HOLLYTAYA FANKID DROPPED 🔥🔥🔥
say hi to Mistleberry Cookie! consider her a cross between hollyberries and mistletoe! despite not resembling mistletoe much, I've chosen to name her Mistleberry because mistletoe often gets confused with holly... (or at least I confused them???) much like Mistleberry is (technically obligatory for Hollyberry's sake) "confused" with ONLY being Hollyberry's kid. Looking at Mistleberry, it's pretty clear she's also Pitaya's daughter, but. Shhh. We wouldn't want House Cranberry to find that out. Giant dragon wings are... kind of hard to hide, but seeing as Pitaya was able to hide theirs easily in Legend of the Red Dragon, we can probably assume Dragon Wings™️ can be turned on/off in the settings 💥
Fun facts and OC lore!
- Mistleberry can fly and DOES have a dragon tail that she can't hide! That's why she wears her huge dress!
- I don't consider her as co-existing with Royalberry Cookie! She's sort of a "what if Hollyberry had baked her kid with some of Pitaya's dough too?"
- ^ The above is funny because I headcanon Royalberry as being Pitaya's kid... BUT IF HE WASN'T... Oh, whoops. That's not a Mistleberry fact- Back to her!
- Her personality is a mix of Pitaya's and Princess Cookie. Like Princess Cookie, she often runs off on adventures (and to go see her other mom/dad/parent at the Dragon's Valley. But you know. She doesn't have to do that very often because they spend more time in the Hollyberry Kingdom.)
- She has massive amounts of beef with wyverns. My other OC, Shadow Milkshake (Mistleberry's cousin!) knows more Dragontongue than her. Mistleberry can vaguely understand Dragontongue, but not speak it. Therefore, she gets clowned on by wyverns for being the daughter of the Red/Greenish Red Dragon and being TRASH at Dragontongue. Despite this, she can take on a small dragon form for short amounts of time. I'd say she's the size of Pitaya Dragon if they were scaled down to 3/4 of a door's height. Weird measurement to use for my OC? It comes with being American 💔
- One of her favorite places to sneak off to is Dragon City, which Hollyberry used to disapprove of (since she's half-dragon). Hollyberry stopped caring after she was an adult, but she'd sneak off there as early as her teen years! To this day, she wonders why she's told she resembles Sweet Pinkyberry Cookie whenever she visits. Like, who is that? ⁉️
- She DOES have a disguise for her travels! I'll draw it soon! It's about as good as Hollyberry and Pitaya's. You can guess what that means 😭
thanks for looking at my OC!!!! this has been in the drafts for a bit so I thought I'd free her ♥️

i love your of mice and men oc. let me tell you i was scrolling thru the omam tag after reading that book for class because GOSH that ending destroyed me. bronwyn is so cute!!! and i love the ideas you have for her character and how she’d add onto the book. is there any more of your character that u thought of?? i’d love it hear it! ur art is stunning btw!!!
artists and writers are the backbone of dead fandoms. but i dont know if you could even call this fandom dead cuz i dont think it even had a life 💀
THANK YOU SO INCREDIBLY MUCH!!
this means the entire world to me you have no idea just how touched i am that you love my oc 💖 💖!! be VERY careful going through the of mice and men tag because unfortunately there are a LOT of nsfw bots!!
as for anything else relating to Bronwyn and her character, I don't have much else written/in mind other than that I have already shared other than maybe two things (copied and pasted from a document i made just to keep track of her lore):
Candy and Bronwyn probably wouldn't be close despite Candy having worked at the ranch for years. Not because of anything bad that happened between them, however I imagine that Candy was initially the main contributor to all the gossip said about her on the ranch and later on he learned she wasn't a bad person at all and just a lonely ill child, but by that point he had both immortalised her as a legend but condemned her from ever making real connections with people again. Knowing what he started and how he unintentionally isolated her and prevented her from being easily able to make friends with people on the ranch, the guilt would probably prevent him from forming any close connections with her.
I feel like if she were actually a character within the novel, her presence within the story would be similar to Andrey Bolkonsky in the musical Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812 (brilliant but strange musical btw, if you're interested in musicals it's definitely worth a listen!!). She is this looming presence amongst all the characters, always being mentioned in passing during conversation, this figure that everyone is aware of yet never sees, never actually being present in person up until the very end.
Candy would probably be the reader's introduction to Bronwyn, since Candy is a known gossiper. She'd be this influence in the story but is never truly there. I'm not too sure how she'd be important if that were the case though? Perhaps she'd be a figure symbolic of a 'point of no return' for all the characters. They all have a dream that isn't totally impossible which they come very close to achieving, and could very well leave their situation, but Bronwyn never had a chance and can never truly escape, locked up just to be forgotten about. Maybe she'd be a warning of the terrible fate which Lennie would have faced if he had lived and been institutionalised.
