He never helped you out unless you asked, but, should you make that mistake, to ask for help, he'll nod and simply guide you aside like you're a sheep and he's your shepherd. Sgt. MacTavish as well as Sgt. Garrick had initially been warm and inviting, had made you feel like this was your team- until you noticed how they'd leave you out whenever they could. Sure, neither of them were rude but- they weren't proper teammates either.

And then, of course, Captain Price.

What should you say about this man? How horrible he is? Would that do what he's put you through any justice?

As if this alienation from the people you literally had to trust with your life wasn't bad enough, the way they seemed to pity you was worse. Like you were a small child who dropped your candy.

I'm actually a bit disappointed with how sloppy the process for this one was, it took me WAY LONGER than it should've for me to make the sketch, which costed precious time I could've spent rendering and polishing, making this come out at only a 50% progress

the main factor was Pom Pom's face, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to keep it close to Ark's design, or implement the canon Pomni anatomy, resulting in various retakes. It's not the design itself that's the problem, it was my incompetence/indecisiveness lmao

I wish I could've done more rendering to do Ark's Pomni justice she deserves, but mistakes exist to teach one a lesson. And it's a lesson well-learned to do better with the next one

Cooper can admit that you're a stubborn little smoothskin. This is the fourth time in three days that you'd slid up to him, all soft flesh and smelling delicious, and looked at him with such an innocent gaze that it always shocked him at the filth that spilled out of your mouth.

You learn that his name is Hancock, and he's the Major of Goodneighbor. He buys you drinks, and it's an embarrassingly short amount of time before you turn to him, eyes hopeful.

The ghoul doesn't miss a best, hands already on your hips as he leads you out of the Third Rail and to the hotel across the street, and conveniently right beside Cooper's rented room.

No hi I'm back again because after sitting on it for a while it was like Arcane suddenly saw all those issues it presented and abruptly decided that it was time to turn a blind eye to it instead in favour of a greek-tragedy-cosmic-horror-doomed-soulmates storyline. Whether this is due to studio interference or due to the actual politics of the writers, I don't know, but at the end of the day Arcane disappointingly fails to break free of the neoliberal messaging that deeply pervades any media that even tries to be progressive. It presents all these very real systemic issues, then either forgets about it or slaps on a last-minute band-aid solution that only serves to brush it under the rug.

I will grant that a part of it is just the fact that they simply didn't have enough time. A lot of this could've been expanded on had we just had one more arc, or even just three four-episode acts instead. The quick pacing honestly did Arcane a disservice this time. They had huge ideas, many of which were great, but they simply did not have enough time.

Some things that I wish we saw more of:

Ekko's community building and the fruits of his effort (and to add on to this: let him see his tree again!!! wtf!!)

Jinx and Sevika (and Ekko!!!) really, truly leading a united Zaunite revolution for longer than like half an episode that forces literally anyone in Piltover to consider the consequences of their actions

On that same point: meaningful change that takes down systemic barriers - better public infrastructure for Zaun, better funding for health issues, examining injustices committed by enforcers - this was only barely addressed by Ekko ("you're destroying our vents and polluting our waters") and then like never talked about again

Putting Sevika on the council as the singular token Zaunite is so painful like I can tell you as someone who's been the only queer non-white voice in the room that it's not as progressive and cool as it might seem to be. It's painful and torturous and just reeks of tokenism. A good first step would be to have a council with an equal amount of members between Piltover and Zaun but that's not enough to just have that!!

Jayce and Caitlyn actually having like, even a moment, just to think about what they've done to hurt, to oppress others, in their pursuit of "justice". Making weapons you never said you would and gassing a city of civilians should be thought about more, actually

Like there could've been so much more to Jayce and Caitlyn to make their characters even more well written. At their core they truly want to do good, they care, they earnestly want to help, but they are also raised in privilege and I want to see them wrestle with the biases they've been soaked in more.

