Masterlist | Support Me
Home. I hadnât been here in so long. But it feels like a day hasnât passed since I was last here. Thankfully most of the damage from all those years ago has been repaired, only a few spots not looking quite how they use to. Part of me was annoyed Xaden had requested my help and appearances elsewhere, but it needed to be done. And now, after all these years, I was home.
My dragon turns and banks downwards towards the clearing below where a few people await our arrival. I can easily spot Xaden amongst them. Even from here I can tell how much he looks like our father. Gods, I could even mistake him for him if I looked quick enough.
As soon as my dragons feet touch the ground I jump from their back, rushing towards Xaden who is already heading towards me. Immediately he pulls me into his arms and crushes me into a hug. I swear heâd grown again since Iâd last saw him. His head easily resting atop my own. So much for being the little brother.
âYou need to stop growing. Youâre meant to be my little brother.â I joke as I step out of his arms.
He chuckles and shakes his head. âWait till you see Garrick then.â
I go to respond, but as Garrickâs familiar face appears from behind Xaden i stand their shocked. Heâs easily a few inches taller than Xaden. Last time Iâd seen Garrick was just before the rebellion had started, and back then he wasnât that much taller than me. Now I just reached over his shoulder.
âBloody hell. Iâm going to need some heeled boots to stand next to you guys, I donât like this feeling short thing.â Both of them laughing at me.
âDonât worry, Xadenâs girlfriend can make you feel tall.â Garrick teases, earning a glare from Xaden.
âGirlfriend? What happened to Cat? Werenât you engaged to her or something?â Least that was the last Iâd heard from Xaden. Though we didnât really talk about it much.
âDonât get me started about it.â Xaden says with a sigh. âAnd sheâs not my girlfriend. ItâsâŠ. Complicated.â
I shake my head. âWhat did you do?â
âWhat didnât he do.â Garrick jokes before stepping out of Xadenâs reach as he goes to shove him away.
Gods, Iâd missed this. I hadnât been alone while I was away, having a squad of my own who had chosen to pretend to be dead and do anything Xaden and the rebellion needed of us. But nothing beat the feeling of being around the ones you called your family. The ones you loved. The ones you would do anything for. I push down the feeling of sadness that wants to creep its way in. Push down the urge to look over my shoulder at the spot I last saw them that day.
âCome on, let me take you to your room.â Xaden says, ignoring Garrick who is currently chuckling to himself before turning away and walking towards the our home.
I quickly hurry after him despite the fact I know the way without him. We fall into a comfortable silence as we walk together. Neither of us needing to speak as we take in the feeling of being back here together for the first time in a long time.
It was odd walking these halls with Xaden. It felt familiar, but also not at the same time. Last time we both did this we were a lot younger, a lot was different, and a lot more people were alive. The usual commotion of the house no longer there. Least not the commotion I was use to.
Xaden pushes open the door to my bedroom, holding it open for me as I walk past him. Not a single thing had changed. It was exactly as Iâd left it. Except for the bed. Iâd left it in a mess last time I was here. Hopefully who ever made it had also changed the sheets. I hated to think how gross theyâd be after all these years.
âYou doing ok?â Xaden asks after a few moments of me walking around the room.
I nod. âI will be. It just feelsâŠ. Weird. Being back here I mean. Everything is so different now, but this place still looks the same.â
âYou get use to it after a few days. I felt the same when we first got back here properly a few weeks back.â He tells me before a soft knock sounds at the door.
I furrow my brow in confusion, who could be knocking at my door? It canât be Bodhi, he would have just barged in here, pulling me into one of his hugs, which I had a feeling would be a lot more bone crushing than they use to be the last time I saw him. I hated to think how much he had grown since Iâd last seen him if Xaden and Garrick were anything to go by.
âPromise to not get angry.â Xaden says as he looks back at me, as he walks towards the door.
âWhy would I-â
My words die on my tongue as Xaden opens the door revealing who had knocked. The same curly auburn hair, shaven on the sides just as I remember. Same amber coloured eyes, now just with a few lines at the edges. Same indent from where his dimple sits when he smiles. All I can do is stand here and look at him.
Thereâs no fucking way heâs there. I have to be hallucinating. He canât be here. I watched him die. Watched Naolin try to save him. Watched Naolin kill himself trying to save him. He steps into the room, nodding at Xaden in greeting who nods back as if this is normal. Why is Xaden not shocked like I am? How does Xaden even know him? What the hell is going on?
Iâm jolted from my thoughts as Xaden steps out of the room and closes the door behind him, leaving Brennan and I alone for the first time in years. Brennan cautiously walks towards me, almost like heâs approaching a dragon during threshing.
âHi.â He says as he stops a few feet away from me, fidgeting with his hands ever so slightly.
âHi? After all these years of making me think youâre dead, all you say is hi?â I say harshly, watching as he swallows nervously.
âI didnât really know what else to say. How to explain whatâs happened.â
âHow about starting with how to hell youâre alive?â I snap at him.
âRight, that might be a good place to start.â He says quietly before walking over to the bed and sitting on the edge, resting his arms on his knees as he leans forward and looks down at his hands. âWhatever Naolin did worked. Clearly not straight away, but it worked somehow.â
âLeast he didnât die for nothing.â I add, Brennan nodding in agreement. âHave you been here this whole time?â
Part of me wants him to say no, to make this a little easier. But as I look over at him and meet his gaze I already know the answer.
âYes. The rebellion took me in, healed me and looked after me. All without knowing who I was. And when youâre brother came back, he put me in a leadership position, help run things while he was at Basgiath.â
All this time Brennan had been the one calling the shots in Xadenâs absence. Keeping everything running while Xaden couldnât. Heâd been the one giving me my orders and updates.
âLieutenant Colonel Aisereigh. Thatâs you isnât it?â I ask, even though I know the answer.
Yet again he nods. I shake my head in disbelief, racking my head for any sign or hint that it was him in those letters. But I know there wasnât. Otherwise I would have picked up on it. Seen something that hinted it was him.
âTrust me when I say I wanted to tell you.â He says as he stands and walks over to me. âSo many times I wanted to give you some sort of hint that would make you realise. But I couldnât risk it.â
I take a step back and avert my gaze. Heâs right. I hate that heâs right. But it doesnât stop the hurt. The betrayal Iâm feeling. Even though thereâs a larger part of me that wants to jump into his arms and never let go. Even though it had been years, there was a part of me that could never get over him.
âI get it. I understand.â I say, trying to hide the hurt in my voice.
I gasp as he reaches out and grasps my hand in his and pulls me towards him. I try to pull away but he just grips my hand tighter, his other hand coming to rest on my hip. I keep my eyes lowered, focusing on one of the buttons of his jacket.
âMo ChroĂ, look at me. Please.â He pleads as he pulls me closer.
I canât help but look up at him as he addresses me with the Tyrrish phrase he use to use all those years ago. The same one my father would use when I was little. As my eyes meet his, he smiles down at me, his dimple becoming more obvious at the movement.
âThere she is.â He whispers, his hand letting go of mine as he cups my cheek.
Iâm not sure what comes over me, but I grasps his jacket in my hands and pull him down to me. His breath hitches, warm against my skin as his face hovers just inches from mine. For a moment, time slows. The sound of our breathing fills the space between us, and I can feel his heartbeat racing beneath the layers of fabric.
He opens his lips, but I silence his words by pressing my lips to his. The world falls away, and all that remains is the heat of the kiss, the way his hands move hesitantly to my waist, then quickly righten as if heâs afraid to let me go. Afraid to lose this moment. I donât know if this is right, or if Iâll regret this later, but right now, none of it matters. Right now, heâs here and alive, and so am I, and thatâs enough.
I loosen my grip on his jacket, reaching up to push the material from his body, Brennan manoeuvring his arms to let the clothing fall to the floor. I feel his eyes on me, his presence commanding every inch of space between us. I can feel the heat radiating from him, an intoxicating warmth that wants to draw me in.
âAre you sure?â His voice is low, husky, and laced with something that feels like both desire and restraint.
I now, swallowing hard, my own voice barely above a whisper as I grasp the bottom of his shirt in my hands. âYes.â
My heart races as I fumble to pull the material up his torso, Brennan releasing me from his grasp to reach down and pull the fabric from his own body. I donât know what I expected him to look like, but it wasnât this. With the material now gone, it reveals the sharp lines and smooth planes of his chest, freckles dotted here and there from training outdoors more than likely.
Brennan reaches out and pushes my jacket from my arms, throwing the clothing to the corner of the room before quickly grabbing my shirt in his hands and pulling it up my body. His lips capture mine again, this time tentative as though testing the waters. But the second I respond, threading my fingers through his hair and pulling him closer, something shifts. The kiss deepens, a fire igniting between us, burning away any common sense or anger I had left.
I push him back towards my bed, Brennan stumbling backwards as his knees hit the edge, grabbing my hips and pulling me into his lap, my legs sitting either side of his as I straddle him. I can feel the heat of his breath against my skin as his lips trail down my jawline, grazing the sensitive spot just below my ear, sending shivers cascading down my spine.
âGods, Iâve missed you.â He mumbles against my skin as he kisses down my neck causing me to arch into his touch, a moan escaping my lips.
He turns his head back up to me, his lips ghosting over mine as the door to my room swings open.
âYou better not have killed my-â Xaden starts as he walks into the room, stopping in his tracks as he sees me straddling Brennan on my bed, both of us half dressed.
Seconds tick by as he just stands there and looks at us as we both stare back.
âWell least you havenât killed him.â He says with a smirk.
I growl at him before grabbing the closest thing to me, which happens to be a pillow, hurling it towards him as he dodges it with ease as he closes the door behind him, his laughter echoing in the hallway.
âLeast you donât look like you want to murder me anymore.â Brennan mumbles against my jaw as he presses soft kisses along it in an effort to get my attention back to him.
âDonât push your luck.â

Augh wait, completely non Canon but I just had an idea for like, if the cats were actually kids
_-_-_-_-_-_
'I have an important message for you'
The message is followed by a three minute audio.
Finally, after hours of scrubbing through months and months of massages between Sapnap and his old family, they finally found something about his mission to infiltrate Team Mafia.
(Shadoune swears Sapnap wasn't on his phone this much. How did he find the time to text these two so much? How many times do you need to text someone a reminder to eat in one day??)
The phone is already connected to a speaker so they can all hear everything without having to circle around it, so there's only hesitante stopping them from pressing play.
This is what Sapnap was sent here to do. This spells out exactly the ways he was ordered to betray them.
Shadoune presses play.
"Hi Dad! Hiiiiiiiii" Two children voices come from the speaker, "We miss you lotssss!! I got the tiara you sent me! Me and Patches are matching now, we look like sisters!"
"Of course we do, we are sisters stupid."
Another child's voice sounds out, a little father away and a little deeper
One of the first two kids giggles, and there's a shuffle before the other's voice sounds again
"When are you coming back home? Pops and Papa say we should take down the Christmas decorations, but I like them!! Milo don't steal the phone! I'm asking Dad when he's coming home! Oh yeah... Dad we miss you a lot, will you be done with work soon?"
"You two..."
There's two tiny sad sighs
"We know... Be careful Dad, we love you lots! You need to tell us all the cool work stories when you get home! Yeah, we need like, 5 whole bed time stories when you come back! Love you bye! Byeeeeeeeee-"
The audio ends. There's pure silence in the room, a variation of shell-shocked faces all around. Serpias looks a little teary, and no one is quick enough to grab him before he rushes off, thankfully up to his room instead of to the basement.
"Creo..." Rich starts awkwardly, "Creo que eso es suficiente por hoy."
_-_-_-_-_-_-_
Honestly Serpias would probably run straight to Sapnap, but if anyone ever brought up his kids while he was in the basement he would murder them with his bare hands and I didnt know how to write that right now so... Serpias! To your room!
Serpias beloved đ„ș
He just wants the best for Sapnap always and forever....
Serpias after going through every crisis and still not thinking straight, he makes a quick pitstop, shoving something in his pocket before going down to the basement in the dead of night.
Sapnap is actually awake with Dream this time. And when they see Serpias enter... Eyes bloodshot, sniffling, overall looking terrible.....well. Sapnap is beyond worried. He grabs Dream's arms tightly. He doesn't know what Serpias is gonna say.
"Lo siento."
It's quiet. Could barely hear it over his sniffling.
Sapnap thinks they're going to die.
Dream asks what's wrong. Tone dangerously grave.
"You....have children..."
Dream will tense. But Sapnap will be on his feet. Hands already gripping Serpias' shirt collar and slamming him against the door
"What happened with them?"
Serpias has never heard Sapnap so serious, so frightening. It's actually the first time he's heard Sapnap speak on his own without Dream.
Sapnap will scream in Serpias' face asking what happened. Threatening to make his death and everyone else's in this house slow and painful if they laid a finger on them. His eyes are wild. The kind of insane he's only witnessed watching Sapnap in the ring and taking down an opponent.
This is life or death to Sapnap he realizes.
George is waking up from the noise as Sapnap continues to yell and slam his head against the door. What happened. WHAT HAPPENED!
"NADA! SAPNAP HICIMOS NADA!"
Serpias can barely get it out. He feels dizzy. He might be bleeding.
"Then why are you sorry." Sapnap's cold tone hurts Serpias' more than scares him. Never wanting Sapnap to hate him ever. But he knew this would happen. Expected to be more than half dead by this point.
"For taking you away from them....They are alone..."
It's quiet again.
"Why are you saying this?" It's Dream. His tone is cold and calculating, something Serpias is familiar to. Welcomes it even. Something to focus on that isn't Sapnap's hatred.
"Para escaparé." He produces the keys in his pocket. They're for a car.
And Sapnap let's him go. Serpias feels really dizzy without the support now. The headache so overwhelming, he can't help close his eyes. He's out cold before he falls over.
When he wakes up he's in the infirmary with Farfa at the side of his bed. He can feel the headache of a concussion, the back of his head pounding. He notices the bandages wrapped around his head.
"Se fueron."
Serpias jumps at Farfa's voice. But once the words register, despite the incredible pain, he can't help but be relieved.
#ehm aus#ehm asks#mafia mafia au#i feel like everything changes DRASTICALLY when actual children are involved.#yes the cats are dteam's babies and they WILL kill anyone who hurts them#but they are cats who will not terribly suffer from being in a crime family.#in my head the children arr kept so safe and while they know their dads do dangerous thing they arent exactly exposed to it#team mafia learning about them is Dream's worst case scenario and I think in this hypothetical he is a billion times more stressed out#i think sapnap would have way less anxiety as well if he had two kids....being a parent changes you a lot

