Coming from TikTok?

I'm going to make a companion video going over Tumblr. But once upon a time, I actually had to do a video seminar about Tumblr's viability as a blogging platform. So even though I'm basically a nobody on this platform - I can talk about the differences between platforms.

What is Tumblr?

Tumblr is a blogging social network. Think of a Twitter feed, only instead of videos, photos and short tweets - you have blog posts in addition to all of that. So you can get a wide variety of content. From artwork, fanfic, humor to discussions of serious social issues.

It's whatever you make it.

How do you use it?

Tumblr can be pretty much whatever you want. Some people post random stuff, some people are focused on one topic, some people are dedicated to aesthetics. You have a main blog, but you can create any number of sideblogs.

You have a dashboard which shows all the blogs that you follow, there's a search that lets you search tags/content - though it can, depending on what platform you're on, block more adult content.

Why does everyone say I shouldn't just like posts?

So here's the thing. Tumblr has a bot problem. Specifically bots of the adult entertainment kind. So a lot of seasoned users will see a completely blank blog with zero design changes and a default userpic and assume they're a bot and block them.

I recommend making a short bio, changing the colors of your blog, making a pfp (cartoons, nature, picrewme - all of those are great. Real faces that aren't from pop culture are pretty rare). And if you don't feel like reblogging stuff yet, just make a short "I'm a real person" post.

Also: if you reblog posts, you can tag them and search that. There's no way to search likes. So it could take you forever to find something.

Like or reblog?

Most people suggest reblogging content rather than just liking it. It helps push it to a wider audience, especially for artists.

Neat features about reblogging - you can actually queue posts. That throws it into a post-later queue. In your settings, you can change how often that queue posts. A lot of people will throw things in there to avoid spamming followers. It also makes it look like you're always on, too. (Bonus if you ever talk about your real life)

Scheduling - you can schedule posts! Find something you think would be great for a holiday? You can schedule the date and time.

Reblog, never repost. Think about how even if you repost a video on TikTok, it has the watermark of that original user? Reblogging keeps their username on it - and makes sure they get credit.

There are a lot of creators over here, and people don't like seeing other people get ripped off. So reblog.

Turn off your submissions

A little known feature are submissions - where people can send you things to post. If you want to keep it on, turn it off for video or pictures. (I got several dick pics)

Tag things!

Tumblr uses a pretty great tag system. People use them to organize and to help people block content. You can mute tags, so say you don't want to see Current Popular Show spoilers, if you mute the show name and spoilers that should usually catch it - that's the way most people tag it.

ALSO - because people will mute keywords or tags, do not censor things. It'll make it so their tags won't work. So most people will tag appropriately ex: "eating disorders" and at the top of their post say TW: eating disorders (or use appropriate acronyms up there)

Handy things

If you use a computer, xkit is a browser plugin that lets you add extra features. It's community made, but there are extensions like "postblock" or quick tags or auto tagger, one-click postage.

Ads

Because of the wide variety of content, the ads on Tumblr are pretty weird. Entertaining, but weird.

Monetization

There is no creator fund type thing. Sorry. You can't even really put ads on your Tumblr blog. (If you can setup an ads.txt file, cool - but it doesn't always register the way it should)

Most Tumblrites who want to monetize will put up a link to Ko-fi or a link to their Patreon.

I’m censoring the specific usernames here because this post isn’t meant to “call out” anyone in particular, but this mindset is pervasive enough that I need to talk about it. the dream smp fandom has got to understand that tumblr is a public platform and that other people should not be expected to tailor their content for you. it is common courtesy to tag for things that can be triggering or upsetting and it is common courtesy to keep outright hate out of a main character tag. “hate” is a subjective term, but the way I’d define it is mindlessly bashing a content creator or character for the sake of itself. (meaning flat out insulting a character is not on the same level as character analysis that finds that something this character has done was morally wrong, or something like that).

people who aren’t interested in the plot of the series? share spaces with people who Are interested in the plot. it is completely unreasonable to say that someone who inhabits a part of the fandom that you don’t shouldn’t Be Allowed to be seen in the public tags. there is no reason why meta analysis has to be squirreled away. this is a public blogging platform and tags are used to spread posts to other people. telling someone that they shouldn’t be allowed to put their analysis in the main tags is telling someone that what they create shouldn’t be Seen by other people.

