we started this song together back in 2020 and picked it back up at the end of 2022

'Older' was originally a voice memo of a 50’s-style love song that we wrote together, then forgot about. when thinking of concepts for my debut album i stumbled across the memo and fell in love with it all over again, but i put it aside yet again as to me, it deserved more than the album

the song has changed a lot from the original voice memo, but the meaning has stayed the same throughout. despite all the beauty, the ups and downs of a long-term relationship over many years, there’s inevitably going to be the worst moment of your love because one of you is going to lose each other

capturing those feelings in a song was tricky but ultimately we wrote from the heart and i think it shows in the song itself

this has always been a song between us, so having him play on this song was very importnt to me and im glad he said yes

This came out shorter than I was hoping, but I’m happy with it for this being the first fic I’ve written in months. This is unedited so please excuse any mistakes 😭

Being married to an FBI agent comes with it’s fair share of drawbacks — one of which being you rarely get to see your exhausted husband. He works long days, sometimes not coming home until the sun has already set, and sometimes even going back in to do something if he’s really hooked on a case. Recently it’s been the Jigsaw case eating away at him, making him lose sleep, his sanity, and most importantly: quality time with you.

This morning Peter had woken up before the sun, trying his best to get out of bed without waking you. His warmth receding and the soft creak of the bed was enough to rouse you as you rolled over with a groan, blinking a few times to see him in the soft lamp light.

“I have to go in early today, honey. It’s alright, go back to sleep,” he cooed, urging you to lay back down. He always hated having to leave you, and your pouting eyes made it 10 times harder to walk out that door.

“It’s the ass crack of dawn on a Saturday” you grumble, rubbing your eyes. “Can’t you stay a little longer?”

Peter let out a soft chuckle at your comment, shaking his head fondly. As much as he hated having to work the occasional weekend, you hated it even more. “I wish I could, baby, but Erickson wanted me in early. I promise I’ll make it up to you tonight.” You didn’t protest when he placed his lips against yours in a chaste kiss before pulling the covers over you, letting yourself fall back asleep quickly.

You didn’t wake up until 9 AM, the sun already shining in through the slits in the blinds. It was calm, the only sound being the soft hum of the ceiling fan above and the occasional chirp of birds outside. But still, something was missing. He was missing, his scent still lingering in the sheets. You had gone about your morning normally, getting breakfast and doing a few chores before sitting down to watch TV for a couple hours, but the loneliness of the empty house was creeping in more than usual.

Fuck it, you decided, I’ll just bring him lunch.

That’s what’s led to you here, knocking on the closed office door labeled “STRAHM”. His tired voice calls out, telling you to come in. You push the door open gently, peeking inside as you step in, admiring the way Peter looks when he’s working. He’s leaned over on one elbow, looking down at whatever case file he’s been reading for the last fifteen minutes, the words jumbling on the page and becoming scrambled nonsense due to his exhaustion. He looks exhausted, and that’s exactly what he is.

When he finally looks up and notices it’s you, a tired grin grows on his face, his posture relaxing ever so slightly. “Hey hon, what are you doing here?”

“I brought you lunch and a coffee,” you tell him, holding up your offerings before setting them down on the desk in front of him. “Long day?”

He sighs, taking the coffee with a grateful nod, sipping on it before answering. “Very. This damn Jigsaw case feels like it never stops.”

“You work too hard,” you lament, rounding his desk to come up behind him, rubbing his shoulders. “You deserve a break.”

“If only that was possible,” he hums, longing for nothing more than to take a break and hold you against him for hours. He turns his chair to face you, looking up at you with tired eyes; even exhausted like this, he looks so damn handsome.

“I should let you get back to work,” you sigh caressing his cheek before you press a kiss to his lips, turning to leave. You always dread having to leave his office, knowing that the second you’re out of his company the loneliness will hit you like a truck once more. But this time, before you even get two paces Peter reaches out, large hands finding your waist and guiding you to stand between his legs as his thumbs rub circles on your hips.

“Stay.”

And goddamnit you can’t deny him when he’s looking at you with those big blue eyes of his.

His head dips forward as his arms fold behind your back, pulling you even closer to him. His head rests against your chest in this new position, and his eyes flutter shut as he finally lets himself relax, the sound of your heartbeat constant and soothing. With one hand you let your fingers run through his hair, the other hand gently holding the back of his head, keeping him pressed against you in this intimate embrace.

“God, I fucking love you,” his deep voice mumbles after a minute as he shifts, turning his head to look up at you, his chin still resting against your front.

“I love you too, Peter,” you breathe, gently pulling him back before guiding him in for a tender kiss.

Because a friend told me she never knows what to write and then never comments, but wants to learn how to do better, I thought I’d compile a list, and maybe it will help someone else as well!

As always, this is unofficial and just from my personal experience writing and reading fic, and talking with other fic authors.

What to comment

Honestly, authors love friendly comments, no matter how small. Here are some ideas for short comments you can write to pretty much any fic you enjoyed:

If you want to write something a bit longer, you can for example

Tell the author where you have been reading the fic or what you were doing while reading it

Tell the author what you should have been doing instead of reading fanfic (and that it was worth it to read the fic)

Copy a passage (or several) from the fic you particularly enjoyed

Did the author write a note at the end or beginning of the fic? Maybe even ask a question? Sometimes you can reply to author’s notes in your comment

How did the fic make you feel? Happy, made you cry, made you laugh, made you jealous of a character, or made you want to punch an antagonistic character’s nose in? Write it in the comment!