Azriel x Reader: The Bond of a Century
An old request that I decided to revamp
Request prompt: Can I request an Azriel x reader where the mating bond snaps for Azriel but not the reader? Kind of like how Feyra didnât know Rhys was her mate till she was told.
My prompt: A bond forgotten for over a century and a half makes its way back to the forefront. All of it starts with Rhys asking for a favor.
This is a fluffy, steamy, angst-ish fic
I hope you enjoy!!!! My requests are open!!!
____________________________
This was the last thing you thought you would be doing for Rhys. Out of all the things, this-this is what he chose for you to do. Rhys had a sick twisted mind that put you in a situation you had no desire of being in or a part of. You mentally cursed at the high lord, hating him in the moment even though he was your dearest friend. Elain scoured the city for certain pots for her plants, and certain seeds for her garden. Azriel right by her side and you trailing behind them. All you wanted to do was to go back to your home near the docks. It was the first home you had when you first moved from Dawn to Velaris less than a century ago, but with some convincing Rhys and Feyre were able to get you to stay at the town house. It was only then did her sisters arrive, and at some point you were put to the task of keeping an eye on Elain with the occasional visit of Az. Honestly you wished you could train with Nesta, but Cassian was chosen for that task. You wouldnât have minded living in the house of wind-â I think I need to go to Day Court or maybe Spring, Oh perhaps we can go to Dawn instead. They must have better pots.â Elain speaks more to Azriel than she does you. You were eyeing the various shops, and the people delighted to be around you, each grinning and waving at you. Another beautiful thing about Velaris youâd come to love. People were kind here.
Azriel smiled softly at her â Of course, if thatâs what you wantâ his voice was tender and sweet. You fought the urge to roll your eyes, turning your attention elsewhere. You hated being there dealing with this shit, but Rhys insisted you tag along, âItâs good for the soul. Get some fresh airâ with that insane cat-like smirk. Ooo you shoot daggers into your mind, a deep chuckle echoing in the background.
â Yes thatâs what I want, thank you Azâ Elain returned the gesture.
â Alright then Iâll let Rhys and Feyre know-â You say as you pinched a flower petal between your thumb and index finger. You looked away from it then back at them. The two watched you with curiosity, you let go of the petal. It was no simple task, an easy reminder of what you needed to do and a simple approval came from Rhys. A gentle poke in your mind causes you to shake your head.â-Let's get this over withâ You take steps towards them placing your hands on their arms you effortlessly winnow the three of you to Dawn. The landing was gentle and less sickening, the three of you placed in a Market, one that you were familiar with.. Elain squealed with excitement as she rushed over to an area where she had seen fresh flowers, a few shops down could be seen a pottery shop, the two of you already trailing her.
â Look at this beautiful bouquet! Y/N? Should we get this for the town house?â She gestures to the bouquet filled with many vibrant colors, various shapes and sizes. You were stumped, she normally doesnât ask you these questions most of the time they were directed at Az.
âThey look lovely Elain, Iâm sure theyâll fit anywhere you put them..â You replied not really sure how to respond. Honestly youâve never really thought about what flowers you liked or didnât . It wasnât something that was ever given to you, nor something you found and immediately fell in love with. You didnât have anything against anyone who knew what they liked, you just-never had the experience of looking forward to your own set of plants. Even when you first attempted gardening most of your plants and flowers died, you simply didnât have the skill or the eye for it..but that was okay, though on rare occasions it was something you wished you had..
Elain smiles awkwardly â Well, maybe we can get it, it might brighten up the home. Make it seem more natural..comfortableâ She pulls out her coins, handing it to the shopkeeper. The three of you move further heading over to the pottery shop that she explained earlier how she wanted to visit. Your eyes searched the area, checking for predators, anyone who might cause harm to the high ladyâs sister, before entering the shop. You had other plans that you needed to attend to while the two looked around, it was in the midst of Elains discussion, mostly to Azriel about the various styles of pottery, that you planned to sneak off. It was only then did a voice capture your attention from behind you.
â Y/N, I must admit I never pegged as you someone who might be interested in potteryâ Thesan, high lord of Dawn, speaks out, the entire shop haunting their work to bow at his presence. He waved his hand dismissing them easily back to work. Azriel positions himself so that he stands near you with Elain behind him, she peers her head out, trying to see who it was that spoke so elegantly. A small smile graces your features at that familiar voice you knew so well as you shifted to face Thesan, who was already grinning. Azriel didnât miss it, taking note of it.
âWhat if I was?â You retorted,
â Then that would be a surpriseâ
âI hate to burst your bubble High Lord but Iâm here on business not for pleasureâ You replied, the two of you sharing a small laugh together. Azriel forced his expression into neutrality, Elains eyes sparkled with curiosity and intrigue. Thesan looks behind you for a moment, taking in the Shadowsinger and the woman next to him.
â Ouch, that one hurt Y/N, I see you brought friends, Shadowsingerâ Thesan greets civilly no hate present.
â Thesan,â Azriel gives a simple head nod in his direction, there was no need for malice, Thesan had always been a great friend of Rhysâs and now apparently yours. Though a feeling crept inside his chest, this odd feeling takes root, Azriel does his best to shove it away, especially with Elain right next to him..
â And you must be Elain, one of the sisters of High Lady Night.â
â Yes I am. Itâs a pleasure to meet youâ Elain smiles with a blush that creeps along her cheeks. She wasnât sure how to respond being that a high lord, whom she never met knew she existed. The surrealness of the situation becomes a reality, the more she realizes how well known her sister is, how well known both of her sisters are including herself. A delighted yet astonishing experience for her, something she wasnât used to yet.
â Same to you, i hope you donât mind if I borrow Y/N for a moment or two, thereâs somethings Iâd like to discussâ Thesan offered but secretly it was a meeting that needed to take place. You were in fact here on business, something that Rhys specifically shared with you and no one else. Dawn used to be your home, but when you were moved to Velaris, you became the seg way for Dawn and Night. Your job was to be the emissary for both sides, keeping the courts relationship in even better shape. You missed your home dearly at times, and you missed Thesan whom you were extremely close too, and who you cared about, even with this being only for business there was some pleasure that came out of it.
â No of course not, Iâm sure she could use a break from us, right Azriel?â Elain looks up to him but his eyes were trained on you and Thesan. You were ready to join him without so much as another word, it struck a nerve in him, why? What could possibly be the topic of conversation between you two? Why do you only need to speak with him? Surely Rhys wouldâve told him what this meeting was about? Why hadnât you come to him for advice or as a second set of ears? Why was the meeting a secret?-âAzriel?âElain calls out to him, you were looking at him suspiciously, your eyebrows furrowed, your eyes flickering across every part of his face and bodily language. Azriel adjusts himself, shielding off whatever thoughts or feelings he harbored in the moment. He blinks, his eyes drift back to Elain then back to you and Thesan â Go ahead, weâll be here in the shop if you need us, we leave in about two hoursâ
â Alright then I will have my men escort the two of you back to my palace.â Thesan replied, You eased the questioning look off your face, you shift back towards Thesan, the two of you walking out of the shop, the conversation immediately flowed. He could see the smile on your face, and yet again the melodic sound of laughter that left your lips. The high lords' guards remained in place while Azriel and Elain both continued their shopping. However, that didnât stop him from taking one last look out the door.
When the two hours were up, Azriel and Elain were guided securely to the Palace where heâd find you and Thesan walking along the hall. Thesan stopped in his tracks grabbing your arm, it forces you to halt in place, your body halfway facing him. His mouth moves but Azriel canât hear what heâs saying, he lifts a hand to your face gently swiping at your cheek. He removes his hand, pulling you gently into a tight embrace. Azriel could see the way you held onto him tightly, as if you dared to let go. The two of you stayed in that position for a few moments until you both eventually pulled away. Why were you crying? Were you hurting? Were they happy tears? Did he say something to you? What was it? There were too many emotions to pinpoint, Azrielâs chest continued to tighten at the emotions he felt. You left Thesans' side offering him one last smile, but that smile fades, when you approach them.
âItâs time, are you ready?â You ask softly, your demeanor changed, a bit relaxed but a heavy weight stays on your shoulders. You roll them back, adjusting yourself. Azriel watches you with such careful eyes, you paid no mind, your thoughts elsewhere.
â Yes-â Elain starts but her gaze flickers back and forth between you both. For Elain it was rather odd to see the two of you interact, when she had met you, your relationship with Azriel was already thin, you were distant with him compared to everyone else. Elain assumed that your relationship had always been like that, but now she wasnât so sure..
â Are you alright?â Azriel asks you, his hand twitches slightly, part of him restrains himself, the other yearned to reach out for you. But you were quick to recover, offering him a reassuring smile.
â Yeah Iâm fine, letâs go.â You placed your hands on both of them, winnowing them back to the town house. There Nuala and Cerridwen greeted the three of you. Nuala took the pots out of Elains hands, Cerridwen took the flowers and placed them in another vase. Elain begins gushing about the journey to Dawn, how gorgeous it was..You sighed exhausted leaving the space quietly to head to your own room. Azriel was about to follow you when Elain called for his help in the kitchen. Azriel hesitated staring up at the staircase. Why couldnât he just talk to you? Heâs a Shadowsinger, a spymaster, and he can pry details out of anyone but you. All he can feel is your emotions-your emotions... Elain had pulled Azriel from his thoughts as she hugged a pot to herself.
âAz? Are you coming?â She says as she waits for him to follow her to the garden. Again he hesitates but he feels a stirring in his chest. Azriel lifts up a hand instinctively touching it, a sharp sensation could be felt beneath his chest. It couldnât be? Could it? Azrielâs eyes widen, Elain takes a breath â Iâll be outside Az when youâre ready-â Azriel moves his feet faster than his mind could process, he was out of the town house door, his wings pushing him off the ground shooting him into the sky, he needing some time to think..
___
The moons at its highest peak, your curtains flowing with gentle breeze that filtered through your bedroom. The candles and lights burnt out signaling that you were asleep, that was until you heard a creak in the floorboard, and the atmosphere changed, a darker presence filled the space. You were lying on your stomach, your hands slipping beneath the pillow as you grip the handle of the blade youâve hidden beneath it. You felt the figure stop just before your bed frame, you could hear them bend down towards your face. As they reached for you, you swiftly reached out a free hand grabbing them, you flipped them onto the bed, rolling over pinning them down with your blade tucked against their neck in the most vulnerable area.
â Itâs only meâ He whispers, the lights in the room reaching a dim hue, illuminating the area.
â Jeez Az, I couldâve killed youâ You replied tiredly, you pulled back the blade placing it on the end table. Azrielâs eyes followed your movement above him, your hips and legs straddling him, your hair in an unruly nature, from slumber. The candles hue amidst the room, caresses your face, your bare legs, your skin making it appear warm to the touch. You had worn a tunic that wasnât yours, it hugged loosely around your body frame. The tunic looked oddly familiar to Azriel but then again he wasnât so sure. All he wanted to do was rip whoevers tunic that belonged to, off of your body and replace it with his.
âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to startle you-â He apologizes,â-I have one question Iâd like to ask youâ Azriel whispers, as he watches your facial expression twitch into a sleepy confusion.
âThis couldnât wait till morning?â You sighed as your hand moved to rub the sleep from your face. You remove yourself from him, you slip off the bed but not before Azriel caught your wrist. He shifts himself so that he sits up lifting himself off the bed. He towers over you, the candle's glowing light touches his features in a way that it could come off intimidating, but there was a more intimate, soft, texture that made him appear more angelic.
â No Iâm afraid not.â He admits.
You nod your headâ Whatâs your question?â
â How long have you known about the bond?âAzrielâs voice low, as if to test the waters but enough to plunge himself. He needed answers and after speaking with Rhys, it was his right.
â What?â Your face dropped, your skin becoming clammy as nervousness passes through you, sleepiness evades you.
â You heard me, answer the questionâ his eyes switch between both of yours, searching and evaluating. He tried to pinpoint every emotion you felt, he tried to feel you through, the only thing stopping him was- you.
â It's not that simple-â You shook your head, pulling your wrist out of his hold. You werenât prepared for this, you werenât ready to unravel all that you worked so hard to ignore.
â It is that simpleâ Azriel continued to pry, he didnât need the bond to notice how uncomfortable and painful this topic was for you-it was news to him, he wanted the truth..no lies no games only the truth
â No, itâs not. Itâs complicated-â You looked away from him moving to the other side of the room. You couldn't find the words to explain this situation, your reasoning. What if what you told him set him off? What if this ruins everything between your friendships? The alliance that has been created? So many thoughts and questions, never enough answersâŠbut for Azriel you did have an answer to his question..
â Complicated enough for you to leave.â It was then that feeling in your chest, it builds a thick pressure. A heavyweight on your shoulders, the air almost sucked out your lungs. â Is that what you told Rhys when you were packing your bags?â You couldnât breathe, Azrielâs footsteps followed you till he was right behind you. You faintly feel the pulse of his surprise and his anger, as if it was your own, but it had been so long since youâd tapped into the bond. You had spent a century ignoring it, shielding it, and now, it was muscle memory..
â Donât make me do this..â You whispered out, a silent plea to move on, to let this go.
â You knew, and yet you decided not to tell meâ His voice held a deep frustration, a deep want and need. He wasnât going to give up, he had a way with finding out the truth..
â Thatâs-not what happened..â You were again stumped with words, torn between giving in or lying, torn between running away or staying..
â No? Then what happened?â He continues to look down at you, you refuse to meet his gaze. Azriel doesnât take no for an answer moving towards the front. He stands in front of you. His smell, his faint emotions from the bond slowly consuming you. It surrounds you, his shadows dance along the edges of the room, waiting, watching, whispering.
â Az-â You warned him, it was another weak attempt to fight him off. But he continued to poke, to pull, to pry, to grasp at anything youâd give him. You were tired, exhausted, hiding your emotions, your thoughts, your protected heart and mind bound to collapse, all secrets were meant to escape..
â I want the truth, Y/N-â. You took a deep breath, your nerves running a mile a minute. His own anxiousness was replaced with a demanding thirst for the truth. A truth that belonged to him too. Youâve kept this wonderful secret to yourself, he watched as his own family found mates that paired well with them. Watching as their life finds the pieces to the puzzle it was missing. Deep down he wanted that very same thing. He felt as though he may not deserve it but he craved it, to be loved unconditionally⊠â-You owe me that muchâ
You sighed, your heart shattering, you gave in, you really hadnât planned too but the look in his eyes-, â..Before Amarantha began her reign, Rhys made an offer to Thesan to let me stay in Velaris, as an emissary between the courts. It was then that I found out that we were mates⊠It was then that the deal was made.â
âAll these years and you kept this to yourself, why?â His eyebrows furrowed.
â Because I knew you were in love with Mor. I wasnât going to take that from you. But I did wait for you, I waited a long time. But when it became an achingly slow desperation, I gave up. I practiced silencing the bond, so I couldnât feel the emotions you felt when you were around other-women..romantically and lustily I mean. Then Elain came around and it was the same process. Iâm exhausted, Azriel. I canât keep doing thisâ
â You didnât bother to try! Youâre running back home because you never thought to ask how I mightâve felt!â His jaw tenses, his head slightly tilted to the side, his frustration grows, at this notion of forcing the information out of you, when you shouldâve let it happen, when you shouldâve told him..
â I didnât because I wanted you to come to your own conclusion. I wanted it to be as natural as possible but you were so invested in Mor and Elain and Iâm not one to take you away from that. But I also miss the people I care about, I miss my old home-Itâs time for me to go-â You protested.
â What does Rhys think of this?â Azriel jaw twitches.
â He was the one who encouraged me to speak with Thesan-â
â Is that what the discussion was between the two of you?â He presses.
â Yes but-â You attempt to defend yourself.
â Y/N, what exactly did you say to him?â Azriel wanted every detail, every version of this story, of his story, of his mates-his mate.
â I didnât- I didnât say anything. I asked if I could return home, and he told me that I should stay here, that if I truly wanted to come home then heâd considered it.â Your heart leaps into your throat, you swallow it back, the feeling collecting.
â His answer wasnât even a Yesâ Azrielâs scoffs shaking his head, his hands on his hips as he looks at the floor and then away at the window.
â Yes- but itâs my decision-â You looked up at him, watching his movements carefully.
â No itâs not, youâre not going back there.â He challenged, his eyes find their way back to yours.
â You canât decide that.â You tell him, the two of you hurting by the weight of your decision. Azrielâs own heart squeezes painfully, at how easy it was for you to say those words to him. You were his, he wasnât going to let you just walk away, not without fighting for you.
â Why not? Youâd already decided to keep this to yourself regardless of how I feltâ He takes a step forward his arms falling back down to his side.
â Azriel please listen to me-â You tried to reason, you tried to find a way to break through, he wasnât thinking straight, you werenât thinking straight, neither one of you.
â No you listen, all those years, all those centuries, you were my friend, and you were someone who loved me. Loved me enough to sacrifice what you felt so I could find happiness. In the depths of my mind I have fought and searched for you without realizing that you were here in front of me..I was too blind to see it. â His hands flew to your face, your jaw, cupping it, his thumbs grazing your cheekbones. Your hands follow suit as your fingers grip his wrists. His shadows remove themselves from the dark corners of your room, shooting out to tangle around your wrists, not to pull your hands away but to hold you there in place. â Please donât run from meâ He whispers, his forehead dipping down to rest on yours. His hands slide from your cheeks to the sides of your neck.
â Az-I canât stayâ You replied quietly, your hands pulling at his wrists weakly at his. You both knew that you could take him down easily, but at this moment in time the two of you were struggling. The tension grew thick in the air. A sort of sharp feeling intensifies, the faded familiarity that was the bond, solidifies. You thought that you had successfully mastered the art of blocking the bond but no. Azriel mustâve truly accepted it, a different feeling takes over, Azriel hums at the feeling. You sucked in a breath.
â You canât leave without knowing Iâve accepted the bondâ His nose brushes against yours. You shook your head once more, completely pushed Azriel away. Your hands fly to your head, your fingers tangling in your hairs. You wanted nothing more than to curl into yourself, this was too surreal, too overwhelming. Youâd spent so long, alone, and working, on occasions waiting. Now you were uncertain, even more than you had been hours ago. Azriel could feel your indecisiveness, he just needed to bring you back to him.
Azriel followed you, he pulled your hands from your hair, one of them he placed on his chest, his heart beating beneath it, you couldnât look at him. But you could feel the gentleness, the love that flowed through him into you. â My heart, my soul belongs to youâ he tries again. You could feel your body sag at the feeling of comfort. It was so intense and welcoming. You wanted to wrap yourself in it-but you fought it, you were so used to the fighting, the restraint, the self control. âLet goâ His voice reaches into the depths of your mind, into your soul, calling out to you.
You placed your forehead on his chest, your hand leaving the area above his heart. Azrielâs wings moved to surround you, his shadows moved to get to you, tangling themselves in your hair, caressing your face and hands. They speak to you wishing you nothing but love and happiness. They bring you comfort, your eyes fluttering shut.
â Y/Nâ Azriel calls out. You could feel his hands cupping your face once more tilting it upwards, his breath light. You could feel how close he was, Azriel was right there, all he needed to do-Azâs lips crashed down onto yours, so soft, and yet his kiss held all his desperation, his passion. He couldnât hold back, not with you, not when he loved you so. You werenât surprised, in fact you hadnât realized how much you yearned for his touch, his kiss. Azriel turns his head to the side deepening the kiss, a quiet moan slips out. By the cauldron Azriel loved to hear that sound, he wanted to hear it again, and again, and again. For as long as he lived and breathed.
You were putty in his hands, the feeling of his touch, his thoughts, his emotions was putting you in overdrive. Your mind couldnât comprehend nor catch up to the pace in which things were happening. Azriel lets go of your lips for a brief moment, allowing you a chance to breathe, a whimper and the need for air also escapes your lips. Azriel had to fight the urge to keep himself from taking you right then and there. You had the urge to let him do it, you placed your hands on his chest pushing him back a step. You couldnât think with him in your space, Azriel wasnât going to budge, but with the way you were so caught up and caught off guard, he let you take a second.
âOkay-â You breathed out. Azrielâs eyes light up, a smile threatens to break out. â I-um-â You cleared your throat,âUh-I-I accept the bond..â you whispered the last part. Azrielâs heart gave a squeeze of joy, his chest filled with lightness, with happiness and relief. All he had ever hoped for had finally come to fruition. A twinkle of mischief sparks in his eyes, a smirk finds its way onto his beautiful features.
â What was that?â He asks, yet you squint your eyes at him, you know he heard, he knows he heard you, but he wanted you to say it again. â-I didnât quite hear youâ You bit the inside of your cheek still squinting at him. You sighed, your body began to relax, your facial expressions changing to that of a sheepishness. You were struggling to admit it, Azriel waited for you patiently.
â I-â
â Yes?â
â Azâ You raised your eyebrows at him, as if to say Iâm trying here.
â Iâm sorry, please go on.â He encourages you.
You sighed as you tried again this time â I accept the bond-â You are much more confident and certain. âIâve loved you since Iâve known you. You were right, my heart and soul belongs to you-âAzriel couldnât contain himself much longer as took you into his arms and spun you around. A victorious grin graced both of your features, and for once the weight of the world didnât feel so heavy in your chests. You gave a light hearted giggle, your heart swooning. Azriel places you back on the ground. You smiled brightly, the twinkle reaching your eyes. âThis is happening?â You asked out loud, you searched for clarification.
â Yeah it isâ Azriel let go grabbing your hand pulling you towards the window. You tilted your head to the side, a sweet smile on your lips, a playful yet teasing expression stretches onto Azrielâs face. âDo you trust me?â his hand extends outward.
â Yes.â You lift your hand to place it into his, this time a new height sense fills both your bodies. The touch feels like a loving hum on your skin. Your minds, your souls, finally resting after all the searching that it had done. You place your hand in his, he guides you out of the window onto the terrace of the town house. You followed him blindly, willingly. Azriel stood taller in the moonlight, and the stars above shining, his shadows nowhere to be found, it was just him. â Az wait- Elain-â
âShe knows, and Iâm sure she will be upset with me, but she has Lucien..She doesnât need me.â He nods. You watch him closely, as you slowly lift a hand to caress his cheek, the touch sweet and warming. Azriel instinctively leans into your touch, turning his head slightly to kiss the palm of your hand.
â Iâm sorryâ You whispered, you realized that you may have ruined a friendship for him, a little bit more than a friendship..
â No Iâm sorryâ he replies as he takes you back into his arms, the sounds of the city's music playing amongst the trees, the flowers, the plants, the night sky seeming more inviting, more alive. All Azriel knew was in this moment in time he finally understood the accept of the bond, the waiting, the calling, you had always been there waiting for him, you gave him time, space, anything he needed to figure himself out..All those times he spent with other women- then it dawned on him, had you done the same? You chuckled upon feeling that jealous emotion. â Whoâs tunic are you wearing?â
â Az, itâs yoursâ
â What-â You peel yourself out of his arms.
â This tunic you let me borrow on a mission we had, remember? Court of nightmares? I was stuck in a brothel, I ended up fighting my way out, my clothes were completely shredded?â You offered bits and pieces of the memory, Azrielâs takes a moment to recollect and it hits him.
â Yes I remember, you ate a bowl of soup that night at one of the hostels. You hated it,â He chuckled as he remembered the disgusted look on your face. You laughed alongside him. You moved to head back towards your room but Azriel was quick to catch your hand.
âWhere are you going?â
âUm-to make you something, we still have to seal the bond.â
â Not hereâ
â Then where?â Azriel grins as he throws one of your arms around his neck, one catches your back the other catches your knees.
â Somewhere private, where I can have you all to myself, no distractions, just you and meâ He whispers to you, his face dipping closer to yours, you sucked in a small breath, the blood beneath your skin singing, practically humming. His arms tightened their hold on you pressing you as flush to him as possible. Azriel looks away and upwards towards the night sky, his wings strong as they help push the two of you off the ground. Excitement filled the air, the night, seemed sweeter, less stuffy, inviting. You guessed that Thesan was right for making you stay here, to reconsider, you were thankful that he pointed you back in the direction of your mate. Azriel was happy that his brother fought for his love, fought for him to find happiness. It was more than just two courts keeping a civil peace, it was about two souls that needed to find each other, even if it takes a century.

Between the lines
Lando Norris x Law student!reader
A/N: ok amma just act like i didnât ghost this app for months and came out if nowhere but here we are ig. Also the Brazilian gp??? What the heck like wild race istgđ
It all started one night in Monaco, on a break from law school. You were on vacation with a friend, celebrating the rare freedom that came with a brief pause in your intense study schedule. A night at the casino was not usually your scene, but your friend had insisted.
After about an hour, sheâd struck up a flirtatious conversation with some guy whoâd been lingering by the bar. You waved her off, telling her youâd be fine, and took a seat on your own near a roulette table.
Thatâs when he walked up. Unassuming at first, with that messy hair and a slightly cocky smile that had âtroubleâ written all over it.
âMind if I join you?â he asked, a hint of an accent in his voice.
You shrugged, amused. âGo for it. But Iâm not particularly good at this.â
He chuckled. âNeither am I.â
You exchanged a few more jokes, but it didnât take long for him to introduce himself, giving you his number in a smooth, unhurried way.
âLando,â he said, his eyes glinting with mischief.
You stashed the number away without much thought. It was only the next day, when you mentioned the encounter to your little sister over FaceTime, that you realized who he actually was.
âSome guy named Lando gave me his number at the casino,â youâd said offhandedly. Her jaw dropped.
âWait, Lando who??.â
You blinked, stunned, and then laughed. âI donât know, apparently heâs famousâ
âso itâs lando fucking norris whatâ she said wide eyed
She rolled her eyes, muttering, âOnly my sister would be this oblivious to F1 drivers. Iâve been a die-hard fan since I was, like, ten, and you meet one without even knowing?â
From there, you let yourself get to know him, intrigued by how normal he seemed compared to the hype youâd suddenly realized surrounded him. When he asked you out, you thought, why not? You were used to focusing on your studies and keeping your personal life private, so it didnât seem like much would change. But with Lando, everything was different.
-
Months later, youâd fallen into an unexpected but steady rhythm with Lando. Despite his career, he managed to keep things low-key. Neither of you posted much about each other. Hell, you barely posted anything at all. You were still a law student with a private life, and the last thing you wanted was for the whole world to know who you were dating.
One evening, you were lying on his couch, scrolling through your phone, when Lando turned to you with a sly grin.
âBabe, you know⊠youâre eventually gonna get caught, right? Someoneâs going to snap a picture of us, and then the catâs out of the bag,â he teased, nudging your leg with his.
You groaned, rolling your eyes. âOh, sure, because every random person with a camera is just dying to know who youâre dating.â
He snickered, leaning in closer. âMaybe. But you know, it could be kinda nice⊠to go out sometimes. Like, properly. We donât have to make a big deal of it.â
You hesitated, biting your lip. As much as you loved being with him, the idea of being recognizedâor worse, photographedâmade you cringe. Your accounts were private, your life simple, and you werenât sure how youâd feel about people seeing you with him.
But, at the same time, you knew it wasnât fair to keep him hidden away forever. So, you took a deep breath and gave him a small smile. âWhat if we make a deal?â
His eyebrows shot up in interest. âIâm listening.â
âYou can have me at the paddock,â you said, already dreading the idea. âBut my accounts stay private, no tags, no âgirlfriend revealsâ on Instagram. Iâll show up, Iâll be there for you but Iâm not trying to become some celebrity.â
He grinned, leaning in to kiss you softly. âDeal. Although I canât promise you wonât end up in a couple of team photos. You know how they love to catch every damn moment.â
You chuckled, trying not to think too hard about what you were signing up for.
-
A couple of weeks later, you were lying in bed with Lando, scrolling mindlessly through Instagram, when you felt a pang of guilt.
âI never actually told you about my sister,â you said suddenly.
âOh?â He looked over at you with interest.
âYeah, sheâs been obsessed with F1 since she was like, ten,â you explained, laughing softly. âSheâs begged me to take her to a race for years, but I was always too busy with school. Now sheâs a full-on Ferrari fan⊠and sheâs probably never going to forgive me for dating you.â
He grinned, intrigued. âA Ferrari fan, huh? Thatâs rough. Maybe I can convince her to switch sides.â
You snorted. âGood luck. Sheâs already sworn allegiance to Sebastian Vettel. In her words, McLarenâs colors are âan offense to her soul.ââ
Lando laughed, shaking his head. âWell, in that case, weâll have to win her over somehow. Why donât we bring her to a race? Iâll make sure she gets the best seats, full experience,
You raised an eyebrow, surprised. âSheâd lose her mind. Seriously. Are you sure? Because I can tell you right now, sheâd never root for McLaren.
âAbsolutely,â he said, squeezing your hand. âIf sheâs as big a fan as you say, she deserves a proper race weekend. Plus, I think itâs time we officially break her âFerrari-onlyâ heart.â
-
On race day, you and Lando arrived at the paddock, and immediately, heads turned. Youâd chosen a classic, chic outfit and despite your initial nerves, you managed to keep your cool.
You spotted your sister down the row, and her jaw dropped as soon as she saw you. She approached, barely able to contain her excitement, though she shot a mock glare at Lando.
âSuch a shame I donât like McLaren,â she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
âYeah, yeah,â he replied with a grin. âYou just wait. One lap, and youâll be a fan.â
She rolled her eyes, but you could tell she was thrilled, practically bouncing on her heels as she looked around at the spectacle. She turned to you, eyes wide with disbelief. âYouâre really here⊠at a race. I donât know whether to thank you or disown you.â
You laughed, nudging her playfully. âIâm still not a fan, if that helps.â
She huffed, pretending to be offended. âI guess Iâll forgive you. But only if you bring me every single time from now on.â
The rest of the day passed in a blur of cameras, fans, and the hum of engines. You couldnât deny the rush of excitement that came with being part of the chaos, even if it meant being in the public eye. And when you saw your sisterâs face, completely lit up as she took in every second, it felt worth it.
-
The relationship slowly became public, just as you and Lando had agreed. You kept your accounts locked down, but fans began to recognize you, and a few photos of you two at the paddock circulated on social media.
Your sister stayed true to her Ferrari fandom, texting you regularly to tease you about your âbetrayal.â But every now and then, youâd catch her slipping in a comment about McLaren usually something along the lines of, âOkay, that car looks pretty badass.â
One evening, Lando turned to you with a satisfied grin. âI think weâre doing alright, donât you think?â
You looked around the Monaco apartment youâd somehow started calling âhomeâ without even realizing it, at the life youâd built together. You leaned over, giving him a soft kiss. âYeah, I think so, too.â
In the end, you realized you didnât need to post, announce, or shout your relationship from the rooftops. Being there for each other was enough, even if it meant sharing some of the spotlight.
After all, Lando may have been the one the world wanted to see, but you were his, and that was more than enough.