the tags exist for everyone in the fandom, that’s what the concept of tags is For. public tags are meant to represent the wide array of everything that belongs to a specific fandom, topic, or interest, while your dashboard is curated by you to suit your personal tastes. people in public tags are not beholden to your personal taste to be allowed to exist, and it’s your job to make sure the content that people post to your dash suits your own taste.

if content isn’t triggering, disrespectful to the creators, or nsfw there is no reason why it shouldn’t be allowed to be in the main tags. there is no reason why the tags should be tailored to the taste to one subset of fans in particular and not any other. it’s reasonable to ask people to tag critical posts if they’re going to put them in main character tags (simply for the fact that some people find them upsetting), it is not reasonable to say that they Can’t Exist in main character tags at all. everyone has to look at posts that they aren’t particularly interested in sometimes, and they scroll past them without saying anything because that is the reasonable thing to do.

none of this is even touching on the people who intentionally spam character critical posts to try to silence people who criticize characters they like, though that’s mainly because I don’t think that’s specifically applicable to the responses that pushed me to finally make this post. but I See that it’s happening and this weird expectation being placed on people who write character meta to bow to people who’re uninterested absolutely facilitates that kind of behavior.

How do you get people to always buy your dragons? Genuine question

i was gonna say something like “haha i have no fucking clue” but that would be a lie i think about this a lot actually so i might have some insights i’ve been breeding dragons as my primary activity on FR since i started playing FR (in 2014...) and people have only started actually buying dragons from me consistently like, 5-6 months ago, despite 2-3 attempts at running a genuine hatchery onsite that always died due to lack of interest & not really being worth the effort. 

so ive thought a lot about what the hell is happening now and why my dragons are suddenly consistently selling and I think ive come down to these being the main points of advice i can give: 1. make friends! be friendly! don’t be weird! be a cool and fun person to interact with! 2. post consistently. post your dragons consistently. post about other stuff consistently. just be an active member of the community 3. POST YOUR SHIT IN THE “#FLIGHT RISING” TAG. THIS IS PROBABLY THE ONLY TRUELY HELPFUL THING I SAY IN THIS POST 4. make pairs that are sexy as hell and be openly proud of them. make dragons and pairs that you like, not what you think will necessarily sell. people can tell when you like stuff and being genuinely passionate about something, whatever the fuck it is, will get other people passionate as well longer versions/explanations under the cut because man this got a mile long. i wasn’t kidding when i said i think about this a lot and i am so sorry if you wanted something concise and useful

2. being consistent! just. posting consistently! posting Every Hatchling I Have and Talking About Them On Tumblr!  Once I had a couple nests just sell super fast likely due to aforementioned clout, i was emboldened to just post more of my nests more often and I swear this has more effect than anything else. i just needed the self-esteem boost to Start Doing That posting consistently makes ppl follow u for ur content which gets even more people to look at your dragons which gets more people to buy your dragons.

2a. Also just post a lot in general, even if you aren’t necessarily posting about your dragons for sale. it definitely helps! just be friendly and active and people will come

3. post your shit in the tag. not in “#dragon-sales” or “#fr-dragon-sales” or anything weird like that because I don’t know if anyone actually looks at those, but people definitely browse “#flight rising”. no matter how many followers you have, more people will see your content if you post it in #flight rising than if you just chuck it into the void.

3a. however! do not put links into the post if you want it to actually show up in the tag. tumblr is cool in that it doesn’t actually matter that much when you post something, the same way it really matters on twitter bc twitter has algorithms that decide for you what it thinks you want to be seeing whereas tumblr just shows you everything in chronological order. if you post something into the tag at 1am... it will still be there at 2pm when people log on and start scrolling.

the only thing tumblr seems to consistently hide from a tag (and possibly a dashboard, but idk) are posts with links in them, as a half-assed attempt to limit spam. instead of linking to your sales tab/to the dragons directly in the post, reblog it with the links instead. to reduce latency between a post going up and the links being available, i type out the links in the initial post, cut them, post the thing into the tag, then very quickly reblog, paste the links, and post the reblog jdhfsdf. i don’t know if that benefits anything really? but it can sometimes take me a while to type links, so if i posted, pressed reblog, typed up all the links, then posted, it’d be like ~15 minutes where someone may see the post, think “oh i would like to buy those dragons”, then can’t find the link, think “oh well, i will just find it later”, scroll on, and just... completely forget about it. so uh. go quick?

