i know nanami’s only 27, but i can’t help but think that he’s probably got a lot of “old man” traits that he’s acquired one way or another. maybe life made him that way, maybe he chose to act like he is in his 40s and not late 20s, but either way, having him around would be a very interesting experience to say the least because i’m pretty sure he…

he complains like a seasoned retiree. he’s got that heavy sigh, rubs his temple routine down to an art. the kind of man who mutters, “i’m too old for this,” when he’s only been awake for ten minutes. if you suggest staying out late, he just looks at you like you suggested committing a crime.

he has a very specific way of doing things. nanami doesn’t just go grocery shopping—he has a route. he knows which brands he likes, which cashier is the fastest, and he refuses to go on weekends because “that’s when the amateurs show up.” he folds his laundry a certain way, and god help you if you disrupt his system.

his idea of “treating himself” is so dad-coded. nanami doesn’t do impulse buys—when he does spend money on himself, it’s always something practical. “i finally got those orthopedic insoles” or “this is a quality briefcase; it’ll last a lifetime.” and he probably has one (1) expensive pen that he never lets anyone borrow.

he dresses like he’s ready to scold someone for stepping on his lawn. pressed slacks, polished shoes, dress shirts with the sleeves neatly rolled up. casual wear? good luck catching him in it. even his loungewear is suspiciously put-together—like, who wears an actual button-up pajama set in 2025? nanami kento, that’s who.

he drives like a dad. he never speeds, always uses his turn signal, and complains about “reckless drivers” while driving exactly the speed limit. the kind of man who refuses to start the car until everyone has their seatbelt on.

oh, and dating nanami as someone younger than him would be an experience. he already acts like he’s in his 40s, so the age gap (however small) feels so much bigger because he refuses to let loose. but deep down, he wants to—he just doesn’t know how. so to be in a relationship with him is to get used to stuff like this;

he sighs like he’s raising a teenager. if you stay up too late? heavy sigh. if you forget to bring a jacket? exasperated sigh while taking off his coat to drape over your shoulders. if you tell him about a reckless decision you made? pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs like you just told him you totaled his car. but beneath all that dramatic suffering, there’s genuine care. you might get an “honestly, do you have no sense of self-preservation?” but it’s followed by him adjusting your scarf, making sure your shoelaces are tied, and keeping a steady hand on your back when crossing the street.

he pretends to be annoyed by your energy, but secretly loves it. he acts like your enthusiasm exhausts him, but if you ever stopped being excited around him? he’d miss it desperately. when you drag him to try something new, he’ll complain the whole time (“this is a waste of money”), but afterward, he’ll admit—very quietly—that it wasn’t that bad. he likes how you remind him to enjoy life in ways he never lets himself. he’ll never jump in recklessly, but if you say, “just trust me,” he’ll hesitate… then sigh… then go along with whatever nonsense you’re up to, even if he acts like he’s suffering the entire time.

he acts like a responsible adult, but enables your habits in secret. “you shouldn’t be drinking so much caffeine.” and yet, the next morning, there’s an extra coffee waiting for you. “wasting money on little things adds up.” but somehow, that limited-edition item you wanted just magically appears on your desk. he talks a big game about being responsible, but when it comes to you? he has no self-control.

he takes care of you like an old-fashioned gentleman. he opens doors, walks on the outer side of the sidewalk, and insists on carrying heavy things for you. not because he thinks you can’t—just because he wants to. he likes taking care of you, even if he pretends it’s just out of obligation. if you try to carry something heavy, he just looks at you. doesn’t even say anything. just crosses his arms and waits for you to give up and hand it to him. if you call him a gentleman, he’ll scoff, “that’s just basic decency.” but if you really gush about it, you might catch the tips of his ears turning pink.

he thinks trendy slang is ridiculous. you use modern slang just to see his reaction, and it never fails to make him sigh like he just aged ten years on the spot.

“nanami, be so for real.”

“…so for real what?”

“you should just trust the process.”

“i’d rather not.”

if you ever jokingly call him “king” or “bestie” he’ll give you the look. he pretends he doesn’t care, but if you say something really out of pocket, you might actually get him to break character and let out a very exhausted, “what does that even mean?” (you’re keeping track of all the slang that makes him react the most so you can use it strategically. it’s your favorite game.)

he secretly likes when you cling to him. nanami acts like he’s too mature for overly affectionate behavior, but the first time you loop your arm through his or rest your head against his shoulder in public, he freezes. clears his throat. tries to pretend he doesn’t care—but his hand naturally comes to rest over yours, holding you there like it’s second nature. if you ever hug him from behind or whine “but i missed you,” he won’t admit how fast his heart is beating, but he will sigh and say, “i was gone for twenty minutes.” doesn’t matter. he still lets you cling to him as long as you want.

he plans the most responsible dates, but lets you drag him into chaos. nanami’s idea of a date? a nice dinner, a quiet café, maybe a bookstore. nothing loud, nothing unpredictable. your idea of a date? “let’s go to an arcade.” “let’s take a random train and see where we end up.” “let’s sneak into a rooftop at night.” he knows he should say no. but when you look at him like that? sigh. fine. but if you get into trouble, “i had no part in this.” (he’s definitely bailing you out of trouble five minutes later.)

he absolutely dads you when you get hurt. if you get a tiny scrape? nanami reacts like an overprotective father. “what happened?” “let me see.” “you need to be more careful.” and you’re like, “it’s a paper cut.” but he’s already pulling out a bandaid (which he definitely carries with him, because of course he does). if you ever get seriously hurt? he’s scolding you while carefully patching you up. “you’re too reckless.” “next time, call me.” but his hands are so gentle, and he won’t leave your side until he’s sure you’re okay.

he adores when you fall asleep on him. you knock out on his shoulder? he won’t move. his arm is numb, but he doesn’t dare wake you. if you fall asleep on his lap? his hand naturally comes up to run through your hair. if you curl up in bed and mumble “stay with me,” he’ll sigh, say something about how he has work in the morning… and then stay anyway. and if you ever catch him staring when you wake up? he’ll immediately look away. “you were drooling,” he lies. (he was watching you like you hung the stars.)

he acts like he’s too old for all this, but deep down? nanami loves you more than anything. and if loving you takes years off his life? so be it.