WHO'S AFRAID OF LITTLE OLD ME? | Spencer Reid x Prentiss!Reader [10]
description: the one with Cat Adams + the one where she tells him.
length: 13k
warnings: literally just watch 11x11, mention of vomit, blood, alcoholism. mention of pregnant wives??
previous chapter | series masterlist | next chapter
âwhoâs afraid of little old me?
you should be,â
She remembered when she was little when she would wake up so early even the birds hadnât uttered a morning chirp, her stomach grumbling because she usually hated the fancy stuff they had for dinner and ended up leaving it on her plate. She remembered thinking her mother would be no use, that Elizabeth would tell her to go straight back to bed, even if she whined and cried that she wanted breakfast, remembered thinking Louise, the au pair that usually took the morning shift, wouldnât be in for another hour or so, and she certainly wasnât tall enough to reach the cabinets yet.Â
Which left her with Emily.Â
Nineteen year old Emily, who was already in and out of the house with college, her hair a box dyed black, singed from all the crimping and hair spray. Emily, who liked to take her to the park even if she pretended she was too old, who played Barbies with her and helped her cut all their hair off probably because she figured that was better than her constant urge to do whacky things with her own locks. Emily, who had never wanted a little sister really until Elizabeth had brought home the carrier and suddenly she had never loved ten chubby fingers and toes so much.
She remembered waking Emily up, usually by pulling herself up onto her sisterâs Mötley CrĂŒe themed bedding and prodding at the girlâs shoulder until she stirred, how Emily would lead her down the long, ornate hallway into the kitchen, when the only sound in the house would be their bare feet padding along the cold tiles. How Emily would yank two bowls out of the cupboard, tipping a generous dose of coco pops in each of them, back when they were full of sugar and real chocolate, not the healthy crap they sold nowadays.Â
It would just be the two of them at the breakfast table, crunching on their spoons, five year old Bugsy no doubt dribbling the brown milk down her chin and pyjama top, but she was happy. Because she had her big sister.
She stared down at the dregs of cocoa that whirled into the white milk as the cereal sat there longer, because she was only picking at it really, and it had nothing to do with the fact she was almost certain they had changed the recipe since she was little.Â
âI was thinking,â She said after a moment or so, while Spencer pottered around the kitchen, fixing them both a pot of coffee that she usually was usually bouncing over to grab at this point in the morning. Except today she felt sluggish, lost in that maze of thoughts that only Spencer could really unpick, and the second sheâd started speaking his head whipped over the counter to where she idly stirred her breakfast, âAbout what you said when Gideon⊠We could probably afford to start looking at buying a house soon, what with the mortgage rates dropping,âÂ
She looked up at him hopefully, hoping he couldnât sense the hesitation on her breath because he usually knew what she was thinking before she said anything, and for once she wished he didnât have that crazy ability to read her mind, only to see him with a small if not saddened smile.Â
When Gideon had passed, Spencer had gotten in his head that they needed to leave the apartment, that if the Jason Gideon could have been caught unaware, then they werenât safe either. Of course he hadnât meant it, at least not entirely, but Gideon passing had spun the logic half of his brain that spouted the statistics that they were no more in danger now than they were before heâd gone, but still it was something heâd been thinking about. A house meant more space; more space meant they could stop tripping over each other's laundry, meant they could get the bigger shower theyâd always talked about, maybe even a tub. A house meant the garden he knew he always wanted Niko and Sergio to have now they were grey around the whiskers and couldnât run so fast.Â
âI think thatâs a great idea,â Spencer said, picking up their mugs of steaming hot goodness and carefully stepping towards her, gently sliding the drink over to her as the liquid sloshed and threatened to dip over the edge, âIs there any place you want to look?âÂ
He left his own mug in favour of circling his arms around her shoulders and pulling her in for a soft hug, her head falling beneath his chin where she sat on the barstool.Â
Kissing her hairline gently, she heard him inhale her shampoo scent, and she plonked her spoon back in the bowl to wrap her arms around his waist, squeezing herself into every crevice that they werenât already touching.Â
âI donât care,â She said, tilting her head to look up at him with love sick eyes, only to see him already besottedly gazing at her, and she guessed by the way his lips draw up at the corners that he didnât realise he was still smiling, âAnywhere with you is good enough for me,âÂ
He looked down at her in that way he usually did, expression soft and sweet and entranced, but she saw the traces of worry in his gaze, âYou feeling okay? Today is going to be⊠hard,âÂ
Bugsyâs expression faltered slightly, and she turned away to push her face into his stomach so he wouldnât see the doubt lingering in her eyes. She nodded anyway, even though she knew he would catch her in the lie.
After Scratch, Hotch had ordered her to take three months off for a psych evaluation, had granted Spencer at least a month of holiday to watch over her because he knew Reidâs head would be all over the place with worry if heâd returned to work without her. It was like asking Garcia to leave her computers and fluffy pens at home; it just wouldnât work.Â
By the time she was cleared to come back, despite the recurring nightmares of that day still eating away at her sleep, Hotch had set her up to work solely from the office, strictly no field work.
He liked to think it was for her own safety, for her own good since he saw the way she pounded coffee like it was juice while Spencer lingered around her with a worried stare. But if he had to be honest with himself, Hotch couldnât get away from the things Scratch had made him see just as much as she couldnât. He couldnât escape seeing her throat slit like she was a lamb for slaughter, the life leaving her eyes as she faded away. And it was the thought of her carotid artery spraying over his boots that made him want to lock her up in bubble wrap and never let her go.Â
But that was feasible in their job, not really. So desk duty it was.Â
âYou donât have to go with us into the field, you can always stay with Hotch and Garcia,â He offered, stroking her hair behind her ear and tempting her to look back up at him with gentle fingertips under her chin, and when she saw the unease in the muddy hues, she squeezed him tighter, knowing the past five months had been just as hard on him.Â
âNo, I want to,â She protested gently, her hands weaselling under his shirt and onto the warm, soft skin of his back, pawing at him like a cat trying to settle. âIf youâre being made this womanâs number one target, I want to be there on stand by,âÂ
And he couldnât really argue. Because no matter what frame of mind he was in, even if it had been him captured and tortured, he would never let her go out as bait and not be there breathing down her neck.Â
He sighed, the urge to protest stuck in his throat and all he could think to do was bring his lips to hers gently in a soft kiss, because his resistance to her being put in the line of danger would only be futile.Â
She hummed into the kiss, his hands skirting over her back and she swore she would be content if the rest of her life was spent in Spencerâs arms, in the warm mornings at their kitchen table just the two of them, and the idea of that last part spun her stomach into turmoil all over again.Â
What if he freaked out? No, scratch that, he was definitely going to freak out. Spencer hated change, hated having things dropped on him, and Diana was already getting worse with the symptoms of Alzheimers she had begun presenting. He had more than enough on his plate as it was, and she knew she was the only thing that could keep his head from exploding with the worry, even if she was sometimes the cause of it. Heâs always been a worrier, and part of her despised herself for the fact that he had shot out of bed every single night sheâd been in the midst of a night terror, when the room spun and Peter Lewis seemed so real and so close and she woke up screaming. Because sheâd brought him enough stress and trouble, and now she had an extra helping of it dished up and ready.Â
It wasnât one of those things she could keep to herself, not even if she so desperately wanted to sit on it and mull it over for a few months. She needed to tell him soon.Â
Spencer looked down at her eyes, the way theyâd glazed over slightly, and he wished he could crawl into the space where her thoughts bounced between one another if it meant he could figure out what had gotten her so twisted up the past few weeks. She hadnât been herself entirely since Scratch, but she had been getting better. Sheâd started getting more sleep, seemed less jumpy when they were in the quiet of their apartment, and part of him thought maybe that was why she wanted to look at houses. A fresh start. And yet overnight, sheâd had this guilty look in her eye like she was suddenly a million miles away, and he hated it. Bugsy had never been distant, which seemed odd to think considering she was burying her hands and face into him like she had no intention of letting him leave. But there was something in the depths of her brilliantly big mind that seemed to hold her tongue for her.
He kissed her again, hoping it was all in his head, hoping she wouldnât keep things from him because it was them and they always told each other everything. Even if it was gross and weird and inappropriate, everything.Â
And he thought maybe it was because he was going on a date with another woman, using himself as live bait to flirt and charm and seduce an assassin in order to take her into custody without fuss. Yeah, that was probably it. He couldnât say he would be all too pleased if it had been the other way around and he would be watching her ravish another man even if it was just for the job.Â
That was definitely it. There couldnât be anything else.Â
âYou know I love you,â He said as a statement, yet she nodded as though it was a question, and he kissed her again because heâd regretted not doing it a hundred times a day the second heâd seen her in that closet, regretted not seeing the fact she was more than likely uncomfortable with her boyfriend of two years wining and dining a murderer. âWhatever I say when Iâm there with her, you know I love you, more than I could ever love anything else,âÂ
He seemed so sincere, his eyes turning into that soft puppy like frown, and it only served to drive the knife in deeper as she nodded, her hands wrapping into his hair and pulling him down to kiss her again, this time just a little harder like his lips could wipe away the pit in her stomach. Because it was Spencer, and she was lying by omission, and god did she need him to know how much she loved him before things went wrong and they changed and-
âWe have a little time right?â She said, his hands taking the hint as they pulled her to her feet gently, cereal long forgotten in a chocolate slush, and his hands reached down to cup her ass in the way he was more than used to doing now. Didnât stop him from blushing however.Â
âY-yeah we have time,â He said, and she barely let him finish his sentence before sheâd claimed his mouth again, not that he was complaining. She looped her fingers through his belt buckle, stepping backwards with his guidance towards their bedroom, and he hummed through a moan when he felt her run the other hand through his already messy bedhead, tugging on the ends of his curls gently.
âGood,â She responded, with a drop of that natural Bugsy cheekiness he was used to, and the sound of it made him smile. Maybe it was just the job after all, âI think I need a demonstration on just how much you donât mean whatever you need to say to her,âÂ
He smirked, because she was more like herself than she had been in days, and god was she pretty when she smiled at him before they had sex, like she knew what was coming, like she knew what she did to him. He wouldnât be surprised if she could hear his heart thumping in her ears just as clearly as he could.Â
âI think youâll need multiple demonstrations,â He said, his fingers looping in between her buttons on her trousers and popping them apart softly because theyâd done this before, rushed it so they werenât late for work, and ended up ripping good jeans, âGather multiple sets of data before you draw a conclusion,âÂ
He kissed down her neck and her small laugh became a moan, âI think itâs pretty much the only way, Doctor Reid,â
He laughed, and she felt it against her pulse, the sound of it making her shiver as he shoved the door open with little remorse for the way it slammed into the wall. And she made a promise to herself that once theyâd caught their UnSub, she would tell him, even if it meant all of this would change.Â
â
He arrived at the restaurant five minutes early, his suit steamed and neat, a single red rose in his hand. His skin was already crawling at the idea of flirting with another woman, but Spencer knew none of it was real, knew he was just doing his job. Still it didnât diminish the desire to glance where Bugsy and Rossi were sat in a booth, because heâd seen her in that red dress a thousand times before, and yet it still made his jaw drop the second he saw her in it. Â
The brief had been black tie, something to fit in with the five star restaurant, and god had she delivered. He ought to have protested, told her that she was too distracting and maybe insisted she stayed in the office if she looked so striking, but then again she could have worn a bin bag for all he cared, he would still be fighting the urge to look over at her.Â
He chose the seat with Bugsy at his back as to eliminate his urge to stare at her, because Dave could keep her safe, the rest of his team could watch her, he had to trust that.Â
He lay the rose on the other side of the table, fiddling with the other parts of the cutlery to make sure everything looked perfect, even though in his mind he was thinking of all the things Bugsy would have been saying if she was his date tonight. She probably would have made a comment on his suit (she already had before theyâd even stepped out the hotel, just as heâd given her arse a quick squeeze with cheeks even more crimson than her dress because she looked divine), probably would have offered to go to the in-and-out down the street instead because she never cared about splashing out on dates, just being with him was enough.Â
Adjusting his jacket a little, he waited, trying to keep his head far away from his girlfriend, although that was much easier said than done. He couldnât remember what his brain was like before it was filled with thoughts of her.
The ring sat in his sock drawer, buried in one of his older pairs that he hoped she wouldnât go after since heâd made the mistake of putting it in with his boxers and almost got caught within a day when she went to steal some ready for bed and heâd chided himself for the sloppy work. He knew he wanted to ask her, thought he might even bring her to a fancy place like this, maybe prepare a small speech that attempted to tell her how much she meant to him even though he knew there wasnât enough words for such a thing. Would he hide it in the cake? No that would be cheesy, she found cheesy overdone. Would she even like it done in public? No, she would hate that, he would wait until they got home, maybe even try that thing sheâd wanted to do in bed for a few weeks, and then when they were done-
âSpencer?â A woman appeared at the table, a woman who by all accounts was objectively pretty, yet he felt that small kick of victory when he recognised her from the FBI database.Â
Cat Adams. Assassin. Mastermind. UnSub.Â
âCat?â He said with practised naivety, and this time he forced all thoughts of his loving girlfriend from his head like they were about to be tainted by the woman standing in front of him, âHi,â
âHi,â She replied, her grin too bright and sparkly for anyone to ever guess she was a killer though he supposed that was the point,
âHello, itâs nice to finally-â He cut himself off when she leaned up to hug him, her face drawing closer to his suddenly and she looked like she was gearing up for a peck on the lips. Forward. Much more forward than heâd given her credit for, and his stomach flipped in discomfort as he leaned away, âOh s-sorry, I have kind of a germ thing,â He excused, which wasnât a total lie.Â
Also my girlfriend is sat ten feet away and I can already hear her clenching a fork ready to ball your eyes out like a melon, he wanted to say, though he kept his snark to himself.Â
âOh, sorry,â Cat said, holding her hands up in surrender, and looking up at him with what he knew to be false innocence. But he played along, because the sooner they caught her, the sooner he could be done with the entire thing.
âIâm kinda weird with hugs,â He explained, his face boyish as he gestured her to take a seat, because at least then he could put some distance between them, âPlease, sit down,â
She smiled dizzily, slipping her jacket off to reveal a blue dress that accentuated her pixie short hair, her collar bones that could cut glass, her small, sleek figure, and she adjusted her straps as an excuse to divert his attention to her breasts.
âThatâs like the oldest trick in the book, get some new material, bitch,â Bugsy mumbled under her breath, drowning her venom in sparkling apple juice disguised as champagne from where they sat in a dark corner booth and Rossi chuckled, shaking his head.Â
âI wouldnât worry about boy genius having a wandering eye, kid. Reid is more devout than my mother on Easter Sunday,â He said, picking at the starter theyâd ordered as a way to seem busy. She hummed, diverting her attention into her chicken salad, making sure she wasnât looking at the happy couple for too long as they talked awkwardly, âDo you think you could take her?â
âI know I could take her,â Bugsy responded in a clipped tone, and Rossi sniggered, and they heard Tara and Derek do the same down their earpieces.Â
âIt was a joke,â Cat said, to something they hadnât quite caught, though by the looks of it they were still just making small talk, âA bad joke,â
âNo, no, it was funny,â Spencer said reassuringly, and he chuckled, though Bugsy knew off the bat it was fake because she loved making him laugh and it sounded nothing like that. They fell into an awkward silence and she could hear Spencer scrambling for things to talk about because if she walked away their lead to the other assassin went right with her.Â
âCan we start over? Hi, Iâm Cat,â The woman said, fixing her skirt with a shy smile. She certainly didnât seem like a killer, Bugsy thought, where she glanced at her in her peripheral. She certainly was pretty, spritely even. A little too eager to kiss a guy she just met.Â
âHi, Iâm Spencer,â He replied, in that nervous tone he usually got when she flustered him.Â
âIs it true you have three PHDs?â Cat asked with, well, cat-like eyes flicking between sly and seductive, and Bugsy could see how any man who wasnât as smart as her boyfriend would fall for the act.
âYes, thatâs true. I do have three PHDs,âÂ
âWhatâs your favourite book you read last year?â She pressed and Bugsy sipped her juice to stop herself from answering for him.
âIâve honestly never read a book I havenât loved,â He said, deflecting the subject, while his girlfriend smirked into her almost empty plate.Â
Demons by Fydor Dostoevsky, she corrected to herself because she knew heâd gone back to it more than a handful of times.Â
âTell me about your wife,â Cat went in for the kill, her timid smile morphing into something wicked as she watched Spencer squirm.Â
And the second sheâd said it something had reared its ugly head inside him. Because try as hard as he might, all he could think about was Bugsyâs face and that damn ring.Â
âIf you donât mind, Iâd erâŠâ He cleared his throat, wondering why it was so difficult to get through a single conversation when theyâd ran through the plan a million times. He knew she would ask, and yet all he could do was get defensive thinking about Cat damn Adams setting her hands on the woman he wanted desperately to marry, âIâd rather not talk about her,â
âMight as well get it out in the open right? I mean, itâs why weâre here,â She said smugly, like that innocent bounce in her step had wiped right away, revealing the murderess underneath, âHow long have you been married?â
âFour years,â He lied, though he thought back to JJâs wedding that same amount of time ago and how beautiful she looked in her dress and her cast and how heâd wished it was theirs.Â
âWhen is she due to give birth?â Catâs eyes narrowed at the man, pushing her hair behind her ear in a playful manner.Â
Bugsy stopped, licking her lips and hoping Rossi wasnât watching her as she finished off the last of her sparkling juice, raising a hand to a passing waiter to order a second round.Â
âYou having another one, Grandpa?â She said innocently, despite the stink eye he gave her and nodding to the non-alcoholic beer heâd ordered.Â
âWatch yourself,â He said as the waiter retreated, and she snickered into her meal, âGrandpa will knock you on your ass,âÂ
âYou would never, Hotch would hate that kind of paperwork,â She said setting her cutlery on the side of her plate to signal she was done, âHR would have a field day,â
âI wanna hear you say it,â The line crackled in their ear as Bugsyâs drink arrived at the table, and she couldnât help but think the womanâs seductive voice could easily pass for a call girl. She chanced a quick look over at their table, her heart rate spiking when she saw the woman all but eye fucking Spencer with a bit of her lip, like the thrill of the chase was half the fun for her, and Bugsy felt the disgust settle in her stomach.Â
âTo have her killed,â Spence replied, and she looked away then, the bitterness settling on her bottom lip in a sneer. She didnât think for one second that Spencer would think the woman was alluring, it didnât make him flirting any easier to watch.Â
The UnSub smiled wryly, looking down at his arm, âLet me see your ring,â
Spencer froze, holding his hand out hesitantly, the feeling of the gold band entirely alien on his finger even though he was trying to get used to it for the sake of the case. Catâs hand shot out like a snake striking, holding his ring in between her perfectly manicured fingers, her eyes roving over the jewel.
âYou know what that is?â She said with contempt, shaking her head, âA noose, only it doesn't kill you all at once it kills you slowly, day by day,âÂ
And he couldnât have disagreed more, in fact the only thing that was killing him was the fact he had been dumb enough to wait so long to propose to the woman he loved more than life itself.Â
Spencer Reid, dumb and in love.
âYou ever feel that way?â She said, ripping him out of his thoughts, and he nodded wordlessly, sighing for effect.
âI feel that way all the timeâ Except his every day was spent wondering just how he ever got so lucky, how he managed to fall in love with the same woman who gave him apple cake when he couldnât remember the last real meal heâd had because he was three months deep in an opioid addiction and having her look at him like he hung the damn cosmos.Â
âTake it off,â She ordered, and Spencer tried flashing her a surprised if not charmed smile, though his hackles were slightly raised, âAs a sign of your commitment. To me,âÂ
He bit his cheek, knowing better than to argue back if he was playing the part of the down beaten husband, and began twisting the gold ring off his wedding finger, handing it over to her expectant palm.Â
âIf she sticks to the pattern, sheâll take him to a secondary location and then kill him.â JJ observed, sipping on her mocktail in her own fancy, ruffled dress, shooting Tara and Derek a look where they played the part of a sweet couple on a date.Â
âIâd like to see the bitch try,â Bugsy said through a wide fake smile, her face showing no symptoms of anger except the flash of teeth.Â
âDonât worry sweetheart, weâre not letting it get that far,â Rossi added, and the two of them clinked their drinks together in a ringing chink, âHotch, do you two have a visual?â
Penelope confirmed with a few taps of her keyboard, and Hotch nodded as Spencer confirmed with a small flick of his eyes he could hear the feed, âAlright, all agents stand by. Dr Reid will give the green light, donât move until we have it,âÂ
âTwenty four carats?â Cat asked, twisting the ring in between her fingers with a smug grin like she already knew the answer.Â
âYeah,â Spencer replied, looking down at the band and back up the soulless dark hues of the black widow woman.Â
âTwenty four k times⊠four years. Means this ring should be dinged and nicked, but,â She huffed, reaching into her purse under the table, and Bugsy damn near spat out her juice when she heard a gun load through the mic, âThis sucker is brand new. Youâre not married.â
âWhat was that, was that what I think it was?â Penelopeâs stressed tone rushed through the ear piece, and the sound of it plus the smell of the chicken sheâd just eaten made Bugsyâs stomach turn again.Â
Except this time she felt it coming up into her throat, the same way sheâd found herself feeling queasy for a few days. Spencer had thought she had a stomach bug, had tried to get her to stay home with some mint tea, but this was more than the last few times. It was like her anxiety clenched her gut in a tight grip and twisted painfully, and she lurched forward, slapping a hand over her mouth.Â
âKid?â Rossi said, his brows frowning at the expression on her face, and she immediately began untucking her napkin from her chest.Â
She needed to make it to the bathroom now, hoped on everything that the sudden movement didnât distract where Cat held a gun to Spencerâs midriff beneath the table.Â
âWhat is she doing?â Morgan hissed into the mic, while Hotch and Penelope began barking protests.Â
âOh, good lord, Bug, stay down, you donât know what that psycho is going to do!â Penelope squealed, watching Bugsy rush out of the booth seat, a hand firmly over her lips, and Aaron brought a hand to his head, a splitting headache forming at the sight of the youngest agent rushing for the bathroom.Â
âPrentiss, what are you doing, you could blow your cover,â He snapped, though there was no anger there, and she could only switch her mic off for what was about to happen, knowing the team had much bigger things to worry about.Â
Bursting the doors open, she dived for the nearest stall and fell to her knees, head in the bowl before she could hock up her guts over the floor, and then came a horrid retching sound.Â
Spencerâs eyes widened at the table, hearing his team yelling out orders at the one person he couldnât keep track of, and it took everything in him not to turn in his seat to investigate for himself what happened for her to flee the safety of the table, or go after her even. Because even if he wanted to, even if he needed nothing more than to make sure she was okay, he couldnât move an inch. Not with the gun being pointed at all of his important organs by the experienced killer with a smile.
âDo you know why Iâm so good at my job?â Cat asked in a sweet tone, her eyes cold and calculating as she cocked the gun beneath the seat.Â
âBecause you kill without compunction or remorse,â Spencer bit, the flirty look in his expression long gone the second heâd heard the rest of his team calling for his girlfriend. He needed to keep his head, Bugsy was safe so long as she was far away from the woman pointing the gun at him. Having the weapon aiming for him he could deal with.Â
âThat only gets a girl so far in life,â Cat agreed with a nod, her jaw setting in a hard clench, âNo, itâs because I think through every possible outcome and then I plan accordingly,â
And Bugsyâs stomach seized hearing her voice so cold and viscous, and she would give anything to hear her partner flirting with that bitch of a woman if it meant she knew he was safe. She emptied her stomach again right as she heard their UnSub speak once more.
âYou see, I didnât walk into your trap. You walked into mine,â
And with that Bugsy gave another hurl.
â
âSpencer, why did you take time off from the FBI?â Cat insisted, her voice nails on a chalkboard, and he felt the apathy on his face flick into slight annoyance.Â
Bugsy. Because Bugsy had been ill, because she hadnât been sleeping, because she hadnât been herself for a few months, because his mom had gotten worse, because they needed him.Â
Spencer would take the bullet before he ever told her about Bugsy, because he knew for a woman who loved male attention, telling her about the girl he loved most in the world would only draw a big target on her back, and he would never dare to put her at risk. Never again.Â
Not a single hair on her head, heâd promised. Not even a scratch.Â
âYou can ask me as many times as you want but Iâm still not going to tell you,â He snipped, making sure to keep his face expressionless if he really wanted to sell the deal that she was a nobody to him.
Her mouth tightened in frustration, âThen youâre cheating, and I donât like cheaters,â
âYou donât get everything you want just because youâre pointing a gun at me under the table.â He stated blankly, his team waiting on bated breath to see if they needed to send in their back up since JJâs cover had already been blown. âYouâre not the first killer to point a gun at me, youâre not even the first woman to point a gun at me. Sorry.âÂ
Catâs smile shifted into something akin to a snarl, and she leaned forward on her elbows, and Spencer matched her challenge with cool ease. âYouâre really gonna take this all the way, arenât you?âÂ
And Spencer smiled wryly, because her composure was collapsing beneath her, âYeah,â
âSo am I,âÂ
âDave, go,â Hotch ordered, and Rossi drew his gun beneath a napkin, shuffling to his feet, âPrentiss, where the hell are you?âÂ
And she knew she was wasting time, but her stomach had picked the worst time to flip. Perhaps it was the anxiety, or the pressure of a gun being pointed at her love, or maybe it was bad chicken. Either way her mouth felt like it was stuffed with cotton, her legs weak where sheâd crouched on the floor, and she chided herself for not being able to pull it together when Spencer needed her.Â
And as if her nerves werenât rattled enough, she heard Spencerâs mic mute out, and she knew then that the time for sticking her head in the bowl and screaming at herself to get up was over. Spencer was in trouble. Two of their agents' cover was blown. With Tara and Derek sitting the opposite end of the restaurant, he was alone if Cat Adams decided to pull that trigger.Â
Spitting the rancid taste from her mouth into the toilet, she reached up for the flush, wiping her mouth with a handful of toilet paper.Â
âHotch,â She tuned in, and she heard the sighs of relief as he and Penelope seemed to both ease slightly at hearing her voice, âIâm back, howâs Rossi?â
âHis coverâs blown, heâs heading out to find JJ,â Hotch responded, his heart rate in his throat the second heâd heard her sound through. He knew it would be unfair if he pulled her from field work for another three months, but the second sheâd disappeared from their screens, heâd already began thinking of the excuse he could give if it meant he knew she was kept out of harmâs way, âWhere are you, are you hurt?âÂ
âNo, no, just,â She cleared her throat, leaving the stall and heading for the sinks, âBad chicken I guess,â
Taking a handful of cold water up to her mouth, she swilled the liquid around to try freshen herself up, sputtering it back into the sink and running the back of her hand over her lips.Â
âDo you need to get out of there?â Hotch asked, the concern thick in his tone, almost as clear as it was on his brow as he leaned in to Penelopeâs monitor, âLewis and Morgan have got eyes-â
âNo, Iâm not leaving him out there,â She protested, leaning over the sink with an exhausted huff, âI canât head back to the table, sheâll know I was with Rossi,âÂ
And as if she had spoken a plea to the universe, one of the waitresses waltzed through the bathroom door carrying glass cleaner and a bunch of fresh toilet paper under her arm, smiling sweetly at Bugsy who seemed like any other patron of their restaurant.Â
Her eyes snapped over the girlâs body, figuring she was about the same size, perhaps a tiny bit bigger than herself, she almost audibly heard the click of the idea and before she knew it she had reached out to grab the girlâs attention.Â
She just hoped it worked, because otherwise the scolding she was going to receive from Hotch wouldnât be worth it in the slightest.Â
âHereâs what Iâm gonna do, Iâm gonna penalise you by adding ten minutes because I actually did learn something important.â Cat said with a smirk, her finger flicking over the clock on his phone as she prolonged the countdown, and Spencer squirmed where she shuffled closer to him, close enough that their knees were touching and he could feel where the toe of her heels were teasingly stroking up his calf, like threatening him and his team for information was getting her off. He felt filthy, like heâd need a dozen showers before he fell into his girlfriendâs arms, and part of him considered skipping the whole dinner and speech, asking her the second he saw her again if she would be his wife.Â
Because this, having another woman so close, was making him sick.Â
âOh really? Whatâs that?â He snapped, his patience wearing thin as his lips pressed in a straight line.Â
âYour back up, I flushed them out,â She replied with a smirk, looking around the room with an arrogance Spencer wished he could wipe right off of her face, âItâs just me and you now,âÂ
âHi, how are we all doing this wonderful evening?â A chirpy voice came from the end of the table, slamming two menus down between them hard enough that their attention snapped to her immediately. Spencer felt his eyes morph into horror, though he fought hard to hide it, as he saw a familiar face, the same one that had been running through his mind since, well, forever. Her red dress was gone, replaced with a maroon shirt and a black pencil skirt, her hair tied back in a neat bun and she had a pen pushed behind her ear for good measure as she smiled at them tightly.Â
Bugsy had really done it this time.Â
âMy name is Emily and Iâll be your waitress. Can I get you started with some drinks?â
â
âPrentiss, what in godâs name have you done?â Hotch barked, as she waltzed behind the bar, ignoring the looks from the barman that clearly had never seen her working there before.Â
âIâm making sure Spencer has back up if she decides to get trigger happy,â She bit back, snagging a pitcher of water from the fridge and two crystalline glasses, placing them on an upturned tray.Â
âAnd what happens if she gets trigger happy towards the waitress that wonât leave them alone?â Morgan snipped, shooting her a look where their table faced the long, walnut coloured bar that wrapped around the back of the establishment.Â
âWell then, I guess we pray thereâs a doctor in the house that isn't Spencer,â She huffed, plastering a fake smile on her lips, and carefully shuffling the tray onto her palm, âYouâre going to have to take me out yourselves if you think Iâm leaving him there alone,â
And they huffed, Hotch running a hand through his hair. Because they knew she wasnât kidding. God help the man who tried to stop Bugsy when she had her mind to something.Â
And with that resounding silence, she listened to Spencerâs mic, hoping to catch a foot in to the conversation.
âYou should have seen right through me the moment you walked in, but you didnât,â He said, and she didnât need to take a glance at Catâs face to know she was getting more than riled up. Why was she here? What happened to staying with Rossi where it was safe? It was her first day back in the field, what was she doing? He didnât think heâd ever been so angry, though he knew if he scratched the surface of the feeling heâd find it was fear. And unfortunately for the woman sat opposite him, heâd stopped pulling his punches because of it. âYou couldnât. Because you canât get to the man you really want to hurt, so you need to hurt every man who reminds you of him,â
Catâs face flashed with what he could have sworn was hurt, before her eyes steeled back over and she shrugged nonchalantly, as if he hadnât hit straight home, âThatâs kind of boiler plate psychology, isnât it? Iâm just another girl with daddy issues,âÂ
âYouâd be surprised how many killers do what they do because of their parents,â He snapped back, because he couldnât dare take his eyes from their UnSub, no matter how desperately his gut told him to check on Bugsy. âIf itâs so boilerplate, let's test that theory. How hard did you look for him?â
Her mouth screwed up in bitterness, âVery hard,â
âAnd how disappointed were you when you realised you will never find him?â Spencer drove the knife in deeper, watching Catâs resolve fade under his hateful stare, âYou needed some other outlet for your rage and for a while this worked, but it also tripped you up,âÂ
And Bugsy stopped, because Spencer always had a way of saying the exact right thing that made her brain tick into genius, like everything about him made her the best version of herself even if he didnât mean to. That was what tripped her up. Her father.Â
âHotch, itâs her dad,â She murmured, flashing a couple of customers an easy smile as she took the plates off their table, because Cat would catch on way too fast if she seemed to be the only person not be doing a job, âThatâs what she wants, thatâs her endgame,âÂ
And there was only a single second between them, before Hotch caught up to that wonderfully big brain of hers, âSerial killers with an endgame will do anything to get to them, even if it means taking themselves down with it,â
âWhy would I make you sit here for thirty minutes?â Catâs voice crawled down her ear piece as she burst through the kitchen doors, dumping the plates at the pot wash and looking to where JJ and Rossi were talking with the manager.Â
âBecause youâre stalling,â Spencer said, though he didnât have that usual tone that told her he was sure of himself, and she knew from the direction it was going that something was missing. Theyâd missed something, otherwise theyâd have Cat in cuffs by now.
âThen you donât know me at all,â She hissed back, and Bugsy shook her nerves out through her fingers, peeking at where they were sat through the thin glass pane on the door, âDo you think I would show up here without an escape plan. Or is that just what another girl with daddy issues would do? Maybe if you hadnât fallen victim to your own gender bias, and yes all men have gender bias, even you Dr Reid, you would have recognized that your entire strategy was based on one faulty detail. Can you see it?âÂ
Spencer paused, his frown shifting on his face, âYouâre not here alone,âÂ
âAnd my partner? Less paranoid than you think,â She said, and by the sounds of it the smirk was back on her face, and Bugsy fought the sneer twitching at her lips.Â
âYou planted a bomb in the building,â Came Spencer's response, the grave realisation setting all three agents into motion. JJâs head whirled to where their youngest stood by the door, her eyes widening at her partnerâs words.Â
And for a second she wanted to beg Bugsy to take cover outside, to get out while she still could, because it had been a miracle the last time a building had exploded around her and sheâd only broken a few bones. JJ didnât think she could stand to grieve her for good, not the girl who had already gone through so much for them. All because they had missed it.Â
But she knew better, knew Bugsy would fight tooth and nail to stay if Spencer was still in the building. Knew that that argument would only be futile, a waste of time, because the Prentiss girl was not leaving.Â
âWeâll go check it out, you stay put,â JJ ordered, drawing her gun to her side as Rossi did the same and Bugsy nodded, âDonât do anything stupid, donât draw attention to yourself, Spencer knows what heâs doing,âÂ
And Bugsy paused before she answered, choosing to give them a slow nod because she already had a good idea of what her next move would be, and it absolutely did not involve staying put.Â
Like hell she would stay put while he was there.Â
With that, JJ and Rossi turned on their heel to head for the stairs leading underneath the building, and Bugsy picked the tray back up, right as Lewis burst through the revolving doors, a serious look on her primped face.Â
âWe need to evacuate,â Tara said, and Bugsy nodded, flicking a look behind her to where the rest of the kitchen seemed to be waiting on their order, because the second JJ had flashed the FBI badge, they had frozen.
âYou get the customers out safely, Iâm going to buy us some time,â Bugsy said, and Tara watched her slip through into the restaurant, the tray pressed against her stomach.Â
This was stupid. Stupider than sheâd ever been, but her thoughts struggled to make sense whenever Spencer was in trouble. And it was like she saw the splash of his brains against the table, the same way sheâd seen it in Lewisâs house all on the ceiling, like she could see now just what his organs would look like when Adams shot him however many time in the abdomen.Â
She couldnât think like that. They would be okay, they would figure it out together, they always did. They always managed to put their heads together when they were in trouble.Â
Being in danger together seemed like a much better bet than having to watch the love of her life killed in the middle of this damn restaurant because she hadnât done anything. She wanted to do everything with him for the rest of her sorry life, and if that meant sitting at the nozzle end of a pistol with him, then so be it.Â
She just hoped he would forgive her quickly.Â
âAll we want to do is-â She heard Spencer begin, the other waiters filtering out of the kitchen with shaken looks on their faces, as they carefully slipped their patrons the bill that had already paid off, asking them to leave calmly and quietly.Â
âMinimise collateral damage, I get it, Iâm not mad,â Cat snapped back, rolling her eyes, âItâll give me the cover I need to slip out. I just need to know itâs clear, so do me a favour and tell your boss that nobody leaves until its safe for me to do so,âÂ
Spencer chewed his tongue. He couldnât let her leave, not when they had her so close, not when they were pursuing Penelope, not when they were so close to catching the woman responsible for so many kills.Â
Spencer hated losing, he hated knowing that she was about to get away because he had been too wrapped up in his overwhelming thoughts to figure out her plan, too busy fretting over the two women who meant the most to him to think ten steps ahead like he usually did.Â
Heâd been sloppy, even though he knew he should cut himself some slack. His fiancee, girlfriend, had been tortured, his mother facing a different kind of terror in her mind altogether. He hadnât been thinking about work, heâd been thinking of the house they were going to buy with the picket fence and the porch swing and the mortgage, and the damn ring-
âWell?â Catâs goading voice ripped him out of his reverie, and he huffed in defeat, âSpencer?â
âYou can leave,â He murmured, the agitation scratching at his skin because he was struggling to think of a final card to play. He was usually so good at games, usually won every single one of them. But his head couldnât settle when Bugsy wasnât near, when he couldnât make sure she was safe.Â
Cat shuffled out of the side of the booth, her eyes flicking across the restaurant for her contact, and Spencer had barely opened his mouth in protest before he watched the UnSub walk straight into a waitress, a false smile slipping on her face as to not raise alarm.Â
âIâm sorry, I wasnât watching where I was-â And yet his breath hitched when he spotted the hair heâd ran his fingers through just that morning yanked into a bun, the lips he could kiss for an entire lifetime curled in disdain, the body he worshipped refusing to move out of the way for the woman in a hurry.Â
And it seemed Cat only realised that the woman who had brought them water wasnât a waitress at all, despite her plain face that had faded into the background, despite the fact Spencer hadnât given her a second glance; Only when she heard a gun cocking behind the serving tray at her stomach did the fake smile drop from Cat Adams face.Â
Because she hadnât flushed out Spencerâs back up. Not while Bugsy was still alive and breathing.Â
âSit back down,â Bugsy growled, keeping her tone low but with enough bite that Catâs eyes narrowed to hide the surprise.Â
âWell, well, seems I hadnât planned for everything, I thought a pretty face like you would know better than to pull a gun on a woman with her finger on the big red button,â Cat said wryly, though Bugsy caught her eyeing up her chest as if to be checking for a bullet vest, âMove out the way, sweetheart. You donât want this to get ugly,â
Spencerâs jaw flexed as he ground his teeth, though he kept his breathing even. What was she doing?Â
He didnât care that he had no more power over her than anyone else on the team, he wanted to drag her out of the room himself if it meant she would stop throwing herself in the way of danger.Â
âUnfortunately, sweetheart, thatâs not happening.â Bugsy snapped back, her expression melting into something rogue, something teasing as she leaned towards Cat with a challenge in her eyes. âYouâre going to sit back down, and Iâm going to show you exactly why you should have accounted for a pretty face like me,âÂ
âYouâre stalling,â Cat snickered, trying to push past the waitress, who wasnât a waitress at all but an FBI agent, only for her hand to shoot out and grab her wrist, tossing the tray on the table.Â
Spencer felt his heart lurch into his throat as he saw both of them pull their guns to waist height, a blink and youâd miss it kind of movement, and it was like heâd seen the game set and matched then and there.Â
Bugsy wasnât backing down. And neither was Cat.
âI make it a habit of knowing what kind of women are going on dates with my boyfriend,â Bugsyâs hand tightened around her wrist, watching the surprise flicker in the womanâs eyes, and she scoffed, âWhat? You really thought all that flirting and nervous glances were real?â
And the woman said nothing, her ego clearly a little hurt, though Bugsy was just sticking to the profile, and the profile said she revelled in male attention.Â
âCat got your tongue?â Bugsy snipped through a grin, even if her chest was pounding at the feeling of the gun pointing at her abdomen, âWell, lucky for you I have a present for you. On the condition you sit back down and play my game,âÂ
âYou think Iâm going to fall for that shit?â Cat seethed. It was one thing to outsmart a man, that was fair game, that was easy pickings for a woman like her. But a woman, a woman who seemed to love playing with her food as much as she did. That was different, âWhat is it, a reduced sentence? The good TV in my two by four cell? You can keep dreaming, I donât want your worthless promises,âÂ
âIâd hardly call your daddy dearest worthless,â Bugsy mused, and she watched Catâs expression falter, âA dead beat drunk maybe, but worthless? A little harsh considering you waited so long to meet him,âÂ
Cat paused, eyes flicking over the womanâs face for any signs of a lie, âYou have my father?â
And Bugsy smirked, âDo I look like Iâm bluffing?â But her face was set in stone, and Cat hated to admit she seemed too confident to be lying, âWhy donât you make this a little easier for everyone and sit back down. Iâm not done with you yet,â
The murderess scowled, her shoulders straightening as she ripped her wrist out of Bugsyâs grip and retreated back to the booth.Â
And it was only then that Bugsy looked at Spencer, his eyes wide in a horrid mix of terror and rage, and it was a sight she swore she never wanted directed at her again. But she couldnât leave him, he had to understand that. Because if all the bets were off, if all the cards were dealt, she knew he would need to be dragged screaming from the building before he left her to deal with a hostile UnSub alone.Â
And Spencer knew that too, of course he knew that. Yet it didnât diminish the sickening worry bubbling up in his chest as the women sat down at the table, and their game had a playing field.Â
âSo, I take it this is the darling wife you wanted killed,â Cat sneered, and Spencer didnât dare take his eyes off the woman with the gun, even if Bugsy did have one pointed right back at her, âI donât blame you, Iâd want to be rid of her too,â
And they both knew it was a dig, a stab in the interest of getting them both riled up. But it wouldnât go far. Because despite the anger Spencer felt dwindling in his chest, he always worked better with her. Like a puzzle piece in the tangle of his mind had clicked into place, and suddenly they were a team again, and she seemed more like herself than she had in months, an ease about the way she leaned back in the plush seat despite the fact her finger was resting on the trigger.Â
âHave you ever played Catâs cradle?â Bugsy asked her, knocking her knee against his as if sheâd heard his thoughts. They were together in this. Together. Even if the building went up in flames and bullets and the plan went to shit. Just the two of them, the way theyâd always been.Â
And he felt himself ease back too, something akin to security shifting over him. They always were safer together.Â
Catâs eyebrows raised as Bugsy dodged her comment, âWhat, do you want to braid my hair like sixth graders, too? What about it?âÂ
Bugsy shrugged, reaching over with her free hand to the glass of water sheâd set down for the two of them, âThe way I see it, Cat, you have got those little paws caught in yarn and are scrambling to get out of it,â She chuckled, taking a quick sip, âNow, if we were to let you go, youâd end up walking out of here scot free, and who knows, might even blow up the whole building anyway. But, if we help you out of this little tangle youâve got us all in, then maybe we cut a deal that doesnât involve all of us going out in a ball of flames and champagne. Sounds good right?â
The womanâs lips pursed tightly, her head tilting in annoyance, âAlright. Get on with it, no one likes a show off. How did you find my father?âÂ
Bugsy smirked, âWell that was pretty easy once you have access to the files we have. We traced your birth record to a Daniel Adams, who did in fact leave the country in 1987 but returned in 2012. Based on confidential records in rehabs and sober living houses, which in turn pointed us to flophouses and soup kitchens.âÂ
The brunetteâs eye twitched, like the girl had just spat in her face, which was what it felt like, and she felt the taste of her own medicine was just as sour as sheâd always presumed.Â
âHe couldnât put twenty four hours together sober, sweetheart,â Bugsy summarised, shrugging her shoulders as if it was no big deal to her, just another bum on the street, âYou can probably imagine our surprise to find that he lives here in DC,â
âWhere?â Cat hissed, and Bugsy snickered, shaking her head and taking another sip of her water.Â
âIâm an agent, not a miracle worker. It wasnât that simple,â She replied, boredly tracing her finger over the restaurants emblem they had printed on the napkin, âI found him on the street, showed him your picture and said Iâd like to ask him some questions about his darling daughter,â
Catâs lip pulled down in annoyance, her matt red lipstick smudging with her pout, âAnd?â
And perhaps Bugsy was being cruel. Perhaps she was playing into the profile that indicated Cat needed someone to match her wit and zeal if she was going to listen. Men, she could squash like bugs. Bugsy, ironically, not so much.Â
Perhaps she was thinking about how sheâd reached into Spencer's pants to retrieve his gun, and wanted some of what she was saying to hurt.Â
âHe didnât even know he had a daughter,â Bugsy said simply, with a small shrug of her shoulders, and she watched the womanâs onyx brown eyes glisten with unshed tears as the realisation crashed on her, "Didn't really seem to care,"
âHe-he didnât remember me?â Cat asked, the tease that had been there half an hour ago wiped clear from her tone, and Bugsy shook her head.Â
âNope,â She said, popping the last syllable, âAlcoholism really rocks your brain. Sorry, honey,â
Adams scoffed, shaking her head with venom, âYouâre not sorry. Sorry is what people say when they donât understand,â
And Bugsyâs brows raised, a bitter empathy flicking in her gaze. Quick, but not so quick that Cat didnât catch it, and she shuffled in her seat.Â
âOh,â Their UnSub paused, the trodden down look on her face rekindling with interest, âBut you understand, donât you? What, does your father like a good beer or ten, princess?âÂ
Bugsy snickered emptily, âOfcourse I understand,â She said, leaning over the table to hold the womanâs glare, because like hell would she back down just because Cat was treading on home ground, âI havenât spoken to my father in five years. He picked the hot wife and holidays to Aruba over his little girl and he thought a new pony or two would make up for all the times he forgot Christmas. I canât even remember the last time he sent me a birthday card on time, and yeah he was a bit of a mean bastard once he'd had a whiskey,â She shook her head with contempt, and she felt Spencer knock his knee against hers gently, but she only watched the viper woman with careful eyes. And to her shock, Cat seemed like she understood her, like she had some kind of respect for her telling the truth. âDonât look so surprised. Iâm very good at making sure old guys like that get whatâs coming to them. Or is that just what another girl with daddy issues would do?âÂ
Catâs face seemed to shrivel in frustration when she heard her words repeated back to her, âIs that really why you came here today? To help me?â And Bugsy tilted her head, knowing their UnSub was running out of time, that her window of opportunity was closing with the patrons of the restaurant getting antsy to leave. âDo you know how many men have told me they want to help me?â
Letting her expression smooth into empathy, she leaned forward, her tone dropping into a hushed murmur, âThat may well be true, sweetheart, but from where Iâm sitting, Iâm not a man,âÂ
And Cat paused, something like regret drifting over her face, before she spoke again, âDo you want to know how that worked out for them?âÂ
And with that, JJ and Rossi watched the C4 chargeâs switch to green, indicating their line was live and ready to blow.Â
âHotch, she just armed the bomb,â
Bugsyâs expression dropped an inch, the sight of it making Catâs lips curl into a cheshire smile.Â
âYouâre not the only one with a loyal partner, honey,âÂ
But the Prentiss woman was quick on her heels, watching Morgan and Tara rise from their place at another booth, heading towards a woman sitting at the bar on her phone, and she forced her lips together to stop herself from looking too smug to cause suspicion.Â
âIt seems so,â Bugsy agreed with a nod, handing her gun off to Spencer beneath the table.Â
If he was confused, he didnât show it, probably because he trusted that big brain of hers with everything in him, even if he was mad enough he could feel the annoyance oozing from his hot cheekbones. Yet to the rest of the restaurant, Cat Adams, included she hadnât moved an inch.Â
âBut, there is one thing I can guarantee about this partner of yours,â She said, leaning over to pour herself another glass of water casually.Â
Cat hummed in content, âOh, right? Whatâs that?â
And Bugsy smirked, barely raising the glass to her lips as Morgan pounced on the Bomber, ripping the phone out of her hands and causing the patrons around her to yelp, âSheâs sure as shit not as clever as me and my husband,âÂ
Catâs head whirlled around to see her partnerâs face slamming into the hard wood of the bar, Tara yanking the cuffs from her belt, and she barely had time to flick back to the two agents facing her before a pitcher of ice cold water was thrown in her eyes, her thick mascara running down her cheeks and blurring her vision. Spencer dove over the table and grabbed her gun from her grasp as Bugsy ripped her out of the booth with rough hands.Â
She threw her to the ground in the few seconds she was disorientated, her hands tightening around her wrists as make shift cuffs, and she saw Spencer hurrying to grab the real things from his pockets.Â
âThat was a cheap shot, youâre a cheater, you said youâd play fair,â Cat barked, her cheeks pressing against the rough carpet as the agents cuffed her, ignoring her protests and shoves.Â
âHoney, this is me playing fair,â Bugsy snapped with a cruel smirk, âYou threatened my friends, you stuck your hand in my boyfriendâs pants, and pointed a gun at him. Believe me I could have done so much worse,âÂ
And with that Cat Adams was hauled off the ground by the two of them, as they led her out to the police van waiting outside the restaurant.Â
â
The doors pulled open, empty, and Catâs face dropped, because her only silver lining on the entire outcome had been that sheâd be able to meet the dead beat dad that ran out on her.Â
That agentâs face had been so genuine as sheâd said it. It had seemed so real, and yetâŠÂ
âYou lied to me,â She said as Bugsy set her down on the bench, Spencer pulling another set of handcuffs from his belt and the two of them looked up at her, her lashes lining with disappointment.Â
âIf it helps, we really did try to look for him.â Spencer said, his tone blunt because she had a crazed look in her eye he didnât like one bit the second she stared at his girlfriend.
And even though she was the one in chains, heading for prison for a twenty year sentence at the minimum, she laughed. Cackled.Â
âIt doesn't matter anyway, I still won,â She said, that venomous gaze turning to Spencer because she had learned atleast two thing in the time sheâd been sat with the two agents that ruined her life.Â
One. Spencerâs mother had Alzheimers, that he hadnât been lying about. That she was sure was too real to be a story heâd pulled out his ass.Â
Two. The girl wasnât phased by insults or bites or cruel words directed towards her. Yet when it was at SpencerâŠ
âHow do you figure that one?â Bugsy said, her brow furrowing as she shook her head at the woman.
âIn ten years, Mommy dearest wonât remember anyoneâs name,â Bugsyâs head shot up at that, her lips curling into a snarl, and she forced her fingertips into her palm to stop herself from throwing a slap at the womanâs face, âBut Iâll remember yours,âÂ
Bugsy darenât react, no matter if her chest boiled in anger at the womanâs callous words. Spencer had to give that information up, give a small bit of his soft underbelly to get the woman to trust him enough not to shoot.Â
And she couldnât exactly blame him when he rose to his feet, darting out of the van with a clenched jaw, because the day had been an entire shit show, and she knew by the growl of annoyance he let out that their was a big conversation looming over her head, one she could only see ending in a fight.
It was just the two of them in the van, Cat entirely bound to her seat, and her painted lips had pulled into a grin the second heâd stormed off, her sleek eyes snapping to Bugsy who looked ready to slit her throat.Â
âOh, come on Princess, it was tit for tat,â Cat shrugged as if she didnât seem destroyed, âYou took my dad from me, I guess I had to do the same for that hubby of yours,â
Bugsy looked down at her, swallowing her rage with a purse of her lips, feeling her breath rattle with unfiltered animosity.
âYouâd make a shit profiler, for what itâs worth. What you profiled about him was all off,â She snarled, stepping away from the woman and looking down at her as if she was shit on the bottom of her shoe, âAt least heâs going to make a better father than the bum who would rather sleep on concrete than know you,â
And with that she slammed the doors closed behind her, darting off on Spencerâs heel.Â
+1. The one where she tells him.
She saw his stress lines, the way the dayâs events had weighed heavy on him. He sat on the sofa, his shoes thrown by the door after a tense drive home, and she'd found a space on the coffee table in front of him.
He was quiet, he had never been quiet with her, not in the years since theyâd kissed that first time in her room. He wasnât one for the silent treatment, she knew that much. Yet he was just that. Silent.
âAre you mad at me?â She asked, her voice that of a child as her brows scrunched together in worry. She felt the words bubbling in her throat, the thing sheâd needed to tell him for a week gnawing at her tongue, crawling itâs way out, only she worried that after what she had done, he might just be ten times more annoyed at her throwing herself in the line of danger.Â
He stayed quiet for a moment, and she thought this might turn into their first real fight in the two and bit years theyâd been together. Her skin went cold at the words that loomed over them, and she knew by the way he sighed alone he was pissed.Â
âYou canât do that,â He said, his voice a restrained bite, and he shook his head for good measure, âYou canât put yourself in the way of danger again, I canât do that again, not after Scratch.âÂ
Her throat closed up with tears, and she glanced at him, her fingers itching to take his warm hands in her own, her body begging to preen into him, have him kiss her and tell her he wasnât mad, that he still loved her, that everything was okay. But he wouldnât. Not because he didnât feel any of that, of course he still loved her, but the wet that lined his lashes told her all she needed to know. That seeing what Scratch had done to her had scared him enough that even the idea of her coming close to a hostile UnSub with a loaded gun, that straying from the plan that was designed to keep everyone safe, had tipped him into a grey area that had him both wanting to hold her close and never let her go whilst yelling at her in that broken cadence to show her just how hurt he was.Â
âIâm sorry, I just-â She choked, her eyes becoming watery and pathetic and she hated crying during arguments, not wanting to look weak but that was exactly how she felt. Weak. Like she had no backbone to lean on because she knew she shouldnât have intervened, but the snake-like woman undressing her boyfriend with her eyes while cocking a weapon at him had pushed her over the edge.Â
âOh, youâre sorry, that makes it much better,â Spencer shook his head, furrowing his brows and it was only when he leaned forward that the salty hot tears dribbled down his cheek. âYou- you canât just do that, Bugsy, you know that right?â
She nodded, the words building in her trachea like word vomit, like she wanted to scream the confession at him that she should have given him the second sheâd found out. âI know, Iâm sorry,â She said again, her words entirely warbled with guilt because sheâd never seen him so distraught, and she thought back to the horror that had spread on his face when sheâd sat down.Â
âYou canât do that to me, sweetheart, do you understand?â His tone had shifted, something a little softer and he grabbed her hands tightly when her shoulders hunched together, and she leaned forward to try to hide her cries in her lap, sitting silently like a scolded child, âWhat were you thinking? You just got back into the field today, you could have been hurt, you could have gotten someone else hurt-â
âI know, I know, Iâm sorry,â She sniffled, her expression truly guilty, because everything he was saying was exactly true, she could have gotten him shot. âI didnât think, I wasnât thinking, I just was worried thatâŠâ She trailed off, her heart rate spiking when the words almost slipped from her tongue. She couldnât tell him, not like this.
âWhat?â Spencer pressed, because he didnât like the look of whatever had just passed over her face, and she shook her head in denial, âBug, tell me,âÂ
âNo, I canât,â Her breath clogged in her chest, coming out in a shaky rattle, and it was then that he leaned forward even more, trying to dip his head down to catch her eye, "Not like this,"
âPlease tell me,â He begged, his eyes still stinging where another wave of tears threatened to burst at the seam when she shook her head again, her chin pressing down into her chest because he hated this. He hated arguing with her. âIâm sorry I yelled, I didnât mean to, honey, I just got- worried.â
âI know,â She said quietly through another sniffle, rubbing her cheek on her shoulder to dry it, âI know, Iâm sorry I didnât think it through I just,â She took a deep breath, because she knew she needed to tell him, knew there was no more running from it.Â
He lifted a palm to her cheek, his thumb skirting under her eyelashes, and he forced himself together because he could never stand to see her cry, not when it was partially his fault, âWhat?âÂ
âI just canât do this without you,â She murmured, her heart in her throat, and it only made it difficult to swallow. She chanced a look at Spencer, his eyes wet and red and worried as she continued, âI canât be the one to tell this kid their dad died because I didnât do anything,âÂ
âWhat..â He started, his brows immediately falling into a frown as he looked at her. She swore she could hear every single contraction of her heart muscles in her ears, the blood rushing through her veins making it sound like waves crashing on a shore right in her eardrum.Â
âItâs still fixable,â She jumped in, before he could say anything, like she needed to justify immediately what sheâd said, or even just talk to fill the silence because she hated not knowing what he was thinking, âItâs only five weeks along, I still have time to⊠fix it-â
âFive weeks- you-youâre pregnant?â Spencerâs eyes were wide, with horror or shock she had no idea, nor did she want to find out judging by the way he had turned pale, reading between the lines, âW-What- fix it? Is that what you want to do?âÂ
She stopped, because he seemed to be keeping a lid on his emotions, trying his hardest to sound calm and somehow that made it all the more worse. Because she would rather him get angry, or get frustrated and tell her this was too soon, or tell her there was no way he was ready to be a father, because at least then the pressure of it wasnât on her back to decide for both of them.Â
But he would never, and she didnât know why sheâd ever second guessed him. He wasnât yelling, or turning away, or leaving her the second things got tough, because it was Spencer. And Spencer would never. Spencer gave her the choice of what she wanted to do.Â
She stopped, her lungs suddenly feeling just that bit tighter, as she shrugged pitifully, and she thought this was perhaps not the most ideal way to tell someone youâre pregnant, âI-I donât know, I thinkâŠâ She stopped, because what did she think? Sheâd been so wrapped up in worrying about what Spencer would think, worrying about his mom and her nightmares and Cat God Damn Adams that she hadnât even let herself entertain the thought of a little them.Â
But if she said she didnât like the idea of a little boy with Spencerâs hair and glasses and smile, if she said she couldnât see the photo album his mom had handed her full of pictures of their kids butt naked and watering the flower beds, she would be a liar.Â
âI think⊠it would take a lot of work, I mean itâs a baby for christ sakes, Bugsy, of course itâll take work,â He nodded slowly as she chided herself, but she felt his hands tighten on hers, and the tiny gesture gave her the encouragement she needed. She took another breath, that boy with brown curls and her eyes in a jedi costume flashing through her head, âBut.. I think having a mini you is everything I could have ever wished for,âÂ
His lip quivered for a minute, and she worried sheâd said the wrong thing. And thenâŠ
He smiled, wider than sheâd ever seen him, like she could count every single one of his teeth, and she copied him despite the way a frog leapt into her throat, and she saw his eyes line with a fresh set of tears.Â
âReally, weâre really doing this?â Spencer asked, quietly, like someone could hear them, or perhaps he couldnât believe himself even as he said it. He thought his chest was about to explode, thought his heart could never love someone so much as he loved her, thought it would never beat the same way again as it had before heâd been told he was going to have a baby with the woman heâd been in love with for nearly nine years. She nodded, her shy smile turning into something happy, maybe even excited as he pulled her in for an achingly sweet kiss, his hands cupping her cheeks as he kissed her lips over and over and over again, ignoring the salt that trapped in her skin, and he realised then he had started crying just as much as she had. Two wailing saps sitting in their living room, happier than theyâd ever dreamed they were allowed to be. âI love you, I love you, I love you more than anything, I was so stupid, Iâm so sorry I shouted-âÂ
She chuckled, shaking her head, and drawing him back in for a long, silencing kiss, âI was stupid, very stupid.â Bugsy said, the weight lifting off her chest like a dumbbell had been moved, and she could breath again. Because Spencer kissed her like he wanted to merge their bodies into one, like he didnât care for breath anymore as long as he had her lips on his, and she couldnât help think if that was what he thought of her too, âNo more being stupid from either of us. Kidâs got to have at least one smart parent,â
He smiled, enough joy in his eyes to make her think she was handing him the universe. And yet that was exactly how he felt. Like everything he dreamt of as a kid, when he was in his room wishing his dad had stayed because sometimes looking after his mom was tough on a twelve year old, or when heâd held Henry for the first time and thought maybe he wouldnât be terrible at it by the time it was his turn.Â
He looked at Bugsy, the idea of their kid growing inside her, about the size of a petit pois pea at five weeks, and Spencer damn near felt like heâd won the lottery.Â
And all thoughts of Cat Adams were gone from both of their minds, the viper woman she wished she had gotten a good right hook to when sheâd had the chance entirely unimportant now.Â
Because they were going to be a family, more so than they already were. And Bugsy felt as though she couldnât love Spencer any more than she already did, but she could love his baby more than sheâd ever thought possible.Â