ANYWAYS moving past all of that; i have only made very few drawings of Bronwyn since my last post talking about her (admittedly due to extreme art block). But I’ve mostly been brainstorming about Curley and Bronwyn, the similarities and differences between them, mostly differences. Here is some of my recent art:
I always love experimenting and playing around with my style, trying out new brushes, techniques and colours <33 The last isn’t exactly my favourite mostly because i was just getting a feel for how to draw Curley and had little to no references for the pose and so it looks a little stiff. But!! I made many notes for my ideas while I was doing the sketch:
Thank you once more for your ask!! It means the world to me <33 I was so embarrassed when I first made her and feared being called ‘cringe’ or that people wouldn’t like her or something else along those lines, but the reception so far has been nothing but positive and encouraging!! I definitely plan to make more art and potentially even write some short fanfics including her in the future!!
oh one final thing, i also made a spotify playlist for her!! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0qrBhwqopc6KrC7RouFxOZ?si=GPudTv12S92QwBBXqxw0Bg&pi=khdpmOzjTfeQP
Thank you once more for being so kind <33 I hope you have the most wonderful day/evening/night!!

My top 5 vtubers
I've liked vtubers for over a year now so it's safe to say I at least know a little about them. A very very brief description of vtubers is a streamer or YouTuber who uses a virtual avatar instead of showing their face. Their avatars usually have some kind of character backstory to them as well.
Starting at number 5 is Shoto. He is the one that actually got me interested in vtubers. Before, my friend had showed me some short videos with vtubers, but I wasn't really interested. I started watching Shoto (or his username Shxtou) because I saw some videos of him on Tik Tok. Then I decided to check out his Twitch channel and he was live since it was Valentines Day. Usually for holidays like this he'll do karaoke or some other activity to engage his fans. His character lore is he's a guild leader and a demon slayer. I really like his lore because it involves his fans, which are named "guildies". He's basically the "guild leader" of the group and we're all a part of his demon slaying guild. He mostly plays indie horror games and the occasionally first person shooter. He also does a lot of streams where he does karaoke and recently he's been drawing.
Number four in my ranking is Mysta Rias. He's part of the Vtuber company "Nijisanji", specifically their English branch since this is originally a Japanese company. He was one of my first favorites from Nijisanji and I found him because of Shoto. They had done a stream together and I really liked Mysta's humor. He tends to be more on the chaotic side and has a very big personality. His character lore is he's a detective from the past who got transported to the present, and his name is actually supposed to be a play on the word mysterious. I mostly like him because his humor is very "loud" in a way. There are others on this list who have a more subtle humor, but this is the kind of humor I go to when I'm in a more upbeat mood, or just need to wake up.
Number three on my list is Gavis Bettel. He's from a different Vtuber company called Hololive. He's specifically part of the subsection called Holostars, which is a male english group. This company also started in Japan, so they have a separate branch for its english members. His character story is he's a jester, which I think makes a lot of sense since his content is very comedy focused. Some other people on this list do multiple things like sing or draw, but Bettel just plays games and makes jokes the entire time. He recently debuted earlier this year in January, so he's still very new in terms of being a company vtuber. While his humor is also pretty chaotic, I wouldn't say it's to the level of Mysta. It's still very chaotic, but not as loud.
Next on my list is Kenji. Kenji is an independent vtuber who still hasn't officially debuted yet. He's been streaming for a while now, but he talks about how he's still planning and saving up to make a character lore video. Lore videos cost a lot of money because you have to pay for multiple artists to help. The main reason I like Kenji is because he engages a lot with his community. Most of his streams are based around talking to his fans and seeing what they'd be interested in doing. He's not as big as the other vtubers I've mentioned on this list, and I think that adds to that sense of community. Once you get to a certain point in your streaming career, it can be hard to engage with fans one on one, but Kenji still has that chance.
Finally at number one is Aster Arcadia. He's also part of the group Nijisanji with Mysta Rias. He debuted in late August last year. His character backstory is he's an actual star personified and he describes his character as a celestial being. Part of the reason I like him is because he does his best to foster a wholesome and welcoming community. His streams are much calmer than the other's on this list. He tends to mainly play games like Apex Legends and League, which I'm not really interested in, but I'll still play them in the background if I'm doing something. He also does his best to engage with his audience, which is another reason I really like him.
Overall I tend to like more energetic vtubers who have a lot of energy, the only exception being Aster. Usually when I get interested in something, that interest only lasts for a month or two, so the fact I've been consistently watching vtubers for a year now is weird to think about. Every time I start to get bored of them I just find a new one who catches my attention.