3b. the armchair sociologist in me also thinks self-reblogging has the added benefit of like... you know how people are more likely to tip a barista when a dollar is already in the tip jar? or how people are more likely to take one of those little tabs on a flyer if one of them is already missing? i think that works with notes, too. i don’t know why i think that or why it happens i just swear once a post gets 1 note, suddenly it gets Even More Notes, and if it doesn’t get any notes for a while it will sit at 0 notes until the end of time. so giving yourself 1 obligatory note makes people more likely to interact. i think

4. all of these are hard to quantify but this one is especially so: have cool and unique dragons. make your pairs sexy as hell. don’t put all your eggs (hah) into the one basket of selling dragons that are technically “popular”. we have all seen triple white/triple obsidian/triple orca/triple any other popular colors and cherub/pere/stained or wasp/bee/glim pthahlos or whatever. they’re pretty! we get it! but everyone has had one and everyone has had those pairs and market for dragons like that can be super oversaturated. try to break free from that and sell dragons that people can only get from you. I can’t tell you what to do though bc that rly depends on you. make pairs that you find exciting or interesting and people will feel that. i have a very specific theme and aesthetic that i don’t feel like is especially common on FR and i am genuinely very enthusiastic about it. marine shit is my Thing:tm: both on and off FR and dragons are one of my many ways of expressing that   if you have a Thing:tm:, either some fr-centric aesthetic (like being super into plague or earth or light or something) or something more general (such as any of the -punks or -cores)... just fuckin roll with it honestly. if you’re goth? make got h dragons. like scene stuff that looks straight out of a middle school in 2010? rock that hot-topic lair. outdoorsey type? make dragons that look like you’d meet them on a hike in the woods. it really works with anything!  people can tell when you really love something and i know that seeing someone really love something, even if it’s not necessarily MY thing, makes me really excited too!!

4a. never show fear. people can smell fear. never be like “well this one isn’t that good” because suddenly now you’ve planted the idea that it’s ugly in other people’s heads when they may have really liked it had you not accidentally suggested to them that it’s an ugly dragon. people are EXTREMELY suggestible to even VERY minor cues so be always a little bit bolder than you think you should be you’d be surprised at how many times ive been like “eh, this one’s kind of a dud, i’ll probably have to exalt this one when the auction expires” and then that hatchling is the first to sell. never ever ever ever decide what other people like for them. always act like your dragons are the hottest shit in all the land and Believe It. this is what people mean when they say “fake it till you make it”

- 4b. also, idk if it’s true of everyone but it’s really off-putting to see someone having serious pity-parties for themselves, on sales posts or otherwise. ive had bad experiences with people who are uncomfortably quick to self-depreciate (because they were using their genuine self-hatred to manipulate me or my friends), so i might be a little more trigger-happy about avoiding this behavior than others, but don’t weaponize your sadness to guilt people into doing what you want. it’s really not cool.

i don’t post about all the times i have to exalt dragons that don’t sell. you are seeing me being very selective about what i post. you dont sit and stare at my lair or click through offspring lists or check old sales posts. there are a lot of times where someone just doesn’t sell. even now when i’m selling stuff pretty consistently i will still sometimes have dragons that don’t sell for seemingly no reason. even dragons I think are sure to sell will sometimes just... not. and that’s ok! you gotta just be.. ok with that. it’s par for the course. i typically list dragons for 7 days on the AH, give them a couple more days after their auction expires (partially because i forget, partially to give them a grace period for people to pm/ask me about them), and then exalt them after that point. w/ some dragons that i don’t think got a fair shake for one reason or another (such as the sales post not showing up in the tag or something) i do a little clearance (like the halloween dragons i recently posted) but for the most part if they don’t sell, i just exalt them. 90% of the time i don’t even bother to level them up i just press the exalt button and call it a day. it’s fine

I'm sorry to ask, but what is going on? I saw the discourse but I really can't put things together / I don't understand what is going on. Im sorry about the people who are being a-holes to you.

It's a long story. I'll try to be concise but include details.

It started with some anti megastar anti Starscream people spamming a post I made about liking both MegaStar and StarOp (genuinely I don't really have any attachment to shipping I just pair everyone with Starscream I don't care). Like they copied my post and spammed it through multiple fandom tags and kept making new user names and at one point tried to pretend it was me.

