being jewish this time of year is never great but the jewish-muslim solidarity is very appreciated
#text#i’ve been reading some articles/interviews abt jews talking abt how they feel about christmas#and i understand the viewpoint of never owning a christmas tree and only piggybacking off of someone else’s#i understand it also as a deep seated discomfort with assimilation no matter how sweet or non harm causing#i worked christmas eve today with one of the muslim pharmacists and it was a nice silent acknowledgement of why we were both there#and how christmas doesn’t really mean much to either of us but it does to the store directors and customers#it is nice to be wished merry christmas even though i wear my judaism on my name tag but still. very odd. slightly alienating as usual#every time it’s a major christian holiday and i am swept into the sea of whiteness i think what it would be like if christianity didn’t#rule this place or rather very merrily haunt it#and i wish the only jewish run government in the world wasn’t also a genocidal and colonial one#but hey.