Is it your first fic in a fandom or with a ship? Your favorite fic in a fandom, or with a specific character? Did you read it in one go? Did you savour it slowly reading over days or weeks? Have you enjoyed every update of a multi-chapter? Do you wish you could read it again for the first time? Write anything you want to let the author know about your reading experience!

Is there a character you particularly enjoyed in that fic/chapter? Tell the author you think they wrote xy character really well!

You can always start or finish your comment with one of the suggestions from the short comments to make sure the author knows you liked it :)

If you really don’t know what to write, or are reading fic in a language not your own (though authors usually don’t mind you commenting in your native language) and aren’t comfortable commenting in either language, you can also leave emojis as comments, for example variations of:

for humor fics: 😂😆🤣🤪💯

Don’ts

There isn’t much you can do wrong when writing comments on fic, but there are a few things you should keep in mind:

don’t criticize (unless negative critics/what they can do better has been specifically asked for by the author, and then stick to the kind of criticism asked for, and best try to include something positive too to soften the blow)

don’t demand more/ask for updates - you can tell the author you’d read it if they wrote more, but don’t put pressure on them, you don’t know what’s happening in their lives right now and for what reason new entries might have slowed down, and they don’t owe you regular or any updates!

don’t tell them what to write (unless the author is taking prompts, and in most cases the comment section is not the right place for prompts, check what the author specified)

Remember: Fan fiction are free, from fans for fans, so etiquette is a bit different than in the Amazon reviews of books you paid good money for! Fic authors don’t have to cater to you, just enjoy that there are fics shared with the fandom :) If you don’t like something, or don’t like a part of something, either close the tab or quietly ignore the issue and just enjoy the parts you do like.

And in general, to end this on a positive note:

Yes, you can comment on older fanfics!

Yes, comment on several fics in a row if you’re reading through fics by one author!

Yes, comment on as many chapters of the same fic as you like!

Yes, you can make art for the fic and tell the author about it!

Yes, absolutely tell the author if you’re still thinking about a fic hours/days/years… after reading it!

Yes, send authors asks on tumblr/other sites talking about how you love their fics, if they link these sites in the author’s notes! (But also comment on Ao3)

Yes, you can comment/review even if you don’t have an account (at least on Ao3 and ffnet)!

Yes, please let the author know if you’re reading a fic for a second time, even if you just write ‘re-read kudos!’

The best comments are also written directly on the site the fanfiction got posted on (so usually ao3/ffnet and not tumblr/discord), both because it makes the note count higher, and because then the comment won’t quickly get buried under unrelated messages or posts.

If you want to leave long comments about different parts of a fic or chapter, you can also make use of the floating Ao3 comment box! It allows you to type your comment while you're still reading, without having to leave the page!

First of all, I gotta say that I absolutely LOVE your fic. I read the first chapter and just... didn't stop reading lol. It was so compelling and the way you describe emotions and depict Leo's mental state is so good!!!! I can't get enough of it. I love how you write his manic thought process and the way that his thoughts jump around in a very 'word association' type way! (That's super accurate to manic episodes!) I also really like the way that his awareness ebbs and flows and how you are able to indicate that to the reader while also maintaining the narrative. For real, kudos to you, that's a super difficult thing to do and you've pulled it off so well! It's absolutely stunning!

Question (and feel free not to answer if this is a spoiler or if you aren't sure), did Leo age in the Prison Dimension? Cause obviously the five years was FIVE YEARS, he didn't just time skip or anything, and he's definitely five years older mentally (for better or for worse, poor guy) but if the Prison Dimension essentially 'stops' bodily functions like hunger, thirst, exhaustion and.. dying, was his aging paused as well?

I'm low-key dying over the idea of Leo still being a kid physically. Like, the mental image of his brothers coming face-to-face with a visibly teenaged Leo who is more scar tissue than skin, it's just, ugghhgg. It's one thing to know 'oh he was a kid, he shouldn't have had to deal with this. He shouldn't have had to have been in that position, this is all so fucked up' but it's another thing entirely to see it, y'know?

Anyway, again feel free to ignore the question if it's spoiler territory or completely off the mark or if you don't have the spoons to answer. I mainly just wanted to say that I'm obsessed with your fic and it has me completely unhinged (pos). Was literally sobbing at 3AM while reading it. 10/10. Would recommend.

(also how the fuck do you write Leo so scary and threatening and yet also so adorable and charming and 'wet meow-meow stuck in the rain'. I'm frothing at the mouth wtf. The whiplash of being all 'oh no he's gonna kill- oh he's purring now, he's baby' is so fantastic holy shit)

and yes, Leo did age!! while the idea of Leo being a time capsule of his teenage self but now so warped is DELICIOUS... I love the idea he aged for several reasons. It was one (or maybe the only) way Leo knew time was passing for him-- which adds to the mental strain of knowing he was stuck there. Forever. And the emotional damage it would inflict on his family because it makes it just more transparent and painful how much time had passed. How long they left Leo there. As well as prove the point that time in the Prison Dimension passed at the same rate as it did on Earth.

Plus, I feel like there's another, dark, angsty edge to it that I couldn't resist. I feel like when the Prison Dimension was made, the primary goal was to trap the Krang for eternity. Whether intentional or not, the Mystic Warriors had practically made a place you could age. Where you can get hungry. Where you can get thirsty. Where you have to face all those painful needs of the body you just can't satisfy... But you just couldn't escape it. Ever.

They say that we fall in love 3 times in our lifetimes. The first is the love that feels right, the second is the love that hurts, and the third is the love that lasts forever.

