Pauper, protector, prince.
I wanted to give a proper tribute to the chokehold of a broken family bond by @dekupalace! So. Take this‼️‼️
Extra under cut!!
Tumblr media
Some contrived stuff bfkgk:
Siffrin’s head is turned up, towards the crown. A reference to how Siffrin mentions many times how he has to loop up higher and higher to see the King.
Flowers resembling the party! This is a reference to another fic, Bloom! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check it out!! Siffrin is crushing the flowers under his heels.
The flower in Siffrin’s hair is a nadine jessie, a type of dahlia. Obviously supposed to represent Nadine, but I wanted it specifically in Siffrin’s hair bc of the festival :) (couldn’t get it on their hat bc of the angle lol)
Siffrin holds a rose tucked between his palm and thumb, representing the King. I chose a rose, because of its connection to theatre, and its thorns.
Siffrin’s pose is knightly in nature, but without a sword or any grand weapon. They hide their dagger behind their back, alluding to the role he’s supposed to play. He is a knight, a protector, without any of the grace or nobility.
Siffrin faces away from the stars, and his face is shadowed, kinda alluding to Siffrin’s doubts of if this is really the right thing, if they are truly doing what the universe wants. Siffrin is, literally, turning their back to the stars.
Tumblr media
Songbirds- I talked about this in a comment, but basically in my mind Siffrin taking the plunge into having to assassinate Mirabelle kinda reminds me of Eurydice from Hadestown agreeing to go to Hadestown.
Tumblr media
The songbirds are specifically loggerhead shrikes, songbirds that impale their prey on sharp things like brambles and wire. Beforehand they paralyze their prey by biting down on the spinal cord with their tomial tooth. This made me think of King’s time craft freezing, or “paralyzing” Vaugarde.
I was inspired by this wonderful animatic for it! Also I just really love birds and will take ANY chance to include them in a drawing. (and Loggerhead shrikes translate very well to a desaturated color scheme—)
The king’s hair is staining from white to black/black to white, like Nadine’s hair dye.
ANYWAYS!!! YEAH!!! This is kinda a love letter, so to speak, for this fic, but to these fanworks in general :) If you haven’t already seen them, please check out these wonderful and creative works. I absolutely adore them all, and they deserve love!!

Hi again so uh I've got another question about those silly sloms
Do they have any holidays that they celebrate every year? I am so normal about slomen Im obsessed with them
These are pretty poopy sketches but they must work for now.
There's of course many festivities and events throughout the year or every culture. Birthdays are one of the most common big events as sloms mostly share them, having them in similar 1-2 months and celebrating them all at once.
But I'm gonna talk about Upli'ta-kaw's (or just "Kaw" -center of Ciwa) years end - Nsawa-tanti. Celebrated during the slightly colder and darker season.
Many things are involved in this festival that takes around a week (or a month depending on year type - there are common months and "holy" months in the Ciwan calendar, which have more months).
Tumblr media
The main theme of the event is connection. Those of spirits (ghosts), gods, people, and other entities.
Corpse dolls (image above) are reconstructions of dead family members that are meant to be constructed by younger children. This is so they make a connection with the dead members. They put the pieces together, insert some of the feathers of the person, and paint the hard pieces if there are any. After that, the many figures are displayed in a large scene. If the figures have moved over the nights, it means the spirits are using them to relive memories.
After the festival, most families' dolls become toys for the kids.
Other than specific wear, food and actions on different days, theatre is an important part of the festival.
Tumblr media
While plays are common all around the year, the year's end is a time of more specific religious stories about the families of gods and their struggles. Wealthier families might go to theatres, while others build stages in the streets if they aren't part of the settlement already. During these, the audience is encouraged to influence the story and save the characters from a bad ending by shouting and "helping the gods" overcome the family dramas and such. However, death is still very common in these stories, as much as one wants to avoid bad endings. It's often what brings the gods together as they mourn (sometimes the dead one just comes back alive anyway). It's to show how gods might not have spirits like mortals, but their experience is the same, even as divines. It is the only time of year people can "affect" the way gods behave in some way, even if it's just actors. In any other season it would be disrespectful.
I know this is short and not very descriptive but maybe some other time I will do better and go deeper! I have harder time getting these points across with how many visuals are needed.

What are your thoughts about Catholicism? Very fond of your writings and musings about Christianity. Also, I hope your friend and their family is alright.
Yayyyy, I got an ask! I love talking about Christianity and I am very glad to hear that you like them. I unfortunately have not heard from my friend since Wednesday (which is not weird, so not worried yet). I will either see her this coming Wednesday, or I will at the very least see some people who can inform me so fingers crossed and still praying.
To your question: (this is roughly but poorly organized so sorry)
Firstly, Catholics are Christians. It's sad that this is such spicy thing to say, but it is. Catholics will be alongside Protestants and Orthodoxes at the resurrection should just... chill out everyone. They have not anathematized the gospel or whatever. The gospel is that despite what it looks like, Jesus is King and has come to save humanity by dying for our sins and rising from the dead so that you can be free from the grip of sin and death. No self-respecting catholic would deny that. And so no self-respecting catholic should be called non-christian.
Secondly, I'd like to just start with something i noticed that is kinda funny to me. Whenever I learn about some disagreement in church history between Catholics and some other group, I tend to side with the Catholics for aesthetic reasons and the Others for moral reasons. So like with the Iconoclasm. The Eastern Church was like "Icons are idolatry; let's destroy them!!" And Rome was like "Uhhh... no. Don't destroy the beautiful art work." So on that base issue I agree with Rome: iconoclasm is bad and art is beautiful. But there's also a deeper issue of whether the Pope has the authority or whether the other church has the right to mind their own business and with that I side with the East.
Similarly with the Catholics and Puritans in the 17th Century (which is slowly becoming my new favorite time period for literature reasons). I side with the Catholic cause like, yeah, liturgy is awesome, art is beautiful, theatre and festivals are fun (who cares if they're pagan!!), women are great (that's more of a Catholic poet thing but wtv). But on the Puritan side I'm like, yeah... there is a lot of greed and corruption and stuff in there too so...
That said: both Catholic (Cavelier) and Puritan poets during this time were freaking awesome. Is that relevant?? Idk. It's my post i do what i want lol.
But as you can see, my thoughts are always being conflicted: on one hand, Catholics make great points, on another there are also many bad points.
Thirdly, as is no surprise to anyone here, I (despite growing up and still being a devout protestant) am a lover of Catholic philosophy. Some points i really love include:
High Church: The Beauty. The Tradition. The Liturgy. Read anything any catholic has ever said about the Eucharist. It's just *chefs kiss*
The Deuterocanon. LUTHER!? WHAT THE HECK BRO! Okay so I understand why the deuterocanon is not considered canonical by Protestants. And I agree. It isn't in the Tanakh, it isn't canon. But like... can't we put them in an appendix or something??? I'm 17 years old and have never read Judith or Jesus son of Sirach or Baruch or Enoch or the Maccabees or- you get the point. Catholics have such an advantage in that these books are part of their scriptures. Also, to any protestants: no. Having a different canon doesn't make them heretics. They have a different doctrine than us, but they have the same theology. Same goes for the Orthodox churches.
I agree with the Catholic exegesis that when Jesus said "On this rock I will build my church" he was talking about Peter. Peter was most definitely the leader of the early church and to deny at least that fact is pretty foolish (Paul did a lot of missionary work, and Jacob/James was the leader of the Jerusalem Church, but I would assert that Peter was overall the leader who did a lot to bridge together Pauline and Jacobine Philosophy).
Exorcism. Demonology (I don't like this word but i don't know what else to say) is something not really talked about in Western Protestantism despite the fact that it was very important to Jesus. I don't know if the Catholic Church's official teaching on demons is like mine (I put a lot of emphasis on how demons are the "powers and authorities", as Paul says, energizing oppressive political bodies) but I do know that they put attention into exorcism and as I know a girl whose mom was possessed, I thank them for that. Demons are just not talked about enough over here which leads into the problem C.S. Lewis mentioned: either Christians are obsessed with them, or they don't think about them at all.
Sacramentology. Great. Splendid. Do I agree with them all? No, but that doesn't matter cause they're cool. I love transubstantiation and how Thomas Aquinas used Aristotle's philosophy to explain it. Freaking awesome.
That leads into the next point: Scholasticism. I like Catholicism lack of fear with engaging with philosophy and science to prove/defend the religion, like using Aristotle to explain transubstantiation. They have historically wanted to know everything about everything. I think that's great. I am a big fan of scholasticism.
Saints. No comment. I wrote about this before. I am fully convinced. Also Mary is Mother <3
Catholicism teaches that it is the church's job to make Christianity visible to the world. And as such, no other denomination (or at the very least, few others) has improved the world through hospitals and universities and art and music and literally laying the groundwork for modern science (!!!) like the Catholic Church. Militant haters may accuse you of being anti science. But don't worry. I know the truth. They are also the largest charitable organization in the world both now and historically.
Concupiscence: It is not a sin to desire to sin. Thank you Catholicism for this. Just... thank you. This should not be a controversial statement and yet!
Feast Days: Everyday is a holiday if you're catholic lol
Mary: What do you mean I already mentioned her? I can mention her twice! She's Mary Mother of God! Queen of Heaven! Drink some respect women juice (i.e. communion wine).
Some points I am confused by
Infant Baptism: So... I do believe in infant baptism. I do not believe that baptism washes away original sin. I believe that it's about covenant.
Purgatory: I am... undecided. My thoughts on what exactly happens when you die is always in flux because the bible isn't as clear as you might think (for example, over the summer i stopped believing in heaven. I did believe in the future resurrection of the dead. But i thought in between you were just... dead). At the moment I do believe that the saved go to "be with Christ" after death and the unsaved just die until all are resurrected at the end of the age. As such, my beliefs don't really require a belief in purgatory. After the resurrection all people will be allowed to align with New Jerusalem or to go into The Valley of Hinnom so there's really no point in purgatory then? I view the earth right now as a kind of purgatory I suppose. That said, it can't hurt to pray for those in purgatory so *shrugs* Pray away.
The idea that the church can forgive sins. And I want to be very clear what I mean by this. When I hear "The church can forgive sins" i think, yes. Obviously. Jesus says to forgive others and that those who refuse forgiveness will not be forgiven. Of course the church can forgive sins. I forgive my sister when she sins against me, how is that that different? That said, I've heard protestants mention this "The church can forgive sins" idea as if it was something different from what I've just said which makes me think I don't understand it.
Non Sola Fide. Okay. So.... my thoughts on this are complicated and I personally think Catholics and Protestants have more common ground on this than is thought. It's important that we don't fall into caricatures. I would assert that Catholics do believe in faith alone - at least in the way that a Protestant would define fatih. Faith is not just belief, but is a combination of that with works. If I claim to believe in Jesus but never participate in the church, I don't actually have faith. So I think this is really just semantics between the two. The issue is how you define faith.
Bible vs Church: This is complicated. The bible wasn't written by an assembly but majorilly by individuals who were inspired by God, starting with Moses and the Torah. Then a later assembly of Jews looked at other writings from their history and agreed (by the help of the Spirit and the guidance of the Torah) that these too were divinely inspired. This community that came around these texts then began to debate and discuss which texts were divinely inspired and which weren't. This carried over into the Jesus Movement where followers of Jesus were also debating these same texts, as well as new texts written by the Apostles. One of the criteria for these new texts was how they related to the older texts (i.e. no antisemitism etc). Eventually different assemblies decided on different texts but for the most part are the same. This is all well known but my point here is this: the Modern Bible was assembled the Early Church, which was a community centered around the teachings of Jesus, gathered together by the apostles. These teachings were themselves based off of an earlier group of texts assembled by a group of people who had come across texts written by mostly individuals inspired by the Spirit and the Torah. So did the bible make the church or did the church make the bible? Both. Neither. Both again. It's too complex of a history for such an easy answer. I fall in the "the bible has equal to or greater than authority than the church has."
Mary: So... I believe that Jesus' siblings were younger siblings by Mary and Joseph. If you don't, that's fine, just don't step on my throat for it. I've heard that they could be adopted, which i'd accept, or cousins, which I'd accept. What I will not accept is older siblings by Joseph. This is not possible because of birthright stuff. They would inherit the Davidic throne instead of Jesus basically. That said God loves the youngest born so *shrugs*. I also have problems with the immaculate conception. No. Just... no. There's no point to me. I think it's mental gymnastics. That said, i have problems with Original Sin period so *shrugs*. That said there is this really good article by a Catholic mutual of mine on original sin that i really like and has (possibly) convinced me so check it out. Then the assumption... uh... idk or really care for that matter. Peter was crucified upside down. Paul was beheaded. Mary was assumed. One of these is not like the other but *shrugs* sure. I have no reason to believe it, but i also have no reason not to believe it.
And finally things I don't like:
Authority over Interpreting Scripture. This is one of the things that bars me from conversion. I believe in a great importance of the individual reading and interpretation of scripture. I think the individual should look into Church history and historical traditions, philosophies, and such, but I think the individual should, nonetheless, come to conclusions on their own and wrestle with the scriptures. I'm not saying this doesn't happen in catholicism, but I am saying that I think the way I think of scriptural reading is discouraged. I don't like the idea that if I interpret Ezekiel differently (that he's not talking about Mary's womb as a gate that only Yahweh passes thru) I suddenly can't be Catholic. My interpretation is just different.
So... yeah lol

