Hiii tracey!! You know I absolutely adore your arts!! Seeing your comics made me wanna try drawing one too, but the idea scares me. I feel like i have to know how to do compositions, backgrounds, effects, choose the right panels etc etc (tho ofc i really just have to try it). Do you have any tips or resources on how to make it less intimidating 👉👈

I find backgrounds and panel layouts tough too and effects takes me longest but there’s no right or wrong way to approach it and all I can suggest is go easy on yourself and just go for it! Honestly there’re some pages in my past comics that are painful to see because I’ve forced panels around to fit in exposition or set up for something later but who’ll know apart from myself

Your figure drawing is so gorgeous too! So good at illustrating movement! just being able to tell a story through body language I like to do too and just doing that is a great way to start. Forget about backgrounds and everything else if it’s putting too much pressure and go at your own pace. Like Calvin and Hobbs if you’ve ever read any of that?

I don’t often draw backgrounds either, I’m not sure how much detail you want to go but my last comic I drew an establishing environment to set the scene and that’s it

One saving grace in making HL comics is it’s already set in a well established world and most would instantly recognise places if given the right prompts (four long tables = great hall) I play on PS5 and I’ve got so many screenshots of place references 😅

Some panels are literal trace overs of screenshots and I do anything and everything to make life easier (the Beast class bullies had the most backgrounds as it jumped around scenes so much) i find filtered images too jarring against my drawing too

My comfort approach is rule of thirds for composition and is I think a great way to start establishing frames and once you get more comfortable you can start playing around with it

Effects I’ve copied from comics I liked as I had no idea where to start too, I have no consistency either it changes because I’ve forgotten what I did before 😅

Panel layout I’m still finding my way too, I often don’t plan linearly, I’ll have keyframe panels (in green) and is finding the rhythm getting point A to B is loose and fun to navigate. and there’s so much of my earlier comics I’d like to change with what I learned now but I digress

This is just my approach and I’m definitely no expert but am happy to help anyway I can. I’m always copying or taking reference from films and comics I like too, taking elements that I like so much about it and let it influence and inform my own style.

If anything I’m nervous for the next one I’m working on now, emotional angst is definitely out of my comfort zone 😭 and I’m no writer like you are

When Y/n got an e-mail from Ruby’s school saying that they were going to have a father daughter dance, the first thing she did was make sure Charles was free of anything F1 related. She then texted Charles a screenshot of the e-mail. Charles was far too excited when he got the message. He started to book nail appointments and asked around with his friends who had kids on which shop had the best dresses for little kids. He truly wanted everything to be perfect. He had even asked Pascale if she could do Ruby’s hair for the dance, which she happily accepted.

“Okay, let’s go Ruby Jules, we only have a week until the dance and we still have to get your dress!” Charles called out from the bottom of the stairs.

“I’m a pretty princess! I’m a pretty princess! I’m a pretty princess!” Ruby sang as she walked down the stairs with her little purse that Charles bought for her.

The father daughter duo went to multiple shops in Monte Carlo and by 2 PM, Ruby had finally found the perfect dress. Before they could continue with finding her shoes, they decided to eat so Charles drove to their favorite restaurant.

“There’s this girl in my class and she says her maman is putting makeup on her for the dance.” Ruby told Charles as they ate their lunch.

“If this is your way of asking if you can put makeup on, the answer is no.” Charles replied.

“But it’s glittery! Maman has pretty lipgloss.”

“You can put a little and that’s it.”

Ruby groaned. “When can I put the rest on?”

“When you’re older.” Charles replied.

“Old like you?” Ruby asked honestly.

“Just eat your food.”

The day before the dance came and Ruby was watching the dancing scene from ‘Beauty and The Beast’. She watched Belle’s movements and copied them exactly. She even wore her favorite pink tutu so she could feel like a princess. She wanted to be like Belle so she searched for a pair of her maman’s heels and put the on her tiny feet.

“See? You have to do it like the Beast! You’re noticing right.” Ruby explained to her papa.

“You’re a better dancer than me, Mon amour. I don’t know how to dance.” Charles admitted.

“Grab my hand and I’ll show you.” Ruby reached out to him.

“If I fall, I’m taking you down with me.”

When Y/n got home from grocery shopping, she found Ruby and Charles on the floor giggling. She found it cute until she saw her heels she wore at her wedding on the floor.