The entire UConn women's basketball team planned a movie night at Paige's place to relax and reduce the pressure they were under after the start of the 2024-2025 basketball season. Fans were already expecting a lot from them, knowing UConn is considered the basketball capital of the world. One by one, the teammates arrived at the apartment, some bringing food, including pizza and a bag of chips.

"Yoo, come in!" Paige greeted everyone as they entered.

Once everyone was inside, the room filled with chatter and laughter. However, Paige looked confused, her eyes roaming around the place as if she were searching for something—or someone.

"If you're looking for Azzi, she’s not coming," Ice suddenly teased, a hint of mischief in her tone. Blondie's brow furrowed as she immediately focused on Ice.

"Hey! What do you mean she’s not coming?!" Paige exclaimed, annoyed by Ice’s declaration. Ice simply nodded in response.

"She said she’d come!" Paige insisted, just as someone walked in.

"Hey, what’s going on here? Paige, your voice could be heard down the hall!" the brunette said, raising her eyebrows. Everyone laughed even harder, except for Paige, who turned red with irritation and embarrassment at her girlfriend's arrival.

Paige shot Ice a death glare before turning to her girlfriend standing behind her. "Azzi!" her expression softened slightly as she met her girlfriend’s gaze. "They said you weren’t coming!"

"You’re so easy to fool," Azzi mocked with a smirk as she walked past Paige and settled on the couch between Kk and Ice, who were both grinning.

Paige followed her girlfriend with her eyes and turned even redder at the sight of Kk’s smug grin after they successfully teased her.

"I’m not!" Paige defended in a low tone. "That’s why I protested when Ice said you weren’t coming."

Everyone laughed at how Paige always overreacted, and how her tough exterior on the court could easily crack when it came to her girlfriend.

"Still," Azzi shrugged as Kk and Ice wrapped their arms around her side, like koalas.

Paige let out an exasperated sigh. "H-hey, that’s my girlfriend! And you two! Move!" She pulled Azzi's wrist gently and wrapped her arms protectively around her, resting her head on Azzi’s shoulder as if someone were trying to steal her away.

"Oh my God, you are so dramatic," Azzi exclaimed, rolling her eyes playfully, though she hugged her girlfriend back. Everyone exchanged glances as they watched the scene unfold between the couple.

"I just missed you. Am I not allowed to miss my girlfriend?" Paige murmured against Azzi’s neck, half-joking, still not letting go of her.

"Well… of course you are allowed, but we just saw each other like two hours ago," Azzi replied.

"Still, I just miss us like this, you know? Since the season started, we barely have time for each other because of practice and upcoming games," Paige said, a hint of vulnerability in her voice.

Azzi let out a soft sigh, realizing her girlfriend had a point. "You have a point," she conceded, tightening her arms around Paige's waist.

As the girlfriends stood there, enveloped in their little bubble, they forgot about the world outside, free from pressure and media—just the two of them.

Suddenly, their teammates cleared their throats to interrupt the moment, and Aubrey chimed in, "Are you two just standing there or what?"

"Paige is such a baby," Sarah, the freshman, teased, laughing.

Paige raised her head from Azzi’s shoulder at the remarks from Sarah and Aubrey. She groaned dramatically and buried her face back in the crook of her girlfriend’s neck, while Azzi chuckled, her dimples showing.

"Shut up, you two!" Paige hissed, although she couldn’t deny that Sarah was right about how she was acting toward her girlfriend.

an: Howdy! Hope everyone’s 2025 is off to a good start. As promised, here is chapter 2. This fic can be read as a stand alone, but it would probably make more sense if you read chapter 1. Also I’d like to mention that the time frame is off in this whole fic but I’m gonna try and speed run through the seasons to match up to what it is where I am. Next week we’re building a blanket fort. And if you have any ideas, let me know. Men and minors dni.

Ch 3

It had been almost a week since you pitched the idea of the list to Vi. She had been taking it very seriously, adding at least one thing every day. She had also been quite protective of it, keeping it close whenever you wanted to see it, moving it away from your gaze, blatantly closing it when you walked in the same room as her. You reminded her that it had been your idea to begin with, and that in order to do all of the things she was writing down, you would eventually have to see it. She simply claimed she wanted to be done writing it before she shared it with you. Fair enough.

Her not sharing it wasn’t an issue, though, considering you supplied the first thing on that list. You remembered the giddy look in her eye when you told her to add it, the way she wrote it as the first thing on the list, the kiss she gave you on the cheek as thanks for the idea. And since it was about the only one you knew for a fact was there, you were determined to surprise her sooner rather than later with it. It was also nearing late fall, and the nights were growing colder. You would have to plan fast in order to make this an actually enjoyable experience and not just turn yourselves into human popsicles.

So, you kept an eye on the weather, thought of a nearby lake that would be a good spot, and planned all the logistics down to the T. And then, you waited.

You were sitting at the kitchen island when you heard the sound of a key unlocking the door to your apartment, announcing Vi was finally home.

“How was work?” you asked as you stood up and walked towards her.

“Oh, ya know…same as always,” she sighed, wrapping her arms around you and giving you a quick kiss.

“Well, I was wondering if you maybe, possibly wanted to accompany me this evening for a surprise?” You said it innocently enough, but Vi still gave you the most suspicious look in the history of suspicious looks.

“Did you get your hands on my notebook?” she asked accusingly, squinting her eyes and pulling away from your hug slightly.

“No, I did not. And this has nothing to do with that,” you lied, tilting your nose up in mock-indignation. She squinted her eyes even more at you.

“Right, okay,” she surveyed you, then dropped her suspicion. “Well, yes, I would love to join you. Where are we going?”

“I’m not telling you that, it’s a surprise!” You pushed her lightly on the shoulder, playfully annoyed.

“Okay, okay, fine. Just tell me what I need to do,” she surrendered.