I already talked about Maddie and the enforcers in a different post but just... more nuance about enforcers and how even the nicest enforcer you know will happily gas civilians and stand by and watch unnecessary violence. Like. Loris was one of the "good enforcers" but he helped to gas civilians too. Did we forget that

i might get hate for this (cause ive gotten hate for less by toxic stans) but fuck it. this post is a little all over the place bc im tired but eh.

idk if this post will make sense but ill try my best to explain. ill be so pissed if jlb takes the prague storyline (which is JAMESONS) and somehow gives it to lyra/grayson or like anyone else (like, for example, if she makes another character go through the same thing jameson went through in prague or smth). jlb treats jameson like shit and almost never gives him any time to shine (she gives all of the spotlight to grayson... makes me think of a certain grandfather). i feel like the prague storyline would be such a good opportunity to explore jameson's character and actually do him justice (bc although i loved him in tbh, she could've done better. she clearly focused more of grayson's chapters). like, for once, i want him to have smth thats actually his (other than avery) (yes he had that entire plot line in tbh where he got the castle and stuff, but its just not the same. idk how to explain T-T (maybe its cause a castle isn't really important/doesn't truly solve the main problem, his self worth issues (aka the reason why he needs something to be his in the first place)?). i feel like his story wasn't truly finished bc his self worth issues weren't really resolved). i wish that jlb delved more into jameson's mental health and stuff like she did with grayson, and i think the prague plotline would be good for that.

the only reason i'm worrying about this is that we have no confirmed jameson pov. avery doesn't know what happened in prague, so we won't find out in games untold (unless pain at the right gun is about that night). jlb definitely has to address it at some point, and, since she constantly ignores jameson's character, and the entire series is coming to an end in a few years, i don't think we'll be getting another novella (in jameson's pov) or smth solely about prague. i'd hate for jameson to just mention what happened briefly at some point in the tgg series as if it's nothing. like, why would she makes jameson go through all of that/keep it a secret just to completely scrap that plot line and give it to someone else.

edit: there seems to be some confusion (my post was kinda confusing so i get it). i've had people message me abt this. i don't think lyrason are going to be in games untold. there's no reason for lyra to be in games untold bc she isn't really part of the og series/cast. this is the og cast's time to shine. i honestly don't really get how people can think she'll show up (not hating or anything). it just doesn't make sense. i'm afraid that the storyline will be given to them in tgg.

untouched tragedies of elder faerie cookie (aka, some thoughts on the bug.)

elder faerie is such an interesting character to me, i truly wish he was done some more justice....

his purpose is to die. he knows that. it isn't sugarcoated, none of that... he is well aware that if he fails as guardian, death is the only other resort. he is nothing if not guardian. hell, if he relinquished those duties under some circumstance, i'm not sure he'd be able to find much identity outside of it. something very notable about each of these faeries is that they simply take life as it is given to them.

elder faerie knows how morbid his duty is and still fulfils it without question! it's no secret that he's terrified of the witches to some degree. he guards the aftermath of their magic. he was taught first hand by them. he knows exactly what these godlike creatures are capable of. which makes him being unable to stop white lily all the more heartbreaking ☹️

he knew she would die out there yet still didn't hold her back. she was the first cookie whom truly understood his duty, motives .. exactly why his mission was so sacred. his respect for her own mission and seeking of freedom, truth, was her demise.

elder faerie also seems to know the truth — if not greatly implied. he carries eons upon eons of burdens and truths and yet does not fall victim to them, he's designed to be like that.

the fact he is able to feel - unlike the silver knights - is so SO important. to truly feel the passion for the life he protects, he must have those emotions. he still bears the weight of the world and can feel it all. those burdens still weigh upon him. he does not have the privilege of simply being able to wipe away his memories and slivers of an identity in thick silver. as these knights also need a leader with some hold, otherwise it creates a true hivemind.

very notable that elder faerie is the reason why we weren't cooked up until this point by the way. the witches, of course, performed the original sealing, but ever since then the weight of the world has been upon him. these witches are long gone.

many will never know that it is elder faerie whom has kept the world from being plunged into darkness on multiple occasions. as he, just like all else in beast yeast, has been washed away by the tides of time.

his power at full capacity is implied to be great. he has mentioned sealing the beasts away on the occasions they did escape, fighting them back each time. and look at what white lily did with only PART of the guardian's power!!!! the witches would also not assign a warden significantly weaker than whom he barricades.

this all circles back to elder faerie's purpose being tragic. the sealing was futile from the beginning, these beasts were always destined to escape. elder faerie's many eons of agony were only a delay of the inevitable. and to think how many more he could've endured if not finally given that peace..