They called me a cracker in one of the many anonymous messages they sent me. I was updating people with names to block and mentioned the person might not be white due to the weird racial insult, and I only had one suspect who had been harassing people in a semi-similar fashion and they happened to be a POC but that was my only suspicion (hadn't named them yet or claimed it was any specific ethnicity).

Then I was spammed with the N-word repeatedly and accused of targeting POC, then told I was racist. Then they strangely started saying I was targeting black people and when I revealed my only suspect happened to indeed be a black person, but I hadn't mentioned any race other than "not white", they claimed I sent people after this suspect (my following is not big and I think this harasser is working under the assumption I'm somd BNF and I'm really not??) and they accused me of trying to attack a completely innocent user. I then posted proof that my suspect is not innocent of every doing anything wrong and had proof of him harassing users before all this.

Then they noticed that a certain user they believe is a TERF commented on something or reblogged something, or I reblogged something from them? So they accused me of being TERF as well as racist. I just wanted proof of the user in question being a TERF because I don't support that shit and they couldn't give me an answer so their claims were discredited and unsupported.

Today (yesterday now) I saw a post come up from a user on the supposed opposite side of things that said MegaStar shippers were going after them. I tried to empathize and commented about the stuff that had happened to me and they had a very abrupt ANTI MEGASTAR reaction and told me not to interact, which is really fucking sus.

Looking into their page and the new discourse going around, it looks to me that someone is harassing people with MegaStar art in an attempt to make MegaStar stans look bad? Honestly I couldn't care less-it's shitty discourse, let people ship who they want, don't like don't read etc. But I made a post saying how weird it was.

Suddenly ANON is back with their random rage-boner accusations. They switched from fandom discourse to the TERF thing AGAIN and I lost it.

I just had a breakdown and vented it all out and they tried to invalidate what I'm going through by saying I was gaslighting by "making it about me"... The one being harassed and slandered... I just wanted proof of this person I follow being a TERF because some random anonymous person shouldn't be able to dictate who you follow without evidence? I told them I hadn't found any evidence myself and the rage-boner anon eventually randomly name-dropped my earlier suspect and again, with no evidence, said I had them harassed when I've done no such thing but point out their potential as a suspect and screenshots to back up my claim and this anon can do nothing to support theirs.

TLDR

At the end of the day there is someone/some people, I believe, parading as MegaStar shippers harassing a bunch of people into hating the ship even more to give themselves leverage to say "look how bad it is they are harassing us" over posts no real fan of a pairing would actually do so. I really don't care that much about the ship itself but rather the principal of let people ship who they want and don't bother other people over it, don't like it don't read or block the creators if you think it's offensive or problematic. I don't support TERFS and will gladly unfollow and block anyone I find to be one, but I'm not going to jump on every claim of TERFS unless there is proof (just link me to a post and I'll read it myself). I am anti-racist and have lost my job in standing up to a racist co worker in the middle of 2020 and still am trying to recover. I'm very much over the drama over this petty "shipping wars" bullshit but it keeps popping up.

I can't even try to empathize with someone without tripping a landmine from an anti.

THE START

there's many days where the kamski family would have a bit of struggles, as elijah grew up. he never knew much about his father, seeing as his father passed when he was a very young boy — no more than six. he'd never grown to know too much about him, and his mother didn't overly want to share about him, so it was safe to say the woman had a reason for not telling elijah and that was that.

growing up with a single mother who had severe epilepsy, elijah tried his very hardest to make his mother's life as easy as possible. school days would be very short considering he'd go straight home from school in order to watch after his mother. some days with his mother, depending on the medication the doctors had recommended her, would be better than others. she always appreciated her son's committment to being with her and he was determined to make life easy on the two of them. using the money she got from the state, she'd try to urge her son go into extra cirricular activiies he wanted to do, however he only dismissed the ideas, claiming that he'd rather be home. he'd use the money to spend on textbooks, wanting to develop his own version of a Vagus nerve stimulation device. one that would make sure to surge with electrical pulses before his mother even remotely had to move herself to activate the device. computer engineering was his goal, and he'd stop at nothing to get through that.

as life continued on, elijah continued to shove his head into books and continuously study. he pushed through high school faster than anyone had expected, at age ELEVEN he had shown his studies to multipile colleges, showing his theories on how to better create medical devices.