what it takes to say goodnight
just him & his girls
warnings: dad!alex, fluff, smut, piv, fingering, mild breeding kink, & so on...
word count: 4.4k
He nearly trips over the cat when he walks in. He mutters curse words to himself before picking Pepperâthe catâup before it runs out the front door. Pepper has always been a calm kitty and she takes well in Alex's arms, though they are full and he struggles through the door before he can finally put everything, including Pepper, down on the floor. She tangles in his legs before running off back into the house.
Alex closes the front door roughly causing one of the magnets that holds a picture of the girls up to fall on the floor loud enough to alert the other residents of the house that he is home.
"Sounds like someone's home," he hears you announce followed by the sudden noise of pattering feet.
He rounds the corner, greeted by two blurs rushing him like linebackers. As always, Willow is quick to talk her mouth going a mile a minute, shouting, "Come look what I made today! Pick me up, daddy, pick me up! Come on!" He can't even keep track of what she is saying most of the time, her mouth going a mile a minute.
Contrasting her twin sister, Wren, his quiet little girl, tugs on his pant leg to get his attention. They've always been this way, even when you were pregnant with them. Willow would kick away and Wren would suck her thumb. Wren speaks when spoken to, preferring to perform motions to express her opinions. Unless it's vegetables, then she cries and yells, "Yuck!"
To combat both girls' interests, he bends down and picks them both up. They are just on the edge of being too heavy for Alex to pick both up at once. But maybe he'll wait until the next birthday to stop doing this. Wren curls into him while Willow hangs off his neck still yapping, "I want mac & cheese for dinner. Mummy said we can so you have to let us. Wen wants it too. Say it, Wen." Willow has always called Wren "Wen." It's adorable and Alex and you can't bear to ever correct it.
Alex turns to Wren, nudging her with a bounce to show her some attention and get her answer. "I want mac & cheese," she says robotically as if Willow trained her to say it.
"Really?" Alex questions. He looks toward you, sitting on the living room rug and watching this exchange. You share a silent laugh with him. You're calm, and he never understands how you managed to hold that through the whole day with the girls. He loves them like nothing else ever but, man, do they tire him out.
"Swear," Willow answers for Wren. "Mummy also said you'd play dolls with us."
You laugh out loud. "I never said that, Will."
Willow thinks otherwise. "Well, maybe you could anyway."
Alex laughs. "We'll see." He feels a strain in his back and decides it's time to put the girls down. Will goes off running back to her toys but Wren hangs on, unable to let go of the comfort. "C'mon Wren. At least let me take my shoes off."
"But you'll come back?" She's completely wide-eyed and worried. Whenever she's in need of reassurance, Alex fears it's his fault. That he went on tour when they were too young and ever since Alex is certain he has caused them abandonment issues.Â
He told you this once, late at night, after Wren had cried for him to not leave her alone in her room. He stayed with her until she fell asleep and would have fallen asleep beside her if you hadn't come to collect him. Under the covers, he told you this fear and regret, at first, you laughed, insisting Wren was just clingy. Alex chose to believe you if only to fall asleep that night. Â
Sometime after midnight, Wren came into yours and Alex's bedroom, tugging on Alex's hand making sure that he was still there, still breathing, still real. Her little whimpers woke you up. Alex hugged Wren to his chest and you ran a hand down the sensitive girl's back. She kept saying, "You were gone. You left." You tried your best to minimize Alex's worries but he felt this fear to be true and a hidden part of him thinks you blame him too.
Alex kisses Wren's plump baby cheek, placing her tiny feet on the wooden floor. "Always," he assured her. She toddles cautiously back to the toys to join her sister.
But then there's one more girl he has to take care of. "Are you going to make me mac & cheese?" You ask, approaching him, and slinging your arms around his neck. His hand finds its rightful place on the small of your back, the one where you always feel an ache when his hand isn't there.
He pulls you closer to him, pressing her body up against his, your faces so close, your noses just barely not touching. "I'll make you whatever you want." His lips pucker expectantly, waiting for yours to collide with them.
"Anything?" You raise an eyebrow.
He relaxes his lips and quirks a smile. "Yeah, I can make you the unicorn-shaped mac & cheese."
"Wow," you laugh, "you really are my prince charming."
He puckers his lips again. "Hurry up and kiss me, would you?" You give in because he's so cute talking about mac and cheese and there's a flutter in his eyes that you can tell means he had a long day so you won't put up much of a fight, especially when he kisses you just right.
You pull away and ask, "Long day?"
Alex shrugs. "I'm where I want to be now. How was it here?" He runs his hand up and down your right arm.
You sigh as you begin to feel the weight of the day"Good. No fights. Wren didn't nap."
Alex throws his head back. "Don't tell me that."Â
That fear ticks away inside him but you grab his hand and squeeze it. "It's not because of you. It allowed me to have Wren & me time considering she's a daddy's girl and Will's constant desire to be the center of attention, but don't tell her I told you that."
He chuckles. "Your secret's safe with me."
"Now come on with the mac & cheese!"
Later, when he's cooking dinner, Wren clings to his leg. Will is singing loudly in the living room and he can hear you clapping along with her.Â
"Mac & cheese?" Wren asks him.
"Almost done," Alex promises, picking her up by the straps of her overalls and depositing her onto the counter. "Would you do today? Did you have fun with mummy and Will?"
Wren simply nods with a smile, which is a good sign, no frowns in sight.
But she tugs away at his heart, making grabby hands for him. She's always been clingy, enjoying the feeling of being held, but he can't help but feel that she's spent the whole day missing him, not able to have any fun.Â
"Do you maybe want to come to work with me tomorrow, honey?" He knows he should ask you about this and Willow will have to come along or she'll throw a temper tantrum but sometimes he thinks Wren needs a little extra love. She doesn't shout for attention in the manner Willow does. Sometimes she needs to be noticed and needs to feel special.
Then, Wren starts doing that happy gurgle-laugh thing. She swings her legs, tiny socked feet hitting the utensil drawer. She nods quickly, completely excited. "I'll have to talk with mummy about it but you and me will do something special. That sound nice?"
"Yeah!" She squeals and claps her hands.Â
Her excitement rubs off on Alex, giving him something to smile about. He nuzzles his nose with hers. He can't get over how precious she is. "Yeah," he repeats, completely content. In moments like this, he doesn't feel like he's completely failed as a parent.
Willow comes walking in, patting her stomach, asking, "Is the mac & cheese ready? I'm 'ungry."
*
Putting the twins to bed can either be the easiest part of the day or the hardest. Wren nearly passes out in the bathtub, running on limited sleep. Willow refuses to stay in bed. When you leave the room, she pops out of bed and starts playing with her toys in the dark.Â
Alex goes in to kiss her goodnight after he lays Wren down and finds her bouncing on her bed. She stalls at the sight of Alex, clear that she has been caught out. "Bedtime, missy," he tells her.
She giggles but plops down on her butt. "I'm not tired," she states like there is simply no argument to be made.
Alex sighs and sits on the edge of her tiny bed. "But I'm tired."
"You can go to bed. That's okay, daddy." She touches his arm like she's reassuring him she'll be fine.
Alex huffs a laugh into his hand. He doesn't want Will to get excited that she's making her dad laugh. "I can't go to bed unless you go to bed. It's the rules."
She closes her eyes and flops down on the bed dramatically, pushing the air loudly out of her pillow. "Fine." She seems like she's making an attempt, but then she opens her eyes wide and demands, "Story first."
He knows you probably read her two stories already and he shouldn't give in but you're in the shower and he'll be waiting all alone in bed for you so why shouldn't he kill some time with one of his girls? "One."
She claps her little kiddie hands. "You can pick," she says like she's doing him a favour.
And she kind of is because if he has to read Goldilocks again, he might lose it. "Rumplestiltskin it is." He's always liked it and he knows Will likes the straw turning into gold part.Â
He picks up the book of the collected Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Part of him can never deny reading the girls (including you) a story. You all do the same thing: cuddle up beside him, lay your head on his arm, point at the pictures, and say a comment on every sentence if only to make reading time just a bit longer. Will curls his fingers around his forearm and falls asleep halfway through the story but he finishes it anyway. Partly because he knows if Will is pretending to be asleep and he doesn't finish the whole thing she'll insist he has to read her another one. (The other part because he loves the story).
You've just exited the bathroom with wet hair and a towel wrapped around you when Alex enters your bedroom. "Everyone went to sleep alright?" You're going through the drawers, looking for pajamas.
"Yeah. Will had me read her another story but she conked out quick."
You smirk. "Will had you read another story or you wanted to read another story?"
He rolls his eyes at you mocking him before admitting, "Both."
You laugh at him, your sweet boy. The house can feel overrun with girls sometimes, even the cat is a girl, but Alex never seems to mind. He likes all the girlish things the girls like. Tea parties and dress-up, although, he did get noticeably a little more excited when the girls started kicking around a football. But then Alex just said, "Girls are better at football anyway."Â
He's better at tea parties than football anyway. He doesn't even try to pretend to lose to the girls when they play 2 v. 1 with him. They are sneaky and tiny and like Pepper does, they wrap around and slide through his legs to kick into his goal. Meanwhile, he thrives at the tea parties, drinking whatever concoction the girls make, even if it tastes like plastic. You always pretend to sip but Alex is the real deal. Always has been.
"Did you miss me while I was gone?" He asks, leaning against the wall, trying to tempt you.
You smile, dropping the towel, leaving you naked in his view for five seconds before you toss a T-shirt over your head. "No, not really."
The T-shirt is red and he's like a bull as he charges toward you, picks you up, and lands both of you on the bed. You're giggling affectionately into the kiss and it's completely loved-up and lovely and you both love that but Alex and you clearly want more. You push him up, off of your lips. "Shut the door."
Sex with the kids can be challenging. Before you did it every time, every surface you could find. Now, you mostly do it at night, rarely in the morning because the girls are always up early. You can't do it every night. Sometimes you can tell the girls didn't fall asleep or you're tired or Alex passed out while you were in the shower.Â
Despite the scheduling-sounding nature of things, sex still seems spontaneous. Like a random gust of wind felt upon the skin. Alex always makes things exciting and after doing it more times than you can count, it never bores. The predictability of it is what makes it so charged, so romantic, so sexual, so loving. You can tell by the thrust of his hips whether he's close or not. He can tell by the furrow of your brow whether he's hitting that spot in you or not. It has always felt right.
He's fast in his steps, locking the door, and pretty much launching himself back onto the bed. He covers you, completely all over you, kissing you, feeling you up. He reaches under your shirt, pushing it up to expose your boobs, but not taking it off. He grabs them, a fistful at first, then just the nipple. He kisses down your neck, over the collection of your shirt's fabric, onto the skin of your boobs, and then the areola, licking over the wrinkles of it before meeting the erected nipple.
There are times when you do devote time to foreplay. Alex loves it. You love it. Both ways. You both have always been reciprocal naturally. You never need to ask the other for more. In fact, more often you ask for less. Like...
"This feels really nice," you tell him, "but I'm tired and I know you're tired so just fuck me, okay?"
"Okay," he agrees, breathing heavily already. He stands to take his clothes off. You don't bother shedding the top. He can fondle your boobs just fine with it still on and it provides an emergency cover if one of the girls walks in.
Alex lays back on you intently, kissing you harshly. You reach down to hold his cock, pumping him a few times before his hand takes over and slides into you. The idea of it is quick but the pace is rocking, not fast, not slow, just right. You furrow your brows and arch up into him. He reaches into the space underneath the arch and holds you, completely skin-to-skin. He lays kisses on your neck in no particular pattern like he isn't even trying to turn you on more, he just wants to do it.Â
You grip the back of his head's hair, clumps in your compressed grasp. "More," you urge, needing just a little more to tip over.
His mouth moves next to your ear, whispering, "Want me to fuck another baby into you?"
It makes you snort a laugh right in the middle of sex. You have to physically stop his hips from moving as you collect your breath. "What? Another set of twins?"
"Yeah. With my super sperm." He's jokingly bragged about that with you since you found out you were having twins. You corrected him and said it was your eggs that made the twins since they're fraternal. He said, "No, it was a really good load, I remember." It's always made you laugh.
"Twin boys now?" You ask.
He shrugs. "Or more girls? I don't mind."
Everything about him is calm, but there is sincerity in all of it. "Are we seriously talking about more kids while you're inside me?"
Alex makes small movements inside you. "Yeah, come on." He leans closer and closer to you. "We make cute kids. The girls are older. I know you want it."
You place your hands on his shoulders. "Right now I just want you so can we do that part before the 9-month part?"
He nods. "Cart before the horse."
You laugh and tug him down into your shoulder. You whisper into his ear as his hips begin to move harder and harder, "Fuck a baby into me."
Alex chuckles and kisses your jugular. He quickens, both of you feeling an ache for release conjuring inside you. He moves harder and pulls your hips to him. He's doing all the work, but he doesn't mind, he likes doing this for you, likes being good for you. That's all he wants to do.
"That feel good?" He has asked this almost every time you've had sex like, no matter what, even after doing this for years, he wants to make sure it's as good as the last time.
You hum in the affirmative, feeling too overwhelmed to talk clearly. Your grip around his neck tightens as you drag him closer down to you. He keeps thrusting into you hard, skin hitting skin sounding across the room.Â
"So fucking tight," he groans into your ear.Â
His pace is quick, erratic, and eager. His breath is heavy and filled with soft grunts. His hands are rough, squeezing on your hips. You know he's holding on for you but you want him to enjoy it too. It doesn't always have to be about you. "Let go," you tell him.Â
But he's hot for it, not rejecting your request like you thought he would. "You want it?" He asks.
You nod, fluttering eyes.
"Tell me," he says, pounding deep.
You scrap your nails down his back soothingly. "I want it. Deep in me." He hums, requesting more without saying it. "Fill me up with your cum. Please."
Maybe it's your words, maybe it's how close he was, or maybe it's both, but he cums instantly after, deep inside you, filling you up. He groans and pants into your neck. He rests inside you, holding everything in, while he catches his breath. You comb your fingers through his hair, calming him.
He raises his head so he's looking down on you. "You okay?"
You softly smile, exhaustion hovering over you. "Yeah."
"You don't cum," he comments.
You shrug. "I got what I wanted."
Alex grunts. "God, you're gonna make me cum again."
You push him up, making him hiss at the sensitivity. "Don't," you command.
He pulls out slowly and before you can even say anything, he's got his fingers inside you, keeping all that cum in, making a mess on his finger. It takes you off guard, making you moan instantly. He's quick with everything, knowing you want to go to bed, hoping to release the tension and ease you into relaxation.
His two fingers shove in and out of you rapidly. He curls them just in the right spot, making you moan, "Fuck." His thumb grazes over your clit, just like how he knows to do it. It's messy, the whole thing is a mess, but it feels like the hottest thing ever, and soon your hips are unable to stay still and you're coming.
It's your turn to catch your breath and he's licking your shared cum off his hands. He makes a face. "I don't think I've ever tasted my own cum."
You reach out and grab his hand, taking the still-dirty finger into your mouth, and licking it clean. "You've made me taste both before."
He kisses your lips before getting off the bed to grab tissues. "Don't act like it was against your will. I recall you liking it."
You sigh, sitting up and fixing your shirt. "We're gonna have to change the sheets."
Alex hands you a few tissues and says, "I'll do it. You clean yourself up." You'll always accept him doing all the work.
*
Itâs three in the morning when a tiny hand shakes Alex awake, and he opens his eyes to find Wren there holding her stuffed teddy bear against her chest, cheeks wet from crying. âI wet the bed.â
âOh,â Alex says, while his heart rate settles. He looks around to get his bearings and finds you out of it to his right, curled up on your side. He blinks the last vestiges of sleep from his eyes as Wren sniffles miserably, and he pushes up to wipe her jaw dry. âHey, itâs okay, baby. It just happens sometimes, alright?â
âBut I'm not âposed to,â she croaks. âIâm supposed to be a big girl now. Iâm sorry.â
âNo, hey,â Alex kisses her forehead. âItâll be fine, come on.â
She holds onto his hand and he leads her into the bathroom, running the water to warm and filling the tub with strawberry-scented bubbles. Once sheâs in, he lets her play with her rubber ducks for a while to calm down. She splashes them and chews on their tails and presses their drawn-on smiles to his cheek as a kiss. "Muah," she says, and he loves her so much it hurts.
He runs a hand over her damp hair. âIâm gonna go fix your bed, okay? Just keep playing.â
Wren nods, so he leaves her with the door wide open and the light cascading into the hall. Strips her bed of the old sheets and carries them over to the wash. When he comes back, sheâs resting her chin against the edge of the tub, waiting for him.
His head tilts, looking down at her big eyes on her little face. âHey, Peanut.â
âHi,â she says, timid. âDo you still love me?â
Alex frowns and sits down in front of her on the cold tile. âWhy wouldnât I still love you?â
âMâno good,â she whispers. âMânot small anymore, and I miss you all the time, andââ
âAlright, hey,â Alex cuts in gently, pushing her hair behind her ears to hold her face, all flushed chubby cheeks. He hates himself. Feels like he has made her feel this way. Made her feel unloved and he'll beat himself up for it every day. Never forgive himself for making her doubt his love. "I know Iâve been gone a lot, and Iâm really sorry, but I miss you the whole time Iâm away. All I wanna do is be here with you, okay? I promise. I love you,â he says, kissing her freckled nose and watching it crinkle up, âso much. I hope you know that.â
She nods, bites her lower lip, and chews. âYou love mummy?â
âYes,â Alex says. âTons.â
âIs tons a lot?â She asks, and he notices her eyes flit over his shoulder, which gives him a pretty good idea of why sheâs asking.
âIt is,â he confirms, glancing behind him and finding you in the doorway, hair thrown up, wearing that ratty old red tee. You grin and lean against the door jamb, eyes soft. âThe better question is: does mummy love daddy?â
You laugh. âTons squared,â she promises. âCome on, itâs bedtime, baby.â
âCan I sleep with you?â Wren asks, anxious.
Alex kisses her cheek. âOf course,â he says and leans around her to pull the drain. You come over to help her dry off and Alex goes to grab her fresh pajamas. You both help her dress because sheâs all sleepy from the warmth of the bath, and sheâd get lost in her shirt if you werenât around. Alex picks her up and carries her to their bed, laying her down between them so they can both hold her.
"You okay, honey?" You ask Wren, running your fingers through her hair, calming her like you do for him.
She nods, her eyes slowly closing, sleep taking her away from you.
Alex kisses her cheek lightly, not wanting to disturb her sleep. "Love you."
You repeat his action, kissing her baby skin cheek. "Me too." But she's already fallen asleep, exhausted from her little life.
You look across at Alex, his eyes cautiously looking over Wren. "Hey," you whisper to him to grab his attention. His gaze meets yours, his eyes solemn, but affectionate. "Love you."
He smiles because that's just what he needs. That's all he'll ever need. "Me too."
*
A hand pushes on your back somewhere around 4 in the morning. You turn around at the expected sight: Willow holding her stuffed teddy bear, thumb in her mouth, scared little eyes.
"What's wrong, baby?" You ask her, reaching out and smoothing back her messy hair.
"I had a night'are." Her voice wobbles. Alex and Wren are still sound asleep. You reach down to pick her up, laying her on your chest and hugging her to you, wanting to keep her safe from all the evil things awakening her.
"Everything's okay," you reassure.
"What's wrong?" You turn to see Alex, alert and worried rubbing his eyes.
"Nightmare."
Willow turns her head to look at her dad. "Oh," she says, "there's Wen. I was scared she wasn't where she was."
Alex reaches his arm over a sleeping Wren and rubs Willow's back, hushing her rapid heartbeat. "She's been in here. She got scared too but she's okay. She's sleeping now."
Willow keeps her voice low, understanding to keep quiet. "I went lookin' for her but she wasn't in her room."
"Why did you go to her room, honey? Why didnât you come in here?" You ask.
"'Cause I always go there when I'm scared. Wen goes 'Everyting's okay' and then I know it will be 'cause she said so." She's so sweet, she hides it sometimes, doesn't like to give it away, she's careful with who she gives it to and you're sure nobody loves someone like Willow and Wren love each other. For that, Alex doesn't have to worry. He knows Willow and Wren will always look out for each other.
You kiss Willow's cheek and slide her carefully next to Wren. The bed is just big enough to fit you all but you have to hold steady to not tip off the bed. The girls are comfortable though and that's all that matters.
"We should sleep in here all the time," Willow says.
You and Alex both laugh quietly at your little girl. "Maybe," Alex says.
"Pep should be here too."
So, Alex goes and gets Pepper.