4th Quarter reading (October through December)
October: Turtles All the Way Down by John Green - I really enjoyed this book. I liked the main character and her OCD was believable. Beguiled by Cyla Panin. This book didn't know what it wanted to be and it showed. Disappointing. Huntress by Malina Lo. I have no recollection for reading Ash, although I remember that I liked it, so I couldn't tell you how this was a prequel, but it was a good book. Hopefully I'll remember it in a few years. The Fox by Malinda Lo. Attached to Huntress. Should have just been deleted. A Darkness At The Door by Intisar Khanani. I really liked this series (which really was one book followed by a duology), well developed world and characters. Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope by Karamo Brown. My favorite of the Fab Five. I found this to be meh. (The fact that there was entire chapters devoted to his fiance who he broke up with about 6 months after this was published was a little *wince* Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. A truly fun, cozy fantasy book. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk. A book club book. Dragged a bit, but certainly made me think about nature and borders. The Nobleman's Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by Mackenzie Lee. A good conclusion to the trilogy (the second book was the best). Fic: Why Fanfiction Is Taking Over the World by Anne Jamison. Started reading this in 2014 and never finished. It was already dated. I would have really liked taking a college class from her. Corinne by Rebecca Morrow. I read this because there was a rumor that it was written by Stephenie Meyer. I don't think it was (but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Rainbow Rowell). It was so terribly cheesy and entirely relatable. The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting by K.J. Charles. I... did not realize when I first picked this book up that it was just a very smutty romance novel. I wanted more plot than what I was given. (Books need AO3 tags and ratings!) The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun. Truly charming.
November: Almost Like Being in Love by Steve Kluger. I think @constantcompanion told me that it was one of her favorites. Don't read this one as an ebook, the letters do not translate. The ending was unconventional. Tanqueray by Stephanie Johnson. The Humans of New York photo essay was better. The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky by Mackenzie Lee. Another one that I started reading years ago after reading Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue. It was just meh. Dracula Daily by Bram Stoker. I had never read Dracula. Tumblr made it a much more enjoyable experience than the novel itself. The Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkien (audiobook read by Andy Serkis). Andy Serkis's voice is so good (except as Galadriel) and really made this an immersive experience. The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle by Matt Cain. Truly delightful about an older man facing retiring and reexamining his life in the closet. The cross-generational friendship were the best. Demon in the Wood by Leigh Bardago. The drawings were beautiful, the story was short. Stardust by Neil Gaiman. Needed to be longer. The Guncle by Steven Rowley. I loved this book - there are not enough books dedicated to childless adults and their relationships with the niblings. The Two Towers by JRR Tolkien (read aloud by Andy Serkis). Long car trip to Utah meant plenty of time for listening to books. Eowyn's voice wasn't much better than Galadriel's, but the rest was excellent. Scattered Showers by Rainbow Rowell. Too many republished stories. 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff. Delightful correspondence. I can see why it's beloved. Paris Daillencourt Is About to Crumble by Alexis Hall. This book suffered because it was the third or fourth book that I read with a anxious/OCD protagonist and it's just becoming the trope of the month.
December: Brambles by Intisar Khanani. The prequel to Thorn. A nice introduction but you really didn't need it. Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx. Have never seen the movie. Didn't really like the characters. Writing was lovely, but I don't know that that Wyoming really ever existed. A Marvellous Light by Freye Marske. A reread. Just as delightful as the first time. A Restless Truth by Freye Marske. Not quite as good as AML and the romance wasn't as engaging. I'm excited for the concluding book though. Illuminations by T. Kingfisher. I just love every word she writes. Call Us What We Carry by Amanda Gorman. Some truly excellent poetry in this collection. I'm going to buy the book. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens as part of a daily email. Not as much tumblr discussion. The Lightning Thief by Percy Jackson. My nephew's favorite books right now and I realized I've never read. A fun romp. Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. Another book that I was cleaning out from my "started reading years ago but never finished." Enjoyable, but I don't really enjoy potty humor so I think I was the wrong audience.
Currently reading: Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present by Harriet Washington. It's a great book but it's so heavy that I can only read a chapter at a time. The White Allies Handbook: 4 Weeks to Join the Racial Justice Fight for Black Women by Lecia Michelle. I was really hoping for a Antiracism 202 kind of book and this isn't quite that. I might finish this one by tonight.
I gave up on Great Expectations, Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, and Moby Dick as emails since nobody else on tumblr seems to be reading those.

××××××
Jesla's hand fishes in her bag for some credits as she makes her way off the ship that had just landed on some planet called Nevarro. Finally, she grabs them and places them in the hand of the Twi'leck that brought her there, thanks him, and then makes her way through the town.