“All you need to do is nothing. And then meet me in the car in ten minutes.” You gave her a kiss on the cheek, grabbed your bag and keys, and hurried your way down to the car.

You wanted to make sure nothing gave away the surprise, so you made sure any damning evidence was in the trunk, and then covered it all with a blanket. When you were satisfied, you plopped down into the driver's seat and waited for Vi, which didn’t take long considering you took a big chunk of that ten minutes finagling the trunk.

When Vi got into the passenger seat, the suspicious look was back on her face. You had your poker face on, however, and would not be giving anything away until you got to your destination.

You were half way into the drive, the sun setting slowly before you, when Vi decided to start grilling you on where you were going.

“Is it something off the list? At least tell me that!” she prodded. You figured there wasn’t any harm in telling her it was. It narrowed the options down, sure, but it would get her excited.

“Okay, yes, it is something off the list. But before you go accusing me, no, I did not go snooping. I remembered some of the things you wrote down and this is one of them. But just stop speculating, alright. It’s supposed to be a surprise.” You squeezed her hand, which was holding yours on her lap.

Your admission settled her speculation, and for the rest of the drive the two of you listened to music and chatted about your day. The conversation seemed to distract her, because when you pulled into the small, blessedly empty, dirt parking lot, indicating you had made it to your destination, her suspicion finally returned. She eyed you up, but you only gave her a smile as you got out of the car and popped the trunk.

Pulling the blanket aside, you grabbed the duffle bag with the towels in it and threw it over your shoulder. Vi finally came around to join you at the back of the car, but by that time you had already fixed the blanket back over everything and were closing the trunk. She eyed the duffle suspiciously, but when you beckoned her to follow you, she did.

You were a little surprised she hadn’t said anything yet. You had taken her to this lake a couple summers ago when everyone came out to celebrate Ekko’s birthday, but you would admit that it looked much different now that autumn was upon it.

You took Vi’s hand in yours as you walked down the short trail towards the lake. And once you rounded that corner and the shore opened up, Vi gasped, gave you a look that said, “oh my god, THIS is what we're doing?!?!” and kissed your cheek so hard you thought it might bruise.

The lake wasn’t big. You could probably swim from one side to the other in less than 5 minutes. But it got the job done. And it was empty, thank goodness. The last rays of light bounced off the water's surface, making it sparkle. And the thick forest surrounding it made for good privacy. It was all absolutely perfect.

You walked your vibrating-with-excitement girlfriend down towards the shore, plopping the duffle bag down next to a big oak that’s canopy arched over the water. And then you began to strip.

It wasn’t super cold out yet, but as you removed layers of clothing, goosebumps spread all across your skin. And you knew the water was guaranteed to be colder. Vi started stripping, too, only when she stopped ogling the fact you were taking your clothes off in front of her. You watched as she peeled her sweatshirt off, pulled her shoes and socks off faster than you’d seen anyone ever do that, took off the worn grey tee-shirt you sometimes slept in cause it smelled so much like her, and stepped out of the black cargo pants she had a million pairs of. She ogled, you ogled.

With both of you left in just your underwear, Vi closed the small space between the two of you and kissed you, hard, with tongue, bringing her warm hands up to caress your face. She pulled away just as fast, but it still left you both a little breathless. You don’t know exactly why you started giggling, but whatever it was, Vi was feeling a similar way, because she giggled right along with you.

“May I?” she asked, pulling lightly on the strap of your bra.

“Of course. May I?” you asked, pointing to her sports bra.

“Well, it's only fair,” she responded, a goofy smile tilting her lips.

She unclasped your bra, which was a hell of a lot easier than you attempting to pull her sports bra off, but you made it, now both topless. You leaned in, kissing her long and deep as you pulled the hem of her boxers down over her hips, getting her completely naked. She mirrored the act, and soon enough you were both completely naked, shivering slightly.

“Okay,” you grabbed her hand and faced the water, “on the count of three, we run in.” Out of the corner of your eye you could see her nodding, albeit reluctantly.

“One,” You took a step forward, “two,” you took another one, this time Vi taking it with you, “three!” and then you were running towards the water, Vi right next to you, laughing breathlessly.

“Holy fuck, its cold.” You were now chest deep in the water, the sandy bottom squishing between your toes. Vi was right next to you, grinning ear to ear, and even though it was fucking cold, you couldn’t help but grin right back at her. Sure, this had been your idea to begin with, but as soon as Vi had added it to her list, it had become one of her goals, one of her dreams. And you couldn’t help but feel over the moon about helping her bring it to life.

After a minute or two in the water, the cold wasn’t as noticeable, but it didn’t really matter considering Vi had started kissing you, again, and you had a hard time considering anything else when that happened. Her hands had come up to your face, pulling you deeper into it. You grabbed her waist, pulling her closer, wrapping your arms around her. One of her hands came down to your chest, cupping your breast, fingers gliding over your nipple. You moaned, the sound getting caught by Vi’s mouth. You needed to be closer, were going to die if you didn’t get closer. One of your hands skated all the way down her back and grabbed her ass, pulling her in, causing legs to tangle. It was her turn to moan, a sound you would kill people to hear again and again. Both of you were frantic to get flistfulls of the other. You were lost in it, nothing unusual, but you had to remember you were in a potentially public place. And that was not a kink you wanted to find out you had today.

So with unbelievable effort, you pulled away, the space between you being filled now with hot, panting breaths. “As much as I would love to fuck you in this lake, I’d like to remind you that we are in a semi-public space,” you said.

She sighed. “Alright. And it is pretty fucking cold, isn’t it?” You nodded in response. “And it's getting pretty dark. Better get back to the car,” she reasoned.

“Only if you want to, babe. This was your surprise, I want you to get everything you want out of it,” you countered. You didn’t want to cut her surprise short just because you were cold. If she wanted to stay longer, you would gaslight yourself into believing you couldn’t feel cold. Anything for her.

“Well, considering I’m naked in a lake, I’d consider this a success. And it is getting late, and I’m getting kinda hungry. I think it’s fair to say we can head back to the car now.”