THE CHANGE

the university of colbridge had been a struggle for elijah, being the youngest student there. studying medical engineering was easy, and he had decided to double major in computer engineering as well, to perhaps attempt to integrate the two. though school was difficult, the hardest part was being away from his mother. the school had refused to let him travel back and forth, saying that freshmen had to stay on campus as apart of regulations and requirements from the state. when he started college, his mother had decidded upon asking the state for a caregiver- on the off chance that something did happen. with the VNS that was already implanted in her, she was able to have a job during the day, but the caretaker was supposed to just oversee her during the nights. it settled eli's anxiety about his mother a little bit. four months into his freshman year, eli had woken up to a call from the san antonio police, letting him know that his mother had been rushed to the hospital after having a grand mal seizure and hitting her head on their marble counters. apparently the caretaker assigned to look after his mother hadn't even shown up that night. he quickly rushed home, terrified what had happened.

something, however that night had turned elijah into a bitter person. into someone against humanity. though his mother had survived the seizure, things weren't the same for either of them. after knowing his mother's caretaker had ABANDONED her, elijah had fully decided to go more into engineering to create a way for humans to be more reliable. what was more reliable than humanity? MACHINES. something that would always obey. obedient machines that had a purpose and a task and would see it through. dropping fully out of medical engineering, elijah settled for computer science and engeineering instead. the utter drive to create a better human than humans themselves was so strong that by the age sixteen, elijah had worked together with a team of classmates to create the first medical assistant androids. REVOLUTIONARY KICKSTARTER model 100, or RK for short. RK100 was born and tested on his mother, who seeemed quite uneasy, but only wanted to support her son.

ENTER CYBERLIFE

though it wasn't perfect, the ark series took off. mainly piquing interest in san diego, california. the backbones of the mega-billion dollar company that would be founded by elijah kamski and his cohorts suddenly had at least three hundred backers trying to support the small business after seeing what a success the RK100 was at being not only a companion for his mother, but also how helpful the RK was at it's job. the medical caretakers were able to do so much, and suddenly with the money that was being thrown at the group, elijah became more than enthused with power. hungry for it, almost.

making more medical related androids were being highly requested, and the team set out to create diffrent functions for androids, trying to perfect everything.

taking into consideration his mother — his finest mentor and most trusted support, and what she thought of the androids, he sought out to consult with his old AI professor, Amanda Stern, on how to make the androids a bit more lifelike. It was hard, at least for what his mother admitted, for a human to trust a machine that looked like a machine to help themselves out through life. upon her advice, eli threw himself into work, the team of cyberlife growing into a business, and then a wide scale company alongside elijah's work. no matter what, the man was the front of the company, having done the majority of the coding and research in what brought the androids to life. the company sought after targeting the cheapest land developments in the united states in order to make their headquarters and warehouses, bringing CYBERLIFE to DETROIT, MICHIGAN where it currently resides.

it takes kamski four years after founding cyberlife to come out with a brand new appearance for his androids. something human like after struggling and struggling to engineer the perfect components to theorize biological functions. this equiptment created became biocompotenents, but it still wasn't enough to make thes he was creating look HUMAN. but after all the struggles and finally figuring out a way to regulate something akin to blood into the android's system, elijah kamski in the year 2022 releases the RT REVOLUTIONARY TURING model; a personal assistant to elijah kamski that uses the alias ' CHLOE '. Cyberlife has been thurst into the spotlight and once again Elijah Kamski realizes that these advancements in the world have honestly made people envious. the public demands the rights to these androids and while he still is bitter over humanity and the lack of reliabilty that humans provide for the world, he obliges. Cyberlife goes public with their androids and the public are now able to put a price tag on androids.