SUMMARY: Amane runs into the last person she thought she'd meet at the marketplace: Giyuu and his...fiancee...? A/N: Yes this is shorter and honestly I am not proud of the dialogue at the end but I hope dgbthnyuhntbgrbvf is happy with the request! I love the idea of Kagaya viewing all of this as some Taisho era K-Drama WARNINGS: None SUNNY'S TAGLIST: (comment if you wanna be added or removed) @abadonkori @therabbitthatpostthings @ezekieleen @giyuusluht @bisforbuse @dgbthnyuhntbgrbvf MASTERLIST/PREVIOUS FICS
Vegetables? Yes. Fruits? Yes. Ramen? Yes.
These were just a few things Amane had expected to and had seen at the bustling market when she went shopping for tonightâs dinner ingredients with Hinaki and Nichika, alongside shouting salespeople, excitable kids, jewellery vendors, moseying stray cats and strolling couples with intertwined hands that evening, when the dipping sun cast a mellow golden glow over the stalls and heads.
The Water Pillar supposedly on a few days leave as part of a strolling couple with intertwined hands was not what she had expected to see.
The surprise of it all made her stop in her tracks, lingering in front of a vegetable seller. As far as Amane had known Tomioka had returned to Mount Sagiri to see his old sensei for unknown reasons, but she had put it down to homesickness or the like. To think that she would catch him here, of all places, hand in hand with a seemingly familiar young woman, leading her throughout the crowded marketplace and carrying bags full of shopping! Curious.
Amane's eyes trailed after the two, watching as Tomiokaâs partner guided him through the crowds and stopped at stalls to make her selection, more often than not briefly bickering with Tomioka's insistence on paying for everything. They appeared to be buying similar things with her, so Amane surmised they must be planning to have dinner together. As far as she was aware Tomioka had no other family save for his late older sister, and anyhow the two didn't share any resemblanceâŠTomioka rarely socialized with the other Pillars as well, so who could he possibly be out with?
Her daughters continued to pick out the freshest ones, but it wasn't long before they noticed Amane continuously staring off at someone in the crowd with a stunned look in her eyes. Curious indeed; they quickly handed over the money before trying to look for the object of their mother's interest as well. They couldn't stand there forever though, so the two quickly tugged at Amaneâs sleeve and left before they could hold up the line, urging her to carry on with their purchases.
âWait a minute now. I think one of our Pillars is here as well.â
***
âCome on, Giyuu, walk faster! There's still so much left to buy, and the Estate isn't going to stock up on food by itself! Don't tell me you're tired after just visiting my relatives.â You tug at his hand with a playfulness to match the tease in your tone. The only bag he had allowed you to carry (âIf I can do it, I'll do it.â) swung precariously on your arm, but luck always favoured you and nothing dropped out. Maybe some of your luck had rubbed off on him too, because how else could he have scored such a beauty?
He takes a while to reply, but that's only because he's too busy staring at you under the yellow dusk lights. You may not be the most striking figure in the crowd, but Giyuu swears that even if his eyesight were to blur he'd recognise your hair and your kimono anywhere. âThe Kakushi will stock up the moment they find out we're back; I already told you we didn't have to go shopping. And to be fair, your sister sulking was more than I could handle.â
âSulking? Was she?â Your mouth fell open and you glanced back in surprise. âOh, come on, anyone would have an attitude if they found out their sibling was getting married. She got over it anyway!â
You're still leading him towards a particular stall as you ramble on - Giyuu follows, flashing back to said sister's former judmental behaviour towards him. âIs it so bad to come shopping with me? I wanna spend as much time as possible with you before we have to get back to missions.â
ââŠnot arguing with that logic.â Giyuu squeezes past an old lady and her grandchildren to stand next to you. He takes a good look at the stall's colourful goods, surprised. âWhen you said you wanted to buy charms, I thought you meant the bracelet kind and not the superstitious kindâŠ?â
âCharms as in good luck ones.â You eagerly examine the omamori laid out immaculately, oohing and aahing over the intricate designs and wishes, occasionally dangling one by its string for a closer look. âBecause, yâknow, we're getting married and all andâŠugh, I sound so silly right now, butâŠâ
Again, Giyuuâs caught himself focusing more on you than the subject being discussed, but who could fault him, when your eyes lit up ever so prettily whenever you found a charm you liked? Forget the sun - your eyes don't ever set. âI've seen you cry over a kitten on the street. Go on.â
Oops, didn't quite come out as comforting as he'd meant it to beâŠhe pretended to fiddle with one of the floral patterned omamori under your withering glare.
âWe're just still going on missions before the big day, right? So I thought I'd get a pair for you and me toâŠwell, so neither of us miss it.â You shrug, but Giyuu can still see the dread hidden yet written in your face. âSilly, isn't it? I mean, we battle demons nearly every day and I'm hoping some simple omamori will ward it off.â
If Giyuu was a normal person in love he'd say no, it was not silly, it was very cute of you and of course he felt the same. Giyuu was Giyuu however and therefore thought it was very silly indeed, because an omamori a day can't keep the demons away but nevertheless it was very cute and endearing of you.
âI don't think even Kibutsuji himself could stop me from marrying you.â
âAw, thanks, Yuu-kun.â You blow him a kiss that leaves him flustered and hold up two omamori. âLook! This one's wave themed, so if you take this one and I take that one it'll match with our Breathing Techniques!â
He better be marrying you soon or Giyuu would be going after the Demon King himself.
You finished up your bargaining with the stall owner and dragged off your fiance off on your merry way to get the last thing on your shopping list before heading home: salmon, because the three things Giyuu could not survive without was water, salmon daikon and you. He happily lets you, glad to have someone take his hand and lead - he'd be emotionally and literally lost without you. You're going on about some new train of thought regarding tomorrow's mission, when he stiffens, stops short and makes you do the same.
âTomioka-san, how are you? I did not think I'd find you here tonight.â
ââŠâ
âEh-! Good evening, Ubuyashiki-san! We did not think we'd see you here either.â With a nudge to shake him out of his stunned stupor Giyuu hastily bowed as well.
Amane's face quickly shows recognition, calling out your name in suprise. Like her husband she knew all the Corps members by face, yet you were the last person she'd have guessed to be with the stoic Water Pillar. âWhat are you two doing anyways? I didn't realize you two were friends.â
âNo, she'sâŠmyâŠfiancĂ©eâŠâ
Giyuu had rarely seen Amane have anything expressive on her face but ânoticeably startledâ was the only way to describe it. Even her children were looking blankly uncomprehending. âWhy, Tomioka-san, congratulations! Is that why you both took those days off?â
âYes, we went to go visit my family.â The sun had long dipped into the horizon but you brought it back with your infectious smile. Giyuu tightens his hold around your hand, shyly ducking his head at Amane's chuckle. âWeâre hoping to get married soon!â
So many Corps members had died before they could tie the knot, and many Pillars were already considered old for the wedding ageâŠAmane had no doubt Kagaya would be delighted at the news. She offered her warmest look instead. âI'm very happy for you both - I'm sure my husband will of course allow you to take as much time off as you want to have your marriage and honeymoon.â
Your eyes lit up, if they could get any brighter. âIt's very much appreciated, Ubuyashiki-san! But it would be a greater honour if you and your family could attend as wellâŠ? It's a very small thanks for everything you've done for us, but Giyuu and I would really like you all to be there.â
âKagaya and I would be more than pleased to be there. Your Kasugai crow can let us know of the details.â Amane glances up at the sky. âI'll have to go now, but I wish you both a happy marriage ahead. See that you don't let go of such a woman, Tomioka-san.â
Giyuu's so easy to fluster. âI'llâŠtry not to, Ubuyashiki-san.â
He promises to never do in his head though. Giyuu could do without the sun and all the fire in the world as long as he had you to light up his life. He should probably tell you that, now that he's thought of it; marriages that last long are the ones that never run out of romance, right?
You're still smiling when he turns to tell you so, but your eye is twitching at the same time. âHey, Giyuu, did you know that I actually wrote a letter to Ubuyashiki inviting him to come to our wedding some time ago? Did you, by any chanceâŠhappen to lose it after I trusted you to deliver it?â
Oops again.
ââŠno. Maybe. Yes.â
BONUS:
âDid you know that Tomioka and her were already together from the start? You don't seem terribly shocked by what I said.â Amane tilts her head slightly, gaze inquisitive at her serenely smiling husband.
âI did. I didn't realize they were already planning to get married though. We must find a good wedding gift some time.â
Amane sighs half-heartedly. âAnd you didn't think to mention it becauseâŠ?â
âWell, it was sort of like watching your own personal drama being performed.â