You nodded in response, giving her an acknowledging smile. Hand-in-hand, you walked out of the water, only to be met with the chilly night air. You rushed over to the duffle bag, flung it open, and cocooned yourself in the first towel within reach. Teeth chattering, you watched Vi follow suit, albeit not as frantic.

“We should do this again,” you said between gritted teeth, “when it’s warmer, though.”

Vi chuckled, shaking her head. “I’m just glad you remembered to bring towels.”

“Oh, I brought a lot more than just towels,” you said, your attempt at cockiness negated by your shivering. “Just wait till you see what else is in the car.”

“Well, now I’m even more excited,” she responded. Vi had been toweling herself dry and was about to get redressed when she surveyed you, still dripping in places and shivering. “Okay, let me help you dry off, since I seem to be more immune to the chill than you.” She gave you a crooked smile, stepping closer and grabbing the edges of your towel.

“Ya, alright,” was all you managed before Vi started patting you down, moving the towel over your arms and belly, then pulling it completely off you to dry your legs. She made sure you were pretty much completely dry before grabbing your shirt and pulling it over your head, forfeiting your bra. She grabbed a sweatshirt next, which happened to be the one she had been wearing earlier, but she didn’t seem to mind when she pulled it down over your head.

“I can manage the rest, I think,” you said, giving her a kiss on the cheek. She nodded, then started redressing herself, also forfeiting her bra and eventually pulling on your sweatshirt. Once you both were dressed and adequately warmed up, you shoved the wet towels, dirty socks, and both bras into the duffle bag. And then arm-in-arm, you walked back to the car, giggling as you went.

When the car came into sight, you popped the trunk using the key and watched it slowly rise open. You put the duffle bag down and removed the blanket, revealing a wicker basket, a medium sized cooler, and an extra pile of blankets.

“I figured alongside skinny dipping we could also have a picnic,” you said as you pulled the wicker basket and cooler forward, flipping the top on both to uncover what you had packed. In the basket there were meats, cheeses, crackers, fruit, and veggies, and in the cooler was a bottle of sparkling cider, dip for the veggies, and some ice cream sandwiches you were praying weren’t completely melted yet.

You glanced towards Vi, concerned slightly by her silence, and found her pouting, holding back tears. She scooped you up into a hug, squeezing tight. She was so incredibly thankful, but you knew that if she said it out loud she'd actually start crying, so you just nodded your head, gave her a small, knowing smile, and kissed her on the forehead.

You watched as she took a couple deep breaths and collected her thoughts, then looked around back towards the lake, her eyebrows knitting in concern. Before she could say anything though, you said, “We can eat here, if that's what you're thinking.” She nodded, giving you a knowing smile. You seemed to always be able to read her mind.

Collectively you laid out one of the blankets on the bed of the trunk, turned on the car to blast the heat and provide some toons, and unpacked the food and arranged it between the both of you. You ate, talked, and simply enjoyed each other’s company.

Eventually, though, it came time to pack up, so you reloaded the car, making sure you didn’t leave anything behind, and began the drive back home. With the radio low and a blanket draped across her lap, however, Vi was helpless to the call of sleep, and began softly snoring half way back to the apartment. You watched her out of the corner of your eye, admired how peaceful she looked, and recounted everything that had just happened. You don’t think you had ever seen Vi this happy consecutively ever. This whole list business was going to take some serious effort to complete, but if it was all going to be this fun, all going to make Vi this happy, you’d do it a million times over.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Your Sky (Sun iQIYI) ep 11 of 12 - Oh no my babies are in trouble! I actually don’t mind the coming out being part of the conflict, it’s rare to see these days, but it was more common in early BL. This show feels like such a throwback Thai BL anyway, that it’s sort of goes with the story. Of course it was conflict that was resolved almost immediately. But honestly I’m so charmed by the show I don’t mind any of this.

ThamePo (Fri YT) ep 8 of 12 - still enjoying but annoyed by Jun. I’m glad everybody’s feelings have been made clear, Iun is too much a little shit for the way he went about it. The hand holding was very cute tho. 

Truer words! When a character reveals the entire plot of a show.

The Boy Next World (Sun IQIYI) ep 4 of 10 - Phu’s friends are the best. I love them so much. Still cautiously enjoying this.

The Heart Killers (Weds Gaga) ep 10 of 12 - Why are Kant’s pants always too short in this show? Meanwhile, the plot progresses as expected. But it’s OK. I’m enjoying it enough. I like that Kant, who is slightly evil, is willing to go even more evil for the man he loves. It was a twist I was not expecting. I believe it less with Style. Oh my, have we turned into a caper all of a sudden? Huh. This was a good episode. But then I do like a caper.

I’m also gonna mention briefly that I see you Heart Killers for using old tropes in a new way. The bleacher shot (Lovesick callback), the empty pool. Very very clever.

Fourever You (Thurs YT) ep 17 end - Nice solid ending I remain more interested in the couples we never got but i hope we get a season 2. 

Conclusion

A standard university Thai BL centering around two couples (med student meets engineering youth) in two parts (chasing the forever dragon that is 2 Moons). This was watchable but not much more than that with nice optics. Best if you can get hold of the extended (sexy) version especially for the second couple. 8/10 

Perfect 10 Liners (Sun YT) ep 14 of 24 - Wine is totally getting the "good one." Faifa (hands-down my favorite character in the series) is the master of the sarcastic ja particle. He’s very clever with it. Pay attention if particles in Thai interest you. I don’t understand why Yotha it’s so special that everybody’s willing to cater to his erratic whims.

(Am I the only one who thinks that Book and Santa should lead a BL together?)

Sangmin Dinneaw (Sun iQIYI) ep 5 of 10 - This is such an odd show. But it was a very nice kiss. And more.  And I love the boy admiring his marks after. Nice touch.

Flirt Milk (Sat YT) ep 2 or 10 - everyone behaves like a complete idiot and it’s driving me nuts.

Ossan‘s Love Thailand (Mon YouTube) ep 4 of 12 - I dislike most of the characters in this show, but I truly loathe the daughter character.