+ sad he did actually die, but his death was enjoyable in some way. NOT THAT I LIKED THE FACT HE DIED I WANT HIM BACK but it was his final flip off to the beasts. he died to his own overexertion, none of them got the satisfaction of bloodying their hands with his remains. he was able to securely pass on his power too so a guardian would still remain. no wonder shadow milk crashed out, absolute peak.

truly hope we learn more about elder faerie as a person, there has to be SOMETHING outside of his duty. it's what white lily and his subjects grew to know, after all. and also his thoughts behind more questionable things (see: silver knights)..... delve into his grief and tragic fate please and tyy <3

Funnily enough, I've never been too big of a Jason Todd fan. Not because I don't like him, he's a great character, but because DC fails over and over again to give him justice and treat him right.

The number of times alone this boy has been beaten by his adoptive father, betrayed, and forgotten are far too many, far too much.

And the constant portrayal of Jason as this volatile, violent, mindless man is tiresome, lazy in all senses of the word and overdone. I understand that Jason was unstable after he left the pit, I mean, who wouldn't? The trauma of his death alone could've sent anyone crazy, but then to experience everything else afterwards, including having to come to terms that Bruce not only did not kill his murder but also replaced him, leaving Jason to grieve what was once his and what he should've gotten, of course he'd be less than okay.

Again, I'm not the biggest Jason Todd fan but I do wish more people would see just how much good Jason has in his heart, how kind and gentle he can be once his walls are down, when he's no longer constantly analyzing your actions and wondering why would you bother talking to him, getting closer to him.

In my opinion, a man who is so gentle with children, who constantly gives second, third, and fourth chances to people who don't deserve it, who despite it all still wants to make a change and protect the city that failed him, couldn't possibly be anything but the most caring partner. Not just partner, no, also brother and friend.

We all know what he did to Tim and Damian, there are reasons, such as his mental instability at the time and rage, and though those are not excuses, I believe Jason would still drop everything to go save his family. He might complain, he might brood, but family is something important to him even when just looking at them hurts him. He lost his loving mother, stepmother, far too early and it's not hard to imagine that even with all the pain and grief inside his torn heart, the little boy inside Jason still craves the warmth of a family.

Just look at the way he treats his friends, at the way he helps them through situations no one else would, how caring and attentive he is. Jason is gentle, sure, he is rough and mean and he's got blood on his hands, but Jason is made of love.

Jason was made to be loved.

So I think, whether platonic or romantically, Jason would treat you so well. He'd scold you for not wearing warm clothes during winter, "We're in Gotham, you fucking moron, you wanna freeze to death?", all while wrapping you with his jacket or scarf. He'd make sure you're eating at least something every day, and if not, he would immediately put you under his arm, maybe over his shoulder, and take you to the nearest food chain he could find, "I don't want to hear you complaining about headaches when all you had today was a cup of coffee and gum.".

Lord, he'd be torn between freaking out and being extremely annoyed that you got hurt, be it at work, a fight, or just out of clumsiness. But no matter what, his hands would always be so, so gentle when touching you. The tip of his fingers brushing under the injury, as light as a breeze, his other hand holding the back of your neck, or your bicep, perhaps even your hand just to make sure you're there, with him.

Jason would both hush you gently, "I know, sweetheart, we're almost done.", and also tease because he's a little shit at heart, "If you had a little more awareness than a ten year old this wouldn't have happened, idiot."

And physical touches? Oh, love, Jason is a sucker for intimacy.

I know for a fact he wouldn't be comfortable for a long time with anyone in his personal space due to the torture he went through. The trauma would make his skin crawl any time someone got too close or brushed past him, he'd hate it so much because it makes him weak but also because he can't let anyone try to hug him without feeling sick to his stomach.

And with you it's no different. It would take a long time, a lot of trust being built up, conflict and confessions, maybe he'd even open up to you with his head on your lap as you brushed his hair softly, a big, big step for him after years of not letting anyone close. He'd tell you about the Joker, about having hope in Bruce, about his biological mother. And he'd feel vulnerable like a child when you wipe his tears gently without a word.

Once he starts craving your touch, though, regardless if you two have a platonic or romantic relationship, Jason is putty in your hands. Forehead kisses when you part ways, cuddling on the couch while he reads and you're on your phone, thighs touching when sitting close, even a little bit of hand holding when he's stressed and needs to play with your fingers.