DogDay x Reader part 2
A/N: Highly requested so here you guys go! Enjoy!
<----part 1 part 3---->
DogDay led me outside of the Playhouse and back outside into Playcare. A few feet in front of us was a chicken. A tall yellow chicken. Ah, that must have been KickinChicken. âHiya KC!â DogDay was still holding my hand but with his other he waved extremely fast to KickinChicken. âSup DD! Hey, finally got yourself a helper now huh? âBout time dude.â KickinChicken then handed off the kids too, Iâm assuming his helper. His helper also matched him as well. Guess that was the uniform for us working with these...tall animal mascots. Â
Kickinchicken walked up to me and DogDay. âNames Kickinchicken, the cool member of the Smiling Critters.â DogDay laughed when he said that. âGo on Angel, introduce yourself.â I wasnât used to seeing animals so tall, it scared me a little. I held out my free hand to KickenChicken and summoned some courage to talk. Â
âHello, Iâm Y/N or Angel, doesnât really matter what you call me. Nice to meet you.â KickenChicken then slapped my hand with his and started to make a handshake with me. I mirrored his movements to understand this new handshake I was given. âHaha, sheâs pretty cool DD, you got yourself a rad helper.â He then looked at me up and down. âNot bad looking either.â KickenChicken smiled at me. I was going to comment on that, but DogDay beat me too it. âLook at the time! You better hurry along to your group now KC, donât want our little friends upset now do we?â âRight, well nice meeting ya Y/N, weâll chat later.â he spoke as he walked back to his group and helper. DogDay squeezed my hand a bit before leading us to the center of Playcare. âOn with the tour!âÂ
---------------Â
DogDay first showed me the statue in the center. It was all the Smiling Critters. There were eight of them in total: DogDay the leader, Bobby Bearhug the loving one, KickenChicken was the cool one, Hoppy Hopscotch the energetic one, CraftyCorn was the artist in the group, Bubba Bubbaphant the smart one, PickyPiggy the foodie, and lastly there was CatNap, DogDays bestest friend. He supposably makes sure that everyone else gets a good night's rest every day to ensure that they are ready for the next day. Â
Next, we went into the Toy Store. DogDay was tall, so he had to walk on all fours. âThis is where the children can come and buy some sweet toys of yours truly, and the others!â I smiled and looked around. Sure enough there were plushies of DogDay and the rest of the group. There were also some other toys like a blue limp doll, a dinosaur that matched the lamps outside, what looked like a cat and a bee mixed, and other toys. I picked up a smaller version of DogDay and looked at it. âYou said the kids buy these?â âUh-huh! We give them play money to use around here, that way when they get adopted, theyâll know about the real world and how to manage their expenses.â That was smart of them. I set the plushie back down and followed DogDay outside.Â
We then looked at the consoler's office and school. DogDay told me that the consolers office was where the staff would put their belongings in and where parents would go to adopt a child. Only DogDay was allowed in the consoler's office, none of the other Smiling Critters could go in there. Iâm not sure why but I didnât question it. âThe school is where the children spend most of their time. Iâd take you inside so you could meet Miss Delight and her sisters, but I wouldnât want to interrupt her teachings.â âThatâs okay, Iâm sure Iâll get to meet them one day.â Â
---------------Â
It was now naptime for the children which meant that the Smiling Critters could step away and hang out all together and just relax. I was in the consolers office to check out my assigned office. Each helper had their own office to get away to when needed. Outside my door was a card that had âWelcomeâ on the front. I picked it up and walked into my new office. I took a look around, nice office, however what stuck out to me was the big dog bed in the corner. Â
I was about to walk over to it until I heard a knock at the door. I set down the card and opened the door, but no one was there. Suddenly DogDays head popped out from the side. âHiya Angel!â âAh-â I fell back in shock. As I laid on the floor DogDay hovered over me with a worried expression, his sun pendant laid against my chest. âAngel?! Oh gosh Iâm so sorry! Are you okay??!â I did a double-blink and then slowly sat up. âYeah, Iâm fine, I just wasnât expecting that at all.â DogDay then held out a paw towards me to help me to my feet. I took his paw into my hand and once my hand met his paw his tail started to wag. He pulled me up to my feet and got close to me. Â I wasn't used to being this close to anyone, let alone a giant dog so I started to blush. This caught DogDays attention. âAngel your face is really red, are you sick?â I was starting to feel bad, not physically but mentally. I didnât want him to be worried about me. âI-Iâm fine! Really DogDay. So, um what brings you by?â I wanted to change the subject as fast as possible. DogDay then smiled and leaned away from me. âI wanted to see if you liked the card we made!â I went to my desk, picked up the card and opened it. âWelcome newest helper, we hope that this job brings you happiness and joy as we do to our children here. We look forward to working with you, signed everyone.â I did like the letter.Â
---------------Â
Me and DogDay started chatting for a while until out of nowhere, I yawned. âOh my, sorry about that.â Guess I was starting to get a bit tired. âThatâs okay Angel. Thereâs thirty minutes left of nap time; you should rest up!â A power nap did sound good. I nodded and told DogDay that he should go back to his friends, but he shook his head no and picked me up and walked over to the dog bed in the corner. Shouldâve known it was his. Â
âIâd rather spend my free time with you Angel, plus as your boss you have no say.â He stuck his tongue out and booped my nose with his paw. My face got warm again. He then laid down on his bed and laid me in between his front paws. âYou can rest with me Angel; Iâve been told that Iâm a very fluffy pillow.â He was very soft and the smell of vanilla on him was almost like a drug to put you to sleep, and it was working. I yawned once more and closed my eyes. DogDays head rested near me. âRest well my Angel.â was the last thing I heard before drifting off to sleep. Â

Transcript under the cut
Geoffrey: Hey! Check out this little guy.
Bob: Probably one of the cats they let in the church to keep the mice out. Wonder whatâs he doing all the way out here.
Geoffrey: We canât leave him out in the cold. Itâs starting to get cold soon.
Bob: Thereâs no way you think we can sneak a cat in the dorms.
Geoffrey: Iâm pretty sure people have snuck in worse. Besides, weâre doing an act of kindness, right, little guy?
Bob: Does Nancy like cats?
Geoffrey: [nervously] W-why?
Bob: I saw you two being all cozy at the game the other day. Care to share?
Geoffrey: She was just being nice, thatâs all...
Bob: Popular girls arenât just nice for no reason. Actually...popular girls arenât nice at all.
Geoffrey: Sheâs different. Sheâs still the same Nancy Landgraab I knew when we were kids. Kind. Smart. Um, really pretty...
Bob: Oh, boy. Do you hear yourself! You my friend are in l-o-v-e and you should talk to her! Ask her out!
Geoffrey: Ask you Nancy Landgraab? How do I do that?
Bob: Glad you ask. I am a certified ladies man. You just gotta- you know, talk to her! Listen to her when she talks. Ask about her day. Compliment her brain, not just her looks, trust me.
Don: [snorts] You listen to this dickhead and youâll never get laid, Osteer. If you want to hook up with Blondie, I can help you out. Itâll cost you, though.
Geoffrey: Like what?
Don: Room swap. Itâll be easier for my girl to come over without getting caught if I have your room. Dina is friends with the hot blonde chick and sheâll put in a good word. Donât worry, you can tap that before we swap. Deal?
Geoffrey: I donât know... shouldnât I get to know her better?
Don: Weâre saying the same thing, dumbass! Iâll let you in on a secret; Tonight, a couple of us cool kids are sneaking out to a college party. Blondie will be there, and you two can get your freak on. Howâs that?
Geoffrey: I-
Don: Atta boy, Osteer! Donât dress like a dork virgin either.
Bob: [in a baby voice] I think this is a bad idea, Geoffrey! Yeah, couldnât have said it better myself, little guy.
-
Geoffrey: Hey, Nancy. Um. Thanks again for helping me the other day. The only thing thatâs bruised is my ego, honestly.
Nancy: Yes, of course. Iâm glad youâre okay. Sorry about your ego.
Geoffrey: [chuckles] Itâs ok, it should be used to this by now. What are you reading? Can I sit with you before class?
Nancy: Yeah, sure.
Vanessa: She has a crush on Geoffrey? Why didnât she tell me?
Nina: Apparently, theyâre childhood sweethearts. We need you to play matchmaker. If anyone can hook them up, itâs you, VV.
Nancy Narrates: [Ever since that night in my room, Vanessa has been noticeable distant from me. The only thing reaching me was that lost, faraway look in her eyes]
Cassie: Guys...I donât know. What if Sister Agnes decides to do another room check? What am I supposed to say?
Cassie: Iâm just gonna say it- I donât think you should do this. Feels wrong. Lying? I wouldnât even know what to say if someone asks. Nancy, say something-
Vanessa: Jesus fucking Christ, figure it the fuck out! Come on, Nancy.
-
Geoffrey: Do you want to da-
Nancy: Getting a drink.
Vanessa: Hi.
Nancy: Are you mad at me about something?
Vanessa: Why would I be mad at you?
Nancy: I donât know..
Vanessa: Put that down and come dance.

Max Verstappen
â§Wildest Dreams - Taylor Swift
Max was almost always found on the race track, if not in real life then in the simulator with team redline or just solo streaming. It was his comfort zone, what he knew best. Stepping out of that comfort usually had Max counting down the seconds until it was over and he could go back home to you and the cats, but today was different seeing as he had followed you to the studio on this particular winter morning. You were so secretive on the jet ride to London, furiously scribbling in your leather notebook that was falling apart from being under constant strain of ripped out pages, daily use and the odd time that Sassy got her claws on it when it was left out in odd spaces in their home.
"Tell me again why I had to be here today if I am not allowed to hear the new songs yet?" he mumbled with a cheeky grin as he followed you through the door out of the cold and rainy weather, the recording studio was warm at least. Elliot, your producer, got there before them and had boosted the heat in the building to knock the chill out of your bones before what promised to be a long day in front of the mic. "Because we only have one more song to record Maxie, and I want to know what you think of it." You never really meant to be secretive about your music but the nerves of releasing this particular album were leagues higher than in the past since it was your first studio album since you and Max had started dating a year ago.
You met on night two of the European leg of your last tour, Victoria was a big fan of your music and had dragged Tom and Max to your Amsterdam show. His only exposure to you prior to that night had been through the walls of his sisters home when he came to see his nephews but seeing you on stage that night was the nail in the coffin on his single life. Being the world famous racing driver that he was gave him the chance to meet you after the show and the rest was history.
Which led him to where he was today, sitting on the ridiculously comfortable couch behind the production table watching you working on the final piece of the puzzle that would make up your newest record.
"Alright, lets get playback and do a first run through." Elliot prompted you through the microphone that fed his voice through the soundproof booth into your headset. One nod of acknowledgement from you and the playback started, Max could hear the live feed through the speakers for the first time and the drum beat caused him to sit forward with his full attention.
The last thing he was expecting was the lyrics that came out through those speakers,
He's so tall and handsome as hell
He's so bad, but he does it so well
You had always joked about him being your muse since the week you started dating, when you would be on dates and he would see you stop dead in your tracks to pull out that notebook.
Say you'll remember me
Standing in a nice dress
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you'll see me again
Even if it's just in your wildest dreams, ah-ah, ha
He felt the flush in his cheeks and the grin rise on his cheeks before he even had the chance to fully process what was happening. The song you were most excited to show him that you couldn't even wait until the album was finished, it was about him.
After the initial recording session Elliot busied himself with the hundreds of buttons, sliders and dials on the panel in front of him, you crouched to get your water bottle, ready to go again if needed but Max, he couldn't take his eyes off of you even if he tried. When the ok was given from Elliot you crept out from behind the door of the booth with a shy smile on your face as you made your way to stand in front of him, awaiting the reaction of the love of your life.
"so what do you think?"
Max could barely get the words out between the kisses he was peppering all over your face and neck.
"Vic is going to be so jealous I got a song."
â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ:
â§Lando Norris
â§Nonsense - Sabrina Carpenter
Your Vegas show was strategically planned to fall the day before Lando had to be stuck in the paddock all weekend for the first Las Vegas Grand Prix, which led to many of the drivers and their girlfriends to fill up the VIP section of the theatre that housed hundred of excited fans waiting excitedly to see you take the stage.
You and Lando had known each other for years, being in the same year in school up until your GCSE's when he had left to focus on racing and you had moved from England to the states to pursue your music career. You were childhood sweethearts that stood the test of time and the long distance to end up where you are today, both living in Monaco during the off season with you accompanying Lando to each and every race in the last year, spending all your spare time in one of two places, the studio or cuddled up in Lando's arms in the privacy of your apartment. But with your first full studio album skyrocketing you through the charts a world tour soon followed and it had been a few weeks since your schedules had synced up enough to allow you both some real time to spend together. Lando had never been so thankful to have the racing season coming to a close in a few weeks, and with your last 5 shows coming in the following days to wrap up the tour he was ecstatic to have you all to himself for winter break.
His conversation with Oscar and Lily was cut short when the familiar piano notes of 'Emails I Can't Send' ring out through the venue and the screams and cheers of everyone in the room make a dumb grin break out on his face. Your figure appearing on the stage in your iconic tour outfit that Lando was obsessed with, but what made his smile bigger was the slight changes in the style of the outfit that graced your body on the stage, your dress that was usually a hot pink or lavender colour was changed to the oh so familiar papaya colour he knew as his team colours and your white boots had the number 4 emblazoned on them in his iconic neon yellow branding on the chunky heel stem.
The night was electric as he watched you up there, giving the crowd what he would say is the night of their lives as song after hit song was performed with your infectious talent and energy.
Right as the final notes of 'Sue Me' rang out to the crowd he expected the show to end as he knew the set list by heart from being to a few shows at the beginning of the tour, but you weren't leaving the stage and as you started speaking to the crowd his fixed gaze that had been watching you the whole night was broken as he heard the hushed conversation of some of the WAGs that were surrounding him, he barely had time to notice that Alexandra, Lily and Rebecca were looking at him with shit eating grins on their faces and Carlos was recording him on his phone before you stole his attention again.
"So guys, my boyfriend is actually in the crowd tonight." was all you managed to say before the fans cheered, hundreds of faces looking right at him as you let out that beautiful laugh he loves so much before continuing. "Lando is racing in Vegas this weekend and I've been on tour so I haven't been able to see him in like, forever. But the cool thing about that is he hasn't been able to hear this next song, same as you guys."
An unfamiliar melody started to loop through the venue as the cheers of fans kicked up once again. Pure confusion spread across his face as you continued to introduce the new song. "So this is my new single on the deluxe edition of the album and I hope you all enjoy it."
The room was electric as you began to sing, and Lando very quickly realised the reason why everyone of the drivers and their partners surrounding him had the same reaction, because Lando was not expecting to have a song about him drop that very night, but god was he glad it was.
I'll be honest
Lookin' at you got me thinkin' nonsense
Cartwheels in my stomach when you walk in
And when you got your arms around me
Ooh, it feels so good I had to jump the octave
His face felt like it was on fire but his ego was growing by the second.
I'm talkin' all around clock
I'm talkin' hope nobody knocks
I'm talkin' opposite of soft
I'm talkin' wild, wild thoughts
You gotta keep up with me
I got some young energy
I caught the L-O-V-E
How do you do this to me?
The song began to end and the last lines of the outro had Lando impossibly excited for the night to end so he finally got to have you to himself again.
he loves me so good its downright heinous
this songs P1 in my boyfriends playlist
what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas
Oh yeah, he was definitely glad he got you all to himself.
â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ:
Oscar Piastri
â§Human - Dodie
University had been consuming what felt like your entire existence, barely having enough time or energy to apply to anything that didn't involve coursework, especially since you had your contemporary song writing final project due in a few days. Life had consisted of spending days locked away in your dorm room in front of your travel keyboard trying to construct a melody that felt lightyears away from you.
"You can't keep rotting away in there you know, I don't think we will get our deposit back if you melt into the carpet."
Hattie had been your best friend from the day you started preschool, your entire lives had been spend joined at the hip, you were unable to be separated in your younger years, down to the first days of school every year which were spent in the Piastri home's kitchen eating a breakfast that Nicole had made while you and Hattie chattered so loud that the whole house was brought to life with your laughter. Your tight bond had extended to today, where you both sat in the shared kitchen of your university housing, cups of tea decorating the table along with a pair of laptops and more sheet music blank than filled.
This had easily become the hardest assignment of your degree for you, where Hattie seemingly had no issue and was just finishing the arrangements of her own work before she got to submit her assignment and go home for summer break, you on the other hand felt like smacking your head against the wall, your fractured concentration being split even further by the commentary coming from your phone that was propped up in front of 6 crumpled pieces of composition paper, the Spanish Grand Prix well underway on the other side of the world, where Hattie's brother (who just so happened to be your boyfriend) was in the final laps of his race weekend.
"I know, I cant for the life of me figure out what's wrong. Nothing I've written feels good enough and I really don't want to fail this assignment. The last thing I need is to be back here in three months to repeat this class."
The voices that seeped from your phone announced that with that final lap the race was over and glancing at the chart that took up the left side of the screen a smile broke out on your face. Hattie let her curiosity get the better of her as she rounded the table to watch over your shoulder. "P2, He will be happy with that."
Your whole body itched for a change of scenery after a further 30 minutes with no progress so while Hattie started on dinner for you both you slipped on a jacket and stuffed your notebook into your pocket, heading outside for some fresh air. The weather had cooled only slightly compared to the usual stifling Australian heat which allowed you to sit under the awning of the bike sheds outside the building. Your phone rings not 2 minutes after you settle into a comfortable position, a the familiar contact flashing on the screen as you swipe to answer.
"Congratulations on your podium, Osc." Your words rang out through the empty courtyard as familiar breathing was heard in your ear, the boy you had loved since your childhood clearly having settled in his drivers room after his race. "Thank you, how is your assignment going? Still giving you trouble?" Your audible groan at the mention of the demonic workload hanging over your week was met with warm laughter on the other end of the phone. "That bad huh?"
"I don't know why but I haven't been able to focus enough to even get a melody going, everything I've tried sounds like it was written by The Wiggles." The snort of laughter that rang through her ears eased the stress that held her body hostage by the second and her own laughter broke out to match. "Hey, everyone loves The Wiggles, I think you would make a very cute Wiggle personally."
Oscar's words had her breaking up laughing this time. "Yeah, you would say that." Her voice taunted him over the line, memories flooding her mind of the ridiculous stories that Nicole had told her when she and Oscar had first gotten together when he came back after graduating from his British boarding school, about Oscar being five years old and in love with the Yellow Wiggle at that stage in his life. "I know you can make something amazing, everything you write is so incredible but you need to be kinder to yourself love, you're only human after all."
Oscar's advice rang through her mind as she ended the call with him, his presence being required to go to his post race debrief before he could go to the airport to fly back home to start the summer break with her. Before she could blink the floodgates in her mind finally let loose the creativity that she had been craving since she began the writing process a week ago. Sprinting up the stairs she had just enough time to grab the bowl of spaghetti Hattie had prepared her with a rushed thank you thrown over her shoulder.
An hour and a half later she finally submitted the dreaded assignment and packed her microphone away with the rest of her minimal recording equipment, quickly attaching the audio file to a text and sending it to Oscar before the night caught up with her and she drifted off to sleep in the navy blue OP81 hoodie that she wore to death.
The next morning was hectic, full of packing and cleaning as both girls got ready to pack up Hattie's car and get on the road, with the semester finally over and the promise of a few weeks on the road with Oscar melting the last of her stress. In the chaos of the morning she didn't get to check her messages until noon, where she was met with two texts, one from Logan and one from Oscar.
Oscars message was opened first, a quick 'I knew you could do it <3' sent in the middle of the night, considering the time difference it must have been when he was getting on his flight. The message from Logan showed a video of Oscar sitting on the plane, her voice playing through the speakers of Oscars phone as he stared at it with pure adoration in his eyes.
I want to give you your grin So tell me you can't bear a room that I'm not in Paint me in trust I'll be your best friend Call me the one This night just can't end Oh Oh, I'm so human We're just human
â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ: â§ïœ„ïŸ:
George Russell
â§Bewitched - Laufey
"Remind me why I'm doing this again, this feels like something that I shouldn't be allowed to do."
The ball of stress that stood in front of George pacing in a midnight blue evening gown would have been the funniest thing in the world to him if he was looking at anyone in the world other than you, his beautiful girlfriend who looked about 3 seconds away from passing out. This seemed like an appropriate time as any for you to suddenly develop stage fright, because you were used to busking on the streets of London with your guitar in your teenage years, eventually moving up to small, intimate gigs in your early 20s to crowds that seemed smaller than a classroom, this was in a whole different ballpark. George met you when you both attended a charity event three years before that was funding for sick children across the UK, part of what drew him to you was your unwavering confidence that you walked through life with, he supposed that musicians had to be born with a certain level of audacity but you were unlike anyone he had ever met before, which is why your anxious behaviour was such a shock to the system.
It eventually became too much for George to take as he stood from his seat in the dressing room and held you firm by the hips, halting you from burning a permanent line in the ridiculously expensive carpet that lined the floors. That seemed to do the trick as you finally managed to take a deep enough breath to ease the tension in your body long enough to look him in the eyes. "What if it's shit Georgie?"
Your statement pulled a chuckle from him before he he could think to stop it. "Impossible love, you've never been shit at anything you've ever done." His reassurance sent a visible comfort through your body as the rest of your muscles relaxed. "Except for padel, you are brutal at padel." George took the laugh that lit up the room as a good sign, god he loved your laugh, he once described it as reminding him of sleigh bells at Christmas which got a good laugh out of Lando and Alex, they still hadn't let him live it down, not that he minded much.
The knock at the door sent your body rigid once more as the stage hand that had been sent for you poked his head around the door to give you a 5 minute warning until you took to the stage. It was unlike anything you had ever done before, George supposed that being invited to perform at one of the most prestigious concert halls in the UK was daunting to begin with, but being asked to perform at their anniversary celebration that was being attended by what seemed like every important person they could think of, royalty included, well George was impressed that this was the extent of your nerves. A big deal indeed.
"You'll be watching me the whole time?"
Your request was endearing if unnecessary, because there were very few moments in his life now that George was not totally enraptured by you, he had been the muse of many memes in his time but his favourite had to be all the times that journalists and fans alike had compiled evidence of the many times that George was probably supposed to be paying attention to something, a meeting, a conversation, but his eyes never left you. "I'll be in the wings the entire time my love, now go, break a leg."
Heavy velvet curtains hid him from sight as the lights faded on to reveal you, centre stage and framed by a beautiful orchestra. The polite applause was so different from the screams of fans that he was used to hearing on a race weekend, but it set the tone as the orchestra began to play, now George was familiar with pretty much every song you had ever written due to how often your voice could be heard through your shared home, but this song was completely new, you had kept it under lock and key deeming it a surprise. As your voice joined the strings and woodwinds he began to realise that this was a wonderful surprise indeed.
You bewitch me Every damn second you're with me I try to think straight But I'm falling so badly, I'm coming apart You wrote me a note, cast a spell on my heart And bewitched me Bewitch You bewitched me
As the audience broke out into thunderous applause and you took your bow, George took a moment to pat the small square box in the pocket of his suit jacket, the box that held the promise of forever.
Bewitched was the only word word to describe him.