Impression of Youth (Taiwan Weds Viki) eps 4 of 9 - It’s modestly enjoyable but of all the relationships I think I like the brothers the best. I mostly have a smile on my face when I watch it, but so far it’s eminently forgettable. To the point where I occasionally forget to watch it when it airs. That said it looks like next week we’re getting very Taiwanese. 

Teenager Judge (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 17 of ?? - sigh

I Will Turn Back Time (China Gaga) 6 eps - It’s Chinese, no idea if it will end well or not. But it’s the stepbrothers trope. Still, I’m not gonna watch it until it’s done.

synopsis: it has always been jack and you, you and jack, a duo since you were two. that's never changed. it certainly didn't change when he joined alpine, as you got a job as well. the two of you become more inseparable than ever, much to pierre's disliking.

author's note: first fic! haven't written much in a very long time, so, hopefully, this is good! it might be combined with a smau style, for some aspects to move the plot along, so it might not be bestly formatted. enough of my ramblings, let's get into it! (titled inspired by the song by lauv bc it fit the vibes).

since the day the two met at some random park when they were annoying, bratty toddlers, it had been you and jack, one not far from the other. in school, in extra curriculars, on the karting track, even though you were in the stands cheering jack on. everywhere, all the time, you were never apart.

he supported you through everything, just as you had. he was the first person you came out to, showing how much trust and confidence you had in him. from then on, jack made sure you had everything you needed to help you feel more like yourself, from binders to more masculine presenting clothes until you could get the medical treatment to help you full ly transition.

when jack went into the bigger leagues, many fans began speculating the relationship between the two. some saw it as a close friendship while most others were convinced the two were together. neither party involved ever confirmed nor denied the rumors, finding them incredibly entertaining.

the rumors never stopped. they grew even heavier once jack officially joined alpine as a driver for the 2025 season. of course, jack fought tooth and nail for you to get a job alongside him. that's how you ended up as alpine's newest social media admin, allowing you to spend even more time with jack, much to everyone—especially pierre who is much like most fans: desperately wanting the two to be together.

every time pierre turned the corner, there you two were, giggling over something you had on your phone, giving each other longing stares when you thought the other was looking. if it wasn't that, you two were sulking because either you had to do your admin duties or jack was in a meeting. truly, pierre thought, this is the most pathetic thing ever.

pierre had about enough after about two weeks of dealing with the two complaining to him when they weren't together. he was going to devise a plan (with some help from charles) to finally get the two to get together. even if it was the last thing he would ever do.

step one of pierre's brilliant plan: get you to confess. okay, so not the best or well thought of plan, but this was the best him and charles could come up with. he was losing his mind over the two of you! you both were driving him insane over the fact that you practically refused to get together. that would all end today.

he started by subtly dropping hints to you while you were taking pictures for instagram. "maybe you should get jack out here to. he loves when you give him attention," pierre says, trying to keep his expression cool but his eyebrows raised and his smile grew wide and mischievous.

"yeah..." you say awkwardly in reply, your eyebrows pinching together as you force a smile to your lips. pierre was acting weirder than usual but you brushed it aside. "just smile, alright?"

when that didn't work, pierre tried with jack. you had been busy snapping shots of the mechanics, leaving jack a mopey mess. pierre cheered to himself, the perfect moment falling into his dumb, french lap.

"jack! there you are!" pierre exclaims, once more trying to keep things casual and cool, and once more, absolutely crashing and burning.

"huh?" jack asks, looking around before spotting pierre. "oh, hey," he says simply, going back to scrolling mindlessly on his phone, pouting as he continues to wait for you to return. "what's up?"

"just seeing where you were. i was wondering if you had any, i don't know, plans later tonight?" pierre questions, wiggling his eyebrows.

jack laughed awkwardly, thinking it pierre was asking him out. "haha, yeah, um i thought you had a girlfriend?" he says uncertainly, scratching the back of his neck and trying to be nice.

"what? i do- oh! no, no, no! i meant for you and-" at that very moment, you had walked back in, grinning widely at his phone. you were proud of the shots you had taken and wanted to show jack immediately.

"jack! there you are! i wanna show you the pictures! oh, hey, pierre," you say dismissively, pushing past the older man to sit next to jack. that's when you notice the weird expression in his face. "what's with that face, doohan?" you question, tilting your head.

"pierre was asking about our plans tonight," jack starts, grinning at you brightly. "think he was asking me out or something!" at that, the two of you bursted out laughing, pierre wearing an expression of both relief and horror.

"no! i was trying to get you together!" pierre insists, though he was ignored as the two were laughing so hard, they began to cry.

you leaned against jack as he laced your fingers together. "that's very thoughtful of you, old man, but we got it all figured out," you tell him, pulling out your phone and showing jack all the shots you took, the two of you deliberating over which ones to post.

safe to say, pierre was no longer annoyed that you weren't together but rather because you were together.

Ken, tonight the powerplay just wasn’t able to get started against the Sirens. Was there a particular reason or just an off night for you guys?

[Taylor Heise definitely makes a face when that question was asked.]

Yeah, I thought it was a couple of things. I thought they really pressured at the right time. You know, they tripled up whenever they had a chance, whenever we weren’t sharp with the puck. And you know, they did a good job on it. They kept us on our heels. It was just one of those things. We still had a couple good looks. We had one right coming down the slot. You get, I’d say, two good looks per powerplay then you feel like you’re still generating. But tonight it was just tough. They did a good job on the kill. I think it was a combination: we just weren’t quite as sharp as we have been and, credit to them, they did a good job as well.

Reporter:

Taylor, the third time out of 4 games this season you guys have gone to overtime with New York—or a shootout—is there- Do you sense a rivalry brewing? Or is there any kind of, like, friendly fire in a sense of when you see New York on the schedule you’re kinda looking forward to those games?

[She hides it well, but this session is probably the most annoyed I can remember ever seeing Heise.]

Yeah, I think we’ve left some things to be decided, I guess, during these games. And it’s- I don’t know if it’s more of a rivalry more so with them or just with our own selves. I think- You know, we want to win every single game, but we know in this league that’s not always gonna happen. But as long as you come out- like we took a point. That’s not always what you want, but you want something when you come out of it. And I think when you look at these games they’re all gonna be close. But, yeah, you think we, obviously looking at it after this, I think we’re gonna have a chip on our back that we need to kinda get going a little bit.