Now, all she had to do was buy some supplies before she made her way out of the town, away from all the inhabitants. She just needed to buy enough supplies that would last her a couple weeks. After a few years off on the run, she learned that the less she was in a populated town, the better.
She makes sure that her hood is down over her face- even though she doubts she would be recognized here- as she wanders down the streets, buying food and necessities for her survival from the vendors. She didn't have much credits left, she realized as she paid for some fruit. Hopefully this town had a place that hired bounty hunters.
Jesla was placing her purchased items into her bag when it happened. When she sensed him.
Her eyes scan around the crowd until they finally land on a pod that was following a Mandalorian. The last Mandalorian she had ever seen was a bounty hunter named Boba Fett, but he had been killed on Tatooine. Since then, she had never seen another one, which caused her to think that there wasn't anymore. Until now.
Whatever was in that pod was extremely powerful, Jesla sensed. Possibly even more powerful than her. Her curiosity got the better of her as she starts to follow them, making sure to blend in with the crowd. When the Mandalorian turns down an alley, she climbs up onto a roof of an adjacent building, following him from above.
She watches as the Mandalorian walks up to a building and knocks. A entry sensor appears and scans him before going back in. Then the door opens and two Stormtroopers walk out, making Jesla hold her breath.
The New Empire was here? And the Mandalorian was handing over the poor creature over to them?
They all walk into the building, the door closing behind them. Jesla waits for a few moments before the Mandalorian walks back out with a camtono. Alone. Without the Child. She watches as the Mandalorian looks back at the building and she senses his hesitation to leave.
The Mandalorian shook his head, muttering something to himself before he began to walk back through the town. Jesla looks back at the building, suddenly worried for the creature that was inside. What did the New Empire want with him? Did they know that he was Force-sensitive as well? Was she also in danger?
Something inside Jesla told her that if she wanted to help him, she had to follow the Mandalorian. She wasn't sure where it came from, but her old master told her to never ignore her instincts. Jesla frowns slightly as the thought of her old master crosses her mind, but she quickly shakes it off before she sets off to find the Mandalorian.
∞∞∞
Jesla is sitting in a common house nursing a drink when she sees the Mandalorian again. He's wearing new armor, made out of Beskar if she had to guess. She watches silently as an older man starts to talk to him.
“Ah, Mando! They all hate you, Mando. Because you're a legend!” The man exclaims loudly, drawing the attention of everyone in the room.
“How many of them had tracking fobs?” The Mandalorian asks gruffly, looking around at all the other bounty hunters that occupied the house.
The older man scoffed. “All of them. ALL of them! But not one of them closed the deal. Only you, Mando. Only you. And with it, the richest reward this parsec has ever seen. Please, sit my friend,” he says as he gestures to the seat across from him. The Mandalorian takes the rifle off his back and sits.
Jesla looks around the room, hearing bits and pieces of the other bounty hunters' conversations. They all seemed a bit heated about not being the one that was currently being praised by whom she assumed was their boss.
Her attention is brought back to the Mandalorian when he stands up, acting as if he was going to leave, but halts. “Any idea what they're gonna do with it?” She hears him ask the older man.
“With what?”
“The kid.”
“I didn't ask. It's against the Guild Code.”
The Mandalorian didn't know what the Empire wanted with the kid either?
∞∞∞
Jesla is perched on a rooftop across from the building that the Mandalorian had taken the kid into earlier, planning what her first move should be. If she showed herself to the Empire, they would know she was still alive. However, if she did her job right, there wouldn't be anyone left to spread the news after she was finished. All she knew was that she had to rescue the kid.
She is brought out of her thoughts when she sees the Mandalorian walk up to the front door and knock. When the entry sensor appears, he breaks it off and quickly hides himself. Stormtroopers walk out and one of them orders the other to check the perimeter. The Mandalorian then blows out a wall and enters the building.
Getting her MK-modified rifle ready, Jesla patiently waits for the Mandalorian to return. After a short while, he exits the building, the Child in one hand and a blaster in the other. He starts to walk through the town streets, Jesla jumping rooftops as she follows him.
He is finally stopped on the main street by the older man from the common house. As bounty hunters began to circle him, the Mandalorian trains his blaster on the man before him.
“Welcome back, Mando. Now put the package down,” the older man orders him.
“Step aside. I'm going to my ship,” the Mandalorian states sternly, his grip tightening around the Child.
The older man brings his hand to his chin, acting as if he was thinking about it. “Hm. You put the bounty down and perhaps I'll let you pass.”
“The kid's coming with me.”