The little sisterfication of Sandrone
── ୨୧:sandrone & reader
୨୧﹑synopsis :: sandrone being a moody tsundere child but it's cute
୨୧﹑genre :: fluff
୨୧﹑content :: gn reader, child character
୨୧﹑words :: 828
omg so I meant to do more of these back when I posted childe's but then I just never got around to it Idk why because they were cute and people wanted more of them and I actually have one for scaramouche in my drafts?? so here's sandrone
all little siblingification posts
Tumblr media
Sandrone is not the fondest of her family, and I really don't think she ever has been, but there are exceptions, as with everything. She still holds you dear to her even now.
She misses your affections, really, like being sat in front of you while you would fix her hair. She likes how it feels as you brush the knots out of her hair, gentle enough not to hurt too much and overly apologetic to every noise she makes so that you know she's not too hurt by it. She doesn't know how you did it, just that she would recreate it in a heartbeat.
There were also the times you'd carry her around on your back, body tired and walking becoming too difficult. While her parents didn't want to hear of it, you were on your knees in a heartbeat, offering she gets on. Sandrone liked how close she got to be to you, snuggling up to your back, arms loosely around your neck as she looked over your shoulder and watched the streets go by. Your parents never liked your doing that, but you never seemed to care, laughing it off and carrying on, refusing to put her down.
You didn't care if she denied her liking for things or hid her overexcitement. The moment she wanted to go somewhere, you would take her if you could. Festivals, stores, events, the theatre if you had the money. You would save up every single mora you worked for to be able to take her to the theatre for her birthday and let her watch the performance. She was only vaguely aware of how little your parents contributed toward that, thinking they had been a part of it just as you told her it was a gift from all of you.
She'd go on talking about it for weeks, then start again by the time her next birthday came.
She loved the snacks you'd sneak her, buying her things while the two of you were out and feeding them to her over your shoulder, even your own snacks, which she claimed to not want, but would gobble up without a hint of hesitation before admitting they were only "Ok".
Along with these trips she remembers, Sandrone treasures every doll you made her. Even the wonky ones you tried to make by hand when you were a little short on cash. They weren't particularly pretty in a conventional sense and didn't have the same flawless charm as many dolls, nor were they made of porcelain.
Your handmade fabric dolls are imperfectly perfect. The eyes are a bit misaligned, and maybe the mouth is crooked. The arms aren't the same length either, but it hardly matters to her. It was your gift to her, and though she couldn't sit with you and marvel at how beautiful she was like your other gifts of dolls, she could certainly do that herself.
She could sit those dolls among her collection and treat them like priceless works of care and passion because they were. You may not be and probably never will be a famous dollmaker, but they're the most valuable in her heart.
No famous artist would make something that unprofessional, but something about that makes it better. It was made with your love for her.
Besides, she's still sleeping with the first one you made her. Porcelain dolls don't make very good bed buddies. Especially not when trying to sneak into your sibling's bed in the middle of the night to cuddle them where you feel safest. Somehow even if she's so sure she can go back to sleep after she wakes up, she will lay there for what feels like hours (it has been five minutes) and try to sleep only to concede that the other way to sleep is to go get in your bed and cuddle you.
She usually wakes up without you, wrapped up in blankets to keep her warm, and to you shaking her awake after leaving her to sleep in, probably because she stayed up too late. Sandrone's presence is not always unwanted, but you wish she'd stop staying up until ungodly hours of the night to do whatever it is she's doing at that hour, but at least you cover for her. You always tell your parents she's off playing, all the while knowing that you've concealed her in your bed and wait until there's an opportunity to drag her out of bed, clothe and feed her.
It's nice to sleep in sometimes.
Every time you try to leave, there's a child-sized growth attached to your leg, begging you to stay and play with her, usually because she's bored and has no one else willing to entertain her. You wish you could, but know you have to pull her off, kiss her head, and set her back down on the floor.
She wishes you would kiss her forehead in that way even now.

The Inx: Jinx's Great and Terrible Devotees in Spite of Conv/rgence
The most annoying thing about Conv/rgence as a game is that it introduces great concepts, like the Inx, but just fumbles the execution of them and the overall story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Conv/rgence the Inx are a new chempunk gang of Zaunite teens and young adults that idolize and borderline worship Jinx to the point where they're said to spread chaos in her name. But the Zaun that Conv/rgence establishes tells a different story about the Inx from the intended description.
Tumblr media
The first time the Inx appear is in the Conv/rgence comic, where the lead members like Chadd play at the Triumph Festival. It's supposed to be a Zaunite festival to celebrate Jayce's defeating Viktor, the Machine Herald. If the Inx follow Jinx's lifestyle why would they even play at such an event to celebrate a Piltovan, and why would Zaunites think the Inx wouldn't make trouble over it? I could go on about how weird it is for Zaun to host a festival to celebrate Jayce, a Piltovan champion for a fight unrelated to them and their wellbeing, but that would take too long.
Tumblr media
For people who admire Jinx's boldness, the best they can do in the comics is pretty harmless vandalism where they just graffiti Jinx's monkey tag over some walls. The Inx are also nowhere to be seen in major events like the Scraptown Run, which apparently all Zaun gangs participate in.
Tumblr media
Then there's members like Moshpit Meg. Meg's a diehard Jinx fan that loves Jinx's attitude and dedication to explosions. Before that Meg was admired Vi, the enforcer, because Vi's gauntlets reminded Meg of her own naturally big fists and it made her feel less self conscious about her own hands. That second half begs too many questions I don't have time for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Outside of aesthetic choices there isn't really anything about the Inx that says they're people who stake their identity around Jinx. This is largely because Conv/rgence's universe works hard to sanitize Zaunite grievances against Piltover which directly undermines the central class conflict between Zaun and Piltover. It also largely impacts the motivations and general existence of characters like Jinx and the people who follow her, like the Inx, because they wouldn't exist in the absence of Piltover's oppression.
To avoid addressing any real conflict between the two cities the Inx are only vaguely make sense in the story, especially the game. All except for one element, Chadd. I need to say this...
Chadd is Accidentally (on Purpose?) Great
Tumblr media
The brief moments the audience gets to know Chadd's character gives us an interesting glimpse at the people Jinx inspires.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first thing we know about Chadd is that he's a musician, and it's neat trait that connects him to the musical roots of Jinx's character. In League, Jinx was the first champion in League to debut with a music video. It was through Jinx's character that Riot and Fortiche begun experimenting League with music. So it's very fitting that Convergence creates a chorus of sorts for Jinx to continue that musical tradition. To add to that, the game's promo posters decided to reestablish Jinx's connections by making her a talented karaoke singer.
Tumblr media
The next thing to know about Chadd is that he was the one who planne and organized the Inx to transform a rundown theatre into an airborne concert arena. Red, Ekko's close friend and romantic interest in the game, confirmed that it was Chadd who was the one to make it happen, within a week too. It's an impressive creative feat that's clearly in homage to "Get Jinxed's" aerial imagery. Despite how cool a stunt that was I couldn't see how it was meant to impress Jinx, she was the most destructive thing in the theater... until I read the transcript "Hold me like a Fermata".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A shotgun, a flame thrower... who's funeral were you planning Chadd!??!? Just for context this was a transcript Ekko found of Chadd and the Inx talking about a new weapon (and sound system?) Chadd seemed to have made. I'm sure Chadd was the one who made it because the Fermata is also the name of a musical note that represents a pause (sometimes dramatic) in a score.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you're familiar with music you might also know that the Fermata has more than one name, it's also referred to as "the Cyclops Eye". That kind of reference to Silco used on a weapon for a later act to honor Jinx couldn't have been lost on the writers because the Eye of Zaun was already found on an Inx hangout.
Tumblr media
When I finally noticed all these details I finally got that Chadd is dangerously devoted to Jinx. All the points in his character can only lead us to conclude the real plan wasn't to just play obnoxiously loud music when the theater reached Piltover's heights, it was to destroy Piltover with all the weapons they equipped on it. That's the best idea I can come up with because Jinx immediately throws bombs at their plan to cause havoc in Piltover... for reasons. It does match Jinx's track record at least, usually other dangerous or apathetic champions tend to appreciate her, like Urgot, Renata Glasc, and Khada Jhin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Chadd's concept art communicates that he's probably more devoted to Jinx than rest of the Inx. The way his early design evolves to reflect Jinx's influence could even tell a story. The more this douchey glam rocker finds inspiration in Jinx the more he changes himself and his art to reflect Jinx's impact. Chadd grows his hair out, wears his tattoo of Jinx in the same place she wears hers, and even dresses more like her, but he still retains his own diva personality.
One last thing, the funniest thing about Chadd is the fact that both Ekko and Red seperately ask him to explain himself and what "statement" he's trying to make with the Inx. Chadd just flat out refuses to answer, and even breaks up with Red over that. I thought he was being douche (he was), but then I remembered Jinx doesn't explain herself in game either about the mayhem she causes, she just taunts anyone who asks. The student learns from the master I guess.
Tldr: In the Converegence game and comics the Inx are characterized by mild vandalism and pretentious artists. And I could almost get behind that idea if only Convergence wasn't so heavily biased towards Piltover the dynamics of a group like the Inx could have had a more interesting exploration in their motivations and goals. Also, Chadd is a dipshit and he makes a great follower of Jinx!

Most importantly, we'll be performing some brand new unreleased songs from our upcoming fifth studio album. [We] just cannot wait to share what we've been working on for the last two years. This will be without a doubt a banger of a tour … We're looking forward to this so much!"
JINJER fall 2024 North American tour dates:
Sep. 20 - Sayreville, NJ @ Starland Ballroom Sep. 21 - Brooklyn, NY @ Metal Injection Fest Sep. 22 - Pittsburgh, PA @ Roxian Theatre Sep. 23 - Toronto, ON @ Danforth Music Hall Sep. 24 - Montreal, QC @ MTELUS Sep. 26 - Harrisburg, PA @ HMAC Sep. 27 - Baltimore, MD @ Baltimore Soundstage Sep. 29 - Louisville, KY @ Louder Than Life Oct. 01 - Charlotte, NC @ The Fillmore Oct. 02 - Atlanta, GA @ Buckhead Theatre Oct. 03 - Lake Buena Vist, FL @ House Of Blues Oct. 04 - North Myrtle Beach, SC @ House Of Blues Oct. 06 - Houston, TX @ House Of Blues Oct. 07 - San Antonio, TX @ The Aztec Theatre Oct. 09 - Denver, CO @ Ogden Theatre Oct. 11 - Las Vegas, NV @ House Of Blues Oct. 12 - San Bernardino, CA @ Mayhem Festival Oct. 13 - Sacramento, CA @ Aftershock Festival
During an appearance on a recent episode of Knotfest's "She's With The Band", the show hosted by Tori Kravitz, JINJER vocalist Tatiana Shmailyuk spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to the band's 2021 album "Wallflowers". Tatiana said: "My purpose is just to write lyrics and sing them. I'm so behind right now with the writing lyrics. And I warned my guys. We were at least to get a really rough draft, rough sketch or a demo of one song, like maybe first single from the new album, at least get this, but nope. [Stress and creativity don't] work with me. Well, but when the deadline's coming, and everybody knows that — I've been talking, like, every single time we release a new album, I say that, I say this — deadlines push me. So I just have to write, so I get this stream of consciousness, basically. I write down whatever the bullshit is in my head. And then you build it. At least you have to have bricks to build a poem or whatever it is, just lyrics."
Regarding the musical direction of the new JINJER material, Tatiana said: "It's gonna be different, first of all, because I feel that the music differs a lot. And to my mind, the whole — I won't say how many songs are there; I guess 12 or even 15; let's say 13; I don't remember — but they all have… not all of them, but half of them, at least, they have a similarity in them. They're similar to each other or they remind me. They have this concept within — without any lyrics, they still sound like they belong to one box. They are a set of songs. And I already think about all the… I'm not even thinking about like the lyrics — I think about the topics and stuff, but I think about the booklet or the cover or even the music videos and what I'm gonna wear there. And it has a certain flavor to me that… I feel like it has this flavor of 19th century. It's very romanticism from the 19th century. If you listen to it, you will think, 'Oh.' You know, when you listen to MUSE, you feel he was inspired by a lot of classical composers — obviously. So our new music has this flavor. And I'm so excited."
JINJER released its first official live DVD/Blu-ray, "Live In Los Angeles", on May 17 via Napalm Records. Recorded and filmed on December 22, 2022 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, this offering is intended to celebrate not only getting through the last few years in one piece, but also the band's 15-year career.
"Live In Los Angeles" was a spontaneous decision by the band, recorded as raw as possible, to emphasize the passion that can come from a live show. This release is an explosive mixture of JINJER's discography — featuring fan favorites like "Sit Stay Roll Over", "Home Back" and the game-changing "Pisces". The live album contains 16 songs in various audio formats, with some strictly limited: the deluxe digipack features not only a DVD, but also two more songs, "Wallflower" and "Disclosure!", recorded in Paris in 2023.
JINJER is:

Put your music player of choice on shuffle and list the first 10 songs. I'll use my 2024 top songs for this --
Credit Roll - RM
mon amour - Gemini
Figure 8 - Paramore
Escape Route - Paramore
Neva Play - Megan Thee Stallion, RM
Be Mine - Jimin
High Speed - Coldplay
everythingoes - RM, Nell
Don't - eAeon, RM
Welcome to the Show - DPR IAN
Do you have connections to any celebrities (even minor)? Like, family ties? No. But if we're talking loosely and can count any kind or any level of connection, then yeah. I work in PR so working with celebrities is pretty much routine. The most high-profile I've gotten is Red Velvet.
Name 3 items you could pick up from where you are. Cup of coffee, vape pen, a box of nama chocolates.
What kind of headphones do you use? No headphones but I use a pair of Airpods.
What musical artists have you seen perform live? Sooooooooo many if we're counting major concerts, music festivals, school fairs, free mall shows... but for the sake of this question I'll list major concerts - Paramore, Agust D/Suga, Seventeen, Coldplay, One Direction, Se So Neon.
What gaming consoles do you or your family own? We've got a PS4, PS5, and a Switch.
Name at least one book you loved as a child. The Septimus Heap series.
What’s your native language? If that language has distinct regional variations, which variation? (eg. AU English, US English) Filipino, but I can only speak basic, white-ass Manila Tagalog.
What’s your favourite number, and why? 7, just because BTS.
Earliest moment in your life you can remember? Waking up in a tent with my sister, inside my parents' room. We went 'camping,' haha.
What’s your favourite candy/chocolate? Reese's! Alfort is also pretty addictive.
How would you describe your sense of humour? Witty, laced with pop culture references...sometimes offensive/dark, sometimes crack/dank/Gen Z. Idk it's all over the place as I can laugh at anything haha.
Do you wear much jewellery? No.
Longest drive you have ever been on? Oh man - as lovely as our trip to Sagada was, the drive was brutal distance-wise and road quality-wise. We left home around 8 PM and got there 2 PM the following day. I'd SO go back there, though, especially since I haven't been there since 2015.
Furthest away from home you have ever been? Probably Japan.
What programs do you currently have open? Just Chrome, but I do have multiple tabs open.
Last strong smell you can remember smelling? Bleach.
Ever written fanfiction for anything? I took a shot at it but holy shit did I realize how much I suck and how creative writing isn't for me hahah. I focused on my essay/non-fiction writing skills not very long after, and accepted the fact that I'd much rather enjoy fanfiction written by other people.
Do you track any tags? Nah.
What are some media that epitomize an ideal relationship to you — be it a platonic relationship/friendship, a  parental relationship, a romantic or sexual relationship, etc.? I love Chandler and Monica soooo much. They started out as friends and even when they got together they had the most non-toxic, buddy-buddy relationship there could be.
Have you ever hit your significant other? Has he/she ever hit you? No and no.
What colour is your hairbrush/comb? It's a purple comb.
Do you care about anyone that doesn’t care about you? Not that I know of, lol.
Which one of your relatives is most likely to embarrass you? My mom.
Do you usually get popcorn or soda at the movie theatre? I don't like either of those and have had a consistent snack of choice for years - Potato Corner. Malls seems to notice that it's also a habit of most people because there's always a Potato Corner conveniently placed beside most cinemas hahaha.
The one time I tried to ~shake it up~ and try something different was when I got sushi for RM's docu. I ended up eating the rolls by hand because I grossly underestimated how difficult it was going to be to use chopsticks in the dark HAHAHAHA
How many bank accounts do you have? I have two accounts witin the same bank.
Have you ever had the flu? Sure.
What is your goal for the next few months? Find order and balance in my work.
Have you ever had some kind of sleep-disorder? No.
Have you ever had food poisoning before? Yeah. I've had the kind where it gives you mind-numbing stomach pain and leaves you curling up on the bathroom floor; but also the quieter kind where you just slowly feel fatigued and pale until your body pushes you to throw up, and keep throwing up.
Always terrible experiences, both of them.
What are two things that you have no problem paying full price for? Parking, and the best seats for concerts I REALLY want to watch.
Ever been to a haunted house? How scared were you? Nah.
Would you marry somebody who was intensely religious? I wouldn't and I bet they wouldn't want to marry me either.
Did you pull a senior prank? That's not a practice here and if anything that would be grounds for the school to refuse you from marching, lol.
Did you graduate? I graduated college if that's what you mean, yes.
What was the last song you listened to? Talking to the Moon, Bruno Mars.
Is fashion one of your interests? Not really.
Is acting something you enjoy? Nope.
What was the last thing you broke/sprained? My left ankle, but thankfully it's been nearly 3 years since.
Has a stranger ever yelled at you for your language? Nope.
Whose house, other than yours and your families’, are you most comfortable at? Angela's.
Have you ever burned someone’s picture? No, just threw them out. I'm afraid of fire hehe
Would you ever get a lip tattoo? Nope.
Do your parents smoke cigarettes? They do not.
What does one of your T-shirts have written on it? I barely have clothes with text on them, but I do have a BTS shirt that simply says 'Busan' on it alongside its Korean alphabet counterparts.
Name a pet you definitely wouldn’t want. Lizard.
What did you love the most about the town you grew up in? Life is simpler here and is a break from crazy, fast-paced, polluted Manila.
What’s a book that you read because everyone else was reading it? That's pretty much how I ended up in the Twilight (supermassive) black hole. It was EVERYWHERE when I was in Grade 4 and offered literally no escape so I ended up saying fuck it and reading it too.
Underwater or outer space? Outer space.
Bird watching or whale watching? Whale watching.
What was your best subject in school? History and any variation of it. Asian history, world history, social history...the required readings were pretty much leisure reading for me since I genuinely loved the subject.
What was your worst subject in school? Trigonometry, calculus, chemistry.
Diamonds or pearls? Diamonds.

Note
okk so for my boys being from 1940s, anything related to music I have down but I have NO IDEA how life operated back then and since you mentioned it I haven't been the same since please talk to me all you want abt the '40s
imma be honest, most of my knowledge on the 40s is either about the war or the precursor to the war, so probably not the most helpful of info-remember to do your own research for extra information!
with that, some quick bullet points cuz I can’t sort thoughts concisely:
Okay so to get into the 40s we gotta go at least 10 years before that cuz that’s also important: the Great Depression hits in 1929-not just in America, but the rest of the world as well-the US supposedly suffers the worst (aside from Germany, which was in debt from the first world war and their crippled economy as a result of the treaty of Versailles). I’m assuming your story takes place in the US?-otherwise I’d probably have to do some digging to find you some facts. But yea, with the stock market crash in the 20’s, tons of people were placed out of jobs, banks closed, people started living out on the streets. Government started creating random corporations to give people jobs after 1932-FDR’s presidency.
Fun fact, the radio was around at this point, so if you wanna listen to tunes, there’s your ticket. TV was a thing, but it became more popular in the mid 40s because it was used to showcase propaganda-televised entertainment became a thing in the 50s.
Anyways, some laws were passed and stuff to give people jobs-not all of them would be considered important for you, I think, cuz most of them were environmental or economical-the Workers Progress Administration was a thing though, and it hired artists and actors and others for their talent, if that’s of any importance.
Corporations weren’t faring much better either, especially the entertainment industry. The 20s were their peak years, with film being introduced and festivals or carnivals brought in cities-but with the crash of the market and extreme poverty, not too many people wanted to spend money on amusement over food. So a lot of those industries lost money and laid off a lot of people before either shutting down or being extremely poor.
Nother fun fact-ovens and stoves existed at this time, similar to how they are today-just in case one of your guys needs to make their human pal some food on their possibly outdated technology. Telephones were also available to the public by the 20s, the landlines.
Games like Monopoly (kinda ironic that it was made during the Depression), Scrabble, Sorry, and the Game of Life (originally made in 1860) were popular at the time-plus actual sports. Yes, kick the can was a thing around this time, you can make that reference.
If you want literature, I'm told island adventure stories were pretty popular for kids at the time (you'd have to double check that one, though, cuz I'm not too sure)-Superman and other heroes were a thing in the late 30's early 40s-Donald Duck comic strips were early 30s. Comedies and dramas/romances were popular in both literature and theatre (Charlie Chaplin was pretty funny), though they had this trope of things magically working in their favor until sometime in the 20s (you're gonna need to check that one cuz again, this isn't really my strong suit).
The Depression really only evened out with the start of the war-the US needed to militarize and stock up on their artillery, which meant a ton of job openings in that department, and other ones related-car companies (yea cars were a thing-you'd have to check how accessible they are though, that's not really my strong suit in history-only thing I remember is Ford releasing a model in the 20s) started building tanks, film productions started making propaganda videos (donald duck was a common character in Disney's anti-nazi propaganda for some reason), toy companies sold toy soldiers and guns to kids to convince them to support the war effort. Propaganda had advanced after ww1, which meant bigger, more eye-catching headlines in the media and clever usage of poster layouts and formatting to persuade people. The US stayed neutral up until 1941, though it did provide resources for the Allies who were fighting Germany.
That's basically all I have about the 40s-again, most of it is about the war and the economy, so not sure how much that would help. Maybe FazCo went bankrupt during the Depression and prompted your carnival to shut down?-I can see it trying to start more locations in the MidWest or something (the Plex is in Utah, if I remember correctly, though I don't know how important that is to your plotline) and scrapped it after the Depression and the War? I dunno, take your story in whichever direction you'd like, it'd be interesting any way you make it! Thanks for the opportunity to ramble, by the way-I hardly ever get to talk history or philosophy on here, so it's pretty refreshing! Hope this helped, thanks for droppin by!