He's like a big cat that's constantly making his way onto your chest, stealing your breath and making biscuits on your skin, making sure you're giving him sufficient pats every day.

It's a little part of him that he's barely able to properly allow space for. There's still so much hurt in Jason, so much confusion and desperation, hatred and upset, that he'd probably still close off sometimes, try acting tough so you'd see how fucked up he is, how he's not truly worth of your love.

And yet.

And yet all it'd take for him to go soft and pliant in your hands would be a single touch, cupping his cheeks, brushing his skin softly with your thumbs, right under his pretty emerald eyes, making sure his gaze is on you and only you. Just like that, he'd slump his shoulders and bring you into his arms, breathing a sigh of relief and squeezing you close, your heartbeats synching.

He wouldn't remember when he started feeling safest in your arms but it'd feel like it was since forever. Like there was no one else but you.

Jason was made to be loved, though he is a little broken and a little tainted, lost like a child and hateful like a sinner, your love might just be his salvation, something he's greedy for, selfish for, even when he's so hesitant of somehow hurting you.

Ripping the bars of my enclosure off bc Caitlyn could've been SO much better. She could've done everything she did in such a better way. I'm not against her being a villain, I'm against how it was written.

Jinx and Caitlyn are mirrors, okay? They are - they were. Two sides of the same coin, but season 2 bent that quarter in half. Blue haired freaks obsessed with their red haired protector. Jinx was the violent to Caitlyn's calm. Vi was their middle.

Now, the death of a mother can drive her upset. I understand, it's a good motivator. But, Vi and Jinx lost their parents 4 (later 5) times over. There was one loss to their 5 losses. Vander's death pushed Powder into the arms of Silco - who helped her lose her mind.

Now, Caitlyn's loss led her to Ambessa (another parallel) HOWEVER there is no weight to her loss. I mean it. You felt it when Vi lost Vander, everytime. A punch that left you weeping as hard as Powder. Cassandra's death was... artistically as hell, but did we feel it? Did it weigh on us? In my opinion, no. It lacked the impact. We get to see how strong Caitlyn is, holding in everything until she runs into Vi.

But you know what would've made it hurt? Made her descent into cold heartedness *impactful?* If she broke like Jinx. I was waiting for the moment Caitlyn lost it *all.* I was expecting her to tear everything off her walls, screaming as she sobs. Make a mess, because if she was losing her morals, we had to see it the first time, not just when Ambessa called her forward.

She could've pricked her hand on a pin. Landing jn front of a poster of Jinx. Then, then we could see her resolve form. Then we could see her accept her new position. And we would feel her, know she chose it cause she was set on this. That her peace would be achieved when she brought Jinx to justice.

What we saw in the show lacked that relatabilty. Not literally, I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't bomb an entire city council because we accidentally killed our toxic adopted dad, but those screams of agony and her real anxiety meltdowns hit you hard. Because you've cried like the before.

And when it all comes down, the walls build up. To hide the mess you feel deep inside with a facade of rage and cruelty. And Caitlyn could've been so much better as a villain if she had weight to her. She lost all complexity in season 2 - they all did. But she was the most disappointing. And her karma didn't even feel like anything. You watch her get stabbed in the eye, picking a fight she finally can't win, and you're not satisfied with anything. There's no point to it, other than Cait picking a fight. Again. It's not even relieving to see her get humbled, it's just... bleh.

And it shouldn't be! The woman lost an eye for going in too deep over her head the entire show! But again, there was no emotion with it. I feel like Maddie's reveal was much more Caitlyn's getting what she deserves more than the fight with Ambessa. It was all so squished together. There was no time to sit and feel, like how Episode 3, Act 1. It was just, heres a fight, cait lost, but its okay, mel killed her own mom for cait, the end.

And again, another parent was lost. And no one went to the extremes Caitlyn did. Now, again, I understand Caitlyn, she's the rich kid experiencing a sliver of what Zaun goes through daily, of course she'll act entitled to revenge. I just wish it had left a bitter taste, instead of confusing me with a bowl of damp oatmeal. She could've had so much more lead to her war crimes, but it was all sewn together with safety pins.