Jesla lines up her scope with the older man as they try to negotiate with each other. Before she can take the shot though, the Mandalorian suddenly starts shooting at the bounty hunters and jumps on a speeder, hiding behind the cargo. He yells at the droid and it starts moving down the street, the hunters continuing to shoot at them. Jesla races across the rooftops, hitting some of the hunters with her blaster, causing some of them to take cover.
Finally, the speeder gets stopped by the older man shooting out the droid pilot. The Mandalorian disintegrates a few bounty hunters with his pulse rifle before he takes cover with the Child. Jesla notices someone creeping up behind him. Quickly, she snipes them before they could get him. The Mandalorian looks up and sees her for a brief moment before he pins himself down in the speeder.
“Someone find that sniper!” The older man yells as Jesla continues to snipe the other bounty hunters that try to approach the speeder. They eventually spot her and make their way to her. Jesla tries to take out as many as she can, but there are too many of them and she needs to reload. Her hand grips her lightsaber tightly. She never used it unless it was an emergency because she knew if she did, people would know what she was.
Suddenly, multiple Mandalorians appear and start fighting the hunters, drawing their attention away from her. The Mandalorian gathers up the Child and flees towards his ship. Jesla swings her sniper rifle over her shoulder and takes off after them.
She gets to the ship just in time to see the older man get blown out of it. Without thinking, Jesla slips in just as the hangar door closed. The ship takes off and flies away from Nevarro, disappearing into hyperspace.
Jesla takes a deep breath as she takes in her surroundings, her eyes widening when the realization finally hits her. What was she doing here? She didn't have the right to be here. So why did she get on?
“Trust in the Force,” a familiar voice tells her.
Before she could even wonder where that voice came from, she sensed a precence behind her. Swiftly, she draws out her blaster as she turns around, being met with the end of the Mandalorian's.
“Who are you?” He questions, his grip tightening around the gun.
She rolls her eyes, placing her blaster back into its holster. “I save your life and this is the thanks I get?” She asks sarcastically, placing her hand on her hip. The Mandalorian doesn't move. “Lighten up, will ya? Put the gun away, I'm not here to hurt you. The name's Jesla Gavdo, by the way. And you are?” She says as she holds out her hand.
The Mandalorian still doesn't move his blaster. “Then why are you here?” He asks, ignoring her question. She drops her hand and opens her mouth to say something, but stops when her eyes land on something behind him.
“Because of him.”
The Child looks back at her, a small ball in his hands. The Mandalorian watches as the Child walks up to her, neither of them breaking eye contact the whole time. Jesla slowly kneels down in front of the kid, taking her hood off and pulls down her mask. She holds out her hand to him, and after a few moments of hesitation, the Child places his hand in hers.
Din Djarin watches the entire interaction before he finally puts his blaster up. “You were the sniper,” he realizes as the woman before him stands back up. She nods as she continues to look at the kid. “Why?”
Despite it being a very vague question, Jesla understands what he means. She finally looks back at him, making eye contact through the visor of his helmet. “To protect him, just as you did,” she answers.
The Mandalorian looks down at the Child that was at his feet, as if recalling the events that had just occurred. He looks back up, his head tilted just slightly. “Why does he matter to you?”
Trust in the Force.
She hesitates for a few moments before she finally speaks. “Because... I'm just like him.”

The Truths Found On Petram Viridios IV (1/?)
What started out as an idea for a short one shot grew into a multichap that I'm almost done editing. I think 🤔 it'll be either 4 or 5 chapters long depending on how long each chapter will be after I'm done editing. Anyway, I hope you guys will enjoy.
In this fic you learn how easily things can change, but how it effects you isn't always a bad thing.
________________
Chapter 1: The Phenomenon
There was little difference to what was happening around you at the moment. There were no little green men, or yellow submarines, neither were there tangelos, or bags of golden rings, but there was a blue-haired man with plenty of dreams. Still, life was swell; summer was around the corner, and you were reading in the garage just to be near Zeta-7; he was working on his latest piece of tech, and you were distracted by his charming quirks and ticks. If you hadn't known any better, you'd say it was business as usual. Yet, it was because you had been acquainted with Rick that the previous blindspots of your world were made known to you; conscious of the rare events which were going to take place in another quadrant of space.
A phenomenon was going to occur; one which would not happen again for another 1000 years; the blooming of the Milleannos flower. Legends say that those who touch its pollen might live forever, and those who smell its perfume might be cured of all that ails them, but those claims were supposedly unsubstantiated. There was to be a gala to celebrate the occasion; all in attendance were respectable, distinguished guests and because of Rick, you were also invited, but there were rules; strict guidelines which were to be obeyed unless you wished to throw away your life. And although you weren't happy about them, you were willing to abide by them for Rick's sake. However, there were a few things you didn't understand. "Rick, why won't we be allowed to dance together?"