“You look so beautiful, Ruby! Let me take a picture so I can send it to your uncles and aunts. Oh, my sweet girl.” Pascale placed a kiss on the girl’s cheek. She had just finished doing Ruby’s hair.

Ruby smiled at Paascale camera and even did a pose. Pascale then called for Charles, who was just done with his tie, to take a picture with his daughter. The father and daughter smiled as Pascale took multiple pictures.

“Papa, can you stand right there?” Ruby pointed to the spot next to Pascale. “Wait, come here, your hair isn’t pretty enough! It has to be likes this!” She ‘fixed’ his hair like she saw her grand-mère do to him thousands of times before.

“Mon amour, it’s fine. Where do you want me to stand?” Ruby pointed again to where she wanted him.

Charles was confused, but he did was he was told. “Grand-mère, take a picture of me like this please!” Ruby then did a couple poses of her own with her tongue sticking out and holding up a peace sign.

“You sneaky girl.”

“You two look so adorable.” Y/n awed at her family. “Hopefully Mathéo has a mother son dance. Is that a thing? It better be.”

“If not, we can always make one right here,” Charles placed a kiss on Y/n’s lips. “We have to go, don’t wait up, this princess and I are going to party all night.”

In reality, by 9:30 PM, they were both knocked out on the sofa since all the dancing and eating many slices of cake tired them out.

God i finally caught up with this book i have been putting it off because lilia is one of my favorite characters I couldn’t handle seeing the implication that he’s going to die and the diasomnia family's reaction to it

But i finally recovered and steeled myself to be able to continue this chapter

God poor silver he definitely was going through it this whole book please give this man a break.

I teared up (and even cried) at all the moments he was crying on🥹 PLS NO MORE I HAVE NO MORE TEARS TO GIVE

gotta say i enjoyed knowing more about silver and sebek and how they get to know each other and how their relationship is like

They feel like such opposite but have a little of similarities? If this makes sense lol

I loved sebek's confrontation to silver when silver discovered the truth! It shows how much he cared. And honestly it was kinda funny silver crying and saying that lilia must have hated him and then sebek just goes

Gotta say tho diasomnia fans winning we get to know SO MUCH about them. I especially enjoyed getting all these chapters about lilia's past I’m so glad we get to see the things he went through!! The fact that he was involved in everyone's (from diasomnia) childhood and how he grew and changed his mindset on certain things🥺 i want to hug him he didn’t deserve all the hardships😔😔

Even though i cried multiple times i still enjoyed these parts of the book a lot and it showed me that there is still hope that things will get better. Looking forward for the next part(which will release this month) to see ignihyde's involvement on this book? Maybe?

BUT YES . phanpara ….. i’m not gonna lie to you anon getting it downloaded on ios was a whole trial of will but 😭😭 it’s actually. fairly simple. it’s easier on android (you just need to download a bunch of apps to emulate it!!) but on ios you need to manually change your appstore region to japan. and then download a vpn app. the biggest downside w ios is that there aren’t really any good translator apps!! :(( on android you can get bubble translate which lets you translate on screen text really easily…. but you won’t get anything like that on ios. so you won’t understand what the characters are saying (unless you take screenshots and throw them into an image translator)….

buuut if you’re still fine with that!! (assuming you have ios and not android)…. then i’ll leave the instructions down below :33 i’ll try to make them as clear as possible but just ask if you have any more questions!! i’d love to help!!! phanpara is sm fun…

ok so . here are all the steps !!

1) make a new appstore account!!

this step is easy :3 … i don’t. remember how i did it tho. pretty sure you just go to the appstore browser page?? or something.., and then you obv just need to add a name and a functional email address!

when you’ve made a new account, make sure that your ios is logged into it . just go to settings -> click your profile -> click on the appstore icon -> log out from your usual account and log in on the new one!! then you just need to press ”show account” to go to the next step.

2) change your region to japan!!

this is the complicated step. it’s not really that complicated though it just took me a while to figure it out 😭😭 you can use this site for reference if my descriptions confuse you lol

when you try to change your region to japan, you’ll be forced to add your name and your address. you can use your normal name (assuming it’s made up of english letters), but you’ll need to generate a jp address!! it’s actually kinda easy. this is the website i used!! it lists all the information you need in the correct order, so just . copy and paste into the settings . (i believe you’ll need to choose the prefecture manually, so just look at the prefecture name on the website and match it with the options ios gives you!!) street name, prefecture, city, zip code, phone number… etcetc. this may or may not be an illegal process but if you’re a gacha enjoyer i’m assuming you like living life on the edge.