The first time Seungkwan fell in love with you was when he was 10. Of course, he didn't know much about love at the time; only that it meant kissing on the lips and getting married so that you would be with that person forever.

But Seungkwan felt that spending forever with you didn't seem all that bad, and if it meant he had to kiss you on the lips in the process, he didn't mind that too much.

He was your best friend after all, and he would do anything if it would mean being with you forever. Playing with you every day was something he would never want to stop doing, even when he grew old like his grandparents.

"Seungkwannie~" you call from the playground. "Are you coming to play? We're waiting for you to start our game of tag!!"

Seungkwan brightens up at the prospect and yells back, "yes! wait for me!"

As he runs toward you he can't help but feel that when he's with you everything just feels so right.

The second time Seungkwan fell in love with you was when you both were in high school.

Seungkwan didn't want you to know at first, too scared of the possibility of ruining your friendship with him.

But every time he hung out with you, he couldn't help but wish you were more than just friends. He wished he didn't have to hide his desire to kiss you every time you leaned in closer to hear what he had to say. He wished he could just say "be my girlfriend" whenever you complained about a unrequited boy crush you were having at the moment.

But everything changed when your parents announced that you would leave Seungkwan's hometown in Jeju for a life in Seoul.

Seungkwan was heartbroken to say the least.

When you came to his house to break the bad news, tears flowed down your face, "I'm moving away Seungkwan...I-I can't bear the thought of leaving you."

Seungkwan simply hugged you as tight as he could, as if it could be tight enough to make you stay with him. "It's okay, you'll always be in my heart," Seungkwan says with a bittersweet laugh as tears begin to flow down his face as well.

In that moment, all those months of Seungkwan repressing his feelings seem to release. He doesn't know exactly why he decides to share his feelings for you right then and there. Maybe it was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Maybe it was because he simply couldn't hide his feelings anymore, not when you were pressed against his chest. Whatever the case, he took a great leap of faith and uttered the words he would never imagine he'd have the courage to say.

"I like you. I have for awhile. I know it's a terrible time to tell you but-"

You cut him off with a peck to his lips, "I like you too idiot, I should've told you earlier, but it's too late now." A bittersweet smile passes across your face as you cup your hands around Seungkwan's soft face.

Leaning into your touch, Seungkwan bursts into tears again at the reminder of your move. "I'm really going to miss you, you know?"

You let out a soft smile and hide your face in Seungkwan's shirt, breathing in his scent for what feels like the last time. "I know, just don't forget me okay?"

"Never," Seungkwan promises while running his fingers through your soft hair, something he thinks he won't ever be able to feel again.

In just a week, most of the people in his class wouldn't even acknowledge your missing presence. But Seungkwan will never forget you. He could never forget you.

No matter how much it hurt to live life and constantly be reminded of your missing presence, he couldn't ever let himself forget someone as special as you.

The third time Seungkwan fell in love with you was when he was preoccupied with everything but love.

He had worked his butt off for years to finally get a stable job in Seoul, and at the time he was working his way up the corporate ladder, hoping to get a bit more money into his wallet. This meant practically overworking himself and putting in long hours at work, all for his boss to hopefully notice his hard work.

But, everything changed when you popped into his life once again.

It was a random Sunday afternoon and Seungkwan was just browsing the grocery store shelves, focused on what foods to get for dinner that night. As he was deciding between penne or fettuccine pasta, he felt a person brush past him. Curious, he turned to look to see who exactly bumped into him, only to be met with the back of a girl who felt way to familiar to be just a stranger.

It took Seungkwan exactly 5 seconds to realize who exactly you were. But when he did realize, he felt his lips unconsciously turn up in a smile. "Y/N!!"

When you turned to the sound of your name being called, Seungkwan felt all the air leave his lungs. You were beautiful. The features he had once associated with his childhood best friend had now grown to be more mature.

"Boo Seungkwan? Is that really you?" You ask with a laugh of pure joy and disbelief the minute you lay your eyes on your old friend.

"Of course it's me you dummy. Come on, let me take you to my apartment. We need to catch up on all this lost time," Seungkwan says as he practically drags you out of the grocery store, both your faces reflecting pure happiness.

You and Seungkwan indeed did catch up on lost time. That day, you and Seungkwan spent the whole rest of the day talking about anything and everything at the same time. From what careers you guys were partaking in to reminiscing memories from your childhoods.

In only a few days, you had once again had became part of Seungkwan's daily life. The second Seungkwan got off work you were always there to pick him up, ready to go get some BBQ and Soju where you would proceed to catch up on years of not seeing one another. Then, in the morning after waking up hungover for the 29334 time, Seungkwan would be awoken with a cute "good morning" text from you and some anti-hangover pills on his bedside table.

It was only a matter of time before old feelings began to resurface, and sure enough in only a few weeks of being with you again, it began to occur to Seungkwan how much he really did love you.

He just couldn't help but notice how much brighter his life had become since you re-entered it. No longer was he exhausted at the end of every work day, now he was excited for the work day to end so that he could be with you. No longer did he dread waking up each day to go to work, now he was excited to wake up because that meant he could see you. Frankly speaking, you made his life have motivation.

That motivation being you.

Then it was as if Seungkwan were back in high school again, in denial and hiding his true feelings for you, scared as to what might happen to your guys friendship if he were to confess.

But who knew it would only take one night of Soju to break the cycle.

That night, you had opted out of the daily night drinking after Seungkwan got off work. Mainly because you were fighting a cold, but you didn't get the chance to tell Seungkwan that.