favorite color(s): Red, purple, but I like all colors
favorite flavor(s): I have a huge sweet tooth, so I'd say chocolate and also fruity flavors like bananas and strawberries.
favorite music: Honestly, I think I can say that I listen mostly everything. I've come to the conclusion that I don't really care about the genre, if I like a song, I like it and that's about it. And that's why my playlist is a mess, especially when I put it on shuffle lmao
favorite movie(s): It's so hard to pick, there are so many good ones! But I recently watched Tokyo Godfathers, that one automatically jumped in my top favourites. I also really liked Grave of Fireflies (even though it's quite a heavy movie), Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, The Handmaiden (let's go lesbians, let's go), Perfect Blue, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Jigsaw franchise (and honestly, I think the 10th movie might be my favourite), The Fear Street Trilogy, Coraline, What We Do In The Shadows, Train To Busan
Honorable mentions: I think Gremlins is starting to grow on me, especially the second movie because I love that the production team didn't take it all too seriously, I do like when some movies are self-aware how silly they actually are. Also shoutout to The Sadness. Am I ever going to watch that movie ever again? Probably not, it was a very disturbing movie. But this is not your usual zombie movie, if I can even call it a zombie movie, which surprised me? Like, it definitely does have those elements of the apocalyptic zombie genre but turned it completely over its head by making the infected actually aware of the things they're doing but not being able to stop it. Again, it is a disturbing movie, it's not for everybody. I personally don't see myself watching it twice. Plus, finding out that the director has said something like that he wanted to focus more on the "fun and the gore" other than anything else in a Q&A did sound quite sussy to me given the heavy topics and the ways the movie could be interpreted. Idk, as philology and literature major it just keeps getting confirmed to me that most, if not all works of art, no matter in what form, have something to say and they deeply reflect the time in which they were created, and there's always the subjectivity of the viewer who interprets it in their own way (like hell, even the superheroes in movies these days most likely take a whole lot of inspiration from Greek mythology, if you really think about it). Some people have mentioned that the director might have answered the way that he did as to not stir up controversy since it was at a festival, but I can't say for sure, I wasn't there to see the interview myself and this is already getting really long so I will stop now, you can make your own conclusions.
favorite series: Courage the cowardly dog, The Scooby-Doo franchise, Are You Afraid Of The Dark (I'm talking about the 90's series, I haven't watched the 2019 revival). Do I remember anything from them? Kind of, it's been a very long time since I've watched them. I kind of want to rewatch them because of it. But they sparked my interest in all things spooky when I was a kid so I feel like they deserve a place here. Some of my other favourites include: The Untamed, Serial Experiments Lain, Steins;Gate, Semantic Error, Another, My Roommate is a Detective, Wellington Paranormal, What We Do In The Shadows, Hellbound and Sweet Home (I do recommend reading the webtoons of those two, though), Death Parade, The Silent Sea, Color Rush, Squid Game, My Beautiful Man, Good Omens, Our Flag Means Death, Alice on Borderland, My Name, Yellowjackets, Theatre of Darkness: Yamishibai
last song: Ruler Of My Heart by BL8M & Rubyeye & Unknown (Till The End) by AKUGETSU (Alien Stage OSTs) (tw for blood and a bit of gory imagery in the MVs for anyone who wants to check them out). Also can I also just talk about the 1st Anniversary Remixes of those two songs too!!! (here and here, audio only). Just *cheff's kiss*, I love those songs so much, I want to eat them. The story all these animations is quite interesting, the animations themselves are very well done too. How can I describe it. The story kind of takes that deadly game trope (like, let's say in the Hunger Games and Alice in Borderland), but make it about people being forced to be in a singing competition against each other to survive and they are being judged by aliens. From what I know, I could be wrong, the main way of storytelling is through the MVs on the VIVINOS YT channel so it does require a bit to analyze (there is a bit of a additional info on the official website and on the wiki, I'm sure), so if any of that sound interest you, I would recommend checking it out
last series: Choco Milk Shake
last movie: The Cat Returns
currently reading: So Long, And Thank for All The Fish from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books. I'm so happy of how much progress I've done on reading those books compiled in one huge book, I'm halfway through the series now. And honestly I want to read it for as long as I can because I really enjoy it, it's so fun, I love the absurd situation the main characters fall into while the big question of the meaning of life, the Universe and everything looms over them. This would definitely go in one of my top books I've read I'm sure.
And I also have to mention the webtoons that I'm reading because I love them very much too: Hand Jumper, The Blind Prince, Lore Olympus, Zombie X Slasher (I don't know in what kind of direction this one would go, but so far so good!), Everything is Fine, Flawed Almighty, Homesick (I love love LOVE this one! The art style and everything is great), Never Ending Darling (I know that it's gonna end in like 2 days officially once the last episode is available to read for free, but damn, what a ride this was. The concept of this webtoon is terrifying), Omniscient Reader, My S-Class Hunters, ZOMGAN (also quite an interesting and honestly refreshing way of making a story about zombies), Nocturne and The Guy Upstairs
And special highlight to: There Are No Demons. This webtoon? An absolute nightmare fuel. I find it very interesting that the artist Nemo Nullus makes 3D models first and then draws over them. I wasn't so sure how to feel like it when I first saw it, this was the first time I've seen anything like it on webtoon, but I quickly grew to like this art style, the kind of weird realism and uncanny valley really add to the stories. And the stories themselves are very scary because these are things that could actually happen, and have most likely happened in real life too, especially that first story with the stalker. This webtoon has made me feel things no other horror/thriller webtoon has made me feel, I feel like I want to crawl out of my own body when I'm reading it, really.
currently watching: Nothing in particular, just random YT videos. I do have some shows to catch up on that I already mentioned here.
currently working on: Mostly focusing on studying a bit more for my exam on monday. But once I'm done I'll be back to doing more stuff here, hopefully ❤️

Past Lives [1.1]