you’ll also get the option to add a payment method, but you should be able to skip it by choosing the option at the bottom. this is important because otherwise it won’t let you change your region (unless you happen to have a japanese credit card hanging around)….

when you’ve entered all the necessary information, click the blue text in the top right corner to move on!! if you’ve done everything correctly you should be taken to the jp appstore :3

3) download phanpara + ovpnspider!!

now you’re almost done!!! downloading phanpara should be easy, just search for it in the appstore and. well. download it. when i did this i had to click through some ios popup page..??? but just . click your way through it. trial and error. until it lets you download the app <33

while phanpara is loading, download ovpnspider!! this one is super easy and doesn’t take up much space at all. when it’s finished downloading, just go into the app, go to the ”jp” folder and connect to one of the vpns!! the status has to be ”alive”, but any of them should work :3

4) play phanpara !!

now you should be good to go <33 the only issue is that the vpn can be a little difficult sometimes. phanpara might take a bit to load, and throw you out if the vpn disconnects, but as long as you just exit the app and change the vpn there shouldn’t be any issues. could be a little bothersome sometimes but you get used to it quickly!! just make sure that you’re connected to a vpn, enter phanpara, and play :33 for me it takes up roughly 5gbs of space, so make sure your phone can handle it!!

aaaaand that’s it <333 i’m sorry if this is just. gibberish 😭😭 or if i’m making it sound more complicated than it is …. and pls let me know if it works for you!!! i’d love to be friends in game if you make an account :33 then you’ll be able to use my gojo in battle … hehehe ……..

so the dusknoir fic has not left my head since morning and im gonna make it your problem /j.

i like to think that a reason as to why dusknoir was having such a crisis when parental instincts kicked in is because theres still a lot of baggage to unpack when coming to terms with what he had done, and how he sees bits and fractions of it in the current day with aimilios and ribbons.

ribbons decides to relax on his plumage collar thing? instant flashback to back when she was but a teeny tiny eevee, and he was the great adorement in which she so willingly and delightfully looked up towards. back when he chose to play along.

aimilios holds his hand close, and just yammers on about whatever it is that happened in his day? instant flashback to back when the boy was but a timid riolu, not wanting to bother/be of inconvenience to someone like dusknoir, to the point where he didn't believe that dusknoir *should.* back when dusknoir was so caught up in playing House with these two, that he might have just felt a pinch of guilt to what he was about to do next. *might*.

the kids are justifiably worried about him, and actively wish for to be better because they care? instant flashback to the time where the same had happened, and look what became of that.

every action, every gesture of kindness, any word of appreciation is rooted in such turmoil. a voice that constantly beckons and taunts him with how all this could have been possible before if he was not such a *coward.* if he wasn't so caught up in his own fear and self preservation, he could have been someone else, someone whos atonement isnt holding him by the neck like a dog.

in short terms, dusknoir doesn't believe himself to be their father because there is no way he deserves to be called as such. a father loves his children, a father proves to be trustworthy and caring, a father will do everything to ensure the safety of his kids, and even if he *does* prove all those beliefs to be true, does that ever change the volume of the echo that those six dreaded words he uttered to be any lower? does that make his hands any less stained?

You grunt in reply and puld the blanket over your cold body. Howard is already up, enthusiastic as always. But today you’re too tired for that. 

“Come on now… You’ve been snoozing for 20 minutes!”

“I don’t want to…”

His smile fades and he sits down on bed next to you.

“You alright?” He reaches out to stroke your cheek and notices how cold-sweaty you are. “Hmm… That’s not good.” 

“I don’t feel well.”

“I know, sweetie, I know…” 

I feel like he’d be like: YOU’RE SICK??? 😰 at first

But then be like: You’re sick… 💔 If that makes sense LOL

Probably scared of catching a cold etc

But he loves you - so it’s worth the risk 😌✨

Howard is the guy that helps you with everything once sick

He fixes food, makes sure you keep warmth and makes warm tea etc

He basically acts like a maid for you until you feel better lol

But he doesn’t mind, at all <3

He likes taking care of and spoiling you

“No, I actually feel quite warm” He looks concerned and feels your forehead “Your fever is not going down… Do you want something cold instead? Water, ice cream… Are you laughing?” “Sorry… You’re just so cute when you’re worried!”