You were only able to let out the words, "sorry I can't go today becau-", when Seungkwan unexpectedly hung up on you.

Truthfully, Seungkwan was disappointed and angry. Yes, he probably shouldn't have hung up so fast and instead heard what you had to say. But Seungkwan felt as if you were blowing him off. So, in response he decided to drink by himself.

In hindsight, this was a terrible and unreasonable choice. One drink led to two, which eventually led him to finish a whole bottle, then another bottle.

And before he knew it, he was suddenly standing in front of your front door at precisely 1 AM. He didn't know exactly how he got there, his mind wasn't exactly processing what was going on, but his feet apparently had a mind of their own and walked to your house.

"Seungkwan? What are you doing here?" Confusion etched all over your half-asleep face after waking up to the continuous beeping of your doorbell.

"I-I-I likee youu. I like you so much, I lovee youu," Seungkwan mutters, his words slurring together, as he leaned forward to try and give you a wet, sloppy kiss.

"UH- Sorry- But, how about we have this conversation when you're not drunk?" You say after pushing Seungkwan's face away from your own.

"whyy~ do you not like me? are you rejecting me? we'll still be friends right? Cuz if not-" Seungkwan rambles drunkly as his face gets pink.

You let out a sigh before saying "Come on" as you lead Seungkwan into your house where he then collapses onto your bed and starts to snore. You silently let out a laugh as you tuck the drunk Seungkwan under the blanket .

"I like you too idiot," you whisper with a smile into the quiet room as you give Seungkwan's puffy cheeks a peck.

When Seungkwan wakes up he thinks he's dreaming.

Across from him, is your sleeping figure, sleeping peacefully as he simply stares at you in shock.

No way.

Tracing your features lightly with his hand, he lets out a fond smile. He decides that if he's dreaming, he's at least going to enjoy this time with you.

You're so pretty in the morning.

As he contiues to trace your features with feather-light touches, it dawns to Seungkwan that this might not be a dream the second your eyes begin to flutter open.

"Seungkwan?" You mutter, your voice still sleepy-sounding,"I like you too, you know," You say with a teasing smile.

"WHAT- HOW DID YOU KNOW I- WHHAT?" Seungkwan yells as his mind gets thrown for a loop. Suddenly he pauses as all his memories from last night come back to him. The soju. The confession. The response.

No. He did not-

But he did.

"Oh my gosh...I-I'm sorry-" Seungkwan starts to say before pausing. "Wait. Did you just say you liked me back?"

You let out a silent nod as you scooch closer to Seungkwan on the bed and whisper into his ear. "I love you Boo Seungkwan."

"Forever?" Seungkwan questions with a teasing but fond smile plastered on his face.

"Forever," you answer as you lean down to give Seungkwan a chaste kiss on his lips.

6. Which ship fans are the most annoying?

For both fandoms, I can find anyone annoying no matter specifically what they ship. Now, if I had to be specific, it has to be people who hate on a ship who are clearly just homophobic.

I recently had been called an "imbecile" by someone over an innocent ItaFushi post and found out they found the ship "diabolical".

Twice, one for each fandom, I made a post about F/F ships and someone had to bring up a M/F ship. Honey, please, I don't care. BEGONE, HEATHEN!

But again, no matter what they ship, if they annoy me, they annoy me.

7. What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them?

Okay, for MHA, I don't actually hate Hawks. I'm more so indifferent with him even when he did appear. However, sometimes in fandom, I find his presence annoying. Especially, whenever Miruko is involved. I was recently salty for a week because for the Miruko tags, it his face there and the artwork centered around him.

Like, no, last time I checked Miruko was a bunny woman. Not a blond bird man whose jacket I have a disdain for.

I even once wrote a fic out of spite because someone said something about Miruko and hyped up Hawks and I'm like "She didn't do anything to warrant this slander but alright". Ever since then, Hawks would sometimes be the butt monkey in my fics. I actually was thinking about doing a sequel to that fic, too.

For JJK, it only recently became Yuta. Now, unlike Hawks, I don't actually not feel anything towards Yuta. I do like him.

However, I have a deep seething hatred for those who constantly bash Yuji to hype him up. Yuta is cool, but he is not that fucking cool to bash Yuji. Come on now. I hate it whenever I go on a post anywhere and someone will talk about Yuji's accomplishments or just only mention Yuji and some assholes will be like "well, Yuta this" and "Yuta that". Yuta is rocking the teenage boy version of Yuji's mom's haircut, so stop.

9. Worst part of canon?

Okay, did Miruko have to lose 3 of her limbs? Her arm? I was fine with that. A leg, I was actually confused for a while as to how she even lost it until I went back and saw what happened but I don't think she should have completely cut it off. 😭 Her other arm? Okay... her and Edgeshot are definitely the Heroes who lost the most in the final war. Mind you, Miruko's Quirk has her use her limbs. I'm glad she got her a little bazooka in the end, but she low-key sacrificed a lot more than other Heroes.

I actually wrote a fic addressing that because I'm salty about it. It was my recent Miruko-centric fic.

Okay, for JJK... do I have anything? Nothing really actually aggravated me... okay, I think Choso shouldn't have died. Or Yuki. I think about them and start punching the air.

10. Worst part of fanon?

Where to begin here? I feel like there are so many things.

For JJK, I low-key have a disdain for the first person who misinterpreted Gojo would be a fucking playboy. Like, no he wouldn't be in a committed relationship because he can't be loyal because "he's a man, he has needs" or whatever bullshit reason. It's because he's a jujutsu sorcerer! And one of the busiest ones in top of that! Hell, we just found out what his schedule looks like, he wouldn't have time to commit!