Masterlist
A/N: Thanks for all the birthday wishes, guys! For those who are eagerly awaiting the next part of the Neighbour, it is coming. Slowly, but surely, it us under construction. Meanwhile, I have another indulgent piece for y'all to enjoy below 🥰
Warnings: smut ahead
The time had come.
With a listless thanksgiving come and gone and Christmas just around the corner, 2021 would be wrapping up with a bang for many and people were excited over future endeavours to come. The pandemic was almost over and a large amount of the population had been vaccinated. There was a renewed sense of optimism in the air, clouded just a bit by the uncertainty for more curve balls coming peoples' way.
Austin's flight had gotten in a few days ago, and he'd taken the time to readjust to the time change and his new, but familiar surroundings. He was in a new place in LA now, and just as before he had to get himself into some new habits. He was especially grateful to have the opportunity for a tearful reunion with his sister and his dad. In three tumultuous, truly tedious years, he was finally beginning to feel whole.
Jade however was still struggling, not that she would let anybody know.
The news had broke that she had signed a deal with Warner Brothers to produce part of the soundtrack for the new Batman movie, on top of that Cam was already speaking to press about the possible release of new music. There was a lot to look forward to for Jade, but there was also a lot of immense pressure that came with it. Arena tours and festivals, movie soundtracks, it was all a walk in the park at this stage in the game. It was nothing she couldn't handle, at least that was what she had been assuring herself.
Both Austin and Jade had a lot to look forward to, especially on that brisk Tuesday evening. California in winter was never truly cold, but there was a distinctive chill in the air, the change in season complimented by leaves turning from lush green to bold oranges and reds and the dreaded pumpkin spice latte was being marketed everywhere.
He tried to repress his nerves as he read the menu outside, then he flipped through his social media; that did little to calm his nerves of course. He wondered about what they might talk about, thought long and hard about what had been lingering in the back of his mind for months, though thought better than the chance that he might scare her away.
Around the corner, Jade's ankle boots clicked sharply against the pavement. She clung to her skirt to keep the gentle breeze from lifting it up, her eyes darting around until she spotted him, and she exhaled slowly.
He was leant against the wall outside the restaurant, a couple of building up from where her Uber had dropped her off, his figure and the way he held himself unmistakably Austin. At the mere sight of him she knew that even if she somehow forgot his face one day, she'd still be drawn to him beyond reason, she knew that no matter what she could never shake him.
It had been too long since she'd seen him, even by her own rationality and she let her mind wander back to the early summer, what he'd been wearing then, how he'd looked, what they'd promised each other. Joyful conversation, records on vinyl, books, deserts, pure, unadulterated joy after years of stress and fear. Smiles in movie theatres, hidden to the wings of stages. Dancing in the living room. Wine -- too much wine. Drunken, slurred compliments. His hips. Her lips. Touches. Softness. Intimacy.
She took a quick puff from her vape to settle her nerves.
As she found the strength in her legs to approach him, Jade realized that he looked a little tired; probably was tired with the filming of his project fully finished and the time change knocking him on his head. Nevertheless, he had insisted on them coming out together the first night that worked for them both. The jet lag and fatigue be damned. His hair was fluffy, locks of strands falling over his forehead and yet styled in a way like he'd tried just enough and his jawline was sharper than she remembered, only accentuated by the darkness. He was dressed with his carhartt jacket thrown over a black shirt, his dark jeans loose but accentuated his height and the shape of his thighs, his chelsea boots tapped gently against the pavement, his dark blue eyes reflective in the glow from the street lamp above. She never got tired of looking at him, watching him simply be.
Another puff.
Austin turned his head and when he spotted her, his entire face lit up, the corners of his lips turning up immediately.
God, she was beautiful.
Austin was walking to meet her halfway before he even thought to move, but he couldn't stop, didn't stop until he was stood right in front of her, his knees weak from how close she was to him after the countless days. He watched amused as she quickly buried her vape into her pocket, her lengthened hair falling just perfectly at the sides of her face.
"Hi,"
"Hi," she smiled back.
Up close, the details fell into place; the crease between her eyebrows when she concentrated enough, the freckles under her eyes, her chapped lips, old piercing scar in his nostril. The warm green of her eyes was familiar but he'd missed it so much it could've knocked him over.
"Hi..." Austin chuckled shakily.
She was wearing sheer tights and black boots, and a little black skirt and a green jumper. her hair feel in soft waves, now brushing across her shoulders, tamed just enough and her face had the natural flow to it he'd always known.
"You look..." he pursed his lips, shaking his head as he searched for the adjective to fit his declaration. There was no word that quite worked for her right now and he found himself rendered speechless, just like the first time in the park.
"... Bad? Good?" she laughed, the nerves clear in her voice at his silence, "Utterly unattractive or embarrassing to be seen with in public?"
"Wha -- no, Jade," he laughed off, "You look amazing," he took a single step closer, another deep breath in, "I mean, you always look amazing, but... you just do..."
"Well, it has been six months and some months," she simpered.
"Can I -- um, do we hug now or...?" she answered for him as she reached her arms out. He wrapped his arms around her tightly, pulling her against his chest and Jade held onto him in disbelief, the way his hands pressed against her back, the way his fingers stroked through the knots at the back of her head completely overwhelming, even the idea of him being her, in LA, with her, after years and year -- it was too much.
Her sharp, citrusy performed hit him forcefully, then became a comfort, "I missed you,"
"I missed you, too," she replied softly, his warmth flooded through her like a long forgotten memory.
Austin sniffled as they pulled away, his hands lingering at her waist before her buried them in his jacket pockets. Her mouth had never seemed so inviting, her lips a deep pink and he thought about kissed her with everything he had; though he thought better of it. He waited this long, he could wait a while longer.
"So, shall we?" he asked, motioned his head for the door.
Jade nodded with enthusiasm, her fingernails burying themselves in her palms as Austin led her into the restaurant, holding the door, the smile on his face aching.
The restaurant was fairly quiet, an upper scale place lit with candles and industrial looking overhead bulbs. They got a table in the back corner, secluded enough that it almost felt like they had the place to themselves. As they waited for their server to come he sat kitty corner to her and he felt his confidence waver, but then remember who he was, who she was, and basked in how good it felt to be here.
"You look great," Jade said suddenly, forcing him to lift his head to meet her faze, "I don't think I said... you look -- you look great,"
"Thank you," he smiled, raking his free hand through his hair, "Even with my eye circles?"
"Didn't even notice," she laughed gently and though Austin could tell she was lying, he was comforted by the sincerity of her previous compliment.
They ordered a half litre of wine to share and some snacks to nibble on for the first little while. He watched her lipstick leave a slight stain on the glass, noted the dark red polish on her nails and took a long sip of his wine, his ring clicking against the stem.
"So, what's been happening in your world?" he asked.
"Nothing," she said, gently laughing at his attempt at small talk, "Nothing... and everything, I guess,"
"I heard, you've been very busy," Austin hummed, "When did this Batman thing come about?"
"Cam signed me for the deal last year; I didn't believe him at first when he brought it up," she shrugged.
He nodded, "And I guess your NDA finally ran out," he concluded.
"Which means now I can talk about it without fear of being sued," she chuckled, "You had to sign one for Elvis, right?"
"That and a whole bunch of other mumbo-jumbo paperwork swearing me to secrecy," he muttered, his fingers tapping against the table, "What kind of songs you have?"
Jade knew she was being evasive, but also couldn't help herself. They both knew bigger conversation Jason the cards tonight, inevitable, unavoidable and now that he was sat in front of her, shuffling closer between each sentence, his cologne pulling her in, she wanted nothing more than to skip to the good bit, "Emo industrial," she chuckled anxiously, "It's two or three songs, but a lot of them took influence from Nine Inch Nails and Nirvana. I hope they'll do well,"
"They will," Austin nodded, "You don't look convinced," he noted how she fidgeted as she talked about it.
She bit down on her lip, "I scream in them," she admitted.
"You scream?" he queried, "How do you mean, like --"
"Not like -- to the point where you can't understand, but -- yeah," her face felt flush, "Like My Chemical Romance, kind of screaming,"
He nodded, "Okay, I see. Don't take this the wrong way, but I cannot imagine you doing that," he smirked coyly.
Jade shook her head with a laugh, curls falling into face which she was quick to tuck behind her despite despite the obvious red glow in her cheeks, "Bet your ass I had to work on that," she said, "I was recording when Flo came home and she thought I'd straight up lost my mind,"
He scrunched his nose, the image of her doing such just barely weaving together in his mind, "Guess I'll have to ask her about that when I see her next,"
"Please don't," she giggled into her glass as she lifted her to her lips, "I traumatized her that day, she hasn't forgiven me yet," Austin pouted dramatically before his smile cracked at her laughter.
"I missed your laugh," he mumbled, unable to hold back his word, "And that smile..."
She inhaled, trying to even her breath at the sentimentality, "You saw both when he chatted last week," she pointed out.
"I know, but it's not the same," he rebutted. His eyes were shining brightly under the lights, his expression soft and she longed to reach out and touch him, stroke back the loose strands of hair that had fallen into his face, but took a sip from her wine to sedate her need.
"Anyway, your filming's all done?" she asked, swallowing hard.
Austin nodded, "Masters of the Air has officially concluded -- my parts anyway," he grinned, "My manager said to expect calls for reshoots in the new year,"
"Let's hope you can get away with those here," she said, "You've been looking after yourself, right?"
"I feel good," he assured, "A lot of that I owe to you,"
"Me?" she popped a brow, "What did I do?"
He shook his head gently, "I'm not sure... but in the two weeks I spent with you in June, I felt more like myself than I had in two and half years,"
She gave a smile and a nod, comforted by his answer but the sparkle in his eyes had her heart racing. She tapped indecisively at the stem of her wine glass, "Glad I could help," she inhaled slowly. Where she'd been so reluctant to rush before, the urgency was now uncontainable as she couldn't hold back any longer, "Austin..."
"Jade?"
"Should we..." she motioned at the small space between them, felt her bottom lip quiver when she felt his fingers nudge against hers, "... Should we talk about this?"
Austin swallowed hard and tried to hold her gaze, "This?"
She nodded gently, her head barely moving.
Austin sighed, "Tell you the truth, Jade... I'm fucking nervous..."
"Nervous?" she repeated, somewhat surprised, her cheeks flushing at the clear emotion in his face, "How do you think I feel?"
"Exactly," he chuckled nervously, taking a brief second to look down at the table, at their hands, before he could face the surreality of their situation, "We never talked about this when we were apart. I don't know why,"
"Because it didn't feel so real," Jade replied, more of an insight then a suggestion, "We don't have to if you're not feeling --"
"No, no, it's okay," he laced his fingers with hers, drew patterns up the side of her pinky finger with his thumb as he spoke, "I don't -- like I told you before, I'll move at whatever pace you're comfortable with. Because you know, we had fun in London but, I know it was a spur of the moment thing. And if you have regrets --"
"I don't!" she interrupted him swiftly, "I mean -- sorry..."
"It's okay, if you want to --"
"No, no. Please," she nodded, "Keep going,"
Austin dipped his head again, avoiding her gaze, the pine green evoking emotions he didn't know what to do with. He was too happy, too uncertain; every plan he'd had before she stepped back into his life had vanished.
"What I want to say is if you ever have regrets, or feel like this is getting out of control, or if you meet somebody else... we don't have to continue this," he motioned between them, "But, just know that I enjoy spending time with you, not just the physical aspect but all the ways we have, and I don't have second thoughts about anything,"
Jade didn't know what to do with herself. It wasn't as if she hadn't been expecting it, hadn't replayed versions of this conversation in her head over and over, but his words still affected her. Her jaw was locked with tension but a smile was twitching on her lips at the honestly and relief in his expression, "Fuck," she muttered, clutching her chest with her free hand. She parted her lips to speak, but all that came was her own relief as she scrambled for something of some intelligence to say.
"Are you... are you good?" Austin laughed, shifting closer to her side, his hand now resting fully on hers.
"I'm good," she admitted, pushing her tongue into her cheek to gather her thoughts. He was so close now that she was sure he could feel the racing in her chest, "I appreciate it. I..." she finally lifted her head again to the hold the intensity of his gaze, "I feel the same. And we can work out some more ground rules and boundaries later but... I agree. And no, I don't regret a thing, either,"
He let go of her hand and brought it up to her face, gently, tentatively, watching her eyelashes flutter as she fell into his touch, parted her lips in a sigh, shifting her flushed cheek against the palm of his hand.
When she found the strength to look at him again, his dark stare made her entire body shiver.
"What are the ground rules for this part?" he asked, his raspy voice falling into a low whisper.
She tilted her head, the intensity of his stare boring into her as her tongue tingled with the anticipation of what was to come, "Discreet, but blissful?"
"I can do that," and Austin's lips met Jade's naturally.
They were slow at first, careful, precise, every more anticipated and calculated, like retracing their steps. Austin worked his hips over hers gently, laced with need, kissing her just like he had in the elevator, in his living room.
Jade brushed his hair back form his face, sighing softly when his hand came down on her thigh too, the heat of his touch seeping through her tights. He filled her senses, his sharp cologne, his touch, everything seeking to remind her of how he consumed her.
As Jade began to draw away, Austin drew her in for another peck or two, smirking against her mouth, the two of them taking a deep breath to allow the gravity of the moment sink in before they opened their eyes to each other again.
They drank and dined merrily for the rest of the evening, catching up on the sporadic and they incoming ongoings they both had coming up. The trailer or photos for Elvis hadn't even come out yet, and Jade loved watching Austin talk about the project, even if it was just for a moment. There was this flicker of fear in his eyes, spawning form the fact that he prayed he did the King himself right, and yet that fear was intertwined by this bubbling excitement as he recounted some more onset mishaps and how -- surprise, surprise -- Tom Hanks was human, just like everyone else.
It was just before closing time the pair decided it was time to leave, heading out into the brisk, somewhat emptier street. Austin had his arm linked with Jade's, wandering aimlessly in front of the building as they waited for their Uber. Jade was leant up between the brick wall and Austin's shoulder, trying to will away her nerves that were evident in her constant fidgeting.
They took the car back to his place, he was closer than she was anyhow. It was a moderate house obscure enough that it wouldn't draw attention from any fan mobs or paps looking to make their next mark, but it was a beautiful Spanish style home with fresh white walls, rustic roof tiles, and a pool in the back discreetly hidden by the hedges and palm trees.
It was somewhere around midnight as they sat on the quaint back patio, the reflection of the aforementioned pool casting brilliant patterns across their surroundings. Another bottle of wine sat between them, only partially touched this time as they got lost in conversation again and again, regaining comfort around each other now.
"I'm thinking of adopting of a rabbit," she admitted.
"I thought you would have already?" Austin queried.
"Haven't thought about it much until now," Jade shrugged, "They're clean, they're good to travel... have I mentioned that?"
"Once or twice," he nodded, "I told you: a rabbit would suit you nicely,"
She smiled endearingly, looking out over the pool surface, "You want to get a pet?" she asked.
"I don't know. I used to have a dog,"
"I remember,"
"They're just a lot of work," he sighed, "I'm not sure I have the time to devote to one right now,"
"That's okay. You'll know when you're ready," she assured him, "Meanwhile... if you want to come down to the SPCA and pick out a rabbit with me...?"
He chuckled under his breath, "You know if I go with you, I'm gonna' see the dogs and I'm gonna' have to take one home," he pointed out.
Jade scoffed, "Like you with a puppy would be the worst thing in the world," she replied, "I'll help you take care of it,"
"Really?" he popped a brow.
"Sure. Only if you take care of my rabbit,"
"I'll take that deal,"
Jade's fingernails tapped mindlessly against the patio table, her dark red polish matched the varnished wood so perfectly. Austin watched her, still in somewhat disbelief that he was here with her, sitting in the patio with a pool he suddenly had and they rambled on about the most random things. It didn't feel real, but he felt so relaxed, so elated to have her back, even if it wouldn't be for too long, Austin knew he would take anything he could get.
She turned her gaze to meet his, blushing gently when she noticed him watching her, "What're you thinking about?" she asked softly.
He didn't want to tell her, he felt like he'd just be repeating himself over and over until she'd be sick of him. His gaze then turned onto the pool, an intrusive thought entering his head and suddenly inspiring him.
"I have an urge to jump into the pool," he remarked, "I haven't done that in a while,"
Jade simpered, "So, what's stopping you?" she asked.
"My overall dignity, I guess," he shrugged.
"Dignity is so 2019," and she nodded her head towards the pool, "You wanna?"
"Really?" he couldn't read whether she was being serious or not.
At that, Jade stood up, smoothing her hands over the wrinkles in her skirt, "Yeah. Why not?"
He stood up too and followed her to the pool, they kicked off their boots and stood at the edge. Austin glanced at her again, searching for either reassurance or a facetious smirk.
"You sure?" he asked again.
"We're only young once, right?" she replied, a coy smile at her lips now.
"She said to the thirty-year-old man,"
"You're not old. We'll go on three, okay?"
He stared down into the water, tantalizingly cool from the looks of it. He was suddenly filled with a rush of excitement, adrenaline searing through him as he was suddenly looking forward to what they were about to do.
"Okay,"
"One... two... three --" Austin leapt in before the last number could leave her. In an instant he was plunged into immediate cold, a shock to his system and sobering him up almost instantly.
He broke through the surface, snuffling water out of his nose and pushing his sopping hair back. However, he was perplexed when he rubbed the water from his eyes and saw Jade still standing on the edge of the pool, bone dry. He glared at her as she began to laugh.
"Okay, well what was the point in that?" he asked begrudgingly.
"I'm sorry," she giggled, though not seeming all that apologetic as she watched him tread water. He looked like a wet seal, pouting up at her with his big eyes, "I just... I had to. That was too fun to watch,"
"Jesus," he shook his head, muttering under his breath. He felt a little silly, but he couldn't complain that much either. After all, the view of her from the pool wasn't too bad, "Well, since I'm already here, would you like to join me or do I have to get out and throw you in myself?" he asked.
Jade giggled some more, stepping back shyly, and her hands came to pull up the hem of her sweater. His gaze was fixed to her, almost in disbelief as she shed off her clothes, revealing her beautiful skin and the contours of her body beneath, leaving her just in her bra and underwear. She maintained a calm exterior, though if anybody had asked, Jade was shaking like a leaf on the inside.
She took a running start before she cannonballed in, sending more water splashing over him though Austin didn't have a care in the world. She emerged a moment later, the shock of the water sobering her too just a little, though the excitement buzzing through her was too much for her bare. Nevertheless, she swam over to meet him.
"Hi,"
"Hi,"
"I'm sorry I tricked you," she muttered with a small laugh.
Austin hummed, amused with her wet hair, the droplets of water twinkling in her eyelashes. He could feel himself begin to pulse as his eyes traced every inch of her, from the freckles on her nose to the lacy green material hugging her hips.
"Mmm. You should be," he moved towards her teasingly slow, his voice dropping to that lower octave that had her head spinning, "But I could think of a few ways you could make it up to me,"
She couldn't fight the way his words made her chest flutter, how warm and inviting he was in spite of the water. Not to mention the idea of fucking in a pool excited her.
"Hm. So can I,"
It was had been six long months since she was before him like this, so vulnerable and tempting. She could pick out the contours of his broad chest through his shirt, she was anxious to pop those slippery buttons away and press herself against him. All either of them could do was float there, eating up the tension simmering, eyes locked together. It felt like an eternity almost when Austin began to move forward, his eyes slipping shut as he went to kiss her.
Jade however was still feeling a little playful.
Just as their lips were about to touch, she submerged herself under the water, swimming back so she was a few feet away. Austin's eyes opened as he was met with nothing, perplexed and still entertained to find her at the edge of the pool, an innocent gleam twinkling in her eye.
"What're you doing?" his voice was deep, curious, egging her on to play some more.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she shrugged back. After all, it was always more fun to make them work for it.
"Sure," he swam towards her, coming to the more shallow part of the pool so he could stand up, now towering over her, "Is this fun for you?"
She resisted the urge to laugh, almost mocking him as she pouted, "I seriously -- I don't know what you mean. I'm right here," she placed her hands on his chest, fingers toying wit his buttons to tease him further.
"Okay," he reached for her again, however she pushed off from the pool floor and tried to swim away again. She wasn't fast enough this time as he grabbed her by her hips and held her fast against him. She yelped delightedly as his fingers dug into her skin and he came down to whisper against her ear, "Behave yourself, or I might make you scream for real..."
With her last drop of courage hanging by a thread, Jade licked a long stripe up the side of his neck, "Try me,"
It was then the proverbial damn broke loose. Lips met teeth and tongue, hands found home wherever they were able to. The desire within the both of them was equally matched, neither one could bare to let go for a second.
Jade's fingers were plucking away the buttons down his shirt, pushing the material off and losing it somewhere in the water without care. His long fingers were at her hips, sliding down to grasp her butt as Austin took the opportunity to place sloppy kisses from the corner of her mouth, to her cheek, to her jaw, cascading all the way down to her neck, refamiliarizing himself with every crevice and freckle on her body.
She was already in bliss, his touches, his kisses were more certain, confident, reigniting the fire in her belly. She was at a loss for words when he started sucking at her collar bone, teeth biting down gently across her skin and she wrapped her legs around his waist, needing him to be closer than he already was.
The next thing she knew Austin had her sitting on the ledge, her legs spread so he stood between them. His mouth never left her chest and his hands slipped around her back to snap off her bra.
"Fuck..." he took a moment to breathe, to savour the moment, so purely captivated by how pretty she was, blissed out already and her radiant eyes were blown with lust.
Jade couldn't help the blush in her cheeks, her mind flickering for some semblance of sanity as she too savoured being here with him, so vulnerable like this but trusting him openly, "Take a picture, why don't you?" she teased.
His chuckle was dark as his hand toyed with her nipple, "Don't tempt me," and then his lips wrapped around the other, his deft tongue rolling the small bud around and around. Jade sighed, her chest arched forward and her eyes slipped shut. One hand was locked behind her, keeping her propped up while her other hand carded. through his wet hair, all she could feel was Austin overwhelming her like nothing else.
Meanwhile, his free hand came down to her hip, pulling away at her lace panties fervidly. He stepped back as Jade took the lead and slipped them off, now fully naked and beautiful before him. His cock was already twitching, the mere sight of her had him grasping hastily at threads of self control. She hadn't even touched him yet, not in the way he needed, anyhow.
She bit down on her lip, "Super random but... no one can see us, right?" she pointed to the wall of shrubbery to her right, "Like, neighbours or..."
"It's just us," he assured her, coming back to step between her legs, "Just you and me,"
She liked the sound of that, tilting her head up, "Just you and me," she nodded, "And maybe God,"
Austin always admired her sense of humour, no matter what circumstances they found themselves in. They didn't have to take themselves too seriously, and that took immense pressure off of his shoulders.
"I don't think God minds giving us a moment," with a lustful smirk hanging off his sassy retort, he slipped further down into the pool so he could slide his tongue up her slit. He was slow, calculative, ensuring he could taste every part of her first as he gradually sped up.
The arm keeping Jade propped up relented, sliding across the terra cotta tile until she was laying flat on her back. She could feel his fingers slip within her now, spreading her for him so he could find all of the sensitive spots, and she squirmed for him like a worm on the end of a fishing hook. He ate her like a man starved, she was a delightful treat for him as she withered and moaned, rutting her hips against his tongue.
"Austin -- fuck," she whimpered softly, whining and writhing as her only point of leverage was her hand scratching over his scalp, just egging him on more and more. His tongue slipped into her, picking up her arousal to spread over her neglected clit, and his licking turned to harsh sucking, "Fuck!"
Austin opened his eyes, seeing her now laid out before the heavens and stars. He couldn't resist pulling himself out of the water, still rubbing her clit at a steady pace as he crawled over her. He winced as some pebbles and flecks of sand dug into his knees, but right now he couldn't give a shit.
The cold water dripping over her was a shock, only adding fuel to the fire though as his tongue ran over her breast, sucking and marking before moving to her neck. His fingers were rocketing her to the limit, she was a mess of moans and gasps and watching her come apart for him was a pure fucking delight.
Jade couldn't form any words, pleasure skyrocketed up her spine and down her toes, the warmth in her stomach enveloping the rest of her body like an earthquake. His lips were on hers before she could comprehend, feeling her shake beneath him, further driving his own lust for her as he took her to her high.
She gasped as though air had been stolen from her, her legs shook, her wet hair tangled beneath her head as pleasure coursed through her body. Austin kissed her neck gently, his fingers ceasing their pleasurable torture, easing her back down to Earth.
Austin was at a loss, torn between wanting to fuck her himself or make her do that again. Watching her come apart, knowing he made her lose control so fervidly, it was addictive.
"Holy shit," she finally breathed.
Austin couldn't help but laugh, stroking his thumb gently over her cheek, "Are you okay?"
She nodded, pliant and breathless, though her own pleasure couldn't deter her from slipping her hand down to his pants and undoing the zipper, "You're overdressed again," she spoke softly despite her hazy smirk.
His eyes narrowed at her, amusement laced within, "My apologies," he spoke lowly, rolling off of her so he could slip his pants off. Jade rolled over onto her stomach and stretched out across the tile, almost cat-like in her movements. She watched him undress, pealing off his wet boxers and freeing himself and she blushed when she met his gaze.
Adorable, he thought, "Do I say it?"
"What?" she queried.
"Take a picture," he grinned mockingly.
Jade rolled her eyes, "Nope," she shook her head like a brat, "You're taking too long, though,"
Austin moved over her, tasting the hint of chlorine and sweat on her back as he ghosting his lips across her skin. His body was warm against her back, soft lips ghosting over her neck and his erection pressed into her butt. She yelped when he suddenly brought his hand down on one of her cheeks.
"Listen, if you want to act like a brat, then I'll treat you like one," he rubbed the sting out afterwards.
She was a little taken aback at first, though Jade couldn't deny she was intrigued by this side of him. She glanced at him over her shoulder, "Well, when you put it like that, I should do it more," she teased.
His instinctive rebuttal was a soft bite into her shoulder, gripping her hips firmly and slipping into her from behind, "Try me," he whispered in her ear.
Austin was a tentative little at first, rocking back and forth within her and building up his rhythm. She was tight and silky around him and he wanted to savour this as much as he could. They groaned out together, pleasure shooting between them, slick skin sliding against slick skin and cold tile. Their body heat was contrasted greatly by the soft breeze sending prickly chills over them.
"Fuck..." he grunted, adjusting his hands on her hips and sliding into her over and over again, his motion quick and sharp. Jade couldn't keep herself propped up, her nails scratched against the terracotta, the pressure that had fizzled out moments ago was building up within her gut again and it was coming fast.
The air around them filled with the sound of sex, the thoughts of neighbours about didn't occur to either of them as heavy pants and sweeter groans filled their ears. His cock slid in and out of her swiftly, leaving them both so lost in pleasure the rest of the world fell away. All Jade could do was take it, the pleasure overwhelming and making her head spin.
"Come with me, Jade," he grunted in her ear. He knew how close she was, hearing her whimper and gasp out -- whine after whine, and his hand slipped under her to find and play with her clit. He moved his fingers faster and faster, feeling her clench tightly around him, he only had moments to comprehend as he pushed deeper and deeper, and he felt her come around him. Her high was chased by his, his body shaking and his limbs becoming gelatinous as he thrusts became sloppy.
Jade collapsed beneath him; she felt like rubber and her body felt heavy. Tired, oversensitive, but Austin laid on top of her, still buried deep within and she felt so deliciously claimed. The stubble over his chin scratched pleasantly over her skin as he pressed kisses to her back, and their fingers were interlocked together on the tile as neither could find the energy to move.

