I once worked for a shitty lifeguard company.

- they committed wage theft all the time. If we clocked in before our shift started, our time sheets would be "corrected" and set to when our shifts start. We were also expected to be there 15 minutes early. If we clocked out after our shift ends, it would be corrected to our shift end. Sometimes we would still be working after our shift ended. We had ~6hrs of unpaid in-service training a month. I'm pretty sure that is also wage theft. They paid us slightly over minimum wage, and that was their excuse as to why committing wage theft was "okay".

- much of their equipment was broken. Our pool vacuum extension cord was not thick enough to support the vacuum. One day it caught on fire, the person using it almost threw it into the pool. I was in the pool.

- one time the pumps broke at a neighborhood pool. There was no chlorine in the pool. My friend emailed the neighborhood about it. The neighborhood forwarded his email to the lifeguarding company. Shitty on the neighborhood for not protecting the whistle blower, shitty on the lifeguarding company for everything.

- I'm definitely blocking out some abuse and racism.

I once worked for a shitty "tech" company. The C-suite were all yes-men to the founder. The company is actively running itself into the ground.

- the building is falling apart.

-Tiles are breaking apart and missing from the break room, bathrooms.

- the elevators are always broken. I was told not to use them on a Friday or right before a long weekend.

- the garbage disposal broke, there were several screws inside????

- the plumbing broke at one point. We had porta pottys outside for months. Water was off for a few days.

- the HVAC is all sorts of broken. It's hot in some offices, freezing other places. The temperature is always changing. Someone's always fixing it.

- must be in the building 8.5 hrs/day. They use a shitty time tracking software that is broken. I have had many issues with it not accurately reflecting when I clock in, days off, etc. HR uses that software to justify layoffs, promotions and merit adjustments. I have stories...

- the bike shed is a horse shed, upside down. The place to put hay is where we lock our bikes. We can't actually properly lock our bikes. I know someone who's bike was stolen from there. There's a camera pointed at the bikes, but the camera is probably 25+ years old.

It's essential to show up first in SERPS (Search Engine Results Page) when someone looks for "plumbing emergency in (city)" or "HVAC installer nearby."

As you build and edit your pages, keep in mind your USP (Unique Selling Proposition):

March is not being nice to me

So far this month:

The Dryer broke. Apparently Whirlpool dryers have a history of the belt (that causes the drum to tumble) breaking. Repair guy came on Tuesday.

The gasket that seals the door of the washer broke and Flooded the kitchen last night. Son apparently dislodged the gasket when he loaded his comforter in the washer. The Repair Guy is coming to fix that next Tuesday. (fortunately I did 6 loads of laundry after the dryer was fixed.)

The fluorescent light fixture in the kitchen stopped working last week. We replaced the bulbs & the light still doesn't work. Also the fluorescent light in the hall bathroom stopped working a while ago, but we've been using a workman's light in there for a while. So on Wednesday, an electrician will come to fix those.

Since I was on the phone with the Dependaworthy people (It's a local company that does plumbing, electrical and HVAC service) I scheduled having the A/C checked and washed before it gets hot.

So I'm spending at LEAST $1k to get all this stuff fixed this month. Last year it was the refrigerator and the plumber. I'm so glad I transferred $1.5k out of my IRA in December just in case I had a lot of 'emergencies' this year.