There's also how dumb some people tend to make Yuji. Like... he's dumb, he even admits it but I think it's just more so that he's not motivated to learn certain things and he just thinks he is. He's smarter than what he (and the fandom) gives him credit for.

And some of the memes? Don't find funny at all. I actually got tired of the "Nah, I'd win" memes I kept seeing. And how Yuta would make fun of someone for having "No bitches". That's stupid, I hate it.

For MHA, again some memes I just don't find funny. Recently any meme I see about "Midoriya being a fast food worker", who makes them instantly has me wishing they step on a Lego. And just saying, fast food workers have probably done more for anybody than certain people. Or that "Katsuki stole Ochako" from him is definitely a case of "those are OCs with the same name" because we know damn well canon Katsuki ain't touching Ochako like that with even a ten foot long pole and vice versa on her end.

Playboy Katsuki? Yeah, not really my favorite portrayal of him in fiction like that. I can see him being very popular and having a lot of girl fans because that's canon, it makes sense. But hooking up with a lot of people? And using it as some "escape" or whatever? Yeah... eh...

Also, sometimes I feel like folks want to use that "Black Best Friend" trope on Miruko whenever it comes to Hawks and DabiHawks. Like, she got to be his hype man or something. The idea doesn't appeal to me really.

a/n: feel free to send feedback, I procrastinated this a lot bc tumblr decided to not let me save like half of it and I had to restart 😭. I love sunshine by skz so was inspired to write about this sunny boy after listening.

osaki shotaro has been your best friend since your mothers introduced you two in diapers. he's still your happy, bright companion from toddlerhood. your taro, supplying your favourite snacks from the times of juice boxes to post-dancing ramen. the one constant rock in your life. the two of you have a set of clothes at each other's houses, buy things that remind you of one another, compete in the same dance team, notice small habits only a lover would realise. neither of you know the feelings you harbour for each other, and it’s painful.

pausing the generic rap music your teacher assigned for your hip hop duo, you turn to him with mochi filled cheeks. you're sitting on the floor of the studio, having a snack break. 10-year-old you gently points to the corner of your eye as he laughs at some long-forgotten dad joke you made. "taro, did you know that when you smile your eyes smile too?" the quietly comforting atmosphere is bubbling with innocence and joy. as you mimic his expression with a scrunched up face, he giggles even more and you smile too. "look, they did it again! they kind of- kind of light up! like they're getting bigger even though they're getting smaller." he tilts his head at your specific realisation. "really? do you think it's cool?" turning to the mirror, he begins smiling and fixating on his eye shape. "I love it! your smile is like sunshine." he stops and looks down, flustered. that's all he needs to know. now he smiles at everything you do.

"ugh, today sucks!" you exclaim, walking home from high school with shotaro. he hums understandingly as you kick a rock and asks you to elaborate. it's sweltering, and he's offering his water bottle every minute. "I argue with my dad this morning, then jiwook has something enlightening to say about my body, I get a low score in science and the one time I get to talk to you I'm upset." his heart pangs at your recount. shotaro’s conflicted by the way he's so affected by a slight change in your mood. you’re his best friend. he almost comes to the conclusion he's hurt by the way your sparkling eyes look worn down because he stares at you more than he'd like to admit. but he's too distracted by something you said.

"what did jiwook say?" he flinches sheepishly, knowing that shouldn't be his immediate reaction. "is that all, osaki?" it gets quiet. you continue. "s-sorry, i'm just on edge. um, he said something about me being an eyesore and no one liking me, i guess. why?" you reply nonchalantly. now he's angry, and he doesn't know how to react without it screaming i'm in love with you. he frowns. "don't listen to him. everyone loves you and you're so beautiful and amazing! my day gets better just when I see you! I wish I could make your day better. gosh, how could he say that about you?" he begins rambling, and you have to cut his usually composed self off by leaning into his side. alarm bells ring in your head and a cacophony of fireworks go off in shotaro’s. you start to realise he's coming off as more than a friend - he might like you too. as the conversation returns to normalcy, the burning sun pulls you away from that wild fantasy. "thanks taro. i'm so lucky to have you in my life."

growing silent, he pulls you into an embrace, stomach blossoming into a flurry of unspoken love. suddenly you've reached your house and you're hugging goodbye. it's just the two of you. he smiles contentedly into your hair until the sun starts to get to you and the world closes in. "you're the only sunshine i need." you mumble into his chest before pulling away and ruffling his hair, walking up to your front door for what feels like forever. "bye! love you!" you holler and he returns it faintly. he wishes it wasn't platonic, beginning to move away defeatedly. little does he know as you shut the door, your head falls and you let out a longing sigh.