Reporter:

Taylor, when you’re approaching a shootout, I don’t know how much insight you can provide, but how do you change it up? Do you really plan it out beforehand? What’s your thought process going into it? Especially when you go more than once.

TAYLOR HEISE:

Yeah, I think for me, I just try to have something in my mind. And then I think when I- when you stick to one thing: that can change very quickly. So the first one, that wasn’t what I was planning on doing. I just saw that she was deep in the net, tried something else, she made a really good kick save, behind her back, whatever. But yeah, I just think when you have- when you're getting these chances, obviously coach is putting me out there because he has confidence in what I’m doing. And the last one I needed to put in the net. Like, that’s simply on me and I will take credit for that one. But yeah, I just try to have an open mind because if I get closed down, I just think that it doesn’t work for me.

Reporter:

Ken, throughout those series this year you guys have been the more dominant team pretty much in every period. Like, you’ve only come away with a win once. Is there a sort of reason to it? You’ve been causing them to turn the puck over on force and everything, but yet you aren’t able to capitalize off of it.

KEN KLEE:

Yeah, I mean, games are tight. We know they’re gonna- all the games are gonna be tight. We’ve had tight games with them. I mean we’re a minute away from getting 3 points and they get a 6-on-5 goal late. You know, I mean, obviously they hemmed us in 6-on-4 for a long time and then we got tired, we didn’t get it clear. So you know we’re a minute away from getting 3 points. So it’s nothing major that we need to change up. It’s a good game. Both teams are battling hard and it’s tough to get points.

I thought about Heir to Light recently and realized it's been like half a year since it finished! (Time flies. How is it almost 2025.) In light of this revelation I will ask: what was your favorite scene/chapter to write? What was the most challenging?

Hi!! I know, isn’t that crazy? It was such a constant for so long. And 2025 is such a big number…

Spoilers for my fic “Heir to Light” ahead <3

Thank you so much for the question!

I’m having trouble choosing! I think, as for the chapter I love to reread, it’s Chapter XVII because Garreth and Kendra finally kiss. I love reading that chapter because it’s such a nice catharsis to all their conflict. But, that’s not the question lol. As for writing…

Chapter III and V were my first favorites! I remember, early on, really enjoying writing those. See, I had a draft of Heir to Light up until the 2nd or 3rd chapter sitting in my docs for an about a year until I showed it to @carolinelikesdinner and they encouraged me to continue. She also gave me the idea for a treehouse! And writing Garreth and Kendra getting to know each other was so fun and adorable. Those chapters made me really excited to continue writing.

Also, I really loved writing Chapter XV when Ronodin enters not as a character of the past, but someone actively working with them. He’s absolutely hilarious. And not serious, which is so fun to contrast against Kendra who naturally is more poetic and moody about most things. It also was fun to write his and Garreth’s relationship considering how fraught Garreth and Kendra were at the time. Truthfully, Ronodin is fun to write in any fic, at any time.

Finally, the last chapter XX was so gratifying to write, and I had so much fun. I love the ending. I used seasons a lot in the story. They leave Fablehaven during fall, have the most hardship during winter, but the story leaves them in spring for their new beginning.

Plus, the chapter right before that, from Garreth’s point of view is such a sweet homecoming. I love that one so much. They’re like my babies and I had to let them go. I really liked the line “Their futures were bright and they would ride out the twilights together. “ because they will!!!

As for challenging chapters, anything that had a fight scene was always annoying to write for me. But, it’s funny because the most challenging chapters to write end up becoming my favorites to read. Like, the Chapter XVII above or Chapter XIX when Kendra faces the Sphinx and Garreth dies. You guys are lucky, though, that he came back to life, because in the original outline he was straight up supposed to die. But, I got too attached and couldn’t do it. Instead, I killed Muriel (sorry girl!).

Chapter IX when Garreth finds out about Kendra’s magic was also hard to write, but mostly so hard to decide how I wanted it to go! I had two main versions: the one in the fic and one where he saves her. But, I ended up wanting conflict between them (I had just broken up so this was also probably some projection), and I liked the idea of Garreth and Eve being different in their reaction to magic and that being directly related to their relationship with their father.

Anyway, thank you so much for the question! I loved writing this fic so much. They took up so much space in my head I could probably talk about it for hours.

For the first time [in a long time], he didn't go to the Worlds [last winter], and the few bright spots in his season simply don't merit selection in an A group at his age."

Excuse me, biathlon fandom, I need to vent and to rant for a bit. I know this is a bit biased because I obviously hold a lot of affection for Antonin, but I have to talk in front of such bullshit.

So recently French selection took Antonin and Emilien out of the A group. And this article then appeared as the explanations. Now, as to why I’m wildly unhappy with it;

The French team reduced their group from 7 to 5. We could argue that taking Emilien out could be justified as he had time where he didn’t race, but I feel like if you take that in account it’s even worse. He had to take a break in his season, he even thanked the trusts of his coaches, and then he’s evaluated as “he’s been stagnant for two season, he needs to be out”. When he couldn’t even compete.

Now onto the biggest case that makes me annoyed the most, Antonin. Antonin has experience, and maybe his performances aren’t stellar but he’s mostly capable and he’s a good relay (a thing France has clearly been lacking during last season - they had literally four people to do every relay).

For me Bouthiaux’s words are those of an hypocrite. Antonin did amazing results in the European championships, and yet he wasn’t selected. It’s not his fault he wasn’t at the worlds, yet it’s displayed as if it was. The French team didn’t even take six people to the worlds and Oscar didn’t do a single race.

They expect him to rival the Norwegians in the IBU cup, but let me tell you one thing. I’ve spent my year watching the IBU Cup and those Norwegians are freaking talented. Some of them have World Cup level, and what I mean by that is top ranks on the World Cup. Johan-Olav Botn is one example. And yet, Antonin still manages to get a win, podium and good positions.