!! Will include some lgief spoilers !! I am so in love with lgief. It follows the typical villainess-capturing-the-unconquerable-character's-heart-isekai trope but it's so well done. Since I am still undeniably hooked with this series, I will be listing the things I took note of while watching. ( Reminder that the following comments are based on my opinions alone.) - First, the chemistry between the two main leads is top-notch. A sweet enemies-to-lovers done with justice by the actors. From their silly bickering to slowly falling in love and eventually having open mutual affections for one another. The development in their relationship was greatly paced, you can't help but melt over their growing trust for each other.

They didn't have a 'proper kiss-on-lips scene' but their forehead kiss felt way more intimate to me compared to the side couple's kiss scene. There's so much emotion with this interaction alone and I couldn't help but be touched.

Huge kudos to actors Esther Yu and  Ding Yuxi for portraying their roles so well and creating great chemistry for the romance of these two characters. - Next, speaking of good portrayal of roles, Ding Yuxi (actor of Ziqi), had such remarkable control over his facial expressions! (see latest reblog)

I think it added so much depth to Ziqi's character, making him very easy to love.

Same goes for Miaomiao! I can't imagine an actress who would suit her role more than Esther Yu! So lovely and refreshing, she feels so natural and the cuteness doesn't feel forced at all. - As for the plot itself, I really enjoyed realizing the twists in each mystery and seeing everything connect with the hints from the beginning to the end. The pacing didn't feel too fast or too slow, just right to keep the story moving. I also really like the usage of characters from previous arcs. - For the side couple, I like the nobility in Mu Yao's character, her willingness to stand with her loved ones and protect them along with her own virtues. I think she's a strong character with a great established ambition along with her flaws. - As for Liu Fuyi, however, I think he could've had more chances to show his emotional bonds with characters other than Mu Yao but it became a lost potential. He's alright, but I just couldn't find it in myself to have any attachment towards him compared to the other characters. He felt bland in comparison (and it's definitely not because of his calm demeanor), I personally think he just needed more silly self-centric moments to make him feel more like he's a person and not just a plot device. Overall, the drama was such a great binge! I wish I could watch it again for the first time. That's all!

Tbh if this show doesn't get a 2nd season I won't be entirely upset because then they'll get the chance to maybe actually REBOOT the show and do Moon knight real Justice, because the way he was handled in this show was just not right, I mean if you wanted to appeal to a modern audience then you should've just instead either stayed true to his source material OR write him in a way that doesn't really copy other characters and makes him really relatable as well, don't just write him with the same quote unquote "comedic" formula over and over again, ACTUALLY give him a trait that makes him distinguishable and likable from other characters

for example If there's 1 thing I love about Moon knight, it's the Shit that comes out his mouth 🤣 like the guy is so random and weird that it actually makes for some great comedic moments, like I know they're just Memes but some of the shit here is so good that I HONESTLY wish it was part of his character, because it just fits SO WELL, not to mention his supernatural side is SO interesting, people tend to forget that moon knight isn't just a street level hero, he actually fights demons and monsters as well

Hell his 1st appearance was in Werewolf by night issue #32, not mention he has ties to other supernatural characters like Blade, the midnight sons and of course, the Infamous DRACULA, I feel like they really misunderstood Moon knight because he's not just Marvel's batman or Egyptian indiana Jones, if he anything he's Marvel's local Crazy person; he's a loose Canon who is willing to do anything to win in a fight, a character who is so Unpredictable that TASKMASTER is scared to fight him, a character that is so complex that his LITERAL nickname is Looney Mooney, and a character that is so obscure, that the entire premise of his books keep changing. I feel like if you wanted to make a Moon knight show, then you should've had just dived into his weird /Supernatural aspect more rather than abandoning it almost entirely and ended up sticking to his grounded side, like have him start off with fighting regular criminals and then lean into/ introduce some of his supernatural enemies like Demons, Gods, monsters, and Vamps, just to keep things more interesting, in fact HE should've been our introducing to the Supernatural in the MCU, Not Blade, not ghost rider or Whoever they originally did it with, if Strange is the mystical, Spiderman is the street level, then Moon knight should've been Supernatural

hell if ya really wanted to ya could've just probably had him go up against ancient Egyptian cult like worshippers like Sun king and Ra, that way you can still do the whole Avatar thing and have it make more sense especially for a power vs similar powers type play story with Marc being the Avatar for the MOON God and Sun king the avatar for SUN God, and with both coincidently happening to be Birds (what can I say I'm a simple guy lol )