"yah. did you hear me?" he nudges, resting his head on yours from behind playfully. you're staring at the dance studio mirror, lost in thought. moonlight spills into the dark lit room from overhead windows, outside it's quiet at this hour. "I called your name like, 3 times." head moving faster than your eyes, you spin around to see your smiley best friend also on his practise break. you're staying late together to perfect routines and have fun freestyling. really, though, it's just to have each other to yourselves while your team is gone. "huh? oh, yeah, what is it sunny boy?" he momentarily freezes, caught off guard at the nickname. god he loves your sleepy tone. he's lucky his endearing smile conceals it all. "wake up! I wanna show you a new choreo i learnt in LA last month!" you nod, immediately dropping crossed legged. shotaro loves the way he always has your undivided attention. you each steal glances at each other through the mirror as he walks to turn on 'siren', and you hype him up with all of your remaining energy. you would've caught the blush on his cheeks if he hadn't began executing the moves with such finesse, power and flow.

your eyes lock for the entire routine. growing shy from the tangible tension in the room, the music abruptly ends with the signature scratch, saving you as your cue to shower him with praise. you clap for eons. his immovable smile is widened by your vocal admiration and he bows like it’s his life duty to thank you. after his name leaves your lips for the nth time, you start to calm down. playfully whistling, you suddenly acknowledge anyone from an outside perspective would recognise you’re blindly in love with him. all he can think about is your appreciation. he joins you on the floor, you pull him into your front and his head finds solace in your lap straight away. should i tell her? echoes through his mind. you fiddle with his hair nervously. sparks fizzle between your bodies, years of want climaxing in a cliche full circle moment.

shotaro finally mumbles your name. “hmm?” you respond, making eye contact. he smiles up at you. rehearsing his big speech inside his head and running through all possible outcomes, he bites the bullet.

“I like you, like beyond friendship. I think I have for a while now. please don't say this changes us, you’re everything to me. I-I just needed to get this off my chest because I live to make you happy and can't keep lying to you."

you sit in shock. the dim lighting of the room amplifies all of your emotions at his confession, and the lower your jaw falls the lower his heart does. time stops in the room and you feel like you're floating. "wow." you breathe. "what is it?" he urges, cheeks already heating up. "I, uh, yeah. me too. I love you too, forever. just can't believe what's happening right now." you giggle. "who knew the flurry of sunshine had some poetic potential?" he tries his best frowny glare but fails, and instead opts for his trademark smile that you adore so much.

sitting up, he gazes at the crescent moon, entranced. you're gazing at his face as his arm absentmindedly snakes around your waist. your eyes quickly find his lips. you're both caught up in how your entire relationship is changed and it's electric. "taro, can I-" you begin, not realising he's thinking the same thing as his eyes have found your lips long ago. his glimmering eyes meet yours and you kiss.

it's a slow, uncertain clash that quickly deepens as you melt into each other. he pulls away and smirks before kissing you again with more passion. your lips dance, hands finding his neck and it seems like eternity in this state would be bliss. but eventually you're pulled back into your senses and your lips part. "i love you" is exchanged at the same time immediately and laughs erupt throughout the room at the sickeningly sweet moment. sighing, you lay down next to each other. "y'know, you're like the moonlight, and i'm like sunshine. yin and yang." he remarks, only ever revealing his sincere side to you. "here comes shakespeare..." you dig. "yah! I wanna be sentimental!" you kiss him again before he can defend himself further. "here's something sentimental. be my boyfriend." shotaro's never smiled harder.

Omg when I tell you this ask made my heart SOAR😭 I’ve loved this series since I first saw the movies in high school (I just aged myself, RIP), but I always imagined them… different than SMeyer did; I’m re-watching the movies this week and I keep noticing what I would’ve done differently. Also, sparkles? You’ll never catch me mentioning that lmao honestly I just take her baseline for the characters/story and make it make sense in my eyes. And honestly I think it’s just the difference in vibes from 10 years ago to now - what we want in romance, perception of paranormal (not that anything about this is realistic, but making it more believable), and having time to criticize the saga.

Jasper is my Roman Empire, he is such a complex character - they all are! They deserve better storylines and just more overall, I just love writing my thoughts with him. But it’s like a coin, the other side is the wolves - more specifically Paul👀 oh my god I don’t even know where to start with the wolves, there’s so much. And I do have a doc started for Paul for after Jasper (there might not be a true and final ‘after’, but like once I crank out BD part 2) for when I can focus my energy on that instead of trying to split it with Redamancy, it’s full of ideas, things I wished we had gotten - especially with imprint relationships. Ugh and then I have that pre-vampire Jasper WIP that’s unrelated to Redamancy🙈 how the fuck do people organize their thoughts to do multiple series at the same time lol

The last part of your ask I’ve been thinking about since I posted Ch29, do you guys like the in-between? Like, the stuff between the timeline events that’s not in the books/movies? I’m always so worried about those parts, because if improperly done, I’m worried you guys are waiting for me to get to the point-to the shit you know is going to happen. Like the grad party, the newborn army fight, big plot points like that; versus the little injects like spending time with Quil, or Emmett, or reader’s mom, those things? I promise those little things have meaning down the road (some for the plot, some to just add angst/fluff/or to just fix SM’s holes) but I’m curious about your guys’ opinions! I’ve definitely read some fics that have had plot fluff that I’ve skipped because I just wanted the meat and I don’t want to bore you guys with that shit if I’m not writing it correctly enough😅

I also just love asks like this that make me think deeper about the story, because it definitely influences and inspires my writing lol thanks love🫶

1.OutlawQueen - 8/10 - I liked it, it was good, it had potential. It didn't fully realize its potential. And Robin's death killed me.

2.CaptainSwan - 1/10 - sorry it's just one of those I don't see, I just didn't see any chemistry between them, which is sad because I like Killian.

3.CharmingSnow - 10/10 - I do love them, they're so sweet and wholesome. Yes.

4.Rumbelle- 0/10 - Boring. Toxic, and not in the fun way.

5. Rumple/Cora (Goldenheart? Idk) -8/10 - THEY BROKE ME. Such a good storyline, Cora's decision to rip her heart out, Rumple's heartbreak, how that makes him harder and more ruthless. Then of course how that influences his behavior towards Zelena and later Regina. Ugh. Doomed love is so good. And they are doomed by their own characters!! God.