Jonathan Frid in Abingdon
One rarely gets to meet one’s teenage idol, much less be instrumental in getting them work. For me, it was Jonathan Frid, the reluctant vampire Barnabas Collins of Dark Shadows. Like so many others, I was drawn to his passionate delivery of Barnabas’ lines and the emotions from love to fury to despair he could put into those deep brown eyes.
Tumblr media
I first met him in 1986 at a Dark Shadows Festival, quaking in my boots at the autograph line. Later, I started attending Jonathan’s Readers’ Theater in the public libraries in New York City. I went so often, he started noticing me, and Mary O’Leary, his manager and co-producer, asked if I wanted to help send out flyers to locations that might want to book his show.
While in Mary’s apartment stuffing envelopes, I got an idea. I had come from a small town in Virginia, a place where no one I would have ever wanted to see would come for a public appearance. An occasional country singer or third-rate TV actor might show up, but that was it. I thought it would be amazing if Jonathan Frid actually appeared there.
The little town of Abingdon wasn’t without its merits. It was the county seat of Washington County (whee!) and also housed the State Theater of Virginia, the Barter Theatre, founded during the Great Depression to hire out-of-work actors. So, my idea was simple – get Jonathan Frid to appear in Abingdon. Not only would my impossible dream come true, but I would get a chance to see my mother. So, I took an envelope and handwrote, “Barter Theatre, Main St., Abingdon, VA 24210” and hoped for the best.
Time went on and eventually I heard that Jonathan had been booked for his Shakespearean show, “Jonathan Frid’s Shakespearean Odyssey,” in my little town. I could barely believe it! My little plan had worked. I flew down and upon arrival, bought a ticket and sent a plant to his room to enjoy for his weeklong stay.
Jonathan was booked not in the main theater, but a smaller theater-in-the-round where experimental and children’s plays were often done. It was a nice venue, very intimate, which was great. However, after taking my seat, I realized there was only one other person in the audience. How embarrassing – for me and for Jonathan! I at least expected the neighbor I had watched DS with back in the day to show up, though come to think of it, she had a pretty good excuse – she’d just had a baby. But Jonathan, a real professional, did his show the same as he would have if he had had a packed house.
I waited for him after the show, of course, and asked the other attendee if she’d like to join me. I have to admit, I didn’t even think about how he might be feeling at that moment. I was just excited to see him and welcome him to my town. I didn’t even wonder if he would be surprised to see me. Even though I had sent a gift to his room, he had no way of knowing I came from Abingdon. In any case, the meeting was wonderful. We talked to him for a while, and I got a picture of him in front of the theater. He was very gracious and didn’t seem at all put out at the small audience. A lovely man indeed.
I did two more things before leaving Abingdon. I hunted down the Barter Theatre producing director to thank him for the booking, and I got a copy of Jonathan’s review from the local paper. Unfortunately, the review was not very good.  I was mad at my little town and sorry that Jonathan had to put up with this, when he’d gotten such good reviews elsewhere. Still, I gave a copy to Mary O’Leary when I was back in New York, explaining sheepishly that it was a bad review. She told me not to worry, that Jonathan read all his reviews, good and bad, which placated me some. But I can’t say I was upset when I returned to Abingdon some years later and found that the paper had closed.
The next time I saw Jonathan was when I was helping to set up for his show at a Dark Shadows Festival. He walked in, saying, “Is Jane here?” My head popped up.  Jonathan Frid knows my name! My heart pounded in my chest. What could he want? I was still embarrassed at the small audience and bad review he had gotten and hoped that he wasn’t upset. But I need not have worried. He was as kind and gracious as always. He thanked me for the plant I had given him, then proceeded to tell me how much he liked my little town and had enjoyed his stay there. It was much later that I thought, no matter what had happened in Abingdon, I had gotten a booking for Jonathan Frid. That, and his perfect response, has kept me smiling for a long time.