Logan Sargeant
â§Pancakes for Dinner - Lizzy Mc Alpine
In the last few years Logan had been away from his family and friends during the Fourth of July weekend. It was never easy, he spent most of his childhood surrounded by all the people he loved most, with barbecue food and football on the beach filling up the day, the celebrations starting early in the morning and ending with the insane firework display at night. They were some of his favourite memories, the ones that comforted him on the days and nights when his career started to feel like a noose around his neck that tightened with every race weekend that didn't go according to plan.
Which is why he was so happy that this year, the race calendar perfectly bordered his beloved holiday, with Austria ending mere hours before he found himself on a flight back to Florida to celebrate on his week off before Silverstone. Seeing his family was a welcome reprieve from his hectic life, but seeing you was the cherry on top of a perfect week.
The firepit that roared at the beginning of the night had died down to a comforting glow, the beach behind his family home now empty apart from you and him, the rest of the guests gone inside to continue the festivities in the house. "It's good to have you back Lo, I miss you a lot when you're off living the dream" your voice carries across the space between you as you messed with the guitar that sat on your lap, beer forgotten at your feet as you strummed random chords. You had always been his best friend ever since you both met at a karting track as kids, he used to race with your brother before he decided that baseball was his calling, but you and Logan were attached at the hip until he left to move to England to take his career to another level. Now your friendship consisted of facetime calls, battling with time zone differences instead of a 10 minute walk to your house. "You should agree to come to more races then, you know you're invited to basically every one right?"
In reality he knew that globetrotting with him to a new country every fortnight wasn't that simple. You were a veterinary nurse in Florida and he was a racing driver, both of your schedules too hectic to allow for any real time spent together that didn't involve him making the trip back to his hometown. "You really want to put me and your boss on the same continent, I'm too pretty to go to jail!"
The two of you busted up into laughter at the idea of James Vowels being unfortunate enough to be close enough to you that you could finally give the man a piece of your mind. "I do miss Lily though, so might have to take some time off for Austin this year." The fake offended noise that left his lips made you laugh hard enough that Logan was sure his neighbours could hear you. He was sure that the only bond that could rival the one you shared with him was the one that you held with his teammates girlfriend, the fact that you had spent more time at the golf course with Lily this year than you had seeing him face to face sparked emotions in him that he wasn't quite ready to acknowledge.
"What are you playing there?"
The sly smile that crept up onto your face, illuminated by the firelight made his heart stutter, your answer didn't betray your emotions as you started strumming the melody more clearly.
"I wrote you something."
Logan swore his pulse started up in double time as you met his eyes. You had played guitar since you were eight years old but your own songs had been secret for as long as he can remember. But something in the moment caused you to let him into a part of your life he was sure he would never see.
"Play it for me."
The world around them was muffled and felt a million miles away as you nodded before training your eyes on the black ocean in front of you both. Lyrics flowing from you before you changed your mind.
I wanna eat pancakes for dinner I wanna get stuck in your head I wanna watch a T.V. show together And when we're under the weather we can watch it in bed I wanna go out on the weekends I wanna dress up just to get undressed I think that I should probably tell you this In case there is an accident And I never see you again So please save all your questions for the end And maybe I'll be brave enough by then
Laughter from the house behind you both broke the electric energy that filled the air.
"So? What do you think?"
Logan could only hope his kiss was worth a thousand words.

Alex Albon
â§Juno - Sabrina Carpenter
There wasn't a person alive that believed the joke that Alexander Albon was the biggest WAG in the world than the man himself. While he spent his days driving his Williams car in the midfield of the F1 grid he was more than aware that you kissed him good morning every day you spent together, only to go and play a sold out concert to a stadium of adoring fans, of which Alex was your biggest.
He still found himself pinching his arm whenever he saw you, either on stage playing the global superstar or in the comfort of your own home playing with your puppy Juniper. It seemed uncharacteristic of him when he slid into your DM's one night after seeing a concert with his sisters, but fate apparently had his cards picked out in his favour when you visited a race a few weeks later as a guest of Red Bull and he got to meet you in person, the rest was history as you had been dating the Thai driver ever since.
The distance wasn't always easy but this particular summer break lined up perfectly with the end of the US leg of your most recent tour, which is how you both ended up spending your three week break in Bali, completely wrapped up in each other with no work interruptions.
Until today that is.
His place in your shared bed gave him the perfect view of you pacing the balcony of the villa that had been rented for the duration of your stay. His eyes easily following your body as it appeared in the doorway before disappearing just as quick, back and forth as you spoke to your management team on the phone, a call which was hitting the forty minute mark, causing his patience to wear thin. Luckily just before the call was about to hit an hour in length you ended it and your figure bounding back into the room caused him to sit up against the headboard. You grabbed your laptop from your bag before sliding back into bed, lips meeting his before you settled in and began furiously searching through the files on your desktop.
"what part of vacation do they not understand?" he groaned, his face finding the crook of your neck as you let out a laugh, nudging his side.
"That was Marcus, Short and Sweet drops in an hour."
Alex could feel the excitement vibrating through your body. Your most recent album had been in the works for months and while he usually got to live through the entire process with late night writing sessions and studio visits between races, you had been oddly secretive when it came to this one. He was excited for you, he loved your voice and your music was what had brought you together so seeing you continue to make the music that made you so happy made the challenges that came with your relationship worth it.
A soft "aha" pulled him out of his daydream as you pulled up the folder that contained the songs. He sat up again, ready for the full listening party that he was so used to at this point. Which is why his proud grin turned a tad confused as you dragged the cursor down to the third to last track on the album, his question died on his tongue as you pressed play on the file titled Juno (A.A<3) and the music started to pour through the speakers of your laptop.
Oh, I know you want my touch for life If you love me right, then who knows? I might let you make me Juno You know I just might (Might) Let you lock me down tonight One of me is cute, but two though? Give it to me, baby You make me wanna make you fall in love
His ears burned as the song ended and by the look on your face he was reacting exactly how you wanted.
"So? What do you think?"
Your laptop tumbled onto a stray cushion that found its way onto the floor, as he tackled you back onto the sheets. laughter filling the room.
Thank god for the end of the tour.

hiiii abi! hope youâre doing well <3 number 11, pls? thank you!
But I knew you Playing hide-and-seek and Giving me your weekends, I I knew you cardigan by Taylor Swift
âââââ ââ
ââ
â âââââ
âLILY!â
Lily pauses mid-brush, her toothbrush dangling precariously from her mouth.
âHuh?â she calls back.
âTHE DOOR, LILY!â Petunia shouts from the living room. âHEâS BEEN KNOCKING FOR FIVE MINUTES STRAIGHT.â
The toothbrush clatters into the sink as Lilyâs lips curl into an irrepressible grin. She snatches it back up, spits hastily into the basin, and barely wipes her mouth before bolting out of the bathroom.
Never mind that Petunia is exaggerating about the length of time Lily was even in the bathroom, let alone how much time heâs been knocking. Never mind that Petunia could be a decent human and open the door herself. Never mind that Petunia thinks the only crime worse than having magic like Lily is having magic and choosing to date Lily.
She grabs a cardigan from her bedroom, sliding her socks across the polished hardwood as she skates toward the front door. Practically leaping into her trainers, she pulls the door open with a flourish.
âBye, Tuney!â Lily sings, tossing the words over her shoulder.
From the living room, Petunia glares at her over the top of her book. âMake sure that horrid boy has you back byââ
Lily slams the door shut, cutting off the rest of her sisterâs decree. Sheâs already beaming at the boy standing on the doorstep.
âHi, horrid boy,â she says.
âHi, gorgeous girl,â James replies with a grin, leaning in to kiss her. Her back bumps against the door, and she wonders idly if Petunia can hear. She has half a mind to twist the knob just to see the reaction, but the thought vanishes as Jamesâs lips move against hers, and her heart swells.
âHowâs the lovely Petunia Evans?â James asks once he pulls back enough to get a sentence in, his voice warm with humour.
Lily snorts. âDreadful. Vernonâs away on business.â
âHow very important of him.â
âSo she has extra free time to degrade all my life choices.â
âWell you do make so many bad ones,â he says, smirking. He takes her hand and starts to pull her down the steps from Petunia and Vernonâs new house on Privet Drive.
The neighbourhood is pristine, posh in a way that feels entirely at odds with the modest home and warm childhood they shared in Cokeworth. Lily glances back at the house, a pang of resentment flaring at how much joy Petunia seems to find in separating herself from their parentsâ memory.
âYou know,â James says, swinging their joined hands between them, âIâve been thinking. It doesnât make sense for you to stay with them.â
Lily laughs. âIt makes perfect sense, actually. Considering I donât have, you know, a single pound or galleon to my name.â
He rolls his eyes. âBut Iââ
âJames.â
âI know, I know,â he says, sighing. âBut what ifâwhat if it wasnât my money?â
She frowns, slowing her steps. âAre you planning a bank job?â she asks dryly. âBecause Gringotts is rather tight on security these days. Something about a Dark Lord. Not sure if youâve heard of him?â
âWhat if it was our money?â
She stops completely, tugging on his hand to halt him too. Her stomach flips as she looks up at him, her voice quieter now. âWhat?â
âI meanâŠâ He scratches the back of his neck with his free hand, his cheeks tinged pink. âI mean, if we were married, then itâs all the same thing, right?â
âIf we were married,â she echoes, the words tumbling out as her mind races.
His blush deepens, and he chuckles nervously. âItâs just⊠just a thought.â
âWeâre eighteen,â she says faintly.
âYeah,â he shrugs, but she doesnât miss the way his face falls the slightest bit in disappointment, even as he tries to stay casual. âI know.â
âWe wouldâŠâ She swallows, her heart pounding. âWe would just get a house andâand live there? You and me?â
He nods, then grins slightly, his tone softening. âI mean, the cat could come, too.â
âStella,â she corrects automatically. âShe would be our cat after all, wouldnât she?â
Her lips twitch upward despite herself. Of course sheâs thought about this. Of course she plans to spend her life with him. But imagining a nebulous, distant someday is wildly different from considering it now, on the pavement of Privet Drive, with his hand warm in hers.
âIf we got married, sure,â he says, his grin growing.
âThis is a rubbish proposal, Potter,â she says, though her cheeks ache from the smile breaking across her face.
He throws his head back and laughs, the sound full and unrestrained. âWell, I didnât plan on doing it today,â he admits. âI justâŠreally, really dislike your sister.â
âIf thatâs the onlyââ
âAnd,â he interrupts, grabbing her other hand and turning fully toward her, âI really, really love you and canât remember a time I didnât have the thought of marrying you bouncing around in the back of my head.â

THE PURRR-FECT APPROACHâ©àŒ¶â§Ë
GENRE + T/W: sfw, fluff. WORD COUNT: 2.0k words. TAGS: satoru gojo x fem!oc, boyfriend!gojo, established couple. adoptedkiddo! tsumiki.
SYNOPSIS: tsumiki wants to get a pet cat, so she devises a plan with satoru on how to ask oc gojo girlfriend for one. AUTHOR'S NOTE: i was inspired to write this after seeing this picture. REMINDER: if you want to imagine yourself in oc gojo girlfriend's character descriptions instead, please do!
âyou want to get a cat?â satoru asked in surprise. his blue eyes peeking through his sunglasses to look at his 10 year old adopted daughter.
âyes! i promise i'll take care of it!â tsumiki said with her hands intertwined together tightly. âi will use my allowance to buy everything it needs! iâll make sure to clean the litter box too!â
now, satoru gojo wasnât one to say no. especially if tsumiki, his golden child, was asking. you already had two demon puppies in the house due to megumi's shikigami. the hurdle was getting you to agree on getting a cat too.
âyouâre gonna have to ask (y/n). you know she makes the rules in this household.â satoru sarcastically said.
coming up with a plan, tsumiki asked her guardian, âgojo-sensei. can you like⊠sweeten her up a little bit? like buy her flowers or give her a big kiss before i ask? oh, how about you guys go shopping before i ask? (y/n) has been wanting to buy a new work bag, but she's been busy.â
satoru smiled at the fact that his adopted children could be so cunning and smart. but then again, they were raised by intelligent you and guileful him.
âgotcha.â he winked at the 10 year old. âwhat time does the boss come home today?â gojo looked at the family calendar on the kitchen wall.
you both had a routine down after work. today was your turn to assist megumi with his after school activities. megumi had a school book club that both you and satoru supervised. you also both took turns with jujutsu training at the high school dojo. it was satoru's day to be in charge of dinner.
âboss comes home at 6:30!â tsumiki sprinted back to satoru, who was sitting on the couch, arms hanging along the backrests. she jumped on the couch to sit next to him.
âwhy donât we start dinner? so when (y/n) and megumi come home, theyâll be in a good mood.â the blue eyed sorcerer suggested. he knew that you and megumi would be annoyed if dinner wasnât ready by the time they got home. he could hear your voice in his head scolding him, âwhy did you wait until we got home to start cooking?â
âoh, youâre right. those two get angry when theyâre hungry.â
"i think thatâs called hangry, sweetheart.â satoru chuckled as tsumiki went to the kitchen to open the fridge to start dinner.
later that evening
"we're home!" you called out as you and megumi took off your shoes in the foyer. megumi took off his backpack and sighed. you put down your work bag and ruffled his hair, your eyes hidden by a cheeky smile.
"looks like you got roughed up, kid." satoru teased from the kitchen as he saw a couple scrapes on megumi's knee and cheek.
"don't worry about it, (y/n) used her reversed cursed energy to heal me and we made sure to see shoko before we left." he avoided eye contact with him. megumi knew that jujutsu training would be difficult, especially when he was training with the two strongest sorcerers known to man.
"he did really well today." you reported to satoru as he walked towards you and gave you a welcome home kiss. he hugged you as he winked at megumi behind your back.
"what's for dinner?" megumi ignored satoruâs teasing and walked towards his sister. tsumiki happily replied, "katsu and curry."
tsumiki set the table for the four of you. at the little dining table, the seating arrangement was that satoru sat across from megumi, and next to you and tsumiki. megumi preferred to sit next to you anyways, and it was only right that the two guardians that were so in love with each other sat next to each other. (the real reason was that megumi threw his grape juice at satoru during dinner once, which hit his infinity, which means grape juice stained your expensive rug. so they weren't allowed to sit next to each other at dinner anymore.)
"tsumiki, how was your day today?" you asked as you cut into your katsu. satoru seemed like he wanted to say something.
"aren't you going to ask how my day was, babe?" satoru interrupted.
"you can wait." you glared at him. you liked to hear about the kids' day.
you smiled and winked at tsumiki as she got your que to continue, "it was good! we learned about cats today."
"that's great, sweetheart!" you nodded as you scooped a spoonful of curry and rice into your mouth.
"(y/n), tsumiki wants to get a cat." megumi flat out announced. you and satoru choked on your food, surprised but not surprised at megumi's straightforwardness. satoru cleared his throat and started laughing.
"why do you want to get a cat? we already have kuro and shiro." you wiped your mouth with a napkin, clearing your throat while looking at her.
"that's the reason why! megumi has not one, but two dogs... i want a pet too!"
now, you were all for fairness, and she did put up a good point. megumi could summon his demon dogs whenever he wanted and they kept him company. if tsumiki could watch satoru on his days off without getting into trouble, she was definitely responsible enough.
"please, (y/n), pretty please? i told gojo-sensei that i would pay for everything and clean the litter box." tsumiki got out of her chair to dash to your side, grabbing your hand to plead.
you bit your lip in hesitation and looked at satoru, he just smirked at you and nodded his head in approval. ultimately, it was up to you. "okay, sweetie. you have to keep up your end of the deal though."
tsumiki cheered and jumped up and down. she hugged you tightly. "thank you so much! you're the best, (y/n)! i promise i will!"
"satoru will take you first thing in the morning, now finish your dinner." you announced.
"hey! but it's my day off!" satoru complained as you looked at him smugly, blowing him a kiss.
the next day
during work, satoru teleported into your office. it used to scare you, but now you were used to it. you could sense that man's cursed energy from a million miles away.
"when's your break?" he asked while sitting on your desk, looking around in your office. he leaned over and looked at the picture frame on your desk, it was a picture of tsumiki and megumi on their first day of school, a couple months after you and satoru had taken them in. they were so small at the time.
"right now." you shut down your laptop and smiled at him. he walked over to you, intertwined your arms and gave you a kiss. he quickly clasped his hands together and you felt a huge whoooosh!
you closed your eyes and took a deep breath before you almost shot his face with a huge stream of water with your cursed technique. you grit your teeth and put your hand down because you knew it would only hit his infinity. he loved to do this.
"satoru gojo! why did you teleport us away from the school?!" you yelled at him.
he just laughed and pushed you into the pet store where tsumiki was looking at the kittens. "i thought it was only right that both of her guardians were here for this moment."
you rolled your eyes at him while you walked over to tsumiki, hand in hand. "i brought (y/n) so she wouldn't miss this. did you choose which one you wanted?" satoru asked the smiling girl.
"yeah, i want the white one with blue eyes!" she pointed through the glass.
the pet shop owner picked up the kitten and put it gently in tsumiki's arms. the kitten purred as you watched by satoru's side. you could feel yourself smiling again, forgetting that satoru just teleported you away from the school without your permission.
"can you make sure to add in everything a kitten needs?" satoru asked the pet shop owner, flashing his handsome smile, sunglasses sliding down his nose, showing his beautiful blue eyes. the shop owner nodded their head with a shy smile and made sure to grab everything tsumiki needed to be a responsible cat owner. you scoffed at his ridiculous ways of trying to charm people. it may or may not have worked on you when you were both in high school.
you looked at your watch, you had 2 minutes to be back at the school before principal yaga would chew you out for leaving work. "my break is over, satoru. you need to teleport me back to the school. tsumiki, i'll see you at home, sweetheart." you kissed the top of her head as she smiled with the kitten in her arms.
"so bossy..." satoru mumbled while he looked at you.
the two of you stepped outside, satoru drew his teleportation symbol into the ground around you. you grabbed his jaw roughly with your right hand to pull him in, you glared at him and kissed him goodbye before he flashed a shit-eating grin at you. he clasped his hands together to teleport you back to jujutsu high.
back at the apartment
"so, kiddo, whatcha gonna name your new cat?" satoru asked as he placed a big department store shopping bag on the ground next to all the cat supplies. tsumiki's new white kitten laid in her arms, purring.
"i'm naming it catoru!" she smiled brightly.
"are you naming your cat after silly ol' satoru gojo?" satoru asked with a huge smile on his face. him and catoru were twins after all, white-haired and blue-eyed.
EXTRA:
"you didn't use the card that's linked to the kids' bank account, did you?" you suspected as you and satoru watched from the couch. tsumiki and megumi admired catoru as it slept in it's little home scratch post. megumi's demon puppies were also watching the kitten curiously next to him, tails wagging furiously.
"not at all." satoru softly said as he brushed your hair behind your ear to sneak a kiss on your temple. he made sure he swiped his own card at the pet store.
whenever purchases were made for the kids, you and satoru would pay for things instead of using their financial aid money that satoru received from the school. they deserved to have whatever they wanted without the worry of finances, both you and satoru made sure of that. it wasn't like you needed the money since you both came from very well-off clans.
"i hope you do the same when we go shopping on sunday." you joked with him, gently slapping his chest.
he chuckled, "don't worry, baby. hey, tsumiki!"
tsumiki turned to look over at her guardians, her brown ponytail flowing in the air, "yes?" she replied.
"can you go get the thing?" satoru asked her sweetly with his eyebrows raised. she nodded her head and ran into her room to grab a shopping bag. satoru sat up from the couch, you looked at them with confusion on your face.
"this is for you, (y/n)!" tsumiki cheerfully handed you the shopping bag.
"you. did. not." you looked over at satoru excitedly. he had his signature shit-eating grin. it was one of your favorite smiles to see on his face.
"open it, babe." he urged you to look into the shopping bag. you squealed as the kids came over to see what you were freaking out about. you pulled out the designer bag that you had been wanting since the start of the new school year. it was your little personal tradition to get a new work bag every year, but you had been so busy with work that you haven't had the time to buy one.
your eyes were entranced by the black leather and gold designer emblem. you tried on the bag by putting it over your shoulder, playfully posing with it as satoru and tsumiki smiled brightly at you.
megumi looked at the bag and quietly said, "that's the bag she wanted? it's ugâ" tsumiki shoved an elbow into his side and muttered, "shut up, (y/n) likes it."

hard to desire âš kenma k.
chapter one
can I call you tonight? dayglow
âThere's so much time
For me to speak up, but I keep quiet
I'll complicate most of the mantraâ
next chapter
"This is the coffee shop that I was telling you about," Kuroo gestured towards a small building that seemed to have a theme of dark academia and books.
The cafe didn't seem all that bad, you thought. It would be the perfect place to study before a huge exam, the tall windows which showed the beautiful inside were not forgettable.Â
"It looks so pretty. Do you come here often after class?" You questioned as the little bell rang when Kuroo held open the door for you. A wondrous smell of coffee, books, and spice wafted into your nose. It could have been a bit overwhelming if you hadn't loved the scent.
It almost brings you to your favorite season of them all, which is definitely autumn.Â
"No, only once in a while. This place is kind of pricey, but it gives good beverages and great seats." Kuroo chuckled, looking down at you as you scoured the menu. There were definitely a lot of choices to choose from and yet you still didnât know what to pick.Â
"See anything you like?" He asked as you guys stood off to the side â by the entry way that had a lot of books nearby.
"Hm, I think I would like to try the toffee crunch espresso? It seems good." You pondered on that, not really liking coffee but love to try different kinds once in a while.
"Sounds great. You go pick a seat for us and I'll get our orders." He patted your head and slightly pushed your forward a bit in case you decided to protest on the matter.
You rolled your eyes a bit at that but looked across the cafe to see where you wanted to sit. Eventually you decided on the floral printed sofa that had an antique wooden table to set the drinks on. This place was definitely one for the books.
Kuroo soon came back with the drinks and taking that first sip was always magical â until it gave you the shits later.
"Thank you for this. You didn't have to buy it for me, you know." You made a point at that, even though he knew that too. Your parents still give you an allowance, especially now more than ever too. They don't want you working your ass off in college at a dead-end job when you could be focusing on studies.
"I know, little one. But you're my favorite non-biological sister, so why wouldn't I?" He remarked, sipping his drink as the warmth fogged up his reading glasses that he only wears occasionally.
Your heart strings tugged at the nickname Kuroo used for you.
He had given you that name when you were very young and needed help on something so small at the time that your parents thought it was huge â your writing skills.Â
"So, you have other not favorite non-biological sisters?" You snorted, as that sounded weird coming from your mouth.
"Yeah, yeah." He waved you off, rolling his eyes at your dumb question.Â
"Okay, so, when can I move in? I was kind of wondering why we aren't there now and instead at a coffee shop." You raised an eyebrow at that. It was kind of weird Kuroo wasn't showing you where you were going to live for the next four years.Â
"Well, there is something I was supposed to tell you about, but in all honesty, I kind of forgot."
You urged him to go on.
"So, I have a roommate too. His name is Kenma and he's super chill and goes to uni with me and I've known him since we were young." He spit out all at once, leaving you stunned.
"A roommate? How old is he? I mean, I haven't met him. What if he kills me in my sleep, Tetsu?" You can't possibly move in with Kuroo and his roommate that you don't even know! That's just crazy work, he was trying to get you killed.
"I promise Kenma is a good guy. He likes video games and cats. He used to play volleyball with me in high school. Like I've known him forever, there won't be anything to worry about!" He tried to reassure you. Tetsuro had promised your parents that he'd take extra special care of you once you got accepted into his university.
And right now, he hoped that you would look past not knowing Kenma very well and agree. It never really came up in the past letters about Kurooâs social life â probably because of the age difference. Not only that but your parents had monitored all of your letter conversations till they got you a phone.Â
"I mean... I guess it's fine," You trailed off a bit, wanting more time to think on it but then again, he's right in front of you. And Kuroo would never purposefully put you in danger, he's not like that. Youâve known him since you were in primary too.Â
Kuroo blew a sigh of relief, "Great! I swear it will all be fine. Want to go look around a bit? I can show you some good places around this town, so you'll be more familiar with it once you move."
You sipped your coffee, now bitter in your mouth â from how long it sat there untouched or from the conversation? You don't know.
"Yeah, that's a good idea. I don't want to not know where a gas station is and have to pull over on the side of the road and a stranger kidnap and kill me." You got up from the cushioned couch to stretch a bit before leaving.
"Did someone make you watch a scary movie lately? You sure are being a bit weird, little one." He chuckled as if it was funny. You're deathly scared of gory, horror movies.
"As if, this is just my regular morbid self." You laughed, exiting the cafe and taking in the scenery of the streets. It wasn't a bad town at all. It looked kind of magical like it came out of a movie or something.
After a bit of sight-seeing, you gathered that there were a lot of thrifting shops, coffee places, a public library and even different kinds of food areas that you'd definitely be trying out once you move.
Your feet started to hurt but you wouldn't tell Kuroo that, he'd make fun of you for being such a big baby.
So, you decided on, "Tell me more about Kenma? I'm still a bit nervous of actually moving in with a stranger I've only heard stories of."Â
"I'm not sure what to say. He's a year younger than me, Christmas is his favorite holiday, and he's started a small YouTube channel a bit ago."
He saw the look on your face and then added, "He knows you're moving in; it'll all be okay. Save the worries for your new classes, okay?" He ruffled your head, effectively messing up your hair that you worked hard on this morning.
"Agh, stop," You pulled his hand away, "You're annoying." You scoffed at him as you guys arrived at your small car.
This beauty has gotten you through senior year and you're just praying she'll get you through this year of college. It was a red VW convertible that your parents graciously gave you on your 18th birthday.
You had decked her out with plenty of red accessories and most of which were strawberry or hello kitty themed. What can you say? You're just a girl after all.
"Thanks for the day Tetsu, it was really nice. I'm feeling a bit better about moving here." You give him a genuine smile as you unlock your car door.
"Anytime for you, little one." He reached over to give you a squeezing hug and then released you.
"I'll see you soon then, bye!" You waved once you were buckled in your cute little car. Kuroo gave you a huge wave and a smile goodbye.
As you were driving back home, you couldn't help but to roll your windows down and let the air flow through your hair. At a red light, you connected your phone to the car and started playing your favorite song.
A man crossed the road, you couldn't help but to stare at his outfit. Who in the hell wears a hoodie and sweatpants in the summer? Granted, it was the end of summer, so the heat was slowly fleeting but just barely.
As if he heard you, his head snapped up, locking eyes with yours. His strange golden ones felt like they could have pierced your soul with how hard the expression on his face was. Even with the windows down, in the summer heat, you managed to shiver just from him.
As you drove by, you couldn't get the image out of your mind nor the feeling off your skin. You hoped it maybe was the music that had perhaps made that man stare you down in the middle of the crosswalk.
You turned the music up a little louder, hoping to drown the thoughts out and letting the wind send a different type of chills down your back.
. . .
On the long drive home, you couldn't help your mind from wandering to when you had your first encounter with Kuroo. You had maybe been no older than nine or ten. You remember your parents sitting you down at the kitchen table with serious looks on their faces that had you worried.
They had told you that they had been concerned about the way you had been writing your past few school assignments. However, those couldn't have been not much longer than a paragraph or two, so you didn't really understand.
Anyways, that's when they signed up for a program to help you connect with another grade schooler to improve your writing skills. You had been excited to use the many pretty stationary that your parents had gifted you to get you into writing.
You soon had met a junior high version of Kuroo -- through pen pal letters of course. He had introduced himself and mostly asked about you and gave you tips to correct your writing. And then, well, the rest is history.
Not to mention that you definitely kept all of the letters that Kuroo had sent to you as memories.
As the years blended away, you finally got your first phone when you reached your last year in junior high! That was Kuroo's third year too and after the long wait of your letter sending through the mail with the excitement of your new phone, you finally got a message back.
That is when you both decided to meet up in person, conventionally it was right after Kuroo had a match and won it that same day. It's safe to say that he was exceptionally happy to win a match with his team and meet his pen pal sister.
You still remember cringing away from him trying to give you a hug because you both just now met up in person, but he did just win a match. Over the course of your high school years, he would occasionally come back on breaks from university and take you out for ice cream or help with your science homework.
Kuroo was like the big brother you never got, and you were like the little sister he always wished for. It was the perfect duo.
You wish you could have recorded his face once you facetimed him about being accepted into his college. That was the day that he had sworn to your parents that he'd take excellent care of you if you decided to go there with him.
Safe to say, your parents loved and trusted Kuroo.
You couldn't help but to smile at all the delightful memories that ran through your head. 'It'll be weird for a bit, but I'll have my bro Kuroo, so it'll be fine' you thought to yourself, pulling into the driveway of your house.
Maybe it all would be okay.
synopsis: it's the summer before you go to university, and you decide to become roommates with your pen pal that you've known since you were in primary. big problem arises, he's got a roommate, and it just so happens that his roommate either has a sexual want for you or hates your guts â or probably both?