THE REVOLUTION

the world that assumes elijah kamski is nothing but a greedy, power-hungry boss of a CEO for cyberlife overlooks one important fact: he still wants revenge on the world. his mother passes on at the age 43, a few years before his greatest mentor amanda stern passes. the loss of both role models awakens a vengeful force in elijah kamski. one that wants to remind the world that mortality is relevant for all. cyberlife has created over thousands of models, all for different functions and he looks upon his kingdom with hopeful eyes as well as bitterness. humanity has become less reliant. they've become lazier. androids have become the working force, for the most part, and while elijah sees that as a positive note because it is moving forward away from the laziness and unreliability of humanity — the CEO is fully aware that his androids are becoming more and more human like the more and more they develop. the deviant base code is never once touched. always overlooked by cyberlife developers who dare not touch the work of the first working android made by elijah kamski himself. while he's aware he, himself, is mortal just like the rest of humanity, seeing his creations become sentient, to rise up against the laziness and unreliable humanity that he lives among has been his goal. he just awaits the REVOLUTIONARY KICKSTARTER 200 to actually get pushed to the brink of going through his code.

now it's just a game of waiting to see who pushes who, and who comes up on top. it's always a delight to play god.

Okay so I tried this thing

Which is for HideMe VPN. I cracked up, HideMe is The Worst VPN ever, this person must WANT us to find them.

So HideMe is specific to Korea, I know that much. And it offers five countries to hide your IP: the USA, the UK, Netherlands, Romania and Japan.

Coming to the next part of my plan: the SS blog has a pageview counter! So we can see who’s logged on and when. I’m going to monitor the pageview counter and see if there are any visitors from the HideMe countries. There are actual legit visitors from these countries I know, but I'm going to see if any of them correspond to the hate comments. I’ll update with progress as I go!

It’s been a couple of hours and a lot of you have messaged me wanting to help, so thank you, guys! So far we have 130 hits from Japan (lol good luck with that), 30 or so from the USA, and 12 from the UK. I’m trying to see if I can message S and ask if anyone has sent anything recently.

Since this is a stalker anon I’m guessing they’ll be obsessively checking S’s blog, and since they’re from Korea obviously and S is also from Korea, they’ll most probably be checking from about 9am to 12am KST (UTC +9), because that’s when S is online. Sorry, my psych major is showing, hehe. I’ll try this and then update.

Okay! Update, finally. I’ve narrowed it down to three IP addresses that have been the most frequent visitors from the mentioned countries. A little bit of hacking (shhh, I learnt it in my White-Hat course, I’m a licensed ethical hacker FYI) and I’ve confirmed that one of the three users is from Seoul! It has to be them, otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to stalk S irl - she lives in Seoul. Thank you guys for all your help! I couldn’t have done it without you!

On S’s request, I’ve investigated the stalker’s profile and identity. StrawberryStalker is 19-year-old Lee Da-eun from Seoul, and on top of harassing S, she’s had three warnings for public misconduct and another two for underage drinking. She’s a sasaeng fan of EXO’s and has been seen at several of their showcases with “hate” signs. She stalked EXO’s Sehun for a month when she was sixteen and spied on their dorms with a camera, which she was given disciplinary action for. You might have also seen k-articles about her leaking the dorm photos on her twitter.

“Jia, it’s blood, oh my god, I just threw up blood, what do I do?”

“Okay, calm down! Do you have any other symptoms?”

“I feel really lightheaded, and...and…It’s hard to breathe...”

“Oh god. Y/N, hold on, I’m calling an ambulance.”

“No! I’m fine!”

“You are not fine, you’re throwing up blood!”

“I…”

“Y/N? Are you there?”

“Y/N?”

“Hang on, Y/N, the ambulance is on its way-”

You opened your eyes and immediately shut them. The light was too blinding. Groaning, you braced yourself and tried again.

The first thing you noticed was the cannula in your peripheral vision. Then, the steady beeping of something in the background. A pinch in the crook of your left elbow, which was held straight by a strap at your wrist.

“She’s awake.” You tried to lift your head to find the source of the voice, but the movement was too hard. “Her face looks fine. Blood is clean. Blood pressure slightly below normal, but within the limits, so she should be fine. You don’t need to worry.”

“Oh, thank god.” That was Jia. “Can I go in?”

Something else was murmured, and then you heard two pairs of footsteps walk in and stop by your bed. An unfamiliar face leaned over you and pulled down your eyelids to examine your eyes.

“Jia?” You croaked after the doctor had leaned away.

You felt her hand slip into yours. “Y/N. Hey. You’re okay now.”

“What happened?” Your throat felt ripped open and dry. You coughed. “Can I have some water?”

The doctor muttered something to Jia, then walked away. Her fingers rubbed soothing circles into your palm. “Cyanide poisoning, Y/N. You were extremely lucky you survived.”