ENSTARS X MERC STORIA: CHAPTER 1 Pt 2: IN THE UNKNOWN FOREST
Tumblr media
Madara: (Those are reeeally forceful words. And, it doesn’t look like they’re lying, huh?)
… … ‘Healing techniques’, ‘monsters’. There are so many things to be concerned about here… …
Got it. We’ll put our trust in you now.
Tumblr media
Tatsumi: That’s right. It is regrettable, but we know far too little about the biology of those creatures you call ‘monsters’.
We’ll leave this to you. However, if there’s anything that we can do, please tell us.
Yuu: Thank you so much!
Spitzes: GRRRRR!
Rustoa: Yuu-kun!
Tumblr media
Yuu: Yes! Alright… …
Deliverance!
Spitzes: Grrr… …?
Rustoa: It looks like everything has worked out well!
Tumblr media
Yuu: Yes!
Madara: (... … Those mysterious creatures have all calmed down. What in the world is this ‘Healing technique’?)
< A few minutes later. >
Tumblr media
Tatsumi: … … So, what you’re saying is that the power Yuu-san used earlier is called a Healing technique. It is an ability that can Heal the creatures that you call ‘monsters’, thus calming them down.
Yuu: Yes. We’re here at the request of the sponsor of an event that will be held in ten days time.
This forest is adjacent to the event site, you see. That’s why we’re here to Heal the monsters, as a precaution.
Tumblr media
Merc: —And that’s how we happened to stumble across you guys!
Mayoi: An event, you say?
Rustoa: Yes, it’s gonna be a festival of song and drama!
Tumblr media
Rustoa: It’s called the ‘Stage On Fiesta’, a really grand event where many idols and theatre companies will gather!
Aira: Oh! Will there be idols coming TOO…!? What kind of groups will they be? I’m pretty knowledgeable about that, you know~!
Tumblr media
Rustoa: Er. Errrrm… …
Tatsumi: I understand how you feel, but we are straying from the point.
Aira: AH! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to… …
Tatsumi: Well, in any case… … It’s all thanks to that, that our lives have been saved, haven't they? This too, must be God’s guidance.
Tumblr media
Aira: (Wow, Tattsun-senpai’s adaptability stat is way too high, isn’t it? He’s conversing with them so naturally now… …
Unlike me… When I saw Merc-san, I actually yelled out loud, “The water is talking!” (2))
Tumblr media
Madara: WOOOW! I’ve witnessed something reeeally amazing! All those monsters were in such an excited state, but they went back to normal as soon as you used that Healing technique!
I’m reeeally interested to learn more about how these Healing techniques work and to be able to use them myself! I’d reeeally like it if you could teach me more!
Yuu: Too close, so close… …! This person is coming onto me really strongly!
Tumblr media
Madara: Haha~! That’s because I’ve never met a person with an ability like yours before. It’s been such a long time since my curiosity’s been piqued to such an extent!
Yuu: I’m glad that you’re so interested, but, errr… you are—?
Madara: I’m Mikejima Madara, but do feel free to call me Mama!
Tumblr media
Yuu: ❓Errr, are you a… … Mama?
Madara: Umu… I wanna become everybody’s Mama, you see!
Yuu: I understand now. Since that is what Madara-san wants to be called by—
In that case—Mama-san!
Tumblr media
Merc: Mama-san, it’s sooo very nice to meet you!
Madara: I’ve had this thought before but—when I’m called like that so obediently, it kinda bothers me too!
Tatsumi: Let us take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as well, shall we? I am Kazehaya Tatsumi, and standing beside me is—
Tumblr media
Mayoi: —I am Ayase Mayoi.
Aira: Shiratori Aira! Nice to meet you~!
Hiiro: I’m Hiiro. Amagi Hiiro!
Yuu: It’s nice to meet all of you.
Tumblr media
Hiiro: Umu! Since we have had the good fortune to meet each other here, I really hope that we can all be friends!
Merc: Wai~! Of course, we will!
Rustoa: Yes, this is a once-in-a-lifetime encounter after all! It looks like we’re all performers attending the same event, so I’d want for us to get along well, anyway!
Tumblr media
Tatsumi: Is there an event?
Rustoa: Oh? Was I mistaken? I honestly thought the clothes you guys are wearing were the stage clothes you were going to perform in, though!
Aira: Ah, about this—We were dressed like this without us knowing how it happened… …
Tumblr media
Aira: There’s no doubt that these are our outfits, but we don’t know why or how we happened to be wearing them at all~.
Merc / Yuu: … …?
Tatsumi: We would definitely need information on that too. Excuse me, but could you please answer some questions of ours for us to learn about our situation? In truth, we found ourselves in this place without knowing how we came to be here… …
Tumblr media
Yuu: EHH! Isn’t that an insanely bad situation for you guys? Please, do not restrain yourselves on our account; you may ask us anything about what you wish to know.
Aira: Uwah~ You’re such a great help! Ah, we seem to be peers who are close in age, so it’s fine if you totally skip the use of formal language with us!
Yuu: Alright, if you insist.
Tumblr media
Mayoi: … … …
(Ahh~, he has a very adorable face too! He and Aira-san are looking more and more like a set together—)
Tatsumi: HAA—! BEGONE!
Mayoi: EEEEEKK!
Tumblr media
Tatsumi: Ahh~, please forgive me. I had felt an unsettling presence just now… …
Mayoi: I’m sooo sorry for being so faithful to my desiresss!
Yuu: (It looks like you guys are coping pretty well… …)
Tumblr media
Tatsumi: I’m the one who derailed the conversation, so let me be the one to bring it back on course.
First, let me share with you our situation here. The place we’re from is called Ensemble Square, or ES for short.
Mayoi: Yes. And there, we were suddenly enveloped in a bright light… … and then thrown into this place that looks like a forest… …
Tumblr media
Mayoi: Uh… This place… Where exactly are we?
Rustoa: Mehterhaane.
Aira: Huh?
Tumblr media
Rustoa: If you’re asking about the country we’re located in though, we’re in the one called Kingdom. Have you heard of it? Aira: KI—KINGDOM~!?

From a 6-year old child artist to Swiggy Uncle!
This Vadi Bro has come a long way !!
03 May, 2023 I Richa Devesar I FilmyPeople
Tumblr media
If you have passion for something and keep on working towards that, you are surely going to get it, one day! Now its up to you whether you  call it Destiny or your Dedication…Swiggy Uncle has proved it both ways! How? Lets rewind his journey as an actor and get to know how he did it all?
Naresh Gosain, a mechanical Engineer by profession was passionate about acting since childhood. He started acting on stage when he was just six years old. It took him 50 years to reach where he is today. Hours, days, months and years’ of work could not give him what a 20 Sec Silent TVC did. It was not just a matter of chance that even after doing dozens of serials, hundreds of Street plays, and so many appearances in Big Budget Bollywood movies, he could not get the appreciation he had been looking for but he feels ‘God has been kind to have given me all this at this age because if he had given all this earlier, who knows I might have got vanished from the scene by now.’ Now, that is what we call positive attitude!
Before getting to know the Gulab Jamun Waale Uncle’s journey (as he’s fondly known), let me share few things which I remember of him as a child. In those days, he was acting in Doordarshan Serials Dil Dariya, Doosra Kewal and Phir Wohi Talaash. We felt really proud of the fact that my Maasi’s son is coming on Television. Unlike today, those were the Doordarshan days when everyone was watching the same thing at the same time, unlike today when the audience is segregated.
Tumblr media
We are basically a very filmy family and I give all the credit to my Daddy and Mummy for this. Music, movies all this has been part of our lives since the time, I was not even born. So when Babbu Bhaiya (as we call him) got in to acting , we would look forward to hear all Filmy Stories from him. Infact, I got to know about Shahid Kapoor’s existence as a 10 year old when bhaiya was working in the serial  Phir Wohi Talaash (way back in 1990) with actress Neelima Azeem who had this very happy-go-lucky , jovial type youthful, college going girl’s character. He told us that she is a 28 year old woman and has a 10 year old son which was unbelievable.  We just could not believe that! And yes I do remember his dialogue in one of the episodes which was  ‘Kaad diya…..unko kaad diya’ (they have been thrown out).
And now…everyday we are seeing him in new TVCs be it Bisleri, Dr. Fixit, Netmeds, Goldie Masaale and so on. Success did come to him but after giving 50 dedicated years of his life. Does he have grudges or he is smiling the way he smiles while eating Gulab Jamun in Swiggy TVC? Before we ask him about his journey, how about having a look at some of his best TVCs!
Lets rewind and talk to him from where it all  started!
When did you first realize that you wanted to act?
It was not that I realized or something. Initially, it just happened, as my father was a theatre actor and a writer too, I would often accompany him during his rehearsals and one fine day he asked me to act..and with that began my acting journey. I acted in a lot of plays as a child artist. And this I’m talking about 1968 when I was hardly six years old and now that I’m talking of my childhood days, I can recall that I got my first award in 1972 in a theatre festival in Delhi which was quite motivating for me in that young age, although I didn’t understand the seriousness of acting that time.
In 70s and 80s, Doordarshan was the only channel we had and coming on Television was not a small thing. What memories do you have of your initial days?
In those days, actors got much more popularity because Doordarshan had the monopoly. If I talk about myself, I was working regularly with DD for various types of shows and family and friends used to appreciate that because it was a big thing back then. It reminds me of an incident, Doordarshan would telecast one Special New Year Show every year which used to have audience just the way we have now in reality shows. So whenever I got a chance to be there in that new year show, as an audience my friends would get very excited..Arrey tujhe dekha tha! And afterwards when I started acting in serials, though in small roles, I always got a positive response from family and friends.
And how and when did acting in Doordarshan happen?
Doordarshan was the only Channel we had back in 70s and 80s and I was lucky enough to have bagged my first Telefilm in the year 1981. In those days, it wasn’t easy to get a break but I got a chance to show my talent when Doordarshan started Morning Transmission somewhere in mid 80s and I did, mostly comedy serials like Hamaare manager, Popat lal Jasoos, Jeena Yahaan Marna Yahaan and few more. Then  I happen to meet Director Lekh Tandon who after directing some very big movies like Agar Tum Na Hote, Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaae, Professor, Aamrapali, Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan and so many more, came to Delhi to make serials for  Doordarshan.  I met him during that time only when he was directing Dil Dariya and Doosra Kewal for Doordarshan.
Tumblr media
If I remember it correctly Dil Dariya was Shah Rukh Khan’s debut serial although the one that got aired on TV was Fauji, Right? How was the experience? Any incident of those days you can recall?
Absolutely right! Although I got to play a small role in that serial but as I was involved in production too, I was there on the sets everyday.  And you just asked about any incident. So I have an interesting thing to tell…I remember we were shooting for Doosra Kewal. We had to shoot a song and were looking for a particular location so I asked Lekh Tandon ji to shoot the same at my terrace. As soon as we finished the shoot, Shah Rukh said that his serial Circus is going to be telecast just now and he wanted to see it. We all came downstairs and he watched that episode of Circus with my whole family and that too sitting on the floor. He was already a big TV star by then and so humble was he…I offered him chair…but he said ‘No..I am Okey here.’ And we were all very friendly with each other be it Shah Rukh or other actors  like Arun Baliji, Vinita Malikji and Alka Amin (who was seen in Kedarnath as Sushant Singh Rajput’s mother) and I also remember that Arun Bali ji and Vinita Malik ji were the highest paid actors of this serial.
Tumblr media
So, the shooting of all these serials was being done in Delhi only and did you continue with theatre also while doing DD serials?
While I was working in DD serials, I was also doing Public Awareness Campaigns because in those days, we used to have lots of such Govt campaigns running on Doordarshan. I continued doing theatre too but this time it was Ramleela and starting from year 1993, I continued playing Kumbhkaran for over 25 years at the Ramleela of Model Town 2, New Delhi. Then in the year 2000, I started doing Street Plays for private as well as Govt Sector and these kept me busy for years.
When did you first come to Mumbai for an acting assignment? What was that about? And which directors you worked with, initially?
I went to Mumbai for the first time in 1989. It was for the shooting of a TV serial called Sadbhaavna again for Doordarshan which was directed by Raj Tilakji who had already directed films like Mukti starring Shashi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar and Vidya Sinha and 36 Ghante starring Raj Kumar, Sunil Dutt and Mala Sinha and many more. After doing Sadbhavna,  I started coming to Mumbai frequently. Although it was one scene or two and the first movie I did was Manorama Six Feet Under.  Then I got a chance to work with Subhash Ghai ji in Kanchi.
youtube
Rajat Kapoor was another director, I got a chance to work with in the movie Aankhon Dekhi.  Then Dibaakar Banerjee..with whom I worked in Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, then Vicky Donor happened with Shoojit Sarkar. Infact, I was in all 3 projects of Mirzapur Director Gurmmeet Singh - What The Fish, (in which I had a good role but unfortunately the film didn’t do well at the box office)Warning and Sharaafat Gai Tel Lene and years later I got a chance to work with him in Mirzapur too.  Roles were small but good thing was that I was getting work.
What made you decide to permanently move to Mumbai? Did you get family support?
When I was doing serials Chidiya Ghar and Laapata Ganj that time, I seriously thought of moving to Mumbai. It was around 2012 that I started getting regular work…all the films that I just mentioned. But yes, permanently I decided to shift my base here was after Swiggy TVC happened, that has been the biggest turning point in my career. And yes, when I decided to move to Mumbai permanently, my family did support me. And moreover,  I could afford to be away from home and give it a shot as my kids were grown up and busy in their own lives and I had my mother and wife Meenu’s full support to go ahead with my decision of giving it a shot.
How did you get Swiggy TVC? Did you have any idea that it would be the biggest turning point of your career? Any big complements you received from your industry friends?
I still remember I was in Delhi doing my awareness campaigns and in between that, I got a call for audition of this Swiggy Ad. I recorded my audition video there only on my mobile and sent it. Although I wanted to get selected but wasn’t sure. But I was selected and there I was shooting for that Ad which changed my life and there has been no looking back since then.
I got lot of popularity because of the Swiggy campaign. The thing is that nowadays the audience is divided..in a way that some people watch only movies, some…crime thrillers, some like to watch family shows, some…news but Ad is one thing which everyone watches and it comes on every platform and this Swiggy TVC came during IPL season and that’s the reason it got even more visibility. The Ad campaign really helped Swiggy and their sales increased by 45%.
My friends Vinay Pathak and Saurabh Shukla gave me complements. They said the way you hold your expressions and smile, is amazing. Kya kamaal ki ad ki hai tuney. I have been doing like this for so many years now but the only thing is that when God’s blessings come, things just change and the same thing happened with me.
How easy was it shifting to TVCs? How do you look at the whole thing?
Doing TVCs was not a planned move, first of all. It just happened. The thing is that when you are doing theatre, reaction is instant. One story is told in 2 hours in a film, in a series it takes 10-12 episodes but when it comes to an ad, you have to tell the story in just 15-20 secs which is not an easy thing. I got to learn so much while doing TVCs. On other hand all my experience came in handy when I started doing ads. I have not had any formal training in Acting, but I have hands-on experience of 55 years. Everyday, I am doing something new which is challenging and satisfying at the same time.
You have worked in some Short Films also, how was that experience?
So far working in short films has been one of the best experiences and I enjoyed working in The Honeymooners and Shagun. I am emotionally attached to The Honeymooners, actually. There is whole variety of roles that I am doing now and it is very surprising that at this age I’m doing things that I never thought, I would ever do, especially after crossing 60. Bojh was another short film that I did. Also I did few bigger Ads which had a storyline especially the ones done for Valentine’s Day and Father’s Day.
youtube
You have worked in some Web Series also. Tell us about that experience? And your upcoming projects also?
Yes I have done few Web Series like Mirzapur, Inside Edge, Illegal and few more to come. Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper is the next Web Series I’m waiting for then there’s one more Jhaansi ka Rajkumar. Plus TVCs are going on. One with Ranbir has just started coming and Vadilal campaign also started recently and after Swiggy Uncle they’ve shown me as Vadi Bro…it has that youthful touch with lots of colours. I’m loving every bit of it.
Your experience of working with actors like Akshay Kumar, Virat Kohli , Anushka, Alia and Ranbir Kapoor?
The experience has been great. They’ve all been very nice. Ranbir Kapoor is one humble actor I have worked with. I had a great time shooting with Virat and Anushka too. One of the ads we did together was about eating  and they brought Rajma Chaawal from their home. Since he is also from Delhi I told him it has this typical DIlli-wala taste and we ll enjoyed shooting as well as eating.

