Ifan ben-Mezd is dying and we assist at his funeral.
Ifan ben-Mezd, the crusader, the blade of Lucian, the Lone Wolf, the murderer, is agonizing before our very eyes. He kills himself a little when he betrayed the Lone Wolves. He kills himself a little more when he swears vengeance to all those who have fooled him, betrayed him, lied to him. He gave the fatal blow when he stood up against Lucian, one last time, and refuse maybe the best outcome for mortals, but he can't bring himself to cede against that man. Not again.
Dorian Gall can promise gold all he wants, but he's not that kind of man anymore. He does not want to be.
And Ifan ben-Mezd finally disappears. I know a lot of fans don't like his ending, but for my part, i cherish it. Ifan abandons here his murderous past ( as a Lone Wolf and as a crusader ) and his once bloodied hands are now stained with dust. The land heals, and Ifan heals with it.
When he disappeard afterwards, he left his soul behind. He left himself behind. No more death by his hand, no more violence, no more of Ifan ben-Mezd. He's better than that now.
Ifan, Ifan, Ifan, I love you. You deserve this redemption, and be unknown is like, the best thing that could happen to you.