Another thing I really wish that they could've done more would be playing more into Marc's and Konshu's relationship and had it FEEL like whether he was really real, or just a figment of Marc's imagination, like NOW you can't do that so that's out the question, but if they did I'd probably have it like he's just a voice in Spector's head telling him to quote unquote enact his "Righteous" vengeance upon people, I mean you can still probably play it off like with Marc seeing him and stuff like that and just give us the idea that if he's REALLY there or that if it's just another part of Marc's imagination, like have him really struggle with what's real and what isn't, like Did he make Konshu up or something like that when he died, or was it truly real? I think the big interesting thing about Moon knight is his Mentality and how he struggles with his other personalities and reality, all while he tries to not seem Batshit Crazy, in fact I feel like instead of going with Steven grant or any of his personalities to start off the show, they should've have went with marc himself and introduced his personalities later episodes or even start it with him as moon knight and slowly give us his origins through flashbacks so we can at least see how he got to this point

Finally i think they should've handled his power set a little better, don't get me wrong I love the idea they went with his suit being ancient armor and giving him unlimited moonerangs and weapons and whatnot but the thing that makes Moon knight REALLY cool is that he's just a guy in a suit, giving him actual Powers was a big mistake because then it takes away from all the urgency and suspense we could have if the possibility of him dying could happen, having him not being able to be Stabbed or killed was just crazy because then it makes him F*cking INVINCIBLE, mortality is what we love to see in our character's because then we can both relate and root for them when they're stuck in situations, making him invulnerable basically takes away from that and doesn't really make him all that interesting, don't get me wrong you can still give him powers if ya want, just don't make it like that if he's effing invincible or can fly like Superman though, instead have it be more like he gets Enhanced strength, speed, and durability from the moon God Konshu, that way he still can have powers and be hurt at the same time, and if or when he finally loses his powers, either by something or if Konshu's completely done with him, you can have him then Make his own moon knight suit and still be a vigilante, that way you still have Moon knight and he's more like his comic accurate self. Maybe even have the show be something like about if he still wants to be Konshu's disciple /Puppet or if he wants to just be done with everything and then have him have this whole character arc and realize that he still DOES want to do this but NOT as a servant to Konshu, he wants to act HIS righteous vengeance on people, not just be controlled to do it, he wants to protect people because he's the only who can and no else can do the job except him, tbh, that would've made for a WAY better show than what we got, hopefully they can still do it with all the popularity moon knight's been getting lately, but lemme know what you guys think, do ya agree or should they just leave things as it is?

Honestly it's kinda funny that you ask lmao cause this is something I was thinking about pretty recently? I didn't mention it in my initial review cause I think in the face of everything else, I didn't even realize initially that they were completely absent. But I can forgive myself for that, given just how much else was also skipped over

I suppose it's probably because, once again, the question of who became divine and thus what happened to the circles is the issue. Because if the circles still exist in some form (under Cass or Viv), the tranquil are presumably mostly contained within the circles (especially as we also know that some bad things happened to them during the revolution, so there's probably fewer of them now and not for good reasons). Though if the circles have been disbanded, where the tranquil would've ended up is a good question. Because while they are still like, functioning adults, they are more vulnerable due to lacking any real self-defence skills or exposure to life outside the circles or even just. Basic fear, so you know when you need to be on guard. So-called negative emotions like fear are really vital for survival actually but that's also a different topic lmao

Anyway, I think the reason for them being absent is cause bioware was still dancing around that choice, which means they couldn't really show what happened to them. Mind you, tranquil merchants exist outside the circles (there was one in Denerim in origins) and also we know that tranquility is done in Tevinter too (though the Tevinter politics in general are super watered down, so of course that wouldn't come up). But given the games avoidance of all political topics, I'm not super surprised there was no mention of them. I don't even recall a codex, which is kind of odd, but I guess the concept isn't relevant enough to anything that happens in veilguard