Do you have any grudges that all this success and fame came your way very late or you are enjoying it?
I am grateful to God. I feel that if I had got success some 20-30 years ago, I might not have been in the industry today. God has really been kind and I have no grudges at all.
How does it feel living your childhood dream?
Although I have been acting for so many years now and I have always given my 100 % whether it was  serials or movies or street plays but the kind of stuff I got to do after my Swiggy TVC is something I am really enjoying. I never imagined that I would get such amazing roles to play and trust me God has really been kind and there’s much more to come. Its all God’s grace. I have been working consistently for last 50 years but got showered with all the name and fame now and its all God’s blessing.
I would personally recommend you all to watch these two Festival Spl TVCs and you will have an idea how good Swiggy Uncle is with his facial expressions.

Oliver Stone talks ‘JFK’ and his trio of Dallas films that capture the city
In the space of three years, Oliver Stone made three films in Dallas, an unusual number for any director but especially one not from Texas. “I know, I’m from New York!” Stone said with a laugh, when I connected with him over Zoom.
The films are quite different, but each captures a facet of the city. The late-night claustrophobia of Talk Radio (1988) is a maze of reflective glass with the neon skyline in the window. Born on the Fourth of July (1989) uses the sun-dappled streets of Oak Cliff to tell a very American story of idealism curdling to betrayal. And of course there is JFK (1991), Stone’s feverish spin on that fateful day in 1963 and New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison’s doomed crusade to make sense of it.
Stone is coming to Texas Theatre to screen and discuss those movies — in addition to his warped serial-killers-in-love classic, Natural Born Killers, celebrating its 30th anniversary — for a mini-festival called “4 Days in Dallas With Oliver Stone” running Oct. 3-6. He’ll be talking with Dallas-based journalist Matt Zoller Seitz, Vulture critic and one of the preeminent Stone experts, having written a collection of conversations and essays about the director called The Oliver Stone Experience.
It’s hard to imagine better movie programming than watching JFK with Oliver Stone in the theater where Lee Harvey Oswald was caught. I spoke with the director about filming in Dallas, the lone-gunman theory and what Jerry Jones gave him.
Let’s start with your first Dallas film, Talk Radio. How did it wind up being shot here?
We were trying to make Born on the Fourth of July, but it was a big cookie to bite. It was too expensive, it was about a paraplegic and the studios considered it a downer. Tom Cruise and I came together to make that happen, but Tom was doing Rain Man, and we had to wait. [Producer] Ed Pressman saw this play in New York with Eric Bogosian called Talk Radio. The play was powerful. I said, maybe we should take a couple of months, and I’ll shoot it while we’re waiting for Tom.
It essentially gave you a chance to get to know Dallas.
That’s right. Because we had a limited amount of money for Born on the Fourth of July, which was a very big production, and Texas was very attractive. It’s a right-to-work state, and the Texas Film Commission came after us aggressively. Come to Dallas, see our beautiful new studio out in Las Colinas. And Dallas had so many talented extras.
Let’s start with your first Dallas film, Talk Radio. How did it wind up being shot here?
[Real-life Vietnam vet and film protagonist] Ron Kovic grew up in Massapequa, Long Island, but Long Island was being developed, so it didn’t have the kind of emptiness, the open-space skies I found in Dallas. There was a neighborhood that really turned out well, [the Elmwood section of] Oak Cliff. They gave us a whole street.
Texas was good to us. I hated the hospital we shot in, though. We moved into an abandoned hospital, and that was probably the hardest two weeks I’ve ever shot. Those scenes based on the Veterans Hospital in the Bronx are very depressing, but it was necessary, because that’s the truth, of course.
You were reading Jim Garrison’s book On the Trail of the Assassins while you were shooting Born on the Fourth of July. So was it filming in Dallas that sparked the fascination that led to JFK?
I never really made that connection, but I’m sure someone took me to see Dealey Plaza for the first time. When you see it, you realize what a jewel box it is. How small. You don’t realize that from pictures. It’s a perfect ambush site.
Dallas spent decades in denial about the Kennedy assassination. The Sixth Floor Museum didn’t open until 1989, shortly before you shot the film. And the movie JFK blows the doors off history, creating that feeling that something just isn’t right. How hard was it to get permission to shoot in Dealey Plaza?
There was a big fight. A lot of politicking behind the scenes. And Dealey Plaza was our first day of shooting. Can you imagine? With all those cars and the bang-bang echoing through the city. They closed off Stemmons Freeway and gave us the whole square. It turned into quite a circus.
That movie was a nightmare in terms of work. I had to be totally focused and ignore distractions. The Washington Post ripped off a first draft of the script, and we were already on the [sixth] draft, and they came out with a Sunday piece months before the movie opened, ripping us to shreds. I didn’t realize the opposition to the film until I got into it, which is somewhat like what happened to [New Orleans DA and the film’s protagonist Jim] Garrison.
I haven’t gone down the rabbit hole on JFK’s assassination, but friends who have will tell me: The conspiracies are fun, but at the end of the day, it’s just a lone gunman. They often cite Vincent Bugliosi’s book. What are your thoughts on Reclaiming History?
It’s ridiculous. It’s like citing Gerald Posner’s book [Case Closed]. The best refutation is from Jim DiEugenio, who went into Bugliosi’s book detail by detail [Reclaiming Parkland]. It’s sad that people don’t bother to read the rebuttals.
I went back to all this material in 2021 with the documentary JFK Revisited. It’s very clear that Oswald was known to the CIA. I don’t want to get into all the arguments here, but that documentary is worth seeing.
For a non-Dallas filmmaker, you’ve tackled some very essential Dallas stories. You came back to make the football film Any Given Sunday.
We were having a huge fight with the NFL. We couldn’t get stadiums, and we couldn’t get the jerseys or uniforms. We had to create our own parallel world. Thank God, Jerry Jones was a real gentleman, and he said, you’re welcome to use my stadium. Or maybe he said the Dallas Cowboys stadium.
No, it’s his. [Laughter.] So when you come to town, will you go to Dealey Plaza?
Oh, well, sure.

Reasons to live in Lingfield: The good, the great and the awesome
We are more than consumers, we are community Lingfield and Dormansland achieved Fairtrade status back in 2005!
We as a community have been proud to be doing our bit to raise awareness of Fairtrade and the issues of better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
This year Fairtrade are celebrating 25 years of the Fairtrade mark with events being held worldwide!
One of Surrey’s prettiest Village
This year and for many moons before we have been voted one of the prettiest villages in beautiful surrey, by Surrey Life.
Lingfield is a pretty equestrian village combining countryside, horse racing, a plethora of Tudor architecture and its very own ‘Village Cage’…. Children beware….. Disorderly adults beware too!!
Lingfield truly is a unique beautiful place to live and visit.
A hop, skip and a jump away from London
Central London can be reached in just 50 minutes. Less time than you may have to wait for your takeaway on a Friday!
London being so accessible in a major reason why people choose to live in Lingfield, they can enjoy the countryside or the city at the drop of a hat.
You win some, you lose some
With Lingfield’s all-weather racecourse you’re definitely onto a winner rain or shine!
Whether you’re dressed to the nines or enjoying a day out with the kids everyone will have a great time. Hosting family days, live music, and race days a trip to the races is a must!
Take a walk on the wild side
Set within 26 acres the British Wildlife Centre is home to the finest collection of native wildlife in Britain.
An amazing experience for the young and old alike to be captivated, explore and learn about the conservation of some of our endangered species, including red squirrels, scottish wildcats and polecats. The centre offers talks, photography days and educational tours.
Great friends, Great food, Great Times
Whether it is fine dining, gastro pubs or just a good old local’s pub Lingfield is packed with little gems! Personal favourites being Tammy’s Thai with its authentic Thai food and friendly atmosphere.
The Plough pub with adjoining restaurant is very popular for festivals, fund raising and has a great atmosphere …. Last, but far from least, The Red Barn with its Jazz Sundays, Fizz Fridays and Weekend breakfast club.
It’s Showtime… Ta Dah!!
Lingfield offers a diverse and somewhat eclectic mix of entertainment for all ages.

Whatever it is that gets your heart pounding and pulse running you’ll be sure to find a club full of likeminded people here. We are big on keeping active and boast one of the oldest cricket clubs in the Country dating back to 1750!!
There are clubs for cricket, football, running, rambling and swimming all on your doorstep. However if you’re looking for something a little more luxurious there is of course both Lingfield Park resort and Chartham Park Golf and Country Club where you can enjoy being active, followed by a nice meal or tipple at the bar!
Keep calm, Keep walking
If your boots were made for walking and that’s just what you’re going to do… Greathead Manor in Dormansland is a terrific place to start! A distinctive Manor home completed in 1868 set in grounds of five acres and surrounded by acre upon acre of woodland, pastures and the odd fishing lake here and there.
This really is a place where you can relax the mind and enjoy cycling, fishing, horse-riding, dog walking and rambling alike. Don’t forget your camera, the views are outstanding and there’s plenty of wildlife waiting to be found.
Change of pace + Change of place = Change in perspective
Is it really that simple though? I’m not sure but I do know a lot of people move to Lingfield for just that. They want to exchange the big smoke and all it has to offer for rolling hills and fresh air.
A different pace of life for a different stage in life. People move to Lingfield not to get away from the hustle and bustle of bigger towns and cities but to be able to enjoy seeing the stars in the night sky, good schooling and be part of a growing community.