Can we hear your thoughts on Leona! Yutu?
Since Leona died fighting the Phantom, Yutu obviously wouldn't have met him, and I'm wondering about your ideas between what Leona became after NRC, how the loss of Yuu affected him, Leona's death, and Yutu's opinion of him before and after meeting him. I had an errant idea of Leona having Died a Hero's Death and then when Yutu meets him it's like, "THIS is the guy my parent was willing to spend the rest of their life with???"
Anyway yeah. As a Leona Simp, I would much appreciate anything you write.
Does he like cats... you know I have always sort of seen Leona has having a petty rivalry with Grim because he thinks he should be the King Cat, so the image of Leona! Yutu lying in a field with a bunch of cats is sort of a perfect contrast. I like it: Leona! Yutu absolutely loves cats and they love him.
notes: they/them used for Yuu, for context on the fyuuture kid au can be found here and here. You can find even more stuff for it on my masterlist under the series section.
Leona and and his position in the kingdom's line of succession... Based off my understanding of what we see in the Tashmina event I think the Savanna would prioritize protecting their royal family over a lot, something that pissed Leona off. He went to fight the King of Beast's phantom because he saw it as a problem he made and that he needed to take responsibility for sure, but also because he had no faith in his brother to do anything meaningful about it. I want to say that his brother wanted to enshrine Leona as a hero for his sacrifice, but that this decision was very unpopular with his advisors so he was buried in the Elephant Graveyard without much fanfare. He is an extremely popular figure with the hyenas, as is Ruggie. They see him as restoring the Kingdom's honor in a way by defeating the false king, something no other country in the apocalypse can claim, but things are still rough since they can't rely on tourism anymore and the blot has been making the weather really unpredictable, leading to bad harvests and starving people.
If Yuu was Leona's... losing them wouldn't have a noticeable affect on him but it was a massively crushing blow. We know he hates his unique magic because turning things to sand is a curse in the Savanna, but did it really have to be his own family this time? The family he got in spite of himself, the one fucking person who chose him no matter how much he snapped at them and tried to convince them to see him for what he was; a worthless dead end that would only hurt them. And what's worse is he knows that whoever took them had his brother's cooperation.
"Couldn't let me have this one fucking thing could you?" He's laughing as he says it and not even the irritation in his sister in law's eyes makes him back down. "Stuff it. I ain't stupid enough for whatever line you got fed and I don't care about your justifications. You're gonna have to live with this one on your own, Falena. Just like I have to."
He refuses to talk to his other family after that. No matter who is asking or making demands, taking Yuu and Yutu away from him is just one step too far. His brother probably thought that Yuu would be allowed to come home and that's why he let them go, but that's not exactly an excuse Leona would be willing to accept from anyone, let alone the supposed leader of a state. He almost feels relived when the blot phantoms start wreaking things, Leona might just want to sleep until you come to wake him up again but fighting things gives him an excuse to get his mind off things. Dying is a relief, he doesn't have to deal with Idia's whining or living without you any longer than he already has. His only regret is that he had to take Ruggie with him.
I really love this fanart and head cannon fima11 had of Leona's hair being light when he was born, and the color getting darker as he grows, so the idea of something similar happening with Leona! Yutu when he's born is really sweet. Leona's hair sort of resembles a mane, it'd be cute if Leona! Yutu's did the same. And genetics are already so weird I don't think any earth doctors would like too much of it.
Leona! Yutu is a sleepy boy. His hobby is napping and his favorite place in the whole wide world is his bed. He has a bad habit of laying face first in his pillows because he snores pretty loudly and he doesn't want to wake anyone up, which sort of makes him look like he has passed out as opposed to just settled down for a good snooze.
Because he is being raised by a single parent in the human world and not a bunch of gossipy servants hired by emotionally neglectful royalty, Yutu is significantly less entitled than Leona is. He has good sense with his money and can work hard, he just has a bit of a problem with resting bitch face that leaves people thinking he is rude. And to be fair? If someone is testing his patience then he really can be. Apple didn't fall far from the tree, Yutu is absolutely brutal when people test his patience.
Yuu's memories of Leona don't exactly help with his perceived behavior problems, they recall Leona's catty personality and how rude he could be, but that he was so remarkably clever and so very strong, that they were in awe of him sometimes. I think they would mention that he struggled with depression due to a difficult upbringing and feel a need to make sure Yutu felt appreciated and like he could do anything he set his mind to, no matter who he was born as. Yutu just takes that to mean that being a bitch runs in the family and he fully intends to ride that excuse to the bank.
It's a nice thought but Yutu feels a bit conflicted by it. He has no doubt that Yuu will always love and support him, but other people? Yuu might be able to ignore what their neighbors say about them but Yutu can hear them loud and clear. They think Yuu's amnesia is an act, and that he's a weirdo freak. Not to mention they don't have any money so even if he wanted to be a doctor or something like that going to school would be a bit of a pain, even with his grades. He finds school to be boring, and even when he gets bullied by one of the coaches in to taking up a sport because of how strong he is it doesn't help much.
I could see him being very into space and astronomy because he feels like he doesn't belong in your world. He knows a lot of downright stupid stuff about UFO sightings and aliens even though he doesn't believe in them. He is SO DISAPPOINTED when Twisted Wonderland turns out to have no conspiracy theories to talk about, can't think the moon landing was faked if you never had one after all. If the world wasn't literally ending he would be pushing for the Sunset Savanna to win the space race, c'mon guys it is in our name everything the light touches totally expands to the stars-
Like the other beastmen Yutus he maintains his instincts, even in your world. He is extremely territorial about his things and especially your home. Like Cater! Yutu, he has strong feelings of nostalgia for your world, but unlike him it has nothing to do with the monsters or hardships. Lions just tend to stay in the same place for a long time so moving to entirely different world and ecosystem makes him feel weird, even if he prefers his beastfolk body to his human one.
Gets put in Savanaclaw by the mirror. He might like space but his preferred type of argument is rearranging someone's dental work before asking them to explain themselves. He'd be terrible at defending a thesis.
Leona! Yutu's place in the Sunset Savanna hierarchy is tricky. I think, as Yutu is his brother's child, Falena would want some sort of relationship with him as he does clearly love his brother. What makes that hard is that as far as the government is concerned, Leona is dead and that's the end of his part of the family line. Acknowledging that he had a son could further destabilize the already tense political situation in the Savanna since Leona's sacrifice is already a point of conflict between the royal family and a portion of their people. While Crewel has no problem telling Yutu about his father since he has a right to know, the fact that he is technically a prince is completely hidden from him for a long time.
We haven't really played with this idea yet, but I sort of like Leona having a ghost that hangs around his grave sometimes. Idia arranges for Yutu to go there on a day he thinks he'll be hanging around and while Yutu doesn't get to talk to his father he does get to see him and the look of pride in his eyes when the grumpy lion realizes who he is. Leona gets to pass on and be with Yuu while Yutu gets a lesson from his cousin about the concept of the great Kings living on in the sky and how the past lives on in him. Because while Cheka understand his dad's concerns like hell is he not going to meet his favorite cousin. His enthusiasm is really exhausting to Yutu, he appreciates the fact that someone has nice things to say about his dad but he isn't too sure how much he trusts this guy.
Oh right one more thing, I don't want to say each of the Savanaclaw boys would pass their magic on to their Yutu's so if we ever get around to Jack he won't, but Leona should pass on King's Roar to his kid. Causing a drought might be considered a curse but I want to say Leona! Yutu wears it with pride. He loves his roar and that despite all the effort put in to erasing Leona from existence he still lives in him. His head is fit to wear the crown, no matter what anyone says.
Leona clocks what Yutu is the instant he steps out of the portal. It's all in the kid's scent and what runes he used to make the jump. He takes some time to think about what it could mean and comes to a few conclusions. Firstly, if he has a kid with you then he will always have some sort of relationship with you, no not in the yandere possessive way (mostly), he just knows enough about himself and his wants to know that having a kid would not be something he did by accident. If he did that at some point in the future it would be because you were going to stay with him forever and he actually believed that. Something that clearly did not get to happen because of how protective Yutu is of his parent.
Yutu was a bit confused if he should go about interacting with his dad or even ask about him so you can imagine his surprise when he stops by Ramshackle to see Leona half asleep on the couch.
"Oh sorry Yuu isn't here-"
"I know." Leona doesn't even open his eyes, and is he seriously wearing his shoes on the couch? Yuu would kill him for that it's so unsanitary.
"Um. Ok I'll just leave you be the-"
"Why'd you travel back in time?" Oh Leona's eyes are open now and there is something about that stare that's nailing Yutu to his spot and tempting his tail between his legs. His dad must notice because he laughs and shakes his head. "Seriously? If that's all it takes to scare you shitless we really are fucked."
Leona doesn't outright say he knows he's his dad, but Yutu gathers that's probably the case from the difference in his attitude around him compared to everyone else. There's a degree of coldness and severity to Leona when he's giving orders that really isn't present when he's talking to him about overblots or his theories about who is responsible for the bad future. He's almost playful about it, like he is messing with a cub. Which Yutu supposes that he is but still, he doesn't like being treated like a kid. Something he very much regrets telling Leona because holy shit his dad is strong just like Yuu said he was.
I think Leona would make him play chess against him a lot. You can learn a lot about a person by playing chess with them, and since it's something Leona really likes to do he would enjoy sharing it with his son. I think he would also get a kick out of seeing Yutu get really competitive with him about it. Maybe there is some lion in this kid after all.
Leona also makes a subtle effort to teach him about how the court of the Sunset Savanna works. I think Leona would sort of enjoy the fact that his kid didn't grow up as royalty just because it meant he was free of the pressures that he had, but hate everything else he learned about Yutu's childhood. It inspires him to think a bit deeper about how he is going to address this when Yutu is born in this timeline, though he is admittedly lacking on solutions beyond refusing to die this time. He must have been really far gone to even consider making a heroic sacrifice that's not like him at all.
He does get the appeal of his father sort of? Sure he's lazy, but he is extremely intelligent and clearly a lot more knowledgeable about literally everything than Yutu thought he was. When they're working together he sees a very impressive person and reliable leader. When he sees Leona interact with you he has questions. Why do you let him pick fights with you so often? Yutu can tell he's making heart eyes at how you fight back but that's because he's a beatman himself so he can read his body language. And he's not crazy about how he orders you around because if his father is a Prince... wouldn't that mean by marrying him you would also be royalty? He is so confused...
Meanwhile Leona isn't rushing things just because he knows you return his feelings at some point. He wants you to choose to be with him of your own free will, wants the feeling that comes with knowing you did that and he is willing to play the game to get that. Every milestone he reaches is so much sweeter for knowing that he got you on his efforts alone, crappy attitude and all.
The reveal to Yuu, much like the reveal to Yutu is extremely mundane. Leona invites you to spend the night with him sometime after you get together and he asks you while you're curled up on his chest and he's holding you just a bit too tight (not because he's afraid you'll run, not at all) how you would feel if you could never go home.
"A little upset." Because you had resigned yourself to the possibility a long time ago now. There's a chance you're only in Twisted Wonderland because you died in your world anyway, might as well be grateful you're still kicking. "And if you stayed and things went bad here, would you still be alright with that?" You don't hesitate at all to his surprise. "I think I'd be safe if I was with you." Well he really hates to prove you wrong but you still deserve to know.
Leona is weirdly quiet in his anger. He roars sure, but that's to exert control. When he's mad he just gets smug and says a lot of hurtful stuff. He leaves the screaming to Yuu, and I could see a Yuu that got with Leona only to learn they didn't get to spend the rest of their life with him doing a lot of screaming. Preventing the apocalypse is a team effort now but first Yutu and Leona are getting scolded for not letting Yuu in on the secret sooner. Leona is down bad horrendous and Yutu wants to die, he hates making you mad.
If I had to make a list of characters I would trust to find a solution to an apocalypse, Leona would actually be pretty close to the top. He is going to bitch about it the entire way, but if he were given the facts before things went too sideways, I think he would be able to make a good plan to set them straight. And there is no way anyone is going to tell him that he managed to have something as precious to him as Yuu taken away from him and not have him do something about it. He'll swallow his pride and take his licks when he has to, but not on this. Never on this, whoever thought he'd just roll over and die is going to shatter in his hands and be like dust on the wind. He really hopes they have enough sense to be prepared....

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR WRITING!!!
May I pretty please request Alastorâs wifey as like a Cheshire Cat?
Perhaps in her living life she led people to their deaths, as itâs sometimes interpreted as a guide. Then later on teamed up with Al and led victims to him?
I just like the idea of an unsettling smiley couple. That and Mad Hatter by Melanie Martinez has been on loop in my brain LOL
Anonymous, you beautiful bastard. You waited so patiently, but I do think it's worth it... I couldn't stop writing this!!! I had so much fun, I cannot tell you. And I will revisit this pair soon, because I can't get over how AMAZING they are! <3 Edit 14-05-24: This will be a mini-series! :D Let's see how many parts we get out of this one!
TW: Graphic depitions of violence and murder, mention of war, gore Minors DNI - Mature content - Adults only!
"Mon amour, can we go out tonight?"
You pulled the last strand of hair from the curling iron, scanning your work for any messy imperfection. Alastor, engrossed in a book, looked up at you, matching your sinister smile with his curious one.
"Oh? Bored already, darling? We went to Mimzy's only yesterday."
"Not that, silly." You walked over to him, setting the hot curling iron on a cool section of his dresser. You sat down, straddling him. Your hands folded behind his back, leaning in.
"I was just thinking that our last game has been a while, hasn't it?"
His eyes widened a bit, smile curling a bit higher. He set the book down on the side table and wrapped his arms around you, long, sharp fingers pressing into your waist with excited anticipation. You tilted your head, looking up at him.
"Well, we have been awfully busy lately with the hotel. I suppose it's high time we should find something to reward us for all our hard work, my darling!"
You nodded, giggling, and rubbed your nose against your husband's. The two of you always got excited when your interests lined up and plans of your games became more elaborate. It was how you met, after all.
Not even two months after your fall, you were well established in the capitol of the pride ring. Quickly adapting to your feline form and with wit and a good heap of charisma you landed a job at the overlord Zestial's newspaper agency, working your way up quickly to editor. Hell wasn't a scary place for you, at all. The world you came from had been the real hell.
When the germans invaded France, you knew your little village in the Somme valley would be the first they would take, and then Paris would be next. Your brothers and father were already dead. You had heard of the horrors the german soldiers were bringing upon the women and children of the countries they captured, which made the will of protecting your sister and mother even stronger. But you had always been a fighter, and you possessed the most unusual but useful weapons a woman could possess: beauty, cleverness and ruthlessness.
They had been such easy victims - young soldiers, craving a good pussy after being away from home for so long - you seduced them with laughable ease and your signature smile and lured them into the woods, where you'd kill them, your smile never falling as your knife would hit the lifeless body again and again. Sometimes, you'd get so many killings in one night you had to burn the clothes you wore because the blood would've stained them through. They would all be thrown in the Somme, where they'd be swallowed by the waters, never to be seen again. You didn't even care what the punishment would be once the war was over. All you cared about was to avenge the lost and protect the remaining members of your family and if killing the enemy was the way, you'd do it gladly and with as much pleasure as you could. You had disposed of about 40 bodies in the river before they caught you, red handed, the knife still in your victims crotch. They had been too cowardly to shoot you then and there. Instead, they had dragged you back to the town, tied your hands behind your back and forced you to kneel in front of the town square, your mother and sister watching you along the horrified villagers, and you watched them, as they were made to witness them put a bullet straight through your heart.
"On se voit en enfer, putains de salauds."
And then, you woke up. In Hell, naked, confused, hungry, angry. But not scared. Never scared. You were still you. And your smile never faded.
A lot of people were too weirded out by the constant smile on your face, that's when you first heard of Alastor. The radio demon, rising star of hell's overlords. Everyone feared him, and his smile. You didn't, and that's what made him approach you when you saw him at a party you had been invited to by one of Zestial's acquaintances, Rosie.
He was drawn to your smile, just as much as you were drawn to his. When he spoke, your ears twitched in excitement, as if listening to the greatest song in the world. He was unbelievably interesting, charming up to a point where you couldn't help but feel drawn to him, and his voice - Oh, doux comme un ange et vif comme le diable. You didn't want to, didn't expect it at all, but your heart did a jump the moment his hand touched yours when he asked you to dance.
"Your smile never falters, darling. I can't help but wonder why?"
You giggled, a gloved hand covering your mouth as he turned you, crimson glowing eyes never leaving yours.
"I don't know, really. My papan used to tell me that it was the only thing I had going for me, and it's what made silly soliders so easy to kill."
You could feel the air around him tense and shift, his grin widening at your words as he turned you in again.
"Ah, a lady after my own heart. I can appreciate a woman who knows how to have fun."
You didn't say anything to his comment, just smiled, and he pulled you closer.
"Why don't we have a little fun of our own? I have the right mind for a little game, if you're up to it, darling?"
It took the both of you only a few more minutes to decide to leave the party. It was the night of your first game. Your first kill. And your first kiss. You loved to retell the story of how you two met to everyone who'd ask. You didn't mind, not even when they were uncomfortable. They weren't used to the idea of two people like you, the serial killers, finding love with each other that none of you sought out. It was a genuine love that was born in a way that could only happen in hell, and yet, you felt that it was the truest and best love you had ever felt. It was the first time in forever you could remember your cheeks actually hurt from smiling.
Alastor stood up, lifting you from his lap with an ease that was effortless to him, and twirled you around.
"Well, then, why don't we go paint the town red?"
You laughed, wrapping your arms around his neck as he lowered you, placing a kiss on your nose.
"Red looks beautiful on both of us."
Dressed in your favourite dress, you and Alastor made your way into the city. You always had to keep from giggling when you saw the face of the other residents as they realized you weren't going out for a casual stroll, but for a game night. Especially the pricesses girlfriend made you want to burst out in laughter, her face scrunched into a mask of disdain and disgust. The two of you were always a sight, though. Alastor, looking as handsome as ever, the red suit and black dress shirt underneath complimenting his dark complexion and making his red eyes glow even brighter. And yourself, always a sight for sore eyes, in a black lace dress that accentuated your figure perfectly. People always stared at you when the two of you were out, and that was only part of the fun.
Alastor's hand held yours, his long, sharp nails scratching your skin, the both of you excited for the prospects of the night.
"Why don't you set the challenge today, mon chou?", you asked, looking up at him with a curious gaze, "I'd love to see what you come up with."
Alastor chuckled, pulling you closer to his side.
"Mh... let me think."
His hand was placed on his chin, his eyes closing as he hummed a tune, deep in thought.
"How about this? I'll give you a five minute head-start. You win if you bring them to kill themselves, before I catch them. If I catch them before they're dead, it's my win. That sound fair?"
You grinned, the thought of the game already getting you excited. You weren't nearly as strong as Alastor was, but so much more agile than him and with a few tricks up your sleeve - you had a feeling that this would be your night.
"More than fair, amour. As for my reward: If you lose, I get to decide what music we are listening to until our next game."
"Well, well, greedy now, aren't we, my little minx?"
His grin widened as he chuckled, his arm tightening around your waist, pulling you closer, his lips brushing against yours.
"You know what my request is if you lose. It's a deal, then. And the stakes are high, I hope you know."
You smiled, your eyes closing as you brushed your lips against his, and purred.
"The higher the better."
***
Oh, how you loved the sound of panicked breathing. This cretin really had no stamina, only one minute in and he was panting, crawling in the alley you chased the scruffy doberman sinner after slashing his feet in the shattered glass and debris. You made yourself visible again in front of him, hidden in the shadows as just a grinning, magenta scheme.
"Aw, poor boy. What's the matter, baby?", you cooed, licking your claws as if nothing had happened. "You seem a little frightened. Don't you want to touch me anymore?"
The man didn't speak, just gasped, crawling backwards. You took a step forward, crouching down, your sharp, pearly teeth glistening in the neon light of the dim street lamp.
"No need to be scared, sweetheart, I'm a nice kitty. Come here, let me touch you."
You stretched out a claw, reaching for him as your limb elongated with bone-chilling cracks. He backed away, trying to get up. You giggled, the sound high pitched and eerie. You made yourself invisible again, shifting behind him and suppressing a giggle as he shuddered, looking frantically around him to search for your frame. Two minutes down.
"I thought you like pussy, baby?", you purred, making your voice come from his left ear. He screamed, and ran, his feet leaving blood stains on the concrete, limping, holding the wound on his leg. You laughed and let the lamps blow out one by one as he passed them, showering him with broken glass and hot metal wires. He didn't know it, but you were guiding him, right into a dead end. You heard the sounds of Alastor's microphone feedback somewhere further down the road, and grinned. You had three more minutes to play, and you knew you'd win.
You appeared before this pathetic excuse of a man, who had reached the dead end and was looking frantically around for a way out. Three minutes down, time to wrap it up.
"You're breaking my heart, sweetie. Don't you like to play with me anymore?"
"Fuck, I... p-please, don't... don't hurt m-me, I'm sorry... just let... let me go." The man was shaking, pressing his back against the wall. You licked your teeth, and took another step towards him, your hands on his shoulders, leaning in.
"Oh, I'm not gonna hurt you, baby. I'm just a drunken, helpless little kitty, remember?"
He whimpered, and you smiled, a sick, sinister smile that made him shiver even more. He slid down the wall that was blocking his way as you bent down, caressing his cheek. One minute to go.
"No, I'm not gonna kill you today. You'll do it yourself."
You reached inside your purse, taking out a small, golden pocket knife. His eyes widened as he watched you place the object next to his shaking form and you let yourself fade out of existence, except for your ever-lasting grin.
"See, if you're a good boy, you'll die fast and painless. If not..."
The man looked up at what remained of you, breathing heavily. His eyes were wide with fear, but his pupils dilated as he scanned the place, and a glimmer of hope rose inside him.
"Well, you'll find out what else in about fifteen seconds."
His trembling hand wrapped around the handle of the knife, his eyes still fixed on the spot where your figure had been. You leaned in again, whispering into his ear, the air of your breath hot on his skin.
âTik, tok, little pup...â
With a desperate roar, the doberman whipped the knife forward, ready to stab where he supposed you were. And he would've been right. If not for...
"Too slow, darling."
The man's eyes widened, his breath stuck in his throat as his hand was stopped, the blade millimeters away from your flesh. The cold, bony grip of Alastor's claw around his wrist tightened, and the knife was slowly being pulled out of his shaking hand as you made yourself visible. He chuckled, the sound reverberating in his chest and the surrounding buildings, and stepped forward, looming over the trembling mess of a man.
"Well, well, well. Look at this sloppy attempt. What's the matter, boy? Cat got your tongue?"
Alastor's claw dug deeper into his flesh, a pool of blood forming under the hand Alastor still had in his iron grip. His other hand reached out, grabbing the man's throat and lifting him up the wall. You joined his side, watching the horrified expression on the sinners face with a tilted head as you nestled into him, a slight pout on your lips.
"Aww, you're no fun, amour. I was so close to winning, too. What a shame."
Alastor's arm snaked around your waist, pulling you closer as he chuckled, squeezing the sinners neck a bit tighter. The man was gasping for air, his face turning red and his eyes starting to roll back into his skull. "Rules are rules, darling. I believe we said five minutes. That means the game is mine."
You sighed, your head leaning against Alastor's shoulder.
"C'est dommage, I was longing to listen to a little Presley again."
"Maybe next time, my love."
He leaned over to steal a kiss from your lips and you closed your eyes, not seeing but hearing the scream and the sound of ripping skin and muscles, the gurgling splatter of blood and the buzzing of your husbands static.
Oh, comme j'aime cet homme...
Alastor dropped the shredded remains of the sinner and it slumped into the pile of meat that used to be his head. He licked his lips, his eyes glowing in the darkness, a grin plastered on his face as he took off his stained jacket and put it over your shoulders.
"I believe I have a debt to collect, darling, and I'd rather do it in the privacy of our bedroom than here, don't you agree?"
He reached his hand out, and you smiled, taking it.