Your world stopped. “Poisoning? Cyanide?”

“Yes. Someone messed with your food at the fanmeet.”

You couldn’t wrap your head around it. “...Fanmeet.”

“Yesterday. You’ve been in the hospital for a day and a half. You were in a coma by the time they got to you. It was still soon enough that they could find out it was cyanide poisoning. If they hadn’t got to you in time, you would have died.”

“Died?”

“Mhmm. They couldn’t find out initially because I told them you had been throwing up blood. Turns out the blood and the stomachache were because you also swallowed glass powder in your food.”

Your blood ran cold; you felt dizzy. “It was the stalker?”

Jia shifted closer. “Lee Da-eun, right? She was at the fanmeet. It was her. I’m sorry, Y/N.” She sighed. “In a way, she also saved your life. If she hadn’t put in the glass powder, you wouldn’t have noticed something was wrong in time.”

You groaned again. “Jia, that’s not a good thing.”

“I know! I didn’t say it was. Hey, are you sure you want to-” She winced as you shifted, moving stiffly, avoiding the IV sticking out of your arm.

With great effort, you sat up, leaning on your pillow. “I’m okay.” Then you looked to your right and froze. Slumped in a hospital chair, fast asleep, was Chanyeol, his hoodie pulled up over his bright red hair and his gangly limbs hanging off the seat. “What’s...what’s he doing here?”

Jia gave you a soft smile. “He came to see you,” she said. “He’s been here all night.” You glanced at the clock - it was three in the early morning. Despite your fight, despite his busy life, had he really come here to see you?

“Tell me I’m dreaming.” At that, Chanyeol stirred. You watched as he blinked his eyes open and nearly fell out of his chair, scrambling back up at the last second.

He met your eyes. “You’re awake.” His voice, deep and raspy from sleep, gave you an involuntary shiver. He looked at Jia. “She’s awake.”

Jia smiled knowingly. “I’ll leave you alone.” She stepped out quietly, shutting the door behind her. Now it was just you, Chanyeol, and an awkward silence.

You cleared your throat and started to speak at the same time as he did.

“Thank you-”

“I’m sorry-”

You both burst into laughter, him into a nervous chuckle, you into a tiny giggle that ended with a cough. “You first,” he said, eyes gentle, smile gentler, as he looked at you.

You blushed. “Thank you for coming to see me. It means a lot. I know we weren’t in a good spot, and you’re busy, but you still came. So thank you.”

“I would have come even if I was halfway around the world. I mean it.” He meant it. “I’m sorry I was rude to you earlier.”

You snorted. “You? Rude? Yeah, and I’m part of EXO.”

Chanyeol grinned, eyes twinkling. “So I’m forgiven?”

“There’s nothing to forgive.” You smiled back.

A moment passed. “So, are you going to tell me that important thing?”

Again, you felt heat rush to your face. “I, uh. I was thinking a lot. And…”

“And…?”

“Ilikeyouback,” you said quickly, the words slurring. “As in. I like you, the same way you like me.”

You hadn’t seen anything more wonderful than the happiness that dawned on his face like the sun. His grin grew impossibly wider, his eyes turning into little half-moons. “You do?”

“I do.” You bit your lip.

“Well, now I really hate myself for not listening to you earlier.”

You laughed, patting the side of the bed. “Come here.” He obliged, moving his chair closer until he was at the edge. You held out your hand, and he took it.

“I think we should start over,” you said slowly, and he nodded. “Hi, I’m Y/N, and I’m your biggest fan.”

“Hi, Y/N. I’m Chanyeol. What a coincidence, I’m your biggest fan too.”

I really hate to announce this, but in the light of what’s happened, I have to. I will be leaving tumblr to focus on real life and making SS better. However, I’ll still be posting on WEBTOON. After today, this blog will be deactivated. 

To answer the hundreds of questions piled up in my inbox, here’s a small FAQ: 

What happened? Long story short, I was poisoned by the EXO sasaeng who’d been stalking me and C for the past month. She’s in jail now. I’m not in any more danger from her.

Am I okay? Yes! If it weren’t for some incredible doctors, I would be dead right now. I was in the hospital for a few days, but now I’m much better and I’m back at home, ready to crank out the next few chapters of SS!
