His cousin’s door creaked open as Izuku poked his head in, trying to make sure the bright light from the hallway didn’t hit Tenko’s eyes. Inko had told him his adopted brother was feeling sick, but she had to work - so of course Izuku had volunteered to say home to look after the other. Tenko would do the same for him, after all.

Sitting carefully on the edge of the bed, Izuku quickly gave him a poke to ensure he was awake before raising his hands. Do you need anything? Without waiting for a verbal response, he’d placed a cloth in some cold water and placed it over the older’s forehead. That should help bring the fever down. I have medicine here too, if you can take it...

He had to pause as Ramen hopped up onto the bed, Izuku not able to stop him - promptly curling up next to the sick teenager. Ah. I guess Ramen wants to help, too....cuddles with him always make me feel better.

throws his invention notebook at the wall, followed by his communications notebook. starts bashing his head on the desk instead.

There’s a loud sniff, as green hair rises from his absolute huge pile of blankets and pillows. It takes a moment, but bloodshot eyes appear, taking in the newcomer to his dorm room.

There’s blinking at him for a good thirty seconds, pink cheeks and eyes dull of their usual vibrant green as if he was having trouble recognising him. Eventually, he forces his hands out from his mound of blankets to sign at him.

Thank you, Kacchan. The signs are a lot sloppier than normal, sneezing and throwing a tissue towards his overflowing bin. You really didn’t have to, it’s not that bad. He smiles a little, remaining curled up and making no attempt to move.

Uh...I’ll take it in a bit if you leave if on the desk.... Making a face at the bottle, shooting his hands back into the warmth.

Izuku’s heart almost stopped once he got his assignment for the day. At the very least, his heart unhelpfully relocated into his throat without his permission, making his breathing difficult.

Still, he signed that he understood, scooped up his various notebooks and took a step towards the classroom. Mind battling with itself with every step he took - he was finally getting his old dream from a long time ago, heading into the class that he desperately wanted. It was just...he was getting inside another way, ensuring his support items were around his waist. 

It wasn’t like he’d not worked so hard to get there. Clearing the beach nearby his house while looking for support time materials seemed like the right thing to do, alongside improving his physical capabilities. Making hauling inventions around fairly easy. But still...a part of him longed for it still, despite his new dream.

Knocking once, twice, then sliding the door open and taking a trembling step into the room - his notebook almost fell from this fingers. All Might.

He’d not seen the other since that painful time on the roof - the final straw when his dreams had been completely shot down. Gulping, trying to squish the fear and...raw emotion away from his eyes, he started raising his hands to sign. Then decided instead, he could write a note.

Scooping his most darkest, reddest pen from his selection - it was clear what colour that pen represented - he started scribbling for a couple of minutes, trying to ignore the murmurs of the other students in the room and - oh, that was Kacchan. A thought passed of if he could re-do today.

After a couple of minutes, he all but marched to the teacher’s desk and placed the book down, a written note in still drying ink. ‘I’m Midoriya Izuku from the Support Course. I’ve been assigned to your class today to make notes to upgrade your class’ hero costumes. I’m sure Power Loader let you know.’ Face hidden to try and prevent his true emotions - fear, anger, rage, a deep sadness - seeping through. ‘I hope I won’t be in the way.’

It was rare for Izuku to stir in the night, at least when Hitoshi was around. Despite his tendencies to stay awake to the late hours of the night working on inventions, once you’d gotten him to sleep, he tended to stay that way. Blankets rustled a little as he slowly opened his eyes, humming a little in groggy confusion. Aware enough to tell it definitely wasn’t time to be awake yet, shifting a little while trying to be mindful of his hopefully sleeping boyfriend next to him.

Of course, Hitoshi himself wouldn’t be asleep - he really didn’t know why he’d expected any different at this point, being used to him not sleeping. Izuku prepared himself for questions about why he was awake, except...they didn’t come. Instead, a hand touched the top of his head before slowly running down his face. Only stopping once they’d reached his chin before the gesture repeated, twice, three times. Oh, Oh it was nice. Tilting his face into the touch to bask in it before one movement had fully completed.

“Thank you.” Soft words for a change, finding he’s too tired to lift his hands to sign - and it’s Hitoshi, one he trusts with his voice. Around other people, he would not - but here in the safety of several blankets and a mountain of pillows, it was safe enough for him to use his words, if a little thick from sleep and not much use throughout the day. “That feels really nice....could you please do it again?”

Hands frantically wave Hitoshi over, grinning at him. Sure, he’d just stepped inside his dorm room but still. He was happy to see him.

“Hitoshi!!!” He signed, hands blurring from how excited he was. “Hi, Hi! How was your training today?”

Zuku was eager for the offer to study outside for a change while the weather outside was so nice. He’d gotten completely lost in writing down notes and tinkering with his newest support item, brow scrunched in concentration. Silence broken by occasional signs or the sound of metal pieces being slotted together, or the light scribble of words on paper.

Abruptly, he was pulled from his thoughts via something hitting his hair, the sensation of hands leaving his head made him glance up and meet his brother’s eyes, the smile he was wearing triggering Zuku to smile right back. A hand rose in confusion to touch the top of his head, his gaze softening as he realised what was there. So that’s what was keeping Izuku so quiet.

‘Thank you.’ He signed, before getting his camera app out to check the crown. ‘It’s really pretty!’

There’s lots of rapid signing. Very, very fast rapid signing. Hands are actually blurring at the movement, there’s so many Quirks to analyse and talk about -

There were worse places the pair could be stuck, Zuku mused, absentmindedly stroking down Blue’s head. It was a good thing the brothers had headed downstairs to take Blue out before taking the elevator back up, though.

Mainly because the elevator had stopped halfway up. Quickly bringing out his mobile, Zuku had realised his had no signal. Which was a bit of a bother. Hopefully another student would realise the situation and inform Aizawa or someone. Tapping his brother’s shoulder to get his attention, he pointed to his mobile. 

Do you have yours? He finger spelled with one hand, a shiver ripping down his back. It was cold in here. It’s a good thing Blue just went outside, huh? Are you doing all right in here? Sure, he wasn’t comfy on dark spaces but knew his brother might be having an issue. Once again, glad they had said pup with them, leaning to provide his brother with comfort if he so needed it.

The words slam into him with the force of a train, knocking the wind out of him. Breath halted and when his breathing restarted, it was rather shaky, tears in his eyes. Did Izuku really mean that? Did Izumo really make him feel that bad?

Was it because he didn’t talk?

Eyes fell onto his phone, shaking hand reaching for the device. Tears hit the desk beneath him as he used it to type out a message, pushing the phone towards the younger with eyes trained on anywhere but his brother.

I’m sorry I make you feel that way. I’m sorry I don’t talk. I’m sorry I couldn’t go into the hero course. I’m sorry I’m not a good enough brother. Why don’t you go hang out with your classmates, I’m sure they won’t make you feel that way.

Once he’d estimated the younger had read what he had to say, he snatched the phone roughly back, turning completely aware.