His hands paused their activity, and his body sagged a little; dreading the reminder not because he's informed you already, but because it pained him to remind himself that he couldn't spend a once in a lifetime occasion with you. "B-because according to the laws of Petram Viridios IV, you are assigned a um - a party companion which is determined according to the alignment of your spine, carbon dioxide levels, as well as daily water intake. And due to the variety of guests, everyone must stand at least six feet apart to avoid air poisoning. However, if given an a-air helmet in order to assist with breathing, then I believe that the last rule isn't as severe. It's - there is a-a lot to remember."
Currently, he was piecing together the circuits and connecting the wires which would power his reflective shield. It was going to be worn under his dress shirt and would be undetectable under their scanners; as a precaution of course. "Ricky, you know I barely drink water." You weren't a fan of water, but you enjoyed flavored beverages and if you did drink water, it was always carbonated first. "I mean, I can get past the distance thing, but what am I supposed to do if I'm assigned to someone I don't like, and have to spend hours being bored and jealous that you're next to gorgeous, realistic fembots from Westworld?"
Unlike you, Zeta-7 drank so much water, you wondered how he wasn't rushing to the bathroom every five minutes. The only other people who drank that much water were beauty gurus who wanted to keep their skin in tip-top shape; you could really try harder if you wanted to. Good naturedly, he answered. "Gosh, y-you don't have to worry about that. I know a fembot when I-I see one."
You raised a brow at this, but seeing as he meant it literally, you listened on. "No s-siree, I won't be assigned a party companion because I'm going t-t-to be assisting the king in protecting their sacred relic."
How Rick became designated to assist with such a task was beyond you, but there seemed to be a glimmer of slight pride in the fact that he'd be so lucky and privileged as to be near the legendary flower, as well as to the beings who revered it. He was determined to find out the truth behind its properties, and if his hypothesis proved true, then he had a plan. You enjoyed when he was diverted with schemes; not the kind which was evil in nature, but the ones which could end happily or inconclusively. Anyway, you two were discussing how to go about it all.
The discussion had gaps of pause where he'd need to concentrate on bits of wiring that needed to be soldered or bent. Without distraction, you were more aware that it was humid, especially with the garage door being fully open for proper ventilation; bits of your hair stuck to your face and to the back of your neck despite how you'd try to tie it. As annoying as it was, it did have its draw; every so often, you'd catch Rick staring and you'd feel a thrill for it could be a year or ten years, but his shy tendencies would never stop being endearing; why he felt the need to reign himself when you were cool with him checking you out was something you hoped he'd someday become more comfortable with, but for now you'd simply giggle and wink at him to let him know you knew. He did his best to focus on the task at hand, but it wasn't going as well as he had hoped for it happened more than once that you'd have to hand him a tool he was blindly reaching out for. "You wouldn't happen to know who my party companion is," you inquired, as you were tying your hair up for the umpteenth time. "do you? And if you do, can't you change them?"
Giving you that look which always preceded his speeches of why he couldn't do that random illegal thing, he explained with kindly patience. "I could change th-the records, and assign you to someone I know, but that wouldn't be legal."
"I know."
"However," he brightened as he paused his work to face you fully. "I do have a copy of the guest list. Give me a-a moment to pull it up on my computer. Hmm," he wondered more to himself then out loud. "that's odd."
"What is it?"
Drumming his fingertips on his workbench, he double-checked his calculations, then went over and wrote it all out on a chalkboard to be sure. Tapping the freshly used chalk tip to his chin in thought, leaving a little powder on his face, he nodded when it seemed satisfactory. "According to um - to my calculations, it's possible that it's either the Salamandrian chemist, V'gha Khadaka or the Chordatan Knight, Noathamas."
"Is there a correlation between the two?"
"Other than their similar water intake levels, they both enjoy their privacy. However, I'm a-a little stumped as to how it might be possible to be assigned to them both. None of your occupations are similar, neither is there a species similarity, but I'm sure I'll figure it out before the event."
Great, just great. That sort of information wasn't all that helpful, but you pressed a kiss to his cheek to ease the worry which he had been hiding. You wondered if it was too late to back out, but for the most part you were determined to be there for him, even if it meant odd company. "Alright. Um… is there something I should keep in mind before I go dress shopping?"
A quick glance at your current outfit made him smile. You were wearing an old band tee and jeans with so many patches, that they were more patch then jean. "I-I don't think so. Almost anything is fine. Though, y-you might want to avoid plant-based materials in favor of synthetics just in case."
"Okay, I think I can do that, but don't be surprised if I look like I just walked out of a 1980s prom. I'll have you know that being slightly flammable is a dream of mine."