When I look at Antonin and Oscar’s seasons, I find them pretty similar. But it’s not to say one is better than the others, but that both of them should be on the World Cup.

What I really mean is that the French team is playing dangerous game now. They’re not realistic. They want to pretend they can do the same thing as Norway, they want to prioritize only five people as they’re the “best”, but not everyone is Eric. They should use the people they already have in the team, instead of doing this. We saw the results of using only four people for a relay the entire season.

They keep using the arguments that “this will help them to get motivated again and bring results again”, but even when there are results, they are not rewarded.

At this rate if they want to push Antonin to retire, they wouldn’t need to do anything else.

They pushed people out of the A group, to replace them … with nobody. Honestly at some point the French team could encounter a bigger crisis and I wouldn’t even be surprised, I would say I know what caused it :/

I can’t bring myself to like those decisions and I feel like they deserve better.

I don’t really know what replacing Logan right now gets you long term since Carlos is signed for next year. Especially if it’s Mick who, let’s be honest, I don’t think is getting one of the remaining 2025 seats. Kimi makes a little bit more sense but goes against their insistence that they’re not a junior team. Either driver also has a risk of being crash-prone (bc let’s be honest, mick’s time at haas wasn’t exactly ideal even with the hot mess that was haas at the time).

I think ultimately it depends on how desperate they are for p8 in the championship. Which, to be fair, they’re only 6 points away. But at the same time they only have 4 points in 14 races. The momentum isn’t exactly in their favor, and that’s not all down to Logan.

I’m also so tired of all these rumors coming up and then nothing happening. If you’re going to replace him, just do it, but if not I’d really like to stop hearing about it. (this is NOT directed at you to be clear, it’s the media)

Long term, nothing. In the short term, it reduces your costs for the year. Logan is a liability. He could bin it at any time, and cost half a million several times before the end of the season.

Mick was crash prone but he was also trying to prove himself. He’s not getting a 2025 seat and he knows it. If they tell him “just keep it out of the wall, that’s the job” I have to believe he wouldn’t be taking unnecessary risks. Kimi…has a seat for next year, and a big testing schedule. Would they not just let him finish his only f2 season? Is driving a Williams for a few races going to prepare him for driving a Mercedes that much? I guess it’s always good to have race experience…idk.

Their place in the championship is down to the car. The car is trash. But Logan has eaten into the development budget and just generally been pretty useless. I do think the rumour mill is annoying though - either do it or don’t. I said the same thing about replacing Perez. Sometimes I think the teams put the rumours out to gauge public opinion or to force decision makers into pulling the trigger.

Bianca is a teenager whose first language isn't English. I am autistic and I absolutely understand how hurtful people using it as a derogatory term can be; I had to moderate comments through the Max Verstappen vs Mongolia incident and honestly, probably some percentage of why I am so mad still.

Listen, This is my crazy time. I always fall off the radar a little bit when I get hit with the family Christmas tsunami of joy. I have dinners, parades, light tours, train rides, pj pictures, tree decorating, cocktail parties, and a few December birthdays sprinkled in there as well. I’m bursting with fucking holiday jolliness. So, please don’t be alarmed when I didn’t rush home to work on Maier’s 5th BDOTW.  It’s quite a feat, and it will end up winning him a hundred bucks, but the dude was talking shit about our matchup this week, saying shit like “I finally slayed all you sluts.” man, fuck that guy, he’s going to get what is coming to him. He has the curse of the #1 seed, and his fall will be great. Remember, the empty drum bangs the loudest.  But this week’s write up is not about him… it’s about the other him, you know who I’m talking about. Do you think he realizes that he’s left 90 free dollars on the table? 90 bucks for just reading high quality LOG write ups. Do you think I received a stinky pinky, new england clam chowder or a big bubba log thigh? I didn’t. And now this mother fucker who started a guy who was almost dead for three straight weeks is sitting in a prime position to sneak into the playoffs.  Now I know I am the asshole here. LOG CHANGES FOR 2025 

We are going back to our roots for draft day. We are going old school. Clip boards, paper and pens at the draft. No more phones or tablets to assist in the draft. Now I know the value in these modern gadgets. But I don’t want to see guys annoyed or upset that their gadget might get ruined by a pool dunk or a champagne squirt. I don’t want to see “Roman” avoiding the sticker board because he is catching up or having trouble with his app.  We put them away, we do paper and pen, we try to pay attention, it’s a shit show, if we find a violation, we will penalize accordingly, loss of keeper, loss of FAB or something. Clipboard, trunks and a positive attitude is all you need to bring to draft day moving forward! 

Loser of the league will sing the national anthem to kick off the following draft. (after the maier/hames bet is final)

The LOG is moving to the SLEEPER app in 2025

Draft weekend is now 2 weekends before Labor Day. Not the weekend before labor day, but the one before that. 

The throbber and stinky dick will be retired. There will be some other rule tweaks that affect scoring and those will be retired

The LOG championship belt will also be retired after year 10. LOG 2.0 will have a new belt and the old will be present for photos at draft weekends (not for losers).

In 2025, I want to pan these products! I bought quite a few products when I was younger and got mildly caught in a makeup craze.

Even then, I rarely wore makeup (only when clubbing when my little emo self went alllllll the way out) and now that I have to do stuff like go to work, I find myself rarely using makeup. I have these nice products, and want to use them, which is where this year’s project comes in.

The products are:

Too Faced Cocoa Contour: Bought in 2015 in NYC during my first ever Sephora trip lmfao. I used this pretty consistently and loved it, and once it started panning I got scared and backed off using it because I didn’t want it to run out…lol. I use the darkest shade for my brows, so I don’t see it being finished this year but I have a pretty good chance of finishing the other colors. The shimmer in this palette is my favourite of all time!

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes: The palette that made my mom mildly annoyed because of the shade names. Bought in the aforementioned NYC trip and then hardly used because I never wear natural looks casually and hardly wore makeup to work. Chosen to be panned as it’s my oldest palette and I want to experiment with eye looks at work.