As for my own thoughts as to what happened to them post-circles, I like to think that at least some cells of mages would've felt it important to care for the tranquil. I also really like to think that the cure for tranquility become more known and that maybe, just maybe, all the surviving tranquil (at least outside of Tevinter) may have been cured in the 10 years since. That's super wishful thinking lmao but I like to consider it. It could've been something mentioned when we went to Rivain, even, as that'd be the perfect place for it to happen

(I have also, of course, thought heavily about what my Hawke and Anders might have been up to post-circle dissolution and honestly, trying to help the tranquil would be a super fitting option in my opinion, maybe starting out just trying to protect them but later learning how to cure them and then doing that. Because yeah, the circles are gone, so they can finally relax at least a little, but while both of them could use a break, I don't think either of them would be able to sit idle forever. They're the kind of people that need to be doing things lmao. And this also is righting one of the fundamental injustices of the circles, one that has still not been corrected so long as tranquil mages still exist, and one that has affected Anders personally. And given Justice, they could actually do it if they only knew how and I'm sure Justice would be 100% down. So that may end up being my personal headcanon lmao. I'm still rolling things around in my brain, but I think it's a really good option regardless)

The best adaption of the famous Superman story 'For the Man Who Has Everything' is not the Justice League episode of the same name (though that is a very good episode and adaption) but rather, the Supergirl season 1 episode 'For the Girl Who Has Everything'.

As with the comic, Kara- like Clark- is ensnared by the Black Mercy, a plant that entraps it's victim in a hallucinogenic vision of their ideal life, and like Clark, we learn that Kara's vision of an ideal life is living out her time with her family on a Krypton that is never destroyed.

What's interesting is that Clark's vision of Krypton is not really grounded in anything- it can't be. He was a baby when he left and he has no memories to cling to. It's shown that what Clark really wants is being able to live in a world where not only does he not have the power to be a hero but their is no need for heroes at all. His visions of his parents, of what Kryptonian life might have looked like, all of it- it's all a fabrication. Even his dream wife is clearly just 'Lois Lane but on Krypton'. Clark Kent's darkest fantasy is "I don't have to be Superman anymore", because being Superman is a terrible sacrifice, but one he feels he has to make, like he does at the end of the story when he finally breaks free.

But that's not the case for Kara, because Kara's darkest fantasy is not "I don't have to be Supergirl anymore". Kara likes being Supergirl even despite all the sacrifices it demands of her, in part because its her way of making up for not being there for Clark/Kal El when he first got to earth. Instead Supergirl's darkest fantasy really is 'Krypton was never destroyed and none of this ever happened'- because for all the good in her life: from her adopted family, to everything Clark has become, to the friends she cares about so deeply, to everything she has done as Supergirl- she would trade it all to go back to Krypton, back to her family, her world, her life before it was all violently ripped away from her.

Kara remembers Krypton in a way Clark doesn't, and so her vision is more cruel in a way his can't be. Those visions of her parents aren't guess work or fabrication, that's really as she remembers them, and her vision of Krypton and what it was like are grounded firmly in her lived experience. For her, she is seeing people and places that where killed and destroyed, and that she mourned. Clark's vision is of a life he thinks he can never have. Kara's vision is of a life she had but was taken from her and unlike Clark that means that she can not escape on her own.

Instead her adopted sister Alex has to go into the vision to try and reach her, and in the process delivers one of the best speeches in the Arrowverse, or a Superfamily story:

Life isn't perfect. I know it can be hard and it can be lonely. Especially for you. You have sacrificed and you have lost so much. I wish you could've had a life with your family. But even if you did, Kara, it wouldn't be this. Because this isn't real. And deep down, Kara. Deep down, you know it. I can't promise you a life without pain and loss because pain is a part of life. It's what makes us who we are. It is what makes you a hero. You fight every day to keep people from struggling like you have. I know you can remember, please. Please try, Kara. Because Earth needs Supergirl.

This finally breaks through and sets Kara free, because Alex is right. Earth does need her, and just because being Supergirl is not the same burden for her as it to Clark, it doesn't change that, and it doesn't change that it demands incredible sacrifices of her- including saying goodbye to her family and her world for a second time.

Anyways all this to say while the Arrowverse made some wild choices later on, it still had a way better understanding of the DC heroes and what makes their stories tick then basically anyone they've ever let write a Superman movie for the last twenty years.