Kinda canon I guess? :

6.GoldenQueen - 11/10 - I like this ship in all its iterations, Rumple and young Regina, Mr.Gold and Regina, Rumple and the Evil Queen, Roni and Weaver. It's so good. The potential is *chef's kiss*

7.DragonQueen - 9/10 - this is kinda canon. Fight me. I like it as a past relationship for Regina. It's good.

8.CaptainQueen (Killian/Regina) - 8/10 - yes. Tell me they didn't give "we fucked" vibes?? Tell me that.

Ok ok ok ok ok wrap-up thoughts on the season now that the finale is out:

First of all, DEATHBIT DEATHBIT DEATHBIT

2) ok the subplot with Rogue and Magneto actually grew on me. Like, she’s rejected him ultimately but they still mattered to each other and they still do, it’s just not romantic from her side anymore. I can’t blame magneto for not getting over her rejection I’d never be able to take the psychic damage of losing Rogue

also yeah the age gap was a little weird but I’m living for the drama and the potential for their platonic friendship. I want to make a comment about how their stint is an example of unidentified trauma becoming trauma bonding but then I have to like…write it.

3) I actually think Roberto and Jubilee were super cute and have elected to give their storylines a pass. Like they’re just kids coming into adulthood and have found comfort in each other, that’s good enough for me for now. (Though I’d like to see more of comic-accurate Sunspot being adapted but I digress. It’s only been 1 season.)

Also I think Sunspot awkwardly hanging around the Xmen slowly coming to terms with his speedran adoption is the funniest basis for an arc and have no further comments. Might write a fic later on his Struggles.

4) KURT JOINING THE MOTHERFUCKIN SQUAD BABYYYY and literally just everything about him. Being so supportive of Rogue and holding her and encouraging Gambit and just 😭😭😭😭

5) PHOENIX JEAN PHOENIX JEAN I LOVED JEAN

6) cyclops was one of my least favs in the original, this show put so much respect back on his name. I actually adore him now—plus the scenes with him doting on his grown ass man child is hysterical. Need more of it. I need this guy telling people this Hulk Hogan of a unit is his lil boy.

If Nathan isn’t seen later at a baseball game with Scott in a Summer 01 jersey and the cyborg arm badly painted over I’m committing crimes.

7) I think Storm needed way more screen time. I know there were scenes with her written out due to budget issues (and also them skipping her goodbye to Gambit made me annoyed) but like. The fact that her centric arc was put across two episodes shared with other episodes was irritating.

7.5) In this same vein I missed Bishop, I got so attached!!!! but here’s to hoping he’s kicking ass again in s2!

8) the rate in which I fell in love with these characters all over again is insane. Like harder than the original show in a fraction of the time.

9) Rogue did nothing wrong. 😭

10) Magneto definitely wasn’t right, but it’s interesting to witness how they justified his view point with Genosha and Bastion, and the ripple effect it had on people who didn’t even agree with him in the first place.

11) Cherik lmfao they were SO gay. I’m all for affectionate besties and dudes being shown as having close platonic bonds but this was Very Affectionate Besties with Seductive Grin Bedroom Eyes Charles Every Two Sentences.

12) honestly want a version of this show though where Charles stayed gone. I actually like him! I just think not having him around to help guide everyone made things so much spicier. Magneto was StrugglingTM for Real

13) Gambit’s death was so good, but I definitely figured he’d be coming back somehow because there was no way they were offing him thinking Rogue didn’t choose him.

14) speaking of, I was mostly joking in my shitposts about Death Gambit cause I had my money on a possible Sentinel Gambit with Bastion’s introduction, but the moment they went to Egypt I started clawing up all my old shit posts.

15) ROGUE DID NOTHING WRONG (lots of wrong but you know what? I love her. She can commit wrongs again.)

16) Beast was so good but I also low key wish he had a bit more screen time. His bitterness after Genosha was short-lived, I wish it had been explored more, like Charles talking it out of him or something and reminding him about their goals or…something.

17) Bastion was awesome no notes, hope he comes back as a horseman for the flex

21) “His name was Gambit! Remember it!” Rogue was so beast in this season, it was cathartic watching her beat the shit out of Bastion. Her and Sunspot honestly make for a cool combat duo and I want to see them interact more.

26) Magneto ripping Wolverine’s skeleton out like homie wouldn’t try to kill him with a wooden chair if given the opportunity. If anything now Logan has 0 weaknesses and a personal vendetta he can act upon. Rest in pieces Erik.

27) A goddess, a gravely injured Canadian, and a metaphor for gender identity walk into a bar and all 3 say “ouch” (bad joke. You’re welcome. Don’t worry guys, Storm is there so their arc will be wrapped up in about 12 minutes. Sorry can you tell I’m still mildly salty about her lack of screen time)

28) Rogue launching Cap’s shield is 11/10. Do it again do it again (woulda been top tier humor if the end credits showed him still looking for it frantically as the asteroid got closer)

Mostly that’s all I got. I have various other thoughts including how fucking HYPE seeing my fav duo Cloak and Dagger made me, but these were the key personal takeaways.

tbh im not sure? i like my writing and we all have writers block from time to time, but sometimes i wish i had a better vocabulary but also vocab means nothing if you're going to make ppl open dictionaries every 10 word 😭 also paragraph starts. i hate starting them w "charles max max charles a but charles" if you get what i mean so i especially pay attention on it every new paragraph to make the reading easier 😭

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i always add a () for the english version if I'm going to keep the foreign dialogue just a bit, because come on no one needs to switch between tabs on translate/fic, but if its long, then adding a subtle detail about how they keep the convo in that language and writing in italicized is cool. i also will write dutch and french pet names so randomly. i dont care if it sounds bad for native people im not a native for both 💔

because its my first, and i like the scenario so much, brainstorming w many irls, i think its a very good plot- oiptto. alas i had some people telling me the writing is rlly bad which is, cool, it was my first time writing a fic let alone in english. if you ask about writing, even if i wrote vanilla carnations so fast, i think its rlly nice written also @a-amvryllis helped me sooo much about each event and plots (and i do believe it was creative all of them in general) so i would say that.