Revolution Girl’s Best Friend Triple-Baked Highlighter: Bought this with my best friend in approx 2019 while in London together. I previously had panned a Fenty highlighter that same friend gave me and I will die on my overly highlighted hill, I don’t even know if we are still doing highlighter in 2025 but my skeleton will have poorly placed highlighter on.

Random fusion of ELF cream blushes where the package snapped and glitter singles from Revolution: I rotate the blushes based on the season to suit the mood but I would like to hit pan on at least one? The glitters I honestly think I may pan if I wear makeup on weekends, because I’m a glitter girl to my core.

So is NCIS: Origins an inspired idea or an overused trope? It’s a fine line we’re currently straddling.

And while we love the NCIS universe, when will we decide we’ve had enough of the spinoffs and the expanded franchise? Regardless of when that time is, it’s not here in 2024.

After the sad news of a last-minute cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i, NCIS fans are getting two new spinoffs, NCIS: Tony and Ziva in 2025 and NCIS: Origins, joining the CBS fall lineup along with NCIS Season 22.

NCIS: Origins: Inspired Idea or Overused Trope?

When news first broke of yet another NCIS spinoff coming soon, the mental anguish began. We’ve witnessed multiple attempts to expand the NCIS universe to varying degrees of success.

NCIS has spanned the country, from Virginia to LA to Louisiana to Hawai’i. It’s even gone international with agents in Australia. Hey, that approach worked for FBI: International.

So, does it really count?

After several failed attempts, writers decided to take a new approach to their NCIS spinoffs by focusing less on the locale and more on the characters.

The original NCIS series is still going strong after twenty-plus years.

And that’s largely because of the continuing legacy left behind by Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Anthony DeNizzo, and Ziva David.

Although they’ve left NCIS to move on with their lives, fans still cling to their memory.

So much so that the two upcoming NCIS spinoffs feature all three of our favorite former agents.

NCIS: Origins is an Inspiring Idea

Gibbs is back! But not how we remember him when he left.

NCIS: Origins is traveling back in time. To 1991.

Origins will not only show us how Gibbs became the aloof, distant leader we all miss, but also take us to the early days of the NCIS agency.

Jethro is fresh off the trauma of Desert Storm and the losses of his wife and child.

While Gibbs is put together and emotionally closed off in his Silver Fox era, Origins promises to give us a more raw, less controlled (and younger) Jethro. Another major change will be the pacing.

Origins will be more action-packed and character-focused, giving us a deep look at the personal side of Gibb’s life.

The latest NCIS: Origins promo teases viewers like me, who consider themselves Gibbs experts, promising a side of Gibbs we’ve never seen before.

Holy NCIS!

We’ll also become more familiar with significant people who impacted Gibbs’s life as a Greenhorn newbie agent and a grieving soldier.

From Daddy Gibbs to Gibbs’ mentor Mike Franks and more, fans will get a deeper look at Leroy’s formidable years.

NCIS: Origins is Another Overused Trope

While the previews for NCIS: Origins have intrigued me, I’m also annoyed at the news of yet another spinoff.

People like me might be in the minority, but sometimes a show is better off left to phase out over time to make way for new blood. But that doesn’t mean there should be any relation between the old and the new.

Imitation may be the highest form of flattery, but tossing out spinoffs of a successful show is overdone and a bit lazy.

Have we really seen everything done to the point that we have to regurgitate the same shows with a new twist?

It seems like most shows in our TV lineup fall into one of those two categories — reboots or spinoffs.

We rarely see original ideas; if we do, they don’t survive long.

Given that NCIS’s previous attempts have had less success with each spinoff, the two new attempts feel like a last-ditch effort to keep the franchise relevant despite the changing landscape.

NCIS: Los Angeles – 2009-2023 (14 seasons)

NCIS: New Orleans – 2014-2021 (7 seasons)

NCIS: Hawai’i – 2021-2024 (3 seasons)

NCIS: Sydney – 2023-present (on its second season as of Fall 2024)

NCIS: Origins – 2024- (1 season) <– We are Here

NCIS: Tony & Ziva – 2025 (TBD)

But what should we expect from a series that has found two decades of success as a spinoff itself? A show of hands for who knew that NCIS was a spinoff of the ’90s series JAG?

So, after seeing some failures in making a spinoff work by location, it feels like the writers have done a desperate final two-second Hail Mary.

The solution — an entire series about everyone’s favorite fearless leader — before he became the boss. Intriguing, but not exactly a substitute for Mark Harmon.

While we won’t see Harmon in his most notable role on our screens, he will lend his voice to the series as a narrator. Austin Stowell will portray a younger Gibbs at the start of his career as a newly minted agent with the NIS.

Is NCIS: Origins an Inspired Idea or an Overdone Trope?

While NCIS: Origins takes a new approach to the franchise and serves as a prequel to the original series, it’s still a spinoff of the original.

Or is this yet another wasted attempt for the NCIS franchise to compete with other ongoing franchises?

Both Law & Order and FBI are successful at having several series under their umbrella, although the trend started years ago.

These days, it seems like most series begin with the intent to franchise into the next big universe.

They way Ferrari management has handled this is pretty gross. They could have waited till end of 2024 to announce rather than announcing before the 2024 season. This is just cruel to Carlos who has to endure this toxic work environment and who’ll be hounded by the media about his job status for 2025.

Also, just saw their Instagram. They mentioned about Lewis joining but no mention of Carlos leaving. Carlos was with them for a few seasons. The least they could do is be a bit respectful and acknowledge Carlos. Ugh I’m so annoyed.

i’m sure they’ll posta a whole goodbye thing for carlos towards the end of the season or maybe when it starts but it just feels so . nasty to sit and tell him before he even begins that he has no chance of gaining any contract with them when there was supposedly clauses in his contract for this year with requirements for him to meet to further his contract and having that stripped away ???? nasty . mans got to go through the car reveal and the whole season with everyone down his throat wondering if he’ll even be employed next year it can’t feel good . he’s a confident guy he’s sure of himself and his talents he always has been i doubt it’ll affect him to negatively in the long run but it has to be crushing and disheartening to be in that position
