i never really understood marriage but everyone's enthralled with the idea of it

the only difference between married and unmarried couples are the titles and now there's a piece of paper legally binding you to one another. but outside of that nothing actually changes.

i need a piece of paper to make you commit to me? i need a fancy ceremony to express how much we love each other? you wanna make out in front of our friends and family? no thanks, gag. also you can't testify against your spouse and that kinda gives me blackmail vibes

it's giving yet another capitalistic scheme for cash flow (just like valentine's day) and also it does feel like being leashed and collared. except instead of both the man and woman wearing the collar, it's just the woman. i think i understand where the phrase " the old ball and chain" comes from now (it's plagued me for ages)

Because the perks of that would be

The backing of the Duke's House of Henituse becoming more solid and undisputed.

No pressure of heir if he marries a man (they can't hope for illegitimate ones because the crown prince is Gay).

For those who don't know, that outfit and pose actually is Anatole's from The Great Comet of 1812. Why give this look to Sun? Because when that mf Anatole isn't being a bastard scoundrel he acts/sings so amazingly, a bit fruity, and unhinged.

Honestly I just like imagining the goobers as the people singing when I listen to music sometimes and this just fit so perfectly. Moon would be Pierre and istg it works so well-

The shading was a bit hard because I was trying to use yellow light on a yellow goober, but then I added the blue light and it was smooth sailing from there.

My favorite songs are Letters, Charming, and Pierre & Anatole, they're all pretty story heavy but I love it. (The Ball definitely has the most unhinged Anatole, though the wording can be a bit yikes a few times.)

yunli/yanqing won't leave my brain, they dislike each other sooo much there's so much potential. consider: arranged marriage au.

yunli begrudgingly agrees but then she meets yanqing and he's weak bodied and weak willed and always running from fights and just the WORST. so she tries to get out of it but her grandfather reminds her a swordsman doesn't go back on their word, so that route's out because she's too prideful to back down. but what she's NOT too prideful to do is to formally object to the marriage in the same way an outside suitor would:

challenge yanqing to a duel over her own hand in marriage.

that's absolutely not what that rule is there for, but when yunli says, "oh really? where's the rule that says i can't, huh?" they can't find one. so everyone involved tells yanqing to just not accept the duel because it's barely legitimate anyway, it won't reflect badly on him… except he absolutely accepts the duel because he's PISSED she's calling his strength and honor into question and marrying this girl wasn't even his idea in the first place, who does she think she is? so he agrees in the heat of the moment, and then realizes later that he's being pulled into her childish pace and he's embarrassed, but he can't back down now. and how dare she be so selfish, their union is for the good of other people, and he'd be a perfectly good husband! he's capable and well mannered and smart and has a good job and has a good reputation, and look at HER, no manners and always saying the first rude thing that comes to mind and she doesn't even wear SHOES. HE should be the one objecting to this marriage.

but he's too responsible, and the reasons they're getting married are good and honorable and will help tie their people together or whatever, blah blah you know the trope. so instead of getting married, they start to prepare for their duel, and everyone around them is just so, so tired

While learning to control his powers under the guidance of Clockwork, Danny accidentally curses his own bloodline with the Curse of Sentient Food several centuries in the past. Originally, a witch was supposed to curse his family. Oops. Well, the Fentons were always adapting, and technically, either way, he'd end up battling dino nuggets at three am in his underwear, no matter who the curse came from. So he shrugged and continued on.

Unfortunately, this also means that out of nowhere, the timeline shifted, and some of his very distant relatives are now battling their food into submission at every meal because Danny is ultimately way more powerful than some mortal witch from the 1600s. His version of the curse reached literally everyone he could ever be related to for the last few centuries. Even if they were adopted into the family!

So, returning to the present time after training, Danny is a little startled to see some news clips of people's dinners coming to life and beginning revolutions. Wow, John Fentonightingale really got around, didn't he? He felt a little uncomfortable that now all these random people had to deal with their share of Fenton luck, but from some of the interviews, everyone seemed to be handling it pretty well!

Especially his so-distant-they're-on-another-tree cousins, the Kents, who contacted his family directly, asking how best to prepare a zombie turkey. Their son was coming for Thanksgiving with his new wife and some coworkers, and they just refused to make the guests fight for their lives on a holiday!

They invited the Fentons to join them, of course.