He chuckled at that and patted your shoulder. "Hohoho, I'm sure it'll be fine. You - you always look pretty in whatever you wear."
"If you mean that I'll be so fine, that I'll light up the room with my razzle-dazzle, then you better watch out. You never know who'll be charmed without my knowing."
Now, there had been little to no weight to your phrasing just now, but he felt differently. Giving your shoulders a squeeze, there was a distant, far off look in his eyes that you could only recall from specific occasions. It was a mix of longing, sadness, and regret, but you couldn't pin it on what exactly. It was as though he were trying to convey by sight that there was something he ought to do, that he ought to say, but as quickly as it had appeared, it left and was replaced by acceptance. He pulled away and returned to his previous task while you used a spare computer to begin the search for the perfect dress. He said it'll be fine, and you certainly hoped so.
____________
Adjustments in gravity made you feel as though you could jump in and out of craters as though you were wearing moon shoes; that is until you stepped onto a ship or station, then you felt as though you had fifty pounds tied to each foot. You were grateful for the terrain stabilizers that Rick placed in your flats a few adventures ago, otherwise, you would've already been worn out.
You two arrived a few minutes apart by way of the designated ship which held a variety of guests. To explain, the ship itself was a marvel and a work of beauty as far as intergalactic travel was concerned; its mechanical parts were held together by a compound whose main ingredient was a type of scarlet amber. Piece by piece, it had been crafted by a mixture of living matter and tech so advanced, that it'd have taken 300 years of Earth-based studies to understand a fraction of how one of its panels could work; probably sooner for someone like Rick.
Your eyes trailed the conduits as you were led through hallways that seemed to spiral and spill into larger hallways with varying temperatures and design and you wondered how it was those conduits crossed over and branched off like veins, but you had no time to find out and didn't feel privileged enough to ask as you were led into a cabin. Multiple voices hushed, but resumed to their usual loudness once you had settled into what appeared to be a loveseat with the coloring and texture of a pumpkin; it was your assigned seating, but it was not as soft as you would have liked.
It wouldn't be till later that you'd find out that Rick had traveled in a cabin on level 4 while you had been on level 2. In your cabin was a being composed of pure energy, with a name not spelled in letters but in frequencies, who was one of the musicians. A few feet away, was V'gha Khaḍaka; he was tall, sure-looking, had smooth, striped skin which glistened, and a tail strong enough to break someone's spine in a blink; the good thing was that he hadn't been trained in combat, but was simply a scientist who enjoyed the pursuit of knowledge. And a few feet away from the Salamandrian chemist was the knight Noathamas; he stood at half your height, but his chest was puffed out in such a way that made him appear larger, while his round amber eyes and curly whiskers gave him a soft, cuddly appearance; you had been warned by Rick that his appearance did not reveal much about his character and to watch out for him.
It was uncommon but not unheard of to be assigned multiple party companies as you had been; you were matched up to both V'gha and Noathamas due to your odd chemical makeup. Who would've thought that drinking a La Croix before leaving home would confuse their scanners? Goodness, you were grateful that it was a quick trip, and when it was time to depart the ship, you were escorted by two guards before you were given a helmet; it was nearly invisible except for its indicator light which was shaped like a flower, and it blended in with your dress; a colorful sequin cocktail dress you found on eBay. Not far from you were both your companions, who gave off the impression that they were your entourage rather than dates for the night. You saw Rick from a distance, and you knew he was trying to play it cool, but his eyes were sparkling with affection, although he knew he was supposed to suppress it due to the strict traditions imposed by the royal family; he looked away as he was escorted by six guards, but part of you wished that he hadn't.
You took a deep breath to calm your giddiness; this wasn't the time to allow your emotions to carry you away and affect the mission which was to get through the evening. V'gha could pick up on your subtle changes in body language, and thanks to a universal translator in your helmet, you could understand him. "From what I understand," he commented with a surprisingly smooth, velvety voice. "he's the smartest man in the universe. Is that true?"
"Maybe," you replied nonchalantly, "but he's more than just a brain. I heard he's a great lover. Not really my type," you lied because Zeta-7 suggested that you keep the details of your relationship with him a secret; again for safety, but you thought boasting up his reputation wouldn't hurt. "though, to each his own."
"Do you know him personally?"
When questions like this were thrown at you, it made you wonder about the curious people who meant it to sound nice, but in actuality wanted to test the waters as to how much can they ask so soon. Glancing at your nails, you feigned disinterest. "I'm not sure if I'm allowed to give out that type of information."
"You two are the only humans here." he stated matter of factly. There were humanoid beings but he was right. "It doesn't take rocket science to figure that much out."
"How would you know," you retorted with an air of certainty. "you're not a rocket scientist."