Also… You being sick gives him an excuse to just sit back down and cuddle you

He allows himself to be “lazy” (aka taking a break and not overworking) when you’re around

He loves to set you down in the couch and put on some movie to watch together

If he can’t be at home with you - he texts or calls you at least once throughout the day to check on you 

It doesn’t matter if you only have a simple cold, he’ll take care of you until you feel ok again 

He probably would end up sick too 😭 “But at least we can stay home together now!” he says after waking up with the same cold you had. “...But Howard, I need to go back to work today” “...Oh ☹” But you’re of course there for him too until he feels better <3

back in june when the whole “dan berry on a magnet” thing was at its peak, melody had mentioned that she loves seeing peoples dan berry edits and stuff. i made some when i was bored and also high tbh and sent them to her on insta BUT i used my burner acct that looks really sus.

i sent melody those edits and she reposted one of them on her story and then blocked me. i laugh about it because im like 99% sure that the only reason she blocked me was because of how sus the account i dmed her from looked so it’s not like there’s bad blood or beef or anything lol.

so i made those edits into magnets and i gave dan and melody them at the stage door yesterday. Dan came out first and i told him the lore behind the magnets and he said he loved the magnets and laughed and said that melody would find the whole story funny and he wanted to tell her. when melody came out and i gave her the magnets she immediately said she remembered the edits and that she loved them and she said “dan berry on a magnet will never die” which i thought was funny. but anyways i told her there was lore behind the magnets but she’d have to ask dan and she said that she was going to ask him immediately because she was dying to find out the story 😭😭😭

but to sum it up, i’m not blocked by melody for any bad reason, it’s just a funny misunderstanding so it’s all good. i wish i had put my instagram or something on the magnets so that i could get some closure in the story but oh well 🤪

i love x6! even tho i have a lot of issues w how the institute/synth storyline is written. it’s worth saying right off the bat that the institute in my canon does not operate exactly as they do in the actual game, so that influences some things here. he was still a courser, in this case seen as pretty much father’s (who is not shaun btw) righthand man. he and bunny don’t interact a ton during her time at the institute, but there was still mutual respect between them and she does make sure he’s able to get out before the place explodes. but she doesn’t see him once everyone is out so for a long time she’s actually not sure if he survived.

so with all that said. he’s not immediately part of bunny’s group bc i think he’s still processing a lot post-institute demise. i feel like a lot of interpretations of x6 gloss over the fact that you literally destroy his home and how traumatizing that is, and so i never really liked that he can still just stick around w the sole survivor regardless? idc if i like someone, if they caused me to lose my home, i wouldn’t want to be around them. i feel like he just gets a lot of his agency removed in a lot of readings of him. so w that in mind, he disappears after the institute is destroyed. he needs time to reflect and process his own grief. figure out where to go from here.

but he does show up again, closer to about two years after the institute was destroyed. he returns bc i think he’s interesting and his post-game roles bring up a lot of fascinating questions and dynamics to explore. i actually think him showing up would be a point of contention w desdemona of all people bc des has some really…intense opinions towards coursers and as such would not be the most immediately accepting of his arrival. i think bunny and preston are more willing to recognize that they still destroyed everything this man had and are more open to talking.

as i continue to work on my post-game canon tho i’ve been struck by the thought of him ultimately going to acadia. i think there’s so much potential in things like his dynamics w chase and DiMA in particular, especially now that the institute is gone.

Indicating The Overlord probably amputated it as punishment for the Techno Blades. The little part of his wrist that is black is what leads me to believe that it was actually his whole arm and not just the hand.

Also off topic but on as well to help give you a little something extra to learn, he's a Canonical Ambulatory Wheelchair user (Unheard of in Childrens Animation hes the only one I can recall I've seen ever) he can fully move his legs we've seen indications of him even being able to stand and walk you can see that one foot is turned up and he was using his legs to push himself towards the time blade (S7 Ep 3 if I remember correctly it's when Kai and Krux clashed just after Cyrus was kidnapped)

Even in crystallized with that one moment Pixal runs in if you look in the background you can see a moving staircase indicating he can probably walk up the stairs but that's probably the limitation of him and also he has assistance to walk as he has the railings to lean on and use

I always commend the Ninjago crew with Cyrus Borg because they had to do their research on wheelchair users in general only about 15% of wheelchair users are actually paralyzed. The rest of the 85 percent are like me Ambulatory we can stand and walk but due to our conditions, it can be a struggle for some it can even be a safety hazard.