The idea was originally for my dottore fic but it got a but too long so I had to scrap it... So where else to share it than to you ofc (and the other dottore likers here)

I've always like the idea who works with/for Dottore. (This means you've been experimented/modified to keep you from dying, similar to the modifications he's made onto his own body) Ofc you would, you're his most trusted assistant among all others! Working with him though meant you partially work for the Fatui as well... As per order from the Jester himself, and sometimes Dottore, you're sent out on missions, but they're never big enough to take you too long.

One day though, after returning from a mission, you stumble inside Dottore's laboratory, all bloodied and littered with injuries. Of course, upon seeing your state, the segments go on a frenzy of panic, concern and rage. Everything else is forgotten and they're all immediately on you, and it was prettyyy overwhelming... Some of them are asking with concern if you're okay, and what hurts and if you could walk, others are scolding you for being reckless enough to get badly hurt from your mission. But you could tell they were all so concerned for you and they HATE to see you covered with YOUR own blood :(

I'm pretty sure you'll do fine, you have a bunch of doctors fretting and caring for you. A few segments are patching you up, disinfecting your woulds and wiping away your blood, while some are (mildly) testing your body and fixing the wires and mods attached to what's left of your organic parts... They're all soooo gentle and soothing, when you flinch or hiss from the pain, they're all frowning and muttering silent apologies and promising you'll feel much better afterwards.. Then they're 100% all making mental notes to make the people who hurt you for... No other reason :3

And then when you finally go to Dottore's office, covered in bandages, he's so fussy that you didn't call for him for his help. You try to reassure him the segments took care of you but... Yeah, he's pretty jealous and upset because he can take care of you 1000x better than all of them combined (he personally did all the modifications on ur body after all), but he's so glad ur okay and he's not letting you go outside of his lab for at least a month or so 😭😭😭

I just think there's something so intimate on dottore fixing your parts and body x3

OH MY GOSH YOU'RE SO REAL FOR THIS.... ME AND THE OTHER DOTTORE ENJOYERS ARE LOVING THIS

Aww yes,,, ;( I so completely agree, I feel like having *the* Dottore work on your body is such a huge show of trust between the two of you! Like, you know what he's done to other people, but you aren't scared of what he'd do you to at all, because you really do trust and love him that much. It makes me think of that moment in your Dottore drabble that I really loved, when he put his hands around reader's neck but they weren't scared at all, being more curious and sassy than anything, i LIVE for displays of affection (which, to normal people, would not be 💀) between these two like that 🤭 Okay moving on- yes yes I agree... sometimes Dottore wishes he kept you a secret because he doesn't like how the Fatui just steals you away from him at all. But he and the clones deal with it.

For the most part, you never needed to worry about injuries, as you were quite strong. It kind of comes with being the Doctor's lover... unfortunately, you aren't as calculating as he, and sometimes things go haywire. Such as this time... For the most part, you really have nothing to worry about, you have a bunch of clones of one of the most knowledgeable men in Teyvat healing you with NO rest or stopping at all. What other injured person could say they've been treated that well? That's right, there is none. Ahhhh... but they also don't have to deal with all of the segments talking at once and doing 10 different operations and treatments on you and asking you 15 questions per minute, and also them swearing to do *censored bad things* to the people who did this to you, and then them fighting with each other for asking you dumb questions and "stressing you out". Yes, indeed overwhelming, but... at least they are cuties and they genuinely care for you.

OMGGG IDEK WHAT I CAN ADD FOR THE SEGMENTS TREATING YOUR WOUNDS THAT'S SOOOO CUTE 😭❤️❤️❤️ I am just. Disintegrating. Them turning soft just for you and giving you that royalty treatment fr ;( ahhh my heart <33 It's not everyday you see the segments working in harmony together, but you know it's a serious matter when they are!

LMFAO I bet you'd walk into Dottore's office like "honey im home! <3" and he'll look up and see you just smiling with a bunch of bandages and he'd just be .... blank for a few seconds. Oh he is so fussy. Mad you got injured, mad at the people who hurt you, mad at the Jester for sending you out which got you hurt, mad at the segments who got to treat you instead, mad that he let you get hurt... reader get ready because you're not leaving the lab for a bit! Ahaha !!! 😅😅😅

Weird enough I have come to some conclusions! For instance, even if I write from Gale's POV 90% of the time, I start with John's name more often than not.

I also never start with a dialogue, apparently.

I tend to have short first lines - which is weird because I do not possess the gift of brevity.

I have two fics that start with the exact same line, being one the alternate version of the other! And it's my favorite opening line ever.

Such stuff's opening line is the funniest.

But most of all, I realized I need to change the opening line for the Timelines AU because it sounds like the tagline for one of those summer blockbusters with superheroes or some shit 😭😭 I promise you it's something more philosophical than that 😅