"You're right, I'm not. However, I do dabble into it from time to time. I'm sure he does too. I can smell the exhaust from here."
Hmm, perhaps this event was going to be more interesting than you thought. You shared a look of understanding with the chemist, and thought that perhaps you wouldn't need to be so wary of him; his charisma gave him a charm you hadn't yet decided if it was welcomed or should be ignored; whether his earlier comment was out of egotism or curiosity. And before you could make a comeback, Noathamas commented. "Shall we find our assigned seating and continue from there?"
"Sounds fine. Why don't you two walk ahead," you suggested with a coolness you didn't know you had. "I'll be sure to follow."
When you were sure that they were far enough, you took out your miniature glass terrarium necklace, which held a shrunken sunflower that had an iridescent shimmer on its petals; the one Rick had given you after a memorable date; it was made to remind you of how he saw you and you were very glad it had gone undetected under the scanners you passed through. And in your mind's eye you could still see the glimmer and shine of his electric blue eyes as he had taken in your appearance this afternoon before you two departed Earth; oh how he had wanted to kiss you and hug you but had refrained from doing so in order to double-check if he had all his supplies. His compliments had been many as he drove into the inky blackness of space, but when he parked at the station which was at the midway point, and you two lined up to board the ship which took you to this strange world, his face became neutral; his job made him good at that. You kissed your lovely necklace, replaced it so that it laid underneath your dress collar, and your heart called out to him in the void which was Petram Viridios IV; hoping you wouldn't have to go the through the evening without seeing your beloved again before you made yourself appear neutral and made sure to stay at least six feet apart from everyone in your midst.

Plan from September:
finish all 20 pieces I need to do for various promptlists. work on art every day for at least 3h. all non-sketch pieces need to be at least 70% good before they’re finished ✗ I did eight lol (and def not an average of 3h... ugh)
30min figure drawing at least 15/30 days✓ 19!! somehow
ACTIONABLES: revisit all head construction videos from July✗, fix tangents when I see them✓(mostly?), redo background objects if they look bad✓(mostly), use references when drawing ALL HEADS (even ones at normal angles)✗(but did use more refs, esp. for warmup sketches)
Overview of October:
Extreme Mixed Bag. Had a lot of major concentration/focus issues, but experimented with leaving the majority of detail to the inking stage so I could keep some amount of unpredictabilty (this is the only reason I finished anything this month). Grappling with the fact that my natural drawing mode is very spontaneous and that my art looks way better/lively in doodle form *because* I can make random intuitive decisions without worrying about how they fit the bigger picture.
Getting faster at 'passable' figure sketching with/without reference; naturally fitting figures to background perspective works sometimes. Tried painting over sketch lines instead of hiding them but then ran into Major Difficulties when it came to any area that wasn't the face, probably because I don't really know how to paint that stuff anyway lol
November plan:
Do DAB Lesson 5 (big chunks)
Figure drawing 30min 20/30 days
I plan to spend most of November writing, so that figure drawing is going to be the 'daily art' that keeps me somewhat sharp in the absence of everything else :)
notes and improvements from finished stuff:
urban legend: values are REALLY off (everything is too dark and goes towards black way too quickly - means that there isn't much saturation in shadows)
gothic horror: hux's face looks very... not great. mouth placement in 3d is off. eyes/eyebrow area is fucked. kylo's fingers look flat because I shaded them wrong. i was too lazy to fix the placement of that stained glass in the background and it haunts me (also the left window is really asymmetrical; should have expanded the canvas so I could draw both windows fully.) fabric creases are kinda random. kylo's hair doesn't flow well at all. poses are kinda awkward but oh well
orochimaru birthday: i didn't use reference for anything and it shows (but my brain was in such a state that i wouldn't have gotten it finished if i'd been that detail-oriented). arm/shoulder/back/neck anatomy noticeably lacking. scale on snake scales is kinda off w/ perspective. hands are REALLY halfassed. one loop of snake is thicker at one end in an unrealistic way. poses are very stiff and the hand/arm in the middle is SO boring and stiff and clearly rushed
demon: horns don't occupy 3d space properly (i did try to fix this but just couldn't get my head around it bc they curve forward/back and up/down at the same time). figures don't sit on the ground plane (and aren't in the same perspective as each other). made-up back anatomy again. kylo's sword-holding arm is too short. hux's jacket doesn't fit. more problems with value and everything being too dark. random bits of figures are cut off. kylo's sword handle looks like it's going into hux's back because they're not separated by value or anything. lighting doesn't really make sense. hux's face looks flat
ACTIONABLES: revisit all head construction videos from July, find and draw 5 shoulder/arm/neck/back focussed references, draw ground planes under 5+ minute figures, do greyscale value sketches before adding colour