This is actually what led to my theory that he suffers from a condition called spina bifida it's a condition where the baby's spinal cord at Birth is exposed due to an opening in the back that doesn't close, leading to many health problems but one of them being the weakening of the legs so a person can require a wheelchair to get around but also can stand and walk to a certain degree.

Cyrus Borg if people would give him another glance and dig into what little we have of what has been shown it they actually managed to put a lot of complexities with him in the subtle details.

If you need further proof of the ambulatory as well I know there's a second moment in crystallized if you look very very closely he's pushing himself using his feet it's a blink and you miss it moment but I sure didn't haha,

Okay, so, I just went on Lucas’s route again and - just for you! - participated in Operation Nope so he would break up with me. Here are some screenshots I put together because I think they’ll show why I do think that, yes, he does forgive you.

This is the morning after the party where everyone found out about Lottie’s and Gary’s kiss and about MC’s and Noah’s kiss. He is pretty hurt which just goes to show that he actually developed feelings for MC. (Also, we went all the way in the hideaway and as someone who doesn’t get into bed with just anyone, that’s a huge deal for Lucas!) He’s confused, he doesn’t know what to do but he doesn’t want to push her away just like that either.

My MC went on Jakub’s date and despite him being so hurt by her kissing Noah, he’s still smug about the fact that she didn’t enjoy the date with Jakub. Why would he act like that if he didn’t give a shit?

He breaks up with MC despite her apologising and telling him again that she still wants him. But from his reaction you can see that he’s just doing it to protect himself from getting hurt even more. And it hurts him breaking up with MC, too.

[The next day] Lucas didn’t just “get over it all” nor did he move on just like that. He’s legitimately hurt by what happened and doesn’t know how to behave or how to pretend like everything is fine.

Then there’s the cake-baking challenge they have to do together because they’re still a couple and that’s where it gets interesting. The banter and the sexual tension between them is still there 👀 (I mean, duh, it won’t just disappear overnight)

During the challenge, everything felt so easy and normal with him. It almost felt as if nothing had happened and then MC decided to show Lucas that she could very well eat that whole cake by herself. And it earned her his fave t-shirt, too. And look how he’s treating her, my heart was bleeding! 😭💔

[The disaster recoupling] I seriously think we were always supposed to participate in ON and kiss Noah because otherwise it doesn’t make any sense that Lucas would “meaningfully look at Noah” during the recoupling. He couldn’t care less about Priya, it’s Hope and MC he fancies.

This is what Hope told Priya on the last day of CA before we were to head back to the main villa and I couldn’t help but think, what if she knows something we don’t know? Because she doesn’t say that when it’s Priya who is coupled up with Noah… Also, Priya tells us later she isn’t sure this thing with Lucas has any potential and she’s right about that because in my opinion, Lucas never got over MC. He didn’t even try to!

Especially the line “We haven’t really worked out how we feel about each other yet” hits so differently now that we were apart for a while. And he’s absolutely right because we haven’t worked that out. The both of us were developing feelings for each other but we didn’t get the chance to talk about them because MC fucked up.

And is it just me or does he usually not do the whole “looking around at the other boys and muttering ‘I’m sorry, lads’”? It feels like he’s a bit hesitant here, afraid to give MC another chance but at the same time he can’t fight his own feelings 🥺🥺

[The morning after] Despite having broken up with MC previously, he still feels safe by her side and he still thinks she’s the one he can feel most himself with and that actually makes sense! Because there were feelings involved that never went away. But because he didn’t want to be vulnerable he tried to push them away and shut MC out. Though, it never really worked in the first place, did it? 🥹

I think it’s important for him to see that MC really means it when she says she’s sorry for hurting him. He wants to not only hear that she wants him, he wants to see it too. He wants to see her put in the effort and I reckon that’s why he does forgive us. But I can guarantee it’ll be the last chance because Lucas doesn’t usually give second chances!

Plant growth suggests quite a while, but these people seem to have no qualms navigating them at all! There’s still so much rubble everywhere that these can’t be frequented ruins, either.

If Okhema is the only human city left, what’s stopping them from making another one? Why has the way there not already been fucked up, and why is it only happening now?

Wow, that was a lot of people and information to introduce in one go! Could’ve been better but at least we know enough stuff to jump off from. And then a load of nothing. It’s been like three hours I’m so BORED

They went from HIGH OCTANE ACTION to “sit in a bath and also look around the city” that’s like slamming on the breaks way too hard in a single story update IMO!!! Also I do have ADHD.
