spencer.” to which Caitlin replies “I’m Caitlin.”

If the writers were to take homage from the books, this quote alone could initiate Caitlin as Nolan’s murderer - We’ve all pointed out the similarities between Caitlin and Spencer and now the show is even connecting them from Caitlin working with Senator Hastings to Mona’s witty little ‘Thank you Spencer’ remark. Why am I making this connection? I talked earlier about the evolution of A and who was our final A? none other than Spencer’s twin, Alex Drake. (Spoiler alert for the TP books)

In the books, Julie is the one who killed Nolan under the personality of Parker, her deceased best friend. Caitlin’s full name is Caitlin Park-Lewis.

It’s possibly a STRETCH but - Caitlin is similar to Spencer, Spencer’s twin was AD, Caitlin is most likely our Julie / Parker equivalent. She could’ve killed Nolan under a different personality?

- What’s on Jeremy’s computer? I’m forever suspicious of Jeremy. He works for Hotchkiss and the encryptions on his laptop are not Hotchkiss encryptions.

- DID YOU MISS ME? Hate all you want but one of the most iconic lines from Pretty Little Liars. Dead girl to dead girl, ‘Did you miss me’ Just this whole scene in general is GREAT. Mona just popping up in classic Mona style all ‘I’m Mona, I stole your RV.” I laughed for a minute straight at the classic ness of this scene and the way Mona holds onto Taylor’s hand and tells her she’ll never be part of the inner circle.

- Mention of the twins. Who are the twins? Marlene, I would be entirely greatful to you if you aren’t hinting at another twin being our murderer.

- Calling it now. The unlikely romance between Ava and Zac. We already have a conversation of him not wanting to be back at square on with her and pretending to like cats to relate to her. The dynamic between them has shifted completely, and FAST. AVA’S SNORT OMG. SHE IS THE CUTEST

- Damn, Ava wasn’t quick enough. Dylan’s tutor is enjoying the file that wasn’t deleted fast enough. Yes Dylan, keep playing and sending over cheat files. Good boy. Model student.

- I dislike it very much when people downplay their work - Jeremy calling his work boring just rubs me the absolute wrong way after I’ve spiritually awoken and worked on my self love. Nobody should play their achievements. ‘Why the sudden interest in my job and my laptop?’ and then proceeds to take a secret phone call.. We are being made to be suspicious of Jeremy and we’ve already had our red herring, Mason and so this could be placing the puzzle pieces together to the picture of Jeremy.

- Speed dating. I have to applaud Marlene for this concept and the part where Alison says ‘I know an Aurguetine baker who makes all his cakes without condoms’ Alison, you know a baker who doesn’t use condoms to make his baked goods? But the condoms are a vital safety requirement for any baker. 😂 He’s correct Alison, you need to stop using apps and get a tutor and I’m pretty sure this guy is happy to supply condoms for the baking you do together :))))

- Mona stop being stubborn. You and Taylor are paying for the same team. Team work is a crucial part of being path of a TEAM. Mona’s always weary of anyone who operates like her.

Mona: What’s you’re favourite colour?

Dana: Blue. Why did you bring Alison to Beacon Heights?

Mona: I didn’t. Miss Hotchkiss did. If you could meet one historical figure who would it be?

Dana: Why do you care?

Mona: can’t answer a question with a question. Didn’t you hear the rules?

Dana: Amelia Aerheart after she went missing

Mona: Of course

Dana: Where’s your safe place?

Mona: if I told you it wouldn’t be safe anymore. Why did you go into law enforcement?

Dana: My younger sister was bullied in high school. She killed herself. Bullies got away with it (WE HAVE OUR ANSWER)

Mona: Bullies.. isn’t it funny that we become the thing that we hate?

- Would someone please inform Dana Booker that she’s no longer part of the FBI and therefore she cannot intrude herself into someone’s home and open with the words ‘I don’t care’. Why does Dana even care where Alison, Caitlin and Ava were the night of Nolan’s murder? She doesn’t have the authority to ask these questions yet here she is pushing boundaries and using blackmail on Dylan.

- Ava and Caitlin bonding. This is what I wanted. I prefer the Dylan and Ava dynamic but I’m all for some women supporting women.

- I’m already dreading coming on to social media and reading through the TP hashtags as I do every week because of the fact that Alison referred to her ex wife whilst getting to know someone else. The Emison hardcores are going to make this entire AMAZING episode about this one little part. I’m tired honestly. Oh and let’s take a moment to remember that Alison Dilaurentis is BISEXUAL - someone whose attracted to both genders.

- The mission statement of BHU is changing to a healthier dynamic and I have to say that makes me happy.

- Jeremy slamming that laptop shut when Caitlin walks in the room. What are you hiding Jeremy in your secret files? He’s very very secretive, his expression changes and suddenly he has to leave but not before telling Caitlin he loves her. Is this one of those remember I love you when you find out mydark secret I’ve been keeping from you instances?

- I am still suspicious of Claire. She’s changed the policies of BHU just as Taylor gets back and is acting like the loving mother.

- I’m Caitlin. I’d follow Jeremy too. Look at him being all possessive of that secret ass encrypted laptop.

- Booker is genuinely annoying creating an alibi for Dylan for her own gain. Omg. I didn’t even know Mona and Ava were there listening and recording that exchange between Dylan and Dana.

- I never thought I’d need to hear Stitches played on the cello but Hello cello, you satisfy me with Shawn Mendes. So many flashback montages in this episode. That’s something I loved about the original.

- Alison and Mona having a stable friendship is exactly what I needed. This is what I wanted when Alison came back. At least in their adult years, I wanted Mona and Alison to put everything aside.

- Marlene’s strong attributes - the music choices. I’ve always loved the music selection in the show and this song playing over the scene of Mona deleting Mason’s message is beautiful.

- Why are Mona’s love interest always men with names beginning with M? I mean I’ll always love what was of Mona and Mike but I’m happy to see her happy with someone again.

- Omg when Jeremy told Caitlin to get in the car, it instantly took me back to Spencer and Mona in the car when Mona revealed herself as A. What if Jeremy reveals he killed Nolan in the next episode to Caitlin
